she's got a deep spanish accent, unless you speak spanish or spanglish, you really wouln't understand
Class is hard, tests are mostly short response and essay and has questions about the most trivial things in her lectures. Memorize her powerpoints which are usually around 50+ slides. Accent is hard to understand even for a spanish speaking person like me. There is also a paper which she doesn't grade very hard but it's a pain to do.
YO Dis Professor Iz really Good. She Will work with you until you understand. She may not have the best acent but she warns you at the beginning of class. Her tests are easy, but you have to study ( not much ). If you want to learn take her.
She is extremelly helpful and her test are not difficult. She gives out study guides and reviews the class before every test. As long as you study you will do fine, (one kid in my class only showed up on test days and ended up with a B) but i have to admit her accent is pretty hard to understand.
REALLY GOOD TAECHER...KNOWS WHAT SHE IS TTEACHING AND TALKING ABOUT...GIVES GOOD EXTRA CREDIT...ALL TESTS COME FROM HER POWERPOINT..STUDY IT AND U WILL PASS....
She does not use multiple choice only in her exams but mixes it with true or false, matching, labeling, short answer and essay questions. You get credit for partially correct answers. This format is more beneficial than multiple choice only. She grades fairly.
Very knowledgeable teacher, she knows her stuff, unfortunately, she fails to pass the info on to the students as far as teaching goes. Her english is bad and her tests are written exactly how she speaks. goodluck. shes not organized at all, very easy to get confused in this class. beware.
This teacher is not clear at all with her instructions. she has horrible english. her tests are some what fair. she gives extra credit. she can't teach even if she does know her stuff. not recommended.
Very hard teacher. her english is very hard to understand. she teaches from powerpoint. she does give you extra credit to help out. You have to go to a park to complete a project. overall I wouldnt recommend her if your looking for a good teacher.
Professor Cainas, believes in the strategy of knowing everything about science and feeling as we are as knowledgeable and up to her level. Wake up Professor! I thought I was going to love her class as she seem passionate about the subject, now I never even want to see a science textbook! And its only environmental science! geeesh!
I was confused since day one and i'm apparently confused far into the semester. She is not a very good teacher as far as im concerned. She constantly tells you to use common sense, but what she considers common sense is not common sense for students trying to learn a subject. She is not organized, but she is fair with her tests. beware
She is fair and very helpful, just show up for class, take down the notes and read the book, it's all in there.
She is my kind of teacher. Her exams are a mix of short answer questions, true or false, labeling, and essays. This makes you know the material as opposed to multiple choice questions where you can guess an answer. Those who complain will not succeed in any classroom outside the U.S. You all are college students and you should act accordingly.
WORST TEACH EVER!!! DONT TAKE HER!!! SHE'S RUDE AND YOU CANT UNDERSTAND HER ACCENT. I'M SPANISH SO I THOUGHT I COULD DEAL WITH IT BUT NO SHE CAN'T PRONOUNCE MOST WORDS SO YOU'LL BE FLIPPING THROUGH THE LAB MANUEL TO FIGURE OUT WHAT SHE'S SAYING! I'D NEVER TAKE HER AGAIN
Cainas makes such an easy class seem like a web of questions. I studied hard for her tests, had to look at things into a completely different way, I have gotten good grades on her test. But is it worth all the stress and confusion in the end? No. Do not take her. Those who like her are out of their mind!
She is a very knowledgeable teacher, yet she seemed to have a heavy accent. Watch the tests because sometimes they are hard to read. Always ask her for help if you need it and don't be afraid to say you don't know. She is very interesting.
This prof knows her stuff & she lives it in her own life. Read assignments, important to use the study guides she gives. Her english can be very hard to understand sometimes. She speaks phoneticly. Ask questions if you dont understand, (interact)otherwise her class can be just a long monolog of information that makes an interesting subjest, boring.
This teacher is not hard. If biology is required for your major, then this is the class for you. Its not super hard but you will learn and have to work a little to pass the class. If your taking Bio just to fill a requirement find an easier teacher.Test's are not easy but she gives study sheets and reviews and two test are open book, open notes.
I am taking her for AP lab and I have honestly learned a lot from her. What she teaches in class sticks in my mind which is great. She does have a heavy accent but she wants people to ask her questions. She is very intelligent. If you have the passion to be in the health field, she is a great guide. I recommend her for sure.
Anatomy Lab I - hard to follow; no patience!
her class may seem hard in the beginning but i took her last semester for bsc1085 and she really does try to get you to pass n helps you out a lot. her accent is very strong but shes helpful and if she sees you try then she'll help you
She did come off as intimidating at first, but I truly believes she wants you to do well! She loosened up once she got to know us. Also her tests are FAIR and she does give extra credit to help boost your average! Just took her this winter for lab and really wished I had her for my lecture since I took the stupid on-line course!
I took Dr. Cainas for Anatomy 1 lab and she was good to me. yes her accent is deep, but she didn't mind you asking for clarification. She is not an easy teacher, but she will teach you. If you want easy don't take her, but if you want a challenge and want to retain, take her. She keeps you on your toes. A quiz every class meeting. Hard but doable.
She is a very good Prof. All of her tests are written, no multiple choice. You can succeed in this class if you pay attention to the tests reviews. She will want you to do a long photo essay. It is a long assignment, but not hard at all.
Dr. Cainas is AWESOME! Just remember FOCUS! Her lab is a blast and you will learn a lot from her. Her quizzes are all written so it makes you study but believe me it's worth it. She is very helpful and totally knows her stuff! Great class and a lot of fun
Her class was great! Glad I picked her. Follow her notes and you will do great. She gives extra credit too!! Dont worry about an accent. If you live in South Florida...it is nothing, hardly noticed it.
took her for lab, I loved her.. very helpful, and has much info to inpart to you if your willing to be open to it.. I would take her again in a heartbeat.
Dr.C I think is an example of a good professor. She is very knowledgeable in this subject. Her accent is really not a problem you just got to make sure you pay attention. Attendance is only mandatory if you don't want to miss any vital information. Remember to follow or lab package and you will do fine!!
Excellent, engaging class leader. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. Make use of her slides and especially the study guides!
she's a terrible professor who does not speak on the topic at hand. she gives loads of useless information, no of which pertain to her tests. her exam format is all essays. she does not give you all the notes you need
Honestly she gives a lot of tests, this is suppose to be any easy class if your taking EVR but her test is mostly written with little mutiple choice, she's talks to much and the class is long and boring, If you want to pass, you must study really hard to pass her tests. If you want an interesting fun teacher, She's not the one to take. Sorry!!!
she gives u study guides and the notes. just copy it, she even tells u to do so! great lady very helpful. the ecoproject is easier than it sounds. tests are based exactly on the study guide, & she gives you the notes if u cant keep up in class
I had her for Anatomy & Physics Lab and she was an ok teacher. Her quizzes were a bit hard for me because the words we had to learn where in another language besides that she was ok. Not the best teacher but not the worst either. It's not an easy class you do have to study on your own but it's anatomy if you think its going to be easy your an idiot
A&P1085 Lab- quiz every day before class. No multiple choise questions. You have to be able to memoerize all the terms. She is fair. Nice lady. Prepares you well for the practical.
This was a tough course, but she teaches it well. I have a problem with thick accents, but she was fine. You can ask her to repeat herself, she won't mind. Just stay ontop of everything from the very beginning! No procrastinating! She has a quiz every lab on the material last covered. NO multiple choice. Prepares you well for the mid term and final
BS teacher. She;'s nice but not easy. She grades on tests and nothing else. No extra credit chances or anything. Don't take her in summer. TOO MUCH INFO. She gave me a D.
Taking her now for summer. She does have an accent but it's okay. You can understand her and she has a good sense of humor. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities which is great! her exams are 90% multiple choice and the other 10 % is an essay/or diagram. SHE KNOWS HER STUFF AND SHE TEACHES!!!!!
She is not a bad teacher im a procrasinator and i got a B. her quizzes are easy just study. she gives extra credit. practical is hard so study. thick accent yes but understandable.
Hard to find her at office.
AWESOME teacher. She knows what she is talking about and is very helpful. I was not doing good in my BSC class that I was taking with another teacher, she took the time out to help me with the class. there are fill in the blank quiz every class you have to study for them but she gives you everything you need to know to help you pass them.
Anatomy I is difficult, but Cainas makes it a lot easier to understand. Her weekly quizzes are all fill-in-the-blank, but she tells you exactly what you need to study. Overall, she's one of the best lab teachers I've had.
When asked questions she's rude. She has no compassion for teaching or students. She's horrible don't take her!!
Wonderful! Gives plenty of extra credit and even more if she sees the class is having trouble. Very big on hands on with her field trips you learn a lot. Test are not too difficult, if you study you're good, especially since all her tests have an opportunity for extra credit.
One of the best teachers, I took her for lab and lecture and i don't regret it at all. If you don't like to study, then this is not your teacher. Be prepared to study everyday and you'll do great . Very helpful and nice lady.
Professor Cainas is a warm and approachable professor. She enjoys what she does. Lots of extra credit in this class. Study guides provided. You will enjoy this class. Take her.
Great Professor. The key to an A in her class is to print out her study guide for each exam and make flashcards out of the study guide after filling in the missing information. Hard work but a guaranteed A!
Here's the 411, worst professor her lecture was all over the place her accent was so thick it was hard to understand, you had to chase her for an office appt.,said follow the syllabus, although she didn't.When you did get appt. she told you all the things she had to accomplish & do. She has selective treatment for students.
Personally I really like this professor, I read some of the comments here and they are very unfair. If you want to learn TAKE HER!! yes you do have to study a lot but isn't that why you are in school for? I recommend her I've taken her for 4 classes and I done Very well in all of them :)
Took her during the summer. People that complain about her accent are the ones that doodle on their notebooks in class and then complain. Its not bad. Mostly fill in the blank and short responses but she is INCREDIBLY helpful and gives a good amount of extra credit. One of the best science profs Ive taken at BC.
I thought she was extremely tough. Took her for summer and it was impossible for me to pass. Most students who passed struggled maintaining a "C". I dropped the class. She gives alot of information and you really do not know what is going to be on the test so you study everything. Really smart, she is a pediarician ,would not take her again. Ever.
as a physician she is tough and thorough. she expects you to know so you are the best at what you want to be. exams are hard, they are challenging. memorize and understand its all physiology you will do fine. if you want to be challenged, this is your class. she was too hard for me. great lady, very good teacher, just tough.
Horrible, if you want to have stress for no reason take her class
She's a good teacher the only thing I hated was that she required students to write 4 paragraphs on each exam and she doesn't even give you a clue about what we are going to write about on the exam so students can get a chance to review certain sections a little more. Other than that she's pretty good.
Easy Course, anyone that takes EVR1009 will be suprised because some of the stuff is actually cool and interesting to learn, I enjoyed her class. Her class is easy if you pay attention in classs and take notes. The eco project at the end was cake. EZ PZ course In my opinon
You can get a B if you show up for class, because she just reads from PowerPoint in class, but if you want the A you need to do the reading. Get as much extra credit as you can if you want the A. There's a lot of it. This is her favorite class and she's passionate about the subject. Project sounds hard but is easy. Speaks good English but accented.
Nice teacher-a lot of material to cover in such a short time- Be ready to work hard and grow as a college student! Very helpful when you need help. Got a C on my 2nd attempt in this course! This class has helped me mature in my study skills!
Had her for lab. She is great! It is a lot of work, but study hard and you will pass. Give's easy quizzes at the beginning of each class with info from the previous class. She is helpful if you have questions, and is very clear as far as what you need to know. You will not pass if you don't study and memorize your stuff....Don't blame the teacher.
Her class is pretty easy. She gives you a study guide for each test. There's no way you can get less then a C if you study. Dr. Cainas is also very understanding. If you have any issues, she always works with you.
First thing, she has a strong accent. She is hispanic but you can very much understand her. Multiple-choice exams (4 total of up to 45 questions) and quizzes (4 total with only 15 questions). Her exams are not hard; always an essay question but also a bonus essay question in exam only. Study hard and she is super helpful 2 u. Show interest.
Overall, she's an easy professor to take for this class. Do your textbook reading, MAKE SURE you keep up with the study guides and you'll do fine. Her weaknesses: All she does is lecture, which gave me absolutely no motivation to go to class and she gives WAY more info than you need to know for tests.
She's an okay teacher with an accent but understandable. She gives a lot of extra credit for the tests. I'd go from an 80 to a 90. Her eco project isn't hard, just time consuming but pretty easy. Tests are tricky but multiple choice. You have to think about the question and apply what you studied.
She is one of the best professors I have had at bc. I only had her for lab, but she made it so easy to keep up with all the material, you never had to guess what was on tests and quizzes. If you take the time to study getting an A is cake in this class.
I had her for lab,got an A. Puts bonus questions on quizzes and lab practicals that help. Not hard to understand. She writes down everything needed to know for the next week's quiz. There is no guesswork! As long as you study you'll do fine. I heard a lot of complaints, but its because they were not studying enough and not happy w their grades.
I took her lecture over the summer. She lectures the entire class (no break), but she does let you out about 20-30 minutes early. There were only 4 exams. Each contained about 35-45 multiple choice questions, choose 1 out of the 5 essays to write about, and 2-3 bonus questions. Just STUDY, STUDY, STUDY I can't stress this enough!! I recommend her.
She's pretty nice and the class was easy over all. Either takes note or read the chapters though. The tests are pretty thorough.
project she gave was easy. Test are annoying and you have to STUDY a lot. If you have a job or people to take care of and don't have time to just stare at your book. notes and videos online find another teacher. Tests are from chapters all over the place
Your grade is determined through 4 tests (that's it). There is no midterm or final. There were also 4 extra credit worksheets that go towards the test (each no more than 5 points). If you can study your ass off with two chapter per exam, then this is the class for you. She can very much teach, but her lectures put me to sleep. -Summer Student
took her for anatomy lab and got a B. I couldve have gotten an A if i put 100% effort. Quizes every class, gives extra credit. Pretty straight forward, just stud and youll be fine.
Its obvious she's knowledgeable on the subject, but she very cold and isn't very helpful. The grade is determined based of 5 exams. Kind of a do or die. She teaches through dry powerpoints. She have no type of personality. You should be able to pass the class with a C if your willingly to teach yourself. By far the worst class ive taken.
I took her for lab, she has no personality and her humor is very dry when she does make a joke. Its best to read your lab manual right before class, for her quizzes, midterm, and final she does follow closely with the review list in the back of each section. Overall, its not an easy class but if you really study you should be able to leave with a C
She is tough and gives hard exams every other week with a lot of information to take in. The exams are your entire grade and the power points are boring. If you have a busy schedule do not take her class she is tough and does not answer e-mails.
6 tests, 1 project. Tests will have info from powerpoint, textbook, and extra credit assignments. Study guide has too much info, you won't know what exactly is on test.It has multiple choice, bonus questions, and essay. Must go to national park for project. A lot of work, not recommended for student who are busy (heavy classes, work, kids, etc)
Horrible! Worst grade I ever received in college. The review is nothing like the exam EVER!
In the beginning I was very concerned that I wouldnt pass her class. I had her for lab and lecture and her lectures were very boring. She reads straight off her power points. But she always gives you a test review and she always gives you extra credit. I enjoyed her in the lab. I passed both classes with a B. Just study youll do great!!
Great professor, all assignments are crystal clear, read the text book!! Complete the tests, including the essay, and extra credit... You will learn, not just pass !!
Absolute worst professor I have EVER taken in college. She thinks all the students in the class are biology majors, gave the class 1 study guide that didn't even help with the test, no review for final. only gave one study guide the whole semester. very rude. Honestly learned nothing. If biology is your major then take her, if not stay away.
Great professor. This stuff is hard so don't expect to pass if you don't study. Lots of memorization. She was a pediatrician and really knows her stuff. She makes sure you understand. Has an accent but doesn't mind repeating. Gives you study guides on what to study. Multiple choice tests and extra credit for every test.
I am so sorry I took this class in 6 weeks. If you are taking a hard class be sure to look for a professor with a good personality, and one who is willing to help and does not make you feel stupid when you ask questions. Study guides not helpful and is the same topics from the book, all of them. You will never know what is coming on the test.
Professor Cainas is an decent professor. This is Anatomy so it is not bound to be easy. But she does make it possible to pass. The key to passing this class is doing well on all of the daily quizes! After that there is no way to fail! TRUST ME, I LEARNED THE HARD WAY. Do that and you will be fine. She isnt big on spelling.
She has a strong accent! Her class is based on a quiz every week and a midterm and final. Study. Study. Study!! If I would have studied more it would have been easier. Also, we used a lab manual. That's where all the info is found.
If you could choose another teacher, do so! Strong accent, study guides are pages long. Test not easy at all no matter how much you study. Project at end of semester. Treats you like you are children in high school with a dress code and absolutely no phones out. The rules didn't effect me, but c'mon we are all adults! I would NEVER take her again!
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND DIFFICULT. very strong accent, always in a BAD MOOD. Treats her students as if they are 5 year olds. Gives out 5 test which include an essay from a random topic in the chapters. The tests and the book do not go hand in hand. FIRST GRADE LOWER THAN AN "C" EVER GOTTEN. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU WANT TO PASS.
IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE DO NOT TAKE HER!!! Tests include an essay of a topic she does not tell you to study. Strong accent, rude, bad mood. Her study guides are up to 5 pages long and have nothing to do with the test. FIRST BAD GRADE IN BROWARD COLLEGE. I regret taking her.
She was a strict teacher, she had her moody side, but she was fair. She tells you what's on the next test or quiz for lab and class. She des have an accent but I understood her just fine. If you are willing to study, you can easily pass the class and/or lab.
don't take her
I didn't want to take her b/c the comments but I had no choice. I had her for lab and ended up with a C. There's a quiz every week on more then 1 chapter. Quizzes aren't hard if you study the from the lab practical list like she says. Midterm was very hard, know your tissues like the back of your hand! Final wasn't too bad but you MUST STUDY!
Because of this teachers comments I'm skeptical about RMP. I got put into her lab last pick. When i got to her class yes she was strict and had an accent but she was very clear on what she expected and how she was going to teach. If you need help go to her office she was there. Some people are just lazy and don't want to put the time in. LOVED HER
I received an A in the class, so it is possible. But, you DO have to study and read the text. It is not easy material and you must put in your own time.
Don't take class if you skip. Regardless of grades she threatens dropping you. Don't miss an exam. Power points/study guides on D2L. Ex credit: field activities & each exam (except final). Thick Spanish accent, writes the way she speaks. Swears by the syllabus, but doesn't follow the limitations she's set. Final grade calculations are ... creative.
Outstanding. Will be taking her again. M.D., extremely knowledgeable, intersperses real-life practical examples to keep things interesting. Slight Spanish accent but easy to understand, especially if you follow her advice and pretend you're listening to Penelope Cruz talk. Serious and to-the-point but does keep the lecture fun.
Didn't understand her teaching style. Doesn't keep your attention when teaching the class. Very boring teaching style. Hated her class. Can be very rude!!
Not a recommendation. Horrible accent. speaks fast. Doesnt remeber anything she says. She is boring. Never take her especially for a summer course. Worst experience ever.
No interest in biology but she is very good at explaining the material even with her accent. Always stays after class to answer questions, class starts 30min later on exam days for more time for questions. Four exams but plenty of extra credit points offered by coming to class. Honestly just learned a lot from her repetition in class.
It's not an easy class but she is a very good professor. Strict but, you will learn a lot. Exams are hard, multiple choice and essay. There is a project where you pick a nature park (like the everglades-you can go as a class). You have to work hard to get an A. Very rewarding. I recommend her. Her accent shouldn't be an issue. Open your ears.
She has clear lectures and takes the time to explain everything. Some homework and a quiz before every test. She accepts extra credit so do it if you're struggling. Overall a great class.
Great professor. She lectures well and adds her own sense of humor into it. Essay on every test but it is completely manageable. Not much homework but its necessary to read the text. Would recommend to anyone if your up for the challenge!
I never read the book or studied for this class and got an easy B. As long as you do the extra credit your good. Work on her project ahead of time, and come to class, but other than that her class was very easy!
Worse teacher in my whole life!!! Doesn't help at all, doesn't care about student success. Tests are hard and the study guide doesn't help at all. Dry sense of humor. Class is VERY boring. Always sarcastic and doesn't like when you ask questions.
Looking around the room you notice that everyone is falling asleep or looks glazed over. She says she wants everyone to learn but gets annoyed when we ask questions because we do not understand. She forgets that not everyone is a pro at the subject. That's why we are in school after all. To learn. Prepare to teach yourself. AWFUL PROFESSOR.
Very picky with grading, always in a bad mood, and does NOT care at all if you are struggling. She has the attitude of "not my problem." She gives extra credit but the amount of points awarded is almost non-existent. She has her PhD and is highly educated but it hurts you because she expects PhD performance on her exams.
Had her for Anatomy 1 Lab, read the prelab before you come to class so youre not lost, copy EVERYTHING on the board(that's what will be on the quiz the next class) bonus questions on each quiz, class is simply MEMORIZATION, not much for her t teach, GREAT teacher, just STUDY
Her tests are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to pass. Her extra credit barley helps you and she always seems too bothered to help you, I literally lost sleep, called out to work, just in order to study. I failed. And I am not saying all of this just bc of my grade, but she is a TOUGH grader and bc she is so knowledgable in this class, she expects the same fromU
Dr. Cainas is a good professor. Her class is tough but she won't let you fail. Even if you don't do well on the exams she will still pass you. I failed 2 exams and she still passed me after I met with her and did a one-on-one exam with her. She knows the topic is tough and tries her best to help you.
She is a great professor, very challenging, but will prepare you for your future healthcare field! She knows her stuff. May seem intimating and non approachable but she is truly a geniune person. She's strict but she has to be. When we join the healthcare field we can't be messing around and malpracticing, its people's lives were taking care of.
LOVE Dr. Cainas The subject is hard, not her. if u are looking for an easy A u are in the wrong course NOT the wrong professor. This is college people. Shes caring, funny and knowledgable. She is available by email or visit her office. I've gotten A in both A&P I and II with the labs while taking other classes and having a child. u get what u put in
The problem with Dr. Cainas is that she expects her students to be experts in whatever she is teaching. She knows A LOT so she expects you to leave her class knowing absolutely everything. ENV1009 is supposed to be an easy class, but not with her. You have to study A LOT to get an A in his class. There is also a final project and a field trip.
Professor Cainas was the BEST professor I've had. She is very clear with what will be on her quizzes and tests. You guys need to remember, this is a lab class, not lecture so her job is not to lecture you on everything. Just study for each quiz like it is the most important test of your life and then you'll do fine on her exams. BEST LAB PROFESSOR!
Im surprised she has a B rating. I would rate her a C- Rude, unclear, good luck!
Quizzes are tough but she tells you whats going to be on each test. Make sure to read the lab manual chapters before each class, it really helps. She is willing to help you when you don't understand something. Lets you make up one lab if you miss it. Overall great teacher.
She was a tough professor, but honestly if you study hard you'll pass. She doesn't assign homework but there's a quiz every lecture. She's specific about what's on the quizzes and each one has 2-3 extra credit questions. Mid-term and Final are hard. I got A's on all my quizzes and C's on my two exams, ended up with a B. (Her accent isn't that bad)
she gives a quiz at the beginning of every lab on the previous lab and they aren't hard just have to read and put your all into it. she is very clear on what will bee coming on the exam.
All she does is read the powerpoint that are already uploaded on D2L. Class is really boring and not interesting. She gives so much that i do not remember once thing. If you want to listen to someone reading slides you can take her class. She thinks everyone is going to be environmentalist. No interaction between student and her. Anyways, Good Luck
If you want to have a C in your report, and bring your GPA down, Take her class. She is really boring and the class is super quite and the only person talking is her. She read slides only. Most people take EVR because they need it to graduate. So much unnecessary informations.
I do not know why i took her class. I have never been so bored in a class. Take her is you are ready to be lectured about everything, The information is not narrow but her test are so narrowed down that you don't know what to do. Lectures are boring and she is the only talking. Take her class and you will have the best semester of your life NOT.
She is terrible. She doesn't care if you pass or fail
All she does is lecture the whole time and reads off of her powerpoints. She gives you a lot of information to memorize each class so it was very overwhelming. Her exams are quite difficult and she barely gives a proper "review" before the testing day.
Her accent is extremely thick, definitely does not care whether you learn the material or not. All of the comments that are not so good, pleaseeeee believe it. The only thing i regretted was not going on this website to view her ratings. Horrible professor, and if my only option was to take her, i will definitely transfer to a university. Seriously
she's a nice teacher, but accent it thick, she expects you not only know EVERYTHING she says, but you also need to be able to apply it. She does give extra credit which helps your test grade. I wouldn't recommend this class unless you have time on your hands to study.
If you do not study the details of every chapter you will not pass. She doesn't give reviews before the tests and the questions are strange and hard. DO NOT TAKE HERIF YOU WANT TO PASS
This is a really tough teacher. I do NOT recommend her as a teacher. Strong accent and she denies that her accent is a language barrier when it is. Quiz every class and a tough grader. If you don't have an A in her class she tells you that you are walking on egg shells. She expects you to know EVERYTHING and not really helpful.
This teacher is hands-down the rudest professor ever. One word response emails, absolutely not helpful, does not care if you pass or not. I just finished up her class and ended with a B. There was only one A in the class. Halfway through the semester everyone drops her. She will screw you with deducting lab points for useless stuff. Stay away!!
When I say she's horrible. I mean her tests don't match anything she says on her powerpoints. It's those questions that are "theory" rather than definitions as a bio test should be. Her test are 50 multiple choice, 5 short and FOUR PARAGRAPH ESSAY. and she can't teach she just can't. Take someone else I promise you.
At first I wanted to drop this class so bad. But man, she is GREAT! She gives us a study guide and EVERYTHING on that study guide is ON THE TEST!!! She gives us lots of extra credit, she listens to you, and she understands if you need to miss class or a test, just don't slack off and participate and you will get nothing less than a B. LOVE HER.
I haven't been in college in about 4 years and this was the first course I chose to take after a long gap. I received one of the highest grades in my lab class with this professor. She is not easy and she will scare you into knowing your stuff. If you are serious and know what you are talking about she will give you an A. You have got to study!
Dr. C is not a bad teacher, it has just been too long since she had to learn something. She is too vague when it comes to what to study. I understand that this is college and we need to learn something, but There is a ton of information in Anatomy and physiology 1. Her study guides (if she gives you one) are basically the indexes for the chapter.
5 test 50 points for a lot of homework it's like 8% of the grade no extra credit she makes you study more than you need
Took her six week summer class it Gen. Biology class it wasn't hard got C's or better on the four test ended the class with 78%/C just be prepared to read because she doesn't give outlines for test and with some many different things that could possibly be covered you just have to make sure your prepared. Lectures are good and full of info.
I don't understand these reviews so I'll say it depends on the student, these reviews almost made me not take her but I'm glad I did. She is an awesome professor, very funny but about business. She gives you everything you need for test and tells you exactly what will be on there. Come to class, do learn smarts and pay attention. You will do great!
This professor is tough but Anatomy 1 Lab isnt an easy class at all. This professor is clear on what you need to learn in class to fully prepare for the quizzes that are at the beginning of each class. She is very very clear and super helpful. She may seem intimidating but she is very sweet and works well with her students
Taking her means you teach yourself and you must prepare to be stressed out due to her tests. The material on the tests is a surprise as far as the essays go. There is no way to prepare because you have no idea what chapter it's coming from. She is rude and inconsiderate. Simply does not care about students. No clue why she teaches. RUN FAST!
OMG ! you literally teach yourself. She gives an excessive amount to study. She'll tell you to study two chapters for a weekly quiz. When you take the quiz she gives you something totally different. She tells you what to study and literally gives you like two questions out of that. She makes you study so much for nothing. She's rude as well.
Omg! Horrible rude person!! Should not be teaching! Explains nothing!! Run do not take her!! She likes to give F's and doc points!
THIS LADY IS THE WORST! SHE'S SUPER RUDE AND LITERALLY DOES NOT TEACH. SHE TELLS YOU TO STUDY 2-3 CHAPTERS FOR A WEEKLY QUIZ AND WHEN YOU TAKE THE QUIZ BARELY NOTHING OF WHAT SHE TOLD YOU TO STUDY IS ON THERE. SHE EXPECTS YOU TO HAVE AN A IN CLASS. GIVES AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF READING MATERIAL. THINKS YOU'RE IN FOR PRE MED OR SOMETHING .... RUNNNNN
Worst teacher ever. I should of never taken it but I had no choice. Please beware of this professor.
Beware!!!!!! Rude professor!! Teaches nothing!!!! Do not take her in any classs!!#
Do not take this professor; I will not take her again! She is so rude & does not care if you pass or fail.
This professor is a very tough grader, does not give too many chances to get a good grade, rude and give really bad lectures. Her teaching style is for nursing student that's come back for bachelors, and most of her lectures is more focused on nursing student but if don't have a lot more knowledge already you're going to struggle. She don't care.
i had this professor for AP1 Lab and i though she was tough but she does provide ALL the learning resources there are to offer. Now that i'm in AP2 lab and my new professor is the ABSOLUTE WORSE!! I would give anything to have professor Cainas as my AP2 lab teacher. Professor Cainas is the head of the AP dept. if im not mistaken, TAKE HER CLASS!!!
I absolutely loved this teacher. Previous comments are not accurate the course itself is very difficult and includes a lot of information. She really tries to help her students giving extra credit in every quiz and trying to see how many points you need to get your desired grade. You need to study and if you listen to all her advice you will pass!
Dr. C is very caring and encouraging. She is serious about you learning and will tell you how to pass her class with an "A" from day one...**listen to her!!!** The power points on line and the tutoring lab should be your best friends... ((PAY ATTENTION))
I loved Professor Cainas and this class! She gives extra credit every unit + some random ones throughout the semester. We had 6 tests + 1 ecoproject. She gives a study guide for every test, which she either goes over or you can find the answers directly in the powerpoints. As long as you study and come to class, you'll pass this class.
This was my first BC class and she gave me a really good first impression. She would literally tell you what to study for the test, the lectures weren't boring, and there are bonus questions on the test. She also tells you how to write the essays, and overall she is very laid-back and nice.
This Professor is amazing, she is so caring, well knowledgeable. Weekly quizes which gives you an opportunity to keep your grade up. She tells you exactly what to study for. Listen to here and you will do great. I finished up with an A+++.
The comments about her being rude and not caring if you pass or fail are simply not true! She gives extra credit on nearly every quiz and tells you exactly what you need to study. Before the final and midterm she even tells you how many points you need to maintain your grade. The class is hard but it is up to you to study!! I recommend taking her!
Do the study guides for the tests, don't procrastinate on the eco-project and come to class. Professor Cainas really wants students to do well in class, but don't expect a free pass. If you do the work, you'll get a good grade.
AWFUL! she gives you 3 chapters to study in ONE WEEK! Does not tell you what exactly you need to study . So you're basically studying and hoping she gives what you've managed to learn. This class is basically self-taught! all she does is give lab and gives you the chapters to study for next week's quiz! She does not give extra credit. Not recommend
Taking her class is difficult. The assignments she gives us are exams and a ecoproject. Studying for each exam is too much information to memorize. Her teaching is incompetent and she should at least give her student homework and give them two exams: one for the midterm and the other for the final.
I read the negative comments and I'm glad I still took this Professor. She is amazing. She tells you exactly what to study for test. She is funny and truly helps you. You HAVE to study. She isn't an easy A, but if you study it won't be a hard A either. I recommend anyone who is serious about learning to take her!
This professor is so horrible. Do not take her!! She is very rude and disrespectful. She basically makes the test for you to fail it. The tests are really hard.
Professor Cainas is an amazing teacher! All the information you need for quizzes and practicals are in the lab manual, you get extra credit questions on them, and she writes on the board exactly what you need to study! Anatomy is a hard class so don't expect an easy A, study hard and know your material and you will pass I made a 98.5%
Dr. Cainas is a wonderful professor! She is tough and makes you work for a good grade; but her expectations are clear, she is honest, and she genuinely cares about teaching. She tells it like it is and gives honest feedback about your grade so you know where you stand. Work hard, show up to class, READ the lab manual and you'll do well!
This is a science class. It's definitely not easy no matter who u take as a professor. She was pretty strict and has a heavy accent (not sure where she's from). She knows her stuff though, I'll tell you that much. Study hard and you'll do fine. I had to drop the class though because I fell behind and started doing terrible in her class.
I took Dr. Cainas' A&P 1 lab and A&P 2 lecture. Has experience with international medicine (especially from Cuba). There really are no shortcuts to doing well in her classes. Her exams are integrated between her lectures and the lab exercises. Do as she says throughout the semester, and you'll be fine. She gives study guides to help students out.
By far, one of the best Professors I have ever had! I took BSC2085L and BSC2086 with Dr. C. THIS ARE NOT EASY CLASSES! and that's not because she makes them more difficult, but because you are learning material that is difficult in itself. Nursing, Med, PA school are all very difficult programs that Dr. C knows how to prepare you for.
Excellent professor.
this was the hardest class I've ever taken and I'm currently taking her at the moment. you will have a quiz every week, and there is no multiple choice which I find RIDICULOUS. Its almost as if she wants you to fail. nice lady, terrible professor.
I promise you she isnt hard at all! If you just pay attention its a guaranteed A! I hate science but she explains things very clearly and does a review the day before each test and tells you EVERYTHING on the test!! Easy A!
I took her for BSC2085 and she is very old-fashioned and strict. We are required to study from the book (book is a must). The tests are so hard, I studied non-stop and still never managed to get over a C. There is 5 exams that are 50 multiple choice and 4 written responses. Only extra credit opportunity is "Connect". I wouldn't recommend her.
Read each chapter BEFORE class & jot down any questions to ask during the lecture. Test format: Multiple choice on vocabulary & short answers on physiology. It's not an easy glass (in general) so be prepared to put in the work. She will let you know what will be on the test & she gives extra credit opportunities!
She tells us what to study and whats going to be on the test. Expect to read and study A LOT. 5 tests were our only grades. I studied for hours and managed to pull off a B but I took this class in a shortened semester. Very smart lady who made real life connections. If you want to learn, take her class. If you're lazy, don't bother.
She hardly gives any homework; the grades are tests, extra credit, discussions on D2L, field trip, EcoProject. Take notes and you will be fine. Her tests are hard because its not very clear what shes asking, but she does answer questions during tests if the question is unclear. Beware of RBF. At the end of the day, she cares about the students.
Amazing lab professor. I was so scared to take her class from all the reviews here, but she's honestly not bad at all. She is very old school, but as long as you read ahead and study hard you'll be fine. I'm not the best student, but a little hard never hurt anyone. Make sure you're always prepared and you study!
She is a good teacher I could see, but I couldn't handle the class... I am forigner student and I need clear English, so it was hard for me to catch up on the information, expacially BIO... I had to withdraw from the class. Also, if you like me do not take this class in 8 weeks. Impossible.
do yourself a favor and run she reads off PowerPoints thats you can read yourself in d2l and thats all you learn test are long and kinda hard because she gives no direct study guide and test are all your gradesd on and only extra credit is connect. She had a bad attitude aswell find another professor this one will ruin GPA
She is amazing! Just take thorough notes and she basically tells you what is on the test during notes. So don't skip class. Do all the extra credit like watch videos and post discussions cuz it counts towards the test. Ecoproject is fun and you can ask her for help and she will help you out. She has STUDY GUIDE so FOLLOW THE STUDY GUIDE!!
This class is so dry. If you are a really smart person and you can manage on your own go for it. If you will need extra credit stuff and anything additional you will not get it. I should have taken another professor who gives extra credit work because it can be the difference between a pass or fail. I would not recommend this professor.
Dr. Cainas is a great professor. I took this class over the summer and easily passed with an A. She lectures using a powerpoint that is not posted but you really don't need. All you need is to outline the textbook and listen to her key reminders. She gives real life info and ways to study certain topics.
Anatomy is a hard class so you HAVE to study hard. You need the book for this class. Overall pretty great and fair professor, wish I could take again.
She is fantastic! If you want to learn, I highly suggest taking class with her. She is far from easy but f you study, you are perfectly okay. Pay attention to what she writes on the board for exams. What she says will be on the exam IS on the exam to an exact. I loved her class. Again, far from easy but you will leave the semester with knowledge.
If she was teaching a&p lab 2 next semester I would definitely take her! The material is hard, its not her. This is not an easy course but she will help you!! You need the lab book and your lab coat! quiz every class, she tells you what is on them and offers bonus questions! the midterm and final are the same for any professor for lab. take her!!
The material itself is not easy. With that being said, she's all about tough love and that's because she wants you to pass. She tells you exactly what to study for when it comes to quizzes and offers extra credit on them. Always bring your lab book and your lab coat, otherwise, she will not let you in. Study and you will pass.
I would 100% recommend this professor. She is tough, but she gives you exactly what you need to pass. If you study what she tells you and put the time and effort, you will pass. You need the textbook and lab coat every class, she won't let you in without it. There is also a quiz every class.
Professor Cainas is very knowledgable and is a straight shooter. Don't take this class if you want an easy way out, but if you want to learn, I highly recommend it. She encourages discussion and is very clear about the grading criteria. Do the online HW and you get 15 points towards your Final grade. Attendance is mandatory and be prepared to read.
If you are dedicated to studying and want a very straight forward professor, this is the one for you. There is a LOT of material covered in a weeks period (sometimes up to 4 chapters) and a quiz each week. However, you will always know what to expect on her quizzes and throughout the semester she updates you on your grade.
Awesome teacher. The test arent that bad. She uses a point based system. She the best teach honestly.
This professor relies heavily on the textbook and basically skips through the power points during class . she makes you remember unnecessary things that should be taught at masters level. will offer help but still makes test very hard !!!!!!
This class was such a waste of time and money! She cant explain well and shes rude and disrespectful. Please DO NOT take this teacher!
Horrible teacher. She swears she cares about her students but doesnt. Do not take this class, even if its your ONLY LAST option, just wait for another professor to open up. she has QUIZZES WITH NO WORD BANK.. , and everything she puts on the test, she does not go over. RUN !!!
Im a A student , this was my last class before graduation and I have to take it again because this professor is the worst professor that I have ever seen. She doesnt care about the students , My advice is do not take this class. will be a waste of time.
Anatomy I is a challenging class to begin with due to all of the memorization. She definitely does not let you slack off. Of course, there are quizzes every week but each one has a couple extra credit questions which are very helpful. She makes you do lab skills questions DURING the lab to check your understanding.
dont take this professor. she told me that ill never thrive in the medical field. i switched out and got an A with another prof... run for your life
She has got to be the worst teacher ive had in college thus far. She does not aid her students in any way possible nor does she care. One thing I did like about her was her ability to know every subject on the top her head, she just doesnt explain things well at all .
Great professor! You learn a lot if you pay attention and study hard. 10 quizzes, midterm (60 questions) and final (60 questions). Fill-in-the-blank. No multiple choice. She is tough, but once you study you'll get the hang of it. The Midterm exam is the hardest. She grades on spelling as well.
Shes not mean whatsoever but is she stern and expects you to take her class seriously which you should. I took her for lab and lab is just very hard itself. Quizzes every class on whatever you learned the class before. Lab is composed of only Midterm and final and she tells you EXACTLY what you need to know you just HAVE TO STUDY ITS ALOT OF INFO
Great professor! Definitely wants her students to pass & will be straight up with you. I did not like that she tells you what you got on a quiz during class because I like to keep that stuff private but overall good professor. One Pro is she tells you what will be on the quiz for next class and she is very organized with her lectures!
You cannot pass her class if you don't memorize EVERYTHING listed in the textbook/manual. This class is hard, there's A LOT of memorization and quizzes every week. She doesn't explain much, but reviews the powerpoints. She's okay, but she doesn't really teach per say, this class is more about memorization than understanding.
Her accent is understandable! She is nice, but the material is hard, so study! She cares for her students, you can tell.
Her expectations of her students are unrealistically high. Exams are fill in the blank, & 0 multiple choice. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if she didn't make you study 3-5 chapters in a week, & expect you to remember EVERY detail. Seriously, it's a beginner's class, 98% of the students in the class are JUST there to get their required credit..
She is very easy. She provide so many reviews and extra credit on her test. She really wants her student to pass and learn the information. When i was in her class i was like ahh but now i realize she was actually great with her lecture. I never pay attention in science class until hers. I learn a lot and pass.
Dr. Cainas is very knowledgeable but struggles to get her point across clearly. The workload is very difficult. Test are fill-in-the-blank, NO MULTIPLE CHOICE. She grades spelling and marks answers incorrect if theyre spelled wrong. Doesnt accept late assignments. Locks you out if youre 0.2 seconds late to class. Grading is UNCLEAR. English bad.
currently taking her class through D2L and I know I'm going to get an A Her class is very in-depth and I had to work for it. I learned alot but it mostly from the reading. She provides the ppts for lecture and labs and it helps to study from them but just know be prepared to read. EC is provided in Qs on tests and some textbook Qs from Connect
do not recommend at ALL. teaching is all over the place and does not accommodate students needs. very rude at times and grades horribly. tests and quizzes are on content we dont even learn in the powerpoints or lectures. PLEASE do not take her, find another prof!!
She's extremely rude to her students. She gets exasperated when students ask questions. Chose a different section of this class. Her accent is thick as well, and it's sometimes hard to understand her, especially when she uses the wrong words when she writes.
I thought she couldn't be as bad as the reviews claim her to be but she is. For the midterm she gave us 60 min for 60 questions with A LOT to learn. Neither did we get any specifications of what to learn except being told to learn the practical exam of every chapter. Her quizzes are also 10 min for 10 questions. Worst experience I've ever had!
STAY AWAY. Elena Cainas is the worst professor I have ever taken. She accused me of discussing cheating with a classmate when it was someone else and dropped me from the class after the semester. all my $ went down the drain. This is a very hard lab. find someone better or you'll be lost
worse prof ever. Stay away from her
worse prof ever stay away from her.
rude and mean and never help student, she wants juts to give her student a hard time and never offer help. she has a bad attitude so better get away from her class.
Anatomy in general is tough so get ready to work for your grade. If you take the time to really study and learn everything, you should be fine but do not take it as just another credit.
Absolutely awful, does not care about students, very unorganized from D2l to materials on exams, unable to teach. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND.
The only reason i took her class in the first place was because she was the only option left. I should have just waited for the next semester. she expects you to watch hours of lecture outside of class before coming to the actual lecture time and then gets mad if you do not ask questions on something she hasnt taught. Also the exams are ridiculous
I chose this class because it was pretty much my last option. I highly recommend for you guys to not choose this class if it's your last option. Her tests are extremely hard no matter how much you study. I am more disappointed in how she handled situations. She doesn't accommodate to students, and blames everything on not studying enough.
If you are at a wit's end and need a last minute teacher for your major, please do not choose this woman! Her lectures are long, drawn out, and not necessary because 99.9% of the material doesn't even correlate with her quizzes. The midterm? 60 minutes for 60 questions and all of them are vague and have multiple answers to them. I withdrew! An F!
HORRIBLE PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER! run drop her class if you still have the chance! Worst virtual experience since Covid began. Over all her quizzes beyond hard! 1 minute per question you can not go back and you dont rreceiveany feedback. Email her? For what her responses are vague and a so sorry try again next semester. Please dont do it!
Unlike some people she wasnt my last option I wish I had read the reviews before picking her. This was the worst decision of my life. Do not take her class, you will regret it. You dont get enough time on your quizzes and you get one after each class...I hated every seconds of that class.
Like most people, I had no other choice but to take this class. I already saw the reviews but ignored it initially but lord I was wrong. She mainly grades off quizzes which are 10 questions each, but there are some with 25 questions with 10, 15, or 25 mins depending on the quiz. Study for the midterm and final cuz they are ruthless. Goodluck
Stay far away from her. Do not take her even if she was the last option, I promise you will regret it.
Do not take Professor Cainas. Even if there is no other option, wait next semester. The class consists of four exams and one assignment. Exams are 80% of the grade. She is hard to understand, and frankly, cannot teach over zoom at all. She has you watch lecture videos before class, and then goes over what's said in the video in class.
I took this class a while back and I dropped right after the midterm. I feel like the quizzes were just too hard, like no matter how much I tried I hardly did good on them.
Dr. Cainas is straight forward. There is A LOT of material to learn and she will remind you of that every class. There is a weekly quiz, on the material from the previous lecture. Read before class and ask her questions if you have them! Study the lab practical review, the power points and take the mock exams. She WILL GIVE YOU FEEDBACK!
Please believe in every single review. Do not take any class with professor Cainas. This is a hard class and with her is even harder. I memorized every single term in her manual before every quiz (from 150 PowerPoint slides) and after the midterm, I dropped. She does not teach, no extra credit, ridiculous goals.
Trust me when Im telling you please DO NOT take this professor! She will not help you AT ALL 15 people dropped her class, and she did nothing to better her teaching. Her exams are extremely hard and have NOTHING to do with her lectures. Please listen to me! Do not take her class! She is also extremely rude and will not help you out.
She is a very nice prof. It was a whole situation during covid whether we had to record our faces while testing (which I did not like). Expect to study like a maniac but this course was super fun to dive into what a marine biologist would have to know. Gotta work your butt off for sure.
BCS2085 is HARD not just another science. You don't do the assignments YOU won't PASS. She takes her time to go over everything, the recordings, labs, and study guides are there. EVERYTHING IS IN CONTENT. DO THE WORK. ASK QUESTIONS. GO TO THE OFFICE HOURS. SHE'S CLEAR AND STRAIGHTFOWARD. my grade reflects my effort not her teaching
shes good at teaching, but theres a quiz each class. most are from two to three chapters. very unrealistic to have a quiz each class as sometimes you only get one day to study three chapters with hundreds of things to remember. powerpoints are more than 100 slides and you have to study each one because you dont know if itll be on the quizzes.
BSC2085 and the lab are both hard classes, and you NEED to study to pass, but she wasn't all that bad. I saw all of the bad reviews and got so worried because I had no other options, but I actually really liked her. She's very straightforward, and she basically gives you the formula on how to pass her class, it's just your job to deliver.
Very good with grading
Shes just tough and unrealistic... a lot of kids fail. Do yourself a favor, choose a diff teacher, don't choose her class just because her class time is convenient, find a better teacher next semester and wait for a better opportunity. If you already have her, if you can withdraw with refund, DO IT! save your time and money. If not good luck...
I wish I had listened to the reviews because she times the quizzes for 10 mins. Lord, I hope I pass this class I'm scared. My advice to students is just to study and read. and watch youtube videos. Also, go to office hours and get tutoring. And pray.
I get that this class is hard in general but my GOD. She just an accent that is sometimes hard to understand. She flies through the lectures, jumps around so much and very unorganized when she teaches. She talks and explains things as if we already know them. Incredibly tough exams. If you have another choice, please go with it. I wish I did.
I have her for lecture and lab. She's pretty good in this lab portion. There are 10 question quizzes every class and experiments. They're fairly easy if you just read the couple of pages that was assigned days before. She lays out what we're doing in the lass that day and the next class to come so there are no surprises. Attendance is mandatory.
Teaching style does not make it desirable to learn. For example, study guides and such are provided and what this professor says is very important and one should study a lot on. But when exams comes, not exaggerating, less than even a chapter of whats on the study guide is being tested on. Both classes are bad, too much to say.
Your grade is determined by four exams pretty much. Last test was open note which saved my grade. The one project we got, if you do well on it boosts your grade.
if your good at teaching your self this is the class for you if not just avoid her
This is the worst Professor at Broward College, students please don't take this professor she gives 10 mins on a quiz lockdown. 60 questions with using for the test with using honor lock also, go back and watch videos. beware find another Professor. she will fail you. and don't care. even you get the answer correct she still fails students.
Do not take this professor. Cares about no one. If you miss one exam, even if you have an A in her class, she fails you. Midterm is ALL fill in the blanks, so if you are not good at spelling, F. Snippy attitude and belittles you. Also, if you are someone that looks anywhere but the screen while taking an exam to get your thoughts together, fail.
dont take her class you be very sorry you did.
Horrible professor Her lectures are just her showing the slides saying you will need this for next year but that she wont go over it because we have to read about it She did no teaching and the tests are hard The study guides basically contain everything in the book but only 1/5 of it is on the test. I couldve just done the connect for classes.
If you didn't do well, you didn't do what she had advised you to do. One of the rare teachers at Broward College that leaves you with the impression that she wants you to pass.
If you're not a good test taker, Beware. Professor C is a good teacher, but she is too exam-focused. If you miss one class, you are behind, and it will be hard to catch up. You have an extra assignment in the lecture, but they don't matter because of the exams. If you think you're up for the challenge, go for it.
Class is already hard and she make it 10 times harder. Have an accent so its hard to even understand. Gets off track and always have side comments. She belittles you so much that when you walk out of class you are wondering if you should change your major. Use study guide and when its time to take the test its nothing that was on the study guide.
Please run from her you will fail. 10 mins on a quiz with 10 questions and exams 1 hour with 60 questions. She think students is cheating in her online classes beware of this professor. and have to make sure everything is spell correctly. Just run. She is mean.
I took her class online thinking it would be easier but oh boy was I wrong her quizzes almost seem impossible to pass her exams didnt really make sense very different from what she teaches in class please dont take her class save your money
Professor Cainas needs to understand that we are living in the 21st century! Hence, she needs to implement new teaching strategies and techniques. There is no sense in teaching a complex course and you the instructor makes it triple times harder!!! It is obvious she does not care if you pass or fail! She can easily mislead you too so be careful!
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS LADY SHES THE WORST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD HER CLASS ASSIGNMENTS/ QUIZZZES ARE IMPOSSIBLE 20 QUESTIONS IN 20 MINUTES OR 10 QUESTIONS IN 10 MINUTES AND FOR HER EXAMS 60 QUESTIONS IN 60 MINUTES LIKE WTF PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER
Professor Cainas is a tough but great professor. Its def not an easy walk in the park. The class is tough but do-able. I wouldn't take this with any other hard pre-reqs. You will need to spend some hours studying for this class. However, the way she teaches the class really prepares you for what it's going to be like in the nursing/med programs.
She was a tough cookie. Although I got an A, many people withdrew from her class. She would not accommodate people who took the class online because they were preoccupied with work and the content is dense. She tests heavily!
Hello everybody, if you are desperate to take this class, i would not you recommend. This class is horrible, it is a stress starter, anxiety increaser, I literally want to cry. The Midterm and final are 60 are questions with 60 minutes, meaning 1 minutes per question. If you do want to waste money, and waste time, take this class.
Please don't waste your time. A true female dog.
just leave broward college already... people please run for your life and your grade and your gpa because she a mean and rude teacher she thinks everyone is cheating.
The worst!!!!
It's sad seeing so many students rate Dr. Cainas so poorly. I took AP 1 & 2 with her; I received A's in both. Plenty xtra credit, extends due dates, and helps with questions. You actually need to learn the material; not beg for exam spoon feedings. I got As with a toddler, medical issues, + learning disability. Not sure what you're all doing wrong.
She gave me an F on a test because I had covid and couldn't come to school.
If you are someone who has no experience with A&P at all, DO NOT take her AT ALL! She does not teach the material at all and looks at you and expects you to know it already. She would say come see her if you need any help, and when you do, all she would say is go to the Success Center. No tips or tricks on how to do better and what to improve on...
Worst worst teacher every
This professor is very very strict. She throw you a PowerPoint with 2-4 chapters together to study and a quiz EVERY class. Your grade REALLY depends on those quizzes. She does not give clear instruction on what is being test next. If you ask her something, she will say "Go to the academic success center for help!"
All the lab profs use the same tests (all 10 min written quizzes and spelling counts). This class is hard, 1/2 of the class withdraws midsemester. It's all memorization. The prof won't be able to get you to memorize organ systems in 20-minute lectures, you have to spend hours studying (if u go to the ASC they give you good resources and tips).
A & P is going to be hard no matter who teaches it. A lot of the material is memorization. Prof Cainas is hard, but she will build your foundation well and get you prepared for those advanced classes in the healthcare field. Get ready to study for 5+ hrs. Set your priorities straight and have a study schedule and you will be fine.
DO NOT TAKE! Beware! Worst teacher ever!
This class is a hard class it takes a lot of studying and discipline, Elena gives you all the tools you need to pass this class everything you need to learn is clearly stated in the lab and on her powerpoints. If you are hoping to put little effort and pass with an A this is not your class. I highly recommend this teacher she deserves a 5!
You can tell Dr. C loves teaching anatomy. She wants her students to have a good time learning and will give you the tools to succeed. As long as you read the syllabus thoroughly, you will know her expectations. Yes there is a quiz every class but the power points help tremendously, she will go back and curve the grade, and it helps for the final
The best teacher for Anatomy 1 Lab!!! This class is extremely difficult; everything is memorization. However, with Dr. Cainas, you can tell she wants you to succeed. I didn't pass the class the first time, but easily passed the second. My best advice is to take this class seriously, find someone to study with, and take the professor's advice!
I was going to take this class for my major and I had to drop it because she was incredibly difficult and strict. She said if you miss more than two days even if you are in the hospital, she will fail you even if you tell her that you are in the hospital. She has incredibly hard class and the midterm was going to be the hardest test you ever take
She is pretty test heavy, but I am pretty sure all A&P 1 classes will be like that. We had a quiz every class on the lab/lecture. You will need to study!! Don't take this class thinking you can slack off and not study. At the beginning of the semester, we had a bunch of people in our class but majority dropped it because they didn't study.
Honest review! She is very intimidating in the beginning. The key to success is the lab practical review list. Follow the lab practical review list in the book and have motivational people around you. The midterm will be hard!!!!. So make sure you follow all her advice, what her videos, and KNOW YOUR BONES!!
Prof. C is a gem! She is very clear and gives you the tools you need to pass every quiz! STUDY STUDY STUDY her lab manuals and you will pass. Take advantage of the bonus quiz and EASY connect homework that you have all semester to get done as it will help your grade! Listen to her advice about the midterm and rest assured, the final is easier! :)
Her lab was harder than the lecture that I took as a pair with another professor. Her mid-term/ final are both 60 Qs in 60 mins, ALL pictures of the different exercises. Provides a mid-term/final review, don't be surprised if there's material on the exams that weren't on the video. Spelling counts, if you're off a letter no points. NO extra credit.
This professor had an attitude from the first week of classes. Her lab class is absolutely unrealistic. Save yourself the time and money and find another professor. If she feels as though you scored too high, she will question you and your exam. Says a lot about her confidence in her own teaching ability.
My FAVORITE professor in BC. Ignore all the neg. ratings because those are just people that are too lazy to study. She is super sweet and willing to give advice. She practically give you powerpoints that you can already quiz yourself on, ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS STUDY. If I could take anatomy II with her, I would!
She gives a very hard learning style.
The worst professor ever w
It was a difficult class because anatomy itself is very complex.. If you want to pass take her advice and make time to do ALOT of studyingggg ;)
Anatomy is hard of course but this professor makes it difficult. You would get a quiz as soon as you come to class 10 quizzes. The midterm was hard I didn't do good or the final that was my fault for taking her. If you have to wait to get another professor then wait. I am telling you right now do not take her class for lab!
She is a nice person, i have nothing bad to say about her attitude she was willing to help, but of course it didn't mean she would change her teaching style, she gives so much material you don't even know where to start which makes studying overwhelming and confusing, exams are multiple choice and short answers, around 70 questions in 90min.
there is a 10 question quiz at beginning of every class on what you learned the last class. She expects you to memorize everything on the lab practical review list for each chapter. Midterm and final is a big portion of your grade. ALL quizzes and test are short response (no multiple choice).IF YOU STUDY FOR EVERY QUIZ/EXAM, YOU SHOULD PASS
She gave PowerPoints that were very helpful for our written response quizzes. We had a quiz every class due to us meeting once a week which was reasonable. She was lenient if you missed a letter or two on the quiz and would still give you the point. Overall was a good teacher and anatomy is challenging so you have to do your past and study.
Overall I think she was a great teacher, Just make sure to Study! You have 5 exams about 60 ques. and a written portion. She drops one of your lowest exam grades. Anatomy is hard, just watch all the videos she provides and keep up with the reading on the ebook. Connect assignments are easy, I suggest doing them as you go.
Prof.Cainas was a great lab teacher. Her PowerPoints are straight to the point and they help with all her quizzes. Her quizzes are at the beginning of every lab. Just study and you will pass her class. You have a midterm and a final. Go to the ASC as much as you can, studying with the props, it helps a lot.
The worst experience I had in her class. She's very sassy and always has a slick comment towards the students by whispering under her breath. She kicked me out of her class on the first day because I did not have a Lab coat. She couldn't even welcome me to her class that first day. I PROMISE YOU! DO NOT take her class! She rushes through everything
This professor is tough to take I had a few mental breakdowns. The quizzes and exams are hard. I did fail them I regret taking this class but I have to stick with it. People drop this class and failed. She gives heavy lessons and study materials be prepared but choose a good understanding professor.
1)She is very discipline oriented in the sense of her students should be aware of time management, requires a lot of studying/memorization for every chapter. 2)No slacking, she is straight forward and means business b/c if you're going into any health science field she wants you to be prepared for anything. This is the type of teacher to learn from
Took this professor for Anatomy 2 lab online. Material can be challenging, but an A is possible if you study the powerpoints. Gives feedback after each quiz to prepare you for midterm and final. Responds to any concerns in a timely manner, and does what she can to help you pass. This is not an easy A course, but you do get the grade you work for.
Unnecessarily difficult, accusatory, seemingly unable to be impartial. I see why her classes are available well after the start of the semester, I wish I could have afforded to avoid this course! I would wait an entire yr before taking a seat in her class again, and it is my sincerest hopes that this is where our paths part permanently. Best wishes
Very tough grader. All of her tests are all fill in the blank - no work bank. Spelling counts. Labs are easy but quizzes and tests are very hard.
Really tough grader. I know anatomy is hard, but I feel like she makes it harder. All of tests are fill in. Not giving enough time to finish. When emailed she gives really rude responses. No wonder why her classes are always available. Nobody wants to take it.
This professor was unprofessional during online office hours. Does not provide clear feedback, or feedback at all. Will not allow students to review quizzes or exams. There is no study guide for online classes. There were no suggestions as to what exactly to study and made assumptions about student's ability to perform in classes.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! The worse professor ever. She doesnt help with anything. There is a Quiz every week and she grade on spelling and if the student make 1 mistake she will marked it wrong. WOST PROF EVERR!
She is the worse professor ever, she is such a tough grader, quiz every week, spelling matters, I study hard and it's still hard to pass, read chapters before class and airs your business out if your failing. Listen to the reviews don't take her unless you want to fail.
She's a VERY tough grader. I studied extremely hard for every quiz and passed them all but the amount of studying i did just for this class was crazy (about 10+ hours a week). There's also no such thing as a private convo in that classroom, everyone will know ur business. Attendance is mandatory as well. If you miss 2 days you automatically fail.
She could be a great professor. She is very test heavy. Spelling counts. She will remind you that you will fail. I feel like she makes the class difficult on purpose. Had to retake the course with another professor and got a B.
Unless you are a super smart nursing major, DO NOT TAKE HER! Her class is more physiology than anatomy & she will act as if it's nursing school. Her exams are like AP exams where there are MC, short answer, & essay. I'm supposed to get my AA this semester & transfer, but I can't cause she failed me with a D+ so I'm 3 credits short. Overall, RUN!
I loved Dr. Cainas. If you try and do what's asked of you, you will get the easy A. She's a very caring and interesting person if you actually take the time to get to know her. Great prof!
Manage your time wisely, study and read chapters take short but concise notes that will help you remember content better (long notes take too much time). Do the all the connect activities and assignments, theres plenty of bonus stuff to elevate your grade. Don't let reading or connect stuff accumulate. Be dedicated to your class and you will pass.
This professor was beyond difficult. She told us to study for the wrong things on the midterm. Only 4 people passed the midterm and even less passed the class. She is sometimes snarky and gives extremely hard quizzes and exams. The powerpoints are mostly over 200 slides which makes it impossible to study. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF!!!
I passed her class Fall semester with a 96%. If you're not great at memorization and spelling, avoid this class. You MUST be strong at those two or you will surely fail. Pop quizzes every week, and be cautious of the midterm. Study the models carefully, always go over the practical exam practice in her PowerPoints and you will definitely pass.
She was great! Accessible outside class, and I would've scored higher if I studied more. She relies alot on PowerPoints, but lets you make up quizzes. Not everyone's a genius—just study, visit the ASC, and review models. Most exam material, including the funky-smelling brains, is covered. Saying this as someone who's taken the course twice!
Ms.Cainas is genuinely a great professor despite the majority of students disapprovals. She's a honest professor that shows interest. She may be a bit snappy if you're unprepared for the class coming or exam. Her exams aren't too difficult because her reviews are DETAILED! Just don't be lazy, try your best and it'll be fine!
This class is a filter class for those pursuing a degree in health sciences. The lab itself shows what is going to be covered in the quizzes/exams, but it is up to the student to make sure they actually grasp the material, and that takes a lot of time outside the classroom. Prof. C does well at making her expectations and needed material clear.
She is a good professor, if you study the PowerPoints you'll be fine for the quizzes. She drops your lowest quiz grade and the homework does help balance out your grade. She answers all questions you may have, she's really good at explaining things, and she's pretty easy to get in contact with outside of class.
You will have to do study on your own or in a group, but most people have a D or C. There are so many things to learn and memorize. You should start studying for the midterm and/or final the first week. If you take this class, just be super ready. This is not an easy class. She does not give credit if you misspell a word or two.
If you go to every class and study lab practical reviews you will pass with no problem. My only issue with this professor was she seemed like she didn't like me and give me a bad attitude when asking her a questions or speaking to her. Another thing is she has a heavy spanish accent, so when she says body parts it's difficult to understand.
I love how dedicated Dr. Cainas is to her job. I took her lab session 4 and it was really fast paced but manageable because I was only taking the lab and a different professors lecture. She starts the course with complete honesty about the work you have to put in & if you listen to her advice you'll be well off. 10 question quiz at start of classEZ
She is great! She tells you what you have to do! if you want to succeed in her course, give it time, and all you got!!!
I'm sorry, but this is not a professor who supports her students. If you want to pass, do not take this course. Content on the exam wasn't in her LPR, and the ASC was not as helpful as claimed. She comes off very passive aggressive. The study guide didn't match the tests. Save your GPA and your money.
I took her for a summer semester and she was great. She really cares and literally tells us what to study sometimes. Would definitely take her again.
Took her in the summer for a short semester it was difficult to keep up, but I was still able to pass because she highlights the topics that are going to be on the test. It is a lot of information to learn but that's human anatomy for you, her extra credit definitely helps, and I will be taking her course again for anatomy 2.
nice lady but if you want to pass DONT TAKE HER. asc does not help but she swear it does. what she says to study are not on the quizzes. the favoritism was clear who she had it for. if you are a a** kisser she will love you
I was crying when I passed her final exam that's how hard she is to pass. Studying her PowerPoints, learning visual memorialization, and SPELLING. That is the most important thing in her class. She's hard but as long as you do those 3 things, you're going to be okay. She's literally Cruella in a lab coat. Good luck
I liked this professor. Her class was easy to follow and everything you need to succeed is in the PowerPoints she provides. As long as you study them and remember the spelling, you will do great. There was no homework, just weekly quizzes, and the workload was very manageable. Overall, I enjoyed her class and would probably take her again.
