Great teacher except he sometimes goes on rants about specific topics. Some class periods are spent talking about a single problem specifically, with no new information thrown in. Homework was a group effort so expect to work with other people. He goes pretty in depth with the theory behind some concepts, whether or not it was relevant to the topic
Does make things confusing to learn but he also gives out a ton of extra credit.
Math was my worse subject in high school. I took his math classes and never had any issues in class. Disregard the negative comments. If you show up and put the work in you will not only pass the class but get an A. Like anything else in life you get what you put into this class. Great teacher.
Great teacher. Really cares about you actually learning the material as well as passing the class. Slightly difficult to understand sometimes. Funny. Extra Credit available. Will work with you on classes that need to be missed and tests being missed. Fast class has quizzes almost every class. Would definitely take him again for others courses.
Honest to god, the most frustrating class I have ever had. His teaching method was a complete miss -wanted you to learn why you do the equation more than how to do it. The textbook is your bible otherwise you won't understand anything. My A in the class was not from his teaching hut rather from overkill studying. Would not recommend.
Everyone said linear algebra was going to be such an as A; however this class challenged your critical thinking skills. His homework was very difficult to try and prove theorems without aid, but doing so gave good practice for the tests. He's a great teacher willing to go the extra mile to help out his students and all around genius.
Before taking this course I felt intimidated by the sight of a fraction . Through Completion of this course I can now say that Math and I are allies . He is very generous with points. Aims to teach you why you do it and then shows you how to apply it, rather than just giving you the formula. Very knowledgeable and thorough throughout lecture.
Honestly, I struggled with math a lot from 7th to 12th grade. I was in the GATE program as a kid and man, taking his class makes math as easy as it was back then. Only take his class if you're the type of person who needs to understand theorems and not the type that memorizes equations and when to use them. He definitely changed my life
Professor Elia is a great professor. He is a generous grader. He will go over problems until you understand. You are placed in a group and will have to answer problems on the board in front of the class. The best advice is to get to know your group partners well, they will be helpful throughout the course. Do the homework.
Eli is hands down the best math teacher I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. I am actually sad this semester is ending as it means I won't be in his class anymore. He goes above and beyond for his students. He makes sure everyone is on the same page with resources needed. I would take him for every math class beyond this one if I could.
One of the best math teachers I have ever had. Gives homework but is not mandatory. He does puts you groups, but there is one "smart person" in each group so you have a second teacher. Tests are problems from the notes or homework. Grades based on your knowledge of the material not on whether you get the right answer.
Professor Eli teaches as a Hobby, and he is dedicated. He is so inspirational! He wants to ensure all his students are ready to learn how to deal with difficulties in their educational path or career, and he makes a relevance to problem solving relating to math problems. He also buys pizza for his students, he is so kind and generous.
Professor Ziadé was the best college math professor I've had! Once you get used to how he does his lectures It's a breeze to follow along. Was clear on grading and exams (exam questions are straight from homework or notes). You are put in groups but it is meant to help your peers and better your understanding. Very nice and willing to help you.
He was one of the best professors I have. If you want to understand clearly %100 recommend.
Eli was a nice prof. Although the way he teaches could be confusing, once you do the hw it all falls into place. I strongly recommend to do the hw because that is what the test will be based on and you get 10% more on your exam if it's complete. He is extremely lenient on grading. As long as you have a somewhat clue what your doing he will give cre
First and foremost, his name is Eli Ziade and is a man not a woman. At first I thought i was going to fail because Math is my weakest subject however, he was an amazing professor who really cares and wants you to pass. He gives you second chances and his test are easy only if you do the HW & study. As long as you put the effort u should be fine :p
I loved Eli Zaide's class so much. He truly cares about his student's success. Eli is not a traditional grader, he grades on if he thinks you understand the concepts not if you got the question right or wrong. Overall he is an amazing professor and would definitely take again.
Professor Eli Ziade was and will probably always be, the best professor I have ever taken for Math. Math has always scared me but when I took his class, it all was so clear because he is so clear in his lectures. He will lead study groups for exams if there are students struggling and he buys the pizza. I highly recommend Prof. Ziade to anyone.
I went into that class terrified (math traumatized my whole life). But after getting to know Eli, He not only helped me squash my fear of math, but he made me enjoy it! He is such a good guy and he is really smart. He wants to be your friend more than he wants to be your professor. he strongly encourages visiting his office too. Take his class!!
Professor Ziade is not your typical professor. The way he explains things is to make you truly understand the essence of math and the type of problem itself. It's not the here's your problem now plug and chug. A little hard work in the beginning will carry you far in this class. Pay attention & ask many questions. Nice prof and manageable hw.
I absolutely loved having Professor Eli as my teacher for Math 115. I'm not the best at math nor am I at sitting in a chair for three hours listening to a lecture. However, Eli makes it fun and has absolutely no issue backtracking to make sure all students are on the same page. There's a lot of HW, but ur only required to do it until u get it.
He will ask you to call him Eli instead of professor. Hes very approachable and will make sure everyone understands the material before moving forward. Mathematics is a complicated subject but Eli makes it easy to follow along and understand. You will have to apply yourself and you will only get out of it what you put in.
Best math professor I have ever had. I have always been a C student in math and became an A student for the first time. The only difficult part of the class is understanding the material. He is easy going and makes it understandable. The way he teaches the material makes it more enjoyable. Homework is a little heavy but it helps to understand it.
Eli is my favorite professor. I would look forward to my calculus class which is saying a lot. He is in-depth with the material and makes sure we are all keeping up. He is extremely helpful, fair, and easy to get a hold of. He genuinely cares about his students and their success.
Eli is probably the best professor I've ever had. The material can be difficult, but that's expected, and he will do everything to ensure you understand it. He's very approachable, and he's really amazing at teaching , even in an online class. If you're lucky enough to see an open spot in his class, definitely take it
Eli is probably the best professor I've ever had. The material can be challenging, but that's expected in Calc 2, and he will do everything to ensure you understand it. He's very approachable, friendly, and amazing at teaching, even in an online class. If you're lucky enough to see his class still has an open seat, definitely take it
If you need to take an asych class, Eli's the perfect option. He records his own lectures, assigns homework himself, and grades himself, making for a class catered to the student's needs, instead of making you purchase a million-dollar stupid program that you have learn from and essentially replaces your prof and class. He's the best, truly.
Exams are given as a PDF document so it's open note, he's super flexible with late homework, if you make a minor error on an exam it is exempt so you won't get penalized and you need to complete 50% of your homework to get full credit.... He's a teacher sent from heaven lol.
I wish I would have found Eli earlier. If I were to describe his teaching style, I would say he teaches in the perspective of the student. He even pirated the textbook and shared the pdf, he records lectures so students can learn on their own time, only have to do 50% of the HW, take home tests open book, and online resources.
Eli was an excellent teacher. I had him for Calc 1. Very good lectures, broke down subjects in a very fundamental way that actually made me very interested and excited to come to class. The material can be difficult, but that is to be expected from a Calculus corse. Eli is approachable and is very willing to help if you are struggling.
I would rate Professor Eli a 6 if I could. He is THE best math teacher you could EVER have. So caring about his students and very clear with tons of analogies, not to mention he has the best handwriting in the world. He's very lenient about everything. I wish I could get him for every math class beyond this because he is absolutely the best.
Best math professor I have ever taken at Palomar. He is actually cares about passing and knowing the material! he will make time for you even if its on the weekends. Math has always a been a struggle but Elia really helps you. I wish he taught other math courses I would take it in a heart beat! Exams arent hard and homework is doable.
The nicest/most caring I've had. This class was tough, and there is lots of homework. Tests were incredibly difficult, but you have a week to complete them and they are open-note. Always available for students, and very respectful. He has you watch his lecture videos then answers questions about them during class time, which I was not a fan of.
Professor Ziade is the kindest professor I've ever had. He is really flexible and understanding of difficulties you may face out of the classroom. Definitely the hardest math course I've taken. One thing I would say is that I wish he did live lecture because watching a 1-2 hr lecture on your own time and then having to zoom during the week is alot
My brother and I both took precalculus from Elia in 2019 and we loved it. I cannot recommend him enough, he is definitely the best math professor I've ever had. He genuinely wants you to succeed and understand the concepts. His office hours are very helpful and he always went out of his way to have review sessions with us. Thank you so much Elia!!!
Professor Eli is not only the best math teacher but the best teacher I've ever came in contact with. He is extremely understanding and caring. Takes time to explain stuff from previous courses. Don't take advantage of his kindness. This class is definitely not easy but he grades on overall effort and is fair. Take him for ANY class and see.
Calculus is a hard subject, but Professor Ziade always cares about helping his students succeed. He gives several days to work on exams instead of making you take it in one sitting. He even gave me a hint for a question I was struggling with on the midterm! His lectures can be VERY long, but it's not so bad if you adjust the speed.
Eli is super helpful and caring, so I would recommend him in general, but for me he was too chaotic. He'll go overtime answering homework questions that weren't assigned since someone asked them anyway and delay going over topics if some people are behind, making the whole class behind too. If you value efficiency and structure, maybe steer clear
I had mixed feelings about this class. Eli is extremely knowledgeable & eager to help all students. Great person. Material-wise, not sure I retained much. I think it's because of how much time he expected us to dedicate to the class. Long prerec lectures + live zooms + tons of hw. If you can manage time well, take him! You'll do great. Otherwise...
Professor Eli was amazing. The course was difficult, as it should be, but he made it manageable. He was very well spoken, had structured lectures, and doable exams. If you put in the effort, you saw the rewards. He was very caring of his students, he would go the extra mile any time he could to help ensure the success of his classes.
Eli is an amazing professor. In my synchronous online class, the prerecorded lectures were clear and thorough and the in-class discussions really helped with mastery. While this class is not easy, he is the most caring professor Ive had really gives you every chance and tool to learn and succeed. Seriously awesome.
Best math professor ive had at Palomar. He cares about his students and is flexible with deadlines. He is knowledgeable and doesnt hesitate to slow down and help students through problems if youre struggling. NO extra credit but he holds test prep sessions that are helpful. Gives points for effort instead of nitpicking. Fantastic overall.
Best math Professor ever, seriously. There are 4 exams, if you get an A on the first 3, you dont have to take the final! The homework is super clear! He is also always looking for ways to support his students. He really cares about his students success. His lectures are also amazing!! He makes learning math clear, and easy. TAKE HIM!!
Take him if you haven't taken math in a while. He explains everything. Homework can be turned in late for full credit. Gives you 2-3 days to take an exam. Lots of homework, don't get behind and you will be fine. Hard work, but doable. Grades tests on if concept was understood, not if math problem has the right answer.
Dr. Ziade is truly an amazing professor he cares about his student learning more than treating the class as a pass or fail. At times I forgot I was getting graded because he just cares about his students learning. I have never had a professor as great as him. I would highly suggest taking his class, if you want to learn.
Eli uses pre recorded lectures, unlike most professors he does this so he can use class time to answer questions, plus he gives you office hours and lets you email and I think text him if you have questions. There is NO reason to struggle in his class, even though he teaches, well geek level math. PUT IN THE EFFORT, YOULL BE FINE.
Professor Ziade wasn't bad, but having to watch pre-recorded lectures (1.5-3 hours) and then also attend regularly scheduled lecture periods for questions was a huge time management challenge for me, personally. You have to, have to, HAVE TO do the homework if you want to succeed in his class. Don't be afraid to ask questions!!!
Prof. Ziade's style is formal, detailed, and organized. He has a love for pure math and logical proofs. He used a digital whiteboard during lectures, both live and in video. Hard to stay focused in class since no cameras were used, only his shared screen. Exams were the most challenging part. He allowed for late submissions on most assignments.
I had professor Eli Ziade for an online course of Math 141 and he was one of the best professor I have had at Palomar College. He often look out for his students and will help in anyway he can. An awesome teacher overall.
Eli is an excellent math instructor. His course is challenging, but he is an effective lecturer. The key to success is engaging with his lectures, wrestle with the assignments, and to ask questions. He is very accessible and cares deeply about his students progress.
Eli's explanations of the material are easy to follow. He makes an effort to explain every step and refresh concepts learned in previous math classes. Lots of empathy for students and their busy schedules. Some exam questions are pretty tricky, but he gives hints. A truly exceptional instructor, take him if you can.
amazing
I graduated Palomar College and I suck at Math, which was even worst since I took this class during the COVID era. But he is a great professor. Actually participate, ask questions, and do not procrastinate on the video lectures. Reach out to him, he is super dope!
There 4 big unit test which are difficult if you don't do the homework. The lectures are super long and the zoom classes are him just going over homework problems which can be helpful but again boring. He is super understanding and lenient. If you have issues with anything he is easy to get ahold of. I felt the class overall was relatively easy.
THE GOAT. Best professor at palomar and its not even close
Professor Ziade is an admirable professor and serves as the gold standard of what a professor should be. It is not often one encounters a professor who truly cares, and he is one of them. It is a challenging course as a precursor to calculus, but with questions and participation, an A+ is achievable. Professor knowledgeable regarding the material.
Professor Eli was very nice and caring towards his students, and you can always ask him for help. He always posts notes from the lecture. His lectures are recorded and can sometimes be an hour long, but tbh I just looked at the notes instead. He also holds help sessions for tests which was super helpful, and were also recorded and posted.
Easily the best professor you'll ever have. If I could choose more positive tags I would and there aren't enough words allowed here to describe how good he was. Lectures are fantastic & wants every single student to pass. Exams can bit challenging but they are extremely similar to the homework and he will help you. Extremely lenient grading. 10/10
Professor Ziade is extremely good. If you are taking him you will truly understand the concept and if you don't he will definitely help you. Provides good feedback and assist you with anything you need. I would take his class over and over again and I find myself looking for his classes when I need to take a math course.
What an amazing professor. Highly recommended! Do your homework and you'll do fine! Tests are hard but he is a fair grader.
One of the best professors. As others have said his tests are quite hard but gives you a couple days to do them. He just wants to know that you have the overall concept down, so he is a VERY lenient grader. Would take again in a heartbeat.
This professor was very good at guiding online classes so that as students we could follow and understand the concepts that he was teaching. He answers all questions and explains in depth. He responds to emails/questions which is great when you have a test coming up and overall, his lectures are easy to follow along.
Although this was an online course Prof. Eli was probably one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He goes into depth with any material that isn't understood and makes sure all his students feel confident. He goes over tests as a class regardless if people have questions, this helps with people who may be too shy to ask. Great Prof.
This is the BEST class you can take for math, he is built for this job, if only others were like him. His lectures are amazing and so enthusiastic, it makes you exited to learn math, even for me its surprising. He loves answering questions and always goes in-depth into the basic fundamentals of why something works, not just memorization. 10/10.
The best math Professor.Very patience and supportive. I now enjoy math thanks to this course with Professor Ziade. Looking forward to taking math in the future.
Awesome if you take the whole math sequence with him. Very theoretical, explains concepts very well. Teaches from a student perspective, great teacher. THE GOAT.
He is caring and genuinely wants you to understand the material. Only 40% of assigned homework is required for full marks. Class time is used to ask questions and go over problem problems instead of just lecture. He also gives lots of time on tests (like a week) and the questions are nearly identical to lecture problems. 100% recommend.
Best professor by FAR. Show genuine effort and interest in the topic and he will help you every step of the way. Definitely a class with tough material but he is extremely helpful and it's hard to fall behind as long as you're present and take notes.
The best math professor at Palomar College.
The professor made me good at math. I always found it difficult but he made sure I had time and the concept down. This is the Math 110 course I would take.
No late policy on homework, gives 5 days to take a test with no time limit, allowed to use textbook and lecture notes on tests. Accessible outside of class, answers questions on homework and tests in class. Very amazing professor, lectures explain the content well, stops to answer students' questions when needed. 100% take this professor.
Eli is great at teaching math and a super supportive professor. His lectures are understandable and he will always answer questions, even on tests. You get 5-7 days to complete tests and will give credit for wrong answers on as long as he can tell you understand the material. There were 3 tests and as long as you do the homework it's not too hard.
The professor is great and easy to communicate with depending on questions on homework or tests. He has helped me understand calculus very well. I would take his course again and other courses if he teaches other math courses. Best math professor I have had.
Professor Ziade is a great professor who goes over student's problems on each section. He is very easygoing, allows a week to complete exams, and patient. However, I think he is somewhat too lenient. But overall, great professor! Highly recommend him, especially if you want to get math out of the way.
Definitely the best math professor at Palomar. He responds to emails asap, super nice guy, and he loves when students participate in class. It just shows how much he cares. Hw is participation and there are 2 exams and a final that are all challenging but his lenient grading makes up for it (A LOT). Take him before the spots fill up!
One of the best professors ever!! Very organized and descriptive with the lectures and assignments. He is very patient and willing to answer every single question. The exams are take home, though can seem difficult, many problems come from the HW, he will review the exam after the due date. He is very positive, engaged, and willing to help.
Very knowledgeable and friendly prof. His grading policy is also pretty generous. would recommend
Professor Eli was great! Took him for an 8 week summer class, and passed easily. Lectures are clear, so long as you don't fall behind. Always wants EVERYONE to understand, and will easily take the time to explain if there are questions.
Professor Ziade is nothing short of amazing. He is extremely patient and will walk you through anything you're stumped on. He is super friendly and approachable, and his grading is very lenient. His night class was perfect for a working student. You will get a lot out of this class. 100% recommend!
He's a great Profesor and he really understands his Students . He's one the best teacher at Palomar College.
Absolutely amazing professor. His lectures are pre-recorded and you spend class getting to ask homework questions. Take home tests. He's extremely flexible and he wants you to understand the material and pass his class. He appreciates feedback & class participation. Take his class if you haven't taken math in a few years, he's fantastic!!
Only found him tough since it was online—asking deeper questions on Zoom isn't easy. Otherwise, great professor. Some tricky questions, but if you study, you'll be fine (most of the time aha). That said, tests were take-home. proof-heavy at times, which made you think. Very lenient and unfortunately skipped applications part of Calc 2 for online -k
Great math teacher took him over the spring semester on base! learned so much from him he is a rad guy and not only that he cares so much about the students.
He's a great teacher and I took this class because it was a requirement for my prerequisites, but he was a really great teacher very helpful very kind and extremely understanding as long as you voice and work with him he'll work with you if you're somebody who hasn't taken math in a while, you'll get an a with this class
Hey, If you decide to take MATH 110, Professor Elia Ziade is, by far, the best professor I have ever had. He genuinely has a passion not just for math, but also for his fellow students. So, if you struggle in MATH as I did, Professor Elia Ziade is the Professor to go to if you want to learn and understand Mathematics. I really learned in his class.
Best professor of all time. Dr. Eli demonstrates the proofs behind the formulas and principles, such that we can UNDERSTAND the concepts, rather than memorize formulas. There is a ton of content to learn in this class, but if you attend lecture and do the homework (completion) it's an easy A while also teaching the most content the most thoroughly.
