Lisa is helpful and friendly. Her lab practicals are somewhat difficult. Make sure you study your lab book everyday!
labs are real easy but u cant make them up if your absent.
Lisa is awsome!! she is very helpful and very clear.
Lisa is the best lab instructor ever!!! She walks you through every single assigment, she is extremely patient and kind wish more instructors shared similar qulities!!!
She is nice and helpful. Also her test are straight forward. However, there is a lot of material for you to learn. I took the class for fun but I feel bad for non bio majors.
Definitely one of the hardest classes I have ever taken but i admit that its partly my fault because i know i shouldve studied more. It is a challenging class because there is a lot of material to learn but her test is straightforward and she is very fair.
Lisa is a great professor!!! She's the best Bio teacher by far. Her tests are very straight forward. Attendance is mandatory! One of the hardest classes I've taken. I did somewhat study and got a B. If you put a lot of effort into this class you could get an A.
This professor knows her science but she isnt a dedicated or interested instructor. She often came unprepared to lectures, would end class ridiculously early, and cancelled class a few times. A typical lecture consisted of her rapidly reading her powerpoint slides (sometimes without a pause). Class average for every exam was about a 65%. Good luck
She is one of the best bio professors in the department. This is a hard class and requires lots of studying. She is helpful and does read slides very fast so you need to print the slides out. If you are going to take this class take it with her and going to class is a must!
Best teacher for microbio! Don't take Paul Orwin! Take this teacher! Powerpoint slide follows the textbk, which is great! Also, she's VERY approachable and nice! She even elaborates so ask away! WILL require studying, but worth it! Make sure you study slides for lab, know life cycles of organisms, & your stains!!!
I loved Professor Anderson! She wasn't boring in her lectures and tells you what is important and not important for the tests. Her tests are also very straight forward and not very difficult. Just study her power points and pay attention and you will do fine. She's also really nice, and you don't need the book. The final was online.
If you want to learn about micro don't take her. Her class is book based. Nothing of the course is personalized by her it's all generated. She reads off the slides ppl fall asleep. The class is easy dont need the book. I got an A.
LOVED HER AND THE CLASS!!! Although the class was hard she made it as fun, interesting and simple as she could. This class is ALOT of info and you CAN NOT cram the night before. SHe gave us one online exam which helped. What ever chps she doesn't get through in lecture are not on the test. She does give extra credit if the class begs! STudy, study!
Professor Anderson is amazing! I loved this class. She makes everything super clear and tells you what will be on her exams. Homework is basically free points so do it! I didn't get the book, just study the slides and take notes in class and you will do fine! Make sure to go every day, she will give EC points if there aren't many people in class.
Your grade was based on tests. There was no homework. Going to lecture is important! Getting an A is possible, but you have to study. Do not underestimate the class. Lisa is helpful for the most part
Had her for BIO 220 lab and I can honestly say she's one of the best instructor for that class. Do the study guide and study the pre-lab worksheets and you're bound to get an A.
I didn't like her class. There was a total of 4 exams & she never gave us a study guide, so I never knew what to study. She just reads off the powerpoint slides the entire class. I read all the chapters & the notes for the first exam & I ended up getting a C on the test ! I suggest to print out the slides & write notes on the side. Extra Credit !!
She just reads off the powerpoint. 4 midterms, offers a lot of EASY extra credit. Memorize the powerpoints and you'll do fine. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS WITH BIO223&224!! the only reason i got a B+ was b/c I focused on A&P more. Take Supplemental Instruction if available with this course! Boring professor, but she gets the message across.
I had this professor for bio220 lab and ... she was something else. I learned the material but she was very strict and would get upset with her students if they didnt know the answer to the questions that she asked. theres homework assignments due at the beginning of every lab and there are 2 tests!
i don't like her class, period. she gets upset very easily and it's the reason i didn't wanna approach her to ask anything. her lecture doesn't provide sufficient concept pertaining to the course but consisted of procedures basically. laboratory manual is the best material to study for both midterm and final.
Lisa is pretty great! Her lectures are super straightforward. She will never try to trick you or make things more complicated than they need to be. Puts all the powerpoint lectures on blackboard and her tests are powerpoint based. I recommend printing out the slides before class and writing notes in the margins during lecture.
I loved her class. I hated biology in high school but she made it easy to learn. We had 3 exams and a final that was not cumulative. We had quizzes after lecture so attendance was needed in order to get those quiz points. Her PowerPoints are online, so print them or type them ahead of time! Exams are all lecture and PowerPoint based !
The professor was great, she didn't try to trick you and everything is pretty easy as long as you look over your notes. Note that Biology isn't an easy subject so you have to study, but overall it was an easy class to pass as long as you put in the work
the class is straightforward, everything you will need is in the powerpoint and I would suggest studying off of those. she offers extra credit with the quizzes, after a certain amount of points is reached whatever extra points you acquire from the quizzes counts as extra credit. overall she was good.
This class was very very hard. She was very helpful when you went and asked her. Gave pop quizzes make sure you go to class. You really need to put time in to study or you will not pass. Only take if you're ready to take a challenge.
This class is not very difficult if you actually attend lectures. She gives pop quizzes after lectures which will sometimes show up in exams. I had her for an 8AM class and was full of energy. No homework. Would take again not boring at all.
Class is straight forward. 4 exams. Gives tons of extra credit. She randomly gives quizzes in class when people stop showing up. Lab is easy. You watch a couple of videos and make sure you pay attention because she does put questions about these videos on exam.
You have to basically teach yourself if youre taking this class. She doesnt give a study guide and each exam consists of three to four chapters which is around 45 slides and 10 pages of reading per chapter. She does give extra credit so do it cause youll need it. Youll need a clicker she gives random quizzes. You need to work hard, avoid her
Professor Anderson is exactly what you want in a professor; engaging, approachable, willing to answer questions, and on top of that gives great and fun lectures.
She pretty much uploads all of her lectures on blackboard, allowing you to teach yourself and not go to lectures if desired. Exams are okay if you actually know the concepts and study STUDY a lot.
Shes super straight forward! Only 3 exams and she drops your lowest score. Her teaching skills are great so attend every class session!
Professor Anderson is very knowledgable in Biology and taught this course very well! Lectures are full of very important information, so don't miss. Loved this course!
Prof Anderson was extemely funny. She made me want to major in bio cus she made the class so interesting and fun by relating the lecture back to relatable decisions we make when it comes to our health. Shes strict when it comes to talking while shes lecturing so just text if you have to just dont be loud. She also showed us cool movies and videos
Very kind. Her lectures are more than writing what is on the projector, she talks to us, not just reads off it, and is interactive. Homework can be a bit time consuming but overall easy to get 100% on. She is very considerate. I would take again but I don't like biology lol sO
Anderson is gr8!! I'd sign up for another class with her if I had to. She is very clear and straight to the point, so don't ask her to repeat certain things. Lectures are done thru power points, but she makes them very interactive (so you like, you know, actually learn). Tests are fairly easy, just study. Make quizlets, I did, and I passed.
I had Professor Anderson for fall quarter 2018 and in my opinion, was a great professor. Her powerpoints were simple to understand, and she posts them way ahead of time so it was easy for me to take notes before then just sit back and listen when class arrived. There are three exams but she drops your lowest score which the exams are pretty easy.
Professor Anderson has the ability to explain topics in her courses in
She's a really great professor and I highly recommend her for BIO100! Attendance is mandatory is require only when theres an iclicker quiz. you can also attend another section of her class if you miss your assigned time. Very clear lecture and easy to understand, her powerpoints are posted on blackboard.
professor Anderson is amazing! I am not a Bio major but she made bio enjoyable. She has pop- quizzes ( iclicker) online homework due the night before an exam , easy journals ( reflections), and she drops your lowest exam score. Professor Anderson is sweet but her major pet-peeve is talking during lecture so don't get caught!
Prof. Elizabeth is nice professor, make sure you go to the class, do the online home work, make sure use powerpoint slides she provides on blackboard, this will be really helpful for exam. 3 Exams drops the lowest score, do well on Exam 1 and Exam 2 because they are easier compare to Exam 3.
I would defiantly recommend taking her class she is funny and makes the lectures easy to understand. Attendance is mandatory because she gives random quizzes throughout the quarter which count as attendance. If you do all the homework and get a good grade on it you can pass the class with an A since homework is a big part of your grade.
Literally never went to class only like 6-7 times out of the whole quarter and I passed. As long as you do the homework good and read the slides she posts youre good no need to stress. Shes very understanding and funny, highly recommend.
Shes great !! Even if youre not good at the subject. Her lectures are actually interesting, shes super clear about the grading . Three exams , she drops the lowest score. Just do the homework ,make sure u go to lab, study for test and you will pass. . Prob the best prof u can take for this subject
Make sure you do launch pad! Overall this course isnt too much to handle.
Amazing class definitely would recommend her
Anderson is an okay professor (lecturer), she has very straight forward powerpoints followed by youtube videos. Important to show up as there are pop quizzes with clickers. Her class is heavy on launchpad, DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. All points are if not all, majority relying on launchpad. She gives you several chances to pass tests.
Great professor. I wouldve failed if I took a different Professor. 3 exams and she drops the lowest one (one is online too). Uses launchpad and iclicker. Do the homework, read it fr dont skim through, and show up to class and youll pass.
She was pretty funny and her lectures were pretty good. She drops your worst test grade out of 3 which was awesome. DO THE LAUNCHPAD AND PASS. Very easy class if you put in a little effort you'll get a good grade. She's not very accessible outside of the classroom, but still a good teacher.
Professor Anderson is very straightforward and chill, considering she has more than 100 students per class. She lets you all know about what homeworks are supposed to be done and just pay attention pretty much and it's an easy A for you. Just don't act foolishly in her class and be disruptive and she won't hesitate to kick you out.
Professor Anderson is very skilled in teaching biology. The learn smart modules are not complicated they just take a while to complete. She does offer three test Dropping the lowest score and does in class quizzes so make sure to attend as many lectures as possible. Lectures are easy to understand and class is not hard as long as you pay attention.
The class consists of 2 in class exams which you do twice one by yourself and the other with a group which makes it easier, and an online final but she drops your lowest grade from the 3. The hw is online as well but don't leave into the last minute because it is a lot to go over. She also does random quizzes+ discussion post of whats was learned
Awful teacher. If she wasnt the only bio teacher I wouldnt have taken her. She showed so much anger over small things. She blames students for not understanding and takes no responsibility on her own learning. I couldnt believe the way she treated students. Ill avoid her as much as possible from now on!
There is a lots of homework on launchpad, and beware of pop i clicker quizzes and also make sure you study for the exams, and the final is online. and she will drop your lowest exam score.
shes really bad, and gets mad at small things and goes off topic .
She is strict with what she expects from you as a student. Launchpad is needed for homework & 3 exams drop your lowest score.
This class wasnt bad at all. Just study for the exams and youll pass. Make sure you do launchpad homework and theres pop quizzes. Super easy as long as you try. Three exams, lowest one is dropped. I did good on the first two so I decided not to take the final. As long as you pay attention in lecture and take notes you should be good. Dont talk
Prof Anderson is an embarrassment to CSUSB. Every time I would show up to class to learn she was always unprofessional/unorganized. Some days she would get off track and other days we would spend some time trying to connect her tablet to the projector. She needs to change her method of teaching. we spend hours on dumb hw that doesnt even benefit
Worst class & prof Ive taken here at CSUSB. I HATED and DREADED going to this class. I learned nothing from her lectures, I learned more from my lab professor. She is super unorganized and would get mad for lots of things. If you could avoid taking her please do! I would rather re-take all my previous classes a second time than to take her again!!
Professor Anderson exhibits a passion for the innovation that lies within the frontiers of biology. She expects her students to exhibit an ethical, respectful behavior, as she wants to ensure that every student is given the opportunity to grasp upon a knowledge that will prepare them become productive members of society. She is truly the best.
She is a good professor in my opinion her tests are individual and as a group. The homework is online but the tests are based on lectures. Attendance isnt mandatory but you should go if you want to pass the class.
Prof Anderson is a caring person who knows a lot about biology. this class was made up of launchpad homework, discussions, and tests. If you just do the homework and study for the exams you should be ok. (3 exams and she drops your lowest score) she is also very nice and accessible outside of class. Bio is my worst subject and i am doing well!
She is so sassy omg her attitude is horrible and her tests are heavy but if you study you'll get a good grade.
She's a really nice professor, you just got to do the hw.
Professor Anderson is the best. She is very understanding. This was her first time teaching semesters and overall the class has been pretty easy. 4 exams, but she drops the lowest. Discussion posts every week-not hard at all ,plus very short weekly quizzes based on the lectures. Take her! She is always so bright and happy!
Very nice professor. Took her for online class because of covid and she had very clear homework assignments due each week, but very easy. 4 exams and she drops the lowest one; also had tons of extra credit opportunities.
Great Professor. Very Caring and thoughtful. Do the work and assignments and you should be good to go. Very Good professor especially for online courses.
She made everyone really enjoy the lectures. She was hilarious and sweet. The work load was very easy and the tests were even easier. You'll definitely learn something and have fun.
Professor Anderson is great! The assignments, quizzes, and tests are very simple and light. Her lectures weren't mandatory, but it's nice showing up because she actually engages with the class. She responds to emails quickly and truly cares for her students because she wants everyone to pass. I wish I could take her class again :)!
Great Professor. Gives extra credit. Very passionate about what she is teaching. Weekly discussions (have to reply to one peers discussion every time) and quizzes, but super easy; able to retake quizzes multiple times. 4 exams (drops the worst score): exam 1, exam 2, exam 3, and final. Lectures are a bit fast, so take notes after class.
Usually, there's a discussion board and quiz posted on Blackboard after zoom meetings (not mandatory but recommended)... gives extra credit opportunities & drops the worst score of 4 exams... overall great professor & easy course
(COVID) Took Prof. Anderson back in Fall 2020 semester. She was very good, I always learned something during lecture and thought the class was very fair. 4 exams total (drops lowest exam, including the final), quiz at the end of every chapter we covered, and discussion board due at the end of every lecture. Take her if you can, very solid class!
When I say I'm horrible at Bio, I mean it. I've never been good at it but she does an amazing job at explaining the topics and she wants students to engage so she knows you understand. I really wish I could take her again for upper-division bio. And if you really study the notes, you'll do great on the tests.
It does not help that I am bad at Bio in the first place. However she was cool, I hated the way she did her notes though, they were convoluted, making it difficult for me to learn. Also went through them so fast there wasn't really time to write them down.
Honestly the absolute worst professor I've ever had to work with. She was a terrible professor and blamed the class for her lack of skills. She has the worst fail rate in the entire CSU system, throughout the semester barely anyone was passing her class. After every exam she would talk down on all the students for the majority of the lecture, AVOID
Bio has never been my subject at all, I'm just not into it but I needed this class of credit. I was amazed of how much I enjoyed this course and professor. I learned so much with her and answered all my concerns.
Don't be fooled at first she was nice but after awhile she started talking down on us. Every time we got a question wrong she was be mad which is understandable but we were trying. It just felt like she was being discouraging towards us with our own work.I felt like she could have approached everyone differently but she made me feel stupid.
She would have moments where she would talk down to the class, usually when the class couldn't understand a concept, but it wasn't as bad as many other reviews make it out to be. She gives decent lectures, is fairly nice, and I didn't find the exams to be that hard. Lots of homework you can easily get behind on. Overall proceed with caution.
Had to buy a bundle of the textbook, homework assignments, and iclicker. Three exams plus the final exam and she drops the lowest score. She offers some extra credit its only worth five points each assignments. The exams were online but i dont know if she will do that for each class. I definitely suggest taking this class.
Professor Anderson is the best!! her lectures and tests are easy, its open book open note, and shes very kind overall. She gives extra credit for attending events and most of the time doesnt have class on certain days. You dont have to purchase a book! If u dont attend class keep a look out for discussion posts they give you points.
Not a big fan of biology but I enjoyed this class. Professor Anderson is very kind and understanding. She drops both your lowest homework assignment and exam (including final)!! Make sure you attend class as she sometimes does kahoots/discussion posts for credit. However, most classes were lecture heavy which is something to consider.
Professor Anderson is the best! Her lectures are pretty easy to understand. I highly recommend to attend lectures since she tends to do graded Kahoots or Discussions near the end of class. She also drops the lowest test and homework scores
I really enjoyed this class only thing is she gets off topic a lot or she doesn't know how to use a website so a lot of lecture is wasted. Homework is due morning of class once a week and she drops the lowest grade for tests.
Disliked persuall. I felt it was unreliable in predicting the grade you would get but it was an easy and interesting tool.
