You'd have to seriously know nothing about psychology to be overwhelmed with the material, he puts things in a very understandable format for everyone which is more important than being a tough prof. He looks scary but he is a sweetheart. He is very easy going and teaches without surprises. His exam is straight text book. He gives you test notes prior to the exam (no surprises). His grading system is straight, no curves. You will love his class!

Professor Vasquez is probably one of the most awesome professors I will ever meet in my life time. He helped me really understand myself in his courses and has inspired me to major in Psychology. Never have I seen him turn down a student. Makes you feel confident and pushes you to do great! Definitely taking another one of his courses in the future

I cant say enough good things about this professor!! HE is the best and the easiest Psych teach anyone can get. He is really clear about the subject and follows the syllabus.. 3 test and a final. two small assignments..Test were easy as long as you study. even 1/2 hours is enough! I took Abnormal Psych with professor Vasquez and he's an absolute delight to have as a professor. He's humorous, smart, and very helpful. He's very approachable and he genuinely wants you to excel in everything you do. I always have discussions with him and he helps you even beyond the class. I really, really recommend him! Professor Vasquez is by far one of my favorite professors at LACC. He gives extra credit that lifts your C to a B and he makes lectures fun! You learn a lot. All his tests are based on lecturesbook. I didn't read my book & always got good grades just for paying attention in class and taking notes here and there. He's awesome if you can, take him!

Very great professor!! He gives a study guide before students take the test. Each tests are based on the study guide. It is very easy to study. He also gives one handout(homework) and one research paper(2-3pages) which need to do to pass class.

Just use the study guide, and the book and you're good to go. He's really cool!

Professor Vasquez takes great interest and offered to help me after I transfer with letters of recommendation or in whatever ways I might need. He would give a study guide for tests to show areas of importance. Also extra credit & grades on curve. His entire objective is the student to succeed.

He really cares for his students and is there for them no matter what. (Yes he does letters of recommendation) He's also super funny which keeps the class interesting and not boring whatsoever. The best professor Ive had at Calstate LA. Funny, clever, engaging and excellent when explaining concepts. I wish the counseling major could have more substance abuse classes with him as a teacher. The book he uses is excellent too, totally worth the price.

Elio was a great teacher. He was very inspirational and knowledgeable about how to transfer and telling you you can do anything. I highly recommend taking counseling 40 especially with Elio. I think I came out of this class a better person. Easy tests, goes over everything you need to know and allows notes/laptops on tests.

I took psychology during the summer , because someone told me about his class at Cal State Los Angeles. He gives out study guides, there's only four tests plus a paper due at the end of the course (two pages long). He really cares about the students learning and understanding the material, I would say if you can definitely take his class !

This professor was responsible for the best class I've had all summer. I love his attitude and his sense of humor. He's easy to approach and had such supportive feedback it made me a lil teary eyed when the class ended... I think I like him more than most of my family. :S Take his class!

Professor Vasquez is one of a kind Professor. I've took him for Psych 1 and Psych 44. Both classes were amazing. He isn't a tough grader as long as you show up to class and he sees that your making a big effort to learn the course materials.

Prof. Vasquez is a great prof to take for any Psych class. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the class met online via zoom. Reaction Papers were like exams. His lectures were very clear and made the class interesting. I recommend him.

Professor Vasquez is an amazing instructor. Some topics may be a bit boring but participation can make it intresting. He likes feedback and students asking questions. He changed tests to papers since COVID happened but they are not difficult.

Mr. Vasquez was lecture heavy but if you attend and class participates he gives everyone LOTS of extra credit. I bought the book but he tells you where to find it for free and you dont need it if you listen to lectures. The assignments are easy and based on pages in canvas.

This was my 5th and final class with Professor Vasquez. He is an inspiration to every student that is lucky enough to have him as an educator. Elio changed my life, and I will inspire to be half the educated, caring, fair, and respected person in my field that he is in his. I hope he becomes a life-long friend and mentor.

Exceptional professor. He is an amazing educator and his lectures are so fascinating that I wish I could take his class again. As long as you use the scientific method and give full effort into your essays and assignments, you will get good grades. It is not a hard class as long as you do the work and have interest in the topics.

Amazing professor. It was a group dynamic class he did not give assignments or quizzes for this particular class but it was a must participate in the zoom class and give your input. He is very understanding and does not pressure you to share anything you do not feel comfortable sharing.

Prof. Vasquez gives the WHOLE CLASS extra credit for participating, so that's great. The class was very easy, all the resources available on canvas. 4 tests (discussion post essays) that are not too hard and 2 papers. He is always open for office hours and engages in meaningful conversations. Awesome guy.

I took Counsel 040 with him in the fall 2020. I love that class because you can do the assignments at your own pace. I did all of them in the beginning of the semester because I was taking two other classes that was heavy and I needed time for those classes and i am glad I did. He is fast to answer your questions. This class is so easy.

Great class overall, I recommend to create some sort of discussion during class even if you understand the topic as to get extra credit, I noticed the professor as well brings in his past to create a discussion and to further connect the lecture and bring us to an understanding which is helpful.
