You learn an amazing amount from her! She knows her subject!
very easy class!! easy to get B or higher, make sure you review the note before each test.
She's really cool, and eager to help. She writes her notes down on the board everytime so it's easy to copy them down. Just review them for the tests and you're all set.
Very helpful, makes sure material is clear for all students, homework important, many assignments due each week, exams are easy if you study the class notes and vocabulary; Overall an excellent instructor
She is easy to understand, and tries to explain as far as her knowledge and experience let her.Her grading system is good. She outlines every chapter and is very flexible regarding homework and assignments.I truly recommend her, you'll get easy an 'A.'
Her class is very straight forward. Her notes are very clear. She prepares you for the exams.
I feel that this professor needs to be replaced with a different individual knows that he/ she knows about the law and that Professor E.J. Fong should be removed from Pasadena City College.
One of these teachers that you either love or hate. Can get easily annoyed over dumb questions. Lots of notes to copy down off board, but prepare you better than anything for the tests & projects.
i dont know what the other comments were saying but shes an excellent teacher.. they must be dumb as a rock if they think shes a bad teacher..she is very easy to understand and tries to help u as much as she can
I think that this professor does'nt have any people skills what so every and more importantly that she thinks that she is miss good to shoes which she is at that.
Ms. Fong is a pretty good professor. her class is very clear and straight foward. as long as you pay attention in class and take good notes, it'll be not hard to get an A. in a word, she is good!
She is a great professor, as long as you show up the class everyday and finish all the assignments, you'll have no problem passing the class with an A.
Some of these other negative comments must have been written by rocks or by idiots posing as rocks. She is an EXCELLENT professor. She manages to explain complicated theories in a way that you can EASILY UNDERSTAND (unless you're as dumb as a rock--then you won't understand). She's very funny and ke
Prepares you very well. if you pay attention and take detailed notes, you will get a good grade. however, she needs to take a chill pill; she's so up-tight it's ridiculous.
Very straight laced and forward (by the book). Take detailed notes and you'll pass with flying colors. Class was very informative and she is engaging in her tales. Also, she writes wonderful recommendations. Thank you Dr. Fong!!
SHOW UP TO CLASS AND TAKE NOTES AND YOU WILL DO FINE. SHE IS A FAIR TEACHER AND THE CLASS IS INTERESTING SOMETIMES.
A great professor, Highly recomend her if you're dedicated to learn. A+
She is a good teacher but she is very hard and know all lyour vocab she is big on that
An easy pro. Study Vocab.
She is very helpful, very clear, study the vocabs and make sure you take notes. I got an A which I thought it was easy.
She is a very knowledgeable professor. Her class is a bit hard because of the material covered, but she explains it quite thoroughly. You definitely learn a lot in her class! Personality-wise, she is fairly nice, definitely approachable, and quite helpful.
She is nice and accepts late Homework, she doesn't take attendance but her quizzes are based on the notes. so if u can read the book and understand it than cool. at least make sure you are there for the review before a quiz!!!
Her test is so hard. I could not finish 15 mult-choices, 15 identifications,15 matches, 3 short essay questions, and 4 or 5 case problems that each with about 3 questions within the one hour and ten minutes.
great teacher, really nice and helpful, curve a lot, some projects and extra credits, midterm and final are really important coz they r 70% of total grade.really hav to study the vocab
Best teacher I ever had...learned a huge amount in what can be a pretty dull subject. Really wants you to learn. Nice person too.
I took her class a few years ago. Her class is very hard, so take notes. She is very kind though and wants you to learn. She will take time out to help you. She is so intelligent, she should be at a Law University.
She is one of the hardest working teachers in PCC.She really wants you to learn. She is a good teacher not just because she's a lawyer but also she reviews the past exams so you will not make the same mistakes later on.I agree that she should teach on a law university because she is a very enthusiastic teacher and knowledgeable in her profession.
Good.
This teacher is hard!!! lots of work! but overall you learn a lot from her! pay attention and you'll get to know the law!!! Don't take to many class while taking her! cause she gives lots of homework and reading.
Awesome teacher!!
Professor fong is the best! She makes Businees law fun. She is a University quality type of instructor. She should really be teaching at USC or Cal-Berkley. She's very helpful, smart and do what she can to help you pass.
SHE IS OK FOR THE MOST PART.I DID LEARN A LOT SHE SEEMS LIKE SHE HATES TO TEACH. I REALLY DIDNT LIKE HER TEACHING SHE ISNT VERY HELPFUL SHE CAN BE RUDE AND TEACHING IS NOT HER GAME.U TAKE ALOT OF NOTES THAT HELP DURING THE TEST BUT DONT ASK QUESTIONS CUZ I'VE SEEN HER GET MAD @ ANOTHER STUDENT WHEN SHE DIDNT UNDERSTAND SOMETHING IN THE CLASS..BEWAR
Great teacher. Straight forward. If you pay attention and do homework, easy A. She's not trying to trick you.
she is an excellent teacher, or should i say lawyer..... not too patient when it comes to "the stupid questions". if she is your instructor, you will learn
great teacher, hates stupid questions. very straight forward. is an easy grader. this class is easy and you actually learn
She is great professor. Sure, she might hate stupid questions, but you really wouldn't be asking those questions if you listen to what she is saying. Although she has been teaching at PCC for over 10 years, she still teaches this class for the people that have no knowledge of law. You can really get into it and she makes sure you do good in class!
Clear and knowledgeable. A lot of materials were covered, so a couple of topics might be rushed. She supports the textbook's answer when it's questionable to some students, but is open to different interpretations and arguments on other occasions.
She is the best teacher at PCC! I agree that she should be teaching at a law university. She cares about her students; learning; is straightforward and knowledgeable. I don't see why students are complaining when all the answers to her tests comes directly from her notes. How much more clear can it get? Just read the notes!
Dr.Fong is the most devoted and industrious professor of a blue ribbon caliber. She administers a very fair system where grades are evaluated based on both exams and homework. Her classes are organized and disciplined, lectures are precisely to the point and she's very helpful. No time-wasting. If excelling is your goal, she is highly-recommended.
She is very clear in her teaching. If you study the notes, read the book and listen in class you will get a good grade. Her class is very self explanitory if you pay attention. I loved her teaching method.
She is the best teacher in the whole world i love mrs fong
Great teacher she is the best
Prof. Fong is the real deal and she keeps her credentials updated. Her lectures are straightforward, she goes over the homework, and allows corrections to be handed in. Make sure you buy the book AND study guide bundle. I didn't know anything about law before taking this class and I got an A so I would definitely recommend Prof. Fong.
she's great, very well spoken and easy to get along with. she gives notes that are easy to follow and grasp the concept of her teaching.
Best teacher in the program! Tests are more on the "hard" side, but you will learn! Xlint professor. She's nice and helpful. Can be impatient at times... but she goes the extra mile. Wish more teachers were like her!
i actullay had here for two classes and she is wonderful! i got an A in bothe classes and learned so much. She is very helpful and if you keep up yo will learn so much. TAKE FONG!
She is one of the finest professors I ever had.
She is the best professor at PCC.
This was my first class after leaving school a long time ago. She was extremely clear when lecturing and very helpful. Great class and excellent professor. Keep up the good job Dr Fong.
GOOD TEACHER. WITH A LITTLE BIT OF EFFORT YOU WILL GET AN 'A'. I DID. HIGHLY RECOMMAND
After leaving school for more than 10 years she is very detailed and helpful. Offers extra credit you can easily get an A if you put your time and effort
fantastic teacher. if you need bus 12A she is the onne to take with. curve the scores limited extra extra.but great teacher
Amazing professor, extremely fast paced and very helpful. She has 2 quizzes, projects, a midterm and a final. Power points available online though going to lecture, you'll learn everything. She's frankly the best professor I've ever had. Highly recommend her.
Really nice teacher. Took it on Spring 2012 and got an A+. Tests, midterm and final are almost same as study guide.Take her !!!!!
You will learn from this class with Fong and new knowledge is how you should leave any class with. First half of class focuses on book. but second half of class focuses on lecture. This is where some people dropped off. If you study, you will get an A, and in a subject like law, why wouldn't you study? Recommend if you want to learn.
Good professor but a little too much reliance on powerpoints. Would have liked more groupwork in class. Write very detailed answers on your exams and homework and you'll be set. Can be easily annoyed sometimes, but she's still a nice teacher.
This class is usually found in Spring with only 1 section available. She is a really nice, thorough professor. She explains the material several times so students can understand it. I will only negatively comment on the fact that she wants you to basically memorize the book and power point notes, word for word. Had 2 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final.
I feel that this professor doesn't understand people in general and also her doesn't understand disable student.
This woman is so rude and horrible at communication. I asked this woman for help, but I got yelled at in front of the class... I will NEVER take this class with this instructor again. I will stop here and let those who read this comment draw their own conclusions.
very easy professor if you read the textbook and pay attention to lectures in class. her quizzes are easy, just focus on everything she emphasizes and goes over twice. quizzes focus on key terms, so review your terms. she depends a lil too much on pwerpoint and can be kind of snappy when you ask questions, but that was no prob with me
Very easy class. She curved tests, midterms, etc. which I appreciated a lot. Lectures are fun and interesting. Make flashcards using the information from both text book & notes, then study them would help a lot. You don't really need the Study Guide Workbook.
This class is not hard. Read the book, listen to her lectures (they're very interesting). Make flashcards and study the terms, also know how to use them. I was able to memorize the materials by listening to her lectures and reading the case problems. She's very nice. She cares about her students. She also curves your exam grades <3
business law is a easy subject imo lectures are ppts reasonable about of assignments tests are hard no multi choice she developed own test with different styles of question you have to learn not just memorize of you will not pass test i promise lots of writing but not long hw is mindtap code comes with ebook
offers extra credit, alot if she feels students need it. curves tests because they're hard.
You will learn plenty in her class. The tests are really tough and she grades tough too. She is very impatient, so don't ask any questions in class. You really need to study hard and totally understand the subject to get an A. Great tip: record her lectures and listen to them at least once if you want to get an A.
Doctor fong is like superwoman. She is very efficient. I got an A in business law and a B in probate. Just print out her power points. 2 quizzes, a midterm and final. She gives a couple extra credit assignments. Bus 12a there is a lot of hw on mindtap
Fong is a great professor. I learned a lot about law and contract in general. She is really professional, enthusiastic about her subject, and gives extra credit. She curves grades and if you put an effort, she will give you a lot of support on the grade to make you pass the class. It was interesting to learn about laws and cases. Take her!!!
Read the book! Complete the assignments on Mindtap and Canvas. She grades with a curve. 4 quizzes and a few extra credits and a couple of in class assignments. All her lectures are what is covered in the quizzes. She helps you with the Mindtap as well. She lets you know everything that is coming up. If you study and do the work, you can get an A.
I found that this Professor doesn't understand disabled people in general because took this several times. I ask that if you take this professor she is uncouth, superficial individual towards student the around.
She's honestly a easy class if you take good notes and read the chapters, all her tests and quizes are graded on a curve so studying for them is an easy A which should get you a good grade in the class. Online hw but it's hard not to get full points it's pretty easy. I did learn alot about law and contracts which is good to know in the real world.
Great teacher. Lectures are average, but the material is all provided for you. There's a decent amount if homework through the online system, but not difficult. You should get an A if you study and do the homework. If you have questions she's more then willing to answer them during her office hours.
She is very knowledgeable and passionate in her teaching. She incorporates a wide variety of assignments in her curriculum. Her tests are curved based on the "average top score," not necessarily the actual top score. Her curves usually take you at least one letter grade up on exams. Very vocab centric class. Know the vocab and you'll pass
All her exams is written and there is no multiple choice. She does not give extra credit for her business law 12B students. Read the textbook and memorize the key terms. Exams are consist of vocabulary, comparison, matching, short essay answer, etc. Tons of homework is given for her class. Her lectures are mainly from the powerpoint.
Incredibly nice professor! Her class isnt difficult if you have a genuine interest in the subject and ACTUALLY show up for class and pay attention. Her lectures are detailed and she provides powerpoints for every topic covered in class. I wish she taught more classes in the paralegal program!!
Her lectures are very organized and she uses real life examples to further clarify the topics. She provides extra credit and curves the tests. She gives a bunch of hw, but she also goes over some of the answers in class. The test are based on the vocabs she gives you. The book is not really necessary to buy, but the MindTap is.
Easy class. Havent passed a test but Ive done all the homework and still have a B+ overall in the class. Lectures from the moment class starts till about 3-5mins before the set end time. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
professor Fong is passionate about her course, and is always willing to help out if needed. however, there is a lot of work involved thanks to mind tap, and you cannot get fooled on canvas; the grade there is nowhere close to your actual grade. it only really accounts for the hw. either ways, if you don't like work don't take this class.
Loved Professor Fong, she was very informative and helpful. Took her Intro to Paralegal and really enjoyed her class. You don't need the textbook her powerpoints have all the information, including what you will be tested on for the quizzes, midterm, and final. The quizzes prepare you for the midterm and final. No reason to fail.
Took her Will and Trust class, I have to say I wish she taught other courses. Clear lectures and test are all based on powerpoints. The grade on Canvas is not your actual grade because she curves your grade (the top score would be the median grade) which helps those who get low scores. Pay attention and you will pass the class with an A.
Test heavy
Pro. Fong is a very knowledgable and kind person. Her lecture is very well organized. 2 Quizzes, Midterm, Finale & Court Observation Paper (easy) . Weekly MindTap exercises to related chapters covered in lecture. Very easy. Her PowerPoints are great help. If you have difficulties, she is more than willing to help. 2-3 extra credit assignments.
Too much work. Tests are super heavy. But there's a few extra credits that may or may not boost your grade. As long as you do a good job on her assignments then you may get at least a C in the class. She's nice and willing to help you if you are having problems.
avoid at all costs. not very clear with explaining things. will hardly give you an A for your work.
I took 3 of my paralegal classes with professor Fong and she is hands down the best. I passed my intro to paralegal class with a C, my Paralegal 135 with a C, and lastly, Business Law with a C. Professor Fong is the best, she knows the subjects very well, is understandable towards her students, gives extra credit, and is easy with assignments.
Book is mandatory with code to access mind tap for additional grading. If you plan on not showing up you wont pass, everything is crucial and shes not much of a helper she just refers you to a study group you can look into. Tests are graded based on heavy vocabulary words and class work examples. Legal writing is necessary in this class
Please avoid taking Professor Fong for BUS 12A. Her lessons are just her reading the power points and she assigns too much homework that does not count for much at the end of the course. I had a previous review, but it was taken down. Try to avoid to take during COVID19!
Professor Fong does lecture from PowerPoints which is a summary of the reading for the Chapters you are responsible to read on your own. Take good notes, review vocabulary, and work on MindTap exercises and you'll do great in her class. Professor provides study guides for exams & reviews in class. Willing to work with students. Enjoyed her class.
So heavy class. 2quizzes (20%) ,2 exams (20%), one final (30%), homework 30%. She is nice but really is a tough grader. Her questions are hard to understand. All the lectures just reading the PowerPoint, but the exams ask you crazy things like you are master on it already. You better choose another proffesor if you don't want to be stress.
Professor Fong is knowledgeable about the law. She breaks down complex legal terms/ideas so students can understand. It is helpful if you have taken Government in High School or are interested in Law. Homework/Quizzes and Tests are all online. She will take the highest grade on tests/exams and make a new grading chart based on the highest score.
You need to read the textbook and you need to view her video lectures. Those are two materials needed to pass the quizzes and exams. There were a few projects, and a lot of them were group projects. Beware of that since a lot of your classmates may drop randomly. You definitely need to use your logic in this class.
BEST PROFESSOR Tests are all curved heavily (abt 30% get an A every test ) Test Heavy on the final grade pay attention to all her lectures, and you'll have most of the lessons down she teaches with case examples (basically stories), making it easier the remember concepts Lectures recorded on Zoom to watch afterwards(low quality mic)
Very, very tough grader as she docks a lot of points. The final counts as 30% so you need to do really well. The questions on the test can be very confusing and ambiguous, which make it even harder. Even if you do well during the whole semester, you might not get an A in the class. Attendance was mandatory, and some extra credit was offered.
Great Professor. Her assignments are not that hard. Be careful of the quizzes/exams, the questions has specific wording, that you need to pay close attention to. She provides extra credit and also curves the exams, quizzes, and classwork. The curve works in your favor.
She was really nice and understanding. There was kind of a lot of reading and homework but it was really easy. The quizzes and tests weren't too hard either. There's group work and extra credit.
Elaine Fong's class is a mixed bag. Her lessons can be dry, but she's understanding and curves tests. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for studying concepts. Overall, the class is manageable if you stay on top of the work.
Professor Fong is knowledgeable but slow at grading, making it difficult to gauge your standing. Expect substantial MindTap homework and reading. Her outlines are helpful for note-taking. Prerecorded lectures that rehash textbook material. Exams are particularly challenging with deliberately confusing wording, prepare accordingly.
