Great teacher! Took her for online summer course. Lots of easy reading, would recommend. Weekly quizes are right out of the book. Midterm and Final samples are given ahead of time, if you know the material, easy A.
She's a good teacher if you do what she tells you to. Not an easy grade, but you get the grade you deserve.
I don't like history but I learned alot in this class. Not an easy A. You get what you earn! Very awesome teacher though. She is very approachable, fair, and helpful. I took Smith for History 102 and this class was much, much better. I always knew what to expect and what she expected, she is very organized.
Aviod this teacherShe only gives you one chance on quizzes that are almost impossible to do well on b/c their is so much context to remember. She expects your disscusion postings to be essay length and her lectures are pretty much useless when it comes to taking the quizzes. If you want your gpa to drop bc you choose a bad teacher then yea take her
Teach does not respond to emails, does not know how to use computer program and dosen't grade anything till end of semester so if you want to know your grade good luck.
if you like writing a lot then take the class, if not stay away. her lectures are useless and very boring.
Some dislike her, but if you're attentive and don't leave class half way through, she won't ge on your case. She's been trying different types of homework assignments. I had His 102 as a hybrid and liked having quizes online.
She is a great teacher. I've never been a fan of history, but she made it fun. The lectures can get boring everynow and then. But she is fun and energetic. The class is easy, just listen and do the work, and there's not a lot of it.
I think she is a great teacher! She tells you everything you need to know for your exams and for any essays. She is nice, funny, and understanding. You really should take her. Not even that much work.
Mrs. Kerr is an awesome teacher. Writing intensive tests, but if you follow her instructions she sets them up very clearly for you. She is very nice, and it has been a joy taking her class. Short weekly quizzes, and other then that the majority of the class work comes from the two midterms and final.
UGHHH THiS CLASS iS SO BORiNG i WANNA FALL ASLEEP EVERY TiME iM iN iT!! HER TESTS R PRETTY HARD SHE MAKE U DO ESSAYS AND SHORT ANSWERS!! AND AT THE END U HAVE TO READ THiS BOOK AND DO A FINAL ESSAY WHiCH iS HALF UR GRADE! AND THE HISTORY BOOK iS LiKE $100 BUCKS USED TOO. iTS SUX.
Ms. Kerr is a great teacher and retells history like a story. She does lecture a lot so have a coffee before class if you have ADD. Mid-terms and Final are substantial. So only take her class if you are going to study and read the materials. I am confident I received an "A" but I worked hard for it. Plus I learned A LOT!
I can't believe she doesn't have higher ratings!Kerr is an amazing professor. She lectures on exactly what you need to know. There were only a few small hw assignments, so mostly all you have to do is read the text assigned. The only tests we had were the midterm and the final, which I think she actually made too easy. She's a great professor to have.
I really appreciated Mrs. Kerr's teaching style. She lectures in "story format." It was interesting most of the time. The tests are insanely easy. Each of 2 midterms and the final are worth 200 points each so if you blow one it hurts your grade, but she basically gives you everything that is one the test in a study guide before the test
This class was pretty easy. You do need to read the chapters she assigns if you want to do good in the quizzes. If you need help shes willing to schedule appointment and she responds to her emails.
Online, history class, so far so good. It's easy to follow, and she seems to know her stuff. Quick responds to questions and the way she presents her learning modules are great! She's fantastic compared to other online classes, great follow through, very knowledgable!!!
I took her online 101 class and now am taking her on campus 102 class. On campus is much easier because you do better when hearing the lecture. You just need to read the book and if you need help she is more than happy to help. She gives you whats on the test and has study sessions which really help.
I had Ms.Kerr in Hist 101 and 102. Great teacher, very flexible and kind. I retained all of the history that I learned in her class. Reading is a must and she grades TOUGH on term papers. One quiz per week so attendance is a MUST! I really enjoyed her class.
Mrs. Kerr is awesome and a totally fun teacher! She's really interactive in class and makes learning super easy! You do have to read the chapters for weekly quizes but she's completely flexible. If tell her you're not ready and class agrees then she'll put it off. I'd deff take her agian!
She is very sweet. You can tell that when she teaches she loves it. She is very visual with her words. There are weekly quizzes so read the chapter every week and you will be fine.
Best history teacher at MJC! Class isn't hard, her lectures are easy to follow along with and to understand. She puts on study sessions for each test which are incredibly helpful. Take her for all history classes available.
I took professor Kerr for History 101 online. After a few weeks I realized how much of a stickler she was. Lot's of work and she hardly responded to my messages when I asked her for any type of clarification. She expects each student to complete huge study guides each chapter and has tons of questions per assignment..ugh. So glad to be done!
Grr... I did not have a good experience with Prof. Kerr. I don't want to disrespect her, but she has absolutely NO idea how to teach online. She has VERY lengthy reading assignment'S' per week, & impossible timed quizzes. Also tried to do IN-CLASS final. She needs to approach online classes as if the students taking them NEED and online-type class!
Kerr didn't give enough homework to get sufficient feedback. She doesn't keep deadlines and loses papers. Two small assignments in the first 3 months of class. 5-6 large assignments the last month of class. Don't take this teacher if you expect professionalism.
I missed the first 4 weeks of classes because I had pneumonia. She spent the rest of the semester coaching me and helping me finish, and helping me with other classes. If you don't pass her class it's because you don't try hard enough. She's clear, passionate, and willing to help anyone who wants it. I finished with an A even missing those 4 weeks.
I can't believe a student complained about Kerr not giving enough homework! Prof Kerr is extremely helpful and clear. She's the only prof I've had who is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure her students have opportunity to pass including personal study sessions and easily accessible tutors who have Aced her class previously. Highly recommend
She is very kind and helpful w her students. You can tell she really loves history. She grades fairly. Very flexible, understanding, and easygoing and really cares about her students. Requires a lot of outside reading, though, so be prepared.
(oncampus)She is extremely good at lecturing, story telling style. I missed 1day of class, barely read the book n passed the class. The only time i opened the book was to outline the final, n if you r going to take her class make sure you go to her personal tutoring sessions, very helpful
Basically your entire grade is based on a few chapter tests, a midterm, a final and a research project. If you attend class and you take really good notes, you will pass the class no problem. She gives you study guides for each test, you just have to memorize them well.
As previously stated, if you are an excellent note taker, this is the class for you! I barely cracked open my book and the only times I did, were to get more information that was instructed in the online lecture videos that replaced the two classes she missed. She is an EXCELLENT teacher in the subject and creates a desire to want to learn.
She's clear, passionate, and willing to help anyone who wants it. If you don't Ace her class, you didn't try. Take good notes and you got it! She is one of the best professor's I have ever had the pleasure to study under.
Prof Kerr is so helpful, very fair, and a great story teller. She speaks about history in a way that ANYONE can understand. She has multiple study sessions, and she's more than happy to help if you ask. She even let me borrow a History book because I couldn't afford one. Take good notes and turn in your work, go to the study sessions and you'll pass.
Great Instructor! Prior to taking this class I had no interest in American History. Her lectures are captivating and interesting. She has a way of telling the story that makes you want to hear more.
TAKE THIS LADY FOR HISTORY!!! She makes everything super clear and her lectures are awesome. I never had to use the book, because her lectures were aWesome. Study guides are great. She lectures in a very understandable and relatable way. No mumbo jumbo she gets straight to the point with no fancy terminology.
This professor was great. I rarely opened the book because her lectures covered everything. I passed with an A and I have always struggled and hated history. If you struggle with history, but need to take it, then this is the teacher to take it with.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR if you are up for failure! I took her class and I went to her for help everyday, read the textbook, attended every study session/SI sessions, and did everything she wanted and her ridiculous term paper on Defending Slavery. So, if you do everything it's not good enough. No wonder why her classes are failing.
Horrible professor. She has ridiculous expectations. Also, has the hardest final exam and ridiculous term paper. It was like I was in a history museum or something that I had to know everything about history. I thought the class was for general ed. not defending slavery, using documents on how they lived way back then that are pointless and etc.
She is an ok teacher. She has good lectures and the SI sessions were helpful. But she is a very hard grader. For a short answer on the midterm my answer was correct but I didn't add one thing and she took half the points away. So you have to know EVERYTHING. She's picky so do the essays exactly how she says it and go to SI sessions!
If you have a disability when it comes to taking test, do NOT take her class. Her multiple choice exams are easy. However her grading his tough. No matter how hard you try and how many SI session you attend, getting an A is next to impossible unless you can read her mind.
This is probably the best professor I've had at MJC. She has a knack for lecturing that makes you feel like she's just telling a story. Attendance is mandatory, you will take lot's of notes, but she lays out every assignment for you and makes her expectations very clear. She gives you everything you need to write your term paper. Awesome professor!
Professor Kerr is definitely one of the best instructors at MJC. Prior to taking this class I had absolutely no interest in history of any kind. That all changed after taking this class. I loved attending her classes. She lectures the entire class period and is so interesting. Very little hw, grades are dependant on exams and final term paper.
Shes an excellent teacher, one of the best I've ever had. She's very helpful and organizes the work so that your term paper is a lot easier.
Ms. Kerr's lectures are engaging and really interesting. There is a fair amount of essays and assignments but all of them are well known from the beginning. Very nice and helpful teacher. Definitely take one of her classes if you can.
If you are looking for an easy A don't take her class. If you want to learn about history and hear excellent lectures this is your class. The tests are difficult but if you pay attention they aren't impossible.
Professor Kerr is an amazing teacher. She gives great lecture, and has made history (not my favorite subject) enjoyable for me. When she's speaking everyone pays attention. I'll be attending her History 102 class next semester because I enjoyed her course so much.
Kerr is an amazing teacher. She makes the lessons very easy to understand, and is easy to talk to. She is extremely helpful and I am making sure I take her 102 class, would recommend to anyone needing a history teacher at MJC.
Her class was fairly easy, I just did not like the way she teaches. She just stands there and lectures and it is kind of boring. her quizzes are easy because she reviews before hand. the research paper is doable
Mrs Kerr is a very great professor, she is clear and concise in her lectures, and she sticks to the relatively few assignments in her sylabus. My only complaint is she'stransitioning to this REVEL program for all of her classes. It is an online program similar to my math lab. It actually is helpful, but if you take her, expect to pay and extra $70
Second best professor taken at MJC. She is clear in her lecture material and is a wonderful teacher. Her lectures are like stories and that helps to remember the material. She is obviously very passionate about history and she encourages students to participate in class by sharing their insights and questions. Super helpful during office hours.
Amazing teacher! 100% Recommended!
Awesome professor! Highly recommended. The way she lectures makes you want to actually pay attention and take good notes. In class notes are very helpful to study for exams (only 2). Therefore, try not to miss so many classes. If you have any troubles or questions she's very helpful and patient.
Kerr is a nice a person and i respected her as a professor but my problem was just the way she taught the class. Her lectures are so boring and goes on. I love History but kerr teaches the class as if its an english class. I went to her study groups but still was confused. I just wasnt a fan of her teaching style... wont be taking her again...
Professor Kerr is a stellar teacher. Her lectures are very exciting and keep you on edge. She is very patient, and is willing to clarify any doubts you may have. I highly recommend this teacher.
Let me start with saying that i took her class after 4 weeks of strugling in Curtis Martin's horrible class. She gave me chance to get in her class even after 4 weeks, and i got a B+ in her class. She was there for me every time i needed anything. The tests are easy, if you take notes. All of them are straight from her lectures. Best teacher.
Her lectures were boring and doesn't really put what you need to know in her lectures you have to really listen to what she says b/c thats they stuff thats going to be on the test. Her lectures were very vague. She was cool when you needed help but she had this huge project that was very overwhelming and SI she had was really not that helpful.
She's a good teacher, the way she conducts her lectures are somewhat off balance in terms of note taking. Her formatting is all over the place but she presents what you need to know to pass the exams and the class. She's very nice and works with you if you're actually trying/legit student in need. I would take again if i needed another history clas
She makes her lectures understandable but she doesn't write her notes on powerpoint. you have to write everything she says basically. Homework is every week reading 4-5 articles and answering 3-5 questions about what you read. She doesn't give homework when there are big papers due.
i moved away 2hours from Modesto and I emailed her about it I thought she was an amazing teacher until I started asking her for help she would not reply to my emails I sent her about 18 emails Literally asking her if I could do my asignments through revel and email her my final papers she never responded
I had Professor Kerr for History 101 and 102 and she is easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Her class is not "easy" but very doable. Only two exams: midterm and final, and a project at midterm and then a large term paper. Make sure to ask questions and participate a lot!!
An excellent professor. Her lectures are captivating, and she'll answer any questions you have about the content. She's also willing to allow students to discourse with one another once in a while. I learned a great deal about U.S. history and was always excited to listen to what she had to say.
Note that I took the online class. Each week, you will read 4-6 sections and after each section is a 5 question quiz. After that, you'll answer a 15 question chapter quiz. Then you'll have to write a lengthy discussion post AND some other activity that will require extensive reading and writing. Good teacher but just assigns quite a bit of homework
SO. MUCH. WORK. Seriously, she has us do two midterm prep assignments? I don't see the point of it. On top of that, you must do a discussion post as well as reading a whole unit with quizzes after each chapter. There is so much reading. Her Canvas module seems unorganized and it's hard locating certain PDF files that she sent to you 3 weeks ago!
ALOT OF WORK
Oh Mrs. Kerr-where should I begin. Very sweet professor and she cares about her students. It is a lot of homework every week. Midterm work is exhausting sometimes overwhelming. I feel like she is jumbled sometimes. Forgets to post modules and takes a while to respond. Not an easy A but not a hard Prof either.
Ok so I would like to say, Ms. Kerr, as a professor is awesome. however, this class didn't teach me much and it felt like a lot of pointless work in closing the class gets 3 and 1/2 stars the teacher gets 4/5 so you decide if you want to take it.
Lots of pointless work. Doesn't respond to emails or any sort of contact. Canvas is unorganized. You're better off taking a different teacher for a regular GE class. My biggest regret at MJC would have to be me taking this class. Don't let that 4.0 rating fool you.
She doesn't respond to emails. She's ridiculously tough and her homework is basically all busy work.
I took her online course, too much reading and quizzes after reading and then chapter quiz, midterm is too much. If you want to do a lot of work then take this course. I felt that it was too much work. a lot of discussons. I dropped this class.
Never gets back to you. Grades harshly. Insane amount of work 10 page prep paper 5 page prep paper and 7 page prep paper. Lots of quizes and readings. Long discussions. If your okay with doing all the work and not passing because she grades harshly go for it. Also uploads work late doesn't give extra time to do it for her mistakes.
this teacher is awful, too much homework, too many assignments, too many quizzes, and too many tests. im not sure what she is trying to prove. and i am guessing she doesnt realize most of us have more than one class. how is it that my chem class is easier? too high of expectations for a general ed class. most of us are not history majors.
I hated this class do not recommend. She would took a month to grade midterms and took forever to contact her. Grade I got here ruined my GPA
Though Mrs. Kerr seems to be a very nice person (based on when I've talked to her), I'm a bit disappointed by her class. One of the reasons I love history, was a teacher I had a while back who had memorable and entertaining lectures. Kerr's lectures are alright but that's all they are, and you may even find yourself growing bored during them.
her lectures fill the whole class. You want to take notes about what she is saying in class not just from the power point. My notes were about a page long or longer. The homework is off some documents we read and aswer a couple questions about a paragraph long. Midterm is easy if you take good notes. lets you use flashcards.
She definitely gives too many unnecessary assignments.
Fantastic teacher, you can tell she's been doing this job for a long time but still cares deeply for her profession and her students success. Gives interesting lectures with presentations and does not give out a ton of home work. Term paper had strict grading criteria but if it was met she was an easy grader. Extra credit opportunities. Recommended
Great teacher
I took this class online and I really enjoyed it. The textbook is online, which was less expensive and really convenient. There is a discussion every week and every time you read a chapter there is a chapter quiz at the end. Everything is straight forward and the directions are clear for all the papers. Highly recommend.
Professor Kerr is definitely one of my favorite professors at MJC. Really loves history and is very much willing to help you out with essays including the midterm and final. Take decent notes in lecture and study/make a cheat sheet for tests and youll do just fine!
This was the best history class I've ever taken. There are several essays, but they are graded fairly and have understandable terms.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER ONLINE. She is the toughest grader and her instructions are so vague you don't know what she truelly wants. There is an obscene amount of work to be done and quizzes for each section and week. Good luck if you do what I did and not take a look here before taking her class, and if you need to get a hold of her, hahahahah.
Great online course. Lots of reading so plan ahead. Not professors fault - there are course requirements for all professors. Plenty of time to do work. Exams are essay questions, but if you do the work during the week thats basically your essay outline. Caring, allowed 1 late exam, I only got a C because I skipped a whole week of work - oops
Kerr was a great professor. I felt like I really learned a lot in her class. She doesn't take attendance but showing up definitely makes it easier! You have a final paper at the end but she's very helpful. Lectures are interesting and informative. Uses one book! I would definitely take her again.
This class has so much reading! Her assignments are not too hard, just the fact that she has you read so much even out from the book is upsetting. I took History 101 online and was so much easier. Read the chapter, quiz on it, discuss a little about it. This teachers has all that but, the discussions are on several questions and wants paragraphs.
Professor Kerr was amazing! I took both her classes for Hist 101 and 102. She's very understanding of people's situations if you discuss it with her. Her lectures are clear and precise. When it comes to exams she provides study guides and sessions so that you can even prepare. Make sure you do your online readings, apply yourself, and you'll pass.
I really hate to give someone a bad rating but it needs to be done. She is overwhelmed with her course load and it shows. She takes forever to grade papers and does NOT respond to emails asking for clarification, leaving me to guess. No offense, but if you're making over 100k a year, the least you can do is email me back.
I took her for both 101 and 102. Lots of reading, lots of essays, lengthy online discussions. 102 was a little bit more challenging, only because there is also a term paper you have to write for that class. I wrote a lot more for this class than I did my English class. I would recommend taking it as a summer class by itself. Very nice teacher!
This class has the most reading and homework weekly. We have 1 week to complete a lengthy Mid Term paper. Which feels like all i should be doing for the next week. Literally don't mind that i have other classes, a family, a job or the need to eat n sleep. The tests n quizzes all have different questions. Just when you think you have it you don't
Makes it easy to get in A by laying out clear expectations for tests. Interesting to learn from and not boring. Would take again.
there're tons of work that you have to do to pass this class. Weekly assignment requires you to spend hours to read and write in your own words about the question asked. Mid-term, Finals are all about essays that she requires a lot of work. I did get an A but there's a lot of work !
Professor Kerr is a nice person but I wouldnt take her class again. She provided us with very few assignments (all essays) and took a long time to grade things. Her lectures were very interesting but her grading system made it hard to know where we stood in the class. She also missed quite a lot of class and it was hard to find time to make ups.
Professor Kerr was awesome. I took her 7 week summer class and there was a fair amount of work, but she made it interesting and gave meaning to the class. It wasn't hard and she used Revel which was comprehensive. You did have to engage in the discussions to get credit, and she gave clear expectations for the 2 essay exams. Wonderful experience.
Professor Kerr is one of my favorites. Ive had her for 3 courses now and she is seriously a professor Ill remember. Caring, easy grader, but you still need to put in the work. Overall would recommend her to anyone.
She was a great professor I emailed her due to a personal illness and she gave me an extra few days to turn in the work, its alot of reading but if you do it when your supposed to youll be fine.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! She gives to much assignments especially the discussions she only gives you about 4 days to complete each one before the next one is due (which requires so much reading). She takes too long to respond to emails I emailed her about a mistake she did on one of my assignments and she never emailed me back.
I had Professor Kerr for History 101. Her class was super informative and I throughly enjoyed her it. There is a far amount of reading and a discusión post you have to write twice a week but, if you dont wait until last minute; its very manageable. She gives great feedback and offers praise when its deserved. I plan on taking her 102 class.
I took History 101 & 102 with Professor Kerr. I don't partially enjoy the subject of History, yet I very much enjoyed her class. She's accommodating and sets you up to pass her class! She wants you to succeed, and she wants you to have fun while learning! P.s. Her papers are very informative and fun! My favorite was the Tusla Race Massacre.
Run! take your chance with another professor. She gives 2 assignments and 2 discussions and her discussions have to be 600 words! Gives about 4 days to complete. i took an accelerated class in the past and i didnt even have as much work as this class! so overwhelming.
I loved Professor Kerr shes so sweet and very understanding. Also gives good feedback. I took her history 101 and definitely taking her again for history 102 this summer. Very chill Professor!
She is such an amazing instructor; Her lectures are clear and very easy to understand. if I would have take the class again with her, I would definitely take it as she provides great and reasonable feedback that help students prove themselves better as well as makes the content easy to digest and work on it. I had a wonderful and amazing semester
though i didn't enjoy much of the material, i was able to appreciate professor kerr's obvious passion for history and teaching. she is incredibly kind and cares about students passing the class, and loves to hear what students have to say.
Professor Kerr is really nice. If I missed any assignments, I would email her if I can raise my grade up. She would unlock any assignment and give me a week to finish. She also give out extra credit assignments in order for us to raise up our grades.
Great class and professor. Lecture videos to watch and take notes on which are needed to review for the exams. One textbook. I took the online course last summer and loved it.
Well,I took Prof Kerr History 101, 102 and 129 and these classes were amazing. The lectures were very entertaining and the assignments were very easy to navigate. Gives good feedback in assignments and is always there to help you. Not many assignments and two papers per semester which is not that bad. Very passionate about history. Take those clases
Professor Kerr is a good teacher. She explains things in simple terms and cares about student success. Most assignments are easy, but the issue is that she REALLY takes her time to grade them. Also, if you need to speak to her about something, it's best to do it in person. In my experience, she never responded to my emails.
I took this as a summer class. If you work and plan on taking other classes do not take this class. It is a lot of work. I was able to manage the work until the midterm which was four short answer responses and a 1000 word essay. On top of that she still assigned our normal amount of work which includes another writing assignment. Lot's of reading
Professor Kerr had great and very informative lectures, however they were lengthy. I am not a fan of history, so I found myself struggling to stay focused on the lectures. She is a very good professor, teachers well, grades clearly, is caring and sympathetic towards students, and even provided scan trons for ALL of her examinations.
Weekly assigned 300-400 words discussion post and one 500-800 words writing assignments, two exams, and one informative essay this semester I found the work easy to managed the best communication with this Professor is Canvas DO NOT email her
Absolutely recommend! Wonderful professor with interesting lectures. Fair grading, extra credit offered, roughly 1 homework assignment a week, 4 exams, and a project of some sort. Attend her lectures and keep up on homework and you will pass no problem. Take in person if possible. You won't regret taking her class, 10/10!
A ton of writing every week. Assignments and discussions contain an unnecessarily high word count. Other times, the directions for an assignment are completely unclear.
Very informative and gives great lectures. Allows study guide for exams. Not monotone and actually makes lectures interesting.
This class was very simple and easy to follow with professor Kerr but I do wish we did more things that were interactive. In person was just lecture the whole time but the information was very useful and she made it really easy to understand. She was cool.
Professor Kerr was a great professor sadly I had to drop. She is very communicative on what she expects, if you're good with time management you'll most likely pass. She also isn't the greatest with responding to emails, so I would just meet her during her office hours or talk to her after class. Professor Kerr is very caring as long as you care.
Her ONLINE course are not organized, she doesnt respond when you reach out, shes a no show to her own zoom hours, she makes lame excuses on why she hasnt grade assignments (I still have hw from the beginning of the semester that has yet to be graded, and class ends this week) Word of advice, if online, make a discord chat for you to pass word.
I no like you professor Kerr. You no good, you online class so hard to know, you know never answer any question i send u. English not very good but you no care much to accommodate me. Very selfish teacher, teach only for self and not for student.
This professors lectures were not updated from last year, so there was a lot of confusion. If you have the ASC accommodations, she never gives you the additional time. She takes long to reply to emails and makes her in person class priority compared to the online class. She takes long to grade assignments.
If you want to do 25 writing assignments and only have 3 graded by the end of the semester then this is the class for you! There was no grading done, barely any feedback on the graded assignments, and no communication to the students. Did not respond to email and barely showed up to office hours. Very bad class and would not recommend.
Lets try this again, since i keep breaking guidelines. If you decide to take her online class, dont. outdated modules, doesnt respond to emails, never attends her zooms, and takes forever to grade. week 15 is over and week 2 still has no grades. I would not recommend her online class.Apparently in person is better, so try that or find someone else.
Professor Kerr assigns a considerable amount of reading, which can be time-consuming. I wouldn't recommend pairing this class with another heavy workload. While the material isn't overly difficult, her teaching structure could be improved. Based on my experience and what friends have shared, there might be better options for 102
This prof is the worst!! All im saying is stay away from her online classes. I still havent even gotten my final grade for this class and finals week is over! It just shows how much effort she puts into her teaching. Makes us have a dead linr but cant hold herself to one either. What a shame.
pick someone else
She gives great lectures. She also gives you ample time to do your work. I enjoyed this class so much. I attended her office hour every week, she always showed up(come to her office very early). I can tell she is a very dedicated educator from our conversations we had. I decided to write this because I think she deserves this!
She is a great professor! she teaches very well and in a great manor. she is super kind and knows her topic well. the class is almost entirely note-taking. only about 3-4 major homework assignments in the entire semester. about 3 exams (including final) with super clear study guides. 50/50 multiple-choice and writing. 1 final essay at the end.
Her expectations were clear, the course material was easy to understand, and she was very considerate. Only downside was the amount of homework, which was a lot, but online summer courses are condensed so it is to be expected
Professor Kerr is awesome; her lectures are always informative and engaging. She is clearly passionate about history and teaching—it is evident in the way she gives her lectures. She doesn't simply read off a slide, she goes into detail and is eager to help anyone who is struggling. Not too much homework, but always gave us enough time to finish it
The basis of my history 101 class with Professor Kerr was lectures. She did provide the lecture slides but made history even more interesting and was enthusiastic about it. She clearly went over material and was welcome to answer any questions students had. Her slides make it a little confusing to take notes but I got through well. 4.5/5!
She was my favorite professor this semester! She does not overload with assignments and the tests are super reasonable. She explains things extremely well especially with essays and large assignments. She has a great attitude and cares about her students. I definitely recommend her!
You can tell she really does enjoy teaching history and she's good at it, she provides the textbook online although you are graded on very few things so one single assignment could bring your grade down
Professor Kerr gives few homework assignments and provides detailed study guides for midterms and finals. She assigns a research paper with plenty of time to complete and offers the sources. Lectures are detailed and essential for understanding the material, slides are just a guideline. Attendance is important. Reach out and attend office hours!
Professor Kerr is the best teacher ever! I do not enjoy history but she makes her class enjoyable and interesting. If you attend every class and pay attention you will be fine. There's barely any homework. Your grade relies on the 2 exams and one essay. She does take forever to grade but offers lots of extra credit. Definitely take her!
She's a great history teacher but the only problem I had was, she takes forever for grading and tends to forget things quite often other than that her class is pretty easy you need to take a lot of notes written and another thing is she needs everything on paper all your homework I found that alittle annoying but offers a lot of extra credit
Kerr is super cool and understanding. Her lectures are found on canvas so if you miss a day you can easily catch up. She doesn't assign a lot of assignments. If she does they're fairly easy. She even gives study guides for all test, so you don't just go in blind. She also is super accommodating to her students!
Kerr is super cool and understanding. Her lectures are found on canvas so if you miss a day you can easily catch up. She doesn't assign a lot of assignments. If she does they're fairly easy. TBH I didn't do half of them and still passed. She even gives study guides for all test, so you don't just go in blind.
Was a bit nervous of taking an online class but this class is pretty chill about two assignments a week some weeks the readings were short. She's very accessible besides the weekend, once the assignments are due they're locked, so this isn't a class for people who submit late. Pretty chill for an online history class.
She is a wonderful historian who you know loves history! Her class is just lectures, a select few homework, and a few exams. I've taken her class twice. her lectures on online, but you learn best by being in person. She makes the tests easy to study for. She's passionate and it carries over in her lectures!
The class isn't hard but the professor is useless on giving helpful feedback on your grading. Doesn't give full credit nor gives a clear/good explanation on WHY. Uses excuses and admits she keeps full credit for "depth" but wont tell you where you missed the depth in. You wont get A+ unless she feels like it. DONT take her Also insane about AI
Long lectures and assigns a lot of reading. Quizzes and exams have very little time compared to the amount of questions that they have. Also takes forever to grade and will fail you if you forget to put her AI statement on any of the writing assignments and discussions. Treated it like an in person class instead of an online one.
Does not grade at all, takes forever, and will doc points for small mistakes. She is liberal and is not afraid to talk about it. She ranted about how she did not like trump in the pre-syllabus page. All for freedom of political belief but not in school for a class that does not require it. Makes you take picture of hand written notes.
Where do I even start she doesn't accept late work (emergency only), if you mess up a quote it's automatic 0 same with incomplete work. Your going to write a lot like the word count for a paragraph assignment would be 250- 500 like I am sorry I didn't sign up for English class you can miss me with that. The material it's self is easy to grasp.
If history is something that interests you she's very interactive with students during lectures. Be ready for note taking slides are not helpful at all during lectures she puts more of the titles and speaks about it so MAKE SURE YOU LISTEN to jot down notes. All her study guides in my opinion are zero help it's always just the topic name mainly.
Terrible professor. She waited until the day that grades were due to grade a lot of stuff from two months ago. Feedback is non existent other than explain more. Like others said she is all over the place and honestly I felt like she didnt even show up for the class. I would not take her again, and I used to love history until her class.
