Sociology is such a... fun class... just take it and get an A.
easy at the same time i learned alot of stuff in her class.teachers should be like her more.
She seems to know a lot about her subject, I just had a hard time getting that info. You use the book often. For the last test we played jeapordy. If you are nice, she will work with you on deadlines. If you will miss class, call or she will drop you.
class is really boring. tests are easy. she's really picky about absenses and drops you at 3.
She is not too hard but fills your head with her own propaganda. She is not very smart, she even questioned if there was any evidence to support EVOLUTION. Anal on missing class, tardies, etc..

great, great teacher. she is extremely knowledgeable. i found her test somewhat hard. don't miss class and don't be late. pay attention to her instructions and you'll be ok.
I really didn't like this class. It was extremely boring and she was very unclear. She basically wants to fill your head with her ideas and if you disagree prepare to be wrong. I got an A in the class but I did not enjoy it. Most of the time I ditched.

I liked her class. I received an A, and I did'nt have to take the final which was cool. If you go to class and review your notes that you take from a power point you will pass this class. She is nice she may seem harsh at first, but she is not!!!

This class was very easy but I hated it. She talks too much about blacks living in a white world and how they have to work harder for everything. Dont come to class late, she will give you witchy looks and stare at you like you killed someone. If you want a class to raise your grade, go for it!
Pretty easy A class, tests based on textbook, mostly vocabs. Presentation at the end - very flexible. She is just not very opened on your opinions.
she is unorganized, never explains assignments, explains what is expected in our research paper AFTER she grades it, lecture gets boring, sarcastic, never memorize students' names.
she is arrogant and thinks her stupid opinion is ALWAYS right. she thinks that just because she has a PhD. that she is god! she even argued with me that there was NO evidence supporting evolution. Besides that, if you want an easy A with easy tests and lots of extra credit, this clas is for you.
She is sooo full of herself, and such an IDIOT!! She makes ridiculous comments in class about how evolution is a lie and how tragic it is that affirmative action was taken away. THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. But if you don't mind being intellectually insulted everyday, the class is an easy A.

She is the weirdest person ever. I once came late to her class when they were watching a movie and she would not let me enter the class and made me stand in the doorway until the movie was over (at the end of class). Easy grader

She is a doctor and she wants to be respected like one, can you blame her folks school is a lot of work. She is very fair drops 2 of 4 tests and give a fun project to do at the end. She is very animated when she speaks and makes her lectures worth listening too! She is also very hip and has fun!
She is definitely full of herself, and extremely biased, and extremely unorganized, but it's the easiest class you'll probably ever take in college. Definitely worth taking if you don't care about learning the subject and want to boost your GPA.But be prepared to walk behind her at all times.

Man this class was so easy. I didn't even have to take the final to get the A. All these people seem to complain on Cannon. Sort of funny on how they get their panties in a bunch. If you don't get at least a B in this class, man you must be dumb.

This is the worst teacher I have ever had. She is so mean and rude. I wish I could throw a tomato at her because she is so bad. She has mega-attitude problem and has no friends and low self esteem. She should eat a poisonous burrito and die. WORST TEACHER EVER! (and yes i did pass her class)

This teacher can come off as mean and unapproachable, but if you read the work and talk to her after class she shows a lot of caring for the students. The class is easy to pass. I would recommend for the ease of grade, but if you're easily intimidated, shy timidly away from this one.

One of the worst teachers I've had at El Co! She is cold, rude, picky, demanding, and mean just to say the least. No study guides what so ever. The only good thing about her class is if you get an A on all the exams, you don't have to take the final. Tests are hard, a lot of questions from the book so you have to read.

A wonderful scholar. Must be of strong ming and academia, but class laid out in a easy A format. Must be willing to follow her rules. An overall pleasure.
So its like shes really smart but shes very rude; however, shes very easy, 4 exams and you get to drop 2 of them and then 4 one page essays and shes very generous on the grades there then last is multi media research presentation and shes very generous on the grades on that also so got an easy A. just watch out for the rudeness thou.
I'm suprised by all of the bad ratings. She is a little annoyed by tardiness, but what teacher isn't. She'll answer your questions and she is very helpful, smart, and her class is very easy. Wow I'm suprised of the bad reviews myself. E.O Cannon is awesome. A great teacher. She is approachable, her tests are easy, and she tells you exactly what she wants you to do and you'll get an A! The only problem with this class is that it's boring, so if you fall asleep during lecture you won't miss much. Just make sure you read the book.
Professor Cannon is a great teacher and knowledgeable. She is strict but you'll get over it. Yes, you do have to study and read the text book but it is easy reading. I passed all of her classes with an "A". Extra credit is available.
i was very resistant to learning sociology and prioritized it the lowest to all my other classes. this got me a c on all the tests and this is with very little studying. once i started studying, my tests scored improved dramtically! the lady is full of wisdom and is very helpful. intolerant of foolishness, expects adult behavior.

She is a great professor. Her Tests are easy as long as you read the book and do the study guide. You have to turn in 4 essays, but she doesn't grade them in a strict way, and her 3 minute multi-media presentation at the end of the semester is not as hard as she makes it sound. If you do well on all her tests, you do not have to take the final.

I didn't care for her class at all. I dreaded that time of the day. She dislikes it when people are late -so be on time. It's relatively easy, I rarely read the book and managed to score decent on exams. Take good notes, review before exam and you should be fine. She can be quite rude at times though. Would NOT recommend her.

easy class to get an A, just know everything on her study guide and make an effort. there were a lot of group assignments, so be prepped for that. downside: she was highly disorganized and rude to her students. she can make someone feel humiliated in front of the class very easily. kiss up or face her tantrums.
Dr. Cannon is the worst professor I've ever had. She seems to take pleasure in humiliating her students. Her directions are unclear and vague. Asking to her explain (after being put down) will only leave you more confused. Her lectures seem to be simply a PowerPoint slide show directly from the book. Her class was a waste of time.
Cannon is a woman of few, yet large, words. She teaches her material with a passion and expects excellence. The material isn't hard to learn, the tests are a breeze if you know what's going on in the chapter, the only pain is the group projects.

Cannon is the rudest person I have ever met. As far as the comment below about the MANY people that dislike her being underachievers, that is completely untrue. I had an A in the class throughout the semester until she disapproved of my final presentation and failed our group...then I received a B. She is hurtful and her actions are unwarranted.

Requirements besides the text books this is your own requirement which was mine is lots of Red Bull. Had this teacher for 1hr 25min this class seemed internal for me. I took her class in Winter 2010, and received an A. Granted, I felt uneasy & felt like i was wasting her time if I asked her a question, but her class is really easy as long as you read the textbook and pay attention to the concepts that she goes over in class. Dr. Cannon, well i agree with the rest of the reviews lol. She's a fiesty little one, at first i was like ehhh. she gets confused and doesn't stay focused and is easy distracted. Hopefully you have a good group for the papers, because that's an important part of the class. but ehh just sit and do the work right and don't say nothing to her lol.
TEST & LECTURE comes straight out of the book NO TRICKS. BEAWARE she assigns group, lets just hope you get into a good group!!! She can appear very mean, but she is just trying to help you in the end

Don't believe 85% of what has been written about Dr. Cannon. For starters, this is college not Middle School. Why there are some negative comments about Dr. Cannon is that she holds you accountable for the things you should know from reading the syllabus, textbook and required reading. GREAT .... TEACHER. Please don't believe the reviews about Dr. Cannon. She is really a good teacher and she does whatever she can to help you to do your best. Her lectures and exams are straight from the book. All of the papers are group papers and they are super easy.
I took this professor for the social work course, she IS easily distracted; sometimes she wasted the entire class rambling. She made two students in my class cry. She's rude but is unaware of it, she thinks she's straight-forward. I had a love/hate relationship with this class. I wouldn't recommend taking her if you want an easy A.
She does not practice what she teaches. She assumes a lot about students and why they do or don't do things. I found her a little ****. You can get an A in her class if you: show up, do what she says and AVOID ever talking to her or asking her questions for she knows nothing beyond what her PowerPoint says. She's rude and stuck up So you can drop the class, ignore her, or avoid the class altogether. If you can help talking a better professor, then you should. Choose wisely.

The comments on here are funny. It's true she is feisty, but don't take what she says too seriously. She can embarrass you but you have to develop a tough skin in life, so no big deal. I got a B in her class just by paying attention and taking notes, studied 20 minutes before class and that was enough to pass the exam. She's very clear when she teaches, you interact a lot within the class. 4 multiple choice exams and 4 easy 1pg papers (just follow her instructions closely). I've recommended her to all my friends.
Professor Cannon has to be one of the best/easiest teachers at ecc. class is super easy! just show up everyday, take notes, do 4 (1 pg) summary and 4 (1pg) group summary and 4 multiple test. she gives out extra credit on the 1st day of class. i didnt have to take the final exam because i should up everyday and did good on my paragraph. Dr. Canon places emphasis on education and excellence. About her: Energetic, clear lecturer, strict in a sense of you doing your best work, knowledgeable, and approachable for advice. About the class: engaging, plenty of group work, essays, exams, multi media project, and extra credit opportunities. Overall good class environment.

Easy tests. Lectures and tests straight from book. Four group "research" papers for which she has strict grading criteria but gives vague instructions. She wants nothing but a compilation of "objective" citations but provides a textbook written in first-person with an obviously liberal agenda as the only source. Unclear, condescending, unhelpful.
Awesome professor and class is just way too easy! I barely ever showed up and still got an A! Just do the group essays and read the definitions before the exams. That was my "bad" plan for the class and passed with flying colors.

Scatterbrained, to say the least. She wants nothing but quotes but doesn't even understand the basics of MLA or APA. Research papers make little sense. Pretty easy A, but very poor preparation transferring to a university. Condescending and unclear. Textbook is crap with some inaccurate definitions.
WOW. This professor is far from dull, she gives her students some of the most hard core teaching I ever seen. Great person but very strict teacher. work is comprehensible if you know the meaning of "Do whatever to get an A", you would not have any issue. just be direct and short you will survive in her class

EASY A. She ONLY wants quotes from the text in papers, no opinion, so you don't have to struggle to write papers for her. Tests are multiple choice and purely on vocab from the chapters. She keeps your attn pretty well
Very funny but isn't scared to put you on the spot. If you put your head down at all, be prepared to be signaled out and she'll stand over you and give her whole ''Functionalist'' speech on you. 4 group papers, easy. Test on scantron, just study. Media research project at the end, easy just try. Made me laugh
She's very sassy but it's a very easy A. Essays need to be quotes straight from the book and the tests are purely vocab and lecture material. She's not helpful so keep your classmate's phone numbers but VERY EASY A!

If I could reset time and NOT take this woman, I would. The work is easy but she just cannot answer a question without asking one right back. I would not recommend her if you are actually there to learn. Be prepared to hear a whole lot of nonsense; she simply cannot be wrong.
Semi insane, very forgetful. Easy to distract. Obsesses over fonts and little things like that. seems like she could care less about your work. Papers are quotes strung together, then combined with 4 other "papers" every two weeks. Final project is a video full of videos you take off the internet put together. Its alright if you need the units.
She is most definitely not the nicest teacher you will ever meet. Attendance is somewhat mandatory, if you want a good grade. Take the class with a friend. Her stuff is easy, but you have to pay attention to the details. Don't miss a single assignment and study hard for her exams.
Cannon's class is easy if you figure out her tests. The homework is super easy and the Multi Media project at the end is easy if your in a group. If you earn 360 points its an A. Take this class, its fun and you learn alot!
She's not really that bad of a teacher. I thought she was funny and she can be really nice. Her tests are super easy and her essays are nothing but quotes. The Multi-Media Research Project is also very easy especially if you choose to work with your group. She can be a little vague at times and she gets angry if you say something really stupid.
Cannon is an easy teacher. Once you get past the first initial shock of her rudeness, you'll be fine. Study vocab for her tests, and follow guidelines for papers. Easy. Oh, and don't ask questions unless you want to be painfully embarrassed.
Professor Cannon will NEVER give you a solid yes or no answer. She will ramble on, it won't make sense, and you will be upset at her. Very difficult professor
Yes her assignments are terribly easy being as your "research" papers are quotes straight from the textbook, but she is impossible to talk to. Ask her a question (even in private) and she makes you feel stupid and useless. Attendance is required even though everything she teaches is online. So pointless going to class...
She is SUCH a smart-alik and I really don't know how else to describe her other than that. You ask a question, she'll look at you like you're slow and then SORT OF answer it, or answer in the snarkiest way possible. Class is pointless because she just puts the book in a PPT, so just read the book. Any papers are ONLY quotes, no opinions involved.
Honestly the only reason she's hard is because she's one of those teachers who isn't going to baby you. It's easy to get an A follow her directions on the essay's and paragraphs and make sure you read the chapters and the study them on your own and you'll be fine. Remember your in college and your education is in your hands not the teachers.
you get extra credit with perfect attendance and that helped a lot. it basically gives you one grade higher. she's pretty much not any help when you ask her a question, she likes to be right so if your question or comment doesn't match with what she likes she won't answer you or give you a sarcastic answer
RUDE,donst mind putting students on the spot.Very specific when it comes to assignments.But gives extra credit.do ALL the assignments even if u get a low grade and have perfect attendance and you wont have to take a final.you get extra points for perfect attendance.I passed with an A and didn't have to take a final.and I had failed sociology before
Dr. Cannon can be sarcastic most of the time. Dr. Cannon loves to speak about how the African Americans had to work hard for their equal rights and mostly speaks of the...true you need to attend her class for extra points, extra credit is great idea to help with the grade and the paragraphs basically are quotes from the book. Keep up w/ her for A!
All I can say is WOW. This teacher is SO RUDE I cannot even fathom how anyone would want to learn sociology from her. She scares the sh*t out of people and glares right into your soul. One little mistake and she will single you out and yell at you. Its only the 2nd day of class and I already can't stand her.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Extremely rude, has no passion for what she is teaching. She is there for the paycheck and it is obvious. Ive never had such a TERRIBLE teacher. She will ridicule her students and make you feel like a piece of dirt. AVOID!
She is very mean and you can tell that she doesn't care about her students at all. She creates her own guidelines about everything and expects the class to know them without telling us. Asked an opinionated question for research paper. Embarrassed me in front of the whole class for paraphrasing even though it's ok in most research papers.
Professor Cannon is a tough cookie. Knows her stuff and knows what to expect. Yes she comes across rude but as long as you keep your distance and GO TO HER CLASS EVERYDAY (EXTRA CREDIT POINTS) then your looking at an A in the class. Test are mainly all vocab related. Overall, rude and all she is a good professor. TAKE HER for an easy A.
She knows so much about Sociology and its clear that she enjoys the subject, but she is VERY rude (u get used to it though). She will mock u, make fun of u, and point u out in front of the whole class if u do something incorrectly. Despite her character, she makes her lectures so intriguing & interesting. Definitely an easy A if u do what she asks!
One of the worst experiences I ever had in meeting not only a professor but just an all around person. She claims that her office hours she'll help you any way she can, yet she can't help to attempt in belittling you. Gives VERY little instruction and if you ask a question, she will refer you to the syllabus which lacks in detail. AVOID AT ALL COST
A good fourth or third of the class dropped because of her poor attitude. She jumps to conclusions without understanding your question and sometimes humiliates students in front of the class for little reasons. Does not give much time for note-taking. Book is needed to reinforce lecture.
She is human too, you just have to know how to deal with her strong personality. Other than that if you do all your work she is not hard. Just don't take what she says personal. Don't share personal stories. Don't argue, just agree, move on and do your work.
Cannon is rude. She has a sassy attitude that comes off belittling. She doesn't seem to understand questions and makes it an ordeal to come up with an answer. I say, take another soc class for your prerequisite. If you have to take her, eh lol but either way sociology in general, is easy
Speeds through Power Point and hardly stops for questions. Gets side tracked way to easily with topics not even close to Sociology. Terrible memory. Does not go into depth about any topic. Cannot explain half of what she wants to tell the class. If you want to become a Sociologist DO NOT take her.
Great professor but really condescending. If you ask a question she makes you feel bad by pointing out how wrong you asked the question. She takes more time singling you out than she does answering your question. READ THE SYLLABUS! Read chapters she assigns, avoid asking questions if you can , and you'll do well in the class.

one of the most condescending people I have ever met. Ask a question and get scrutinized for it and you will be wrong every time. But her class is also the easiest I've ever taken. Her papers are a joke and exams are all key terms and final project is a powerpoint. Take for an easy "A" and boost your GPA.
Keep your head down, do the homework, do the final project, read the syllabus and if you have a question, DONT BOTHER ASKING.
Professor Cannon is what she likes to be called. Took her during Fall semester her attitude is bad, bad, bad. On another note she's is very easy. I read the reviews and thought I'd stay out of her way, but somehow she manages to pick with individuals no -matter -what. If you can do not take her because she will find away to start conflict.

Very good teacher, but she's very snappy. Not the woman to play with! lol Other than that great lectures, very clear.
Worst teacher I have EVER taken. Definitely don't recommend her. Very unclear, skips a lot of slides and doesn't go over them(yet expects you to know it). Puts you on blast in front of everyone and gives you attitude. Don't ask questions because she won't answer it,she'll just make you feel stupid in front of everyone. DO NOT TAKE HER !
