knows his material but very hard to follow along
I find this professor to be very easy to understand and follow. He really knows the material and is always ready to awnser the students questions. I would definately take another course taught by Professor Theodoracopoulos.
Professor Theodoracopoulos has a nice sense of humor at times and is very sarcastic. However, he seems to be more interested in letting you know that he knows the subject (often condescending). He's a good professor but he needs to be more organized. Hey, he has a nice smile.

How could you look at a Professor in that way? Are you kidding me?! Anyway, he has invested much time into making sure we understood the work. You don't usually find Professors like that.
found lectures to be absorbing,i attended enthusiastcally;quite professional.
I was not excited to take a summer course, but ten minutes into the class and i fell in love with it...largely in part to the teacher. He expresses his great knowledge of the topic and highly encourages his students to partake in the excitement that he feels as well. I was very happy with the course!
He is a very good professor and... What else can I say?
The class is not easy but you will do well if you do the readings and attend class. He is always willing to answer questions. Yes he can be sarcastic at times but hes very smart and my experience was a good one.

Let's start off with the bad things about him: He is sometimes unorganized, he makes you buy too many books, and he doesn't meet his deadlines... but other than that he is a wonderful person/instructor. He is intelligent, and he makes classical literature very interesting. He may be intimidating at first but he's really a nice guy.
This professor is tough, and if you're not a serious student don't take the class. he doesn't tolerate stupidity or laziness. even if you don't know the answers he appreciates if you participate. He is passionate about what he teaches and is very informative. He encourages you to think and is actually a fair grader. Recommended.
This Prof is all about emphasis. He respects the Eng language and makes sure his students understand the roots of their western culture. His only demand is that his students come to class to learn, not just to absorb like mindless robots. No group projects, which is great, just lone trips to the Met. museum and VERY interesting lectures with no hom
I wouldn't recommend students to take classes with this professor. I took his class during the summer and he requested us to read at least ten books in five weeks. His Quizzes and exams are difficult. He is very strict about attendance. And doesn't give extra credit.

This instructor is terrible. He knows little of current scholarship, contemporary political theory, or viewpoints other than those of canonical fogies. He treats students as if they were developmentally disabled, for example by asking them if they know the meaning of simple words.Papers are not graded for months.Lectures cover the plot, not themes.
He appears to be a hard a-- but he is real cool. He's always helpful and always answers your questions no matter how stupid you may think it is. He really cares about his students and loves what he does. All he asks is that as students you should try, and also read the material before coming to class.
most intelligent professor i have had. tough yet thoughtful. command over greek classics result in interesting lectures that will keep you at the edge of your seat if you have any appreciation for literature at all. pay close attention and you may even catch drifts of a sense of humor. really wants you to understand and to learn to be understanding
The good: demanding but extremely intelligent, displays an impressive body of knowledge and is very passionate about the subject. The bad: slow in marking and returning quizzes; I wrote a paper and never got it back. But overall a very rewarding experience if you're prepared to put in the brainpower. His toughness made me a better student.
He goes off on tangents but eventually they make sense in his lectures. He's interactive with the students, but it does take him a while to grade a paper, unless you go to his office. He demands a lot from a student, so if you're not too strong in english, don't take him. If you think you can take a challenge, have fun!
at first he seemed really hard and tough. but later on in a term he is better. if you want to learn real western literature, then take this professor. i have learned alot of stuff. he is not that bad as he seems. some students do not like him becuase he gives too much readings, but the readings are fun
This is the most demanding class I ever took. 1st of all memorization! You must memorize EVER-Y-THING. I mean LITERALLY. He expects you to learn CHAPTERS for his quizes (since the class is once a week). The final was from ch 2-10 i mean lets be REAL HERE. He thinks you have no other class rather then his own. TOUGH TOUGH PROF. DONT RECOMMEND @ ALL.
I found out about this site because this prof read a bad review of himself in class. He now mentions it all the time, which makes me feel guilty by association. I keep thinking, does he think I wrote it? Maybe everyone in class feels this. Anyway, the class is fine, but I am terrified of the exam. It's on 5 things we didn't read for class! Crazy.
He doesn't ask much - just that you go to class and do your reading. Def. bring your book to class! He is disorganized but it's not that big of a deal - only downside is that he covers things on the final exam he didnt go over in class.
This is one teacher who actually cares if his students learn something. His abrasiveness is only to ensure that you reach your full potential. It may seem like he's too tough but he simply wants to push you to work. Don't waste his time or yours if you're not willing to work hard and come to class. If you take his class you won't be sorry. He is on
He's not an easy teacher so if you don't want to work hard don't take him. If you want to learn about Greek culture he's the man to learn from. I took the class because I thought it would be easy, I thought wrong & ended up with a passion for Greek literature and art I never knew I had. It's worth it.
No doubt about it,the best professor period. He is Caring, intellectual, and extremely devoted to his students. He is very well read and you will get a lot out of whatever class he teaches, whether it be in the classics or English. Highly recommended to take, you wont regret. Just do your work like you'd normally do and you will get an A. Take him!
He is very disorganized, does not fully explain what he expects of you. The test do not reflect what was said in class. Too many questions on the test. He expects you to memorize everything. Very rude at times. The only opinions that matter are his and he dosent care if they offend you. RUUUNNNN!!!! DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!

Gives too much work for an intro level course. Expect to hear a lot of his religious and political rants. He goes off on tangents and expects you to know the text material for the test. Don't count on getting anything back from him, ie., your midterm or even your first quiz. Crams everything in during the last few classes. He's also offensive.

OH MAN. i took his class last semester and the class is god damn HARD!!! i'm a good student who does study for test and everything, but for his class it's just way too much. he expects you to know everything on the test, even those crazy detailed ones. he makes you study like a LAW student!!!DO NOT TAKE HIM!
I don't know why everyone here is complaining about how difficult he is. Professor T's class is extremely stimulating and he is one of the most caring professor I know in the school. He is passionate about the material and he certainly increased my interest in the classical tradition. Hunter is very lucky to have someone like him.
He may come off as a mean guy, but his bark is bigger than his bite. He is exremely intelligent and he knows his stuff! This class is hard, and requires alot of memorization, and reading. But if you work hard you will get a good grade.
excellent prof. passionate about his work. i recommend him
an interesting teacher...the first class in my freshmen year that i never slept in...given the fact that it was an 8 in the morning class...
DO NOT TAKE HIM RUN IF U C HIM. I STUDIED SO HARD FOR HIS TEST AND I GOT A D I AM A B+ STUDENT AND I GOT A D FROM HIM DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS HIS FINAL WAS INSANE HE ASKED FOR SO MUCH DETAIL IT WAS HORRIBLE GRADING TAKES FOREVER AND ONE TIME I WENT TO GET MY PAPER HE HIMSELF SAID IT WAS GRADED A LITTLE BIT HARSHLY BUT HE DIDNT DO NOTHING BOUT IT
OMG!!! RUN DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU WANT A BAD GRADE! He is disorganized, never hands things back so you wont know any of your grades until the final. He teaches straight from the textbook, the textbook is the size of an encyclopedia. he expects you to know information that you havent covered.. test always have info that has not been covered.. RUUUNN
Excellent professor. Knowledgeable, informative, fun, and encouraging. I would definitely recommend the summer intensive latin 101 course with Professor Theodoracopoulos to anyone interested in learning the basics of the latin language.
This summer intensive class is extremely demanding. Take it only if you can devote at least 4/5 hours of study time outside of class everyday. There were quizzes scheduled for most classes plus homework. Graded quizzes or midterm were not returned on timely basis. But the class was fun and Prof. T loves what he teaches. Engaging and insightful.
Prof. T's Latin summer class was perhaps the best experience I've had at Hunter. He is extremely nice, ALWAYS willing to help & meet students, & a fair (and lenient -- that is, *IF* you do your work & participate!) grader. He demands good work, but mostly rewards EFFORT. He is pleasantly sarcastic, funny, and knows his subject quite well.
he's one of the best classics frofessor. he knows and loves what he teaches and he makes u love it and know it as well. i have to admit that his exams are hard, but he is very fear at grading them and helping u any way possible to get a good grade. what i learned in his myth class, i still use in other CLA calsses. he inspired me to major in CLA.
HE IS THE WORST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD.....I MEAN IT....NEVER HANDS THINGS ON TIME....YOU WOULD NOT KNOW YOUR GRADE EVEN AFTER THE FINAL...DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE'S FEELINGS....NEVER IS ON TIME...THE WORST!!!!!!!!!!
He is quite unorganized, hands back work late, and you won't know your grade til the semester is over. But you can learn a lot from him, just make sure yu read the two books by Homer and know it thoroughly. The other books you can just read. Should really take good notes during his lecture and you should do fine.
He is an excellent professor, but you have to be serious about the material in class. It is very interesting though, so you should really enjoy it.
His answers are so verbose that the student forgets what the original question was. He digresses from the topic a lot. He is very disorganized and does not hand grades at all. We took the final exam without knowing any grade at all.
Takes himself waaay too seriously. Was always at least 10 minutes late, and very very boring. All he does is lecture and he has a bad old man attitude. He is very old school and wanted the class to buy about 8-10 books for the course (wasn't happening). I dropped and I am so glad I did. I'm surprised geeks still take his classes...c'mon people
One of the outstanding Professors at Hunter. Knows his subject inside and out and makes it extremely interesting and enjoyable!
I did put forth great effort for the paper and 2nd test, after seeing what my first grade was,met with him, and still wound up with a C. notes are pointless---read and understand the books (too many), know the maps, and terms. He wasn't too pleasant and hated to be interrupted. I don't recommend him.
OK. Had him for Classical Myth & LOVED it... how can you hate a man who is so freakin brilliant? he is verypassionate about Classical Grk studies and it shows, and I felt very lucky to have taken his class. It was a VERY intense workload & you really have to put in the time and effort in order to earn grades for him. He is adorable!!
Thanks to EJTh I can now accurartely pinpoint on a map every major ancient city in the Western world.
Professor T. is very condescending and biased. If you dont do well on his first quizzes, good luck to you. However, if he likes you then great! He is very knowledgeable but I suggest you stay away.
Wonderful, funny, enthusiastic and interesting. Hard to fall asleep in class! Messy and gives back work late. He cares more about you learning the material than what your grades are. STUDY if you want a good grade. some quizzes easy, mostly from the text. He knows his material DEFINITELY. PROJECTING VOICE AND CLEAR. no old man "disabilities" xD
Knowledgeable. He cares not about what grades you get, but that you understand the material. Even if you are not doing well on exams, give it your all, participate, and you'll get a good grade. I got Ds and Cs, but because I show respect (show up on time, not texting), he has agreed to take that into account. Try to get a later class, thats the key
(Cont from previous rate)A warning - he says he is crabby in the morning, so try to get something after 10am, best if it is after 12pm. A wonderful experience overall, I'm not sorry I didn't try to get into another class aside from Greek/Latin roots. Excellent elective if you need one, good if you need to fulfill the GER.
He's a good professor...reminds me a lot of Lewis Black...if u love Lewis Black then..you'll pass with an A+++ i guess
Nice person but a cranky professor. Unorganized at times and hands back quizzes really late. But definitely knows his stuff
Excellent professor who really knows his stuff. Comes off very strict, but he's understanding and entertaining when you give him the respect he deserves. Put in the effort, make him see that you're trying, & he'll reward you for it. Listen, take good notes, use your dictionary, & know what he says to know. Not an easy A but a very worthwhile class.
Knows his stuff and loves his subject but if you are not interested in classics then definitely take another prof. he is a very harsh grader and expects an absurd amount of reading for an intro level class. classes are VERY tedious if you have no interest and are only covering a requirement. 2 exams which will take him months to return.
Vivat professor!
This guy is outrageously unfair and unpleasant might I had. But whatever you do, read the text books and maybe, just maybe he'll allow you a good grade.
Outrageously unfair and unpleasant? More like outrageously amazing!
He is completely awesome. If you really want to learn Latin, you will have to work for it, but you will love this class. If you're not serious about it, this class will be a nightmare. He takes forever to hand work back but otherwise he's the tops.
Awesome awesome awesome. He loves the subject and by the end you do too. The work seems a little overwhelming but once you get to it it's not as bad as you think. make sure you do the readings! He truly cares more about what you learn than your grades. dark sense of humor.very helpful
Latin having been taught, the Prof. is absolutely awesome - passionate about the subject and most concerned with expanding the student's interest and understanding of Latin and beyond.
Prof T is amazing! He's passionate about the Latin, and he can't help but make you passionate too. You will work HARD in this class, but it is intensive so it shouldn't be a surprise. When you leave, you will know Latin, and you will know that your brain has the ability to retain crazy amounts of information. He is fair & open to student concerns.
Professor T is wonderful. Not only is he a great teacher, but he's also a great person- he truly cares about students and is always there to help. He loves Latin and will make you love it too. I can't imagine starting to learn Latin with anyone else. Don't take him if you lack a sense of humor, however. Vale!
Most importantly, Prof. T teaches this undergrad class as though it were a graduate-level class. He makes the students aware of everything: the historical background against which the text stands, its literary subtleties, problems with its manuscripts, and all other relevant philological issues. Most highly recommended for serious classicists. A+++
Great hist class. Definitely recommended.
Highly recommended class.
This is taught as a Roman hist class. Best points: having to read the primary sources; this may be some students' only chance to do so. Lectures are clear and easy to follow but not dumbed down--there will be info on historiographical and philological stuff, Latin, relevant modern issues, etc. Recommended for serious students.
I took the intensive Latin class w/Prof T, and he was amazing! The class takes A LOT of work, especially if you've never had Latin. Lots of prep and memorization, but the amount of knowledge you come away with is AMAZING! He is a very nice professor, and very willing to explain things. Very funny sense of humour. Overall he is fair and awesome!
Excellent lecture course on ancient Greek history. As always with his classes, the best points are the required primary source reading, and the wealth of historical, cultural, political, economic (and so forth) info given on the period. The in-depth museum lecture, and the fact that this is really his specialty, is a plus. For serious students only
He is a good proffesor very passionate in his theme, but he pushes too hard in the redings. His exams are completly ridiculos. I recomended taking this class ONLY if concerns to your major. Other wise it will be a torture and you will injure your GPA. This proffesor do not take in consideration that you should read and study for other classes.
This is an intermediate ancient Greek reading class. Greek is a syntactically and conceptually difficult language, but this professor really goes above and beyond in making sure each individual student understands all the nuances of the text. Good at coming up with examples to clarify things. Also, great sense of humor. Fun and challenging class.
Intensive Latin, very hard. He has a wealth of knowledge in the subject. Very clear. Tests are hard, but he will be lenient if you participate and try. Sometimes late, takes a while to grade quizzes/tests. Overall GREAT professor, but don't expect easy A.
good teacher, strict but means well. he explains the work very good and sumtimes he can have jokes to laugh at. but i dont really recommend him dat much.
Do not take his class unless you are prepared for a lot of work and memorization. That said, he is a very interesting teacher who truly knows his stuff and entertains the class with black humour and cultural tidbits about Greek and Roman society. I highly recommend taking his class if you are the hard-working type.
He is extremely hard, but he means well. I find him pretty funny. The midterm was hard, and there was a lot of writing involved. Do not take this class if you're also taking 5-6 other classes.
A very committed professor who knows how to convey tough concepts clearly. I wish he would get work back in a more timely manner, though. I know it's a lot of grading, but other professors with less intelligence seem to manage.
Taking Prof Theo's class was the most rewarding and amazing academic experience. He is brilliant, passionate, and inspiring. He rewards hard work and really cares about his students (as long as they care about the course). He's basically the reason for why I'm staying at Hunter. Can't wait to take Roman Civ with him next semester. Take his courses!
(I wanted to rate this professor in Spanish, but is not possible)Professor T. is amazing, he is very strict, but it is the only way you can learn a language such as hard as Latin. He is very funny and makes you improve as a student (if you are willing to work hard). It's wonderful to work with a professor with his knowledge, to me was such an honor.
summer class - very knowledgable; however, lacks organizational skills. Syllabus was pretty much useless because we were way behind schedule and he did not grade according to the grading system on the syllabus. Took forever handing back graded assignments. Was not clear on what he wanted for the museum report.
I also took this class this past summer (2012), and since it was a summer class the material could seem dense bc there isn't that much time to read it all. (not the professor's fault) A few suggestions: if you are falling behind ASK questions! He is more than willing to help you pass. I was having trouble and because I ASKED for help, I passed. =)
You will learn more from Prof Theo than you will from any other professor. Within two semesters I've taken intensive Latin and Roman Civ with him. My academic outlook has changed for the better. CLA 203 is a ton of reading, but it's great stuff. Work hard, get rewarded, learn a ton. He deeply cares about his students, and wants everyone to do well.
I took the Golden Age of Athens with him although I had zero interest in the topic prior. He definitely is not an easy A, but he is always available to help clarify anything and he grades on effort. Also, he is one of the funniest and genuine professors I have had at Hunter and if you care about learning anything, definitely take a class with him.
I took 3 of Prof. Theo's classes this past semester and I enjoyed each of them. They were a lot of work but if you put in the work you will do well. The lectures were interesting & humorous at times. Prof. Theo was knowledgeable about the topics, willing to help, extremely generous on tests & made great connections between the material and today.
Very worthwhile course. Of course the work isn't easy for beginners, but the daily dose of humor and Roman culture that he gives out helps. When he links Latin to other languages, that might be a bit disconcerting (if all you want to do is focus), but it's still interesting.
Professor Theo. is one of the greatest professors i have ever met. He is very knowledgeable and very interesting. I took this class not knowing anything about greek tragedy or drama and I walked out with a great learning experience. I highly recommend prof. Theo he is caring and wants his students to do well, but you have to put in work!
Though, he is very knowledgeable on the subject, and seems to love it, his classes are quite disorganized and hard to follow if you stop listening for a second. Reviews for midterms are rather extremely vague as well.
Prof Theo is a very friendly &funny person who loves making his students smile. definitely have be prepared to take a lot of notes, there are no review sheets.Only negative thing I would say is that he takes WAY TOO LONG grading papers. I am currently still waiting for him to return my 1st paper and my midterm (semester is over in 2 weeks)
Terrible professor; won't let you ask questions as it would disrupt his class. He treats his 101 course as a 300 course -- writing 2 essays for the final (5 Pages total) in addition to identification. You don't learn anything about Greek Gods and spend the whole semester reading The Iliad, Odyssey, and other Greek tragedies. Waste of a course.
Horrible. He is extremely knowledgeable and states many random facts that are interesting but expects you to know and memorize everything he says. Also the class only received two grades; a paper which he never handed back and a final which he did not go over what would be on it beforehand. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Professor Theodoracopoulos is a very smart professor with a lot to teach. He realy cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His method of dong this is rather extreme is his 101 course is more like a 300 course...either way very positive influence and great guy. :)
There's no doubt he knows what he's talking about. The problem though is that I don't know what he's talking about most of the time. Your grade is based solely on a paper, a midterm, and a final, and there is very little test prep on his part. Unless if you know a lot about Greek mythology, don't take it to fill a GER.
he is the definition of vague. His Test (only 1 which counts as the overall grade for the whole course) is hard and he did not inform anyone what would be on it prior. suggestion: do not take him.
This class was really hard & he is very unclear. His exams are really hard and he takes forever to return papers. We had to read a lot of books.... He tends to favor the students who are greek. DON'T take this class it's going to ruin your GPA.
Great Prof. You will have to work hard and read a lot. Not an easy A. But if you're interested in learning take it.
Great professor! He can seem intimidating at first but IF you are interested in learning he is extremely helpful. Second to none in Hunter when it comes to teaching classical languages. Don’t expect an easy A, youll have to READ A LOT!
He is atrocious. One of the worst professors ever. He expects an abundance amount of knowledge from you and if you lack it, you are pretty much screwed for the rest of the semester. He doesnt explain himself well and only had one grade towards the classes final grades which is ridiculous!
His tests are hard because you have to read and know the precise passages of the books he assigns you. And the final was cumulative. But he is a good prof to talk to about your grades and makes an effort to help you out.
He's a classicist, working to create more classicists. That means he will push you. He respects his students, and does not condescend by making the work easier. He's also fair, clear, and always willing to help. He cares about students outside the classroom, and makes you love the subject, even while its killing you. Best prof I've had at Hunter.
Great teacher, funny, caring, but a lot of reading!
I previously took this course and had to drop it due to personal reasons. He was extremely understanding and even helped me once i re-registered. Don't misunderstand, hes not an easy A. He's passionate and inspiring when it comes to Latin and having him as a professor gives his students an immense advantage. I appreciate that he never gives up.
Not an easy A! But also the most rewarding class I've ever taken. He's super supportive with students and takes the time to meet with those who make the effort to come to him. Seems intimidating but is actually very helpful.. Take every class you can with him, there are few Professors like him anymore.
Professor T is an old school professor. He expects you to work, but he will reward you for it. Be prepared to do a lot of reading, and make sure to interact/go to office hours. You will get what you give in this class. He is there if you talk to him an show an interest in the work-- definitely can tell when people are trying to skirt the work.
I've never taken a worse class in my life. He's a terrible professor please don't take this class it's torture. He makes it harder than a graduate level and it's only a 101 class. Is very unclear and blames everything wrong he says on "the contradictory nature of myth". He never clarifies and tests on reading. And he's MEAN.
Avoid this professor at all costs. He treats this entry-level course as if it's a 300-level class, in which all students have prior knowledge on the subject. He returned papers the day of the FINAL, and even on the last day of classes, he did not finish grading. Does not follow the syllabus. Unorganized, unclear, and uncaring towards his students.
He's so funny if you understand extremely dry humor and sarcasm(the best kind), easy A just turn in your work and put in effort to better your writing, its all about showing growth. He is very understanding with attendance. I missed A LOt of classes and did not fail. Over all, Id take another class with him.
He's a pretty good teacher. He works really hard to review papers and gives back great feedback, but I think he's a bit disorganized. He is very well educated and definitely knows what he is talking about, but he seems a bit forgetful sometimes and takes very long grading papers.
The professor is really knowledgeable about current news and literature. He is a bit disorganized and tends to forget things easily. He does take quite a while to give back papers; however, he does give great feedback and will always catch your grammar mistakes. If you're more organized than him and complete your work on time, you'll do well.
He has sooo much potential, he is super knowledgable, clearly loves literature, and can have great discussions in class. However, he is so disorganized, nothing is posted on blackboard until I started begging him to and he would post the guidelines to a paper midnight the day before its due. Papers were so vaguely assigned it was so confusing.
Literally such an awful class. Do not take it. He is unorganized, unfair, and genuinely rude to students. Posts exams and quizzes at 8pm expecting them to be done by 8am. Gave us a 2 hour final of a huge essay and mini responses (impossible, no one submitted an essay). Does not take criticism, and won't answer your questions or help you. Don't take
Very disappointed with this professor. He has a lot of potential, but he's just not fair at all. I would suggest to not take him. I regret taking this class honestly. He is an unfair grader and gives you 0 even if you put a lot of effort. He is very old fashion with grading and doesn't giving students credit for trying at all.
The professor is very unorganized and often forgets to post assignments no matter how many students remind him to. He's rude when students ask questions. Coming into this class, thought I would enjoy it but honestly, I felt like I learned nothing. I also blame myself for not paying attention. Maybe if you guys worked hard, you might do well? idk
For your own good, RUN AWAY from this class! It was a huge waste of my time and it was so boring. Prepare to be lost and confused. He was very disorganized. Took him almost a month to grade the midterm. For this course level, it does not need to be this much work.
Here's the thing: he is very knowledgeable but extremely unprofessional, a good scholar but terrible teacher. He doesn't follow the syllabus, doesn't know how to make the classes interesting, doesn't interact much with students, and basically just reads out from textbooks and summarizes each page, making it incredibly boring.
I know this class may seem fun because its "Classical Mythology" but the Professor did not make the experience all that well. His lectures mostly included him reading from our textbook. After a while of taking this class, we stopped following the "syllabus". It just wasn't as organized. Asking him questions also bothered him for some reason.
Worst professor ever. He doesnt explain anything
You would expect this class to be fun and easy. But this professor makes the class unbearable. He just reads off the textbook in class. You're better off taking another professor.
PROS: -brilliant -very funny -high standards CONS: -unorganized -intimidating -high standards If you're worried about your GPA, avoid this professor, but if you want to have a rich educational experience, go for it. He has too much respect for his students (my generous reading of it) to dumb things down, so always do the readings and take notes.
I took this class as prerequisite since Im a freshman. I was excited to learn about Latin but this professor made it a tedious experience. He doesnt teach anything, he just reads from the textbook and if theres something confusing he goes if you dont know what this mean, look it up like???? Okay youre the teacher. So disorganized with grades
he's basically a human audiobook, reads directly from the textbook and doesn't give further explanations. doesn't give study guides or topics to study for exams. he has no sense of humor and dismisses questions he doesn't want to answer as "unintelligent" or "irrelevant". do not buy a dictionary for this class if you're taking it online.
Took his Greek/Latin Roots class and it was extremely fun and interesting. Very knowledgeable but quite disorganized. The structure is easy to follow if you listen and come to class. You do have to work for your grade though. He demands excellence and waves off stupid questions clearly stated in the syllabus.
this class it was not something I was expected, he assigned readings and the next day in class we'd go over it. this was about the only time I felt like I was learning something. The issue was the textbook and the lack of relevent notes. He would go agianst Tamara Green's Textbook it made it super confusing. Way of presenting info needs work.
This professor is horrible. He is genuinely mean to his students, does not follow the syllabus whatsoever, and will dismiss questions because he thinks they're dumb or not legitimate. Every time I have emailed him with questions, his response is completely demeaning and makes no sense. Do not take this class unless necessary!!!!
He's extremely knowledgeable. If you're genuinely interested in the material the course covers, it'll be a relatively enjoyable semester. My main takeaways: 1. Class doesn't really follow the syllabus. Homework is assigned + gone over the following class. 2. You REALLY have to be at nearly every lecture, do every hw, and memorize to get an A or B.
I advise all undergrad students, do NOT take this professor! The class doesn't fully follow the syllabus + it's vague and you will only be graded on the tests. The tests only cover like 5 things of the 100+ you are expected to memorize in a week and he didn't seem to care about the students struggling, only told us to just do better.
(Part 2) There is a dictionary assignment that I recommend working on throughout the entire term instead of the day before. Use spaced repetition throughout the entire semester, so you don't forget anything before the cumulative exams. Unfortunately, he is not too honest about what he says will be on the test, so always study everything.
(Part 1) DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if you are interested in something else or want to spend more time in another class because this class is very time-consuming, unexpectedly. Study everything in the textbook and take VERY detailed notes of all the small things he says in class because the tests are very specific and include info from both.
His lectures are very intriguing, and he is quite knowledgeable. However, he has a very short temper, and is disorganized (he really doesn't follow the syllabus). All of his quizzes are questions directly from the textbook, and he goes over those questions in class. MEMORIZE the answers to all the textbook questions to be successful in his class.
I wouldn't recommend this professor unless you don't have a choice. It was an introductory course, and he expected way too much of us. He makes you study a whole lot, and puts 5 question on the exam that are very random and not what you could ever expect. His final exam is TEDIOUS. If he sees you putting effort in, he might elevate your final grade
Personally, I loved the class and thought it was incredibly interesting but sometimes it was more time consuming then studying for chemistry. The test are 70% textbook and 30% of stuff he will randomly say in class so "attendance isn't mandatory" but you need to be there for the exams. lowest quiz gets dropped-and youll need that drop badly.
Syllabus isn't clear, he doesn't answer questions without attitude unless he favors you, very heavy, boring, unorganized lectures. For the final we have to memorize all of the 5+ books we read and write 7 short essays in 2 hours with no review, on top of 10 page term paper with no guidance. I'm stressed. Don't recommend.
There will be lots of memorization in this class, he teaches based on the textbook. He does have a big attitude and answers rudely to his students and makes them feel dumb. I don't recommend taking this class with him unless it is very necessary. To pass this class, do the homework and memorize whatever he tells you and try to participate.
The teacher is somewhat of a strict grader, his tests are heavily based off his in-class lectures and the textbook readings. So be prepared to take lots of notes and read a lot. He is knowledgeable in what he teaches. Sometimes he would go off on tangents on topics being discussed, some may find it boring but (personally) they were interesting.
I'd recommend you don't take this class unless you have to. His tests consist of random questions from 3-4 chapters of a reading and you need to study even the authors, titles, side characters, etc. He is extremely knowledgable but doesn't do right by us on exams and what to study exactly. Just find a different professor or class.
He's very funny and cares about the students. He pushes you to be better and let's you know what he expects. He's NOT a tough grader he just wants to see effort and "intelligent mistakes" are okay. The exam is cumulative so do yourself a favor and remember the prior content even when you move forward.
He's funny during lectures but he can be very rude. He'd have smart remarks to say when anyone would ask him to explain things on the homework/exams. He knows the material very well and you can tell he enjoys the topic, so lectures were actually informative. Exams are pretty straightforward, just make sure you do the homework and attend class.
Professor Theodoracopoulos can be tough, but engaging. Attend class, study the textbook, and utilize tools like Unstuck AI to prep for exams. The workload is heavy, but it's worth the effort.
This man was a king. Yes, he was a little disorganized and didn't make it through the syllabus, but he taught in detail and really cared about the material. Study for his quizzes, as they can be a bit tricky, but if you put in effort, he grades pretty kindly. Definitely come to lectures and take a lot of notes because there is a lot to learn.
The professor is pretty fun. He's extremely knowledgeable on the topic and does well explaining when posed questions, although has a slight accent. Most, if not all, questions brought up on tests were discussed during lectures, so it's highly encouraged to attend his lectures. But questions were nitpicky sometimes (in terms of vocabulary).
Very knowledgeable. The tests are pretty straightforward, it's what he says in the lecture and some of the exact questions from the homework. However, you will need to study a lot to do well on the exams. Try not to be late to the lectures or miss them since the tests contain what he explains in class. He also doesn't really follow the syllabus.
This professor is incredible. Do not get discouraged by some ratings. He cares as long as YOU show that you care! You will learn so much from him. I find his lectures hilarious at times. He is a very fun guy. 10/10 recommend taking him. Just be prepared to do the work. If you want to grow and learn, take one of his classes. Attendance matters.
Be ready to memorize 200+ vocabulary words in this class. Goes over a lot of material during lecture that end up on the exam, so do show up to lectures and take notes. He is very understanding and reassuring. Doesn't follow the syllabus at all so do keep on track with what is happening.
Professor T is very old school in terms of treatment. Hes kind of rude, and especially rude to those who are late to class without a proper reason. I usually kept my head down, the exams were pretty good, they mainly consist of "who was this character/ whats the story of___". Like trivia! I personally liked this class, but it isnt for everybody
He is nice and extremely understanding if you communicate with him. His lectures are kinda boring and you have to take notes. He does fall behind schedule. You will have to memorize an entire semester's worth of dense reading for his final exam. There is also a 10 page paper due at the end of the term. He does not use Brightspace either.
Whoever is taking this class freshman year avoid him at all cost he's such a bad teacher he read off a book only and expect u to know 30 pages worth of stuff for only 5 question on the test. He's rude and obnoxious. Yall see all those 5 stars don't believe them cause it's all a lie. If u do take the class I wish u so much luck.
Lots of reading but he is a great guy who always cares if you do. He drops lots of hints about the exam throughout the course so you have to attend.
