She's a real gem if you're struggling with Physics. She is strict, but she is willing to help, and her explanation are really easy to get. She doesn't mind answering your stupidest questions if you're nice to her. Bottomline: Take her if you want to learn. If you want a relaxing class then don't. She prohibits any electronics and tardiness.
Extremely caring, she WANTS you to succeed and do well. She is one of the best professors I've had so far> She is strict, but she will go out of her way to make sure you understand the material.
So I took this class to get prepared for Physics 50. I love this professor so much. She is super nice and actually cares about you to learn. The course material is fairly simple in my pov. You gotta show up to the class and it will be easy to understand. There are lots of worksheets but 90% of the grade was 3 midterms and 1 final.
Everyone says she's super caring, when in actuality she makes you feel like a idiot and doesn't help you understand at all. You can't make up anything because it's physics and you have to be there to understand it. The one time we had a sub from the Physics 51 lab professors, and we celebrated. If you can, change your professor immediately.
If given the choice of any lab instructor for PHYS 50 lab, do not take Professor Sigari. Her accent will make it hard to understand her from time to time. While she does answer questions, asking the stupidest questions that she expects you to not ask will lead to your lab report grade getting docked. Be on time as you can expect a quiz every week.
This professor really isn't very helpful when it comes to labs. Her explanations of the lab are long and are all over the place, so when you try to find information to help you it is super scrambled. We had a sub one time and he was the best thing to come from this class, very helpful and not condescending like her.
I decided to take this course in hopes of learning physics and be prepared for Physics 50. I had to self-teach myself about most of the topics learned. If you know physics beforehand, then she is an okay teacher. I would not recommend asking any questions she expects you to know. A very condescending teacher. I had to drop to save my GPA.
Extremely slow at talking and her accent makes it super hard to understand. She is caring in a sense, but also will make you feel like an idiot from time to time. She expects so much from the students when she can't even properly teach.
Really unforgiving when it comes to missing class - Doesnt matter if your sick, theres a fire, or someone dies. Gives you a 0 for the lab even if you tell her your situation regardless of the circumstance. EVEN if you complete the lab and turn it in on time. She will also dock you points for asking questions. Not a very pleasant person.
Done take
Horrific professor. U can't miss class, regardless of reason(cancer/COVID, doesn't matter). Horrible grading criteria, says 1 thing does another. Extremely rude. Will take off participation points if u ask her something she's already said. Passive-aggressive. Refuses 2 answer emails on weekends, past 3pm, basically u can't ask for help.
Her class is extremely difficult. She doesn't make much sense, confuses herself a lot. Extremely judgmental when you ask her questions(you can tell she thinks your stupid, because she behaves condescending). If you ask a "dumb" question, consider your participation points gone.
A decent teacher, would not be my first choice but if you have no other option she is decent, it will work out as long as you put in the effort. There tends to be a huge range in midterm and final grades so people will either hate her or be neutral. If you have any problems, just go talk to her, she's really easy to approach.
Very confusing teacher. If you don't ask questions in the lab you get points off, but if you ask dumb questions(whatever she thinks is dumb), then you don't get participation points. Will think your cheating with anything small you do. Will watch you like a hawk during quizzes, and its really scary.
She is a caring lecturer. The exams are from practice problems, group homework, and review probelms
I took this lab last spring but I ended up dropping it and taking it this fall. She was my lab professor for both semesters. She a nice and knowledgeable lab professor. She really wants to help you to learn. Grading is fair. But if you plan to skip many lab meetings don't take her lab. She follows general lab 50 participation rule for your grading.
Extremely caring, makes extra effort to make sure that you understand the material and she is always available via email to answer questions. She tries to have an interactive lab while classes are online . During the lab meetings which attendance was required, my group mate would disappear, so he did not like her for checking the attendance.
She is truly a great professor, but you will have to study. She explains the material well and is not hard to reach her for help.
Very strict at grading and there's lots of homework. She only uploads her PPTs and doesn't upload the work done on them. A bad professor to be starting out with Physics as she's not really good at teaching. Curved heavily on midterms/quizzes/final which was a good thing for me.
This course is a challenging course, but if you follow her lectures and understand practice/ homework problems you will succeed. Offers extra credit which is great. She wants you to understand concepts. She was always available for more explanation, if I needed help. Provided videos of her lectures and solution to practice problems
Professor Sigari is a nice lecturer, although she is strict. Knows her stuff. She is a great help if you go to her office hours. Very accessible. Everything in the exam was covered in the class. She posted the video of lecture after each class meeting on canvas.
Last spring I took phy49 with professor Sigari and this fall I took phy50 with her. I did not know much Physics and she helped me to understand concepts and succeed in both classes. She helped me with my questions during her office hours. If you want to learn physics, take her class but if you are looking for an easy class don't take her class.
Knowledgeable professor, but wouldn't be my first choice. Her lectures were hard to follow at times cause of her handwriting. Curving + extra credit brought up my grade. In lab, she sometimes came off harsh when we asked questions. She wants you to do well but doesn't explain lab instructions clearly. Pre-lab quizzes are easy only if you prepare.
I took this lab in the fall. I learned physics from this lab. She was always available to answer my questions. She graded our reports every week and gave us useful comments in the reports.
This is a very hard class, but Professor Sigari makes time to explain things. It is up to you to ask for help. I found her caring and helpful.
She provided slides/videos with context about what expected from us. She gave us clear lab instruction and provided demo of the labs prior to having students doing it. She was continuously available during on line lab meetings and answered our questions
DO NOT take this class with SIGARI, its waste of your time/energy/effort. She is a horrible lecturer. She does not teach & I'm teaching myself this course. Unfortunately I have her for lab + lecture and its not fun. Live Zoom proctored exams and quizzes and she is quite rude and nosy. I went from being a positive person to a negative person :(
She was my lecturer last semester. Very patient and kind with students and help them to learn . She was available to help us during office hours and emails. I learned physics in her class. You would succeed if you put effort, although this course is a difficult course. This course is not for those who think they can pass without putting effort .
Sigari is a great professor. Her pre-lecture videos and her in class reaching is easy to understand. Gives group homework. Her exams are similar to what you do in the class or homework. I strongly recommend her class that you learn much. Also when students ask questions she is ready for your answers.
Overall, the consensus was "it seems like she wants you to prove to her not to fail you". Very lecture heavy and exam heavy - for the final exam she gave out a review and didn't even give us the answers to it so we had no idea if we did it right or not. Very intense, not any breaks/understanding for student struggles.
I just finished this course with her. Professor Sigari is a very good professor. She is very helpful and patient. Unfortunately, some students want to take advantage of her patient and want to do the least in the class. In general, very fair. Teaches well, fair amount of homework, and fair amount of help and supportive material.
Sigari puts lots of effort and provides resources for students to be successful. This course is not an easy course, some students did not follow her directions. I think all negative reviews are from those students , so they found the course hard. But Sigari patiently continued to put in the effort for our learning.
Study for tests given the study questions she gives, and understand the concepts behind the questions as they will most likely be different on the test. Only problems with this class I had was with her organization in lectures, her handwriting, and the multiple mistakes on tests that she last minute corrects, showing a slight lack of effort.
She gives decent amount of homework. Her review packets are very helpful. She teaches the material well. She grades quizzes and tests very fairly. Very patient and respectful to students.
I had phy50 lab with Professor Sigari. She was very caring and available to help us with our questions when we were doing any experiment. Very knowledgeable and could really answer your questions. Also, very fair grader.
Her prelecture videos were very helpful towards her actual lecture. Then she emphasized on important key details for specific topics and problem. Was very approachable and tried her best to encourage students to participate in class. Gave lots of great examples to learn from, didn't waste time. Always available to help students, open office hours.
If this is the only lab professor that you have available, I'd rather take this class at a community college. Pretty disrespectful, doesn't teach well, hard grader, and if you or another classmate trys to help with something, you get yelled at. She's usually angry, never seen her happy at all, and makes the class very stressful. Would not recommend
Professor Sigari is always available to kindly help students. She responds emails with our questions quickly with some guidance. The exams are similar to practices done in the class
Many typos in coursework. For example, never uses delta instead of sigma for uncertainty. Very disorganized, inconcise. Many things are taught incorrectly. Easier and better to teach yourself. If (when) you receive a bad grade, it's likely due to grading errors. Often the questions are problematic too. She can be mean to students who are struggling
I just completed my lab 50 with Professor Sigari. The exps were relevant to what we do in the lecture. I learned physics and enjoyed her lab. She is very knowledgeable. Very clear and fair. I really don't understand why someone would rate her so low (1!!!!????) while she is so nice and clear in the lab.
This is a late rating. I took this class during last summer. Prof. Sigari's Pre-lecture videos and lectures covered the material needed for the class. The classwork practice problems which she or students did during the class, were all relevant to the exams. 100% would take her class again in a heartbeat.
She helped me whenever I was stuck with my work in the lab. Once she spent about half an hour trying to find out what I was doing wrong with analyzing the data. She is a kind professor and really cares. very knowledgeable.
Sigari is easily the most frustrating professor I have taken. She has trouble communicating, emphasizes unimportant points and spends half of lecture on baseline stuff, and her attitude makes you (me at least) want to punch a wall. I found it easier to teach myself for her class. If you have any other option, I'd suggest taking it.
I just completed phy50 course with her. She is very caring and fair grader. This is a difficult class as long as you follow her instructions, and study the material she gives you. Then you will do a great job. You can either study and attend her class, watch pre-lecture videos, or fall asleep and skip the videos and learn on your own
Professor Sigari was my lecture professor and lab instructor during this fall . She is a gem. I actually learned physics and earned a very good grade. Her instructions and expectations are very clear. Her instruction in the lab was clear and helpful. Grading was very fair too.
I took AP PHY at high school before this class. In my opinion the material that she covered in this class is very accurate. The difference was the discussion on topics and problems were more in depth. She spent most of the class time explaining those complex steps. She's a great teacher if you pay attention in class and attend the classes
She was available to answer our questions in the lab. Very kind and patient. Sometimes explains things more than what we need though. Her pre-lab quizzes were related to day activity. Grading was very fair.
I took this course a couple of years ago. One of the best physics teachers you could possibly get. The grading was fair and she was always more than happy to help if you needed anything. She made the class so interesting with so many physics demonstrations. The quizzes and exams were from the material covered and practiced in the class
This is a difficult course. But Pro. Sigari did everything in her power to make it as comprehensive as possible. She tried to help everyone. She is very passionate about teaching this course. It is not her fault if a student decides not to study for the course and later writing false statements about her.
She really knows the topics and wants everyone to learn and succeed. Shes very clear about what will be on the test during lectures. If you pay attention in class, the tests should be easy as they're basically just copies of examples but with different numbers.
She's a good teacher. She knows what she is talking about. If you attend her classes and pay attention, you should do well. She is very interactive and ready to help you.
She is one of the best professors I've had so far. She will go out of her way to make sure you understand the material. I wish she was teaching lab 51 too
Overall, very good instructor. Fair and reasonable expectations.
Incredibly helpful if you don't fully understand concepts. Very accommodating to students outside of class. I did not have a good physics background, but I truly learned from and enjoyed this class. Just attend her class and participate actively.
I took this course last semester and found her very helpful. She is really here for the students. It is not just a job for her. Shes so willing to help her students and if she finds out that you want to learn, shell bend over backwards to help you understand all that you can!
She is very motivated in teaching her students. She is also extremely knowledgeable and tries to facilitate students' learning. She does a good job going over the lab requirements and procedures and she provides great help during them.
Professor sigari really wants her students to succeed, go to lectures and participate and youll get an A easily. Her exams are easier than the homework. She conducts discussions and solves questions in lecture so most students undertake the subject there. It is easier to ask her than randomly look for a youtube video.
I took this class with Prof. Sigari last semester. She is a great Professor. She has a deep subject matter knowledge and always ready to help you. She is very fair. If I have a chance to take another course with her, I will do with great pleasure.
Worst teacher I've ever had. Lecture slides and tests riddled with grammatical errors, which is a death sentence in physics problems. Questions aren't welcome, and the people who ask them are oftentimes scolded. If you try to go against her in any way, she flips out. Taking this class means watching organic chem tutor for hours, just to catch up.
Perhaps she is different in in-person classes, but her online class is a pain in the arse. She expects you to know the knowledge before entering the class, which is strange since aren't teachers supposed to "teach"? She sometimes doesn't understand questions and assumes students asking questions weren't paying attention even if it was to clarify.
I really don't like to give bad reviews but this is necessary. The only way to succeed in this class is to be an excellent self-teacher. Her pre-lecture videos, which are (1-2) hours long, contain simple problems which are explained but group homework and midterm preps are lengthy, complex word problems. Unfortunately, she's not very approachable.
All these few poor reviews are really confusing to me. Sigari is great. I took this course last spring online. She is very kind and approachable. Provides very clear material, examples and discussion which makes it easy to succeed. She is always available to help.
I took AP physics in high school so every topic I learned in this class was review. However, I'm writing this review from a very real and unbiased standpoint. Sigari doesn't deserve these negative reviews. Put in the extra effort by taking notes during her Pre Lecture Videos and take your own notes during class so you can understand.
She will drive you crazy at first with her lab policies and lack of instructions but it honestly gets a lot better. The first 2-3 labs were awful because the grading criteria wasn't clear but the other ones are a lot easier as she tells you exactly what she wants. After you get into the swing of things most lab periods are pretty quick and easy.
She is a good lab instructor. When you ask her a question, she patiently answers your question and explains things very clearly. I learned physics in this lab. Experiments are related to the week's lectures.
Had Prof Sigari for both lab and lecture, and is very helpful IF you ask for help. She provides lots of chances to make up scores, and her pre-lecture videos are very detailed. She curved our midterms when she saw we were struggling. In lab, she is patient and is willing to help you if you need it, but you NEED to ask her.
Professor Sigari often makes an effort to be helpful and accommodating to students who have difficulties in her class. She will gladly offer help, but you must let her know that you need help. Purchasing a textbook is not required.
I will say this, she is a fair grader, that is probably professor Sigari's strongest trait, but that is about it. Her class is not difficult, but she is such a hassle to deal with; she makes a ton of simple mistakes in class, and often gives wrong solutions to questions, and she will make you feel stupid if you participate in class.
This is the 2nd time that I am taking this course. Professor Sigari is a great professor. A helpful and patient one too. She goes over many example problems in the class so makes understanding of physics more. She records her lectures and posts keys of assignments. The exams are from review, homework, and problems done in the class.
Professor Elaheh is nice and great. I like participating in her class. I am computer sciences major but her teaching style makes physics easier to learn. I am taking this class in summer so it's a fast pace lecture but she still explains everything clearly enough. The review problem sets helped a lot in preparing for exams. Highly recommend her.
Terrible. Avoid at all costs even if you like physics, choose someone else. She will dump things on you if you don't pay attention with no explanation. She is really quiet, so try and sit at the front of the class but her voice can get really annoying. Terrible hand writing if I might add, so take your own notes.
Seems to have an attitude of "the student is wrong I am right". Will take points off if you come to her with "stupid questions". Generally unapproachable.
Prof. Sigari works hard to help students to learn. She always have busy office hours and is available through email to answer our questions. I like the practice problem. If you seriously you do well. Complainers want an easy class.
This did not feel like an intro to physics class. If you have not taken AP physics or physics honors in highschool, get ready to work hard because she expects us to already know this stuff.
She is difficult to interact with, though she wants to give students a fair chance at succeeding, she often fails at that when she acts in an extremely unprofessional manner.
She is hard to deal with during lectures, tends to not accept excuses for inability to attend, and is very unprofessional. My experience with Professor Sigari is not pleasant, and it was hard for me to succeed in her class considering the circumstances she put me under
She is not the type of professor to get the information out to you, and she tends to let her ego get the best of her judgement. Frankly, I would recommend you just skip taking a class with her, getting a good grade is not hard, but she makes it as difficult as possible, I love physics, but this professor is just not it.
I honestly think that she is a good lecturer. If you put in work she goes above and beyond to help you. Very approachable in and out of class. She is kind and fair but she does not put up with any nonsense, that is why some students give her bad reviews. This is a difficult course, do not take her class if you are not ready to work hard.
The way that she taught this lab was very connected to lecture. She was knowledgable and kind. The pre-lab quizzes were connected to the day activity. A fair grader
teaching wise she is ok. I don't like how the class has pre lecture videos, they do help a lot though. my biggest problem with her is that she is very quiet, I had her in sci 142 and I swear the AC is louder than her. try sitting near the front if you can but I still had issues sitting in the third or fourth row. (she needs a mic)
She made physics easy to learn, The pre-lecture videos where very useful. Classwork and review problems helped a lot. Not a class for those who are looking for an easy class.
Easy course if you did physics in HS. The pre lecture videos are good and you have to do a short MC quiz regarding the concepts. She reviews the covered concepts at the beginning of class and then moves on to doing a ton of example problems. Assigns 5 group HWs throughout semester. Attendance mandatory since sometimes there was group classwork
She gives incredible pre lecture videos so you understand the topic before class. The midterms and the final were difficult but she gives a lot of extra credit.
Horrible grading, communication, and hard to follow.
Professor Sigari is a great prof. You can tell how hard she tries to teach the material that is new for many of us. I like how she wants us to focus on learning the physics not on just focusing on our grades by giving us the extra credits.
Sigari is a kind and knowledgable lab professor. If you ask her for help, she is there to help you. Her grading is very fair.
Her lectures were mediocre, she was decent at teaching concepts. Her pre-lecs and lecs could be confusing concept-wise sometimes, but overall they got the job done and were just okay. The assignments, lecture problems, and pre-lecture/concept quizzes she gives are a big help. It'll take some work but it's not too hard to pass with a decent grade.
Didn't attend many lectures tbh (already took AP Physics 1). Lectures are solid and helpful, but a bit quiet. Lots are on Canvas too. Doesn't like people w/ electronics during lectures. Minimal HW, mostly just review quizzes for lectures/tests (most of the Q's show up verbatim on the test). FRQ require showing a good amt. of work but they're fair.
Took this class last semester. Professor Sigari has her teaching style down to perfection. She provided a lot of ways to understand the concepts. She was helpful, understanding, and patient. Her pre-lecture videos, provided notes on canvas, and all of the resources available to study were very very important in helping me understand this class.
Lectures were pretty chill. There were demos here and there depending on the topic being discussed in class. There were a total of 6 quizzes throughout the semester. To study I would suggest reviewing the pdfs the professor posts. Do that and you should be able to do well. No final exam, instead the professor lets you retake a max of 2 quizzes.
Sigari is chill overall. Her handwriting can be tough to read so ask her to clarify. She has prelecture videos to explain content before class. Not necessary to watch ; better off self learning or asking friends. Study group hw practice/in class practice problems and you'll be good for quizzes.
Her prelecture videos were very useful. Helped me to learn better. A fair grader. Very caring
good luck
Prof. Sigari is one of the nicest lecturers that I had at SJSU. She listens to students and tries to help them. There are five quizzes with two make up options. I don't understand those few students who never show up in the class and only show up for quizzes. Then they don't do well and blame her.
Sigari's PHYS50 class is the first ever physics where I was able to actually learn and understand mechanics concepts. I've taken many physics classes and I could never understand anything until I took this class. To do good in this class, just understand the problems asked in class and in homeworks and you're good
Professor Sigari is caring towards her students and is willing to help throughout the lab period. Her pre-lab quizzes can be difficult, but generally help you practice and strengthen your knowledge in lecture.
This professor is disgustingly rude to all of her students. Talked down on students to her assistant and the whole class while in front of that same student. Has zero patience for anyone and WILL be rude to you no matter how you approach her. Avoid this lady at all costs
Took AP Physics 1 in hs, class was pretty easy. Only 6 unit quizzes, final was 2 retakes up to 100%. Lots of pre-lectures, time consuming but pretty helpful for the class. Homework is done with randomly assigned groups.
The exams are only 6 quizzes. It is lecture heavy. The review questions are useful to prepare you for the quizzes. Gives you the chance to retake two of quizzes. Very patient with students. The grading is fair,
no midterms instead she does 6 quizzes and the final is optional retake of 2 quizzes. lot of material given for quizzes(prelecture videos and quizzes, conceptual mcqs, HW problems, lectures) so it's important to put time outside of class to prepare for quizzes. her accent might be difficult to understand at times. otherwise she's not too bad
Professor S. demonstrated great passion and interest in teaching the course and very much wanted to share that passion with students. Was extremely helpful in providing resources such as in-class lecture, per-lecture videos, practice quizzes and additional problems from textbook. She 100% prepared students for the actual quizzes within her class.
Sigari is a demanding yet caring professor. Her class is not easy but it is also engaging. If you are willing to put in the effort, you will learn a great deal from this class
Terrible format for the class, most material is made in pre made videos and in class is simplifying it and hoping you watched the videos if not it's hard to understand the material. The format for the quizzes were terrible managed, many unclear instructions ending up getting lost or getting mad at her own TAs, don't misunderstand or it's a zero.
The lecturer is fair and knowledgeable. Demos based on the topic discussed. There six quizzes throughout the semester. The pre-lectures videos, lectures, and reviews are very useful. I would recommend going over those should hep you perform well. She allows you to retake up to two quizzes.
Boring class if you've taken AP Physics 1. Forced to take quizzes with partners.
She can come off a little tough but I found her to be a very good lecturer that cares about students. Her lectures are cohesive. You can learn the concepts through her lectures, videos, and practices Then you do very well if you want a hope of making a B or better. Take quizzes seriously.
This is the 2nd time taking this course. Last time I took it with another lecturer and had a difficult time understanding everything. This time, Prof Sigari explained everything clearly that I was able to learn the material. The pre-lec.videos were useful. The group tests helped me too. She has a deep understanding of the topics.
if you taken physics before easiest A of your life, if you haven't you'll fail because she don't teach.
Prof Sigari is an incredibly supportive lecturer. She explains concepts clearly and incorporates plenty of practices into the class discussions. I attended her classes almost regularly and found discussion to very helpful.
I took Professor Sigari's class and got an easy A. She's a great lecturer who breaks down tough physics concepts into simple sections and quizzes you on each one separately. Her lectures are good and she uses iClicker reviews, which helped me get the A. I highly recommend her!
avoid the class, can't grade consistently, and doesn't know anything about the subject, her students do the lecture problems cuz she can't comprehend the numbers correctly. take it with another teacher and save some stress.
She is kind and really cares about her students. The attendance is not mandatory and all notes are posted online for easy access. There are six quizzes, spaced almost every two weeks, consistently reflect the material covered in class and homework, making preparation easy and less stressful.Fair grader.I highly recommend taking this class with her.
I loved Ms. Sigari! She really cared for her students and made the course pretty chill for us. I also like the big theater-style classroom, which makes me feel like young Sheldon! Overall, I would actually recommend her if you need physics to graduate from SJSU. She was the only one who never used the classic stressful midterms and final.
She's not the best at explaining things but if you really pay attention during her lectures you'll be fine. Does not have any midterms or finals, just 6 quizzes throughout the semester on different topics in the course so the quizzes are pretty important for your grade. Has you work in groups of 3 for homework. Overall not horrible but not great
She is one of the best physics lecturers that I had at SJSU. I finished another physics class after hers and it was then I realized how knowledgable and great lecturer she is. Her teaching was well planned, timely, and to the point.
Sigari's PHY50 class is pretty manageable. Prelecture videos and study group homework practice are super helpful. Leveraging resources like unstuck ai alongside the class materials can make a big difference. Attendance is mandatory but the grading is fair.
She is passionate about what she does. One lesson I learned in her class is that you really have to commit and apply yourself to see good results. The PL videos, and lectures were helpful. This is a tough class, and while some students may try to get special treatment, she stays firm. Ultimately, she truly cares about her students' success.
This lady is rude and not afraid to call you out if you're shy. She forces you to work in partners and doesn't tell you about the $110 textbook until the first day of class. The information about the textbook was in the syllabus, but guess what! This lady published the course syllabus for the wrong class!! Easy class, rude person.
Lady's scary. I'm too scared to ask her questions because she just seems so unwelcoming.
Decent professor, caring yet demanding. Lectures were ok, sometimes easy to follow and other times very hard. You have 6 exams, with the final being two retakes. Most of the test questions are predictable, seen already. The curriculum was tough, but manageable. Requires watching videos for homework, but they explain a lot. Put in the time.
Unjust, unfair and lacks the compassion to connect, communicate or serve us as students. She uses the fact that she's “not paid enough” to cover up her bad experiences in her class past and to justify not getting to help all of us. If you ask questions on why you did something wrong on a test and it's “unjust” you get points removed! Crazy class.
This professor is very patient and knowledgeable, She puts in her best effort in the class, but this subject is difficult. I don't really understand why a few students treat her unfairly, rather than owing up to their own mistakes.
Genuinely a good professor. She messes up sometimes during lectures, but still knows her stuff. Other students aren't taking accountability when the reviews are similar to the quizzes. All you need to do is make your attempts and not answer things senselessly. She makes it easier to understand. Her online writing is harsh. In person she's caring.
You need to be in the class for iClicker questions which are graded which is helpful to prepare for the quizzes. I like that there are six quizzes instead of big exams, with the option to drop a low quiz grade and to make up another low grade quiz. She shows enthusiasm while she teaches with demos here and there. Is approachable and caring.
the class itself isnt hard but attending lecture was Miserable since she WILL spend a considerable amount of lecture telling you that you are not prepared for the next exam (how encouraging!), AND u need to dedicate 2 classes worth of your time (theres hour long prelecture vids that are sometimes very convoluted ALONG with hour long lecture..)
Honestly I don't understand why a student complains about having to put work for this course. It's not an easy class, but her PL videos help to learn better and we can go back and watch them again. The lectures are clear and are not long, include practice problems. She is helpful in clarifying questions about the class material during office hrs.
Terrible communicator
Don't skip lectures, and watch her pre-lecture videos before the lectures. From what I heard, her class was really easy until THIS semester. She started making the quizzes harder, and she doesn't communicate very well with students. If you have the option to pick a different professor, do it. Trust me.
She's a good lecturer and a fair grader. Most of what was on the tests came straight from lecturers or homework, there weren't any surprises. First I was in her bigger class. Didn't like how some students didn't want to do their part. It kind of brought the vibe down. If you can, go for her smaller class. I ended up transfer to her smaller class.
She's a knowledgeable lecturer. Made the course fun. The real life examples and demos keeps things interesting and easy to connect with. She's super kind and approachable. I did notice a few students seemed to think they could take advantage of her kindness, but she stood her ground when needed. The way she set up the exams and HW was helpful.
This class is manageable. Includes 6 quizzes (some in pairs, grade could be substituted or make up two quizzes at the end of the semester), 6 bi-weekly labs (a 7th lab available as a redo), and 6 group homework—iClicker participation during lectures, no final. If you have a basic understanding of physics, you'll be well-prepared for this course.
Ms. Sigari is a caring, supportive, and knowledgeable lecturer and a fair grader. Her class is pretty manageable; no stressful midterms and finals, just 6 quizzes. Quiz questions are predictable; most from HW and Conceptual Questions. PL videos & lectures are so helpful. Honestly, anyone complaining just failed to do their work or listen to her!!
She is one of the best professors I've had at SJSU. She's incredibly caring and has the ability to make complex physics concepts easier to understand. That said, be prepared to work hard, especially if you are taking this class with limited physics background. But with her support, success is within reach.
The class is fairly easy. Sigari breaks down the class into 6 quizzes worth 12.5% of your grade. They're all predictable as they're taken from the assignment due the night before the exam or taken directly from lecture. She makes it easy to get A. Solid lectures though her handwriting can be atrocious at times. Very caring in smaller groups.
6 quizzes with 6 HW (done in a group). Prelecture videos (that are mid) come with a quiz. If your class performs bad, she scolds you each lecture. She has bad handwriting. She freaks out about people emailing her with complaints. She barely gives enough practice problems. She bad mouths department staff. We needed so many crutches to pass her class
She's fair, and was available to help us outside of class. Offered 2 makeup exams at the end of semester to help improve our grades. While her handwriting can be hard to read for some, I need to add that she stands firm against students who didn't put in work. These type of students respond with complaints and say untrue things about her.
Awesome professor who makes expectations and grading criteria super clear. There are only six quizzes given every two weeks. You don't have to stress about big exams. Getting an easy A is totally doable. Just be sure to keep up with iClicker participation and study for the quizzes. Pre-lecture videos and lecture activities are super helpful
Nice professor who makes the grading criteria clear. This class is split into six quizzes and some of them are done by group, and the quiz consists of mcq questions and 1 frq question, which are very doable if you practice the material she gives you and you spend a lot of time studying. Make sure to attend class as well.
A great professor with clear expectations for homework and exams. She's very helpful, approachable and kind, qualities that are especially important in a professor. Her class is not for those who plan to show up only for exams. Be sure to attend class regularly for iClicker participation.
if you are a lazy student, this professor is not for you. However if you are open and willing to put in the work to learn then she is a very great professor. She may seem stern, but that is because she cares about the success of her students. One of my favorite professors ive had.
Sweet lady, no finals just 6 quizzes, allows you to drop 1 and retake 1. Uses iClicker, when studying for quizzes just do her quiz reviews for an easy B and up, as long as you show up and pay attention you'll pass guaranteed. Doesn't allow phone usage in class, and as a class skipper I will say I struggled a bit but for the most part you'll live.
Knowledgeable professor with clear expectations and grading. The class includes six quizzes with multiple choice questions and one or two free response questions, some group-based. They're manageable with consistent studying, especially if you use her materials and attend class. Earning at least a B is totally doable.
the class overall is not that hard. for our semester, we had 6 quizzes with no final or midterm. the final was for anyone who wanted to retake 2 quizzes on which they received a score below a 75%. There are 6 homework assignments as well, but they are supposed to be done with a group. now about her lecture style, her handwriting is like a doctor.
She was really nice. I liked how she broke course material down for us piece by piece. Prelecture videos helped me get some background before class, and the practices we did during classes really helped everything stick. That way, I didn't have to cram everything right before quizzes. I liked being in her big lecture class.
Uses flipped classroom, not the best teaching style imo. 6 quizzes no final/midterm, group hw. A lot of self teaching needed as her lectures are treated as review. Taking this professor means ur paying tuition to teach urself. Assignments themselves are mangable. However, could js be cuz im not smart, but its a struggle to learn new concepts w her.
Dropped since this teacher doesn't actually teach students. She gives out pre lecture video and quizzes that are supposed to be due before the "real" lectures. Don't expect getting taught by her in person. All you do is iclicker problems that she wants done in 30-60 secs. She failed over half the class within the first 2 quizzes! TERRIBLE PROFESSOR
Took her class last year. I've taken more physics since, and she explains things better than most. PL videos help a lot, and in class she explains material in depth and expects participation. It's tough if you're unprepared, but she's fair and helpful. Saying she doesn't teach isn't true. I experienced that she just wants us to put effort too.
Uses flipped classroom which doesnt work w/ physics. had to rely on self-teaching to learn rather than the lectures. awful handwriting that jumbles together. prelecture videos are incoherent. 6 quizzes (can retake 1 & drop 1). uses iClicker which isnt bad. group homework which is okay. better off just watching organic chem tutor instead of lectures
A knowledgeable and passionate professor who teaches very effectively. I really appreciate how she explains concepts in depth. The practice problems she works through in class are well-organized and clearly explained step by step. A fair grader. She is very helpful during office hours and genuinely tries to help you understand the material.
Her class structure is good: 6 quizzes with 1 drop and 1 retake. Pre-lecture videos help you prep, and many MCQs on exams match the practice. However, she can be unreasonable; technical issues still led to some students getting 0s. Lectures are mandatory but very unhelpful and boring, mostly tangents that confuse people even more.
There are six quizzes, and for some, you can do part of it with a partner. The workload isn't too bad if you keep up with studying and use the instructor's materials. Class mixes lectures and examples, which really helps you get the material and feel ready for quizzes. Show up and stay consistent, and getting a B or higher is totally doable!
Lectures, practice problems, videos, notes, and homework match the tests well, which makes studying way easier and the exams way less stressful. Going to class helps a ton because she explains everything clearly. Her office hours are also helpful, and you can tell she actually cares about you understanding. I'd recommend taking this class.
Not really much teaching done in class. You basically have to teach yourself the entire material outside of the class. There is these pre lecture videos weekly about 2-4 hours weekly, You have to watch to understand anything as in the actual lecture she expects you to know everything. Half the class dropped the class and the average grade was 68%
I am finishing this course. Most students sticking around. The Pre-Lectures cover the basics. In class she reviews them with examples. If you show up and pay attention, you're set for the exams. Majority of students participate and focus. The group homework covers the rest. Overall, a good class, but if you plan to goof off, don't expect to pass.
She's a fair and kind lecturer, and I highly recommend her. I really appreciate that she gave us the chance to make up for one quiz and drop another low grade quiz. I was honestly surprised to witness a few students expecting even more from her in a rather pushy way
The class started off rocky, I think she wanted people to drop the course who weren't committed so she was making everything unnecessarily complicated. After the period to drop the course ended she became a lot more caring. She has poor handwriting which makes her lectures more difficult to follow, the group homework is also very annoying.
She is a sweet prof after the drop date. If you don't do well with online lectures this isn't the class for you as it's a "flipped class model". Attendance is kinda mandatory as she does iClicker questions and there's 6 quizzes that take up 75% of the grade. Besides that it's nearly impossible to fail. Drop 1 quiz, retake another. Easy hw.
She is a caring and great lecturer. Without her support and encouragement, I probably would have dropped the course. I'm really glad I stayed, went to class, and took her advice. I learned physics and I'm happy with my final grade.
Very sweet and amazing professor. No finals or midterms, grade depends on 6 quizzes. Easy to pass since you can drop a quiz and retake another. Don't take if you don't like online learning. She has long pre-lecture videos and mini quizzes. The class is generally easy to pass if you watch the videos and study a bit.
