Very opinionated about which religions are better than others... An odd take considering she's supposed to be a professor taking an objective view to things. She allows comments in class to get out of hand, making students feel awkward. Very condescending

horrible. She did tell us anything and alot of her information seemed like she just made it up.
She is not that hard to pass but you defenitely need to take good notes if you do not know much about the Bible. She doesn't grade hard.
She is not good. She is not your friend. Avoid at all costs...
Great professor. Very nice, very helpful. Cute too.

shes so cute!!!ilove her, shes not hard to pass at all, shes very helpful and sweet and everyone who gave her a bad rating doesnt know what they are talking about... shes an a amazing teacher!
Wonderful teacher.Easy grader. Interesting class.
Although she was an interesting and energetic teacher, she was a bit off topic. She was structured on time and taking role, and I felt she started class early which put people with earlier classes at a disatvantage. Sometimes it was unclear to follow her lecture because she would jump in the notes
Not that good of a Historian. Grades on time attendance and will base final grade on like/dislike. Many biased viewpoints, closed-minded about any other.
I loved her as a professor!! however, it does seem that she played favorites
Her exams are long and very detailed. Class is much harder than it should be for a 200 level course.Lectures are difficult to follow.
Long tests, but very easy. People complain about her lectures, but I hardly when to class and still got an A. You just need to read the book material. She is a very energetic and charming teacher. I love her. I've taken her for two different classes. She's the best at CSUN.
Great class! She's funny, smart and incredibly interesting. She makes you laugh and enjoys your feedback and questions. You will love her - she is one of the friendliest professors at CSUN. She does take role, but her exams are based on her lectures, so it makes sense to show up.
she is a really good teacher, she knows what she is talking about, her test are easy, she tells you what to study, there's no homework, except for a 3-4 page paper on King David, other than that all you have to do is do good on the test and go class
This class is simple if you show up.Her tests are very detailed and include questions about lecture notes and the Bible. She is pretty friendly. No HW. Grading is based on 3 tests (the final was the easiest test I've ever taken, much easier than the first 2 test of the class), a 4 pg. paper on King David (very easy), and attendance (supposedly).
this class is really easy, and pretty interesting. she posts the questions to the test on webteach like a week b4 the test, so they are really easy to pass. pretty easy grader on the David Paper, so dont worry about that. just dont show up late to class :-/ and show up to class, it really helps
Funny and smart. Tests are easy and she's very understanding person.
AMAZING aced the class stufy the guide for the test and memorize it all and I got A's on everything, will give you extra credit if you need it thats not hard at all, just read the bible every class and you'll do fine!
Interesting class. She lectures well but is not that easy. Make sure to take notes and study. She likes people who think like her.
Elaine talks fast and it's tough to keep up. Make sure to do your reading as it'll make studying for the tests easier. 1st test is mult. choice (easy). Last 2 tests were more difficult. She gives out about 50 questions 2 weeks before test and subset of them are on the actual test. Offers lots of extra credit too.
Very Interesting professor, but a lot of reading/work to do!!If you study the study guide and memorize them for the tests you should be fine.offers a lot of extra credit! :)she's also very willing to help you out if you have any questions.
She is a brilliant individual and a great person. Flawless. She is kind and helpful and not a strict professor. Leeway is given if you have trouble. The exams are straigtforward and mostly take-home. She is a very nice woman, and it is very difficult not to like her!!!
Professor Goodfriend, was one of the most awkward teachers I have had at this fine institution of greater learning (psyche). But she was very difficult. Tought in tangents, and never really followed the syllabus. I do not recommend her. Some people found her interesting but not I. She goes way to fast and does not even review for her exams.

Easiest class at CSUN. Her interpretation of the Bible is very interesting, and she encourages discussion/debate on passages in the Bible. There is one paper on King David due with the midterm, and she gives study guides out usually a week in advance that are straight from her lectures.
She's great if you don't like this teacher or don't A's her class you don't want to A's it. She gives you all the answers to every test onlie a week before the exam and she explain anything you don't understand. She's very intresting and keeps the class laughing at her weird jokes. I totally recommend her.
She might be one of the easier professors that teaches this subject, but like an individual commented below, I have to agree her teaching methods can be a bit confusing and fast pace. She grades on three things, a mid-term, paper, and final. Her study guides are overwhelming and sometimes too much, but you do need to study to do well in this class.
i went to evry class and she gave me a c..get on her good side..in other words dont disagree with her
She is pretty funny... unintentionally, though. She gives you the questions to the tests. Although she is unorganized with notes, she is good at what at she does and very worth taking.
Superb instructor. Course was on Hebrew Bible. Class was easy going and the tests were not very hard. She gives all the material expected on tests before hand. Take home midterm and finals. Plenty of extra credit that will put you into the next grade level. Super teacher.
Such an amazing teacher!!! I had her for the history of Ancient Isreal. She is wonderfully brillient and actually really funny. She is a little offbeat as is her teaching style, but that is what makes her so enjoyable!! I would absolutly recommend her!
She's a nice teacher and all but COME ON she gives a TON of reading for a 100 level class. Entertaining and funny but definetly not worth the amount of work. Dont disagree with anything she says either - she will always be right. I liked her, I just think her tests were weird (I missed one question and almost got a B) & the study guide was 2 long!

A fantastic professor. She will make you actually want to read the Bible.
Very interesting class! You definitely need to put in a good amount of effort, but if you write the 2 papers, do the readings, and show up, you're set. She's very nice and brings up a lot of interesting information for you to mull over.
Very interesting. Great Lectures.
Professor Goodfriend entertained me to no end. I really liked her! She's a little scattered, but good natured, and she wants her students to get good marks in her classes. She doesn't have it out for you at all. If her students all demand that something is unfair or unjust, she will change it without second thought. The reading was overall easy.
IF YOU WANT TO LEARN ABOUT THE BIBLE IN DEPTH AND ITS CRITERIA'S THIS LADY WILL MAKE THE BIBLE INTERESTING. IF YOU FAIL HER THEN YOU SUPER RETARDED. EASY LIKE COOL AID DOWN YOUR THROAT.
To be honest, I was bored in her class but she is a very nice professor. Easy going and likes to joke around. Study the study guides (she emails them) and you should do ok on the tests. For the papers read the footnotes at the bottom of the Bible and cite other passages.(it looks good.)
SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST IN CSUN. HER CLASS IS EASY. I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE HARD BUT ITS NOT. GIVES THE QUESTIONS TO THE MIDTERM AND EXAM AND GOES OVER SOME IN CLASS. NO HOMEWORK AND HER LECTURES ARE INTERESTING. I REALLY LOVED THIS CLASS. WISH I COULD TAKE IT AGAIN :)
As long as you do the reading and show up you'll be fine. You'll have to write an essay on King David. Make sure you know your grammar skills because she WILL lower your grade just for putting commas or quotations in the wrong spots. She's not very open to being wrong. If you believe in the BIBLE be prepared to be challenged.
OMG SHE GRADES SO HARD. SHE IS PICKY AND LOWERS YOUR GRADE FOR NOT PUTTING COMMA OR PERIOD. HER CLASS IS BORING.
THIS TEACHER GRADES EXTREMELY HARD. I THOUGHT I ATLEAST GOT A B/C, BUT DID'NT. IF YOU WANT AN EASY CLASS DO NOT TAKE THIS ONE, BECAUSE YOU WILL FAIL AND REGRET IT LIKE I DID BECAUSE I PAID ATTENTION TO WHAT OTHERS SAID ON RATE MY PROF.
Great teacher. Probably the best one I had this semester. She literally gives you everything that is gonna be on the test, so I don't really get how people can hate on her for being hard. You have to read a book which is annoying, but the book is pretty easy to read. The other books you "have to" read you don't really have to read. Real cool lady.
She's a very easy professor. Give easy and long reviews prior for her exams. She makes her lectures humorous and interesting. One thing though, she's anal with writing and grammar. If you wanna get a solid, descent grade, know how to write well or she will lower your grade.
She's a great teacher and truly knows her subject well. She makes the Bible fun and interesting and I really enjoyed and learned alot from her class. She has a Mid-term and a final but she gives you study guides, if you study the questions from the study guides you will definatly get an A
Nice teacher, funny, grade is based mainly on homework and final. No midterm or papers
I LOVE Dr. Goodfriend! She is funny, she engages the class in topics, and she is brilliant in her field. She is honestly one of the best professors at CSUN. Any student could learn SO much from her. A lot of writing assignments, but she allowed us to do eight out of nine. She is quirky and very good at relating ancient texts to the modern world.
She's an awesome professor! I took this class before and got a horrible grade with a different prof. so i took it again with her to bring up gpa. She's really interested in the subject and has a great way of lecturing so your not bored! take her!
Inordinate, Herculean amount of reading and writing...4 different Jewish textbooks! Reading assignments literally have you reading every page in 3 of 4 books! 4 quizzes. Prof is extremely knowledgeable about Jewish faith--but course covers way too much detail in way too short of time. Very tough course!
I truly truly hate this class. It is not an easy class and definitly not an easy A. She is so strict about being on time & grammar. Her lectures are boring & she is never clear in her lectures. Honestly pick another professor!
She is the best professor I have ever had. Tries to make the tests as easy as possible.
Great professor. Really knowledgeable. Almost all professors are way to the left politically and it was refreshing to have someone who wasn't. Not that she's on the right, I don't know it wasn't clear, she's just one of the few I've had who doesn't try to impose left-wing ideas on students. Not an *overly* tough grader, but you have to do the work.
There are eight extensive writing assignments that are worth 60% of your final grade. One creative project and a final each are worth 20%. Be ready to dedicate several hours to this class. I spent entire weekends doing the writing assignments and spent several days working on my project and was worth it. Got an A. Awesome teacher too!
Amazing she is truly interested in what she teaches and knows what she is talking about this class is not boring at all and she is very helpful. there is a lot of work but everything you do for homework is basically your exams.
amazing professor! she's full of energy, and she loves getting her students involved. she knows what she is talking about, and if she doesn't have an answer, she will make sure she does before saying anything. she makes class fun and she is extremely passionate when it comes to teaching. highly recommended!
Goodfriend is really chill. You learn a lot about Judaism in her Intro to Judaism class, but just make sure you don't talk too much or act dumb in her class, that will piss her off (as will any prof.). I got an A in this class, she lets you use notes on the mid term and final. Very fair, pretty easy, she's very high maintenance but still good prof
I got a B+, i would have gotten an A if I studied harder for my final though! Great class!! She will let you turn in a major assignment early so she can correct it first before you turn it in for real. She is VERY knowledgeable and VERY helpful!! She will be delighted to answer your questions and she has the cutest New York accent!
Goodfriend, is a chilled professor . lets you use index card on midterm and (2) on final. Attendance is mandatory and the books. overall i would recommend
I really knew nothing about Jewish culture or history. I learned so much from this class. Wonderful professor, easy class. Delight to take, would take another class with her. Clearly explains work, and subject. Took great insight on Jewish culture, love this class!
Dr. Goodfriend has a great class. I learned a lot and this quickly became my favorite class (over any of my Major's) It is hard but only because there is so much reading. Have interest in the subject (not just the women), and read. Take it seriously, (there's lots of confusing laws) and you should do well. Dr. Elaine is funny - good sense of humor.
Professor Goodfriend is amazing! She is funny and makes the class very interesting. A lot of reading, but very doable and she's a fair grader. Take her classes!
Very good professor. Very straightforward. Do the readings, follow the study guides for the exams and you will get an A while you also educate yourself. Very interesting, a little fast but still good. quizzes every week-very easy of you do the readings and take notes.
She's very funny and makes class interesting. I thought bible class was going to be boring but I misjudged it thanks to professor Goodfriend! Will talk but won't bore you & she's willing to correct your work before you submit a final paper. RECOMMEND!
Professor Goodfriend is amazing. She opened my eyes to another world. Because of this class I am minoring in jewish studies. she is easy and great to learn from. TAKE HER!
It was pretty easy. Get the online book to save yourself some time. Attendance is mandatory but I missed a ton of classes and it didn't seem to affect my grade. Do all the homework, do good on tske home quizzes, and bring your bible to class. She is approachable if you need help. Paper is super easy to get an A-B on.
Goodfriend requires the reading of 4 novels with written reports of each book as the majority of work for class. Although there is no homework and the exams are easy, these written reports are judged quite critically. Her criticism of the papers are blasted for the whole class to learn from and be prepared to be an excellent writter to earn an A.
Great lecturer. I recommend this class to anybody who wants to learn and earn a fair grade.
Such an excellent professor. She's funny and keeps the everything interesting. Her quizzes are easy and they are to prepare you for the class after the quiz so you can understand it easier. She's fair with grades. She gives out about 13 quizzes but picks the top 10 and 2 easy essays. I recommend her to everyone.
easy class however she is the strictest grader i have seen ever, makes you write 4 essays and if you make small minor mistakes like putting a comma int the wrong place - your grade drops right away.. not graded on content or ideas at all.. she should teach english 101
Outstanding professor and an excellent class!!! She is funny, interesting, knowledgable, approachable, and engaging. Her classes are fun to attend! There's a fair amount of reading involved but it's all very interesting. She makes her expectations crystal clear. Take her classes. You will learn a lot and have fun while doing it.
The teachers pretty cool, she lets you use 2 index cards on the quizzes and gives you the questions a head of time. One paper, 5 quizzes, and a final that you can use cheat cards on. Easy A. The final is basically a cummalitive of all the other quiz questions so I recommend saving all the study guide answers.
As a person, shes awesome and kind. The class is basically a guaranteed A because she allows 2 note cards, and the final and quizzes don't require much info to pass for an A. One paper, 5 quizzes, and a final. Its one of those classes that gets boring but every now and then she says an offensive joke. Nice lady, easy A. take her.
Amazing professor! She clearly loves the topic and makes you love it too! She really wants you to learn and even provides study guides. Took the class last semester and still remember a lot! Quizzes once a week, two written assignments, midterm, and final. Written assignments are fun ones too! The textbooks are her reader, and a small book.
Amazing professor! She clearly loves the topic and makes you love it too! It is easy to learn, and even though I took it last semester I still remember a lot! Quizzes once a week, two written assignments, midterm and final. Study guides are given. The textbooks are her reader, and a small book.
AMAZING. Prof Goodfriend seems mean in the beginning of the class, but she is everything but that. Great lectures, interest, and knowledge. If your looking for an easy A take another class, but if your looking for a class that you will love this is it. She is one of the best prof iv ever had, and I would take her class 10 more times.
It was a very interesting class. JS 330 has to do with women in Judaism from biblical times to present. No mid term but a final. Three papers to write. She is a great and interesting professor. I would highly recommend this class.
She makes bible studies so interesting and she's funny. class does consist bunch quizzes but if you study and read the bible carefully then you'll be sure to pass. attendance is mandatory. She deducts points for not placing the comma right but its not dreadful. Final exam is easy and she lets you use 2 flashcards for notes front & back.
Easy class. Cool professor. Can use flashcards on test. i used to make several flashcards and just switch them out. Really dope teacher.
Professor Goodfriend is passionate about her course and very knowledgable. Alot of reading but if you're like me, the Bible interests you and you wont mind reading it. I learned alot and was able to share my newly attained knowledge with my family and friends. Class is alot of work we had some writing assignments, weekly quizzes, and final. Take it
Really nice teacher. No class on Jewish holidays so thats nice! lets you use an index card on the test AND gives you the questions prior to the test. just a hard grader when you have writing assignments. overall very interesting course and I recommend this class to everyone!
I've had 3 classes with Goodfriend and she is one of the most intelligent professors I've had at CSUN. She is funny and is really knowledgeable about the subjects she teaches. You will learn alot. dont be fooled over by her happy go lucky attitude she is sharp as a knife and will call out bs when she sees it. She is an amazing mentor. TAKE HER!
Honestly, she's great. I was uninterested in the subject however I did learn quite a bit. Her teaching methods made it easy to retain information. That being said, if you're shy or close minded DON'T TAKE HER! One girl walked out in the middle of a lecture and never came back! And participation is required, she learns names and will call you out!
She is very knowledgeable and passionate for the subject. Reading is essential and must bring assigned books to EVERY class meeting. Sometimes quizzes are take home. The final was take home.
Professor Goodfriend is awesome. She makes what can be boring- actually interesting and fun to learn about. She is funny and has a good sense of humor when is comes to her students. Very open to other views and makes the material easy to understand. Lets you use an index card for tests and questions are straight forward. Would highly recommend her!
I'm not a very religious person and never read the Bible before. Therefore I was very nervous and hesitate about taking this class but honestly taking her. She was super helpful and the funniest person ever! The class is a lot of work but you will learn SO much.I actually left the class more interested in religion than I have ever been in my life
She's an awesome professor. I really loved her personality. The class is easy if you actually study. She grades the essays in a tough manner. There's like 5 tests. Try to pass them all because if you fail one, it really hurts your grade. Her final was easy too. Take her, just expect to read a lot.
She's a great professor but grades essays as if you are in English class. If you answer every question correctly for the essays you still work get an A or a B because you have to have "fancy writing" which was dumb. I liked the class it's just the way which she grades our papers was ridiculous since English is my second language.
Great professor. It's an easy A as long as you read the assignments given in her syllabus. All of her lectures basically review what you read, so you must read in order to understand and be interested in the lecture. Her study guide is basically the exam itself. I recommend her class as long as you can stay focused.
Easy class. Assigns 3 papers & she's really picky on how you write -- worse than an English teacher. But they're simple. Quizzes online - easy. Quizzes in class - STUDY. 1 or 2 oral reports. If you're not Jewish, you may feel left out once in a while, I did. If you don't like participating, don't take class. Easy class, funny & nice professor.
Easy class, as long as you show up and do your work, everything will be fine.
super easy class. 5 quiz. some online and some in class. The online quizzes are open for a few days so no time limit. she provides the questions prior to the quizzes in class plus she lets you use a notecard. one presentation which is super easy and takes like 5 seconds and a final which she gives you the questions a few days prior.
She cares about making sure her students get the education that they pay for. This class was informative. 10 open note quizzes, 3 writing assignments, and 1 final (with a notecard).Only downside is that she grades strictly on essays and sometimes she doesn't seem interested in what you have to say. Easy A, just do the work and don't complain.
Don't quite know how to describe this one. Very informative on the topics in class. Rather eccentric and sometimes seems scattered. Be careful and keep close track on her grading. She makes you but 5 or 6 books. Her reader is an absolute joke. Not well organized and not numbered.
She really enjoys what she's teaching and it shows. Good lectures, writes key points on the board. She'll throw some warning like " this will be on the final, pay attention ". Online quizzes every week and open a couple days. Index card allowed for final. Just pay attention, do your work and you'll be fine. Attendance is mandatory.
Great professor very knowledgable about the subject! Her class can get kinda boring but its very interesting. She makes a lot of jokes and tries to keep the class engaged in the topic. If you can take her!
Dr Goodfriend is one of the best professors at CSUN. This class consists of a few writing assignments and quizzes (she gives you the questions in advance) based on the reading. She is strict on attendance, grammar, and phone usage in class but otherwise she is hilarious and she makes the subject matter highly entertaining. Highly recommend her!
SHE'S TALKS ABOUT RANDOM THINGS THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT AND MAKES YOU READ BORING BOOKS!!!!!!!!!! DON'T TAKE UNLESS YOU WANT TO FALL ASLEEP IN CLASS OH AND HER SARCASM IS THE MOST ANNOYING THING EVER. SHE'S LUCKY SHE'S THE PROFESSOR
This prof. was interesting to say the least. She is very passionate and smart about the class subjects, and had some guests speak for us. She's pretty harsh grading for grammar, FYI. She is a bit strange in the way she dismisses people's ideas. She says "shush" a lot when students try to add to the discussion. I wish she cared a bit more in a way
Her class was super easy and she structures it to where the only reason you dont pass is if you dont show up. She is super strict on attendance (she takes it every class) & phone usage (shes not afraid to call you out on it in front of the class). . Used the textbooks. Most of the grade is online quizzes (18 but she drops 4), one final, one essay
Dr. Goodfriend gives informative and entertaining lectures. I looked forward to going to her class most out of all the ones I took. She is a tough grader on essays, but getting a good grade is not impossible. For the final, we had a study guide which covered all for the exam. No phones and come to class and you're good.
Read the textbook. Do the weekly quizzes, and the 2-3 Essays due during the whole semester and you should be fine. I won't say it's an easy A, but it's not hard to get one. Show up on time, and don't use your phone/electronics; she will call you out and ask you to leave. Also, bring your bible to every class or she'll mark you absent.
The reading is really interesting, including stuff on sexual morality, divorce, and birth control even in the biblical era but also today. She has great stories and jokes. Definitely not a class to miss.
She is a good professor that wants to give you a better insight on the Bible, whether you're religious or not RS 101 can help you understand the bible better and get clear of some GE requirements. Make sure to do all quizzes, Essays, and to bring your bible to every class, and you'll be fine! Stay away from electronics during lecture ppl!
She is a very sarcastic individual, I personally enjoyed her humor but can understand why someone wouldn't. She is an expert at the topics she teaches and will give you everything you need to know clearly. She also brings in a lot of guest speakers with varying backgrounds which is nice. Although on the surface she may seem harsh she truly cares.
Not a difficult course, but if you plan to put in zero effort or not show up, don't bother enrolling. Dr Goodfriend is very interesting, and will give you everything you need to get an A as long as you show up, pay attention, and participate. She knows who cares and who does not, and your grade will reflect. Otherwise, fun and interesting course.
Took this class, I read really only for reading quizzes and assignments, beyond that, just write what she says and study lecture for final and you will do more than fine.
An interesting class and a solid professor who cares about the class and material learned. She encourages questions & class discussion. Assignments are reasonable but start them early. Final is submitted online & questions are given 2 weeks prior and are from old quizzes. Lots of reading & must have perfect grammar for A papers (just use an app).
Be careful when taking this professor!! Professor Goodfriend can be very belittling to her students! Also, with the COVID-19 virus, her class became more difficult which is a slap in the face to her students. Also, dont expect an email back if you do email her. If she does respond, expect a rude tone to the email. Overall: WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!
Although she claimed that she was not trying to influence or degrade our beliefs, the way she said certain things made her personal beliefs about the Bible clear. I don't recommend taking this class if you are already pretty religious because it might mess with that you believe in. However, I learned a lot of new information and she is pretty nice.
. Her class is super easy, considering the whole pandemic she's been really understanding of student's situations. The class includes a textbook and novel, you won't really have to read them bc she goes over in lecture but they're important for the open-book quizzes. There's 6 quizzes, all open-book. Doesn't assign hw aside from that.
She usually cares about Jewish students. If you are not Jewish, don't take her class. She is a tough grader and her lectures are boring. You don't have any clue how she calculates the final grades.
She is YELLING in the class. She makes you read BORRING BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't learn ANYTHING in her class.
Professor Goodfriend makes sure to include all students to understand Jewish Culture. She is humorous, straight to the point and will enrich your knowledge. Pay attention, do the readings on time so that the writing assignments and exams will be a breeze.
She's a good Prof, very friendly and funny. Recommend taking her !
I learned a lot, she's is very patient and very relaxed. I liked her Jewish accent.
As a feashman, I would recommend taking this class it is lively and fun if you participate and listen carefully while taking notes. The professor makes you read but she also reads for you during the online lectures. I would say she treats her students with respect and very nice in asking about our day or making a brief chat before class.
Responds to emails fast. She isn't the friendly person. You have to work hard for an A. She calls the exams quizzes, which till take you at least 2-5 hours to complete.
The class is hard dont take it
She is overall cool, in order to pass to have to do the work. So take notes, READ the book and pay attention. Her exams are intense, so make sure you make enough time to do them. Other than that, she is a nice lady and loves to talk about her life experiences and kids. Oh and she also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, you can't fail
Open-note tests in which every multiple choice answer was A. Good lecturer, friendly, brings guests & has you read memoir excerpts she translated herself. No Powerpoints!
I really enjoyed this class. I was extra and printed her lectures to take notes that helped at the end of the year for the final. You get a quiz every week that is open book with 3-4 questions that need to be typed. She really likes questions and she wants to hear about your opinion on what you read.
The whole grade was dependent on the six reading quizzes taken throughout the semester and only required two books for around fifteen dollars. She formats all the quizzes so that each question tells you what section to find the answers in. So not only are the quizzes easy, you actually learn a lot from her lectures and from what you have to read.
I will never take a course with Elaine Goodfriend ever again. Tremendously pretentious and all over the place. Steer clear.
For Fall 2019: assignments were made up of online multiple-choice and some written quizzes/essays (the professor said she was considering more written for the future semester), a quiz on the map of ancient near East, an oral report and a take-home online final. Some reading to be done before each class.
Very awesome professor; always in a good and hilarious mood. Easy class if you are interested in learning about the subject. Determined and only grades are on a few quizzes and papers. Quizzes are very well organized and is easy to locate answers. Very understanding and listens to her students. Take this class if you're looking for something chill.
A lot of busy work be prepared. Weekly quizzes with free response included as well as another assignment weekly. She is a nit picky grader down to grammar so be careful when writing essays. No recorded lectures but a lot of videos/reading in place of lectures. If actually read through all the material and stay on top of assignments you'll do good
Unorganized--you get test questions for chapters not covered. Convoluted--her test questions are worded poorly. I was interested in reading the bible, and she made it boring. I regret taking her--I should have taken the Japanese Culture class instead. So far, the worst teacher at CSUN. Don't be tricked by her good score above--AVOID.
I liked this professor. She was funny and would crack jokes in class. She was a bit strict with grammar but not anything you can't avoid. She marks you absent if you used your phone in class, a bit pretentious but understandable. Sometimes steers off topic and talks about random stuff but usually her stories are entertaining. Not a bad professor.
Professor Goodfriend's class has a lot of moving parts, but if you stay on top of the work, you'll do well. The readings and assignments are manageable, and using tools like Unstuck AI can be super helpful for study prep.
Teacher is chill. I recommend this class. (Taught in a secular way btw.) There are online quizzes on the assigned module/ bible chapter readings about every 2 weeks (a little heavy, but fair and open book (Bible), plus done at home. if you try, you should be able to at least get C or higher. (bible needed in class because you read bible in class)
Honestly shes not bad i just don't want to pay attention shes not bad at all when it comes to teaching like this is pretty simple and you just gotta study normal don't push yourself she does sometimes in class assignments but usually shell let you do it in a group so its really helpful. Easy A but again kinda a pain in the butt with her strictness.
