Challenging but she was very helpful. Strict but fair and knows subject well
Her term papers are so hard that no matter how much you try theres no getting an A with her. She doesnt motivate a student she just makes the student think he or she is not capable of passing her class specially after you she checksfirst term paper draft.

How one can't get an A in that class is beyond me. She gives the midterm and final questions,a week before the test to study over, so ya gotta be pretty damn stupid to get anything less than an A. She's an expert in this field and is fully aware of it. Offers tremedous help with research paper.
Very strict but understandable, a business women definely, listen and learn from her, she knows her thing real good. Apa can be a pain at first, but with constructive critism from her, it will not be a problem.

She is challenging, strict, and does not go easy on those who slack off. She is a great professor and an awesome business women. You will surely walk out with more than just an understanding of the class. As long as you work hard and do as she asks she is great and very helpful. For those who dont she can be very intimidating, sarcastic, and mean.
SHES VERY TOUGH ON GRADING, AND SHES VERY VERY STRICT. IF YOU WANT A GOOD AVG. DONT TAKE HER! I PASSED HER CLASS BUT I HAD TO STRUGGLE A LOT.

Very close-minded. If you need help in passing the course, do not expect her to help you. Tests are easy, because info. is in textbook. However, if you have your own opinions in business, do not take her course! I've never met a business professor who hates businesses like she does!

Prof has a bad rep..but if you do all the reading, participate and ask for help you will do fine. Test are very easy...her advice for the business world is priceless!! She is tough, but what do you think your boss would be like?
she seems kind of tough. but she is not. just do the work, and ignore her when she tryes to embarrass you in front of the class...(she likes doing that a lot)... specially if u dont know the answer to a question or if u come late.. even ONE MINUTE late.... if u are a Latecomer, avoid her, attendance is very important. her grading is very easy.
Bad professor! her exams dont count much, its the project that does. whatever grade you receive on your project grade, that is basically your final grade. if there is no participation in class, she will give a quiz the next week.

GREAT TEACHER! If you want to learn something, that's the teacher you are looking for.Gives numerous exaples, very helpful,true to life. Strict on attendance,but do you think your boss would let you being late to work? She makes you feel stupid,only when you really are and you don't participate in the class.Liked her class alot!!!
At times very unprofessional. I wish I would have dropped her class. Rude and not a good overall professor. Surprised to learn that she has been around so long. I do not recommend her to anyone. I am usually a very good student wanting to learn;but, in her class I want to kick myself for not dropping the class. Dont take her class, trust me!!
I took BUS104 and BUS200 with her and I didn't regret it. She is tough, but she explains really well what she wants. Don't be late !! She doesn't like it. This is college so be ready for HW, assigment and powerpoint presentation. Her quizes are fine, usually she gives you everything before, so you can prepare yourself !
Do not take this professor. She is very rude and she has a deep desire to make you feel stupid. If you have registered to take her class, drop it right now. I felt ashamed to even walk into her class because it felt like a waste of time. Not a good overall professor. Dont take the class, thank me later.

I agree this teacher is really HARD, she speaks sometimes to students as though they are useless in their work and always wants to be right. If you are in for hard work and are really into business and don't mind hard criticism, then take the class. I received a B and am very surprised/excited. Don't be afraid to ask for help from her.

Nastiest prof I ever had. I think she is pure evil. DO NOT take Garely. She has a mean streak & will NEVER admit you are doing good work - just criticizes. Acts like a boss - but this is college, not an office & I need explanations! BEWARE!
Dr. Garely can be sarchasthic and mean at times but if you get to know her, you would realize shes a hard working intelligent prof. At first i did not like her but with time i realized how endeering she really is

One of my all-time favorite professors. Dr. Garely is tough as nails and wants you to learn, but wastes no time on the slackers which is fine with me. Do your work, read the material and put out an effort and expect to do well. Try to get one over on her and try to skate through and you'll find yourself in a world of hurt, so GET TO WORK SLACKERS!!

This is the worst professor I ever had. Her instructions to assignments are unclear and when you ask for clarification her clarifications are unclear as well. This lack of clarity harmed my grade.

I do not understand why people say Dr. Garely is a mean professor;beacause she is not. Yes she is stuff, that is because she wants you to grow. If your looking for a prof. who is going to hold your hand and baby you, she is not the 1 4 you, but if your looking for a tough, honest and fair prof. then by all means register for her class.2 thumbs up
Elinor Garely has a brilliant way of making you feel like a complete imbecile. I'd never take any of her classes again, nor would I suggest anyone take her classes. She's rude, vague in her responses, and berates you more than inspires you. Don't listen to what others have to say, the woman clearly doesn't care about her students succeeding. AWFUL!
I really wish I read this before I took this class! I agree that she makes you feel like your're doing well but still fails you. Nothing I did seemed to be right. A complete psycho if u ask me. She would send me something w. corrections and I would re-send and it was still wrong!. Everyone needs to take a stand a complain about her to the dept!!
While I do understand why all these people think she's mean, I think it's really just her tough way of talking. If you're a serious student, want to learn the subject, & follow her instructions EXACTLY, she will like you. She does give A's if you work hard. I got an A in nearly every assignment -- and for the course. She even *offered* to write a recommendation for me. Not evil - just not for slackers used to doing the bare minimum of work!
very unorganized, had to drop the class 2nd wk..she was not organized and expected alot from you, had to figure out what to do on my own..everything was all over the place..by the way it was an online class

She's unorganized the worse proffessor that i have ever had OMG stay away from her.
I provided her in-depth point by point critique of how scattered, confusing, and contradictory her course material was, expecting her to address the mess she was passing off to the students to wade through. Organization was too much to ask of her. I went to the faculty, who took a look at it, but it wasn't going to get fixed soon. CAVEAT EMPTOR!
RUN AWAY!! Never missed a class (which she takes attendance before class starts). did all homeworks (done on EBOOK), got an A on powerpoint presentation(40% of grade), 92 on both midterm and final, always participated. I busted my butt and got a C?! She doesn't talk about anything relevant in class, the Ebook is crap, she's rude and condescending
She was the worst I had! I love Business and wanted a stronger research base for when I transfer. She is useless! Refused to teach the class. If you asked questions she told you to go to the tutor... I am an honors student and I couldn't have maintained my GPA with her... She needs to retire or just stop pretending she is still a Prof.!

Not a very helpful teacher. She sees her students struggling and she doesn't show interest in giving students the necessary components to encourage them to work hard to get to the next level. Her personality is belittling to other students and rude. She needs to reevaluate her teaching methods and attitudes towards others. Would never recommend her
I would not recomend this teacher to anyone. If you love business and she will make you absolutely hate it. If you are the opposite way well she'll make you hate everything. I've never felt so belittled in a class before. It was my understanding that a teacher is there to help in whatever way they can and I received nothing but subtle insults.

Hands down the WORST professor i have ever had!!! She is the least unhelpful teacher EVER when it comes to helping you with papers as she hands it back and doesn't touch it if she sees something wrong with it. She also berates her students in front of the class like no other.

Class is easy enough to pass, but after a while of putting up with her condescending attitude and vague assignments, I don't see how anyone would be inclined to bother. She lectures in a meandering style and doesn't hesitate to chastise those who can't or won't follow her train of thought. Also, she brings her personal politics to class too often.
Just do your homework and participate in class now and then. Exams(1 midterm and 1 final) are super easy! She might seem mean but don't take it personally, that's just the way this woman is. Also, make sure you understand the APA style, because that's like super important to her.
Awful. This class is hell. She laughs at the students who aren't as wealthy as her. She nags all class long and thinks she's Gods gift to mankind. Does not teach but expects you to know everything. Also the book is expensive.
She is an OK professor. She can be mean at times and gives tons of homework. We had 2 PP presentations, a weekly homework and chapter quizzes - no midterm or final. As long as you do what she says (even though her directions are very confusing at times), and read the textbook, you should do fine.

Do not take one of her classes. I was in her online class but quickly realized she is rude, high-strung, unhelpful and condescending. I am A student and somehow my work wasn't up to her standards, she gave me F's and C's, despite doing everything she had asked. Unacceptable... Worst Professor Ever.

If you're serious about your future,you should seriously take her class.She's not rude or mean. Works that she gives out are not that much because she gives 10000% support. Do a big favor to yourself, do not take a class with this professor. You will have to do TONS of work every week and the professor is really mean and not helpful.
I just started her online class today and I'm already beyond stressed. Two research assignments a week? As if I don't have five other classes and a job. Her workload is already too much and her guidelines seem insane!
First off, this professor required a book that I could only get from the school bookstore at the new price. I usually get my books cheaper. If you have other classes or a life her assignments are WAY too much. She is not clear in instruction and scrutinizes your writing to the 10th power. She rude and unreasonable.

Very hard and demanding, expects you to apply yourself. If you listen, attend class and do the assignments you should be ok. Her approach was very tough, but I did learn from her class, which is the point of attending college.
You will learn a lot in her class about business management. She will show you once but then its up to you. You must be untime with all assignments HW and presentation. She answer question and emails. She's not patient or put up with any nonsense. Must know APA format. You can get A if you work hard & participate in class discussions. Good luck!
RUDE.Asking a professor questions shouldnt be uncomfortable.She doesn't explain what needs improvement when grading, spends class talking about her trips to china & previous "high position" jobs.just doesn't work with you.I literally cried after spending days working on an outline for her to take 20 seconds to write a hug x on it. No explanations.
I am a business major who has taken business classes before, and I must say that Dr. Garely is the best bus professor I have had so far. She may be blunt, but she is very knowledgeable, up to date with current events everywhere, and resourceful. She is opinionated, but if you give her facts she will accept it humbly. Learning from her is an honor.
Dr. Garely's approach seems strong and a bit harsh but that's because she wants to teach students who are willing to learn and participate in the course. Her lectures can be long and boring so anyone who's a slacker and falls asleep in class, this isn't the course for you. APA format is a must. Personally, I think she's a good professor.
Garely is a more on the rough end. Her teaching method is one that may not work well with most students at BMCC. Only because most students here aren't really interested in challenge. Most students are intimidated by her aggressive approach towards teaching. I personally love it, she allows no room for play and strictly gets her lesson done!
