This professor makes a hard class even worse. Homework takes the average of the attempts not the best score, it is challenging, and 35% of the grade. Not enough time to complete the tests but there is an optional final. Had a 72%, needed a 73% to receive credit but she wouldn't round it up. Not a good teacher would not recommend!
She is nice but the class is hard. She is willing to help anyone if they ask questions though. The homework is graded on an average. The exams are based on aplia. She has an accent so try to sit up front so you can hear her.
I took the merger class that's half online. she's super hard to understand and her lectures are really hard to follow.
She has a hard time explaining the material which makes it harder than it is. Mind tap is what you use for homework and it is difficult to get a good grade on because you get 3 attempts but it takes the average as your score. I have to take this course again because I did not understand any concept. I attended every lecture and did all my homework.
its so hard to understand her. if you don't listen well to accents don't take her class. clicker questions are super important in this class so go to class just for the points cause you won't understand her lectures at all.
She was very clear in lectures and what she said always shows up on tests. HW is two assignments a week and not that bad. Just be sure to study for the tests and you'll be fine. Nice lady.
Prof. Prado is a very nice lady. However, her teaching can be quite unclear sometimes and makes it hard to follow. She does curve the class a little and she is willing to help if you go to office hours. She is not the worst teacher but not the best either.
Just dont do it fam. She has an accent that just makes the class more difficult and annoying. Every 2 minutes she asks, Are you guys following guys? Yeah? Does that make ehsense? Yeah? and nobody every responds. I almost feel bad for her. Theres no attendance but theres a couple clicker questions every day. Keep up with the weekly hw
Shes the sweetest professor Ive ever come across, but her class can get a bit difficult. Weekly homework that isnt graded on completion but actual correctness. Attendance isnt mandatory but there are clickers every class and its better to have those points. Her accent does not impede you from learning the topics, she explains things well.
Had to take this course for my major and failed. Taking it again online because this professor makes no sense when she teaches. If You don't like economics and you're just doing it for the credit, take it online and find more creative ways to pass instead of sitting on these lectures. Only reason why I came to class was for the clicker questions.
I really had to teach myself econ in this class and I read through the textbook prior to get an idea of what was to come. It was definitely a hard class. The homework was brutal. I did notice her accent but I didn't think it was the worst thing in the world.
I went into this course after already taking AP Macro in high school so essentially I've already taken this class. It's frustrating for me since there seem to be easier and more understandable ways to teach some of these topics than how she teaches them. However, she is a very sweet professor and has a passion and deep understanding for econ
Dont take her if this is your first time leaving economics. She goes through the class very fast and expects you to understand the materials beforehand.
Clickers for participation in class, you can skip sometimes but not every class or both each week. Online assignments arent hard. The 3 tests are hard, they do not reflect what she teaches us in class. But she curves each test & if you take the final it will replace your worst score. Shes difficult to understand. Overall class is frustrating.
Not the best professor I've had but not the worst. Very tough class, decent amount of homework to boost your grade but test averages tend to weigh it down. Tests are VERY hard, class averages was usually somewhere in the 60-70 range WITH a curve. She is available during the week, take advantage If you are looking for an easy class, this is not it.
She's the worst. She explains stuff in her own confusing way which makes this class way harder than it supposed to be. Oftentimes, her homework makes no sense, and sometimes are even impossible to do because of the visual of the graphs. All in all, avoid her at all cost.
Where to begin..... attendance isn't mandatory but the participation is based on iclicker which did not work for the first 3 sessions. Full credit is given for participation if you get 72% on participation, but what she does not tell you is that the iClicker question are not all taught, some are there to "Challenge you".
A lot of homework and iclicker questions, but she goes thoroughly through everything during her lectures, so you're good if you show up and put in a little effort. She is also really helpful during office hours and wants you to succeed. Overall good professor if you put in the work.
Not my favorite prof. She doesn't explain concepts that well, and moves through things incredibly quickly. I pretty much had to teach myself everything in this class.
I have never in my life taken a class so painfully boring. Every second I spent in lecture brought me closer to offing myself. Class begins with 45 minutes of clicker questions that count for accuracy. Then she briefly lectures and it is so boring that I physically cannot pay attention. This is by the worst class I've ever taken.
I'm not even in this class, but I go with my girlfriend sometimes and currently its been 50 minutes and shes still doing clicker questions. she pauses for minutes at a time and it just makes me uncomfortable. if you get a clicker question wrong, there goes your points for the day. She inspires me to not become an Econ Major.
i dont know why she has such bad reviews! I took her after failing Hilmer's econ 101 class and now I have such a good grade. She actually cares and wants you to do well she is literally the sweetest lady. She uploads lectures and gives you the materials to do well so if you put in the work you will be fine. Econis a tough class regardless of prof
Honestly not that bad. She's not the best teacher because of her accent but its ok. The big part that makes this class decent is she CURVES EVERYTHING, homework, clicker, tests, everything. Brought me up 20%. But you should definitely look up the online homework on quizlet its all there. And be prepared to teach yourself before tests w/ study guide
She is extremely kind and helpful. She always responds promptly to emails. She goes above and beyond to help her students out. Econ is not an easy concept so you will have to put in work. she curves ALL the tests. she does clicker questions each class so you do have to attend but they are helpful. Curves every test. & her accent is so cute!
Prof. Prado was nice. I liked when she always uploaded video lectures via Blackboard where you could access all materials that you need and submit all of your assignments. Her tests was hard for me, but in the end, she gave me perfect percentage for my assignments and class participation through iclicker questions.
After failing econ I took Prado and she was very helpful. Very sweet professor, not sure why so many bad ratings.
I went to all of her lectures because she does clicker questions for attendance/credit. She teaches really fast and I had to spend a lot of time watching her recorded lessons and other youtube instructors to understand the material.
She is the most boring professor I've ever had. Super nice, but she cannot teach at all!! She makes everything so confusing & doesn't explain well. She doesn't give enough time for how much she asks for on her hard tests. Her voice makes it physically impossible for me to pay attention in lectures. Steer clear!!!
If you are taking this as your first introduction to Econ, I would recommend choosing a different professor. Pradolopez is very knowledgeable, however the lectures are not good or informative, and are just repeats of powerpoints. Tests are hard but are curved VERY generously. Expect to do a lot of self learning, but passing is not hard with curve.
First things first, this class is not easy. I took macro already so I feel like it was not too bad for me but generally this was a difficult class for most people. Professor Prado is very smart and knowledgeable regarding Econ but her lectures do not line up with the assignments and exams. Lectures are full of real life example not content.
She does her best to make the lectures informative, and if you take notes and really pay attention you should be fine on the tests. It also helps that she puts super strong curves on every test. The lectures are boring and not always helpful so sometimes you will have to teach yourself the information through the MindTap assignments.
This class was difficult as her study guides for her midterms don't actually match up with what's on her midterms. On top of this, she has a very strong accent and it's extremely difficult to listen to what she's trying to say in her lectures because of it. Would strongly suggest to not take her class for ECON-101.
Curves tests heavy which helps a lot but the homework and tests tend to vary from what is taught in class
If you take her class, consider investing in Chegg Study or subscribing to Khan Academy on YouTube as you will not learn much from her. Her accent is way too strong to understand what she's trying to say during lecture. Would advise to not take if you want to pass ECON101.
Very inconsiderate professor, in my opinion. Does not listen to student's feedback, study guide does not match midterm material, decent curve, and optional final. She crammed too much for finals and stressed everyone. If you have to take her, prepare to teach yourself. Do not recommend.
The assignments are easy because you get several tries on each question and the midterms are curved very heavily
Prado's class is not the easiest but if you study and take advantage of the A+ test prep tool that comes with cengage then you'll do well on the test. I didn't go to class for 2 weeks and crammed 2 days for the last midterm and got an A bc she curves a lot. As long as you actually study for her tests, I don't find them hard
Professor refuses to answer questions after class or help when you dont understand. Not lenient with homework, late work, or exam grades. Does not offer extra credit and all exams are hard. But gives a heavy curve
This course was hybrid and we had two assignments due every week that took about an hour each, due on Friday night and Sunday night. Professor Prado is knowledgeable on economics but I found her lectures to be tedious and felt that I had to review lots of material to fully understand the concepts. Three midterms that are very difficult.
Class is fast-pace and she basically just reads off her powerpoint slides and doesn't elaborate on the points. Tests are hard but heavily curved. It feels like you have to self-teach yourself in this class and have to study really hard to get a good grade in her class. There is also no extra credit given out.
You must put a lot of effort into this class because her lectures dont really help you understand, you must read the text book as well! she does curve the tests by ALOT which is a blessing and she is understanding at times. Midterms are 35 questions 50 mins which i felt was not enough time considering that some questions were time consuming
Although it is hard to understand her accent, Prado is a caring professor and wants to see the best for her students. Economics is a hard class but as long as you always do the homework and pass the midterms with at least a 60%, you should pass with at least a C
Exams were impossible she had to curve every single one. Classes are extremely boring and it's so easy to zone out in them. Homework is also impossible without CHEGG and they're often long and difficult even with help. TAKE A DIFFERENT PROF. You could easily pass this class but it gave me so much stress and was so hard for no reason.
ok honestly this class/the topics is hard regardless of prof. obviously she has a strong accent, but she lets you know to drop class in beginning if its really bothering you. homework made me want to die, but its manageable (kind of). curve was so heavy, but bless her for that. legit got a 12/30 and curve made it 22.75/35. also optional final
This is definitely more of a self-taught class for sure. She does have a little bit of a heavy accent which is kind of hard to understand sometimes but she is super caring and genuine. She will always try to help you succeed and help you understand better if you need it. This class was online and in-person so you have the choice to decide.
Lectures do not relate to homework, homework does not relate to exams. There is WAY to much information to learn for an intro class. Prof was nice but students did not respect her- they talked over the whole class and she didn't do anything about it. To be fair, she curved all exams generously and offered a lot of support. Lectures uploaded online.
Has a strong accent so it's super hard to understand her. Curves the tests, but they are super hard. She writes them all herself so it's so hard to even understand what she's asking. Class is all lectures but she never really covers test material. She teaches definitions and overall topics but then the tests are all math that we are never taught.
Econ is just hard. Her notes are very helpful and the homework helps with tests! She cares for her students so you can ask a lot of questions. If I had to take another Econ class I would take her again because she is very smart and wants you to learn. Quizzes are hard and there's 3 midterms throughout the semester.
overall tough class but it is possible to get a passing grade with work
Great Teacher! You get points every day for iclicker which in a way counts toward your attendance. Overall a really good teacher as long as you pay attention in lectures. Weekly Canvas quizzes which are hard but exams are a lot like the quizzes. She has a heavy accent but I found her easy to understand and very nice! Hw is due once a week online.
Econ is already a hard subject and when it is hard to understand your professor with an accent. ICLicker participation points each class which will bring down your grade if you miss. Weekly canvas quizzes that are difficult, 3 major exams, 1 group project, optional final depending on your grade.
This teacher does not do a good job on teaching the course at all. She is also the only teacher that does in person midterms, and they are nothing like the study guides. She curves the tests big, because everyone fails and the curve does not help a lot. If you want to pass your Econ class I would highly recommend any other teacher than her.
this class made economics literally incomprehensible for me. first, the canvas quizzes. they had absolutely nothing to do with the homework and because she crafts a lot of these questions on her own, there are multiple acceptable answers which makes getting a 100 unrealistic. test & hw heavy. if you are bad at econ, avoid this class at all costs.
Very vague lessons and provides little to no help during office hours. Accent is hard to understand and the slides she teaches with provide no valuable information to learn from. Also so few assignments with heavy grades your grade is ruined easy
Weekly homework and quizzes. Exams are 60% of the grade and are really difficult, but she curves. Overall it's a difficult course but it's manageable to get a C.
Genuinely don't take this professor if you don't have to, all the homework is mind tap but the midterms are so hard and it's impossible to chegg her homework for the most part. I studied for hours and hours for these midterms and still only would get D's or low C's. It was overall just super frustrating.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. This class is impossible to understand and the homework and weekly quizzes do not match the lectures what so ever. I never got above an F on her tests and everyone I know that is taking the class has to take it again. Save yourself the stress and headache.
I know other responses have said this, and I saw them too before I decided to take her (thinking I was going to be fine), but seriously DO NOT TAKE HER. So hard to understand her lectures and the quizzes and tests are so difficult. It's such a joke how she doesn't see a problem when the average test scores are 40's-60's. So difficult for a 90+
Do not take her. She is not a good teacher at all, I had to teach myself everything. She also has a heavy accent that is hard to understand. She never actually teaches anything, she just reads off a slide. There is homework and a quiz every week. The quizzes suck. Avoid having her as a teacher. Many people fail this class because of her. Goodluck.
Her lectures are unclear, quizzes are confusing, and overall just not flexible at all. The only good thing is that she curves test a lot, but still very difficult to pass her tests.
Lectures do not make any sense. Online homework and quizzes do not match the exams or lectures. Class moves at a very fast pace and lots of outside studying is needed bc she doesn't teach you. She is a nice person and grades on a curve which is nice but exams are not returned to you so you don't know what you got wrong.
Do not take her as a professor even if it is your last resort. Lectures are very confusing and nothing is explained in depth. Homework and quizzes are due every Sunday and are nothing like the Lectures. Only good thing is that tests are curved a lot, but that is only because everyone basically gets a C at best before the curve.
This course was really difficult and I was floating with a C- for most of the class. Tests and quizzes are both ridiculously hard. I met with her and it helped me a little bit, but my grades still did not improve. Exams are worded completely different from what you study so it is super confusing. I know many people who did not pass with her.
I feel kind of bad for giving a 3 as Professor Prado was a very caring professor, but to be honest her accent was pretty hard to understand which made it kind of hard. Homework and canvas quizzes were pretty hard but I guess that goes for any econ course. I actually got a good grade because exams, although they were hard, were heavily curved.
This class overall the concepts can be difficult but the teacher herself is honestly so nice and she really wants her students to pass. She has office hours and if you really want to pass you will. She is so sweet and constantly asks the class if we understand, however no one responds so it is not her fault. She is really good I'm surprised onrates
Second time taking this class cus I failed the first time. It sucks and the midterms are majority of your grade.
Genuinely do not take this professor. Hardest class I have ever taken and gave me so much stress. She is such a nice and caring professor but the class is very difficult. The midterms make or break your grade, you have weekly homework and quizzes but they barely touch your grade. The midterms are heavily curved but doesn't help. DO NOT TAKE
A lot of the reviews on here are grading Prof. Pradolopez a little too harshly. Her class has difficult material but she is a very kind person who wants to make sure everyone understands. Her office hours are great, very organized class, and she always has resources for further help. Her tests however are very hard, but strong curve.
Great Professor! Although this class is more mathematically demanding than your regular GE, I believe that the professor does a great job at allowing the students to succeed by having clear grading criteria. The midterms are extremely important, so be sure to study well for those if math is something that doesn't come to you naturally.
She seems to really care about her students but her tests were pretty hard. Lots of work but the homework would not line up with what she reviewed in class. You need to do a lot of studying outside of class which I was unable to keep up with.
lectures are confusing, she goes through slides too fast, and is not great at explaining. if you take this test i heavily recommend doing the A test prep before a test as that's the one thing that saved me. overall econs hard so i'm not sure it's the teachers fault but you will definitely need to study outside of this class
this professor is the NICEST lady I have ever met however her class is very difficult due to unclear teaching and structure. There is not a lot of teaching that occurs- mostly just reading slides. However she does care and offers lots of office hours and the tests have a strong curve.
A lot of the reviews about her are too harsh. She's really kind and wants everyone to understand, but her lectures can occasionally be confusing. Tests are also a majority of your grade, so be prepared to study well before them. Overall though, she's a good professor and I'd take her class again.
Professor Prado-Lopez's expectations are very defined, her slides offer great reinforcement for difficult concepts in the textbook, and she tries her best to offer students resources and extended video lectures when necessary. As long as you use A+ test prep and do assignments on time, you should be fine.
Professor Prado is lovely and caring! She offers after-class tutoring. You will 100% have to study outside of class and midterms weigh heavily on your grade. Quizzes and homework barely raise your grade. I had to use Chegg 80% of the time while doing the homework. She's making improvements, but the class is still really tough.
DO NOT select her. She has NO REMORSE, is NEVER eager to help her students, and a terrible lecturer. Attendance is mandatory. participation grade is based off of accuracy. Homework graded for accuracy. Exams deliberately trick you. Does not want her students to succeed. Drop her class immediately or invest in a private tutor to teach you everything
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She had iClicker for points and if you didn't get them right you lost points. Homework and quizzes every week that were online were super hard. Hard to pay attention in class. Very boring and her handwriting is confusing. If you don't understand anything in the class you'll fail. This is also an exam-heavy class (60%).
Econ 101 is pretty hard itself and the professor does care for her students. She does her best to try and teach, but it's just really hard to understand and the exams are 60% of your grade. She can be difficult to understand and to even do good in this class, you'll have to study and learn on your own from the online textbook. Use A+ Test Prep!
This class is solely dependent on how you learn without the professor explaining things in a easy way. For my whole time in this class, I basically had to teach myself economics. You quickly go through every chapter in a week and memorizing things in this class was basically impossible. Test-heavy class, super confusing and hard to understand.
She isn't that bad of a teacher if you actually do the work and study for the tests. The A+ test prep is very helpful and it also helps to pay attention in her lectures. She has an accent so sometimes it can be hard to understand her, but you get used to it fast.
This class is not for the weak. Professor Prado is very caring but the class is almost unbearable. She is understanding for the most part but her class is very test-heavy. Participation is mandatory as she does iclicker for participation points. All the homework took me forever and it was hard to understand lectures because she has a strong accent
Although I got an alright grade, this is the most studying and self teaching I have ever done for a class. I always came out of tests depressed, and homework took forever to complete. Although she is very nice, a nice teacher doesn't mean she's necessarily a good one. Please do yourself a favor and don't take this class. It WILL save u suffering.
Professor Prado is a sweet lady BUT her class was one of the hardest classes I've taken. The homework she gives has nothing to do with the lectures. You spend a majority of the semester trying to teach yourself. You will be studying for hours. Go to class, she does iclicker questions. She is hard to understand as well. I reccomend not taking this.
Professor Prado is super sweet & has a gentle vibe to her but econ is overall a complex subject & her way of teaching was difficult for me to understand. My peers and I all had C's & were constantly overwhelmed by the grading. I wouldn't recommend taking her class for those who are getting into the jist of econ as I was. 3/5 recommend.
Professor is very sweet, not a good teacher though. Quizzes and midterms make up your whole grade basically. She said, reading the textbook and doing the homework was not gonna be enough to get a good grade in the class. I barely passed, and I would recommend any other professor tbh.
Very clear expectations, great at explaining/summarizing content, and curves tests well. Read the textbook and you'll do well.
I took her for ECON 101 and it was pretty bad, but this class was so much worse. She rushed through a lot of the chapters and then recorded the remaining lectures before the chapter quizzes. Honestly, this class is just really hard and she doesn't make it any easier to understand. IClickers also count for participation point, so be aware of that.
The hardest prof for econ 101. I don't recommend it. Tests are all in person and on paper, HW and canvas quizzes are hard. I even attended every lecture and still struggled. Class averages for tests are failing to 70% at best. practice questions also have no similarity to the tests. Also hard to understand during lectures with her accent, sorry.
Get a consistent study schedule going! She's a nice lady and you can tell she cares a lot, but she may be the worst teacher I've ever had. Her lectures are a snooze fest and you barely take anything away from them. Most of the slides in the lecture are accessible through Canvas. My advice: start studying early and utilize the Cengage materials.
Absolutely useless lectures. CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TEACHER!!!
don't take this class
An extreme accent goes very quickly, and students are expected to understand. Weekly tests and homework that affect your grade severely. lectures don't help me learn. DON'T TAKE CHOOSE SOMEONE ELSE.
There is a language barrier that sometimes is hard ot understand her. Her lectures are not useful but you do need to attend class because she does in class points. IF another professor is available to take the class, GO TO ANOTHER PROFESSOR OR TAKE IT AT COMMUNITY. Wouldn't take again.
She's a really nice person but has a STRONG accent so lectures are pretty hard to understand and she goes really fast, by the time you've finished copying the slide she's already 3 ahead. This class is really hard, if there's an option for a different class - TAKE IT
Don't take this class. Lectures are useless but mandatory for in-class points and attendance.
This class was extremely difficult. She just reads from power points that overall have nothing to do with the tests. tests are main part of grade. Studies for hours and failed them all, none of the content relates. DO NOT TAKE
She is very sweet, but a very difficult teacher. She is said to be the hardest out of all the others and I can attest to that. Her practice tests are nothing like the actual exam and everyone does poorly. If you HAVE to take her class, do the A+ review sessions! Only thing that really helped. Also no extra credit so everyone has a bad grade.
Professor Prado is very sweet, however when it comes to this course she is very lecture heavy. The provided material such as practice exams, and questions are NOTHING like the actual exams. Most students, if not all, do POORLY on the exams, her curve helps slightly. Very hard to find tutors who can help understand the concepts. NO EXTRA CREDIT.
Do not take this teacher, her tests are impossible, her power-points are very hard to understand. Coming from someone who found success in econ in high school, this class was beyond difficult.
Professor Prado is a very sweet lady, she really cares about her students BUT this class is unnecessarily difficult. She has had a reputation of failing the most amount of students out of any professor and I can attest to that. If you want to have any kind of success in this class you have to put in a lot of effort outside of class. USE +A STUDY
She is very nice. People complain about her accent but she's not even difficult to understand if you try at all. she just does not do a very good job of explaining things going thru the slides very quickly. There are three exams worth 60% of grade, homework was also big. Final is optional, she takes your best 3 of 4 exam scores for grade.
She sets clear expectations with what you need to do to succeed. She gives you the resources to succeed, such as study guides, book material, quizzes, and practice tests. This class is very test-heavy 3 midterms with 60% of the total grade. Very generous curve on midterms. If you put in effort you will do well.
Professor Prado is super nice but she is one of the worst teachers Ive ever had. Her lectures are super hard to follow and hard to understand. I had to teach myself the course material. I attended every single class, took notes, paid attention, and I still struggled. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
She's honestly not that bad. As long as you put in the effort to understand the concepts, you will be fine. She provides so many resources to help you prepare and succeed, and she's overall a caring person. Go to her office hours if you're struggling. Pay attention during lectures but also put in the work outside of class.
DONT TAKE THIS COURSE YOU WILL FAIL! She is a very nice lady but does not know how to teach correctly. you will have extremely time consuming homework assignments weekly for this class that barely help your grade. her midterms are nothing like what she teaches in class and her accent makes it hard to follow what she's saying. take with anyone else.
do not take this class
Your grade is entirely dependent on the midterms. You can get A's and B's on every homework assignment but if you don't do good on the midterms you will not pass.
One of the worst teachers at state
Okay for someone coming fresh out of HS this class is going to be a slugfest. If you don't participate, don't utilize the online textbook or office hours, you WILL fall behind. This class was very challenging and I feel like Professor Prado is a very nice lady but, her teaching style is just not incredible. Use the +A Study tools on the textbook!!
This was definitely one of my harder courses. Being a business major who has to take this course, and has taken AP Econ in high school, I would recommend professor Prado Lopez if you are good at teaching yourself.
If you took Econ in HS the beginning of this class should be a breeze. It picks up after the first few chapters and ends up being way too much content to take in at one time. I appreciated her lesson plan format. Weekly hw and quizzes and 3 midterms with an optional final where she'll drop your lowest exam score.
She is extremely difficult, borderline impossible. There is an extreme amount of work and very little breathing room when it comes to assignments. Very test heavy too. DONT TAKE!
Lectures were useless with the way she explains things. I just read the chapters and learned on my own. There are weekly homework and quizzes that aren't too bad. Exams are in person and doable, but only if you read and reviewed thoroughly. If not, you'll probably fail. This is a class you need to spend a good amount of time on.
This class is DIFFCULT, exams are worth 60% but will drop lowest exam (4 total), lectures don't help so study on your own ahead of time and use the online resources and practice a lot. Exams in my opinion were hard even having taken economics in HS, extra credit sometimes only worth couple points,do good on everything else if not a good exam taker.
DON'T TAKE HER CLASS EVEN IF IT'S THE ONLY OPTION! Doesn't know how to teach materials. Every student who had taken Econ in high school had received Ds and Cs on all of her midterms and finals. Homework and canvas quizzes every week, but has nothing to do with what she "taught" in class. Very hard to understand her with her accent. 0/10.
As a international student professor Prado was total waste of time. The lectures were totally useless because of the hard communication. Professor Prado tends to overcomplicate stuff to the fullest. Instead of just giving the easy forms, Prado liked to make it sound hard. Quick tip, stay home to study, no point going to the lectures. XD
The lectures are so confusing and unhelpful. I literally got a better score on the second midterm, teaching myself everything without attending her lectures because she is so confusing. She's very nice and understanding, but the exams account for 60% of the grade, and she doesn't prepare you for them at all. I don't suggest this class at all.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This is so bad, and it's not even over yet. Nobody understands what's going on, and you have to do dumb class presentations on news articles that don't help us learn in any way. The exams are awful, and you will never be prepared.
She is super caring for the success of students. Very approachable and is ready to give all the help needed to ensure success. Her explanation of the concepts are super clear and she is reafu to explain concepts until it's clear. The office hours have been helpful
I DO NOT recommend!! Unless ypu can learn on your own Prado is not helpful. She is a nice person but is not the best at teaching. The class is VERY test heavy 60% of your grade so you cant not learn the material or ypu will fail. Find another teacher unless you are willing to spend extra hours to teacher yourself.
She is a caring and wonderful person and tries, but her teaching style is not the best, she tends to over complicate simple equations and definitions(she gave us an equation to work on and later said we didn't need it), the midterms generally do not correlate to the practice problems on your study guide; I had to teach my self for the most part.
Made me cry every night before exam! The lectures don't help with the midterms that don't even connect or look like the study guide or practice test (she doesn't make them, the online HW does), look for another teacher she wastes your time by over complicating questions and simple lectures. Take someone else if you can, she's nice but can't teach.
There is a lot of self learning/studying required for this class, I studied every day for a week before each midterm. The concepts are not easy to grasp, no matter how much you go to class. She wants everyone to do well and tries to make sure everyone understands but,her fast-paced/complicated explanations are difficult. If you study you will be ok.
The worst class i have ever had to Take. I have never felt this stupid until i stepped into her classroom. You cannot understand a single concept she explains and usually just reads of powerpoint slides. The exams are worth so much of your grade but are so hard. Homework is a waste of time and so complicated. Final is optional but you will need it
She is a teacher who says a bunch of words, and it doesn't make sense. She made my class do presentations for points that weren't helpful and didn't have anything to do with what we were learning. You basically had to teach yourself everything. She just reads off the PowerPoint slides. The tests also weighed too much. Tutoring didn't even help.
I know I got a C in the class(As an usual A+ student), I am probably part of the reason tho. I feel ratings are too harsh cause she is pretty helpful, and if you do not go to office hours, it's your fault. I almost failed this class, which to me was easy, but those exams weighed a lot. If it wasnt the exam being weighed alot, I shouldve gotten a A.
She is very sweet, but class is difficult. The homework is long, but if you actually engage in the concepts, it's manageable. It wasn't an easy A, but again, if you actually engage, it is possible. Prof. actually does want to help students and will pause to answer questions, but it's a matter of how much you want to work at learning Econ.
Professor Elena is the best economics teacher I have ever had. I never had to read what she taught me in her class because her explanations were very clear, so all I had to do was practice questions regarding the topic she taught. Her office hours were really helpful too to clarify doubts and understand how to furthur improve to ensure success.
Very hard to understand her lectures and her explanations, but she is very caring. A lot of homework.
