she knows her stuff, its just up to you to make sure you know yours as well.
Wonderful teacher, great class, tough, but you'll thank her when you get to med/surg. Absolutely fair and helpful. Don't get discouraged by anyone who says how hard she is. Take the hard class, learn your s#@& and you'll be a good nurse.
Professor Shah is the kind of woman that anyone is lucky to have as a teacher. She is very spirited and absolutely bright. She knows the material and if you really LISTEN to her you will learn. Despite high expectations, she will guide you under her wing and your performance will reflect that. She will have you ready for Med Surg!
she is sooo intelligent and very helpful!! i recommend taking her for nur 215!
had prof shah for 215 and it was great...she's very helpful and very approachable...no tricks on her exam, whatever she discusses in class is what it is... just study study study and you'll do fine..i highly recommend her..you wont be sorry
Ughh..Cant stand her. She expects everyone to know alot, when most of the people dont have any knowledge of nursing. She plays favorites ridiculously so be sure to either suck up, or study hard. BE SURE TO ATTEND CLASS AND CLINICALS!!
Prof. Shah is extremely helpful. On the first few weeks of lecture and clinical, you may feel tension since she seems tough. However, you'll realize that she just wants you to learn and be prepared for the upper nursing classes and your future. I guarantee you that if you take her, you'll learn so much. I really dont have any regrets in her class!
Professor Shah is tough at times but she means well, she doesn't take any BS so dont make excuses for yourself it doesn't work...just come on time, read the textbook, be polite, tape record the class, and try your best
I love this professor. She tells you what you need to know for the test, and she is very understanding..... If she taught med surg i will totally take her again... i learned so much from this professor dont listen to ppl who say about her having favorites, because she doesn't..just do your work and do your readings, then you will pass this class.
Prof. Shah is an asset to Molloy. She is the best 209 prof. you could get. She is extremely intelligent and will thoroughly prepare you for future classes. So you all know she is NOT a walk in the park, and her tests are someone difficult, but by the time you leave her class you will be forever grateful for having her.
NUR 209 covers some tough material but Prof. Shah was always willing to clarify. Very approachable. Tests were tough but typical of the material covered. There were no surprises. I feel that the knowledge base that I attained in her class has helped me tremendously in Med-Surg. I highly reccomend taking a course with Prof. Shah - she is an asset.
This is not an easy course because most people are new to the topics, however Prof Shah is excellent. I recommend reading the text book because her lessons and the text book combined are all you need to pass. She's a tough grader but if you just do what is assigned you'll be fine!
Shah was a great professor. I learned ALOT from her class and was a very approachable professor if you were having trouble. I recommend you taking her class because you will feel confident going into medsurg II!
Very good teacher , easy to talk to , doesnt give out her powerpoints which is her only form of notes. Tests are OK , study and you will be fine . Very sweet lady , enjoyed having her . No presentations for this class , minimal homework
She is the best professor I've ever had. Now in upper level courses I can look back and say that Prof Shah gave me a fantastic foundation. Tests are not the easiest but if you read and pay attention and study hard you'll do great. I learned so much and I was well prepared for medsurg. Take her!
Professor Shah is fantastic! I learned so much with her when I took her. I recommend her to everyone. She is such an incredible asset to Molloy College. She truly helps out medsurg professors because her students are so knowledgable after 209. Take her! You must study, you'll learn everything you need to know
Best professor I have ever had. She is so helpful and amazing. Brilliant mind. She changed the entire way I think things through in nursing school. Take her! Must read text and take notes & study study study!!
Shah will turn you into a good nurse I guess, but when compared to other 209 professors she is not the best at actually "teaching". She pushes and her exams are harder than other 209 classes so you end up leaving with a lot of knowledge, but be prepared to study. YOU HAVE TO READ THE TEXT!! If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't take her again.
Be prepared to study and read the textbook! Focus on studying procedural aspects of the class. Also she is clearly the hardest 209 teacher, so know that you will be working much harder than all the other 209 classes. She is very tough, and a lot of people do not pass her class. Personally I would not take her again...Good luck!
Had her for clinical. And she is absolutely my idol. She is very helpful. Her class was not easy but she motivated me and was very helpful throughout the semester. Don't take the class if you're going to bs because fundamentals is hard enough because you're learning new things. She's nicest person ever. Everything made sense once I got to medsurge(prof cuff) who btw is another great yet hard teacher.
seems intimidating at first, but is really very sweet. I did not enjoy her class because the tests were difficult. you really need to study but you will know your stuff. Had her for clinical and she was amazing. pre conference was tough but she really tries to help and pushes you to be the best you can be! i loved her
love love love love prof shah. honestly so happy i took her. and loved prof bayawa as a clinical instructor. so happy to have had them for my first clinical experience. felt like i learned a lot and it came naturally.
LOVED prof shah for 209! She is great with this material. however if shes teaching 229 again, RUN. 229- started with about 40 students, there were about 15 that took the final.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! she really has her students in her best interest. HOWEVER. you must study, read the textbook! STUDY STUDY STUDY you will do fine!
She is clear and knowledgeable. The material comes from the textbook. She is a great teacher and gives you what you deserve Get the textbook read the textbook you will not survive without it. If you do not read you fail.
If you want to stay in nursing and actually do well in 209 I would advise no student to take Shah. I have heard that she is a good teacher but I personally think otherwise. She is very rude and very sarcastic. She believes that 209 has to be the only thing you should study and you focus on, nothing else matters. Very unhelpful.
She's really nice despite some of these comments on here. I found her to be very helpful and understanding also. I emailed her about a family issue and she worked with me, so if you have anything going on don't hesitate. She definitely pushes you to do the work and the reading but honestly it's worth it in the end. beware of pop quizzes.
A lot of people have mixed feelings about Professor Shah, but my personal experience was great. I learned so much that's going to help me move on in the nursing program. This class is hard but you need to dedicate a lot of time and effort towards it. Jarvis and Craven will be the books you take around with you for the entire semester. Good luck!
Professor Shah is one of my favorite professors I've had. She may be a hard professor and her tests may seem impossible but if you study you will do fine. She forces you to read and learn how to study so that you do well for the rest of nursing school. She explains things really well and takes the time to explain anything you don't understand.
Shah is a million times smarter than you'll ever know. She is the one to take if you want to walk out of class knowing your stuff. Taking her will help you throughout the program (speaking as a senior who had her for 209). You wont get an NCLEX question on fundamentals wrong after her class. Record lectures, use book. Tough but WORTH IT! TAKE HER!
Would not recommend taking her class if you want to actually understand your work, she talks to you like you already know the material she doesn't help you very much when you ask, and I just overall didn't enjoy the class, taking her for 209 is a definite no!
If you can take another teacher but if you can't then be prepared to read and study. Overall, to me she is not that bad but it is a lot of work.
Shah knows her stuff. She's a well experienced nurse and it clearly shows in her knowledge and skill. However, it was hard being expected to know so much in a fundamentals class. USE THE TEXTBOOKS (Craven and Jarvis). You won't pass without it. Listen to everything she says, practice hard, and WATCH OUT FOR HER QUIZZES. Lots of studying necessary.
Her test were not that bad and was pretty much everything from the textbook and her slides. However you do need the textbooks from this class and she expects you to come to knowing everything already. I though she was ok and I only studied a day before the test.
Its a challenge but you come out knowing a lot and are more prepared for Med Surg afterwards. She's tough but she makes sure you know your stuff so you have to work hard for your grades but its worth the struggle.
Reading both textbooks may seem tedious and long, but you have to do it. I didn't listen when those who told me to solely study the textbook, but i def learned the hard way on that. Buy yourself a good cup of coffee, sit down, take notes and highlight as you read the books. She drops the lowest grade so don't miss class when she has a pop quiz.
She's so smart. You will learn in her class 100%. You may not be getting A's per say, but if you put the work in, develop insight within class, and honestly just study effectively you will do well and most importantly learn!
Yes, 209 is tough. Yes, you will have to read. And Yes, Professor Shah is tough. But Shah is one of the best, most intelligent and respected professors on campus. If you commit yourself to the readings, her tests are very straightforward. If you rely on powerpoints, you will not do as well as you could. I reccomend everyone take her for 209.
Shahs class will help you in every single class and exam. Yes, she is tough. Read the chapters in advance and you will be fine!! She is the BEST professor. You will have to work HARD but trust me it will be worth. Do not study the power points, you WILL fail the test. Read the books and study ATIs. She is amazing, be ready to learn!!
when taking shah there's a few things you need to know. 1. the POP QUIZZES will be on the week before's material. 2. READ THE BOOK!!! you won't pass without reading it, just do it. 3. she is so sweet and is always willing to chat with you about anything. she is tough, but TAKE HER
I have never been more stressed in my life than I have been for this class. She is very tough, but 100% doable if you put in the work and do ALL the readings & ATI modules & ATI book. Shes outstanding with teaching you how to think like a nurse, but you pretty much have to teach the material to yourself
I can see why people view Shah as a brilliant professor but to be honest I think she takes the amount of info to a new extreme. She expects way way wayyy too much out of a Fundamentals class, goes on and on in lecture not checking if anyone understands, and simply acts if we should know complex medical material. Not worth the stress. Do not take
Looking back, I do not remember a THING from Prof. Shahs class. It is pretty much self-taught, and she does not even point out what is important to know. Each week was a struggle and just added to the stress of an already crazy semester. I recommend someone else
Taking her for 209 right now, gives very good lectures and is assessible outside of class. I recommend you record her lectures so you can go home and go through them again. Gives clear cut grading. Good choice for 209 but I recommend taking Arnzberg or Osborne for 209.
Professor Shah expects a lot from her students though she doesn't teach much in class. Her test questions are specific to the textbook so you must make sure you read it completely; no skimming! She's very sweet though and has a lot of insight and stories about the nursing field. It's really about what your taste in a professor is.
Prepare to read, the entire semester was spent with my head buried in the textbook. Attendance is mandatory but the lectures didnt help me at all. Pop quizzes are her thing, do the reading before class. The tests are fair just a lot of material. As for the nursing content, some of her methods are outdated and not in line with best practice.
She gives you pop quizzes but I feel like they definitely help and correlate with the test plus you take them as a group so its easier. You will spend a lot of time reading but its worth it and helps make sure you know what you're doing for lab and it will help you with your understanding for the test. Overall take her you can do it!
Professor Shah is one of the best professors I have had at Molloy. Is her class tough? Yes. Will you have to read? Yes. Will you learn loads of information? Yes. She is caring and will help you out in anyway possible. 209 is hard, as is any nursing class. I feel extremely prepared for 299!! Take her!!
Professor Shah is amazing and truly gives you a great foundation of nursing knowledge. Yes this class is difficult so don't expect to sit in class and pass. You have to work for your grade. READ THE TEXTBOOKS! She does give quizzes but I wouldn't really call them pop quizzes since she gives them every week and they're usually group quizzes.
Professor shah is one tough professor. Looking back at this semester she did not teach me a single thing. The only way you will pass is if you read BOTH textbooks and put in extra work. Basically get ready to lock yourself in your room the whole semester. She expects you to know everything coming into the class and makes you feel bad when you dont.
I really love Prof. Shah. She is very approachable and friendly but her lectures are boring and won't help you pass the test. Her slides won't help you either. If you want to pass you have to read both books, no skimming. I found it to be a self taught class. She will test you on things she never discussed bc she expects you to read read read!
Professor Shah's 209 class is challenging. Reading both textbooks are crucial in order to pass her tests. never looked at her ppts, they don't help. Read the textbook and make sure you follow her syllabus!! don't fall behind on reading, it piles up. Heavy class, but I feel confident in fundamentals.
She is a bad professor. She expects you to know everything before you start the lecture. Even before the first class began, we had to read about 6 chapters. Her powerpoints are useless. Make sure you ask her what portions of the reading will not be tested. I would rather read the book at home instead of being in her lecture. Avoid her if possible.
209 is not easy and Shah doesn't make it easier, BUT her high expectations will end up helping you in the long run. READ BOTH TEXTS and stay on top of it. Tests come from the the readings and some ATI skills mods. Don't bother with the powerpoints. Group "pop quizzes" prepare you for tests. She's sweet and supportive but you'll work for your grade!
Professor Shah is not going to give everything to you. She makes you work for your grade. You have to read both books, ALL her tests are from the textbook. She expects you to know everything from the week prior which gets texted on a 5 question select all that apply pop quiz. One question wrong and youre down to an 80. Didnt love the pop quizzes.
Worst professor ive had so far. Make sure she likes you because if she doesn't you will NOT have an easy time in lab or class/won't help u. Only professor that ever told me I didn't have what it takes to be a nurse. Anyways, I did well in her class because stayed up all night teaching myself the material. She did prepare me for clinical though
Extremely difficult. Lectures are just an overview, you MUST read on your own. Textbooks & ATI book must be used in conjunction, NOT one over the other. I'd never take a class with her again, but she taught me, (which I believe is the biggest advantage you'll get from taking her), You're never gonna have it your way and you have to make do.
Unable to effectively teach online. She was comfortable with a failing class average on multiple exams. She is rude, condescending and not someone who actually listens to the question you are asking. She will ask you questions on things you have not learned, or at least she has not taught you. Good luck if you take her. She will always "know best"
Do not take this professor! She is okay with the class failing as long as 2 people pass. Her class is a complete waste of time, you are teaching yourself the class. She is very rude and condescending when it comes to asking questions and expects you to know everything the first day of class. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS! She makes things 10 times harder.
Professor Shah is so kind and I'm really happy I am taking her for 459. There are no exams, 1 paper worth 30%, and weekly discussions/assignments. Participation is important!
do NOT take her. her exams barely correlated with her powerpoints. expect to do a lot of reading in the textbook because that is the only way that you'll pass her class. she picks on random people in class and asks questions so be prepared to know the topic of the week. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!
In all honesty for a class that consumes 6 credits of your gpa they need to find someone suitable , tests don't correlate to exam questions , assigned 90 pages of textbook a week , picks on people to participate in class , and doesnt give curves or address the test. Her slides are bullet points of just a couple words and assigns like 5 hws in 2 day
How can a prof be so crude to as seeing all her students doing bad on her tests and telling them to read more when her all her tests aren't on what she teaches. Her question doesn't make sense and she makes you read over 100 pages a week with communication being on an absolute low and unclear. A whole 6 credit class that isn't taught right
No point in studying nothing on test off of her powerpoints / assigned readings
Good luck lol
I am not sure where all these negative reviews are coming from. I may not have gotten the grade I wanted but Prof. Shah makes you think outside the box, more practically and not just regurgitating information from the text like many students expected. She takes the time to go over questions you got wrong you just have to take the initiative first.
Incredible human! You cannot expect to take NUR 2090 and it not be hard. No matter what teacher you have, it is hard content. The class was definitely HARD and exercised my mind. She really cares though and will meet with you anytime . She wants you to pass . There are no bones to be thrown in this class you must READ.
There is an immense amount of material and only so much time. The lecture is combined with graded lab skills assessments that NEED to be completed, a massive amount of ATI/Prep U assignments as well as clinical rotation, is a lot. HOWEVER, she is SO kind & approachable. STUDY hard. Actually READ the Textbook and do practice questions!!!!! a must
DO NOT TAKE HER. Her tests are straight from the textbook so get ready to read. She always post assignments lates and makes them due with little time to do them. Tests are mid to hard, if you really study then you'll be fine. Does not curve her tests at all and doesn't care if most of the class is failing. I would seriously avoid taking her.
I really enjoyed taking Professor Shahs class. You need to thoroughly read the textbook and do all of the assignments and you will be fine. She is approachable and willing to help in office hours as well. 2090 is a tough class, you need to be prepared to work hard to get the grade you want.
Be prepared to READ a lot and have no life. SHE DOES NOT CURVE ANY TESTS OR THROW OUT ANY QUESTIONS. She doesn't care if the entire class is failing or not. You can meet with her to go over tests but it doesn't matter it won't help. I'm am normally an A student and now I'm praying to pass her class.
2090 is gonna be hard no matter who you take. I feel like Shah is one of the better options than the other professors I have heard literal HORROR stories. Shah is difficult, BUT she is willing to meet with her students to review questions and tests. She picks on people for questions which is terrifying but it helps you be prepared to come to class
WORST PROFESSOR AT MOLLOY. SHE WILL FAIL THE WHOLE CLASS WITHOUT ANY REGARD FOR ANYONE. If you want to have to retake a class, she is the best option out there. Almost my entire class failed. Assistant Dean Rose Schecter and Molloy admin won't do anything about it.
So bad. This class is suppose to be easy as a last semester senior, but she gives so much work for no reason and grades harshly Don't take her unless you want to see all your friends have no work to do while you have at least three assignments per week. And she makes you read the textbook or will grade you worst. This class is so infuriating.
This is the WORST professor you can take for your senior year. She will give you 4 lengthy assignments to complete in one week and grades very harshly. Especially for a class that is only 2 credits and very pointless. I regret taking her, she is unreasonable with the amount of assignments and we have to write an essay throughout the whole semester.
Do NOT take this professor for your senior year. An absurd amount of weekly assignments; expecting a novel w/ proper citations per assignment and mandatory discussion posts (also expecting a novel per response). Taking this professor was the worst decision I could've made. At a time when we're stressing about CC and trying to study for the NCLEX
Worst decision taking this professor for my senior year. Ridiculous amount of assignments, which, she scrupulously reviews expecting some kind of Masters-level dissertation per assignment. We should be focusing on passing the nclex, not trying to pass this class and/or have it bring down our GPA. Don't take her--you will regret it
Worst professor to take for leadership. Assignments require a thorough response with critical thinking, referencing the textbook, and finding information from outside sources. She grades too harshly. Too much work for a 2 credit class. Really regret taking her. Avoid at all costs.
For a 2 credit class, the amount of work is ridiculous. She is terrible and makes it feel like a master class rather a senior class.
This teacher is terrible! The worst of the worst at Molloy. She rights all the good reviews about herself, do not believe any review greater than a 2, and that 2 was just a bone being thrown her way.
She is rude, when she think she is being kind. She makes students feel dumb and question things that they asked. I would love to say more but I know for a fact she reads these, and reports any that is out of line.
Even my worst enemy, I would not even suggest to take her for a class. She is not good and she clearly help. Whoever does take her I wish you luck, because you most deff will need it with her.
Terrible teacher! I would never take her again and I never even signed up for her. Molloy had switched my teachers last min, and even than I could not get out of it. She thinks she's helpful but far from it and for 2 credits 1) you don't learn anything and 2) you have so much work.
Horrible, just horrible. Wish they would re-evaluate her as a professor.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. She is rude and has no compassion. DO NOT TAKE HER!!! The amount of time I have put into my assignments to be picked apart is insane. She grades like its a doctorates program. There are so many other things to be focusing on instead of stressing about the absurd amount of weekly assignments. STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY
