She is one of the worst teachers that I have ever had. She is so totally biased because she is liberal. I had her for a speech class, and beware, you can't speak on anything that isn't her point of view. If she doesn't agree with you, then you'll fail the speech. I would suggest everyone stay away!

I wish I would have never signed up for her class. She places the focus entirely upon herself, and berates you when coming to her for help. When I pointed out an inconsistency in her assignment instructions, she basically told me to 'f' off because she has a master's degree, and then failed to clarify what she actually wanted me to do.

I am here to warn all not to take this teacher. Every single time I have emailed this teacher asking a question about an assignment, she has only given me snarky responses or responded like it was an obvious answer and i should have know better. It takes her a couple days to give feedback and even longer to grade.

I thought the class was fun. Test are extremely easy, 100% on the first time every time. Soapbox speech and special occasion speech are easy A's. The informative she grades softly, and the persuasive she greats very hard. The teacher can be moody some times, but she is very clear on what she expects. So if you listen and does what she says easy A!

This was a hybrid course; quizzes were online, submit speech forms online, speeches in class. She talks about herself and tends to get off topic A LOT then complain that speeches are running behind (wonder why?!). The quizzes are EASY. I got straight A's the whole class. But I was one of a few who followed the directions and read the syllabus.

Extremely stubborn and her syllabus is very unspecific when it comes to what she wants. If you ask a question she will give you an attitude then states "it's in the syllabus." For those that have to take her classes, good luck. You're going to need it.

I loved having Professor Jarvis as my SPC2608 course teacher. She is stern and a no bull spit kind of lady when it comes to college. She is kind and respectful and treats you like an adult, because after all this is college. She expects the best out of you. Read her syllabus, take notes always, and pay attention and you'll get an A. Fun class!

She is horrible rude to the point of disgusting/shocking. She raves about her greatness and hates to be wrong. Basically it's an easy A if you follow syllabus/grading/speech handouts on what you must include. The book is helpful since she isn't. Also don't disagree with her point of view or discouraging statements. Class will build character!

Professor Jarvis' class was very interesting and eye opening. Her ways of teaching speech included talking about her life as a journalist. Her grading process for the speeches was very difficult . She is very narcissistic and will take constructive criticism from no one. Overall, this class was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken.

Professor Jarvis is unlike any teacher you've ever had. She can be dedicated, intimidating, witty, and inspirational all at the same time. Be prepared to follow the syllabus and any explicit in-class instructions perfectly, or expect points deducted! Overall, if you like to procrastinate, she'll fix you. Would recommend to diligent students.

Professor Jarvis is definitely one of a kind and one of the most knowledgeable professors I've had throughout college. Although she is a tough grader when it comes to your speeches, it's because she really wants you to challenge yourself. This class will certainly push you out of your comfort zone!

Really great teacher to be honest. If your not lazy and actually attend the class then you will do fine. I also highly recommend you don't get on her bad side by being disrespectful. She will constantly call you out for it.

If you're planning on taking an Elena Jarvis class, you pretty much are signing up for many personal stories, some name-dropping, and a highly critical woman who tells stories about other students in class. But she knows her subject. She always tries to get at least one guest speaker in class, and some of the projects are fun (teleprompter reading)

Professor Jarvis would be ok, if she stopped complaining about how there is not enough time to go over our speeches, yet has no problem talking about herself, repeatedly cutting into class time. She also treats her students like little children, threatening to lower there grades if they leave class to use the restroom. Very disrespectful.

Very defined grading rubric. There are only like 5 speeches. Easy class. You don't need the textbook for anything but quizzes which are online and so are the answers :) Not a bad teacher just kind of annoying. Attendance is mandatory, incarceration isn't even an excuse. Attendance is a grade.

I'll just keep it short. Class really isnt that hard. Everything you need is online and you better use it. You won't get much info about the work in class. Every point that gets discussed leads into a personal story about her life. I cannot stress this enough. She will talk and talk about her life. Very little class time pertains to actual learning

Workload is average. I got really sick and was out for 2 weeks (4 lectures missed total). I had hospitalization papers to prove it and she still wouldnt let me make up anything. I failed her class because of it. She talks about herself a lot and I can honestly say I didnt learn much from her. She makes it known shes better than her students.

I took this class 3 years ago so maybe things have changed. That being said she is by far one of the worst professors I have ever had. She was very politically bias, and it showed when I gave a speech on a controversial topic. Instead of grading it for how it was presented, she literally tried to debunk me in the grade comments Very unprofessional!
