Her accent is kind of hard to understand but she explains the material very good and answers any questions you have. She doesnt grade homework but quizes do come from hw questions so i would do them. Overall shes a good teacher
I agree with the comment above..she is a nice teacher and is very willing to help you. But, her accent is very thick and distinct that you can rarely understand what she is saying. She tries her best to explain the problems, but there is still not enough clarity. I personally wouldn't recommend her unless you like calc or you're good at it.
DO NOT TAKE HER! she says things like "if you dont know this, learn it by test time." and then moves on. she doesn't help, and rolls her eyes when you ask for her assistance. There is no TA, so good luck if you get stuck with her. thick accent.
YIKES! she is a nightmare, and when i know i have calculus that day, i'm beyond cranky. she is hard to understand, so you might as well not ask her for help. the textbook teaches you better than she does, though attendance is required. if you HAVE to take this class, TAKE IT WITH SOMEONE ELSE!!!
Rewards students that show an effort. Difficut to understand her, so sit near the front. Do the homework and your fine, cause quizzes are directly from the hw.
Not bad on the whole. Pretty helpful outside of class. The tests during the semester were not too bad, but the final was horrible, but she curved it like nothing. She works hard to make sure she's understood with her accent. Not bad, but not great.
She is the worst teacher possible. You could hardly understand her. If you ask her a question, she will role her eyes at you or she was wrong half the time. If you must take the class, then take it with another teacher! I love math and I struggled with her to get the grade that I got.
Easy class. She has an accent but her english is better than most and she repeats things if she feels no one understands her. The Test are really easy if u just pay attention in class. I haven't done any homework, and have been able to get a 100 average just from listening. Recommend for Dif Eq.
She talks quietly but makes the class easier than Vector Cal and Calc 2
The worst teacher in the math department. All she does is go over examples straight from the book and doesnt teach anything. Doesnt help you and never is in her office.
her accent is very hard to understand. she gives the impression she doesn't know what she's talking about. she makes hundreds of mistakes. there's always a quiz or worksheet to do or pick up. marks you absent for any reason possible. calls her students stupid all the time. overall, not good.
She is impossible to understand, speaks with a thick russian accent. Doesn't take attendance but a hard class nonetheless.
This teacher's class was an absolute waste of my time. I ended up having to teach myself most of the material. She was not helpful and had a horrible accent. You have three tests and a final. The first test was relatively easy, the other two were absolutely ridiculous! The final was kind of hard too. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! GET OUT ASAP!!!
UGH! Worst professor I have had since coming to USC. You can't understand her whatsoever. If you ask her questions you get stupid responses that don't help at all. I tried to talk with her about meeting after class to get help but she was unwilling to work around her scheduled hours, and since I had class during those hours, too bad for me. If you
I should have listened to all the others. It is so true! Do not, I repeat do not take her!
She does have a strong accent but overall her class isn't that bad. The quizes come directly from homework. She gives a lot of quizzes but drops a few. grades on a slight curve and her tests aren't nearly as hard as you think they will be. I ended up with a b+.
There is no point in repeating what has already been said. Just avoid this teacher. Just in case you are wondering, everything negative that has been said about her is true.
I could not understand a word this teacher said. She does not know what she is talking about and is quite possibly one of the worst teachers i have ever had. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER
Maybe if she didn't ridicule everyone that tried to ask her a question, more people would have stepped up to the plate. On the other hand, when she did answer the question, it was so redundant you might as well have not asked. I learned everything from the book, the final exam was terrible. If you have her-start studying now.I wouldnt recommend her
She is very helpful and gives many opportunities for extra credit. Go to SI if you are unsure of any concepts. There's no excuse for not doing well in this class.
her accent was hard to understand at times, but overall she has a very good teaching style. she uses simple techniques and makes things appear a lot easier. if you're okay with a russian accent, take her, she's great.
Besides the fact that she cannot speak english, she can't relate to students. confuses rather than helps everyone. do not take her unless you are able to teach yourself calculus and then do well on her tests. i would not recommend her.
Don't take this class. I could not understand anything that she said.
VERY hard class...made even harder. She has a distinct accent, which a lot of people can't understand. Personally, I COULD understand what she was saying, just not what she was trying to teach. I failed every single quiz we took yet somehow came out with a C. STUDY HARD!
this teacher was very hard to understand because of her russian accent. it didnt help that her ta had a thick chinese accent either. she can not relate to the student and was not a very good teacher. before her class i was pretty good at math but that changed my mind. sometimes she asks student for help on her problems
The material was not difficult, but you cannot understand her. She is obviously intelligent if she has a doctorate but can't teach worth a ****. She cannot explain anything and does not know how to teach. So if you have had calculus before save your notes if you get stuck with her because she is not a good teacher
can not speak english well makes `learning impossible
Probably one of the easiest math teachers at USC. She gives multiple choice exams and many short quizzes. Then she drops several grades at the end. Lots of extra credit is given as well. Attendance is not mandatory. Shes quite hard to understand at times, but it doesn't matter as long as you do the homework.
She definitely has a strong accent, but I really had no problem understanding her. She's not the best teacher ever but the subject is really easy. Homework is always online and exams are multiple choice. A lot of students were very rude to her and I felt bad because she truly is a nice lady.
Boguslavsky isn't as hard as i heard! Yes its Calculus a somewhat difficult subject but if you pay attention, take notes in class you can pass the class. GO TO SI because it REALLY helps! You have homework every night but she doesn't check it, but i would advise you do it because problems for quizzes come from the homework! I ended up with an A!
If you ever get a chance to speak with her one-on-one, I hope that you do. She is a really nice lady. She is a very easy teacher (all on-line homework, multiple choice exams, etc). She can be difficult to understand at times, so you will need to take extra care to listen in class. I recommend bringing a recorder if you have trouble with accents.
very lazy, if she doesnt know how to do a problem, she just skips it. When she writes notes on the board, she doesnt explain them, she hardly even looks up from her sheet of paper. pretty easy class though. i dont know about her if you have a chance, take someone else.
can't really understand her when she teaches and her teaching method is not good at all.
She is foriegn so her accent is weird. reminds me of stitch. the class is very easy. she teaches somewhat weird but if you write down the simple notes before the examples it is easy. she uses wiley which is ridiculous but her tests are easier then the homework.
ummm she is the worst but if you can get someone else DO!!! you can't understand her at all and she really does sound like stitch!! she doesn't even know how to do half the examples we have to correct her all the time! tests are "that" bad... i wouldnt take her again thats for sure!
She doesn't explain the topics necessary to understand the homework. This is extremely frustrating. Some of her policies are annoying. Avoid, if possible. If not, you'll live.
HORRIBLE!!!! To be on the safe side sign up for classes early so you dont have to take her class! She really doesnt know the english alphabet and her accent is horrible and she grades very strict!
not a good teacher, doesn't really help, hard to understand because of accent. class isnt very hard, multiple choice tests, drop 2 lowest quizzes, lots of homework but not very hard
Hard to understand her with the accent but once you get used to it youll be fine. Shes actually a pretty good teacher. just pay attention and do the online hw because its just like the quizzes and tests. Tests are multiple choice and can just plug in answers and work backwards.
She's a pretty good teacher once you get past the accent. She moves fast, but not too fast. She seems pretty understanding and nice.
She needs to revise her teaching method. When she is working out problems she will skip half the steps, saying that "we have done them before." Also she rarely understands what questions are being asked and for the final decided that it would be a good idea to take off all credit for an algebraic or arithmetic mistake. I do not recommend her.
This class is hard but doable. The tests are pretty much identical to the practice tests that she hands out, with the exception of the final. Study the practice tests and you will be fine. Her teaching style is awful. She skips many steps in class assuming that you know how to get from point A to Z. She also gives little to no partial credit.
Okay class. professor is foreign and makes a lot of mistakes, but not unbearable. I had an A the whole semester and did really poorly on the final so I got a B. three tests and a final (cumulative), as well as 8 easy quizzes. you'll be fine as long as you do the homework and go to class.
Teacher is very smart but not helpful. Thick accent that is hard to understand. Skips steps thinking that the student knows everything already. Failed to teach half of the sections before the chapter tests..had to teach them to myself. DO NOT RECOMMEND, I am an A/B student and struggled to get a C.
Horrible Teacher her tests are impossible, she is hard to understand DO NOT take the entire class is struggling to pass
DO NOT TAKE, worst teacher i had. HAlf the class was failing going into final. Doesnt teach, and tests are imposible i made all A's this semester excpet for this class
DONT LISTEN TO ANY OF THESE POST!!! I had this teacher my freshman year and EASILY made and A. Her test are multiple choice in a calculus class..how much more do you want? Study what she gives you and just look at your homework and you'll be fine. She has a heavy accent but will do whatever she can to help you. This is not a bad professor at all!!
Professor has a pretty thick accent but after a few classes its easy to get used to. Class is extremely easy if you do homework and study for tests. quizzes are directly from the homework problems so if you do your homework you should get an A
I did everything possible to make at least a C in this class. I went to SI, did every hw, reviewed, practiced, got tutoring, ect. and still came out with a D-. I do not suggest her because your work ethic doesn't matter. She only likes you if your a math snob who knows all the answers and sits up front.
This class is not bad at all. She is a decent teacher. You get over the accent fast. Quizzes are straight from homework and she gives you a warning when it will be. Study guides are extremely helpful. She drops quizzes and worksheets at the end. Must go to class to do worksheets. I made an A with no problem, Study and youll be fine
She was hard to understand because of the accent and she rarely answered questions in a clear way. I sat in the very front of the classroom and still had trouble hearing sometimes. I basically had to teach myself from the textbook. With that said, quizzes are a great grade booster and came straight from the homework.
Hardest teacher I have taken at USC and this class average for my 122 class was betwwen a 40 and 50 after the average drop below 50 she quit posting it. I was in the top 10 percent of that class and barely got a 70. AVOID at all costs
Her class is rather difficult. she has an accent making it difficult to understand her. there is a random pop quix every week. the quizzes are short answer but the tests are multiple choice. the practice exams are short answer and she doesnt go over them. avoid if possible
Not helpful what so ever. Very strict grader. Do not take if possible. She is a terrible teacher and has no remorse for her strict grading
She's rough, try not to take her class. Math 111 is not a hard course, and I'm sure there are easier teachers that are available. Attendance isn't mandatory but it totally is if you don't want to fail. Do NOT use the online textbook, it's much harder to navigate than normal books. She grades hard, doesn't like questions, and should be avoided.
I thought she was great. As long as you listen close to her when she speaks, she's great. She gives fair and reasonable grades. Homework is not bad at all. Tests are a bit harder than homework, so apply yourself. She offers lots of help, it's up to you to take advantage of it. She's great.
Math 111 is supposed to be a nice, easy intro to college math. She makes this class so difficult. She doesn't like taking questions and is not helpful. We never had one multiple choice test- they're all open answer. Very strict grader and the test questions are way harder than the homework and classwork. Avoid her.
She is a horrible professor! She does not try to offer helpf and she is a very bad teacher! It is very hard to understand what she says, and even when trying to talk to her about getting help she insists that there is nothing she can do. PLEASE AVOID THIS CLASS, THIS PROFESSOR!
I don't know why everyone thinks this class and professor is so awful. Boguslavsky is a nice professor, will help you if you ask, and the tests are almost exactly like the practice ones. I got over 100 in this class and would not lead you away from taking her. At first I was worried about understanding her, but it was not difficult at all. Easy A.
I believe that the class could have been easy for it being basic college math but when it came to pop quizzes and test they are actually hard , homework isn't mandatory but I believe that could have been a facto when it came to our grade and the TEST QUIZZES AND FINALS ARE HARD THE OVERALL CLASS IS HARD She doesn't believe in helping us
Tough class. Sorta hard to understand. She sent in my final grade without entering one of my quiz grades and test scores. It hasn't been easy to fix. If you have trouble learning math avoid this class at all cost.
Hard to understand, hard quizzes, hard tests. Not particularly friendly or eager to help students. does not appear to care. if math isn't a good subject for you DO NOT TAKE HER..probably shouldn't take her regardless
She is very hard to understand. Math is not my subject anyways, but she only made it harder. Try to take a different teacher if possible.
This teacher is the WORST at USC!! Her accent is awful, she gives no partial credit on the tests, you have something graded (classwork or quizzes) every day, and the notes she puts on the board make absolutely no sense! Her accent is so thick it's impossible. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!
Very dull, hard to understand, had to learn from the book
Her accent/ language is hard to understand. I am bad at math and hoped that since it was things I learned in HS that it would be a review/easy. No! She is not helpful and is stale. Class is boring. I wish I could have dropped and taken it again with a different teacher. Go to class and get the book.
She is quite difficult to understand, but if you stay in her class to complete the class work and quizzes, a good grade isn't difficult. Her exams are exactly like her study guide. If you are ok with going to ioginl SI sessions , her class is easy. Very Boring Class though
Her study guides dictate what exactly is on the test, but as far as her class goes it's boring and she is quite sassy to students. I do not recommend her because some of the material she teaches she makes harder than it actually is, and her accent does not help this.
Gives study guides before the tests that are extremely helpful. She has a very strong Russian accent that is difficult to understand sometimes. I had to do a lot of self-teaching in this class. Luckily this was a basic math class I have prior knowledge of, otherwise I would not have done well.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! WORST TEACHER EVER!!! Her accent is impossible, she gives quizzes every class, she doesn't email you back, she is sassy, and teachers the material in the most complicated way! This class should be easy but she makes it absolutely impossible and does not want to help the students. She made me hate math and dread school everyday!!
Freshman: Avoid. At. All. Costs. I would do anything, absolutely anything, to avoid this teacher. Math 111 should be an easy course but she makes it extremely difficult. If you take her, have fun self teaching yourself everything because her accent is so thick it's impossible to understand!
Seriously, try to avoid this teacher as much as possible. She is an extremely hard grader, which makes the class hard because you have to teach yourself everything anyways. She doesn't offer much help to the students and is often sassy to questions. Her accent is impossibly thick. Just don't take this class with this professor.
If you're good at algebra, then this class won't be an absolute fail. She is a rough grader and your grade relies on tests and weekly quizzes. Her accent is very very thick and she doesn't like to help you out too much. I would never take this class with her again.
SHE.IS.THE.WORST.TEACHER.AT.USC. NEVER TAKE HER! SHE OFFERS YOU NO HELP AND IS SO RUDE TO HER STUDENTS. HER ACCENT IS IMPOSSIBLY THICK. She is the most unhelpful math teacher at this university.
She is a terrible teacher and requires you to self-teach yourself out of the book. She offers no help when asked and does not email you back when you have concerns. Overall, the worst teacher at USC. Never take her. It was the worst mistake in my college career.
I really enjoyed this class! If you really want to receive an A in this class i would suggest sitting up front, doing the homework (so you can pass the weekly hw quizzes), and doing the study guides because the test is almost an exact replica! If you need help she is willing to work out problems with you as long as you try! Overall great teacher!
This isn't highschool so I dont know why people expected her to hold their hand through an algebra class. The material was easy and if you do the homework and study the practice tests (which are exactly like the test) you'll get an A fairly easily. Her accent isn't hard to understand its just different. I would recommend this class.
Very easy class if you actually pay attention in class and DO THE HOMEWORK as her quizes often have the identical questions from the hw. Also do the exam reviews for her tests as the questions are often nearly the same. She does have an accent and can be pretty dry when teaching but always takes questions and goes over hw. She is not that bad.
I seriously don't know what people are talking about. She isn't hard to understand (and I'm part deaf). I just sat in the front. She is also VERY helpful. She always answered questions, and never seemed annoyed. She is very organized. It's algebra, so the material is "dry", not her. Take her. Lots of extra points from classwork & homework.
Avoid missing class. Tests are relatively easy, she gives a study guide and a formula sheet u can write notes on. The only annoying thing is she assigns homework but never grades it so you must be self motivated to practice the material. Instead she'll give classwork that you can work with partners on that's an easy A.
Russian accent, but not bad. She gives practice exams that are a lot like her tests so they are pretty easy. the material in DiffEq is difficult and confusing, but she teaches them pretty well. The only problems she has is she is unable to answer questions due to a language barrier, she makes a lot of mistakes in examples, and she grades harshly.
There's nothing good to say about Elena. Thick accent, quizzes or graded assignments EVERY class, and impossible tests. She's not there for her students and you'll have to have previous knowledge of the subject before or learn from the book. Absolutely avoid at all costs. She ruined my GPA.
Worst math teacher I've ever had. She asks if anyone has questions then huffs about it when someone actually asks. No partial credit. Evil woman
She has an accent but I didn't have any problems with understanding her. She doesn't always understand what you are trying to ask when you ask her questions because of the language barrier. Her practice tests are exactly like her tests so if you do them then you're fine. Go to class-she will never take attendance but you need to go.
Such a sweet lady and a really good teacher! If you go to class and do the homework you'll be fine.
boring! her teaching style: put up powerpoint notes 5 min before class, read said power point, anyone have questions? She asks this but usually by the time she is done with the notes you are lost. The only reason I do like her is because the notes are good - she is just so dry when teaching them. her exam practices are just like her tests though
she has a strong accent and the classes are very boring but she explains all the material that will be in the test. if you go to class and do your hm you should be able to get an A. don't pay for the book !! just get the online version with webassign . you will save 100 $
Take if you intend on teaching yourself the material. She typically copies the book onto slides, reads them, and assigns ungraded homework. While a nice professor, she seems to lack passion or interest in both the material and teaching. Sighs when asked to work problems. If you practice a good deal, you could make a good grade. It's up to you.
You literally have to go to class to pass. Tons of pop quizzes and "classworks" on the material from that day or the day before. They aren't necessarily hard but they are graded and you will get a zero if you aren't in class. They can be a decent grade boost if you pay attention in class and get 100's on them.
Worst math teacher I've ever had. All she does is read her PowerPoint dludes word for word. She does not give you time to work practice problems in class. She doesn't grade HW but assigns it everyday. She acts like it a big hassle if someone actually asks a question. You end up teaching yourself. It might as well be an online class
Attendance is a must because of all of the quizzes. She gives extra credit for volunteering. She is pretty confusing in the classroom because she makes many Algebra mistakes. ALWAYS do the homework. If you understand the homework you will do well on the test and quizzes. She works really well one on one and will work around your schedule.
hard to understand accent. sometimes has trouble solving the problem herself let alone showing others how to do it
With a very strong accent and lack of explanation, it is very difficult to even pass the class with this professor. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!!
I can barely understand a word she says. Not helpful at all. If you are very good with calculus you will do fine. If not, I would recommend transferring into a different class.
You can not understand what she is trying to explain. She is good at what she does just not a good teacher.
she is very boring and makes it hard to stay awake. the only reason i did good in this class is because i took it in high school. would not recommend for those who are just starting Calculus.
Her accent is fine, it's not that bad, and I'm a bit bad at hearing. I'm good at math so maybe I'm not the average student, but if you at least do the homework and stay awake in class even the average student should pass. Quizzes and classwork assignments are freebies if you did the HW, and tests aren't that hard. Just try and you'll do fine.
DO NOT TAKE! please head my warning, test may seem easy at first but they get hard real fast. Seriously no partial credit give. You cant understand her. Tests are way different than the practice tests and 20x harder
This teacher is the first one who I actually passed Calculus with. I took AP Calculus in high school and barely got a D. I dropped the first teacher I tried at USC. With her, I not only passed with a B+ but also understood the material. The main thing is to do all the HWs she has and go to class. Otherwise you won't pass.
Get out while you can
She was literally the worst math professor I have every had. If you want to teach yourself or have already taken the class by all means take her. But if you want to learn don't take her. Seems confused and incompetent when teaching, DO NOT TAKE HER!
Most of the class was spent listening to her read from powerpoint slides. By the time we finished the slides, there was maybe enough time to go through one or two example problems. Be prepared to do a lot of studying on your own.
She has a little bit of an accent but easy to understand. Her lectures are simple and cover exactly what's on the homework, quizzes and tests. If you do the work it's an easy A.
Do NOT take her class. Math is my best subject and I struggled to understand any of the new information. Everyone in other classes got As but I barely got a B and I'm an accounting major. She does not explain how to use formulas and sometimes forgets how to do the math. Would NOT take again.
Her lectures are not very interesting and sometimes confusing a little bit. She's not very flexible with her office hours and takes a while to reply emails. I don't really feel that she's helpful much since I basically learned almost everything from the homework on Webassign and eBook (you would need those to pass this class).
If you're thinking about taking her for math 242 or 241 STOP RIGHT NOW! She was literally one of the worst professors I have ever had. The lectures were terrible she always got confused with her own work. The test were nothing like the homework or study guide. There's a lot of quizzes and random classwork so you HAVE to go to class. TERRIBLE lady.
I read the reviews on the website and decided it would be easier to power through than to switch professors. Don't be like me. I had taken calculus in high school, so most of the material was not new, but for anyone without prior calculus experience, you won't do well. Her accent is too thick & she never fixes mistakes. Good luck teaching yourself.
Probably one of the worst professors I have ever had. She hardly speaks English and does not know what she is doing. When she is "trying" to teach, she'll write problems on the board and solve them without explaining anything and asks if anyone has questions after each problem. After each problem, the whole class would look at each other confused.
She was very condescending towards the students. She asked if we understood something, we said no, and she said too bad. She's very rude and does not care about her students.
Dr. B was a fantastic math teacher. Some students found her accent difficult to understand, but I didn't. HW is optional, but very helpful. She does many examples, and gives classwork/quizzes often so that your grades are boosted. Textbook is where your HW is. Pay attention in class (lectures can be boring) and take notes and you should be good!
She's one of the most decent professors in the math department. Do ALL the homework because she pulls the same problems for the quizzes. There is random classwork so go to every lecture (which can be a little boring, but she explains things well. Just know your Algebra!) Her exams are very similar to the practice exams she puts on Blackboard
Prof B is a pretty good professor. She does have a slight accent which can be difficult to understand, but she does a good job demonstrating every thing on the board. She is a bit rude and condescending if you ask her questions or point out her errors but overall she's okay. She gives 4 tests and a ton of online homework.
Beware, if you're considering Professor B do yourself a favor and don't. She has a fairly thick accent which is hard to understand at times and occasionally when you try to explain something to her she doesn't understand due to the language barrier. Additionally if you have the correct answer on a test but she doesn't like how you did it, its wrong
I would not recommend taking her. Her accent is very strong, making it difficult to understand her lectures. She does a good job with providing example problems in class, but half the time they are nothing like the quiz problems. When you ask a question, she is condescending. There are often surprise in class assignments. Homework isn't graded.
Lectures are extremely difficult to follow. When she makes a mistake it isn't corrected even when it is pointed out. A ton of homework is assigned but it's never gone over in class or graded. During office hours she was very sarcastic and condescending when I told her I didn't understand something.
All Ms. Boguslavsky does is work practice problems the whole class without explanation. There are a lot of quizzes and classwork which are normally out of few points, so even if you get one question wrong, your grade is already terrible. In addition, there is a huge language barrier and no extra credit. I do not recommend this class at all.
Prof. B is definitely a hard teacher, and attendance is necessary for a good grade since she does move quickly. the language barrier can be rough at times, but if you listen and follow the lecture you will do fine. She was slightly condescending sometimes but one on one she is a very sweet lady. There are A LOT of homework and quizzes
Run. Do not briskly walk but literally sprint away from this lady if you see her.
Do not take this class unless you fully understand calculus and can learn math easily on your own. Classwork every week, a quiz every 1.5 weeks, and a test 3-4 weeks. She does practice problems from the board and then makes quizzes using the hardest homework problems, and changes them. Drop class early if having second thoughts.
If you have never taken calculus before, she isn't the teacher to take. She doesn't do a good job of explaining new concepts and uses examples instead of explaining. If someone doesn't understand, she just expects them to look at the examples or homework and understand. She is very quiet and her thick accent makes it hard to understand her. AVOID!!
If youve never taken calculus, avoid this teacher. Even if you have, dont take her class. She doesnt care for students, and anytime someone has a question or concern she treats the student with little respect. She doesnt teach, she just throws examples on the board and expects us to understand. She also grades unfairly and the homework sucks.
Professor Boguslavsky was okay. She has a very thick accent so it was hard to understand what she was saying sometimes but it was college algebra and she wrote on the board so it wasn't too bad. The homework wasn't that hard and the exams were pretty consistent with her lectures. She writes on the board so if you miss class you'll have to get notes
Everyone says that she is impossible to understand but this is not the case. She speaks slowly enough so that she is understood. You have homework due the morning of each class but you get multiple attempts on each question. She is a stickler for units and taking off a point for misinterpretation, but it was not super super hard.
You ever think, "how would my life change if I had made a different decision?" Had I taken a different professor for his class, I probably could have had a 4.0 GPA. Start tying your Nikes now, cuz girl you need to run. I once lost 5 points for writing "every item" instead of "each item". Run, kid, run.
Boguslavsky gets a bad rep. She is quite boring in lecture, however, going is necessary bc it's the only way to get notes. She is very concise in lecture though and will teach the easier math and build to the more difficult. Homework is on WileyPlus and offers 3 chances per Q with an online textbook reference for each Q. Just do the work and study
Calc 122 w/ Boguslavsky was a TRIP. Some days I wanted to cry, some days I felt like I was a math whiz, some days I wanted to murder someone, some days I died laughing at her hilarious misuse of idioms and misspellings of simple words. She is the world's TOUGHEST grader but you will leave her class a stronger person.
Prof. Boguslavsky could have been a kindergarten teacher instead of a college math professor and her class would still be just as accessible. She cared about you learning math. I took her class before taking MAT 520 Ordinary Differential Equations (without taking MAT 544 Linear Algebra), and she had created such a solid base that I found it easy.
First test is basic pre calc, really easy. Homework due before every class. I sat in the back and didn't pay attention often. Some say there's a language barrier but I didn't have many issues understanding. Ive heard of some pretty bad 122 teachers, Boguslavsky is not one of them. She might be hard but she knows what she's doing.
Pretty good teacher, clearly cares about her students. She will stop to answer questions. Hw due before class, but not difficult or lengthy. Quizzes/tests are from the hw and notes. Gives a review for tests that's a copy of real test. Only takes partial credit if you show work. Easy class if you take good notes, or have good background in calc
Professor Boguslavsky is a nice woman whose class is not hard. Attendance is not mandatory, but attending every class can get you points with graded classwork. I would not take her if you have never taken calculus before because some things are hard to understand with her accent. She is nice, and it is a very easy class if you have had calc before.
I thought Dr. Boguslavsky did a very good job of explaining the material in a concise manner which made the course content easier to understand. She was also clear on the types of problems that would potentially be on tests and quizzes as well as the formatting of them.
Very hard class and tests are very hard.
I had her online. Lots of hw and with 3 attempts e/ question (unlike others who allow unlimited). She posts her notes. Read those, complete homework on time, and study for quizzes & tests. Unfortunately, her notes do not completely prepare you for the material on WileyPLUS. You could find a better calc prof, especially if youre new to calculus.
She was actually a really nice and understanding teacher. Her lectures are harder to understand, but she makes it easy to learn by adding PowerPoint notes. I probably wouldnt take this class again.. because it overall was hard to understand, but I made an A and you definitely could too.
