Fun teacher! A lot of memorization for tests so you have to put some time into studying. 3 tests and 2 papers.
Cool teacher! There is a lot of studying for tests, but she will hold study sessions and help you out if you ask.
Awesome.
An excellent humanities prof! She loves the material and uses Powerpoints that are posted on Blackboard. She makes the topics really interesting. Very friendly, but professional. Enjoyed her class so much I worked my entire schedule around her Humanities II class. Easy "A" if you want it. Just study for the exams and submit the papers.
AMAZING TEACHER!!! really cares about her students grades and she is very interesting....her study guides are extremely long and only 20% of the study guide questions are actually on the test! 2 tests,2 papers, quizzes(easy! its on the map of the world) and a final...pretty easy teacher
Good teacher. You memorize a lot for the test. and she gives it to you 4 days before the test. A little bit difficult but you can pass with a B if you just go to class and pay attention. She gives out pop quizs of the world so there easy. You get 5 points for just being there. 2 essays(which you must do in order to pass), final, and 2 test
Great prof! Entertaning and helpful.
She is an amazing teacher! Easy class if you study over her power points. Class is lots of fun and never boring. She's helpful and funny. Def one of my favorite teachers. Taking her for Hum2! :)
AMAZING! I love going to this class so much. If you want a good Humanities teacher, pick her! She gives study guides for her tests, it?s a lot of information but easy enough. She uses powerpoint and uses her thought for history stories, so notes are good for studying of the tests. Take her if you can!
Ms. Ray is probably the best teacher i've ever had. Shes fun, charismatic and very intelligent. If your not interested in humanities shell show you the way. Her passion for it really encourages all the students to do well and participate. Simply the best professor and cant wait for HUM2 next semester....few quizes, 2 papers, few tests..simple
Ok Class if you like the greek things. you got to come everyday because of pop quiz..would take again if i got to but really a boring class or it could be the teacher.
She is a stickler with tardiness as well as leaving early. The quizzes are noy hard just study your map.Powerpoints are is plus then yoou really won't need your textbook. She like to make you write ALOT!!!Take her at your own risk!!!
Took both HUM 1and2 with Elise Ray, and got A's. Lectures are entertaining and are worth attending b/c the popquizes are 10% of the grade. Do not need the textbook for this class. All test material is covered in lecture, and all powerpoints are available on blackboard. Tests are very easy if you covered the material. Best Professor I've had at TCC!
Thus far, Ms. Raye is probably my favorite teacher of the semester. Her own passion and experience in the field makes the class all the more interesting. Her lessons are clear, quizzes are easy and she's always willing to help you out when you need it or have a question. She's easy to talk to and overall a great professor. Just be on time to class.
Average student. Took her for HUM1&2. Posts powerpoints and study guides. Pop quizzes are easy. Come to class so you dont miss them. Study a little and you'll coast through the class. She's nice and always willing to help out students who try and show up to class. I would recommend her to anybody. Had an 89% and she rounded it up for me. TAKE HER!
I would say that she is no-nonsense but she is really great nonetheless. Come to class! It ain't mandatory but it surely helps a lot. Pop quizzes so be prepared. Don't come to class late, that's a pet-peeve. Other than that, she's really great! Thorough, clear, and just really fun. I highly recommend her.
Take at your own risk, If you like to write papers then she is the teacher for you.Class is boring and she have picks in the class.Pop quizzes are easy, but test are a lot of information really have to study. I wasn't impressed at all.
Best Humanities teacher ever! We hand write 1 page essays, not hard at all. Ms.Ray is such a sweetheart and she's sorta funny.
I really enjoyed her class. She's very friendly, cool and laid back, willing to help you whenever you need it, easy to understand, just a good quality teacher with lots of experience to teach by. If you go to class, come on time. Pop quizzes are not hard, take notes as she lectures (helped me with quizzes and tests), and you'll do great.
best teacher ever! she is very nice and helpful. Her test aren't easy and you do need to study but she gives a study guide for each test and tells you what is expected. She doesn't take attendence but does give pop quizzes based on attendence but we are in college people everything isn't just handed to you.
HUM 2210 Summer 2011 power points to printout; take notes in class; pop quizzes are easy; study all maps; in class assignments; some group work;2 writing assignments which must be submitted on safe assign;1 writing assignment is an art paper; 3 tests with study guides; make sure you know your maps, artwork, architecture, monuments, and who did what
If you got anything lower than a high B then you weren't trying hard enough. She is the easiest teacher you will find! Her exams were easy and try to come to class because she gives pop (easy) quizzes. I would recommend taking her if you never had any prior interest in humanities.. she will change that!
One of my favorite teachers I have ever had.
LOVE HER! All you have to do is show up for class because she does take attendance and she has pop quizzes. I never took notes and paid attention somewhat and passed her class with an A. She puts study guides online and if you study them there is no way you will fail her class. If you do fail you never looked at her study guides! Favorite teacher!
I loved this class, as long as you come to class and just listen you will be fine. She puts up all of the power points and gives very vivid study guides. If you study the study guides before the test you will for sure get an A! We had 3 tests including the final and 3 short (700 word) papers. She will make you love humanities.
Elise is a truly wonderful professor. Engages the entire class as she does her powerpoint presentations, and even remembers every students name. She genuinely cares about her students in and outside of the classroom. All you have to do to get an A is to show up and write notes, and attend regularly otherwise you will get 0's on your pop quizzes. A+
Such a great professor. This subject can be taught very dryly, or it can be a lot of fun. Professor Ray really makes it fun and engaging. Show up everyday because sometimes there are pop quizzes and you might as well get bonus points.
BEYOND AMAZING TEACHER! She lives this stuff, literally, she's an Archaeologist. What better person to learn from than someone who lives and breathes this stuff, and loves it! She is the pop quiz master, but her pop quizzes are stupid easy. Show up, participate (she loves class discussions) and enjoy her. She truly is a magnificent teacher!
The best humanities professor hands down! Her class is super easy, just show up to the lecture and take notes. There were a few writing assignments, a lot of pop quizzes, and no homework. Her tests are pretty straight forward, and are multiple choice and include a map. She loves the subject and makes it really interesting. She doesn't use the book.
I liked this class although sometimes it was down right boring. The test were a difficult, you must study!! She gives you a study guide also.. 7 or 8 pop quizzes. 3 test. and 2 writing assignments that are fairly easy.
I really enjoyed this class with her! She loves what she teaches and is hilarious. She really keeps you interested in the subject and posts all her powerpoints online, so if you don't go to class it's not a big deal. 2 writing assignments, 7-8 easy pop quizzes, and 3 tests in total. Studying is essential, but this class is really an easy A.
Professor Ray is a great teacher and I would definitely recommend her! I learned a lot about the different areas of the world in this class and she tries to make it as entertaining as possible. There were three tests (one counting as a final) and two papers that were mandatory. The tests come straight from the power point that she provides for you.
Ms Ray is very passionate about her subject matter. Provided all PowerPoint presentations. She made the lectures interesting. No study guides and dates/names are important. Attendance may effect your grade-pop quizzes. Would definitely take again.
She loves what she teaches. Lectures last entire class period and she gets off topic at times. She will help if needed but if you come to class then you will learn material. She gives study guides for test in advance but not everything she puts on there is on the test sometimes. You should def pass with an A or B though! Not hard
Professor Ray is one of the best teachers I've taken. She's witty, enjoyable, and leaves you actually wanting to learn more each class. The class itself is fairly easy, with no textbook required, but you get to take away so much from this class you wouldn't learn elsewhere. If I could take it again I would! Don't pass her up.
Easy class, attendance matters due to pop quizzes. All of the material on tests and pop quizzes are covered in class. She gives test reviews before tests. Really easy going woman.
Nice lady but doesn't like when people are late she posts the powerpoints of her lectures online. She lectures the whole period till the last secound of class. Tough grader and gives study guides but not everything on it is on the test. Gives HARD pop quizes. You have to go to class, pay attention and take notes to pass.
She is one of my favorites. She is intelligent, knowledgeable, and kind. Go to class, it is worth it. She does give pop quizzes that are so easy, you just have to pay attention and take notes. Tardiness and leaving early are her pet peeves. She provides study guides and posts her power points for you to study. A+ teacher, TAKE HER!
I took this professor for my last credit for humanities, and based from her rating on this site I chose her and I regretted it the first day of class. She talks the whole class, and its so hard to keep up and write notes. CLASS IS BORING AND GOES BY SO SLOW. Tests are long, and the class is unnecessary. DO NOT TAKE HER
Before taking this class, I didn't know what humanities was. Elise made me love it, and now i'm going to take more humanities classes. She is fair, funny, and she knows her stuff. I had a hard time in the class at first because it's a lot of info, but she will help you if you don't understand or if you just need help studying.
Elise lectures for the entire period, rarely ever do you get out early. She relies on power-point presentations so if that's a weakness of yours don't take her. She gives great study guides for her exams and grades fairly on the writing assignments. She has a great personality and she tries to make the class entertaining.
This course isn't easy but if you put time into it you'll get an easy A. The class is based on lectures from a power-point but they're interesting. She's funny. There's 8 pop quizzes, 2 papers, 3 exams (2 regular and a final). She grades the papers fairly. She cancels class if necessary.
This teacher was great. You can tell she really has a passion for what she teaches and she has actually visited most places she teaches about which is awesome so she can speak from experience. There are pop quizzes but if you actually show up to class you'll pass. Study Guides are very straight forward about whats on the test.
At the beginning of this semester, Humanities was the class I was not looking forward to. That all changed completely after taking Professor Ray. She is an outstanding teacher who really works with her students. Participation is huge because you will retain the info a lot more. There are two tests, two papers, and a final. She will help, though.
Professor Ray makes Humanities a fun class to learn. Pretty much show up and pay attention to her lectures and you will pass the class easily. Pop Quizzes for easy points when she notices not many people are in class. She gives study guides for all tests that are really close to the test. Two response papers that are very easy as well.
Professor Ray is awesome! Shes funny and keeps class interesting. There are 3 test and a final but all of her study guides before the exams are identical to the test. She uploads power points after every class, if you go to class and do the reviews its easy A. She hates it when you leave class easy with out telling her, so dont get on her bad side
I loved Mrs. Ray! She was so sweet and cared about everyone and how we did in class. She dislikes if you show up late/leave early but other than that she is good to get along with. Her tests are easy and she drops the two lowest pop quizzes. I just would not recommend taking her class if you've already taking ARH2050, it repeats itself.
Pretty good teacher. She kept me interested for most of the semester. Her tests are straightforward. Study the study guides and you'll be fine. They're not designed to trick you. She lectures off of powerpoitns only and uses lots of pictures, so pay attention. Gives pop quizzes, but if you go to class, you'll do alright. Had 2 writing assignments.
love her! Shes really sweet and tries to make the class interesting! she cares enough so much that she learns all 50 our names (and thats just one class). she gives pop quizzes that are easy if you pay attention. you wont pass if you dont show up. her tests are easy too if you pay attention and study her guides. 2 papers & 2 exams, + 1 final exam
This is my 2nd class I've taken with Elise. If you want to succeed you need to show up to class. She doesn't give homework outside of class (other than the writing assignments) and she grades fairly. She gives great study guides and she only tests on material she has covered in class. No tricky or confusing questions. I would highly recommend!
Tough grader when it comes to writing papers. Before the paper, I had an A in the class. The tests are EXACTLY the same as the quizes, so that was nice. Absolutely rediculous of how much she expects you to read & watch videos. I copied and pasted one time on word to see the word count of everything to read and it ended up being over 70,000 words
You Will Love Her Class! Shes Hilarious And If You Skip Class You Will Definitely Miss A lot And Miss A Pop Quiz
This is strictly a lecture-based class. The only homework assigned is studying, so that was nice. She loves discussion so participate! Dont be shy! If youre not the type to sit and stare at a powerpoint for the entire class, dont take her. Other than that, I really enjoyed her as a person and the class.
Hands down my favorite professor at TCC. She cares about her students and provides you with the resources to be successful. She makes her lectures interesting, and easy to follow. She is so funny, and the environment of her class is great. Loved her class and would take her again with no hesitation.
I didnt really study so my grade was my fault. She lectured like a story and if her tests were set up like that I think I could have passed this class with flying colors.
I took HUM2020 in person and loved it so much I took HUM2210 online to finish my AA. I absolutely love this teacher. She gives encouraging feedback that boosts morale and her tests are fairly easy as long as you study. Some essays but they are easy and everything is in the notes. Very note heavy though but overall, a fantastic class.
VERY NICE TEACHER, YOU NEED TO ATTEND CLASS IN ORDER TO GET AN A BECAUSE SHE DOES 9 POP QUIZZES AND EACH ONE IS GIVEN BASED ON ATTENDANCE (IF NO ONE IS THERE SHE WILL GIVE A POP QUIZ). THE POP QUIZZES ARE VERY EASY AND RELATED TO THE LECTURE SHE GAVE THAT DAY. STUDY HARD FOR THE TESTS THERE ARE ONLY 3. NO HOMEWORK. NO EXTRA CREDIT.
I took Professor Ray online and liked her class overall! A quiz every week (open-note, 2 attempts), 3 exams. The exams are easy; just study quizzes and do the research for the 3 essay questions she provides. But, there is LOTS OF READING. One week there were 30 articles to read in addition to her powerpoints (try dividing up between days & skim).
I took her online 2230 class, put in very minimal work and got an A. Quizlet is going to be your best friend for quizzes and test. Essay questions make up a large percentage of the test but she gives them to you beforehand so actually do them. I never studied until the day of and got A's on all my tests. Tooooooo easy
I took Prof Rays online Humanities class. I liked it once I got used to it. The reading can be overwhelming but a lot of the links are videos. The quizzes are easy if you take notes because she lets you use your notes on quizzes. She gives you the test essays ahead of time. I used her powerpoints to study for the essays and that helped A LOT.
Great professor! Show up to class everyday, because she does random pop quizzes. Take notes and listen to every thing she says and you'll definitely pass with A! Would definitely take her again!
I strongly recommend you do not take her class. There is an INSANE amount of required reading, the study guides barely correlate with the exams and she is a slow grader (not a huge deal, but still). If you're looking for an easy A or even B, this is not it. I did end up with an A but had to work way harder than necessary for it.
I took her for online most of her quiz are on quizlet thats how i end up passing the course
There is a lot covered in this course. Definitely go to class because there are material covered in class that she talks about that wont be on the slides, but that might be on the test. Take GOOD notes! She does give pop quizzes, but you can use your notes. She is very caring about her students, I would recommend her.
Quizzes are all 35-60 questions, study guides are posted and are extremely lengthy. Tests are straight from quizzes. Teacher incorporates articles within her "powerpoints." Articles are long and most of quiz/test questions come from them and not the fluff she puts in powerpoint (pictures of her visiting the places).
This was a challenging class. It forced me to learn, but it was very informative. You will read a lot! Professor Ray cares about the success of students and is easily accessible if you have questions. The study guides are long, but her powerpoints are well organized, well-written and they match the quizzes.
Elise Ray is amazing! She's easy going and very experienced in humanities! Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory, but by not going to class, you will miss out on specific details she explains that aren't on her canvas power points. Occasional pop quizzes, but don't worry, they're easy! That's another reason to show up to class. JUST PARTICIPATE!!
I am not finished with the course, but so far I have a B in the class. Honestly, if you take this class make sure you have nothing better to do. She gives tons of notes, articles, and videos to review. I understand she's very passionate about the course, but I'm not. Quizzes are usually 50-70 questions long and basically it will stress you out.
! have never written a review on Rate my Professor, but I am leaving this to save some of you who might be thinking of taking her: RUN. The whole semester there were only 14 assignments. She doesn't care that students have a life, or can get sick. you either submit or you don't, and with only 14 grades if you miss one it will ruin your grade.
I took HUM2210 express online & I can honestly say that she was a great professor, only thing I didn't like was the links to videos & pages to study for the tests. Study guides were barely helpful. Just study the quizzes & practice the essays given and you'll pass the tests smoothly. Other than that, pay attention to dates & stay on top of things.
I LOVE HER! I had her for one humanities class and then a year later took another one of her humanities classes. She recognized me, which made me feel really good about choosing her again. I love her attitude and humor. The class is easy as long as you pay attention to the lectures. She's super sweet! Just pay attention in class and you'll pass!!
She is my all-time favorite professor! This was a gen-ed class for me and I just wanted to get it done. However, it quickly became my favorite. I changed my degree because of her class because I discovered what I truly love from it. She is friendly and wants to get to know you. It is lecture heavy but she makes them interesting. PARTICIPATE.
I took HUM over zoom, and for a class that I'm not geared toward, Dr. Ray made this class so interesting and fun! She's very quirky and cute and is super passionate about what she teaches that it can't help but be enjoyable. Her lectures are clear and despite having a lot of notes, if you just put in the effort, it'll show in your grade, too.
Professor Ray is really sweet and clearly super passionate about what she teaches. The one thing I would want to warn students that are looking to take her class is that she gives a LOT of pop quizzes that can only be completed in class. If you miss class, even with an excuse, she will not let you make up the quiz and your grade will drop.
I took her online which is part of. the reason i didn't enjoy the class but, she barely communicates with you through the semester. The power points are very loaded and difficult to get through as thorough as she would like. The test are about 70% like the quizzes but those are difficult as well even with them being open note. This isnt a easygrade
Her tests are not accurate compared to her study guides and she doesnt respond to emails very quickly.
B E W A R E. this was probably the worst class ive ever taken on zoom. she gave so many pop quizzes and if you missed it, forget it! she wont be letting you make it up. she is rude and makes a lot of slick comments. the study guides had absolutely nothing to do with the exams and the powerpoints were literally novels. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Probably worst professor I've had so far the study guide did not match up with the exams and the exams are based of the pop quizzes you take and she doesn't even let you review you quizzes after taking them, would not recommend her at all
She is very easy to communicate with. She responded fast to emails and is willing to help and reached out when necessary. I love that you can work ahead. It is straight forward and easy to navigate thru the course. Take good notes. The quizzes are open notes, so I dont know why people whining. Lol. The study guides are big, but really help!
Do NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ! I repeat do NOT TAKE HER CLASS! She rushes you on all her quizzes and test ! Slow at emailing g back , doesnt give good instructions, anybody else but her would be a better class to take , u regret it !
This class was great. The quizzes are easy if you study her notes, and she lets you take them twice. She also drops the lowest two quizzes which helped me a lot. I like that she lets you work ahead. She answered my emails quick and was really nice! Take her!
I loved Professor Ray, she is so knowledgeable about what she is teaching and makes it interesting. She is so kind and goofy. Her tests are easy if you show up and know the information. Take her!
Good professor overall. She's definitely not going to hand the material over to you for an easy A. Makes you work for it, still passable tho. She has a passion for this stuff because she met her husband in Egypt and lived there for a while.
Ms. Ray is a great professor. I loved this class! It is not an easy A, but a A is doable if you go to class and study.
love her! lots of lecture and she always keeps it interesting!
Not sure why Professor Ray gets bad reviews. Extremely easy online class tbh. Open note exams and quizzes. Everything is laid out for you. Everything is on the let.. iykyk. Not a heavy workload either. Easy A.
Professor Ray is one of the best i at TCC, she is so passionate about the material and its evident in her lessons. If you're taking this class because you're interested in art history, she is a great professor to have. Very easy to reach by email, and lets you know her expectations at the beginning of the semester. Would definitely take again.
Do not take this class, you will regret it. If you are not passionate about the course you will be lost and bored. Mrs.Ray is a super tough grader and her exams do not match the study guides. Beware there is only one assignment the whole year and a bunch of random pop quizzes that you can not make up even with an excuse
Professor Ray is a very knowledgeable teacher who clearly is very passionate about art history. There are pop quizzes but they're easy so long as you've been paying attention in class. There was only one essay for the semester. Just make sure to attend class and pay attention so you'll be prepared on tests. I will be taking her class again.
Professor Ray was wonderful, she is very patient and very well educated all what you Gotta do is pay attention in class and keep up with your studies
Professor Ray was amazing this semester! She was very straight-forward with the curriculum criteria and was always very responsive and helpful if you needed further instruction. There were pop quizzes but they were very practical and simple as long as you pay attention. The tests were also straight-forward and fair.
The professor gives 10 pop quizzes so make sure to attend class 90% of the time. Pop quizzes are relatively easy if you pay attention during lectures. She gives a writing exam (in person) and a theoretical exam (online). Notecards are allowed during the in-person exams and theory exam is open-book; however, beware of the time limit!
Elise is the best professor I've had at TCC. Throughout the semester, there are 10 pop quizzes, one paper, and 3 exams. If you show up to class, you will pass the exams. You can still miss some class, as she drops your two lowest pop quiz grades (they CANNOT be made up). Don't take this course if you aren't interested or don't like going to class.
You will love this online course! Her expectations are very clear and she sets you up for success. She outlines how to work through the material and it is effective for learning. Open book weekly quizzes, 9 short essays, and 3 exams. The quizzes are timed, so you must know most of the material. Elise is an excellent professor to know! Take it!
9/10 class! I think I became intrigued with the fact that she's visited most places she has lectures on. I've learned about music, sculptures , religion all in one, plus I got to learn about architecture which has become a sparked interest due to her class. Btw you don't have to pay for a text book in her class;)
If you're looking for an easy A take this course! I would say the quizzes and tests being timed were slightly annoying however if you know the material or are a good note-taker then you should be great to pass anything. The book wasn't needed and you have to make sure you pay attention to the date that it is due. Would recommend!
Quizzes and Tests contained questions for the next section, so some questions you didn't know the answer to because you hadn't learned it yet. A ridiculous amount of reading that you can't shirk on. Pulls from all of it. Grades on grammar when her own powerpoints aren't proofread. Absolutely miserable experience and I LOVE art history.
This course was well organized and well paced. The instructor gave helpful feedback on assignments and provided everything necessary to succeed in the course. She was also very kind.
Basically whole class is just online quizzes but all the questions come directly from the content of the powerpoints. I started just printing out the power point slides and the class was super easy as long as you knew where to find the content. No honorlock so all the quizzes are open note/book. Once I got the system down it was only an hour a week
This professor really cares about this subject and her students. Her passion comes through in her lectures. She takes the time to know every student by name. If you show up to class and take notes it is a fairly easy class.
Professor Ray is passionate about art history and makes the class engaging. Attendance is mandatory, but pop quizzes are easy if you pay attention. Unstuck AI can be a helpful study tool alongside the lectures.
I would definitely recommend Elise to anyone who is interested in art history or cultural arts (especially with other course, Art of the World). Her lectures are very content heavy, but I still find it very interesting because of all the visuals, videos, and diagrams she includes. You need to attend though, since she regularly does pop quizzes.
It is sometimes hard to pay attention if you are not a history person or an art person. She does do pop quizzes so as long as you come and pay attention you should pass those. The tests are hard, and you get a notecard during it so use it wisely. GO TO CLASS.
I loved learning art history with Elise Ray. She is an inspiring person with so much knowledge, which is very admirable. I was interested in the subject, but it has truly opened my eyes and sparked a new interest. A good professor like her was the reason for my gratitude. Please take this class with her, you will not regret it!
I really enjoyed this class! You do have to pay attention, take notes, and GO TO CLASS in order to pass, but Elise is a very inspirational and insightful person who helped me learn a lot, and her class is very easy to pass as long as you GO. TO. CLASS.
