Go to class, listen to the examples she gives in class and STUDY STUDY STUDY everything in from the book. She gives a term sheet out before the test. Everything on the test is right there. You know that you'll do fine.

Absolute best prof in the department. Her class isn't cake, but this is college folks..try a little studying and you'll get an A.

The class is pretty easy and interesting and the tests aren't bad as long as you study. She makes it as interesting as possible for Powerpoint. I would recommend the class.

She's very nice and helpful. STUDY your notes and you will do well on her tests. A lot of the questions are always "the following is true....EXCEPT" Just know your stuff........good class

Class was a ton of work but she is a total point fairy. took her and com415 and adv.interpersonal all during a summer and got A's. She is very helpful. Much easier in the advanced classes the com 204. speeches are graded hard. no A's given on those.

what an easy course....if you study the review sheets you will get an A, unless you are a damn retard. she's hot, too. too bad she wears that damn black jacket every class.

Lainey is a great teacher. Her seminars are interesting and her stories are classic. She may be a little scatter-brained but this adds to her charm. And how can you not love her black jacket??? Speeches are all given B's, but you can still get an A if you show up. Take Her!!

She really is interested in her field and tries to keep your interest as well. Interpersonal was a fun class. The discussions were a lot of fun, and the tests were literally straight from the review sheet. She doesn't want anyone to fail. Go to class, particpate, study the notes and you'll do well

Although the course is mainly PowerPoint, she makes it as interesting as possible with stories to back up the information. You'll do well if you attend class and study directly from the notes and study guide.

Cool teacher. All power pt slides, easy to follow. READ THE BOOK FOR THE TESTS. A lof of questions are about the book on tests. Makes class fun with stories to relate to the information

Lainey is one of those profs that if you do what you're supposed to and participate, you'll do fine. She's nice, helpful and she really knows what she's talking about. She has studied this stuff forever. Her examples are ones that would really happen to you, not something that's fake or far-fetched.

Dr. Jenks is so awesome. Not an intimidating professor like some, she is very easy if you have a question or need help. Her tests can be tricky, 20 answers of each letter(a,b,c,d) so that can mess you up. Careful!

Great Prof. Tests can be tricky but she is very laid back and friendly. Gives good examples. Use the book and study guides and you will do well.

Attend class, study the terms and you will do fine! Be ready to hear about her family... haha she uses them for her examples a lot!

I hate the tricky quizzes cuz theyre very subjective! Dont bother reading the book word for word (skim thru it) very hard to get an A on speeches. To get good grade on speech, pick a unique topic(one that she doesnt know much about)

I've taken Lainey for many different upper level comm classes and she is the best teacher! She has the best stories and is a great teacher. I recommend her for ANY communication course. If you take her for 204 don't be discouraged to take her for upper levels, she doesn't use power point ever again.

Over the past 4 years at WCU I have had Lainey for several Com. courses from public speaking to Friendship com. and she is by far the greatest professor I have ever had. She actually cares about her students and makes class enjoyable. Take her if you can. Make sure you do your work and attend class she hates slackers!

...this is a fun an exciting teacher...her class is very interesting...it's a subject i thought would be boring but she makes it fun...

Lainey's class discussions are what makes her classes so much fun. She uses great examples from her life that help make the topics we talk about easier to understand. While her exams can be hard, she is very fair. I would go as far to say she is one of the best Professors at this University. Very approachable too.

She's a good professor! Sometimes her discussions can get a little boring and repetitive. I wish she would show more movies and visuals instead of having us sit in a circle and talk the whole time. She's easy if you study and helpful! I'd definitly take her again.

Dr. Jenks is cool and very approachable. She can be very funny, too (think Seinfeld funny). Class discussion is always fresh and interesting. She talks a lot about her family. Exams are relatively easy. All multiple choice. Kinda looks like Cheryl Hines from Curb Your Enthusiasm. Definitely worth taking. You'll like her!

By far, the best professor I've ever had. Classes are always interesting, discussions are fun, and she is hilarious. You actually look forward to going to her class.

Best teacher in the department, have taken her three times and would take her again if I didn't have to graduate. Pay attention to her examples and just do exactly what she asks.

Jenks is a great professor, study all terms for her exams and you'll do fine. Also, attend all or most classes. Note: You get the grade that you earn, she will not give you one extra point, if you get a 79.3% she will not give you an 80%, which sucks. But overall, awesome prof!

First off, she does give A's if you work for them, I got one. She created an environment for public speaking that was very non-threatening and that helped to greatly reduce some of my nervousness. She's funny and also keeps class moving, so even in summer with two hour classes, you aren't staring at the clock. Bottom line, she's a great professor.

Just showing up & doing ok work doesn't validate an A You EARN an A! She's very clear & helpful about how your speeches should be prepared Puts you at ease with a smile when you're in front of the class Jenks is nurturing, enthusiastic & funny, but also takes her lessons seriously. Tests are tricky but straight from the book SO READ IT! ~~ D.D.

Wonderful class. Really great discussions, makes a class that is mostly based on theories VERY interesting. And it's just a bonus that she's funny, and there are no tests. But be ready to do 10 journals and write two pretty big papers.

Loves, Love, Loved Jenks!! Her teaching style is great. This is my second time taking her for a course. I will be taking her again. She is great, fun, and down to earth. I loved every class. Take her, take her. No test, only two papers (pretty intense) 10 Journals and a presentation. Start papers early!!

Dr. Jenks is an awesome teacher. She teaches all textbook def.'s so there's no way you can be confused... you either know it or you don't. I looked forward to going to this class each week. TAKE HER!

My fave teacher thus far. She's hilarious. This class is great, it's all about how ppl interact so she encourages us to talk about our own experiences. We sit in a big circle and just talk the whole time, but it's all relevant to the course. Not boring at all. Looked forward to going to class! Lainey's great! Def take her if you can!!

Jenks is a fun and exciting teacher. She really loves her student and her work...but with that said is a bit of a tight grader. Most the of posts on here are dead on with her rating when they say she is awesome, which she is. At the same time you need to earn an A.

Excellent teacher. Took this class during the summer and she makes it so easy to understand. Failed it during the fall and got an 89 in her class. Use the study guides, and didn't open the textbook.

The textbooks are really boring and can be difficult to understand but if you pull what you can for the comment sheets she'll accept it. The papers are annoying, but it's an upper level class. Topic is interesting and fun and the class is just an open discussion for the most part

This class is easy, but she is stealing money from West Chester. I have had her twice and both times we sat in a circle with notes already printed out. she has the same notes we have and just reads them off to us as we try not to fall asleep. A trained monkey could teach the way she does.

I <3 Lainey Jenks. She's very honest and forthright in what she wants you to hand in. But you must read and don't hand in crap, because you WILL NOT get a good grade if you hand in crap. She's nice and seems easy but she wants the work to be done and done well. As far as tests go, study, read, come to class. Nothing strenuous, just get it done.

She is very interesting to listen to. I didn't mind that attendance was mandatory because she was a great teacher. My only complaint is that she takes a very long time to hand back assignments BUT she takes that into consideration when grading and will even cancel class if she's behind on grading. She's a very fair teacher!

Attendance for students is mandatory; non-excused OR excused abscences and any kind of lateness will result in 10% off your participation grade. This is funny as she herself has canceled class and arrives to class late every day. Don't plan on seeing an assignment grade for two months or more. But, this class is easy if you do the work

Completely pointless to hold an actual class. This can easily be taken over D2L. This class is interesting but is a joke. She cancels class and offers the chance for extra credit if you don't miss any of the ones we actually are supposed to go to. She takes forever getting your grades back to you, always forgetting them in Delaware,not approachable

Jenks is by far my favorite professor at WCU. I've had her for theory, disability, friendship and family. Her classes are always interesting and she gives useful insight and examples with the concepts. Attendance is mandatory but she makes class worthwhile. Not too hard of a grader but definitely take the time to do her assignments thoroughly!

She's a nice lady, very opinionated, has good examples, and gives you the notes. Her notes are good but they're disorganized. She does NOT hand back papers timely at all. It took over a month to get back two papers of mine. Could be a great class if she got her act together!!

Awesome and nice

the class is all discussion based on readings. a decent amount of papers, but nothing overwhelming. Jenks keeps the conversation going so it doesn't feel like a 90minute class. extra credit if you attend every class.

Took a winter session class & I would definitely do it again with Jenks. She was awesome. It was a lot of work, but she's fairly lenient with paper grading which made up most of the course. She's harder with presentation grades, but if you show up to class, participate and put in an effort, you'll do well!

Pretty easy class, definitely passable as long as you study. Tests are directly from the notes which she provides. Cumulative final which was essentially each question from the tests. Just a lot of memorizing theories.

I loved taking her! She was so nice. There is no tests. Just go to class most of the time and do your work and you'll get an A.

Professor Jenks is great! Strongly advise any communication studies majors to take her classes. One does have to put forth some effort, but she makes the material easy to understand in class.

Had Dr. Jenks 3 time over the course of my 4 years at WCU and I would take her for every class if I could! She expects you to participate, however, she really makes class interesting so you WANT to participate rather than feel forced. Lainey is a great professor. She gives great examples and stories which make class enjoyable. Not bad at all for a writing emphasis (Five 500 word reading learning papers These are easy, one 8-10 page interview analysis paper)

I decided to take the accelerated winter class and it was the best decision ever. We were only graded on a few things but it's not bad. You definitely need the book. She grades harsher on presentations but as long as you put effort you will be fine! The 8 hour class never dragged except on presentation day b/c you had to watch so many.

Lainey was a really great professor overall. The papers were easy for the most part, just require effort. There is one solo presentation that she expects a lot from, but as long as there is effort shown you will be fine. The examples she uses make class interesting and it typically goes by pretty fast. Take this class if you can!

Laney is the best! She is the one professor I remember at WCU. I had some health conditions at the time and she was so sweet and accommodating. She required you show up to class, but it wasnt too tough. She engaged with you and kept it interesting. She had you read and write responses on your own time, which I loved. High recommend her!

I'm not sure why Prof. Jenks has some bad ratings on here. I thought she was a really great professor. Her instructions for our speeches were clear and concise, and she graded things fairly. She is also caring and understands that life happens. I took her online course over the Winter Session and she was great! I definitely recommend her.

I really enjoyed professor Jenks. She can seem unapproachable at first but in reality she is very approachable and is willing to meet with students and discuss and issues, concerns, and questions. Her friendship communication class is very engaging and fun. She does not give a lot of homework at all... Such an easy A.

She took over our class from another prof and she's absolutely amazing, let us vent so she could get an understanding of what we had dealt with so far, took control swiftly and clearly explained how she would be teaching and grading the rest of the semester. Lectures and notes are concise and easy to comprehend. Wish I had her the whole semester.

My hero. Saved my class from a professor who was stuck up and rude. Jenks' teaching is very upbeat and motivates you to learn. She is very caring and willing to help you if needed. If I could, I would take another one of her classes.

Solid professor. Syllabus and emails can be a bit intimidating, but her grading is fair overall. Be aware that she will take off points for things that may seem irrelevant. So follow the instructions carefully and implement the feedback she gives you. EC was also offered for my (winter) class.

She was a good professor, and I feel like I did learn something in this course! Although, the grades came out at the very last minute and multiple items got cut from the curriculum. She is a kind and understandable professor, just do not expect to see grades for assignments right away. It did not bother me too much!

I took SPK 208 online and liked this course. Some assignments were cut from the syllabus and we got many extensions.
