This is the worst class i haver taken. she changes her mind about what she wants every five seconds. blames her bad teaching on the fact that we do not have proper computer skills yet she is the one who has to call for help with the projector everyday.
don't take this teacher ever! especially if you're an undergraduate student taking international health b/c it's all about asia and really boring!!!
This class is super easy. It may be boring at first, but you'll find it to be very interesting later. Theres 4 assignments. The first 3 everyone got full credit for, the last one is graded. The midterm is take home, and the final is open note (the class persuaded her to allow the notes)!
Boring! She is crazy at times. Says one thing then expects something else from us. Thankfully open notes for final and take home midterm even though it was a lot of writing. She is a graduate teacher and this is only the 2nd time she taught ug. Hard but easy with notes.
TERRIBLE TEACHER. only showed up about half the time, insulted us for various unwarranted things including, but not limited to, having poor grammar, being unable to use the computer, and being undergraduate students. she hadn't even given us any assignments to base her negative opinions on until halfway through the semester. don't take her.
Some students who do not pay attention to her, or do not show up in her class were complaining about her, but I thought she is a wonderful teacher. I had a very good learning experience, and the assignments and the exams are clear(As long as you pay attention to her.) She is very flexible. Aproachable.
Boring, all she talks about is China and Thailand. The movies she shows are outdated and impossible to understand because of accents/language. She NEVER responds to emails. I had her one night a week and dreaded every minute of it. Nice woman but DRY! Very biased to her own culture. She is very intelligent but I would NOT recommend her.
way chill professor. everything is curved. My friend and i thought we were getting a D and ended up getting a B and B+. You mite not like her lectures or her bias toward asian countries, but god dang it you have to respect her. very inteligent lady. and yes i would
It's all about "Yu".. That pretty much sums it up for me.
She's ridiculous when it comes to powerpoint slides & tons of useless graphs. There is no book for the class, so you HAVE to print out ALL the lecture notes. Knows a lot about the subject but her lectures become boring after a while. Thank goodness for Dr. Graf! I would never take another class with this woman.
Terrible teacher. Class simply consists of you listen to her read of her slides. Only 100 points available in the entire class. Quizes cover a rediculous amount of material and are worth only 10-15 points. Youll get your work back weeks late. Final had almost nothing to do with her 'review for final'. Says shes never had an A student, no CURVE.
Horrible teacher, lost my midterm and I had to go to the department about it for her to finally look for it to give me a grade, ,just reads off power points, quizzes are worth nothing and are way to difficult, way too difficult for a upper division general ed class, don't take it!
Though most may think that Yu isn't the greatest teacher, a college student who actually intends to learn & attend class would think otherwise. Yu uses a lot of anecdotes & really useful and interesting videos to teach her class, all which correspond to her lectures. She may not be the easiest teacher to understand but still shares great info.
This class is hard! Don't take it, especially if you're just trying to get upper-division GE credit. I took this credit/no-credit, and barely made it. Yu gives you 10 pages of notes each day (all Powerpoint, six slides per page), and has hard quizzes and tests. Avoid Yu like the plague (which, by the way, you won't learn about).
I am writing in response to a comment below, I passed PH294 Fall07 with an 'A'. I am that A student. The class is very straightforward. It builds a good foundation. Write your own notes, instead of highlighting the Powerpoint slides.
She is a horrible teacher, she talks way too about her achievements and doesn't focus on teaching the subject. Her power points are ridiculously long and she reads off of them. Most of the information on the quiz she doesn't go over. Her study guides are useless if she even provides one. All in all this is class is horrible.
This class is easy as long as you go to class and "pay attention" to what she "emphasizes" and the "colored print" on the power points. There is no textbook, but the power points make up for that. U definitely learn a lot in this class.
I agree w/ 5/9/08's entry. Study guides R helpful but U better read PPs 2! Pay attention 2 colored text on PPs! Quizzes via projection, tests R tricky/impossible. PPs R endless, xtra credit project is waste of time/effort, all groups failed. Barely passed, DONT take if looking 4 upper GE credit; effort doesn't pay off. Dont buy books-not tested!
very useful class
Ok. I have a mix feeling for this class & prof. It's an interesting class. exam are hard but shud be easy if you know what she emphasizes in + read the PPs. However, I found this class boring + never have the excitement to go to class.. she's a nice prof, but a lot of times she went off topic and every test worths 30%. 3 exams = 90% + group project
Very knowledgeable. PH362 can be used for Upper Division GE. Only 2 tests and a final and one small power point group project. Lectures are a waste of time because she only goes through power points that she posts online but you get credit for attendance (although it's not mandatory). Very nice professor.
I didn't really think she's hard at all. She's nice and she tells you whats important and what's going to be on the test. I missed couple of lectures, just make sure you study the PPs, it helps alot.Go to lectures cuz I think that helped my grade go up.
class was boring, but the professor is really bad.. dont take this class if you dont have to
Don't buy the book. Lectures STRAIGHT from powerpoints online. There are only 2 tests, but they are HARD. There were only 30 scantron questions, so if you miss 5, your SCREWED! Be careful, she is very intellegent and nice, but the tests can do you in because there aren't many opportunities to get points.
Very smart, very helpful, loves her subject, but jeez she gives us WAY too much information for 3 30 questions tests. 10-15 ppts per exam with 50+ slides on each one, plus articles, new reports to read. Way too much. Needs to keep it to what we need for the exam. Take any other explorations B class, except for SOC 355, that ones no good either.
I liked this class, and I managed to get an A,but it wasn't easy.Go to the lectures-there is a LOT of info on the ppt slides, but she will usually mention which slides are most important.I recorded all the lect so I could review, and made about 1000 flash cards. Her test quest. are awful.Lots of double neg ("Which is not false"). Hang in there.
Probably one of the worst professors I've at SDSU, but she is hard to avoid for Public Health classes. She goes through slides really quickly, 90% of the time she calls technical support, she doesn't answer emails. She's very specific on assignments and tests. Tests are worded weird. All around a weird and unclear professor. Good luck.
Nightmare!Grades papers really hard, tests are ridiculous, sleeps through guest lectures, and DOES NOT CARE!!! Don't do it, you will regret it.
She is the worst teacher ever. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!! She is AWFUL!
Don't take her classes! She gives way too much info to study for 3 20question tests and doesn't narrow it down. Some test questions were not even covered in the lecture or book! She extremely disorganized sometimes taking up to 3 weeks to grade a test(scantron!) Take a class with a different teacher
Worst teacher I have ever has in my life. SO MUCH information and a 20 question test. If you miss 5 you fail basically. In the end she ended up curving so you might get lucky (even though she says she doesn't curve) Everyone couldn't stand this teacher!
Overall hard teacher, but if you read and do your work you will pass the course.
Extremely unorganized & unclear about class expectations. Never responded to a single email I sent her. She really did not seem to care when students voiced their concerns. Unfortunately, you can't really avoid taking her class due to the budget cuts.
Unorganized as hell and shows total disregard for the education of her students. More focused on her real estate career than for her gig as a teacher. If you can avoid her do it, she SUCKS!!!
At first you'll like her because she's funny & you'll wonder where all these negative comments come from. Then you'll realize that she doesn't respond to e-mails, DISORGANIZED (she forgot we had a midterm) and no one knows how to study for her tests because her lectures are ridiculous and she doesn't care if we don't understand the material.
She was very unclear about what was going to be on the tests and what she wanted for class assignments. Very disorganized. She will go through a 100 slide powerpoint in about ten minutes and expect you to know it because it's "common sense". Does not care about her students opinions at all . Try to avoid her
Grades were due last week, and she still hasn't submitted her grades for our class :( Overall she's an interesting person, tests are tricky because they're worded strangely and there's lots of information. She doesn't respond to e-mail, but will give you her cell #. I learned a lot in this class and liked the Dr. Yu very much.
PH Students cannot avoid this teacher but I suggest to those who are planning to take an explorations class-- AVOID HER!!! Whatever the people below me mentioned are all true!!!
She has an interesting background which she always tells you about... and goes over two powerpoints for 2hrs 30 min or puts on two movies that are semi outdated on international health. AS the comment below me said try to avoid her if you can and if you are a Public Health major your screwed you can't avoid her just pass the multiple choice tests
Tough class. You need to study, study, and study the millions of powerpoints for this class. There were two exams, a few quizzes, and 5 problem sets that each had an online assessment that were worth a lot of points, but luckily she gave us about 3 tries for three or four of the assessments.Held a few weekend study sessions but it didn't it help me
This professor is good! If you want to learn, you will. Yes, you have to study, study! I got an A by paying attention, going to class & reading power points. Not ever professor in your college experience will be your fav but she was one of mine!
Hard Class! To do well, read lecture notes. In-class quizzes and exams are hard!! So Study, study for them! I hate the way how she words her exams (its very confusing). Though, you will learn a lot from this class. She allowed us to retake the online quizzes which really boosted my grade. Final was tricky but I was still able to get an A.
Lots of lecture notes! Exams are easy if you study from the lectures notes. Just read carefully bc her wording is weird&tricky. 2 midterms, a group assign. and 1 cumulative final. Do extra credit assigns. to maintain an A. lots of interesting guest speakers and they are tested on the midterm&final.
She makes the class interesting with her personal stories!!! Amusing movies!! She has good taste in movie selection. You have to know all lecture materials to get a good grade. She rairly emails so text or call her cell , she texts right away
HORRIBLE teacher. The material is not difficult & is interesting, but cannot counter Elena Yu's lack of teaching skills. She doesn't answer emails, doesn't clarify anything, if you ask questions she will put you down, her info is outdated, & she barely gives any test questions compared to the stack of lecture notes. p.s. the answer E. all of above.
I loved Dr. Yu's class. Call or text if you want to contact her, DO NOT EMAIL. Study all her materials, especially the bold/bright words in lecture. Lecture ppts. may be extensive, but it is valuable information. Go to class, it will help your grade. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND YOU TAKING DR. YU. :]
I really like Prof. Yu. I have been at SDSU 2 semesters and she is my fav and I learned the most in her classes. You work hard but study power points and pay attention the the bold red. Worth my tuition money!!
Very knowledgeable. Come to class eager to learn, you will do fine. Her lectures are sometimes boring, most of what she wants you to know is in colored print. I thought I was going to get a C in the class but ended with an A-. She wants you to learn, not rely on the points for grades.
Shes a nice old lady who really wants you to learn and understand the concepts she teaches. She is the ONLY one that teaches 301 & 302, sorry PH student, you are stuck taking her classes @ NIGHT. Her exams are HARD. To do well, ask questions and read her power points. PPTs have like 100 slides with a lot of info (good luck reading everything)!
Dr Yu is a great teacher. I took her for both 301 and 302. She is intelligent and discussions are interesting. I love that she takes into consideration the cultural differences and opinions, because cultural belief has such a huge influence on public health delivery. 301 was easy, but 302 is very hard!
I actually had this professor under three classes for one semester and found absolutely no problem with her teaching abilities. On a scale of 1 to 10 for helpfulness, I'd say she's a 9.5 and shows concern for her students' academic success.
we watched movies most of the time and didn't give grades on exams until the end of semester didn't like her teaching method
Really hard tests, really boring lectures, and she hardly lets you go early. The format of the tests make it so that you need to know basically everything on her lectures (pay attention to the red highlighted phrases). However, I thought I was going to finish with a C and ended up with an A, probably because she showed the whole class mercy.
Work hard and you can get a good grade. She really cares about her students even though a lot of people are rude and complain about having to work for their grade. Very knowledgable of the subject and is willing to help if you ask.
All you do is watch movies and take a quiz right after on the movie and from the previous lecture, if you study the bold and color highlighted parts you should be ok. Not going to lie the 2 test are hard but thought i would get a C in the class an actually got an A
awful professor. so rude to students, very defensive whenever someone asks a question, tests are hard, DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU DON'T HAVE TOO
She is so rude and unfair in how she grades exams. She will call you stupid and tell you that you aren't fit to be a PH major. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU DONT HAVE TO
Worst professor I have had at state. Class is so boring, she clearly hates the US, so I have no idea why she still lives here. She is extremely rude to her students, don't ask her any questions. She always shows up to class at least 15 min late, and has no idea on how to operate anything electronic. Literally horrible. Ended with a B-
Great professor, intelligent and hardworking but poor delivery. You can tell that Dr Yu cares but the way she delivers her messages are very demeaning and discouraging. Work hard, study a lot, attend lectures, study bold and red concepts, be strong and don't take it personally. Calculated a B but left with an A thanks to sleepless nights.
Probably the worst professor I have had. She is kind some times, but mostly rude and demeaning. One EC offered, but other than that only two tests + final made up my grade. PPTs are bogged down with a TON of info. Bad delivery of information. Try to avoid her
I used to think her negative reviews were from people who wanted to get an A without learning or studying for that grade. But that was not true. She is the worst professor have EVER had. PH 301and 362 are based on data from 2005/2007. Her exams are written the night before. She is extremely disorganized and changes test dates a week prior!
she is the worst thing to happen to teaching. she sent out an email at 11pm the night before a midterm saying that she was adding a powepoint with 82 slides on it. super disorganized, does not care about teaching anymore, and ALWAYS has mistakes on her tests. she sets a high curve at the end of the semester which is the only good thing about her
I LOVE PUBLIC HEALTH so I loved this class. I enjoyed going to class but the lectures are LONG. Her tests are CRAZY !!! Not hard BUT you have to study EVERYTHING. Go to every class,it will help with familiarity when taking the test.
Her lectures are long and fast paced, only if you attend lecture will you know what is on the test because she tells you. I thought i was going to get a D and got a B-. I didn't really enjoy her teaching method, but i will be back to take another class with her. the final curve is good. I think Int Health is to broad therefore hard.
Professor is really sweet and very knowledgeable. There is not required text which is nice because you save money! Her lecture are a bit face paced but as long as you print the lectures you'll be fine. She doesn't take attendance however shows a lot of movies which are you tested on. I suggest you attend each class.
Very rude and makes you feel stupid for asking a simple question for clarification. Very unorganized and unhelpful. All powerpoint lectures. No hw, 2 exams, and a final. Confusing/hard/not straightforward test questions and many "which is not" = know every slide like the back of your hand. Curves final grade heavily. Dreaded going to this class.
I understand the mean comments about her. The problem is how she states questions on tests. Sometimes there is content that was not discussed that will be part of the answer so you cry after. It was hard to keep a high grade. lots of movies and quizzes. BEWARE OF QUIZ RIGHT AFTER THE MOVIE/ LECTURE NOTES! (all power point, no textbook)
PROFESSOR IS THE WORST EVER, SWEET AND NICE BUT IS ALWAYS LATE, TALK SOFTLY, AND NEVER EVER REPLIES TO EMAILS. AVOID IF POSSIBLE
If you can avoid her. She is a horrible teacher who blames everyone else but herself for anything that goes wrong. She seems kind but don't be fooled. She lectures before exams. There are no homeworks just 5-6 question quizzes every other week and two exams. Tests are hard to understand, only writes questions like "which one is not true?"
I have taken this professor for 2 different courses one was an elective & the other req. for the major. If i had a choice, I would have not taken this professor. She is very rude and harsh. She goes off the roster 1 by 1 to pass out examswaste of time. She talks down on her students and her exams are difficult. "Which one is false?"
I took this class as an elective course and wished I looked up this website before I did. Professor was constantly late to class, like 20-30 minutes, gave long, detailed lectures from PowerPoints containing 50-80 slides! Quizzes and Tests were confusing, and required to watch something over 10 films outside class. Only good thing - no textbook!
In a nutshell, this course was the worst. There is no book. The lectures are comprised of her blowing through 100+ slides and repeating "read this on your own." Tests suck. Basically every question is formatted like this: "Which of the following is NOT true?" A-D would have nothing to do with each other and E would say "none of the above" Come. On.
Over all this class was horrible. Avoid at all costs! She curves the class at the end thankfully, but it's not worth it one bit! Tests are impossible, lecture is impossible to sit through, and she doesn't help you with anything.
DO NOT take this class if you have choice!!!! Professor is unbelievable!!! With super long lecture, super unorganized PowerPoint, super difficult test questions!!! And never respond email or phone! Calculate wrong points!!!she gave bonus points in the exam but she calculate those bonus points into actual points in the end. DO NOT take !!!!!!
Disorganized, forgets to explain assignments well or forgets them all together. International health is very boring don't take her or that class! She uses double negatives in her exam questions which is annoying. Avoid.
She does base all of her tests after her power point lectures. I think she has a lot of knowledge and experience to share. Her tests have a lot of "All of the above" answers, but that means you actually have to know the material in order to get the correct answer. She is not as bad as everyone says! Go to class and pay attention! I got a B+!
She makes the class more difficult than it needs to be. Bombards students with excessive information . Forgets what she covers and is either repetitive or misses information. At times it is difficult, even for her, to justify her poorly written questions. While I don't dislike her as a person, she is one of the worst teachers I've ever had.
Well... just be positive when you're sitting in class. There are much more worst things in life than being in this class. I'm sure she's a sweet lady outside of the classroom. Whatever she says, just go along with it. Goodluck. Weekly quizzes, 3 exams. No homework. No textbook needed.
Lots of people do not like Yu. However, I really learned a lot of things in her class. With no doubt, lectures are long, but informative and worth to read. Exam are pretty difficult, but if you familiar with the material you will be fine. There is no trick question. If you truly want to learn something and ready to put your efforts, recommended.
Just took the final. The questions were not in numerical order. Very unprofessional. She has high standards for students yet doesn't adhere to them herself. If you take her class, memorize the pp!!
Dr. Yu is a nice lady. PH 301 isn't a difficult course, but the way she teaches the course makes it confusing. The lecture slides are long! but everything on the two midterms &final comes from the lectures. Dr. Yu makes you work for your grade, but it's worth it cause you do learn a lot from it (I did). Stay positive, study HARD, & you will pass!
Basically get at least a C or D on all tests, do decent on the quizzes, and get all extra credit points and you will pass with a B. Other than that her tests questions are all "which one is false?", shes constantly late, she bombards you with information when her tests are only 25-30 questions and she does not know the answers to her own tests.
Professor Yu's lectures are long but interesting on what she has to say. There are many guest lectures so pay attention because they will be on Midterms & Finals. If you miss class after quizzes you miss out on extra credit points. No textbook just a lot of slides to know. She is tough but if you show that you are improving you will pass.
Elena is super rad and she just wrote me a letter of recommendation. She's tough but she just expects you to actually understand the material and not just memorize sections for exams.
Dr. Yu gives very long lectures, coming to class is not always mandatory but very helpful to know what is being taught in case vital information is given that day. Overall review the PowerPoint slides thoroughly, she will give you a heads up on what to put more emphasis for exams. Lastly text or meet up after class it shows you care- better grade.
The worst professor I have had at SDSU. She makes the class extremely difficult by giving ridiculously long lectures. Her tests are poorly written and goes over the exam with the class - this results in an argument between the class and professor over which answer is correct. So devastating that there is not another professor for this course....
do not take her if you can avoid it! shes all over the place and doesnt know what she's doing half the time. her tests are all which one of these is false, she has her own answers wrong, never told us what our final exam grades were or the final project, so our grade was just what we got without explanation JUST DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES
Dr. Yu is clearly very smart and has a ton of experience in public health, so I found that she had some very interesting stories to tell, but she struggles a lot with keeping up with the class. The tests are very confusingly written. She gave us little input to how the group project would be graded and interrupted every presentation which was rude.
Like stated, Dr. Yu is extremely smart and obviously an expert in public health. However, she manages to be the most disorganized prof i've ever had. If you need to reach her, text is the best option. Lectures are a bore since she reads straight off ppt, huge curve because her exam format is impossible unless you have an incredible memory.
Failed EVEY SINGLE exam of hers for 301. like, hard core. To a point where she sent out an email to the whole class stating that 7 people had a high chance of failing her class (I was one of them). Somehow, someway, I passed with a C+ even though I failed every exam. I legit studied for her exams though, they're brutal. good luck
One of the worst professors I have ever had. Disorganized Pseudo-science lectures Just study your lectures at home and you'll be fine. I learned nothing new about healthcare as a topic that I had not already known prior to the course
Reads off of the wordy powerpoint verbatim. Exams and quizzes are worded confusingly and unclearly. "Which is False." Misplaced my group presentation days before the deadline was due. Highly disorganized. Pushes her own agenda on pseudo-science. Creates an uncomfortable environment. Can't even ask a question without being mocked. Straight up RUDE.
Lectures are long and boring but she gives you a lot of opportunities to succeed. Multiple attempts on quizzes and an online midterm. Group project is tough because of how vague she is, but if you record your presentation she doesn't interrupt to ask questions and she likes when you record the powerpoint so that's a plus. Final is hard. Good luck.
if you don't have to take her class DO NOT but if you do, you will do fine just be prepared for what feels like the longest lecture of your life and pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee take a shot every time she says " when I was at John Hopkins"
She is probably the most insensitive professor I have ever had. I am not sure why she continues to teach, it doesn't seem like she cares to. Gooooood luck if you need to take her. Her classes are strenuous and long. I have never received one positive critique from this professor, she always has something negative to say. Her class isn't fun or easy
Unfortunately, she is a horrible teacher. Her lectures are very video heavy. She assigns additional videos and docs to read outside of class. BB emails are annoying and inconsistent. I honestly did not learn ANYTHING in this class.
Not a very good teacher. I didn't learn anything from her. The guest speakers were much better at teaching and were more enjoyable. I did not learn anything from this course.
I loved her! I heard bad things about her, but she is full of knowledge and experience! She tells you how it is and is hilarious with her straightforwardness. There are many quizzes, but they are very easy. Her exams are easy as well if you just pay attention to the lecture notes and videos she shows.
I've had Professor Yu in two classes, the first one was for PH 362 which was not so bad. The second time for PH 301 was the worst. She is very monotone when lecturing, stares at the ground, and has no passion. The first portion of the class was not hard, its a lot of quizzes that are online and she reads basically word for word. Good luck!
I took 362 over COVID. No textbook, use her slide lectures to study. Every class she lectures/watch videos. She messages you if you leave class early. She is rude! Do not take her class. You can do well on quizzes with the midterm and final are impossible. I'm not sure how I can pass this class and I am a straight A student!
The grade is based on quizzes (you get multiple attempts), midterm (proctored), group presentation, and the final (proctored). She won't give you points back even when she says you marked the right answer... she is rude... do not take her at any cost unless it is mandatory! I am sorry if you have to take her. we told the dean about her, but 10 year
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER. She goes over the given lecture time regularly, will not proofread her tests before giving them and insults students when students ask questions. She is incredibly rude and will not answer questions in regards to how her tests and final are set up. I REPEAT. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IF IT CAN BE AVOIDED.
AWFUL professor. The worst at SDSU. Do not take her. This was my first and last time. I changed my units just to avoid having to take another PH class with her. She's not understanding thinks the world revolves around her class, she's ignorant, rude, goes over the 2hrs and 40 mins class time consistently, monotone, reads off a powerpoint all class.
WARNING: DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE!! Professor Yu is one of the WORST PROFESSORS AT STATE. She just reads off of the 100+, paragraphs of information slides that are absolutely unless. ALL of the quizzes/exams are always which statement is not true, not to mention the insane amount of grammatical errors through them. BEWARE!!! DONT TAKE!!!!
I was surprised to read so many negative reviews. Dr. Yu is an incredible professor and though her exams are difficult and the information load is heavy, you learn SO much. She is very accessible outside of class and really cares about her students are her teaching! I will for sure take another class in the future.
Terrible professor! Possibly, one of the worse at State! I'm not sure who could even give her a good review (it's probably her) considering she acknowledged that she had poor reviews, and asked her students to give her good ones. She doesn't know how to teach, and simply reads off her slides. Your grade is based on: group project, quizzes, final
Tough grader and extremely straightforward. However, I found her teaching methods effective and helpful. NOT AN EASY A!!! But the content provided is interesting, useful, and important! She is also available after class and during office hours to help with group projects, assignments, and any questions/commentary for further discussion.
No textbook. 6 quizzes with 3 attempts and the same questions but in a different order and not proctored. Midterm and Final are not proctored, 50 questions that are T/F and multiple choice. Class is a lecture based on PowerPoint and maybe movies. You can Control F the quizzes too :) Be nice!!!!! follow her instructions, and you'll get an A!
big group project, was very harsh with grading and feedback given in front of entire zoom class. professor is intimidating, unclear with expectations for group project which counts for 30% of overall grade. final also counts for a big percentage, be sure to study for this. weekly quizzes about powerpoints with hundreds of slides
worst professor ive ever had
Listen to all the other reviews I wish I would have. Worst professor I ever had through all my years at college. Do not take this class.
she was so bad, i wanna give her a 0. but thats not possible, so I give her a 1.
Not sure why people graded her badly and gave her bad reviews. Yes she is lecture heavy and her quizzes are difficult. However, she is ALWAYS available to help with literally any questions or concerns. You will have a huge group project but reach out to her early and she will help you every step of the way. Just pay attention, study, ask for help.
I have never had this type of micromanager prof before. She wants to be very involved. Fair. But, she contradicts herself, belittles people who ask questions, and gives corrections without really reading your work. I liked all information in the course, it's very interesting, but prof Yu is the kind to make a student cry in class and not care.
This is the worst professor I've ever had in college, and the worst teacher I've had in all my years of schooling. Please avoid this class at all costs. I ignored the reviews on Rate my professor before I took this class because I thought I would be fine and that's the worst decision I ever made. She's just mean spirited and lectures are dreadful!!
Words cant discribe the amount of regret I felt taking this course. I wish I have not taken this class. Worse professor I have ever taken in my entire life. Do not take for your own sanity and well-being. All the reviews down below are 100% true.
PROS: Quizzes have 3 tries with a randomized pool of questions. CONS: This class feels like a 6 unit class with all the amount of work she expects you to do. Get ready to watch 10-20 minute videos just to find an answer to a single question. Do what she wants, u can't be too creative in your projects. Stock up on coffee, you're gonna need it.
You have quizzes every week, but you have 3 tries. However, the questions are worded in a confusing way, there are 20 of them, and you have to watch like 4 10 minute long videos prior to the quizzes on top of the lecture notes. She is not good with technology and lost my assignments I turned it and didn't give me credit after I turned them twice.
She wants her students to succeed. While attendance doesn't effect your grade, she definitely notes who is present. She will help you + ur grade if you are present and make it known you care. If you skip her class and don't do your group work she will call you out. Her tests are hard (she words things odd) A tough class, however easier than epi.
Don't walk-RUN from this class. TAKE THIS CLASS OVER THE SUMMER WITH SOMEONE ELSE. She teaches WRONG info (things that are disproven/are largely refuted scientifically). Once told us a 20min homophobic anecdote about how her nephew is gay because his mom was in an abusive relationship. Confusing waste of time. Quizzes/final are so bad.
