Great teacher, just the material is hard.
Good teacher, hasn't been teaching very long. Take him though cause compared to my last teacher he was 100% better.
Dr. Eli is a wonderful professor, Chemistry is not my strong suit but I came out of his class with a B! He is always willing to help you, and has study sessions every week. Do the practice test and you will do fine.
Dr. Eli was absolutely AWESOME! I was failing at the beginning of the semester, but I came to him for help every day, and he showed me hoe to work out all of my homework problems so that I wouldn't get them wrong. He is always willing to lend out a helping hand, even through phone calls and e-mails! He will help you pass if you come to him for help
Always rushes in lab. More like an independent study class(which every chem lab at ECU is). The good thing is less stress on student b/c grading is not as vindictive as the other professors that teach labs.
he is a very nice professor, always helpful and easy going. He could have made the lab much harder than what it was but he always consulted us back and gave chances to redo or make corrections. On the whole labs are not my forte but he helped me get through the lab and I would reccomend him for this lab
I think he's really good for being a young professor. Tried his best to help us succeed.
I had Eli for CHEM 1160. First, I will add he is SO FINE! He caught me calling him Dr. Sexypants haha. But I did not do well in chemistry before, and he helped me out a lot when I needed it. Attendance is not mandatory but I talked him into taking attendance and pop quizes for credit. Do the study guides and you will do well on the exams.
The best chemistry teacher here!!! TAKE HIM! homework counts as much as a test so if you do your homework you can get an A! material is really hard but if you take eli he will help you alot.
Pretty good teacher. Expects you to have an idea of what you're doing because its not freshmen chemistry anymore. Very sarcastic so don't take anything to heart. Take him if you can he's better than any other professor who teaches this course
Well this profesor is overal good, but the problem is that he messes up in the material for class, and sometimes he seems unsecure of what he is teaching. i will recomend him but i am sure there are better teachers in the Chem department.
This guy is very secure of what he teaches. Sometimes he will even use a safety harness for good measure. He is solid as a rock at the podium and rules the classroom with an iron fist.
This class is suppose to be somewhat challenging but Hvastkovs keeps it interesting. He keeps class entertaining. There is homework for each chapter and daily quizzes and extra credit that are pretty easy if you just show up for class and that really help boost your grade. There are 4 tests and then a cumulative final. Would recommend this class.
Eli is awesome! He is extremely helpful and super easy to talk to. The class is ALWAYS interesting whether he is singing and dancing or making fun of his own mistakes. If you want to enjoy learning Chemistry I highly recommend Dr. E. There are 4 tests and a cummlative final and always extra credit if you attend class!
He's a wonderful professor. He helps you out if you don't understand something and gives tons of extra credit opportunity. There are 4 regular exams and a final and he drops the lowest exam grade if your final is higher. Make sure you take the online homework seriously and you will do fine. Made a B in the class.
Such a smart ass. He always has a really condescending tone but don't let him intimidate you. Visit his office hours and ask questions, you make the grade. There are 4 regular exams and a final and he drops the lowest exam grade if your final is higher. Make sure you take the online homework seriously and you will do fine.
I hated Chemistry with a passion before his class. He always added humor into his lecture, so I didn't dread going to class. Do the masteringchem, the extra credit you'll get offered, and show up for iclickr and youll pass! He does seem to mess up the tests a lot, so that's extra points right there!
This professor has got to be on of my favorites. He is understanding, helpful, will to make as much effort to help you as you are to help yourself. Do yourself a favor and take him for 1160. Plus you might see him play with fire.
Dr. Hvastkovs is one of the coolest teachers. He has a funny sense of humor. He gives study guides for all 4 of his tests and a review session before the test date. HW for Mastering Chem can be a little long, but it prepares you for the test. He does clicker question during the beginning of every class, so attend. Take him for 1160.
best teacher i have ever had!! he is very helpful and actually cares about teaching and making sure his students are learning the material. he makes learning fun and is creative about it. he is young and i think that's a benefit to his students because he is more in tune with how they learn and what they are actually absorbing.
Decent professor but tries too hard to be a buddy to his students. Goofed off so much during lab it became a nuisance and distracting to the students. Intimidates his teaching-assistant who seems to look up to him a lot. He?s fairly new at teaching so hopefully he will get better at being professional.
He is an excellent teacher. If you study, and do the homework, you will do well in his class. I got a B on the first test and A's on the last 3. USE HIS PRACTICE TESTS TO STUDY. They help tremendously. He is very helpful and spent 2 hours emailing me one night because my calculator wasn't getting the correct answer. Very sarcastic and entertaining!
His jokes are annoying. His sense of humor is lame. He is a smart ass. Confusing, HIS answers are always wrong. Always sending emails out about how his practice tests answers are wrong, then they are right, then they are wrong, etc if you go to class every day you might do ok. If you tend to mix things up already in your own head dont take him.
Very good teaher makes everything easy to understand. Make sure you complete all study guides they are very helpful for his test. Test are NOT multiple choice though!!! Which makes it seem like he is trying to set you up for failure. Does not give any type of extra credit. Other than his testing method being really bad he's a good teacher.
Quality teacher, Makes learning chemistry fairly interesting. Quite funny in class, makes chemistry interesting. Provides practice tests that are very similar to the actual test.
i took him 2 semesters in a row for chem 1150 and chem 1160! he is awesome and funny. provides students with a practice test before each exam. im not good at chem but i received a B+ first semester and an A the second semester.
I would not recommend taking Eli. He teaches way to fast and isn't very clear. I had to teach myself everything through the homework, which would take FOREVER! His tests are EXTREMELY HARD. He gives study guides, but they are NOTHING like the test. Doing the study guide doesn't help, I thought so and my best test grade was a 63.
Great professor. His tests are challenging because they are free response, but if you go to class it shouldn't be a problem. Gives plenty of quiz questions for extra credit, and very helpful. I really don't think all these people who gave him bad reviews actually went to class, which could explain their poor performance.
Great teacher and even better to look at!! yummm
Eli makes you feel dumb for asking questions so come prepared for class! He is a harsh grader (especially on papers) and really espects a lot of prior skill before entering the class. He is so hot though....
Great teacher, the lectures are kind of fast but if you printed out the powerpoint then you'll be fine. Practice tests are helpful, lots of easy clicker quizzes in class, he'll crack jokes and tease students (within reason). Pretty cool guy, good teacher, and easily the hottest teacher I've ever had.
He is a fun teacher, but i found the class hard, he keeps you interested with Clicker questions and his test do not prepare you for the final, he gives you opportunity to ask questions, but doesnt answer them well, you have to have a specific learning style to succeed
Dr. Eli's instructional style includes a plethora of sarcasm, a bit of Breaking Bad, daily clicker quizzes, and non-curved open-ended exams. This class is tough, but a decent grade is attainable if you put forth the effort. I am disappointed there was no final grade curve--isn't that why there was no curve on the class exams? Regardless, take him.
If you have an issue with staying focused during class don't take him, I spent most of my time concentrating on how incredibly good looking he is. Best professor I have had at ECU but if you can't handle a joke don't take him if you have a sense of humor he's perfect he's more of a friend than a professor and he is so freaking hot but married :/
Excellent teacher& class overall. Not only is he clear &explains everything step by step but he is also very helpful&will not hesitate to give you all of his time if you show him that you are welling to learn.I was 3rd language speaker&he put all his effort to make sure I understood everything he taught us.Taking him wont be regretful! He's the BEST.
Eli is a great teacher and knows the material he is teaching. Anybody that did bad in his class obviously didn't go to class or do the study guides. The study guides are almost identical to the test. The final was a little challenging but what chem final isn't?
Good teacher, but you HAVE to go to class or you will fail. All test are open-ended and a pain in the butt, but if you pay attention and show up to class there should be no problem. Go to class, pay attention and do homework!!!
This professor will waste your time. He has an inconsistent teaching method, praising students one day and mocking them the next. He severely disappointed me with his lack of clarity and his condescension. If you take his class, you are on your own for understanding material and are not provided any clarification.
Awesome chem professor! His sense of humor makes lectures entertaining. The end of lectures, tells students topics to go over for exams. He is very willing to help students who make an actual effort. I would highly recommend this professor.
One of the big reasons I showed up to class, was to stare at him for the entirety of the class period. If you are extremely distracted by good looking married guys, then don't take this class. Other than that, he is an amazing teacher and really goes over the material well. Although sometimes he can be a little offensive
Best professor in ECU!!
Really hott plus a really good teacher. if you have the chance to his class take it. test are just like the practice test.
Eli is the best! Super nice and extremely helpful! He knows lectures aren't fun for anyone so he tries to make them as interesting as possible. Go to his office hours! He helps you so much and is really nice. Chemistry is the hardest class I have ever taken but he was an amazing teacher! I would definitely take it again.
Go to class because there are clicker quizzes in the lecture that count for your grade and extra points extra credit. Do the practice exams because they are very similar to the actual exams. Overall, the class isn't tough and Dr. Eli is a good professor who makes class more interesting.
Great way to start my morning bc he was hilarious. Clicker questions every day but provides lots of extra credit. Goes through material quickly & expects you to understand it, but is available to help outside of class. Tests are tough & include 20 multiple choice worth 75 pts & an open ended section worth 75 pts. Failed a test & finished w B+
Favorite teacher this semester, he provides a lot of helpful resources so students can do well in his class. Going to class is a must, but he gives a lot of extra credit opportunities ex: clicker quizzes. He provides study guides for each one of his exams which you must do to get a good grade. Go to PTC, the review sessions, and take all 4 tests!!!
Definitely take Hvastkovs if you can. Im very average in chem and made a good grade in his class. He gives alot of extra credit so take advantage of that. He is a good teacher that makes class interesting so go to class to get clicker points. Make sure to take all 4 tests
Great professor, very helpful during office hours
Professor Hvastkovs is a very fun professor to have. He can make class enjoyable even though it's chemistry, which says a lot. The homework is really long and difficult but helps a lot in the long run. The tests are really hard but he gives some extra points. I would definitely recommend Eli Hvastkovs!
Professor Hvastkovs is one of the best professors I've ever had. He's hilarious which makes the lectures easier to get through. Tests are semi-difficult but passable if you study and go to the reviews. Offers lots of extra credit which is great! Overall an amazing professor.
Eli is a good professor most of the lectures are not thoroughly taught because of the time limit in class. He can be rude one moment and nice and witty the next. Be prepared to truly learn. Also attend class everyday clicker points add up.
Great professor! Attendance is optional but you need to go in order to learn the material, plus you get points for going to class which add up. Tests are tough but if you study they are not impossible. Also do the homework because it will help your grade in the end. He's hilarious and makes the class as interesting as he can. Definitely recommend
Professor Hvastkovs is a VERY good professor, and you are lucky to have him if you have the opportunity. If you work hard, take good notes in lecture, and do every opportunity for extra credit, you will do just fine in class. GO TO CLASS AND TAKE CLICKER QUIZZES SERIOUSLY! They REALLY helped my grade, and all of the quizzes are good for exam prep!!
Clicker quizzes everyday, which give you tons of extra credit. Tests are reasonable, easy to pay attention in class, only drag is the difficult online homework; but the homework is designed to give you a 99+ if you do the extra credit in that too. Explains things easier during office hours. Likes blonde roast coffee with half&half @ Starbucks!
My favorite teacher I have had at ECU. He has made me have an interest in Chemistry and he is hilarious. He makes it fun to go to class, which I would advise you to go to. His tests are not that difficult if you pay attention and study. CLICKER QUESTIONS WILL BE YOUR BEST FRIEND! Homework may look difficult but use google to find references!
By far the best teacher I've ever had. He makes the material easy to understand and makes the lectures fun to listen to. Try to sit up front and ask lots of questions in class. This class requires that you study hard and complete all of the homework, but as long as you prepare for the tests you'll get a good grade.
Best professor I have ever had. He will take the time to help you and cares if you pass or not
IT DOES NOT GET BETTER THAN HVASTKOVS. Trust me, enjoy it while you can. Clear, straightforward lectures that make the book essentially unnecessary. Just attend class (and pay attention), ask questions and complete the homework. He'll even crack a joke or three, so you don't die of boredom.
Eli is a great and laid back teacher perfect for your first Chemistry class of college. He is super attractive, funny, and relatable. The homework assignments due every week are hard, but if you have a study group they are bearable. The tests aren't too difficult, and he gives study guides that help a lot.
he is super funny and awesome, he will help during office hours, he makes chem fun, gives a lot of extra credit. he does do four test, which you can skip and just take one huge final.
Good prof. Helps out a lot. Very nice and makes the difficult material easier to understand. Go to class and take notes and you will do great.
4 tests u can choose to skip all but the exam will be worth more. 25 pts for taking all 4. Clicker quizzes everyday but if you come everyday, you have more than enough pts, so you can afford to miss classes. Tests are pretty much the clicker quizzes + frq. Free online textbook. Go to his review sessions if you are having trouble, they're helpful.
He is a great professor. Going in I didn't know anything about chem and learned a lot. Attendance is not mandatory but you do clicker questions which if you do all of them give you a lot of extra credit. There is a lot of extra credit that bumped me up from a B+ to an A. He is willing to work with you and make ok joke.
Dr. Hvastkovs made Chemistry bearable. He rambles a lot about random stuff in class, but he at least always tried to make lecture fun. He gave good examples in class when explaining material, and his practice tests are almost identical to the actual exams. He also gives extra credit for the clicker questions we answered in class.
Overall, he is a great professor. He will keep you laughing in class while you learn and offers a lot of extra credit through his clicker points. The exams he gives matches the practice exams that he provides online, so it is easy to study for tests.
I loved Eli and the way the class was set up. You can skip any of the 4 total exams which the points are later bypassed to final. Homework is all on WebAssign; clicker questions in class count as a quiz grade although, it is a great way to earn extra credit (only EC in the class). Visit his office if you need any help!! Skipped 3 exams, made a C+!!
He explains everything really well, and makes chemistry fun! Clicker quizzes are extra credit and really help your grade. He posts exam study guides that are very similar to the actual exam, and always has extra credit questions on the test. Probably my favorite professor at ECU!
Dr. Hvastkovs is an outstanding professor. He made Chem 1150 both entertaining and exceptionally easy to comprehend. His grading criteria and class expectations are beyond fair. Do his practice exams and the Webassigns before the tests and you will be fine.
He was such a good professor! He made chemistry not so bad by giving examples that were connected to things we would know about. He was always energetic in his lectures so he always kept your attention which is something a lot of professors can't do especially with chem.
The best chem professor here at ECU! He is hilarious. Attendance isn't required but you do daily clicker points and those add up at the end as extra credit. Tests are okay, just study before and you will be good. He also provides exam reviews which are very helpful.
He was entertaining in his lectures and really made chemistry easier to understand. You can skip class and pass but I would advise against it since chemistry is tough
He is a VERY tough grader and looks for SPECIFIC answers. I hope you have a sense of humor because he will more than likely call you a moron if you have a question & he's kind of the hind end of a donkey until you get to know him. Very funny guy though. He will definitely challenge you to think long and hard when you ask a question.
Love his teaching style! He's hilarious and it really gets me to pay attention rather than zone out during lecture. He cares about if you pass or not because he gives you tons of extra credit through clicker points, etc. His tests are a lot like the study guides. Web assign is probably the worst part about the class.
Dr. Hvastkovs is an amazing professor! He has a great sense of humor, which makes his lectures extremely interesting. Attendance is not taken, but the daily clicker questions will add up to extra credit. WebAssign is probably the hardest part of this course and study guides are given for the tests. Be sure to study and go to his office hours!
eli is an amazing professor. comes off as a bit mean in lecture but go talk to him during office hours and is extremely helpful and nice. his tests are easy but the material he covers is not, however he offers so much extra credit.
He is a very fun and laid back professor but it is a hard class. He gives A LOT of extra credit through participation quizzes. Study and you will be fine.
I've taken Chem1150 3 times and Chem1160 twice. This professor is the only chem professor I have been able to pass. Go to class, its a small percentage of the grade but you can get a lot of extra credit by just attending and answering clicker questions. I think he is hilarious, others may find his humor distasteful. He is the best chem professor
teaches kinda fast but its manageable and clicker quizzes help! don't spend too much time on write the power points because he posts them but when he writes extra stuff on them, you have to write them down yourself. Loads of extra points so don't worry.
Took Chem I & II summer sessions with Dr. Hvastkovs online (covid summer). Awesome professor. Pre-recorded lectures were fun and interactive with great worked problem examples. He relates topics very well to every day scenarios and explains practical applications to give the material context. Very funny and laid back. Lots of e/c opportunities.
Best chemistry teacher hands down. Had him for CHEM 1150 and 1160 summer 2020 and have never understood chemistry as much as I did with his teaching style. Super willing to help you if you have any questions at all. Would take again!
I see lots of people that love prof. Hvastkovs, and I understand why. He is a very good teacher and if you actually put effort into studying, quizzes, and ESPECIALLY homework you will 100% get a good grade in this class. However, whenever I contacted him outside of class, he was rude, self absorbed, and unhelpful. Good teacher, so-so person.
He is the best. I would definitely recommend. Do the homework and take notes on his lectures and take advantage if he does review sessions because it helps!
This man is the greatest he just wants you to understand the concepts he doesnt over complicate things and he makes things simplified to be able to explain to a six-year-old which I feel like is the ultimate sign of intelligence. Hes funny and caring and hes good at responding quickly to emails.
Dr. Hvastkovs is absolutely hilarious. Now the class was chemistry so naturally I didnt do so hot. But dude he is a great professor, chemistry teachers who I enjoy are 1 in a million and he was one of them. Dont pass up a good opportunity and take this guy.
Eli was a funny guy but I wouldnt of passed his class if I didnt attend tutoring 2-3 days a week if you can get a different professor unless you are just a wiz at chem. Keep in mind I came from having a 97 in chem 1150 to getting a C- in 1160. Not going to lie, he made me hate chem so Im confused why hes getting good feedback.
Eli is a great teacher. He is hilarious and entertaining in lectures, so it helps you stay engaged. His class was one of the classes I genuinely enjoyed going to. He gives a ton of extra credit through in-person turning point quizzes, so coming to class is important. I finished with a really high A because of the extra credit points
i had him over the summer so it was online. his lectures were very helpful and quite funny. he tries to relate the material to real-life stuff. i did not like the homework however. it was super annoying and very stressful at times. tests were a little difficult but it is chemistry. overall a good professor. i enjoyed him.
I don't know why this white male getting so much praise his jokes are highly inappropriate thinks everyone is a party kid or a straight A student and you go to his office the nice funny guy isn't so nice or funny. He made jokes about SA who think SA IS FUNNY?
Professor knows his subject matter for sure and teaches it decent. Plays favorites in the class and tells jokes that bely his immaturity. I hired him to be my Analytical Chem teacher, not a stand-up comedian. For this I gave him a poor grade, though I did very well in the class.
Profesor Hvastkovs is an overall amazing teacher, he interacts with students and always knows how to make people laugh even while teaching. His teaching methods are excellent and he can for sure always put a smile on your face.
his lectures are really clear to understand. going to class and doing the homework helps a lot.
There are few assignments for his class so do well on what you receive. That means lectures are heavy, so pay attention if you go to class. There is a textbook but his lectures are generally good enough so you probably won't use the textbook. He doesn't review the exams so if you struggle, expect to go to office hours. He has constant dry humor.
Dr. Hvastkovs is an amazing chemistry professor. The material is taught in an engaging way, and is straightforward. Take notes and go to class, go to office hours, and set aside a week to heavily review before the tests. If you have any questions, go up and ask. He is always willing to help students who work hard. I would highly recommend him.
Dr. Hvastkovs' lectures make an otherwise complex subject quite manageable and entertaining. He assigned short and helpful homework assignments through BeSocratic, and uses pointsolutions mini quizzes to keep us engaged during class. Each of the 4 exams and the final were very fair and directly related to the content discussed in class.
I took him because he had such positive reviews in the past, but the chemistry curriculum changed and he did not do a good job of teaching the new material. The homework assignments don't really match with what he's saying in class. His lectures are all over the place and it can be hard to follow what he's saying.
Overall, he's ok. Really funny but does not always explain the information fully. It's a shot in the dark trying to figure out what is going to be on the test. He's REALLY good at explaining certain things but kind of bad at others. His worksheets help a lot though so complete those. He'll help you pass. Chemistry is not easy.
I really enjoyed Dr. Hvastkovs, he made his lectures engaging and entertaining. When I struggled with my first two exams, he sat with me for almost an hour and went over exactly where I was going wrong. He even rounded up my C+ to a B- at the end of the semester. I'm very excited to take him again for CHEM1160!
Decent prof, gives extra points. GO TO CLASS & YOU WILL GET AN A! Only complaint is he kinda has inappropriate/offensive jokes. Would be 10/10 if he was professional with his students.
Excellent professor, helpful office hours, explains material well in class. Keeps class light and is absolutely hilarious. If only chemistry was easy.
His office hours are great. Lectures are good depending on the day but I blame that on how much he has to teach within 50 minutes. He's hilarious and pretty to look at. He'll pass you if you actually show effort.
PowerPoints were incredibly confusing & his explanations often made even less sense. Tests were incredibly hard; majority got horrible scores. I have never done this bad in a class in my entire life, despite never trying this hard in a class in my life. Take someone else.
He very good but a lot of homework.
Great Professor overall, He cares. Funny too. If you take this class and are even the least responsible you will pass with an A. 10/10 would reccomend
He really cares. It was hard to make a decision of who class I would take again. Math professor or my Chemistry and I chose him for Chemistry 2. Highly recommend in taking his class.
Good teacher
Go to his office hours and never miss his polls. He jokes alot and if I were you respond back to his jokes
Go to class and you will get a good grade he fine as hell exams are hard but he still fine as hell the end
Great professor, very clear on what we have to know, has great lectures, and helpful study material.
Dr. Eli is a great professor and makes chemistry understandable. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities and gives great study guides for his tests. He is available through office hours/email and is always willing to help students who have questions. Show up and you'll get an A! Also, he is hilarious and keeps class fun!
Would not recommend this Professor. Must go to class to get points for the poll questions which count for attendance. Go to study hours and start studying in advance. Go to tutoring too, it really helps. He won't round your grade up btw
This was my first year of class. I was quiet , shy and didn't really say much to anyone. I made new friends. I started off doing terrible in the class and I wouldn't say much but, because of Dr. Eli I feel alot better about asking for help and not being afraid. He will make sure you are welcomed here, make sure you succeed and just give you advice.
Dr. Eli gives people many opportunities to increase their grade and to learn with him. If you take notes on his lectures and go to class getting an a should be easy. He always makes jokes and interacts with the students in the class.
Professor Hvastkovs makes chemistry engaging with his unique teaching style. Attend class, take notes, and utilize unstuck study for study prep - it's a winning combo. Just be ready for his quirky humor.
Dr. Eli is great and knows everything about chemistry and is very helpful. If you go to class and take notes you can definitely get an A. His tests can be difficult but the study guide helps. He is very funny and makes a lot of jokes.
Great professor; His lectures are interesting, he explains everything well, and he provides great study materials (plus he is nice to look at). If you go to class, take notes, and actually do the practice problems he provides, you can get an A. The tests are pretty hard, but they are curved, and he offers a lot of extra credit.
He is a character for sure, but he is a great teacher and made his class very easy to pass if you try.
This class is not mandatory but, if you come in every day you will get extra credit from the quiz polls. He's not mean at all. He's a softy , he will help you if you dont understand. He is HILARIOUS! and has such character. Test can be tough but watch videos, read the PowerPoint before class thats how u can get the polls right. No lazy. Office hrs.
Dr. Eli is a great professor who can communicate chemistry in a way that is easy to understand. If you show up to clear and try you will do well. He is sometimes funny but does not know what he is talking about when it comes to football.
For a first chemistry class, the material was broken down and made very simple for anyone to understand. So many PollEverywhere questions that occasionally took half the class time, but they were good practice, and very applicable to the tests. Definitely a solid choice for anyone taking general chemistry!
BEST CHEM PROFESSOR! I would take him again for orgo if I could. He is so funny and easy to understand. He answers questions well and very lenient.
Dr. Eli is an amazing professor! I had him in the spring and he is one of the best professors I have ever had. The class is by no means an easy A, but as long as you put in the effort and study, you should succeed. Make sure you go to lecture, it really helps and he makes them interesting. If I did again, I would choose him every time!
He is a great professor :) I enjoyed his class a lot. He's really entertaining for a 9 am class that I took. I would say please show up, as it is counted towards your grade when doing the in-class polls. Study for the test as well, and make sure you ask for help if needed from him. He was a great professor, definitely recommend.
Pretty good professor, good at explaining things. Has a high ego and makes jokes that probably are not appropriate for class so don't take if you can't handle jokes. Office hours are helpful if you don't understand material. Test questions have multiple parts (a or b because i ii iii), so they can be challenging, but he gives good study questions
Fun times did no crimes. He left us in our primes.
Hands down best professor I've taken so far at ECU. Hillarious and knows how to keep you engaged during lectures. Content can be tricky at times but if you come to class and pay attention you'll do good. Good at explaining anything you may not understand from lecture during office hours. Definitely recommend taking.
10/10 professor.
Dr. Hvastkovs is super nice if he likes you- just be yourself and show up to his office hours. The class is out of 1000 and I earned 68 points in extra credit from showing up to class and easy extra credit opportunities. His exams are tough but missed questions are often from misreading the question but the poll quizzes are good practice problems.
Literally the best prof for gen chem 1. I did the bare minimum studying and made like 2 c's 1 b and 1 a on the tests. i made an an a on the final which replaces ur lowest grade. Besides that he gives SO many extra credit points through hw, in class-quizzes, and other stuff at the end of the semester. Show up and you'll be just fine.
