I have been attending CBC for about 2 years and have taken many professors. None like her, she is horrible assigns way too much homework. She has us do argumentative essays on one specific topic. She is the most horrible teacher i have ever had. I dont recommend her. She acts as if her class is the only class we are taking. She is so inconsiderate.

She is a horrible instructor. I have a masters degree in English and a PHD education. My sister is in her class and she does an absolutely horrible job. Students don't get discouraged but avoid her class and refuse it if your adviser tries to sign you up. Maybe CBC will wise up and fire her eventually. None of her course work will help your future.

She assigned 8 essays per quarter then she would have us submit the first draft for "peer review". Only after that could we turn it in for a grade. After getting back a paper with a %25 on it, I asked her for feedback. She told me that she didn't have time to read all those essays. Avoid this teacher at all costs.

I agree with mostly everyone who has rated her.she is horrible! I used to love english and now i hate it all because of her. She gives too much homework like if we dont have any other classes. She has been the worst teacher ive ever had!

Wow! I took her for english 101 when I was a running start student (btw she HATES rs students, a counselor actually told me this before I started). She is ridiculous, just over the top rude and tries to make you feel bad about yourself. I am a great writer (I got 4.0 in both eng 201 and creative writing) but she grades horribly. A cute guy in my group who didn't even write half the assignments got a way higher grade than the girls who did 3x the work! Horribly unfair and rude. Also very snooty.

...I'm currently in her online Eng class...it's ridiculous. Tons and tons of homework;impossible to get a 4.0. On my first peer review I got a D-, when I had done an excellent job. You will HATE english when you are done with this class!!!!!!

Terrible, terrible instructor. I put lots of heart on a recent essay only to get less than a 50% total! Whatever you do, PLEASE don't take her! It's easier to learn at your own pace by browsing through articles than taking this work horse of an instructor.

The English class with this teacher was stressful and exhausting! Plan to spend 20 hours a week on homework and expect harsh grading on every assignment and essay. I loved English going into the class, but barely made it through the quarter. AVOID her at all costs or you will regret it later, trust me!

This professor teaching this basic English class thinks she's teaching for grad students majoring in English. Her grading is far too harsh for this level of schooling. She does her grading AFTER the deadline for you to drop the class so you won't know if you're failing until it's too late.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! I am currently enrolled and have NO idea what my grade is. She grades super harsh,and i easily spent 20-30 hours a week on her class alone. An assignment is due almost everyday

I was very disappointed with this class, I thought it would be hard, but not impossible. Unless you are willing to follow a tyrannical writing style in which you have no freedom of expression and thought, do not take this class. I took AP English in high school and took an english class at UW, but this was by far the hardest and worst class.

This class was horrible. Ms.Meiners was an extremely hard grader and never really taught the material. The class was suppose to be Engl 102 but she taught & expected us to be at a level well above that when we started the class. The average grade in the class was a 45. I would not recomend her at all

This class was a joke. Ms. Meiners was no help and graded completely different than her OWN rubric said. When asked about my grade, I was told my grade was staying at a 10%, though she had no justification. She also doesn't grade until AFTER the drop date so you don't know your grade. DO NOT TAKE CLASS FROM HER! You will end up wasting money.

Absolutely horrible teacher. Her class is laid out online in a way that even the computer literate cannot navigate it properly. She is a rogue grader. She grades things completely separate of her rubric. I had an English major critique my paper, they said it was good, yet I received a 35%! Several of my classmates had the same issues. 50% pass/fail

This is by far the worst english teacher I have had, her grading completely contradicts her instructions for the assignments. I would recommend taking a course of hers as a last resort.

NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS. You may learn how to analyze texts more but there is SO MUCH work it doesn't matter. You constantley have something to turn in and she WILL NOT accept late work. Also she likes to fail people. I have been a 4.0 student since the 5th grade and work my butt off to keep my grades and I have a C in her class. She is unreasonable

She is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. I put effort into this class and received nothing from her. I strongly recommend you never take a class from her.... Seriously you will regret it.

Just don't do it. Never failed a class in my life until this. Never even had a C. She will act like she's trying to help but it won't. Realized I was in a bad spot, so went in and talked to her. She said she would let me turn in a rough draft (which she normally doesn't do). Fixed every single thing on the paper she didn't like, still got a 54%.

Worst teacher ever. She doesn't tell you what you did wrong till after your essays are all in, making you fail every time. Don't take her class.

She talked quite a bit about her personal opinions and about the military, that's was okay. She wanted us to write a specific way in our final essay but more than 90% percent of the class didn't get what she wanted. Her explanation. Thinks students should understand what is going on in her mind. It was an okay class but I don't recommend the inst.

No updated help, grades come about a month late, responds to emails about once every week. Mandatory attendance or removed from course without notice, we're down to 9 right now, including myself. Grades are not based on her rubric, expect perfect scores in one or two categories, zeros in the rest. She wants you to leave the class, makes grades easy

DO NOT TAKE HER!! I had an A in the class until the last 3 weeks when her grades for essays that I sent in 8 weeks and 3 weeks prior were finally graded and sent back with little explanation as to how the grade was received. I have 2 more essays to turn in, but now my grade is a D with no chance of recovery.

DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE! Instructor is not helpful and course work is extremely hard. I would not wish this course upon anyone. I passed barely, because I gave up every minute of my free time. If you take it then do not forget that I have warned you........

I would recommend to NEVER take a class from this lady. She is rude and doesn't know how to teach. Doesn't grade on time. 4 weeks into the course she gives you back papers and doesn't give you advice how to fix them before the next paper is due. Stay away!!

HORRIBLE TEACHER. You get grades back pretty much at the end of the quarter, so you never know what you are suppose to work on. Leaving you to guess if your doing ok or not. I reached out more then once for help and did not receive it in time to finish the said issue.

The graded assignments were returned almost too late to be of any help on the major essays. The actual assignment was hidden on the final assignment submission page. Nothing directed you there, but the assignment could only be found by clicking on "previous pages". They were extremely well hidden. I wasted a lot of time and have to now start over.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR! I took English 102 Online to complete my English credits. There are 3 major essays thrown at you towards the end of the quarter. She takes forever to grade them so you don't have time to correct mistakes in next essay. I tried emailing her for advice & help and she deleted my email. Save your time & $$$!

Hands down worst "teacher" that I have taken yet and I graduate with my AA next quarter. Her feedback after giving you an F on a paper is not helpful. She is not an advocate for your success. Save your money, time and sanity and do not take this "teacher"!!

Horrible. Grading is ridiculous.

This is by far the hardest class for me, and I have received the lowest grade in my life. She starts out sounding nice and then throws 3 long essays near the end of the quarter. She takes her time grading these, so you can't implement her hieroglyphic comments into your next essay. She is also hard to get a hold or for explanations.

Average grade on the first essay was 44 out of 128. She does not explain what was wrong with it. Finding the directions to any of her assignments is a nightmare. With this being an online class I had to have more then 5 tabs open at once to read all the directions for one assignment. Would not take again even if you threatened me.

Easily the worst professor in the English department. Confusing online layout, doesn't give feedback, and is a very harsh grader. She is very slow to grade assignments and before you know it, you're failing the class and she won't respond to emails. I don't think this professor likes her job. Save your money, take English with someone else.

Got stuck with her, shes the only professor who still has 20+ spots open at the end of registration..... You can probably tell why. The worst class/prof ever, save yourself and don't let her be your only option for this class! Register early!!!

Ridiculous. Will NEVER take this from her again. Her grading is vague, don't expect anything to be graded in a reasonable time, and DON'T even think about arguing your standpoint with her. She'll continue to mark you down. Shoot yourself in the foot before you take this class. It's a joke.

Read bad reviews of her class on here but decided to take it anyway. Big mistake. After getting a nearly 100% grade in my ENG101 class I dropped her class with a 49%. Has extremely specific requirements for essays, none of which are clearly explained. Very confusing class. Mess up on one thing and your grade is done for.

She takes forever to grade. By the time the date came to decide to drop the class she didn't put in grades, which makes you not drop the class. It happened to me and I'm sure I am not the only one! She doesn't give clear instructions either. Every essay given was really confusing. Just don't take her class if you don't want to fail!

She is super hard on grading! Took her class online and it's a bit confusing the way it's outlined. First time I've failed a class. Do not take her if you need to pass or need the class for credit! Had no idea how to improve with each paper. Had a C until the last paper. Overlooked the fact that the last paper was supposed to be 6 pages long!

This teacher is very hard on grading. I am an A/B student and I spent 20 hours a week on her class and I received a D in her class. That was with extra credit. I had no idea how to improve and I went to her office and talked to her. I paid a lot of money to take this class and I'm trying to get into the nursing program. I am so mad!

She is very vague and doesn't explain to you what you do wrong on assignments. Her grading is super tough even if you answer the exact questions she gives you over the weekly readings she will not ever give full credit. I wouldn't recommend taking her class at all. She is also horrible at replying to emails and when you need help she isn't there.

Does not mark papers or provide a grading rubric. Don't expect to get a paper back with 100%. Quizzes are very "who, not what". Lectures trail behind readings by a large margin. The late passes are nice, I guess.

I was going to be communications major, so I consider myself strong in the subject. I'm also pretty fair minded about course load expectations for online classes. There's 3 major papers (easy prompts), but were not graded until the last was nearly due. I passed by just several % and do NOT reccomend for even my worst enemy. She wants you to fail.

Very harsh grader that leaves you no room for error. Even if you follow MLA guidelines you need to make sure they are HER guidelines as well. She takes a long time to grade anything and feedback is short coming unless you pin her down in a meeting. This is a class that demands every moment of your attention, and its not worth it in the least. Avoid

Meiners is a very tough and tricky grader. In the reviews of my drafts she would often forget to point out flaws, thus it would surprise me when I would receive the final with a low grade. It's hard to improve these papers because she gives them back after you finish the rest.

she is serious and hard to pay attention too. she would cancel class a lot (like she didn't even show up for the midterm) and assign work through canvas and then would get mad when nobody understood the material.

Don't take this class! She gives way to much homework and not enough time to do it. She is a really hard grader. Tries to act nice but you can tell she isn't. Doesn't go into detail about expectations on assignments, too vague. But then gives you a bad grade for not doing it right.

Terrible instructor. Never gave feedback in a timely manner. When she did it was to late to use the information on the next assignment that was due. I worked very hard to barely pass. She honestly never responded back to my emails when I needed help or feedback. Cbc should reconsider her employment.

1. She has outlines with expectations for the class but they are hard to follow visually and logically 2. Due dates will constantly overlap, essays due the same time as two readings and a "worksheet" 3. When readings are due you'll have a quiz, then go over the reading in detail afterwards 4. She over-explains simple and under-explains complex

Im currently taking Meiners class and I fully regret it. She is a THOUGH grader, she barely gives feedback and she expects you to be writing as if you had an English degree. I have a 66% in class and theres still two major papers due, Ill most likely WD. PLEASE DONT TAKE HER!!! The majority of people in my class is failing or barely passing.

Although I passed the class, BARELY mind you, she gives out way too much tedious work, and expects you to write all assignments the exact way she would. She explains assignments as if toddlers can do them, but when the assigment ACTUALLY comes, its far more difficult than she makes it seem. Would not recommend.

Worst teacher ever! She graded really hard and lots of Essays. Everything was mostly based on a book. I passed English 102 with an A which is funny because it is a higher level class.

If you plan to take English 101 at CBC, do not take your class with Elaina Meiners. She is an absolutely ridiculous teacher. First Essay of the class and the majority of the class got below a 60%. I had to drop her class - found out months later that dropping her class put me below credit threshold for financial aide and lost aide.

Took mythology online & it was a hard course. English was always my best class & essays have never been a problem. I also love mythology & look it up in my free time. This teacher grades very hard & the only feedback I got back was to check the grading criteria which is not clear. Mostly boring reading and discussions. Don't take this teacher. Hard

I've completed two degrees with focused majors from CBC now and I have yet to find another professor as frustrating as Elaina Meiners. 80% of your grade will come from three essays total that need to be "at a junior level for a university". Prepare to wait for grades until the deadline for refunds for the class have passed. High risk no reward.

She does not grade papers in a timely fashion, provides poor direct feedback to allow you to improve. Instead she just grades a rubrick. Poor directions for assignments. I had been warned but had no other choice than to take her.. I should have waited to graduate!

DO NOT TAKE HER!!! Will give you a zero on whole essay for a small mistake. Doesn't grade assignments in timely fashion (even if she is aware of withdraw deadline). I never had a problem with English until now, ended up failing the class. Waste of time/money/effort.

She tells you to use the previous essays as guides on what you have done wrong for the next essay. She didn't get the essays back before the next one was due! It took her weeks to grade the first two essay and a half a day to grade the last essay which was worth 150 points. You miss one thing on the directions, you get a zero!

DO NOT TAKE HER!! I dont care if your the best writer ever. I always got 100% in English until I took her. She will belittle you and make you feel stupid. She also gives you a zero on the whole assignment if you forget a period. I dont know whats going on with her life but she takes it out on the students. Shes a psycho. NOT LYING!

She grades too harshly for an English 102 class. Gives no direction. Also refers you to the grading rubric. Last I remember a teacher is supposed to teach. She lacks teaching skills. Ive always been a A-B student and she gave me a C. Messaged everytime to discuss improvements but she had no interest and referred me to the Syllabus. I dont recomme

English 102 is still a beginner class but she treats her students like they are taking English 400! She grades way to hard for this course. Small mistakes result in getting a zero on the entire paper even if the paper is like 10 pages long. I do not recommend taking her. Just throws the information at the students without actually helping them!

Extremely tough grader. Lots of homework and assignments due at a quick pace in the beginning. The only things I did bad at were the essays, which determine most of your grade. However, she is really strict about what she wants yet she hands out your previous essays back after you turn another one in so you dont know what you did wrong.

Mieners didn't teach me much. She heavily relied on the readings. Tests on the reading before the lectures on the material. BIG PAPERS! TOUGH GRADER! 10/10 would never take again

I took this class 7 years ago and it still makes me angry. My work in this class was graded harshly and inconsistently. Elaina was unclear in her teaching and was too subjective in her grading. She also laughed in my face when she declined to let me audit the class in order to save my GPA. I still remember her as the worst teacher I ever had.

I cannot believe that this professor is still employed by CBC. If I did as poorly as she does at my job I would have been fired long ago. She gives no constructive feed back, is rude and unhelpful. I'll save you the hassle.... DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES.

She isnt a fan of giving full points for any grading criteria on essays. She isnt specific on assignments and will deduct points if you dont magically read her mind on what she wants. She relied only on assigned readings, lecture notes and her vague rubrics to do her job for her. She will not answer your questions timely or specifically. Abort!

Very tough grader and will except your first assignment to be perfect, or will give you a F. The course requires a lot of reading and she doesnt explain a lot of the text. I would not take her again, Im a really good student in all of my other classes and am struggling a lot with hers.

I passed her class but I wouldn't recommend taking her course. Over half the students dropped out by the drop out deadline. I think the worse part about this course is I would have my wife who recently received her B.A. in English from Washington State University review and edit my paper based on her rubrics, and I would still receive low grades.

You might be able to pass her class but if you do you won't get a good grade in it. She bases most of her grades on only 2 essays and is the toughest most unhelpful grader I've ever had. I spent two weeks working on my final paper and took it to the writing center twice and still got a 65 on it. Wouldn't have passed if I didn't do the extra credit.

Took a great professor for 101 and felt really great about writing papers for once in my life, then she completely changed it all up and made us write papers like we were in high school again. Horrible at explaining what she wants you to do. Puts grades in like a month later. Very boring lectures and hard grader for no reason. Not a good class.

Meiners is the absolute WORST professor I have ever had. Please, for the love of god, do not take this class. I got a B, and another literature professor I had told me that was the highest grade he has heard of anyone getting in this class. The only good thing was the late passes.

The entire class was about Murder Mysteries (you pick a person or topic at the start of the quarter then you are stuck with it the entire class. You write 6 papers about the same topic). I highly recommend not to take this class. Tons of homework all the time.

I went on here and saw her ratings and bad comments, but I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. That was a big mistake. Most of the grade is based on the two essays that have unbelievable and nit-picky requirements. She gives little feedback and when you ask her for more, she refers you to the rubric. One of the worst professors Ive had.

Prof. Meiners has a very misconstrued idea on what truly matters in grading a college essay. There are many small, unnecessary details that one must pay attention to. She restricts the students capability to receive a fair and accurate grade. If one small detail is missed it will result in a 0. I simply gave her a "hilarious" because she is a joke

She provides FAR too much information built wihin layers of modules that make it difficult to find documents. Extremely hard grader with no grades for effort. Everything was reading and there were no videos. High expectations without giving much effort to communicating.

This woman is a joke for a teacher. She does not care for her student's well being in any way shape or form. There is only 2 papers for her class which she grades late, with no possible way to make up points or redo assignments. Extremely unforgiving. Her class is a waste of time. If I could give her a zero I would.

All the assignments were laid out with clear expectations with what she wanted. HOWEVER, she grades really harshly and does not give ANY feedback for what you could do better. Even when I emailed and specifically asked questions in regards to what exactly was wrong with certain assignments she gave me zero answers.

I am currently taking her summer course, and this is ridiculous. She hides all the information in layers upon layers of modules. Bases all of her work out of two text books, and blows through them incredibly fast. She hasn't graded practically any of my work that has been turned in. For example we are on discussion #5 and she has only graded the #1

Worst professor I have had to date. Horrible communicator! Does not get back to you on anything. States you will receive grades on thesis "almost immediate" but that's not true AT ALL. You want to know why students are suing colleges during Covid, this is a prime example why. Her pushing of politics is obvious. ZERO help or critiquing. Warned!!!

She gives a lot of homework and make sure you read the textbook. She has a strict grading criteria. I would give her a higher rating but on my final essay, i cited all my in text citations and forgot to add my last work cited on my works cited page. Got a zero but that just shows me that she looked at my works cited page first not my actual essay.

Failed every one of my essays, even after having a different English professor edit it. NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS!

Meyers is one of the worst professors I've ever had. Almost failed me for a paper that I got edited by another professor and he said it was good. Had to retake English 101 and got an A with half the effort from this class. It's almost like she likes failing students. Terrible!

TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!!! Extremely micro managerial with her teaching styles. Her requirements for the 2 essays that she assigns per quarter are ridiculous. I used an extra source on the first essay of the quarter and received a 0/100. Easily the worst professor I've ever had.

The only class I have ever failed in my life was this class and it's the reason I changed majors. She expects too much out of college students who also have jobs. She is the toughest grader I have ever taken and because of this I got a 0/100 on my final paper because it wasn't enough according to her standards. NEVER TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall the class is interesting, its just her who makes it unbearable and she LOVES to take off points for even the littlest details. Nothing ever seems to satisfy her and her grading standards are TOO high. She takes forever to grade too.

No mercy. Plain and simple a made ONE mistake on my final essay and went from a 82% to failing because she gave me a 0 on my final essay. Didnt even read it. Do not recommend. Offered me a late pass and still docked me about 75% not to mention the most strictest grader Ive ever had. Dont take this professor for this course.

Expect for this teacher to grade you on things completely irrelevant to the assignment. "Lectures" are a few links with each only having a few sentences that only somewhat relates to the assignments she gives. She has you basically teaching yourself with a book. Grades incredibly harsh for no reason. Please don't take her, worst teacher I have had.

This professor is one of the hardest graders I have ever seen. Seems to rant back at you when you make a mistake, overall Very rude if you do something wrong. Essays are horrible. A terrible experience overall, this course with her is what you stay away from. Best thing of this course is when its over.

Professor Meiners is an awful teacher. She doesn't teach the source material, instead, she assigns reading which rarely helps with the discussions and quizzes. She is bad at responding to emails. Meiners personally ruined my experience at CBC, it was all positive until I was assigned her course for my last quarter. She tends to fail assignments, and willfully ruins GPAs. An extremely unreasonable prof. with an aggressive communication style. I learned nothing, this was a genuinely miserable class.Good luck if you take this course.

One mistake and you get an automatic 0, the teacher will not continue to grade your essays.

She wasn't very good at communication it was very hard to get in contact with her. I would message her on canvas let's say during the afternoon, but she wouldn't respond until the morning of the next day. She assigned a lot of textbook work and basically taught everything out of it. Also, extremely harsh when it comes to grading essays.

I sincerely wish I'd paid attention to the negative reviews this professor has received over the years. It doesn't matter how hard you work, how much attention you pay to detail, or how many hours you invest in her class. She doesn't want you to succeed. Period. The most unfair and uncaring teacher I've ever had. Please avoid at all costs.

Disrespectful of students' time. No video lectures. Sloppy notes provided with ridiculous amount of spelling/grammar errors. Does not revisit her own work as she expects students to do-she would see her errors. Gets by with bare minimum. Waste of money, I taught myself. Bad for morale.

Regularly treats student like they are stupid with long-winded and unnecessary explanations of simple concepts usually not even related to course material. Gives little time for readings before the material is needed for assignments. The worst offence is the constant use of bitmojis.

Worst English teacher I have ever had. She takes months to grade assignments even essays. She gives very vague corrections She also only skims through essays. She also talks down to the students and makes them feel like they will never succeed. I made one mistake and she was use exclamation points in her corrections back to me. Avoid at all costs.

Literally awful. I got a D+ due to her horrible grading system and her inability to do her job. Do not have her as your professor. If you do, I apologize and prepare to suffer.

The teacher relies on textbooks instead of teaching. In my opinion, lazy. In the final, she asks for 18 quotations in one piece of writing. If you do not meet any of the requirements stated (which are difficult to follow) you will be given a 0.0 on the assignment and given vague/no feedback on why you were given the grade. Do not take.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This class is insanely difficult and impossible to get a good grade in. I have never had a professor who has such an unreasonable grading policy. If you make even one single mistake on an assignment, she will give you a zero. It is extremely difficult to pass this class, and practically impossible to get a good grade.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, PLEASE! If you want to drown in a truly baffling amount of reading, then this class is for you. I thought I was going crazy before I looked at the RMP rating and realized how bad this teacher truly is.

Do not take this professor if you want to feel any sort of joy and know what free time is. She writes so much for every single assignment and it is hard to find what the actual requirements are. She also says that you will get an automatic zero if you do not meet every single requirement but what she expects is ridiculous. Just overall horrible.

Do not take this class!!! She is an unreasonable grader, and in every single assignment, there is so much written out you cannot understand the point of the assignment and the expectations of the assignment. If you fail to meet EVERY SINGLE expectation of assignment you will get an automatic zero. (even though her instructions are never clear)

Gives automatic 0s for any missing requirement on assignments, especially the major final at the end. Also requires that the final be turned in, or you fail the class regardless of your grade. I didn't find most of the assignments difficult, except for the major ones, due to how much she demands from you. She admits it from the start. DON'T TAKE.

Do not take! she does not care about her students, she takes Weeks to grade papers, she does not give feed back, and she does not respond to her emails. There are no lecture videos and her instructions are unclear. If you make one small mistake you will receive a 0 "assignment not submitted" As a running start student this class was horrible!

This class wrecked me, as a 4.0 high school student who has taken multiple running start classes. The questions in quizzes were impossible to find, the discussions were impossible to do to her vauge instructions. Not to mention, SHE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH, she says she has time set aside to email, yet it takes days.

She is discriminatory. I did not get equal extra credit opportunity as someone who is not disabled.

It's not that this class is necessarily hard, but the grading is crazy. The quizzes it's a bit hard to find the answers within the required books, I swear some answers were not found within the book. She provides vague instructions for projects and doesn't give much guidance; she provides no lecture videos which would of be helpful.

Avoid this class if you value your free time. The professor has unreasonable grading policies and vague assignment instructions. However, Unstuckstudy AI and other study tools like ChatGPT can be helpful for navigating the workload.

Do NOT enroll in her class. Her instructions for assignments are not clear&consist of multiple pages. I don't see how anyone who has a job & family can complete this class. I noticed half the class stopped posting on discussions, my guess is they dropped the class. I spent about 25-30 hours/week on assignments. The worst class I've enrolled in.

I enrolled in this course before reading the reviews. I did not want to lose my financial aid and that was the only reason stopping me from withdrawing the class. The final for this course is a big project that she will not give you feedback for. Ridiculous imo

This professor is absolutely terrible. Her directions are extremely long and hard to get through and you can't be missing a single aspect or you'll receive an automatic zero. She doesn't grade in a timely manner and her weekly quizzes take forever and the questions are extremely obscure. She really doesn't care about helping students improve.

The amount of work she has us do is ridiculous. We have to spend so much time on the projects, and if you miss ANY requirements it's an automatic 0 which i find extremely unreasonable and frustrating. Also her quizzes are so long, the layout for ONE WEEK is enough to make up at least two weeks worth of work. This class is so time consuming.

I was extremely disappointed with this class. The teachers' layout on Canvas was absolutely horrible. Different requirements for the same assignment on 20 different links. If you miss even just one requirement, listed in one of the 50 other pages of confusing text for an assignment, its an automatic 0.I think she got off on making this class hard.

The grader is very strict and requires a high level of specificity in writing. Generalizations are not acceptable, and every point must be explained in thorough detail. I am very good at English and always pass these classes but immediately started failing in this one. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER.

Elaina provides little to no meaningful feedback which made it difficult to improve on assignments that build on each other. She only communicates through messages with no office hours. Her assignments are simple yet written overly complicated. Avoid this class if you *want* individualized thoughtful feedback and fair/timely grades.

I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone who values their sanity. The professor is extremely strict, and has a policy where you can get an automatic zero on your work for not meeting a single requirement. The layout of her course is overly complicated, and don't expect her to give any useful advice if you reach out for help. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.

I would not take a class with this teacher again. Some students had to get the deans involved because of unfair grading. Her grading is very inconsistent.

The grading in this class is extremely strict, and missing even the smallest details can result in a zero for the entire assignment. This made the class incredibly stressful it messed with my mental health. This was the first professor I encountered at CBC with such harsh grading policies, and it resulted in the lowest grade I have ever received.

You'll not be taking an English class, this is a photography class masquerading as English. 80% of the entire class is taking pictures and you'll be penalized for writing too much. There's no grace while grading, if a single aspect of an assignment is missed (no matter how small, even in a massive project) you'll get a zero with no recourse

Unorganized directions on every assignment, tough grading, unnecessary and strict directions. There's really no way to receive a high grade in this class, no matter what this professor always finds something wrong with your work. This class also taught me little in terms of English.

She's the worst professor I've ever had. She's very rigid. She's awful at explaining things. The entire class was mostly taking pictures and writing Power points. It was a waste of time. Columbia Basin should really look into her lack of ability and skills.

Most difficult class I've ever taken at CBC. Class layout is very confusing and hard to navigate. Meaningful feedback is almost nonexistent. As someone who is fairly great at English, this class by far has been the worst. Mostly is filled with assignments based on taking photos every single day. Do not take this class for the sake of your GPA!

All throughout my school years, i've done exceptionally well in each class. English has been my best subject for years. This class was the worst i've taken. She is overly harsh and drops you down for almost everything. I've never had a grade so low as well. I should've listened to my friends and taken a different professor. This lady is not real.

I have never heard a positive word about this teacher! She waited until last minute, the week after last day to drop her class, to grade major assignments. She is an awfully hard graders and gives ZERO feedback. As an A student I have never tried so hard to pass a basic English class. DO NOT take this teacher.

By far the worst professor I've taken at CBC. Her class was very difficult & she also would assign so many directions for a simple assignment. For an essay, I went to every resource at CBC (Academic success center& library to name a few) and they both didn't understand the prompt or how to help since the directions would overload you.DONT TAKE HER.

Assigned assignments that had absolutely nothing to do with research or English, what part of taking pictures and adding a sentence as a caption and posting one multiple times a week connects to research.

Missing even one tiny, minuscule, detail of an assignment you will get a 0. There was no wiggle room when doing work. There was hardly any directions that made sense. Overall a very stressful experience.

Do NOT take this professor. The easiest way to put it is that she was completely awful. Almost everyone in my class either failed or passed with a C or lower. She gives 0 feedback which makes it difficult to understand what she wants. One of the worst professors I have taken. Don't know how she isn't fired tbh.

Her Canvas page is like a corn maze. So extremely hard to understand anything leading me to turn in my work late, which you can't do in her class if you want to pass. There's so much information yet none. Everything is graded so extremely harshly, and I mean HARSH.

Do not take her. You will need to take multiple photos throughout your quarter every single week, this is an english class. I have not written one essay yet but I've made presentations that should be kept in high school. Extremely complicated instructions. I am not one to ever drop a class but this teacher is bringing me to my limits. No learning.

IF I COULD GIVE THIS PROFESSOR A 0, I WOULD. Her instructions are very difficult to read and understand. She will have multiple different instructions within each other (multiple tabs open). She is a horrible grader and terrible at feedback and responding. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!

Never will I ever take a class without reading the reviews. We do 10% of English-related things. Most of it is pictures. It is tough to get a 100 on an assignment. You do NOT want to take this class. If no other proffersers are available wait till next semester. First time failing a class at CBC, not one to blame it on the proffeser but...

I found this course challenging to navigate due to a lack of structure and communication. The professor did not provide lectures or direct instructions, which made it difficult to engage with the material or understand expectations. Assignments were scattered and inconsistent, with no feedback provided. Making it hard to track progress.

I've never had such a horrible teacher before. If I could give this lady a 0 I would. I would learn more English from a math teacher. I've learned more rhetoric from an 80 year old hillbilly with no teeth. I have not done a single essay yet, all it is are useless photo assignments that barely teach. Waste your money and time on something else.

Very confusing lecture and class format. Such a soulless class almost as if it was automated and ran by a robot. The grading was absolutely horrible and you would get heavily docked for the tiniest things. Had very little to do with English and was basically a photography class with minimal writing. She needs to be reviewed by cbc.

Guys, please don't take this prof. You waste money for a textbook you can find for free, her grading is insanely foolish, and her instructions are always non-specific and very nitpicky. DO NOT, I swear, DO NOT take her, y'all. I regret taking her class and giving her the benefit of the doubt.

This class was ridiculously difficult to navigate, and the instructions given were made overly cumbersome. This professor does not care about students' success, but thrives on making simple tasks overly complicated. I have no idea how she continues to be employed, particularly given the lack of English taught; I didn't sign up for photography.

When taking this class, it was very fun and entertaining. I felt I did really well in the class but the professor is a very hard grader, she does give feedback but it's very light. The teacher doesn't tell you how to fix your issues it's just one word replies. I honestly don't understand how anyone could get above a C in this class.

There are alot of books and things you have to read for this course. She is an insane grader and i have received 0 points for some assignments i very clearly fully did, FYI i am a good student. for some odd reason if you follow the rubric she has given you, you will still get a bad grade. and there arnt very many assignments to up your grade either

She is not a good instructor. I could copy my classmates and still get a lower score than them. You can follow the rubric and she will still find ways to give you a horrible score.

This was the worst teacher I have EVER had. I dreaded her class so much that I prayed I wouldn't wake up. I wouldn't wish this class on my worst enemy. She grades extremely late. If you need this class, switch majors.

Run before its to late!!! I have never in my 19 years of living have had to deal with such a crude lady. If you care about your sanity look for another professor. I wouldn't even recommend this class to my worst enemy. She truly is a piece of work....

One of the worst professors I've had, She gave me a 3.5/100 on an essay that I did a month ago and gives unnecessary amount of reading that doesn't even help. Waste of a class, she grades all her assignments so late and doesn't give feedback only numbers with I don't even know what they mean. Don't take her class!!!!!!!!

Genuinely the worst experience I've ever had "learning" English. Throughout the entire course expect assignments that have extremely long rubrics that somehow manage to be 1000+ words and still leave you with a vague semblance of guidance for the assignment, not that it matters though because you'll still be deducted points for tiny errors.
