I hate English but I liked this class. I took Elisa for technical writting and I really enjoyed her class. She understands that students who take ENGL 2100 are usually engineer or in science majors and are NOT ENGLISH MAJORS, and she tailors the class for us. She showed me how english relates to my field! She is a powerful and dedicated teacher.

Great instructor! This was an internet class. Prof. Stone scheduled online meeting times, which most professors don't do. She responded to all of my questions promtly and critiqued each assignment, which was very helpful!

Professor Stone is a outstanding teacher. Her concern and follow through for the students was like nothing I have experienced before. If you are thinking of a class taught by her, take my advice and do. You will not regret it!

Great Professor

Outstanding Professor! She was understanding when anybody had any isues and she was even willing to stay a few minutes late to help with any questions that couldn't get answered during class. Everyone should strive to have her as your educator, you will not be sorry.

I took this class online and was kinda worried. it ended up being better than any english class I have ever taken. If you can, take any english class from her she is extreamly helpful and understanding. she makes every assignment useful in the real world. you do need to do all of your work, its not hard though. on average 1 hour per week.

Elisa was one of the best teachers I have had at this institution. Make that the best. Very helpful, friendly, and willing to take late work. There are assignments due every class, and 3 decent sized projects, but no tests or finals! I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn more about communicating effectively through writing.

Again, Elisa is an excellent teacher. This is my 2nd course with her. It was online, but aside from my dislike of online courses, she is amazing. Highly recommended. Wouldn't want to take English from anyone else!

I found her online Intro to Folklore class to be awesome. I only took it because it was one of the few classes left after I had to rearrange my schedule due to work. I ended up loving this class. Folklore is a lot more interesting than I thought. Teacher was very helpful and very clear. Great class!

Elisa was the leader for the England Study Abroad and she was AMAZING! We had an eclectic group of students who didn't always get along- Elisa was the PERFECT leader for us! She was compassionate and EXTREMELY conscious of what each of us needed. The classes ahead of time made the experience meaningful. I would go anywhere in the world with her!

Having her be our advisor in London was great. She was so much fun and always helpful. She always was in our best interest. She wanted us to have a lot of fun and to be able to see everything we could while we were there. She always made sure everyone was safe and well taken care of. I would definitely recommend her for another study abroad.

This was one of the best online courses I have taken at SLCC and I have taken almost every one. I had no interest in the class initially but from the get go enjoyed it. The topics are interesting, she gets back to you on emails (amazing!!!).

Took this class online. Weekly discussions, reading and quizzes. A couple papers needed to be written. Teacher is super nice and responds in a timely manner. If you do the work you will receive an A.

I liked this class and learned skills that I will use in the future. I wasn't sure what to expect from a technical writing class but it was challenging and Professor Stone was fair and responded quickly to questions. Plenty of writing obviously in this course. Weekly writing discussions and 3 projects with no final (for the summer at least)

Professor Stone is such an amazing teacher. It's difficult to not get 100% on assignments. Every week, there's two discussion assignments, and an easy quiz. There were only 7 quizzes, and two papers to write. I missed a quiz onne, and she re-opened it for me without hesitation. If you show dedication, you'll have a great experience! Def take her!

This class was very fun, I recommend taking it if you want a lower-stress class. That is not to say it is easy but it is definitely enjoyable. Be prepared to write and also communicate with classmates in online discussions.

Elisa's Queer studies class was amazing. She did a great job for her first time teaching the class. She is such an awesome person,you can't leave her class not feeling like she is a friend to you. Although there is a lot of homework, she is very flexible and accommodating. This is a great diversities class and it changed me. Also, Elisa is a babe.

Class was well-organized. More like a high school English class than a college one. Takes FOREVER to grade anything so don't expect to know how you did for a long time. Lenient grader, but will mark you down for very inane stuff at complete random.

I felt pretty disengaged in every class except Elisa Stone's "Intro to Queer Studies!" Stone is a compassionate professor that uses multi learning types, community service learning, and honest and challenging discussion to introduce students to the broad and diverse topic. She is helpful and truly inspirational. This class will change your life.

I really enjoyed taking this class. Fun way to get a credit. It wasn't super easy, but definitely lacked a lot of the stress other classes have. Choosing interesting topics to -me- to write about was a lot of fun.

Enjoyed the class very much. The class consists of a weekly quiz and discussion which was due on Sunday. Two major writing assignments with a service learning option. She grades quickly and gives great feedback. Extra credit in the discussions for commenting on other's posts.

Good teacher. She is responsive to questions and the assignments are straight forward. Book is listed but I never used it. She has too many peer reviews though. I would rather get the feedback form the instructor as far as how I did on an assignment and what to change.

Great Teacher. Many discussions and papers. But it is simple. One thing though, she grades differently by using a point system. Your canvas could say you have a A - in the class but you actually have a C+

Elisa Stone is an excellent instructor. She is nice and easy-going. The class assignments and projects are enjoyable. She gives you three options to select from for each major project (3 major projects). She doesn't give much constructive criticism, but that's what the peer reviews are for. She made this online class easy and simple.

This course was great, Elisa was very organized. She provided clear expectations of projects and assignments, she offered opportunities for extra credit and chances to resubmit 2 out of 3 projects for higher grades. Excellent teacher, she tries to connect with students. Content of the course was easy to follow and useful for everyday life.

It is an english class so you have two like tiny things you have to do each week and then 3 projects throughout the semester. Very easy english class and she grades very nice. I would take this class from her again!!!!

She's a great teacher who turns really depressing material into something uplifting. She's very insightful, and doesn't have a final exam. Everything's very conversationally taught but she isn't aggressive if you're shy and don't want to talk often.

Elisa is awesome. Her online class is super easy. You have three big projects. It is basically three assignments that you do three times. Offers a lot of extra credit. Emails back fairly quickly. Great Professor.

When I elected to undergo an online English 2100 course I was expecting a systematic and very un-engaging semester of busy work. Nothing could be further from the truth. Prof. Stone provides opportunity for real world application of your assignments in a very refreshing manner. Favorite class I've taken online.

I took her online folklore class, and it was awesome. The work is interesting but not super demanding, and Professor Stone has been very kind in her feedback. I would definitely take another class from her!

Elisa is now one of my favorite teachers at SLCC. She is an easy grader and as long as you put in some effort, you will get a good grade. Class consists of reading from the textbook, quizzes, discussions, and two papers (one you can sub for a service learning project). The material was interesting and well organized. TAKE THIS CLASS!

Elisa's teaching is life changing. I know she has nonstop 5/5 reviews, but she deserves as many as possible. Projects require effort, but not hard at all. I learned so much from this course that will stick with me for the rest of my life. She is an extremely lenient grader and has the kindest heart. She is probably the greatest professor I've had.

I took the online 2100 technical writing. The textbook was free and online, Elisa really cares about here students. She was a fair grader and you get what you put into it. There were usually 2 assignments a week. It took her about a week to grade assignments. She gave great feedback and made it clear what I needed to do to improve. She's great.

I'm horrible at English and was nervous it online but this was the best English class I have ever taken! Assignments every week, but they all add to up to the projects (3 projects total). Assignments are also things you will use in real life situations (resume, memos, etc). Gives opportunities to make up points and extra credit. Highly recommend!

Professor Stone is responsive to student concerns. The class consists of 3 major projects and weekly reading/writing. There are no tests. She is really flexible, allowing you to customize your own "DIY" Assignments once per project. She allows but doesn't force collaboration with other students. Peer evaluations are due 3 times during the semester.

Intro to Folklore was one of the best classes I have ever taken. Elisa Stone is a great professor. While this class is online she communicated regularly with her students. English is one of my worst subjects and she was a fair grader and offered great tips. She was generous by splitting up long read assignments over two weeks. 100% would recommend!

This prof is wonderful. Extremely kind and obviously cares about her classes. There are two papers, some quizzes, and two discussions/week. You need an etext book but it's cheap. Gives extra credit for replying to other students discussion posts. There's no reason to not get an A in this class.

Oh man, I wish I could write forever about Elisa. I took Queer Studies and I suggest everyone to take this course. Especially non-queer folks. She is the most inspirational and powerful woman I have ever met. She provides a safe space in her classroom that quickly becomes a big family. Read your textbook and do your assignments and it is an easy A.

I took Queer Studies with Elisa and she is an amazing professor. She actually cares about her students rather than there to grade their intelligence. She gives personalized feedback and always makes you feel valued, no matter who you are. The class may not be that challenging, but the environment and care put into everything make it worth it.

Elisa was a great instructor for an online class. That is to say, I did not interact directly with her much. I feel like she graded me fairly. If you do what she asks and turn it in on time, you'll get the grade you deserve for it. From her posts I can tell she is a true academic and really cares about her work and her students success.

Seriously THE nicest teacher ever. Even though this is an online course, I felt like Elisa truly cared about me. She'd always comment on my discussions, and was really friendly and nice. Usually just 1 maybe 2 discussions per week, and a quiz. Super easy class, and awesome for your humanities credit. I really want to take another class from her!!

Professor Stone is brilliant. She connects really well with students and her work shows she is a professional. Very interesting topics. Very willing to work with your hectic schedule when you communicate in advance. Appreciates every level of writer. Best professor to date.

If I could take all of my classes from Elisa, I definitely would. Her Intro to Queer Studies class was amazing. We had interesting discussions every time we met and she offered extra credit. An amazing individual who inspires you to be considerate and respectful. This class barely touches the surface of queer studies. You learn much needed information and history as it relates to queers in our society. She goes above and beyond what is required as a professor. She is a mentor, advocate, ally, good friend, and very open teacher.

This was by far the best General Ed course I have ever taken. Professor Stone was such a wonderful instructor. The assignments were easy to understand and as long as you put in some effort, you're likely to do very well- and learn a ton of real world knowledge. Professor Stone is such a wonderful professor. You can tell that she truly cares about each student and wants you to succeed. Homework consisted of summarizing the assigned reading from the textbook, an online discussion, and sometimes a response to a film each week. There were also 2 essays for the midterm and final.

SHE IS A FANTASTIC PROFESSOR!I learned so much from her! The content in this course are things you would or could use in real life! She is very positive and caring about her students. If you keep up on your work you will succeed in her class. I would HIGHLY recommend professor Stone all day any day!

Professor Stone has a great online class structure. She is very clear with her expectations for each assignment and project. She provides a lot of examples and if you do the work that is asked of you, you can expect to pass. It can be self paced and you can work ahead if you wish, but overall a great structure and easy to follow.

Reading is necessary in this course, but the assignments are very clear. Since this is a technical writing class, we learned how to write resumes, business proposals, etc. There are a lot of projects throughout the semester so keep up on the assignments.

Elisa remains my very favorite professor, she is very smart, engaging, friendly, and warm. She intentionally creates a classroom atmosphere that makes everyone feel safe, valued, and that their thoughts and perspectives matter equally. I highly recommend taking any of her classes and getting to know her better as a person. Her class was my favorite

Fantastic professor! I took her tech writing course online & it was organized & easy to navigate. She helps you to feel seen/engaged even online, and gives great, positive feedback. Readings were quick. There are opportunities to earn points back on projects. She leaves assignments pretty open-ended and gives you autonomy. Best class I have taken.

This class was pretty easy in the sense that Professor Stone was an easy grader. She always left thoughtful comments on assignments and made you feel seen. In the reading and assignments you will learn about the negative light surrounding the LGBTQ+ community, so be prepared for some triggering topics.

Elisa is an incredible professor! I had some health issues this semester and she was so willing to work with me. She is very passionate about what she teaches and I loved learning from her. Definitely recommend!!

Elisa was super caring and personable. I took her over the summer and her workload was very reasonable. We had 3 projects and each one had complete creative freedom. Her assignments were super engaging and I enjoyed working on them. Learning about technical writing was super beneficial and I'm pleased I chose this over ENGL 1020. I would recommend!

Awesome, caring, understanding professor! If taking the shortened summer online LGBT course, be ready to read and stay on top of assignments. Allows late work, but you are docked points...understandably.

I wish I could retake her Queer Studies class again! She is caring and supportive of her students. She does dock points for late work but if I had to guess she only docks about 0.5-1.0 points per week late. I loved the unique ways she set up class, there was a lot of reading but it's honestly understandable because most online classes do too.

Great class to fulfill an English credit! You learn how to write things you would actually use at a job, rather than a bunch of essays. Professor Stone is also so nice and really cares about her students. The assignments don't take that long. There are three projects but the weekly assignments add up to create the projects so they aren't bad.

Professor Stone is incredibly knowledgable and wants the best for her students. She is involved in a lot of the schools activities and even offered to help with networking in our class. Our class was fairly easy, but she offered great opportunities and created a safe environment for her students. Take any class form her!

I got hit with major surgery news right b4 a big project was due and got really behind. She was well with in her right to fail me on it and didnt. Provides great feedback. Quick at emailing you back. Helps you in anyway she can. She's about progress and effort versus being a great writer.

Elisa Stone is a fantastic professor. She is good at lecturing in a way that keeps people engaged. But, it's the way she conducts class that is truly meaningful. I don't know how quite to describe it, but Professor Stone cultivates an incredible culture in the class. It is like a home and everyone feels like they belong. This class meant so much.

Great teacher. I had such a good experience with her I took her for next term again. She gives out weekly assignments, but not enough to overwhelm you or be too easy. She also genuinely cares about your assignments. I always received feedback from her, for every single one with helpful tips or just to let me know that I did good on an assignment.

Second time taking Elisa, second time I get an A. It was a good class, Lots of reading from the text book and you have to write a midterm paper and a final paper. Being an 8 week class, we had something due pretty much every day, but its a lot of discussions and easy reading. Would recommend for an easy A.

Each assignment is clear/easy to understand. Summer course was very quick, but the assignments didn't take long. Some required research, but overall, all assignments were applicable in the daily life of anyone who writes texts, memos, proposals, emails, etc. Stone provides feedback on each assignment. Would highly recommend! LOVED this class!

Professor Stone was absolutely amazing! The assignments are easy and spread out a decent amount so it's not overbearing, if you email her she gets back pretty quickly, and she gives great feedback! You need the textbook absolutely though, you will read the ENTIRE thing so if you don't want to read then be prepared for this class.

10/10 Professor Stone cares about her students. She's easy to reach outside of class, and if you're struggling in any way, she's very caring and accommodating. There's a lot of writing in this course, but the assignments are straightforward and she gives you a lot of creative freedom. Professor Stone also gives great feedback on assignments.
