She is always very professional, helpful and knowledgeable. Class project was very helpful in getting an internship and possibly a future job. Thank you!
She is an excellent professor that offers great feedback and instruction! She provided me with an excellent letter of recommendation after working hard in her clurse. She is very fair and rewards effort and quality work.
The professor brings a global perspective to the subject. She encourages participation and dialogue among students, and creates a warm friendly environment for the students. Overall, being in her class is a great experience.
She definitely knows what she it talking about. Very educated, puts a lot of effort into making sure she is clear in class. She offers substantial bonus for attendance, but lacks empathy for things other teachers are happy to deal with. Overall, she's a great teacher.
I have not finished this class yet, but it has been awesome. The readings and the open-discussion culture of the class have already helped me in my career. I truly have enjoyed this class - it is a lot of writing, but it seems like most of the topics are things that all students can relate to and that the get passionate about!
This is one of the only classes I go out of my way to recommend to other students. Professor Ibrayeva is very well read and provides students with a good taste of everything you might come across with regard to O.B. in the real world. Input from other students was also interesting and fun to read. No tests also made it fairly stress-free.
I have no reason not to recommend this class to other students. I have taken two classes from her and always enjoy the discussions and the insight she brings through her experience and extensive research. She is very understanding of students' situations and willing to spend time helping you understand or just discuss any matter. No complaints
Prof. Ibrayeva is not only a great educator but also a great person who is understanding and very fair. Everything that we had to do for class was relevant and I gained so much from this class and I felt everything was worthwhile and not just busy work. I respect her very much especially her drive and motivation to learn and educate others.
International Business online with Dr. Ibrayeva was great! She is a wonderful teacher who goes out of her way to help her students learn. The discussion boards & cases were the main parts of this class. I learned a great deal & would recommend this class to any MBA student. A must take- great teacher (you learn a lot + she's really nice).
Write a short video reaction in almost every class, which is very easy to get full points. The four exams are totally based on the textbook,so you have to read the book super carefully to remember lots of details, otherwise you will feel the exam quite difficult. 20 extra credits are given. Finally got A.
Super nice and really friendly. Introduce yourself and she'll remember your name for the rest of the semester. The only bad thing was her attendance policy. Under no circumstances can you avoid losing attendance points if you miss class (even if you're gone for university excused absences.) Otherwise it was a great class that I really enjoyed!
She is great. Very clear about her expectations. Her lectures were interesting, positive, and inspiring. I learned some interesting facts. Attendance is mandatory for extra credit. Also, she highlights some information that would be on the exam. Exams aren't easy, but passible to get a good grade with all the extra credit. I would recommend her.
She gave us an excellent learning experience. I would not miss a chance to study again in a class she teaches. She was very responsive, remembered our names and could engage the entire class. She had clearly put much thought and work into designing the course material, flow of information and topic integration & relevance.
Prof Ibrayeva is outstanding. She took a normally dry material, and did her best to transform it into relatable material. Don't get in the habit of sitting on your computer in class, because all you have to do is listen to lectures and do the homework. She is probably one of the smartest people I have ever met. Her dedication is excellent as well!
Very interesting class and was a subject she seemed passionate about which made the lectures interesting. Tests were a little more difficult but the class projects and discussions were beneficial and enjoyable. Overall, good experience with this professor. She was there to help if you needed it!
One of best teachers and classes. If you are interested in becoming an international leader or working overseas, this class is necessary. There are 8 assignments, one each week. No final exam but lots of reading and writing, which is fun.
Professor Ibrayeva was fantastic. Her reading and books for the course were excellent. Thought provoking and inspirational. This was an excellent course with an excellent professor.
There is not enough space to write how much I learned taking classes from professor Ibrayeva, not just about the material but about myself. The cirriculum is designed in a fashion that requires deep thought. Assignments have a well-defined purpose and no busy work is ever assign. She respects her students' individuality and time. Def recommend
The test are super easy if you read the book carefully. Most of people get an A or A- in this class. Very strict on ATTENDANCE, but if you follow her every single role, she will give you 20 extra credit at the final! You will also ask to write a summarize of the video reaction during the class time, so be sure you come to class every week!
She gives you 20 extra credit points if you dont miss any classes. There are video reaction papers (3 paragraphs) due at the end of each class that are graded based on completion and worth 10 points - Do not miss any of these because they are a huge part of the grade. Show up to class and you will get a good grade.
This was my first class in the MBA program. I had not taken classes for nearly 20 years prior to this class. The professor was engaging and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this instructor.
One of my worst professors yet. I have no idea how she gets these positive ratings. Her exams are terrible. Many questions don't even test concepts--they're just random useless facts from the textbook. There are 400-word video reflections on 15-minute videos that are due an hour after class ends. I wish I could say more but character limit.
Absolute worst professor I've ever had. She had video reflection papers where you watch the video in class & paper is due an hour later. If you ask her a question about the test, she'll tell you to check the syllabus(???) because she's busy watching to make sure there is no cheating. Tests have random sentences from the book. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF.
She's not clear at all with what she expects on homework assignments. My video reflection grades kept getting worse without any sort of feedback, even though each time I've been putting more effort into them. The exams are terrible, even though I'm a straight-A student. One of the worst professors I've had 0/10
Does not explain anything clearly. Don't expect to learn anything in class. You basically need to teach yourself through the online coursework/homework, textbook is online only. half the time the teacher is off in la la land talking about irrelevant.
Every few classes we have 20 min videos that we watch at the end of class and write reflections on. Students could do this at home, but she purposefully doesn't post the videos online so we can't watch them on our own time. I prefer to pause videos that I need to write mini-essays on, but she gets angry if people leave her class for any reason.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. She is literally out to get you on exams with questions like Complete the following sentence from the textbook & the blank is for a percentage from some irrelevant survey. Dont forget the exam articles you have to read, 1 page video reflections & leadership stories due every class period, weekly online homework, terrible lec
Roughly 15% of questions on her exams consist of random statistics or other useless information like "Name the CEO of Company X" taken from studies/examples in the textbook. Even if you read the textbook thoroughly, you'll most likely end up guessing on most of these questions. She clearly does not know how to test course concepts.
She does not write tests that are truly assessing your knowledge of important and relevant content of the course. Her lectures have not helped me better my understanding of management.
Learned a lot about motivation, engagement, and happiness. Presented few times as a group. Instructs demands discipline, but she is fair to all students.
Elina is a very good teacher. Her lecture is very interactive and interesting that comprise with games, group projects and presentations. I'm a international student. I used to afraid of presentation. Bur after taking her class, my speech skill improves a lot during the practice. The most important thing to notice is submit assignment in time.
Her tests are tough, you need to read really into detail. Sometimes she asks questions that I think are irrelevant just to see if people are really reading in depth. But does give extra credit for not missing a class. Also you can pass as long as you do all of the other assignments. Tests are tough but besides the tests she's a good teacher.
I got a lot out of this class. The exams were tough, because they were really specific. She gives extra credit so that makes the tough tests easy to overlook. I learned a lot from the different videos and leadership stories. You will like her if you do your part otherwise you wont like her because she does not except late work.
She is a great professor, push us to do lots of reading but I have to admit that I learn many important knowledge that related with culture and leadership. She also likes share her personal experiences with the whole class in order to help students better understand the global leadership basis, wise but strict to the rules, but she is awsome!
Interesting lectures and group projects were really fun!!
This class sparked my interest in management and organizations. Interesting articles and videos!
I enjoyed this class very much, and learned a lot. The reading material was excellent. I'm definitely going to keep the books. The course was well designed and very creative. Professor used most recent technologies such as asking us to record a video presentation, and work as a group on a wiki research project.
The class itself is very interesting. The book is easy to read and the homework is fairly simple if you pay attention. Elina is hard to approach if you have questions though and don't ask her to extend a deadline, she will go on a ten minute tirade about it. The tests are very specific so make sure you read all of the materials.
Only took this class because it was required for my minor. You have to buy the book, which is online, & a membership to TopHat (that's how she takes attendance). There are 3 assignments for every chapter. She likes to take direct sentences out of the textbook for exams. You also watch videos with questions and do leadership story assignments.
Professor Ibrayeva is one of my favorite professors thus far. Her expectations are high, but that is what should be expected. If you read the book and come to class you should perform well in the class. If you talk with her and don't argue with her policies she is easy to get along with. Bottom line: TRY and you should do just fine.
I really loved her! She definitely has a wealth of knowledge and offers many chances for networking with CEOs and businesses around Lincoln. Her exams are tough, but just read the textbook THROUGHLY and you'll do fine.
Elina is very successful and wants her students to learn to work hard. So she challenges you. Her tests were irritating because they did not reflect your knowledge on mngt only memorization. PLUS she made us read 2-3 articles that were 5-12 pages long each and said there would be questions on the test over them. Like so pointless Grr.
Great professor! Her knowledge is vast and she really cares about her students! Take classes with her.
Good professor, cares about her students, incorporates newest technology into her courses to make sure students are familiar with new tools
Dr. Ibrayeva's class is a nice change from the usual MBA format. She let us be creative with assignments and was helpful with questions. Would take again.
The lectures are boring and her accent can be hard to understand. They consist of a lot of videos like ted talks and guest speakers. The class is graded off of 4 tests and weekly online homework. Her tests are all memorization questions from the textbook and some articles she assigns, 1 or 2 per week. Huge pain and I didn't learn much.
Dr. Elina is very energetic and optimistic. Her voice fills with excitement when she teaches. She has a lot of activities during her every lectures including hotseat, class participation, and guest speakers. I love hotseat and class participation because I have the privilege to share my insight and like guest speakers because I make connection.
Dr. Ibrayeva's class is not easy but you are going to learn a lot from it. She uses MindTap, TopHat, and Canvas and all of her required readings are brand new and interesting to read.
The class has been challenging but also engaging and relevant. It wasn't only about theory, there were many great speakers, company stories, and videos. Elina is a strong and positive role model!
Elina is pretty nice and cares about her students. The course is 25% hw, 25% in class tophat questions and 50% exams. Her exams are kind of nit picky, but thats just because the material isn't that difficult in the first place. She brings in good guest speakers from local businesses
Professor Ibrayeva is by far one of the best instructors at UNL. Her teaching style makes you think. She challenges her students to think critically by giving thought provoking assignments. She cares more about the learning experience and each students intellectual growth in critical thinking rather than rote memorization of the subject matter.
I took it over the summer online and the quizzes are very hard over lots of material but on 15 questions and 10 min to take it. Also she doesn't grade anything the TA does it all. She only likes to be contacted during business hours as well. Over all there was just one paper 3 quizzes presentation and homework. The paper was like the whole grade
Professor Ibrayeva cares deeply about providing the best for her students. She focuses on teaching the newest and best management practices in the industry through various texts. Her creative course design allows room for creativity and stimulating conversation in the class. The concepts she introduced will benefit me for many years in my career.
She's a relatively good professor, but her course policies fluctuated throughout the course. Some concepts in the course could be explained better, so be prepared to read the book and do the homework every week. The book doesn't line up with lectures the best, but skimming through the chapters and the assigned readings will help on exams.
This is a poor class. The class is 50% exams, 25% in-class Top Hat questions, and 25% online homework. The Top Hat questions are given in class, and she will not let you make up the questions if you miss class for any reason. Tests aren't too hard, but some questions are extremely nit-picky. Extra credit is given for participation which is nice.
DON'T miss class!!! TopHat questions and Attendance matters in this class. Get ready to read A LOT in both articles she assigns and the book. Exams are relatively easy if you read the chapters prior to the exam. She is NOT a bad professor, I just think the class is VERY material heavy for the amount of time given. Grading is fair, she compromises.
Elina is tough but fair. You can really get as much or as little E.C. as you want if you talk in class and get the perfect attendance points. Since the class is so big she feels the need to have strict rules and policies so things don't get out of control, READ THE BOOK for the tests, makes it way easier. Show up and read and you'll be fine.
She is a nice lady! She comes off as super tough and strict. She is very nice in office hours if you talk to her. Test heavy. Read the textbook or you won't pass. Read the textbook very carefully. Do not skip class. Attendance is extra credit.
Professor Ibrayeva wants her students to succeed and makes it pretty easy as long as you work. You have to read the book to do well on her tests, but they aren't too difficult. Show up to class prepared to answer the Tophat questions and you'll do fine. She offers a ton of extra credit for those who speak up in class and for good attendance.
Her tests are literally word for word definitions, quotes, and dates out of the book - read the book and take notes from the Remember This section for tests. TopHat participation in class is a must for a good grade, but she goes fast so be sure to pay attention to when questions appear. Tests are majority of grade so be sure to read and study
Reading the book is essential in this class, which is where I learned the majority of the material. She rewards you for perfect attendance. The test questions are usually straightforward, but she can be very specific when asking about the 2-3 exam articles. TopHat grade is important and the homework takes the average of the three attempts.
Professor Ibrayeva is amazing! She sets clear expectations of students and gives students a clear roadmap of what it takes to be successful in the class. Attendance is graded, but honestly you'd be a fool for missing class; she brings insight and experience to the classroom as well as top-level managers from across the country. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Great professor, loves to interact with students and hear feedback. Also makes sure that a lecture hall full of students put in effort to earn a grade!, love the articles that we are told to read, although they might be long and time consuming at times.
Professor Ibrayeva makes sure you learn something new every lecture! In addition, she provides very informative and useful articles to read to gain a competitive edge in a job market. There are a lot of opportunities to earn extra credit! If you read the book and listen during lectures exams will be very easy for you!
She is very knowledgeable about management and you will definitely learn great information, but be aware of bad advice. She encouraged the class to look into First Data even though they are known for being terrible internships. She is out of touch in that regard. Read the book, come to class, and pay half attention in class and it's an easy A.
Favorite teacher of this semester.
Dr. Ibrayeva is incredibly passionate about global management philosophy and cultures. She brings a (needed) different perspective to class, being from Kazakhstan, and is more than happy to share her stories to bring home a topic. Her classes have very clear paths to success; just make sure to follow her rules on attendance!
Her lectures relate to nothing that is on the test. Attendance is mandatory, and there are a lot of points that are in class. Homework assignments every weekend as well as a blog. You just have to read the book before the test
Dr. Ibrayeva's classes are well organized. The syllabus is crystal clear-as long as a student reads the textbook and makes sure to read the strategy articles in class and do the weekly homework, an A in this class is very achievable! She is an extremely fair grader and is great to talk to outside of class. Ever motivating, mindful professor.
If you read the book you will do fine in this class. Her lectures are boring and she holds herself in very high regard. I did get a laugh out of a few of her views regarding management. I didn't learn a lot from this class I felt like it was more so a lot of questions straight out of the book. Mindtap homework every week and a weekly blog required.
Fantastic professor. More than fair. Strict deadlines and a bunch of reading but nothing too difficult.
She gives clear and organized lectures. She makes students participate despite the class being a huge lecture. The weekly blogs helped me to become more positive.
She is very organized and her expectations are clear. In 'Leadership from a Global Perspective' she made the class do many presentations. This may sound daunting but it was marketed in an easy way. And it was. She is, however, blunt in her assessment with you. It will make you better. Her background gives unique perspective on the class.
I took MNGT 301 online during summer. The online class is way easier than the in class one during school year. Dr. Ibrayeva is very strict on due days. But she is always available to help her students when they have any questions on not only the coursework, but also any other questions the student may have.
Dr. Ibrayeva is a very good professor! She expects you to put forth the time and effort with reading/homework. If you do the readings and put the time in, the course is overall pretty easy. She doesn't give out easy A grades but is also not an incredibly difficult grader. Do the reading and stay on top of things. She is very nice and ready to help!
Her lectures are pointless. Everything the tests and homework are over is from the online textbook. If you don't read the book you won't do well. One of the worst in-class professors I have had. I can honestly say I didn't learn a single thing from her as a professor. Highly recommend taking this class with a different professor.
Tests are straight from the book. Lectures and homework carry no significance. Attendance is mandatory, and you have to pay $26 to purchase tophat to earn some more meaningless attendance points through tophat questions. Lectures are boring and drawn out, but a great opportunity to complete one of the many weekly homework assignments you're given.
She really makes an effort unlike some business profs here at UNL. However, I didn't really click with her or the material. The class seemed more like life advice then a management class sometimes. I found if you read the book and articles before the exam you could get an A on all of them without taking notes during lectures. Offer extra credit.
Dr. Ibrayeva's class is heavy in content; but, you will learn a lot from it. Especially, thanks to her many personal anecdotes. The book is a must read to get the content; the lectures are a plus to understand the concepts in a globalized context.
Elina is AWESOME! She does not just focus on the course materials but she often invites the great speakers to cover different topics that help students to better prepare in the future career. Also, she motivates students to stay positive and encourages students to step out of the comfort zones and try to get professional networking. 1word-FANTASTIC
One of the worst lectures Ive ever sat through
I liked that Dr. Ibrayeva clearly laid out her expectations at the beginning of the semester so that I knew exactly how to get my grade. It was a large class (250+ students) but Elina found a way to make the lectures engaging. If you take notes in class and read the book you will do just fine. Dr. Ibrayeva is a positive and inspirational woman!
I love Dr. Ibrayeva. Especially for Global Leadership, the online class was laid out extremely well and with very clear expectations. She is a great communicator and clearly wants students to do well in her class. I loved all our readings. Tests are specific but if you highlight and take notes while reading the book/articles you'll do fine.
Professor Ibrayeva is the best professor at UNL. She is an amazing teacher and incredible mentor. The lessons she taught us and the articles she assigned to us are so useful and practical. The guest speakers she invited were CEOs and managers of famous companies. Listening to them was an eye-opening experience.
Professor Ibrayeva really cares about her students. She makes an attempt to motivate us to become a better person and more positive towards life. Having her as a teacher changed my attitudes towards life. The weekly blog experience, goal statement and OKR papers helped me figure out my career goals and always notice what's good in life.
She is sometimes hard to understand and can go pretty quick. Has online homework due almost every sunday night as well as a one page blog. Takes attendance through tophat everyday and rewards those that show up by giving some example questions for the tests in class at the end. Have to read articles for every exam
The entire course grade was based on project presentations. Elina is very honest and direct about her feedback and I feel like her style of teaching will be applicable to life outside of college. She has so much to share from her life experiences and is so interesting to listen to! I LOVED THIS CLASS
Professor Elina is one of the best I had at UNL. She was very clear on what to do to get a really high grade in the class. She always tries different ways to deliver the information which make it fun to attend the class. That being said, she a very nice person even outside the class and she cares and gives you tips on how to succeed in life.
Most painfully boring lectures you will ever sit through, but she's a nice lady and it's an easy class if you show up (questions given in class are 20% of grade). She would be an excellent grad school professor, but in a class of 300+ students, she tends to just ramble about an extremely broad topic or repeat word for word of the slides.
One of the most applicable MBA courses. Elina is a very innovative and creative instructor, excellent course design and execution. Highly recommend!
Attendance and participation points are super easy. However, the exams are more based off of the book and readings than her lectures so be sure you read all the chapters and given reading assignments. The biggest part of exams is statistics given in readings along with what businesses and people did what. There is also a some vocab type questions.
Wonderful teacher! Wonderful class! Tons of interesting topics discussed. This is the EPITOME of an awesome online class, and you'll enjoy learning about career-relevant materials and discussing with your classmates in a genuinely effective way!
Professor Ibrayeva fully understands how to teach an online course. The book used is online and very helpful when doing the group projects. The books in the class were books I'd been recommended to read by my superiors and have been helpful to advancing my career. Best teacher I've had so far in my program.
Great class material in applied organizational behavior class! One of the best classes I have ever taken!
Professor Ibrayeva really knows how to make an online class! She is extremely knowledgable and helpful, I would take 100 classes with her if possible.
Prof Ibrayeva is a great professor who has a really well designed online class. There is a fair amount of reading, but great choices of books, so it is interesting and relevant plus very practical (not dry or too theoretical). Learned a lot. Grading criteria is clear. It is obvious she takes pride in being an educator.
Prof Ibrayeva would ask us to write a paper and I am 100% sure she would read each and every paper thoroughly which very few prof do cause of the time constraint. She would give positive feedback on the assignment which was always encouraging. Learnt a lot on how to portray ones thoughts into words.
I really enjoyed the different approach of teaching and learning from her courses. Each Monday I would have a pow-wow with my Marines and teach them everything I learned from her courses and apply it to us in our work center. She is transformative in her teaching and really gets you to think. Amazing professor!!
Dr. Ibrayeva is one of the best professors I have had in all of my classes (undergrad and grad). Through her lectures and assignments, you look at things in a different lens than you normally would and it truly generates some of the best learning I have ever had. She's a wonderful person and an amazing professor. A MUST TAKE PROFESSOR!
The tests were never over the class content but rather videos she attached and articles. The questions on the test were about such specific details from the articles rather than the actual class. When I reached out to ask about extra help or what I could do to get a better grade she said "Other people scored worse". Would not take again.
Exams are over videos and readings that are assigned but ask super specific questions over videos that are over an hour long and readings that are 10 or more pages. Exams are impossible to score over an 80 on even with hardcore studying. I'm a 4.0 student and still struggle with this class. Don't take for your GPA, this should be an easy class.
Probably the laziest professor I've had in college so far. The only way she "teaches" us is by posting the powerpoints that our textbook company supplies her and by giving us random youtube videos and articles to go over that are extremely time consuming and provide little benefit. I wish I could say more, but I'm out of characters. 0/10 she sucks.
Extremely homework heavy with little to no actual teaching. The lectures are just powerpoint slides that she didn't create herself. Good luck getting over a 75% on the test. They are over video lectures of other teachers and the questions are so specific that even after watching the hour video you are likely to have missed items she will ask about.
I did passed with a B! I am so excited because was a little traumatized beforehand. Elina has high expectations but she is also very approachable and supportive. She responded to all of my emails and questions. I loved all of the video lectures and SmartBook assignments. She also taught us to be more positive and resilient.
Elina is the most dedicated professor and is extremely passionate about her subject. I've learned a lot about culture, management styles, & positive psychology. This was a fun interactive class that is intriguing and rewarding. She also provides some great book recommendations and reading materials on culture and global innovation. Fair Grader!
Another fantastic class from Elina! Her courses are structured in a fun interactive way. You'll learn about learning agility, mindfulness, and personality. The required books/ readings are really good too!
I was highly disappointed by Professor Ibrayeva's class this semester. No lectures from her at all. Her tests were mainly over outside reading and were very difficult. She constantly had issues with grades in Canvas and would not work quickly to get it fixed. I learned barely anything from this class. Find another professor and save yourself.
She wasnt accommodating with any issues or questions. She was honestly quite rude and demeaning in most interactions. She didnt even do any actual teaching, just made us watch videos and read PowerPoints that she didnt make. I luckily made it out with an A, but I dont believe that is at all due to her or her teaching ability.
I took multiple business classes during the pandemic, which had its challenges, but this was one of my favorites. Assignments are due every Sunday so there arent any sneaky grades to miss. There is extra credit for academic honesty on tests. Elina really cares about students success, and makes the class interesting with different speaker videos.
She sets clear expectations up front and like a good manager, she holds you to it. Her course has stood out to me in my MBA program and I repeatedly apply knowledge gathered from her course to life/other courses. Highly recommend for someone Looking to learn. Beware of the first week though, its a lot to take in but it gets better.
Dr. Ibrayeva is one of my FAVORITE professors at UNL, and I learned a great deal from her MNGT 414 class, which has been one of my favorite in my college career. She does a great job of ensuring that students understand the course material, and is very helpful in answering questions. Her class is one that will leave you with applicable knowledge!
Lectures were amazing, guaranteed A if you take the time to review the material and study before test. Classes were not just lectures but a mix of having guest speakers and watching some videos. Course material is also constantly updated and applicable in our work/personal life.
Very homework heavy, smartbook assignments due every Sunday took around 2 hours, if not more. Stupid amount of "self assessments" due every Sunday along with other homework assignments. She is not accomodating at all and felt rude at times. Her tests are pretty difficult and due on whatever Sunday she assigns. I personally do not reccommend her.
Do not take her class! The majority of your grade will come from exams which are not at all over the content of the course or anything that she "teaches". Her "teaching" is just a compilation of other people's work.
Teaching style is different but in a good way. I really enjoyed the speakers and the book we read (a real book, not a textbook). The book was something I will carry with me into my career because I actually learned something applicable to real life! She also has lots of knowledge and stories from living in various places which is fun to hear about
For MNGT the homework is nothing like the quizzes. She used McGrawHill which in my experience makes for a lazy professor, as this is my second class that uses this that the professor doesn't help with at all. There are no lectures for this class and she just gives videos of other professors and people talking about the content.
The first couple exams consisted of question based on lectures, textbook, and less than 100 pages of articles. Exam three was based on about 10 videos and the textbook. The questions and answers have glaring grammatical errors like they were thrown together at the last moment. The answer choices are so obscure and similar that it makes you doubt...
There is a trade-off to this professor - her MNGT 301 course is more difficult than other professors', but she brings in real-world information and industry connections that are charming to future interviewers. I have learned so much from her! To succeed in this class, start studying early and keep track of statistical figures in the readings.
Professor Ibrayeva was one of my favorite professors. She provided genuine and helpful feedback and pushed our understanding of what it really takes to be a leader in the global market. Her use of the Gallup survey really helped to coalesce the class experience with the self evaluation of what qualities each of us possess.
Honestly one of the more interesting classes I have taken in years. The reading material had a direct impact on my work, and what seemed like an easy course on the curriculum became one of the most thought-provoking and, from a personal growth perspective, challenging classes I have been through. I happen to enjoy this.
This course was a healthy challenge. It forced me to get into the book, take notes, and study hard. If I did this, I would receive great grades on the 4 exams there were. The class was engaging and Elina uses a lot of different remote teaching methods. Be ready to take detailed notes and study hard! If you do, you will receive a guaranteed A!
Be prepared. The tests are not at all over the content that she teaches. You will have to do lots of reading outside of class. These readings will make up the exam with the smallest details being emphasized. If possible do not take her course!
a great class with lots to learn from a person with immense knowledge and patience, you are my inspiration, Ma'am!
The tests have questions from hours worth of reading/videos, and the questions are off of a tiny detail that had absolutely nothing to do with what you were reading. She doesn't teach anything, and makes you just read things from McGraw Hill or other things. Horrific professor.
I studied 4-5 hrs a week and 8hrs exam weeks. Read every chapter thoroughly and took scrupulous notes. When it came to the exams, they were absolutely ridiculous. Maybe 15% of the book info was on the exam, and the rest recalled information from supplemental videos. DO NOT TAKE. She does little "teaching" and just makes you watch other ppls videos
Dr. Ibrayeva's passion showed through even though the class was online. Exams have a significant chunk based on supplemental readings or videos. I found them actually interesting, but they are hard to study for on an exam. Keep up with weekly HW and you'll be great. There was a good amount of extra credit made available at the end of the semester.
Start EVERYTHING early. Lot of questions on test are on irrelevant, microscopic details from many long articles and long videos. Do all xtra credit and journals, they help ur grade alot. Long smartbook due each week. Some questions on test arent covered in study guide so be ready. If u find better option for this class then take it.
Definitely take this class! This is the kind of class that you will use in your career regularly and teaches you valuable lessons. Class focuses on positivity and mindfulness at an organizational level. Class is mostly journals and papers. Professor Ibrayeva is one of the best professors at UNL! Supportive, passionate and truly wants you to succeed
It is important to read the book and articles and take notes. Professor Ibrayeva has very clear grading criteria and lets everyone know her expectations. If you put in the work you will get a good grade. I thought she was a great professor and truly cares about her students! Content is applicable in all areas of life
I learned so much from this class. If you enjoy reading, you will definitely enjoy the articles and books that Prof. Ibrayeva curated for this class. I did not know what to expect from the class, but if you read the required readings the essays are not too bad. After taking this class, I took two more classes from her.
MNGT 828 is a required elective for MBA to meet the International overlay. I cannot emphasize enough how important this class is in this day and age. With Prof. expertise and experience internationally, there's no doubt, she's the best fit to teach this class. As always, she finds the best book to read for learning.
The professor is very authoritarian, and you must follow her rules. A lot of assignments and the exam have the most weight. She is not flexible, doesn't care much for what students think. If you take her course, I advise you to do the HW in advance and create your summary to be prepared for the exam.
Elina is a highly creative and passionate about the course content. This is clearly not "just a course" for her. Everything from the outside readings to the group projects were meaningful and relevant for working professionals. The course was a breath of fresh air among the core MBA classes at UNL.
Leadership in a Global Context was a real gem! It fulfills the international overlay in the program. Elina's teaching style evokes a sense of adventure, wonder, and connectedness to a larger world. The course for me sparked a real curiousity about global culture, and provides highly useful context for domestic and international business alike.
Professor Ibrayeva is one of the best professors that I have ever had, I wish I could take more of her classes!!!
She is wonderful. I had her for two classes within the program and learned a lot. One piece of advice is to check out her syllabus early so you can read the books as there were 1-2 books (cover to cover) to be read during the term. Fair grader and pushes you but you can do well if you read and watch the videos for each week.
Overall great class that I learned a lot about myself. I took the accelerated summer session so I had to write 1-2 papers or projects per week. Overall she gives good advice and feedback. I found ways to incorporate Positivity for Managers in my current role.
She is nice and all but her tests SUCK!!! There are a lot of questions that have to do with outside reading. I don't get how she expects us to memorize those stupid articles. The test questions are half course material and half these random readings. IT SUCKS! I don't recommend taking her class, even when I studied for hours I would do bad.
This professor is very responsible for the students. Great class, learned a lot!
She is a fun professor to talk to and it was not that hard of a class. 200/400 points are exams while the remaining 200 points are smartbooks and a few easy projects. The exams are the worst part because it is not really information from the smartbooks but rather the videos she assigns you to watch. If you watch all the videos then the exam is easy
I took this course as part of my Int'l Business specialization for my MBA. I saw the syllabus, saw the reviews for Prof. Ibrayeva and seriously considered changing courses. I am 100% glad that I did not and that I continued with the course. She's an amazing professor, with tremendous knowledge. Read, study, and prepare and you should do well!
She isn't flexible with any events outside her class and also her tests are very specific questions from specific articles. Her lecture videos aren't the greatest and I don't feel like they help me learn anything.
Dr. Elina's lectures were very interesting and it was a pleasure to talk to her. The grade for this course depends mainly on the exam. However, if you watch the review materials and videos she gives before the exam, then the exam is not difficult. The content in the exam she gives in the videos.
How can I fit my disgust for this professor in so few words... Adjectives: Useless, Bull-headed, Cocky, Overpaid, Unnecessary Hard(butt), and Power Hungry. Comparisons: 40 year old in the rec that only shoots 3's and thinks he's good, the person that puts down a draw 4 in UNO, standing on the edge of your room and saying "I'm not in your room"
I don't understand why Professor Elina is getting this negative feedback. As someone who has taken both of her classes, clear and direct feedback is provided from the start of the class. Group projects have always been fun with her. While we're responsible to stay on top of work, she is always available to lend a hand. Great professor to talk with!
It was a very informative course. It certainly takes time and effort to do well in the course. Heavy reading but you also learn a lot from the course. Articles and lectures provided in the class are very useful in interviews and discussions.
Elina assigns so many assignments and does not allow or accept any late work with any excuse. You have to do journals every Sunday, and McGraw assignments that take up so much time. You have to watch long videos and write paragraphs about them. The exams are so hard because you have to memorize various videos and each thing the person said.
This class is literally a joke. Her lecture videos dont teach you anything and you are completely reliant on the book. Her exam ask super specific questions like quotes from her lecture videos or random stats she mentioned halfway through a video. Anything below a 95 is an A-. What a joke
It is very clear Elina's focus is much less teaching how to be successful managers, and instead flexing her authority. Very quick to remind us she is the manager here and we have no power. Something as simple as trying to change an appointment time to fit my schedule resulted in belittling: "Employees DO NOT upward delegate their manager's time"
I liked her so much that I enrolled in another one of her classes. She uses a variety of media for the lessons and homework. The content was extremely engaging and she was a skilled teacher, knowing the right balance of lecture, self-paced reading, amount of work, and timing.
Take this class. Dr I expects MBA-level work. A LOT of reading, videos. Group work on several projects. The course isn't hard, easy on grading, but time intensive - it focuses on exposing you to different and successful practices and methodologies. I wish more classes were like this. Expected boring woo-woo class, but I loved it and learned a ton.
Most of the good reviews for her are for master students. 301 with her is a pain. She is obsessed with following the process, and there is NO room to deviate from that. Prepare for a lot of content, picky tests and 10ish assignments due every Sunday. HOWEVER, go in and meet her-- she is a really cool lady, just very strict.
She doesn't care about her students. She likes having "power" over everyone. Pretty sad.
Her class is easy to pass as long as you do the work. You will have group assignments but it doesn't take to long to finish. She does give a lot to read but it's bearable. Her assignments are easy and her tests are not hard, if you read you'll be fine. Her extra credit is amazing, she gives you 20 extra credit points if you do not miss class.
She ignored my first email. I was having issues accessing my Connect assignments through Canvas and contacted Connect about it. Connect told me this was a Canvas issue and to contact my instructor. I tried everything and finally emailed her. She emailed me back after the assignment closed and told me to be proactive and contact Connect-- so rude!
One of the best classes at UNL, the class is professional and helps you to become a great manager and leader. If you put the work you can get the grade you want and also learn a lot. The class is well organized and has a very clear format.
I enjoyed the team projects in the class. Professor Used variety of teaching method to help you understand the content (videos, books, articles, debates). The class was very engaging and I highly recommend it for all grad students.
Asks very specific questions on exams from videos that have nothing to do with management. There is a reason she is a Management Professor and not a real Manager for a company. She would not be a good Manager. She's got a huge ego and thrives on her "power". Surprises me she has such a high score.
Worst professor I've had at UNL by far. Doesn't care about the success of her students and is only worried about having authority. 75% of the material provided in her lectures has nothing to pertain to the course material and usually finds a way to go on a tangent of why students do poorly in her class. Crazy to think she's even allowed to teach
She has an attitude in every video lecture you watch of her. She always feels the need to remind you that she is in charge, and you can't do anything about it. 50+ concept smartbook assignments every week. Exams are graded on very specific questions from video lectures that have nothing to do with material. If you can, avoid her at all costs.
This is definitely a hard course but can be successful if you put the work in. She does a great job of preparing you for the real world and for the rest of college. She responds to emails quickly and is very helpful. Assignments/expectations are very clear and you learn how to be successful in real life by needing to pay attention to deadlines.
95% is an A, which is crazy. You can get a 94 percent in this class and have an A minus. She just is boring and makes tests hard for no reason.
This class was amazing. I learned a lot about leadership in a global context and enjoyed all of the reading and assignments. All were engaging and helped me retain information which I'm able to apply now in my business.
Great class! I enjoyed the assignments and readings/videos. All are very meaningful and relevant to retaining information. I am able to integrate all of the information learned in my role now. Great directions for grading criteria and helpful feedback!
This is one of my favorite classes. I took this almost 2 years ago and still use what I did in those assignments. It's a great class to take for anyone and helps you develop both personally and professionally. Elina is inspirational and provides timely and constructive feedback. The assignments are innovative and fun.
Elina Ibrayeva taught a helpful class. As required for the MBA program, a basic understanding of course concepts was easily learned under your course design. The textbook integration offered a gamified way to learn that incentivized the practice. Discussion boards created peer engagement. A super helpful class overall!
The class can be tough, but if you stay engaged and use helpful study tools like Unstuck ai, you can do well. The professor has a specific style, but going to office hours makes a difference.
Elina was one of the worst professors I have ever had at college. The class starts out with a 100 point discussion post (it is an eighth of your grade) that if you miss she won't give you an extension or even give half credit. I had COVID and was in bed for a week and missed the deadline and she basically told me too bad so sad retake the class.
Elina Ibrayeva is a really good professor! Her class is engaging and applicable if you are interested in management. Late work is not accepted and attendance is mandatory, the tests are based on readings so retain the information, and you're golden. She brings in interesting guest speakers - very engaging. I would take this class again 10/10.
Power hungry and why would somebody who finishes with a 94.99% receive the same grade as somebody who gets a 90%? I was also offended by a comment she made on my career choice over the zoom meeting. Also, ignored my email once. Clearly does not care about her students.
Dr. Ibrayeva assumes a dictator like position over this course. For being an introductory class I personally think it was awful. The only beneficial part was towards the end where we watched international management zoom recordings with former students that could actually give good advice.
Dr. Ibrayeva is an engaging professor who makes the material practical and easy to apply. Her clear teaching style and real-world examples helped the concepts stick. I also appreciated the guest speakers and cultural insights. This was one of the most useful and eye-opening classes I have taken.
