The class was our instructors world alone. She often seemed to forget we were there anxious to learn. Class was more difficult than it needed to be genuine help was not
horrible teacher. not helpful. tests extremly hard. SUCHS AS A TEACHER
Horrible teacher;More concerned with overall course content then student comprehension;Repeatedly encouraged students to DROP instead of offering individual help;Lectures were difficult to follow and labs were rushed.
A really good and thorough teacher. She cares. She is very sweet and wants to help but tells you you need to know this stuff. I really liked her.
Terrible Teacher. Cares about content more than the class's comprehension. Directly expressed her below par teaching qualities and pushed students to drop the class rather than get help or to help them herself. Said another teacher could teach me better.
Horrible teacher. Admitted that she was not good at Bio- she normally teaches Micro. Not helpful- Specifically says , "There isnt anything I can do for you". Encourages everyone to drop out. Goes off on tangents of info not on tests or final. Unable to focus on important information. Do not take
Terrible teacher. This class has a lab but you would hardly know it! 95% lecture, quizzes and exams. The tests and quizzes are very difficult especially since she puts questions on them that arent covered in class! doesnt offer to help just says go to the learning lab. doesnt actually TEACH
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!! Test questions come from who knows where. Handouts are decent, powerpoint ok. Test qestions do not come from much of what is covered in class. Will not give individual help, refers to learning lab only.
Rough class, with a lot of information. Her lecture doesn't follow suit with test questions. Do not take!
She is a great teacher if you just give her a chance. She loves what she does and shows it in her performance as a micro teacher. I have learned so much and have REMEMBERED almost ALL of it. That speaks for itself. Interesting but VERY challenging, Take it in the summer if possible. It's not so in depth.
she tells us to come before class if we need extra help. I went to her one morning and she was like couldn't you have come after class? I'm really busy in the mornings and basically brushed me off. In the end, got no help. This should tell you what kind of a teacher she is.
This teacher is seriously a joke. I would avoid her at all costs. She had a very bland personality and a majority of people whind up droppin her because god knows where her test questions come from. Do youself a favor and try cunningham for this class who is much much better.
Teaches slowly so you can understand it easier.
WORST MICRO TEACHER AT MC3! She knows what she is talking about but doesn't present it to the class very clearly. Test questions come from no where, and she is very distracting. But what do I know I audited, oh wait, she encouraged me as well as 10 other people.
AVOID!! Her teaching skills are horrible and her voice is even worse!!
All i can say is her voice is so bad that all you want to do is laugh and her eyes pop out of her head. Very helpful teacher but very strict and gives no extra credit. Very bland!
I hate to criticize her, because she's very nice. But her lectures are so boring that if it wasn't for her grating voice, they'd put you to sleep.
A lot of people pick on her but I thought she was nice. Yes, she is by the book but if you do what you are supposed to do you have nothing to worry about. I HIGHLY recommend her class for a summer course. Tests & final pretty easy as long as you study
I like her. She is very organized and if you stick to studying her handouts you will do fine. It is a lot of memorization, But she can't help you with that. I would recommend her. She's very sweet.
Good teacher and a sweet lady. She really knew her subject matter and wanted her students to understand it. If you study and pay attention in class and during lab, you'll do fine.
LOVE her! This class is hard, no matter who the prof is, but Ms. Venuti explains things clearly. She encourages questions and treats students respectfully. She gives weekly tests and drops the lowest grade. I would highly recommend her. You do need to study a lot, but you will finish the class knowing your stuff.
I really liked this teacher - Hard subject matter but she is easy to follow and extremely helpful. Of all the profs that teach Micro - she has got to be the best. Very intelligent and really enjoys teaching. Highly recommend her!
she is a great teacher, very sweet and respectful. The class is challenging and if you pay attention to her handouts you should be fine. I would definitely recommend her.
so nice and helpful. alot of work tho you cant fall behind. lab everyday and you need to be there. i would recommend her she knows her sutff.
She is a sweetheart and she really wants u to learn and do well. Just study hard and u'll be fine. For the final know the diseases and fungus's and their transmission, s & s, diagnosis and their treatments know that stuff for the final and ur guarenteed at least a 60..which is really all u should need if u get solid C's and a few B's and an A or 2.
GREAT teacher!! Wants you to learn and is there to help you. She is more then fair and takes everything into consideration when giving you your final grade. Stay ahead of the material - Final is tough. Do really well on her tests in the beginning of the semester because the last months material gets tough and you are truly fried. Take her!
She was great! Gives you all of the tools you need to get an "A". Just do your part and you'll do well. I enjoyed every class and lab.
I am a nontraditional student, a few years older than this professor. She gave me everything I needed to succeed. I added the hard work, got an (A). Before every test she came to class 30 minutes early to review. Micro requires a lot of memorization and hard work, but not tutoring like BIO132. HIGHLY RECOMEND HER. popliteal
Hands down one of the best teachers I have ever had. When have you ever heard of a teacher consistently coming to class a half hour early to help students? I am in no way an A student, but I am getting an A in her class. As long as you study hard and take notes you are gauranteed to get a high grade. Best teacher I ever had!!! EVER!!
nice demeanor--but one tough cookie. if you are lazy or looking for sweet class--this is not it. you have to really study hard to do well in this class--good luck
I had Ms. Venuti for Spring 2010, the class in very intense lots of reading and study time needed. She does give power points for all the chapters which helps. Attendance is Mandatory. If you don't plan on giving it your all don't register for her.
All the 4 credit BIO classes at MC3 are hard. You can succeed if you take the prerequisites and spend 20+ hrs per week studying. DO NOT take with A&P or if you haven't taken bio and chem. She is super nice too
Ms. Venuti is a great teacher. She gives you all the information you need to succeed. This class is tough and you have to do the work. If science is not your strong point then don't take in the summer.
I have to say Ms. Venuti is one of my favorite professors at Montco. She is so sweet. I learned a lot in this class. It wasn't easy, but what class is easy? It's good to read the textbook and keeping up with your work and don?t miss any labs! They?re fun and important for your grade.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER! She gives you ALL the material and means necessary to achieve a good grade. Help sessions prior to class & online. She's also an amazing teacher b/c she actually enjoys her job and really wants her students to succeed.
This professor is great! Her tests are easy!!! I have an A in both A & P, and got an A in this class. No way a student who studies gets anything less than an A. This is basic micro, not rocket science))))))
She is a very sweet lady but this is quite a challenging summer class.. two tests a week and her test questions are very in depth. You have to put in A LOT of studying, no matter how hard I'd try.. her tests always threw me for a loop, very frusterating. Goodluck.
Hands Down, I would recommend that if you want to learn microbiology and earn a decent grade take Ms. Venuti. She spares time to come to class 30 minutes before an exam to review which I found to be helpful. There are 10 exams and the lowest one is dropped. The material is tuff, but if you study you will pass. Don't stess over finl and lab practial
Ms. Venuti is very "textbook." Don't expect her to give hints to what will be on tests, or help you if you're confused with a test question. I've had issues with some of her test questions/answers because they weren't clear. She provides power points and outlines. You will not receive a passing grade if you don't study. Don't take it with A&P.
She's incredibly specific. You have to know the material but also understand it back and front, she gives open ended questions on her exams and you better write everything or she'll bean you on points. She goes very fast through lectures, and she will never adequately answer your questions during lecture. Good teacher, but you better study a lot.
She's a great teacher and knows her stuff. She cares about her students, shows up early for exam review and records all her lectures for Blackboard. No homework and she goes over all lab worksheets before turn in, but exams weekly and one writing assignment. Gotta pay attention in lectures and study. Mostly memorization but it's a lot of info.
Professor Venuti truly cares about her students' success. She reviews the material before each test and she is very thorough during lecture. She also posts lecture recordings on BlackBoard which are extremely helpful. You can't miss a class or lab though, you will miss out on a lot. I highly recommend her for BIO140.
I will share my experiences with all of you. This is honest description about the course and Miss. Venuti. Shes the best. 1. She want the students to be successful. She provides everything we need to be successful in her class, she make us Outline, power point, video sources. Anything pretty much what we need to be success taking Bio 140.
She is so sweet and cute. I love her so much! She'x always smiling and telling you you're doing a good job and helping you out in lab. She's very very thorough in lecture, so that you know everything you need to know. Tests are specific, but you're supposed to be challenged, that's how you learn! She's absolutely amazing and works so hard for us.
Tests are worth majority of your grade. Make sure you pay attention and take extra notes or you won't know the answers to her exams. I took this class over the summer, unless you have a lot of free time I would not take this class over the summer. It is a very hard course but you come out knowing a lot. If you do not study you will not pass.
She's a really good teacher and wants everyone to do well and does everything she can to make it happen. She comes to class 15 minutes early before every exam to go over the material and that's really helpful. Her lectures and outlines cover everything on her tests and the final. She also posts flashcards and study guides on BB.. Final's easy!
Took it during summer 2- her nasally voice can really annoy you in the beginning. Had 9 exams + a final over 6 weeks. She does a lot to help you but the tests aren't for someone at a community college level. They are harder than the ones I take at BU. Also there are labs 34 times a week with practical. Not for students who are aiming for easy A.
She is a great micro teacher! The class is tough in general so dont think you wont be working but she is the better choice. Gives lots of material to help study and only assigns one paper with clear criteria. She is also very nice and wants her students to succeed! There is a test every week so make sure you keep up with the studying!
No quizzes. Tests are 20 questions with at least 3 short answer. She grades the short answer extremely hard and wont give you full credit unless you write the exact words from her outlines down. Lectures are recorded online but she still expects you to show up every class and will deduct points from your grade if you don't. Extremely unorganized.
I took this course as a 6 week course over the summer it was positively the worst decision I made. She is not organized and neither is the course. They cram way to many tests in throughout the course. Two tests a week, and potentially a quiz. She lectures for 3 hours and leaves 45 minutes for lab. Nasal voice and smacking after every sentence.
I took this class during the summer (6 weeks). There are exams two days a week (sometimes a lab quiz & unknowns). As long as you study the outlines she gives you during the first day of class, you will pass with a good grade. The textbook is beneficial to understand concepts more clearly, but mainly, study from the outlines & the PowerPoints.
Microbiology is in no way an easy class, so you have to work hard for your grade. You have no idea what to expect on the tests or how to study. Took this during the summer, think it would have been better if it was a full semester class, but be prepared for every class and ready ahead. She is approachable, so take every opportunity to ask questions
Um her lectures are really long like 2 and a half hours of straight lecture with a small break and only 30 minutes for labs which you had to rush through everytime.
She is awesome. Tough, but is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject.
Ms. Venuti really cares about her students and knows a TON about the subject of microbiology. Be prepared to work, but it is so worth it!
I cannot stress how great Ms. Venuti is. She is super cute, bubbly and always positive! She does everything in her power to help her students succeed. I wanted to do well in the class because I wanted to make her happy lol. Definitely worth taking, you will work but you will learn A LOT.
I really enjoyed her. She is very intelligent and has strong lectures. Knows a lot about the subject.
I think a lot of the negative comments on here are from students who just didnt put in the work. She is a REALLY good teacher who cares. We should have to work hard to work in healthcare or the sciences.
She is great. Really nice and encouraging. She gives a lot of tests but those help with your grade. Unknowns are fun too.
Microbiology is hard and she makes it interesting and worthwhile. Would take her again.
She is tough but a really good teacher. You will learn a lot.
Venuti is a solid choice for this class because she gives an outline for each chapter, which meant that I didn't use my textbook at all. It's 100% memorization, nothing else. Lab is fun, but make sure you pay attention because you'll be quizzed on all of the labs at the end of the semester. I got a B in this class and an A in anatomy together.
Venuti was great! Hard class but she really knows her stuff and cares about her students success.
I took this course during the summer, 6 weeks. It was intense. But if you have to take micro Venuti is the best. I loved her quirkiness and shes very helpful and attentive. Her exams are straight-forward. After taking Abraham's she was like a breath of fresh air. Study her notes and you'll do well.
Venuti is so sweet! And she really knows her stuff. I learned so much from this class, really worth taking MICRO with her.
Floods you with material so working out what is important and what is just additional is impossible. Completely micro-manages everything - what is the point of grading worksheets if you are going to dictate them in class? Who provides 7 powerpoints, each 50 slides for EXAM REVIEW?? Don't take her if you have other classes or responsibilities.
Professor Venuti is a real gem. She knows her stuff inside and out and really cares about her students.
Prof Venuti teaches a great class. She's friendly, very organized and a good communicator. She's also very approachable and cares about students. Be prepared to work hard in this class. There is a a lot of material and it moves at a brisk pace. You must keep up with the class otherwise you won't do well.
I was nervous to take Venuti because of the low rating but shes THEE BEST!! Shes very organized, friendly, approachable, truly cares about her students, and is always willing to help. Its microbiology & immunology, so you have to work hard and show up to class, but Ms. Venuti makes it as easy as ever.
Amazing teacher she is so nice and caring. Her exams are really easy if you study the outlines she give out. There are 9 exams a midterm and a final, a writing assignment, and a couple lab quizzes. Lots of studying for this class but would 100000% take her again.
It's a very generic lecture class, the labs are okay because she is very organized in lecture as well, her lecture is very dull, she is very intelligent in her subject though. her voice is really squeaky and she sometimes uses a megaphone which she really doesn't need, she forces class interactions with discussions that no one really cares about.
She is a sweet professor who knows her topic very well as her lectures are engaging to the final minute. Do as I say: Go over the whole chapter PowerPoint, then the study questions word.doc, then the mastering, prior to each test she gives and you will be more than okay. Quizlet is your friend when memorizing diseases and traits of microbes.
Professor Venuti is the only professor you need to take for Microbiology! Although her PowerPoints and outlines are thorough, I promise you if you read the textbook especially bolded words, graphs and textboxes it will help. On your open-ended questions write as much as you remember being detailed. Last thing COMPLETE MASTERING BEFORE THE FINAL!!!
Pretty lecture heavy and an exam almost every week in a 14wk course. She is sweet and understanding and pretty straight forward with the labs. This course is difficult with probably anyone you would take but she makes it easier as she answers emails quickly and you can tell she enjoys talking about microbiology.
6 week accelerated course Good: + Extremely knowledgeable + Friendly and approachable + Lectures are clear and at a steady pace Bad - Gives a LOT of relevant but unnecessary information - Tests are very hard and involve luck if you don't know at least 95% of the material (knowing 80% of the material might get you a 60% or lower on a test)
Professor Venuti is by far the best science teacher I have had at Montco. She explains everything in simplified terms. She gives many tips on how to prepare and how to remember the material. This class was actually fun for me to learn and I am glad I took Ms. Venuti for microbiology and immunology!
Awesome instructor. Handouts coordinate with lectures. Offers weekly review sessions and recorded lectures. Complete her handouts! If she tells you to make a concept map of a topic, do it! Her tests, while mostly multiple choice, do consist of several essay questions so you need to be able to write everything down from memory.
Her voice grew on me. I love her so much. She's so cute and funny and I really enjoyed her lectures !!
Microbiology is a difficult class if you do not enjoy science but Professor Venuti did her best to help you pass the class. She is a fair grader, approachable, and holds review sessions for exams. Attending lectures and actively studying are key to passing. Glad I took her and was able to pass the class.
Very good okay yeah
This class covers A LOT of information. Don't make the same mistake I did; make sure you're studying or it is going to catch up with you on the final. Professor Venuti was great and very knowledgeable! Unit Tests: 50% of grade Final Exam: 23% of grade Lab Practical: 17% of grade Everything Else: 10% of grade.
If you do not take this class with Venuti, you will regret it 10000000/10 Perfect teacher I love her so mush
Prof V is nice and genuinely a good person but she expects way too much out of you. If you have other classes, drop them. You have an exam sometimes 2 exams every week. This class is very test heavy the material is difficult. There is no comprehension this is test taking skills + memorization. Amazing person, expectation are insane so be careful!
Amazing and a professor with a lovely personality. She gives you outlines of chapters & objectives to answer to study..that material will be exactly be on the tests 100%.She provides recordings of lectures and related material. She even does optional Zoom meetings to further review the material! The labs are pretty easy as well. Venuti is amazing.
She made the class fun however it's a lot of work she did warn us about the heavy loaded on lectures exams were also the hardest as well however she was fair on grading and wasn't harsh at all she is also a very sweet lady as well I'd recommend Prof. Venuti to anyone who's taking microbiology :)
I took 6 week summer class and Professor Venuti is amazing person and she's cute. She knows everything about microbiology. She provides chapter outline which is very helpful. Her tests are easy but needs lot of daily reading. She also does optional zoom meeting for test review. Best microbiology teacher at montco!!
Professor Venuti knows microbiology but isn't the best at teaching it. Her lectures often go off-topic and feel unorganized. The summer class is extremely fast-paced with 2-3 tests or quizzes a week, leaving little time to study. If you need structured lectures and time to prepare, I wouldn't recommend this class. Lab is painful too.
