she is very confusing at some times but she is very nice, you have to do work for the class
Horrible teacher. did help. does way to fast. doesnt listen to students
just don't take her
GREAT lady, will help if you make the effort. A little hard to understand, but if you're good at math, it's not a challenge.
She's alright. Her tests are long and tough. Her lectures are understandable but she makes a whole lot of mistakes. Seems to be about what you're going to get for math here though. Don't avoid her but don't go looking for her either.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! I had her before and she was not helpful outside of the class and she did not care what was going on personally in your life and if it was affecting your work. She failed me even though I was going through a tragedy.
TERRIBLE CLASS!! Made my change my major. She doesn't understand that not every student gets what she is teaching. Tests are impossible...just switch majors now
tests are tough. she considers 3 points a curve. quizes are fairly easy. make sure to attend
thought she was simple. If you took are prepared from HS, her two calc courses are easy.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! She is a terrible teacher who will review the examples that are in the book during class, yet she tests you on material she never explains. I chose to withdrawal the class and she is definitely the reason. BEWARE!
I have absolutely NO idea what this dr terry is talking about. ill put it this way, the tutoring center knows me by name and im still failing
haha, she's crazy...you have no idea what she talks about during her lecture but the tests aren't that bad...she's ok
Horrible teacher, don't take her under any circumstance. She is boring, confusing and her tests are impossible. She doesn't care if you come to class and doesn't care about participation at all.
worst teacher ever
STAY AWAY! She takes the hardest way to solve problems. Tests can be hard. Not good at explaining things. Very confusing. She talke the ladies man from SNL. yeaaa
she is the DEVIL incarnated! Take her if you enjoy failing!
She is a great professor, always willing to help outside of class. Her classes are interesting, and she explains everything very clearly.
A very very hard teacher,She gives very hard tests, if you want to fail take her
Easy tests. A little unclear about things, but considering the other teachers that I had an option of taking, she was BY FAR the EASIEST.
Dr. Terry is great. She knows her stuff and is always present for her classes. Never late. She is a tough grader but if you do assignments and study like one should do in any subject, you'll do well. She has immense concern for her students and is always willing to help.
this class was breeze, she lets you have notecard for all tests, and her grading scheme is a joke (drops lowest test makes it the highest) I got 2 A's in the class both times I had her, if you just know the material and do her little Homework assigments you'll be rolling
I took this class when I was a junior in hs and found it fairly easy. She allows you to use index cards on tests and even on the final. She's a very good teacher and explains things clearly.
She was the worst teacher ive ever had by far. All she does is copy things from the book. She always does problems wrong and gives tests that dont even apply to what she taught.
Shes such a good teacher. there is homework but its not impossible. copy the notes and you should be good for the tests. yyyeeaaaahhhhhh.
Not a verry good teacher, she just gives alot of examples and doesn't care to ask if anyone know whats going on, the classs was rediculously hard, and the homework is very impossible and due for grading every week, no quizes and grades are hw, maple labs, and two tests and a final, i wouldn't take her ever again
very is a funny teacher who is speaks a little funny as well. but she does give homework and for the most part it is pretty easy....just check it over with some of the people in your class and you will do fine with your homework grade. she had to be one of my BEST MATH TEACHERS! no joke she is a great teacher who loves her job and you can tell
she's a good teacher who is helpful and doesn't assign too much work. I'd definitely take her again.
Did not like this class at all. She gives alot of homework from the book, and sometimes doesnt know how hard it is and some problems on the homework were not even taught in class. I would not take her again. I did not enjoy this class and liked math before this class, but now I despise math.
Loved this woman. Class is tough, obviously - it's calculus! Put your work into the hw and you'll do fine. If you have no interest in math don't take this class, that's stupid. If you do, Dr. Terry is a good-natured, lovable teacher who obviously cares a lot for both her students and for mathematics. I'd take her again in a heartbeat.
Once you get past how she talks she is a great teacher. Probably won't like her at first, but stick to it. Grades homework assignments every thursday and they are tough, but just ask for help from someone that understands it. Quizes are easy, but tests are really hard. She allows a notecard for every test though.
Great teacher who loves her job. Explains things clearly and very thorough. good teacher for calc 1 but the book they use is toughhh (stewart)
The way she talks and the amount of graded homework will drive you insane but exams are easy because she lets you use a notecard.
Talks really funny. Gives plenty of homework but grades them all. They will either make or break you in that class because that's mostly what your grade is based on. You're allowed to use note cards during test so they aren't too bad.
Knows a lot and teaches the information nicely. She writes the notes on the board and repeats things that are very important. There is not a ton of work, but enough that you understand the material. Just pay attention and take good notes and you will do fine.
OKAY! get used to that word she says it so much! Very annoying. Hard to pay attention bc her voice is so annoying!
You'll have a tough time if you've only taken pre-calc because Dr. Terry teaches things in a confusing way sometimes! Sweetest lady though. Great at giving points back if you feel like your work was misunderstood & is always willing to help in office hours! The class is tough... but she's the best Calc teacher at SJU.
Although she can be confusing at times, she is a SWEETHEART. Loves her job and always willing to help. Makes you work for you work for it but it is definitely possible to receive a AB in this class despite her weird grading scale. Must do homework because its all graded. At the end of semester she dropped lowest grades in most categories.
This class wasn't very difficult at all. A large portion of your grade (35%) is homework and in class assignments which are pretty straightforward. The other 65% consists of two tests and the final, all three of which you can use a notecard to write anything you want on.
Very nice lady, and her lectures are actually pretty good so long as you pay attention. She grades pretty fairly on the exams as well. The only complaint I had was that the homework assignments are graded very harshly (because she has a Math major grade them), and that dragged my grade down. Not bad overall.
Dr. Terry's class The Whole Truth About Whole Numbers was a walk in the park for me. She clearly explains the topics and has a routine schedule of homework. She gives one homework assignment per week and there is normally one in class assignment per week which is very easy. Overall, it was an easy class to take which fulfilled my math requirement.
The classes can be annoying since you take a ton of notes, but they are important so pay attention to what is going on. There are weekly assignments due that are a big factor of your grade. Two tests and then the final, able to use a notecard. Id say this class is an easy B- to B+ with good work to get above that. TAKE GOOD NOTES, ASK FOR HELP
Dr. Terry is very enthusiastic about her job & material but has one major downfall: she teaches the content of this intro calc course like you've already taken calc. This was super frustrating and made the class very difficult, so asking questions and being persistent is a must. Sometimes test content doesn't align with class content. Ask for help
Terry is a decent teacher. Her classes can be boring but what do you expect from math. The homework are probably grader a little too tough but that's just my opinion. The decent are not a cakewalk but I wouldn't call them very hard either. Just pay attention in class (if you can), take the homework seriously, and study and you should get an A or B
Dr. Terry's lectures are very long and tiring. The homework is very difficult and it's graded very intensely. This was my lowest grade of the semester and the final was horrible. I wouldn't take her again.
Dr. Terry was not my favorite professor. She talks a lot and does not teach topics very well. Her homework and tests are hard, you need to study for them. Also, do not skip class. She passes a roll sheet around and if you miss a class - you will be behind a whole chapter. If you could take another professor - probably should consider.
Love this woman. She's a little crazy but love her. She moved really slow through beginning material, but sped up about halfway with a lot of assignments. Gives a notecard for exams and a lot of online quizzes. She explains things well, always asks for questions and is really helpful. Definitely take her if you have to take MAT155.
I got a C+ in Calc 155, keep in mind I got a 95 in calculus in my senior year of high school. Her lectures are hard to sit through and are very long. I know that I was not the only one in that class who did not get what she was doing because we all talked about it. I literally would get 70s on HOMEWORK. She grades too hard for me.
Her class is so boring. She writes too much stuff on the board all the time. She's super nice and funny, but makes calculus even more dry than it already is. Weekly quizzes are pretty easy. One midterm and one final, you get to bring in a notecard to both tests. Not a terrible class but buckle up because you might just fall asleep.
I had Dr. Terry for both calculus and precalculus. She is a great professor and was easy to learn from in such a hard subject! You do lose points if you miss class.
Dr. Terry is very approachable and kind, but grades pretty harsh and assigns a LOT of homework. Expect to do about 5-7 hours a week of online problems. Everything is graded for correctness and not completeness. Although, if you don't understand something, she will definitely take the time to make sure you know it completely before moving on.
She's a great professor but man was her class hard, I think much of it was how the department organised the material but calc was incredibly difficult
A quiz almost every week, an hour and fifteen minutes of boring non-engaging lectures twice a week, 1-2 hours of homework every week, two tests. She writes so many things on the board. Quiz averages are usually 40% - 60% and you get a little card to write on for both tests. TAKE NOTES Some quizz are open note! No slides on canvas, *TAKE NOTES*!!
I loved professor Terry. her homework is not too difficult, and the weekly quizzes are extremely easy. she gives a lot of partial credit for answers even if you do not get them right. there are 2 tests in the semester which are quite difficult but if you stay on top of it you'll be fine
She drones on for the whole hour and fifteen minutes. she doesn't engage with the class. she gives a quiz every week. she gives an hour to two hour long homework every week. the tests are insanely hard even with the little index card she gives us. even if you take notes and understand the material her tests will throw you off horribly.
Dr. Terry was very heavy on lectures. She would lecture every single day on three or four different topics and then quiz you on them every week. She also gives homework that is due on the same day the quiz is. It makes for a review but it is still a lot covered. Do not even consider missing a class because you will miss so much in the lectures.
Super annoying, boring, long class, she can literally write on the board the entire class period with little to no stopping because she does not make mistakes. She does not engage with the class much and her head is always faced at the board. Never gives curves, tests are life or death for ur grade. Take a lower level course to not be stressed.
Dr. Terry is a terrible professor. She always faces the board and she never engages with the students in the classroom. If you fail one test, you are done for and your grade will be bad. She gives homework once a week, not difficult, but very time consuming. It took me three hours on average to complete.
Dr. Terry is an average professor. I am a math person so I did not mind the class. However, for Calc 1, there are two tests that make up 45% of your grade and the tests can be very difficult. There are also weekly quizzes which make up 25% of your grade. Homework is graded for accuracy and not completion. Overall, it is calc and will be difficult.
I would recommend not skipping this class. If you miss one class you will be so behind. She does not post notes to Canvas so if you do miss class make sure to get notes from a friend in the class!
Dr. Terry is so nice however she does move kind of fast. There are short weekly quizzes that (to me) are a lot more difficult than the homework and problems we do in class. She is available during her office hours and over zoom for anyone that needs it and says students can email her anytime. She is extremely caring and I recommend her.
I had Dr. Terry for Pre-Calc, MAT155 & MAT162, and I would say that she can be a confusing professor to listen to during lectures, but if you go to her office during hours she is really helpful. Her grading criteria are very exam heavy and she usually gives weekly quizzes, but at the end of the semester, she drops the lowest HW and quiz grades.
Dr. Terry is very sweet but if you don't understand the material, you will not have an easy time in this class. Spent 2-3 hours on each homework and they are barely worth anything. Your grade is solely reliant on quizzes and tests so if you do poor on them you will do horrible in the class.
You have to study last week's material for the weekly quiz which is also the same day that the homework of that week is due: reviewing the older topics plus learning the new ones simultaneously. You will spend 10+ hours a week on homework and that's not counting studying for quizzes; expect to teach yourself as she just drones on in the class.
she's a good person but as a teacher she talks to herself most of the time. the only reason why I got a good grade in this class is because I already did the material I high school. I would not recommend taking her again
I had Dr. Terry twice. Class is hard because the concepts are hard. She lets you write a formula sheet for exams. I think as long as you show up to class take notes and practice the example problems for the tests, you should be fine. She is accessible outside of lectures too and genuinely wants students to succeed in her class.
She's quick but good. Makes Calc as easy as you can given how hard it already is. Enjoyed her feedback and how nice she was.
Pretty good professor. Cab go kinda fast, makes Calc as easy as a professor could
Just because someone is good in math, does not mean they should be teaching it. This teacher is the perfect example of this. Knows the material, does not know how to teach it. You'll struggle unless you get a tutor (or 2) to reteach you everything. Wait for a better teacher to take a math class with so you don't waste your time.
She is a great person and is very sweet, but a horrible teacher. She never engages with the class; she also doesn't provide a single normal example. Full on would not recommend taking her class unless you are able to teach calc 1 to yourself. If you can't teach yourself, you are basically screwed. Tests and quizzes are your whole grade.
Dr. Terry was one of the few professors who actually seemed like she enjoys her job! She teaches at a fairly quick pace but her homework assignments are great for studying and gives you plenty of chances to get a 100%. Her quizzes and tests are almost EXACTLY like her lectures and homework. 10000% would take again if I could!
Pretty standard workload for a math class. Not too hard but found Terry a little boring. Not terrible but definitely better options.
She's a good professor, one of the nicest ones. Very lecture heavy and does allow a notecard on tests.
Terry is the best professor ever! Calculus isn't meant to be easy, so don't expect it to be—but Terry makes it so much more manageable. She's an absolute genius and queen and is extremely fair with grading. Don't let the current ratings scare you. If you pay attention and put in your best effort, you'll do well.
great professor. makes the content easier to understand. drops quizzes, homework, and an exam at end of semester. note cards for exams. exams and quizzes are fairly easy. there are many quizzes but they're helpful for exam prep
Dr Terry, is an ok professor. She goes a little fast and makes everyone bored out of her mind. Also if you're not understanding what you are doing you may want to consider a tutor. She says "Okayyyy" a lot as a filler word. She said 100 times on a review day. Have fun!
Terry is one of the best prof I have ever had! I have never been a math person but she makes every lesson super easy to understand. Her class is lecture heavy and sometimes can be boring but she is so sweet and approachable. She truly loves what she does and cares about her students. Amazing and would 100% take her again.
The teaching style lacked interaction and detailed explanations, the fast pace hindered comprehension, the 5-9 pages of homework led to burnout, and grading homework for accuracy instead of effort discouraged learning. There are other professors worth taking! This should be last resort.
talks SO MUCH. she talks to herself basically. her quizzes are so hard. you have a quiz every week. her hw is so hard too. grades hard. her tests are even harder. her final and midterm.... HARD. no extra credit. awful lecture. i went through 4 notebooks cause of how much UNNECESSARY information she provides. she's very sweet tho!
She is a very sweet lady but she talks to herself and teaches herself. The class has zero interaction with the students. The only reason I found this class easy was because she was teaching math beauty. She was not teaching us, she was just copying her notes on the board. A 20 point in class assignment every friday and 3 tests. A few homeowrks.
Liked her a lot and gave you as much credit as she could
The professor knows the subject but struggles to teach it clearly. Lectures are hard to follow, the board is difficult to read, and there's no textbook or organized structure. Weekly quizzes are tough, timed, and strictly graded. You'll mostly be teaching yourself — the tutoring center will become your best friend.
Dr Terry is very nice and is very clear during her lectures. She goes over the material slowly and does a lot of examples so it is easy to understand. She also offers 5 points possible extra credit points for each exam and lets you use a cheat sheet.
It can be hard to understand her lectures and you almost definitely will need additional tutoring but she is generous with grades. She drops one hw quiz and exam and lets you to have a card on every test even the final. If youve already taken pre calc in hs then she is alright but if it's your first time with the course maybe find someone else.
Nice person but not a good teacher, she kind of just talks at the class rather than teaches and isn't good at answering questions. Tough grader on tests and gives weekly quizzes. You'll have to teach yourself a lot in order to understand things.
Dr. Terry is a sweetheart, but she is a lousy lecturer. If you have a question she will just repeat your question back to you in a different way, pretending like she just answered it. Homework saved my grade (if you know you know ;)).
