Painful subject, good teacher. Very nice and helpful. Good organization.
She made everything as clear as possible- and quizzes/the final were open note. What more can you ask for?
I really enjoyed this teacher and she made the class interesting. Shes always really nice if you ask for help, just dont be late and bring your calc. Class is really easy b/c all quizes (which you get the dates of) & tests are open note. The final is easy, just type up a guide from the quizes.
NOT helpful
All open-note tests. Everything's in the textbook. She summarizes the textbook's jargon in class. The TA's do your work for you during recitations. Basically, TAKE THIS CLASS.

What a sweet lady.
Very good lecturer, explains everything thoroughly. Very helful. Quizzes are easy if you come to class and pay attention and keep up with the reading. Not too much work. Great class. Definitely take her.
This class is stats for dummies. Although it is easy and i'm getting an A, i wish there wasmore of a challenge. Basically, onky tak ethis if you want easy stats, and not if you really want to learn anything about statistics.
Gag. This is the perfect class for getting your QR requirement out of the way...if you're a senior or somehow adore math. I myself don't, and this class was tricky for me. If you study A LOT, you can get an A. But basically, make sure to go to class every time and NOT have it in the morning. She's nice, but it's impossible to stay awake.
I love her!! She's a great lecturer who can explain the material clearly and gives a reasonable amount of reading b/c she understands we have other classes. If you keep up with the readings and go to class, you should be fine.
She's a good explainer and a fair grader. You'll learn from her and it's not too boring. She deserves good ratings.
Really clear lecturer, will take questions and answers them clearly. Covers everything in the book during lecture so I never did the reading and still did well. Still buy the book for homework and review though. If you go to lecture and lab and keep good notes you'll do fine.
Notes were good and clear, quizzes easy if you know the notes, final was fine if you understood stuff during the semester... the reading was basically outlined in her notes, so only need to use it as a reference... she's helpful and concerned, but don't ask her stupid questions or never show up to class and take notes, she doesn't appreciate it!
Totally geeky and funny. Well organized, which is so awesome for preparing for tests. You get a front and back note page for Exams. Do the homework and got to lectures, you will be fine.
She is very sweet and helpful. The class really isn't that bad and the examples are very interesting. Her lectures are clear and she will answer all questions.
Prof. Bauer was one of the clearest lecturers I've ever had. I enjoyed going to her class and rarely zoned out. I highly recommend her if you're looking to learn the material very well. People who partied and missed class did not do well.
Great teacher, she puts her powerpoints online so there is no need to go to lectures (though they are not bad). Just make sure you go to every lab- the tests are straight out of the examples done in lab, and you are allowed notes on the tests. The book is used only for homework because the lectures cover all the reading. Easy and fairly enjoyable
Not an easy A, however Professor is open to helping out students. Counts 3 out of 4 tests + final. M/c questions are hard, but computations aren't. Get to use a page of notes for each test. If you go to class you will be fine, you can get by wihtout going to class, but its harder. Labs help out a lot also. I would recommend this course.
Prof. Bauer is an amazing teacher-- so give her a chance and go to class! She actually notices whether or not you're there, and if you do go, she appreciates it. She understands that it is a required course, and teaches appropriately. Everything you learn is relevant to Psychology, so pay attention. Loved her!
Awesome teacher. Shes interesting, extremely clear, and the tests are easy
amazing professor, very clear and easy to follow. lecture handouts basically summarize and outline the text (which is also pretty clear). there are 4 quizzes and a final, lowest grade dropped, and you get to bring a full page of notes to each one. computer assignments can be confusing, but go to section and they're explained too. great class!
I actually found her somewhat unapproachable, but her tests aren't too bad if you go to recitation. The last test is really challenging, although the final is okay. Lots of homework assignments, but if you put effort into them, you'll transfer that knowledge to the exams. It's a decent class considering the subject matter.
Really helpful, genuine professor who acknowledges that most people are taking the class because they have to. It's not an easy A unless you have some stats background, but the grading is very fair.
Disclaimer: I hate math. I only took this class because I had to. You have to dedicate time to this class but I just couldn't stay focused on the abstract material. Bauer is a great professor but I wish the class was 20 students, not 200. I kept getting Cs on the quizes but walked away with a B in the class, so I did something right.
this is an extremely helpful professor, she makes the class so clear! if you go to lectures, you dont even need to read a book, exams are not easy, but ur allowed to take notes. She will never test you on something that wasnt explained in details. i would recommend this professor, she's one of the best i've taken at nyu
I took Professor Bauer for Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences, a class that was required for my major. I was kind of scared going in after having taken Calculus at NYU, but Bauer is funny, clear, very interested in the topic, and very encouraging of her students. Exams are easy if you prepare, and you're allowed to make a double-sided note card
Extremely easy grader. Lectures are unnecessary, you can just read the book and make a two-sided cheat sheet (which she allows). The only annoying thing is that the recitations (labs) are mandatory and SPSS assignments are tedious. She resembles Professor Trelawny from Harry Potter.
Prof. Bauer is amazing! Loved this class. Came in having no interest in psychological statistics and found myself engaged during every lecture. A great course!
I took Statistics for Behavioral Science as my MAP math requirement, and it was the best choice I ever made. The material is fairly simple, Prof Bauer is amazingly helpful and caring, and the material actually had some relevance in the real world. Highly recommended.
Prof. Bauer is extremely clear about what she wants from you, and she's a really fair grader. You get to bring a back and front handwritten sheet of notes to each quiz/exam, and she pretty much tells you exactly what you're going to be tested on.
great professor. gave wksht to review for final. thought class was an easy A if you pay attention to all the lectures & do really well on SPSS hw. weekly txtbk hw isn't really graded but if you do it, you get 1 point (if you don't, you get 0 pts)--basically txtbk hw are like freebie points. I had no background in stats but I got an A at the end.
Professor Baur is super nice and a great teacher. Her exams are not so easy though so you have to study but she is very fair.
It's relatively easy to get an A, as long as you go to every lecture and take good notes. She's a fair grader but the multiple choice is very specific. She's nicer in lecture than one-on-one. I tried to get her help a couple of times and she looked at me like I was an idiot. Go to your TA instead
Professor Bauer is one of the most fair and caring teachers you will encounter at the zoo known as NYU. She is as clear as a teacher can be, accessible, and I have such a major crush on her, oh my freaking god!!!
professor bauer is very nice and fair, most of the questions on her exam is based off the powerpoint she posts on BB. her test consists of mc and few short answers and she allows you to bring in a one pg hand written cheatsheet
She was an OK teacher. I couldn't sit through her lectures for some reason. I wouldn't say I liked her, but I didn't hate her either. Overall ok. It's a mandatory class, so we don't really have a choice haha
A lot easier than AP Stats; she's less particular and her tests are very easy (esp you get to bring a sheet of paper with you). Pulled off a 96 final grade no problem, but I know people are struggling. Just don't overthink it; formulas look scary but they make sense if you just look at the barebones, and she's good at explaining that.
Great teacher! Very funny lectures! Attend class!
Professor Bauer is an incredible lecturer. She's clear, in-depth, and often uses examples relevant to topics in the news. She can be pretty strict regarding deadlines and tardiness, and is a little intimidating at first - but more than fair. I really enjoyed talking to her during her office hours. P.S. I had Emily as a TA and she was fabulous.
One of the best professors I've ever had at NYU. She's really funny and energetic. Attend her lectures because she takes out alot from her notes! The SPSS assignments are very helpful so attend recitation too. She is a fair grader and her tests are comprehensible. If you study, your effort will be reflected in your grade. Take her class! No regrets!
This class is pretty easy. It can be annoying sometimes though, since you have four exams along with a final, but they're all very straightforward. Don't read the book, because she's an excellent lecturer. SPSS assignments are tedious, but otherwise no problem. If you can do the example problems she does in class well, you can easily get an A.
The course is essentially the very basics of stats, with psychology thrown in to help you understand. Bauer is extremely helpful is explaining concepts, and does a great job in lecture. Don't bother with the textbook, just pay attention and you'll be fine.
Excellent and clear lecture style. This is the best part of this course and where you will learn everything so go, take good notes and enjoy. One on one she is not so great and the disabilities office had to get involved on one occasion. Despite this, her lectures are so good I HIGHLY recommend.
Professor Bauer was a great professor. But, if you have a problem, don't be like me; reach out early. I feel like if I had gone for help earlier I could have succeeded more in this class. However, I am not a Psych major, so I really don't have to worry about this in the future. Very nice and approachable prof overall. Would recommend.
Really easy class as long as you go over the class notes. Write everything on your cheat sheet you are allowed to have during exams.
Really difficult material, and the lectures move very quickly. Study a lotttt for your exams. Study like crazy.
She is a great professor. Lectures are clear and super helpful. You really don't even need to buy the book.
Bauer is great. She does her job extremely well, communicates her concepts well, and gives you everything you need to excel on the exams. As a junior, this class was the easiest once I've taken in a while. I know people struggle, but use her online lectures and don't let the equations psych you out!
The best professor I''ve had at NYU so far. She turned my hatred for Math and statistics in particular to absolute love I would take this class again for sure. However I did attend EVERY lecture and recitation and I think that helped a lot skipping class will not help you. Her lectures are online so going over them before a test is helpful.
Bauer is a good lecturer. She makes it clear which topics you should study for exams (there's a lot of those!). The exams were fair: computations were easy, but the multiple-choice conceptual questions can be tricky. Make sure to attend lecture and pay special focus to the CONCEPTS. I had Katherine for TA and she was incredibly helpful.
go to lecture, you will do just fine in the class. have to keep up with what's going on in class because they all build and mesh together. super clear with everything, tries to keep the class engaged @ 9:30 everyday TAs and Lab is helpful for SPSS and reviewing before the test.
Bauer is professional and organized in her lectures. She's very clear in terms of the content on exams. I forgot to turn in a hw assignment and she let me turn it in during office hours for full credit. Just show up to lectures, especially towards the end of the semester where concepts get a lot more complex, and you'll be fine.
She's good at what she does. Pay attention in class and TAKE NOTES. You're allowed to make a cheat sheet for tests, so take those notes
I highly suggest this math course! She relates lessons back to real world examples. Makes math approachable, guides you along the way and breaks down formulas/concepts that may seem overwhelming or intimidating at first. Only used textbook for practice problems. Grading is also fair and based on multiple components.
I'm not a math person so I didn't love this class, but the professor was good. She really knows what she is doing, which is always nice, and will always answer your questions in class even though it's a big lecture. The best thing about this class is that you get to bring notes into the exam, which totally saved me. It's tempting to ditch--don't.
She is absolutely amazing. By far one of the best professors there is at NYU. She's not only clear during her lectures but she also makes stats fun and relatable. If you have any doubts what so ever, go see her because she is always there for you. Her exams may seem daunting at first but she drops one and allows a cheat sheet. MUST TAKE THIS CLASS!
Professor Bauer is very clear, helpful and organized. The grading is very fair and you can pay attention to class(as her lecture slides are online with clear examples). The textbook isn't needed. She drops an exam and all exams are allowed to have a 1 page cheat sheet. For people who aren't "math people", this class is very clear and not hard.
Took her stats course twice - as an undergraduate & as a graduate student. Undergraduate - the work was tedious, required a lot of determination, & persistent effort with specific factors held constant. Graduate - the online lectures were very helpful in obtaining a decent grade as we found the graduate students to be unnecessarily provocative
Bauer's lectures are information packed but always very interesting. The content is definitely hard, but not surprisingly so; she is very clear about what she expects and hard work definitely pays off. My one complaint about her lectures is that they go very quickly, especially for a morning class. My TA, Christina, was absolutely incredible.
Great professor!! Gives thought provoking lectures and is open to questions. Really enjoyed the class and learned a lot. It gets pretty difficult towards the end so make sure to continue reading and doing the assigned practice problems. Professor Bauer is very fair grader so you can definitely make an A if you work enough.
She is an amazing professor and genuinely wants all her students to do well. Always provides detailed notes before class and works through problems in class. I really enjoyed this class and think she provided so many resources that it was hard not to get an A if you showed up to lecture and reviewed your notes.
AMAZING LECTURER!
You must pay attention to the lectures, you will not pass otherwise. The tests, especially towards the end of the semester are extremely difficult. You MUST study for these test. There is not a lot of leniency in her grading. She also was not very patient or helpful when I attended her office hours and she seemed annoyed by students coming to her.
I took MA stats during my first semester of grad school and planned my whole schedule around Dr. Bauer's class because of the reviews I read here. She's amazing - I've been afraid of math my whole life and now I can't wait to take more stats classes! Entire grade is basically based on 4 exams - remember concepts are as important as computations!
Very difficult, comparable to Calc 2 in teaching and difficulty. Heavy workload like Calc 2. The only people who are able to do well have taken AP Stats in high school. Don't take it with Bauer unless its a requirement.
A lot of people seem to think she can be a bit intimidating/sassy but that's really just her sarcastic personality. Her lectures are packed with a lot of good information (which can sometimes be overwhelming) but she is good at explaining when needed. She can be slightly impatient, but only because she holds everyone to such a high standard.
Bauer is a great professor and wants students to do well. Her lectures are clear and exams are fair. Like any math, the end builds on the beginning so keep up
Good professor
Very responsible, organized, helpful professor. Effectively reduces math phobia. Incredible that she has 3 office hours each week - not that you can go for all three every week - try to find your TA instead - but that shows her commitment to teaching. Exams are fair. Grasp the basic concepts and you should be able to do well with some practices.
a lot of people saying it's critical to go to lecture, but i disagree - you'll make an easy a if you go to recitation and pay attention to what you're writing down on the cheat sheet she lets you bring into exams. it's all about practicing the material, and between recitation worksheets and homework assignments there's plenty opportunity
One favorite teachers at NYU thus far. As a student who enjoys math but has never been excellent at it, I found her class quite manageable and rewarding. One tool I found quite helpful was in actually reading the text before exams. Sometimes I could not follow her lecture at such an early hour, but I found the text beyond adequate. Not hard.
SHE'S AMAZING. TAKE HER. I hate Stats w/ passion, but loved this class and went to every single lecture because she's perfection. Her lectures are so helpful- clear, funny, and always gives clear/ interesting examples. Always open for questions and available outside of class. Drops one exam and gives you many other opportunities to redeem yourself
Organized, amazing lectures, applies stats to real life, really knows her craft. Honestly speaking, she is one of the best professors I've had at NYU (saying alot, because I've had many of the "hyped" professors at nyu). The material gets hard toward the end, but thats not her fault. With consistent studying, an A is achievable.
I absolutely loved this class and this professor. She teaches the material extremely clearly. Lowest exam gets dropped and each exam (including the final) allows for a cheat sheet. Also, if you ever miss class, her lectures are on Youtube! Highly recommend
Easily the best professor I've had at NYU thus far. Even if you're afraid of statistics, Beth makes it easy to understand and pushes you to do your best. Go to lectures and put the work in and you'll be golden.
Prof. Bauer is an excellent professor, and makes Statistics manageable and sometimes even enjoyable. You will learn the material and be thankful that you did.
Great professor. Makes Stats easy, and I've never taken it before. Cheat sheets on all exams and final. Lowest exam is dropped. Fun and interesting lectures. Make the cheat sheet thoroughly and it's an easy A (it also forces you to study. Would 100% take again! Also, lectures on youtube if you miss.
Shes a great teacher. Took the same class in high school and did terribly. Took her class and got a high A. She is insanely intelligent and sweet. Very helpful outside of class. Lets you review your tests and lets you bring in some notes for test days.
Attendence is taken through app, so you don't really have to be there. She allows a "cheat sheet" for tests. Strongly recommended
For someone who really hates math, Bauer was a great prof. Daily attendance through an app, but u don't have to be there. double sided handwritten cheat cheat allowed. 4 exams, lowest is dropped, 1 cumulative final. recitation was pretty annoying. if u find urself falling behind, make sure to get a tutor asap.
Absolutely awful. She is a kind lady but her lectures are hard and she goes too fast. The only ones who do not struggle in her class are the ones who already took statistics in high school.
Great instructor, caring, and nice. Goes over content thoroughly, tells us what topics will be on the exam, and even allows a cheat sheet and formula sheet to use during the exam. Could even drop our lowest exam grade. SPSS assignments were annoyingly tedious to complete but helpful in learning and understanding material.
Dr. Bauer made lecture fun and even though the class was at 9:30, she still managed to always be wide awake and ready to be enthusiastic about statistics. It is amazing that she lets us always bring a cheat sheet in for each exam and drops the lowest exam grade. I hate stats but this professor was definitely a gem.
Great professor, great class. Makes stats understandable and really works to help you. Drops the lowest test and weights the tests so students do better. Loved her lectures and really learned a lot. I had never taken higher than pre-calc and did well in the class. Not an easy A but definitely doable. Many opportunities to improve your grade.
Great professor! Makes statistics super accessible for those who haven't studied it before. Tests are a big portion of the grade, but she allows for a cheat sheet. As long as you attend the lectures you'll be fine.
Though I have never taken stats before, I really liked her class. It can be definitely challenging for some people. You have to work to get it: the good grade. Recitation leader really helped.
Dr. Bauer is the best professor I've had so far at NYU. The way she structures her lectures and recitation make it so easy and enjoyable to learn stats. If you like knowing the why and how behind the math you will love her! She gives the lecture a high school learning style (which is great!). Caring and an amazing lecturer. Unbelievably fair tests!
Professor Bauer is an absolutely amazing professor. I took Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences with her and she made statistics fun, engaging, and easy to understand. She explains everything clearly and is always happy to answer questions and help you if you're stuck. She is by far one of the best professors I've had.
I love Professor Bauer! She's extremely engaging and genuinely wants you to succeed. I was nervous coming in, but she's one of those rare profs that knows the material inside and out AND knows how to teach it to a variety of learning types. She has high but clear standards, and I would take this class again in a heartbeat.
i dreaded this class. But I can't say I didn't learn anything. What you take away from this class is very valuable. I wish I never have to take another stats class again. BUT IF YOU HAVE TO, TAKE BAUER.
Dr. Bauer is an amazing professor, I honestly wish more professors were like her. She makes the information easy to understand and she doesn't mind explaining again. She offers a textbook, but her explanations are a lot better. Assignments and tests were extremely fair. One of my favorite profs at NYU!
Bauer is a super chill professor. The subject itself isn't the easiest, and can definitely get confusing. She helps summarize the textbook meaning you don't have to read it, but you probably should if you are confused (which if you haven't taken stats before, you probably will be). There's no homework, but there are larger assignments and tests.
Took this class Spring 2020. Bauer is AMAZING! The class goes a bit fast at first, but if you put in the effort, you can get an A. SPSS Assignments aren't as bad as ppl say if you start them early enough.
Bauer is such a gem and stops if anyone has questions. I never took stats in high school and thought it was easy. No need to read the textbook tbh because her explanations are much clearer anyway. SPSS assignments aren't bad: just follow recitation worksheets. Tests are based on lecture example calculations and they're open book. Loved the class!
If you get the chance, take her class! Her lectures were so informative and she made sure the class was engaged. She gave a lot of examples and practice, plus she answered questions thoroughly. There were a lot of assignments and exams, which means that if you fail at something, you have a lot to fall back on still. She was great!
Prof. Bauer's lectures were very helpful, and the course material is fairly easy. SPSS assignments are really easy if you pay attention in recitation (they're easy even if you don't pay attention tbh). Tests are open book and fairly easy (my lowest grade on an exam was a B and I hadn't gone to lecture for two weeks.)
So many tests but I guess that's what you can expect from a stats class. Prof Bauer was really sweet and great at answering questions, even with 100+ people in an online lecture. The class was difficult but she teaches it well, and you can tell she cares.
She is the most lenient professor I have ever met. If you are someone who is scared of math, I promise you this class is not that hard. However, you must review before each exam. Her exams are usually what she says during lectures. So pay attention.
I liked Prof Bauer. She's one of the few professors that actually talks slowly, repeats what needs to be repeated and stops frequently to ask if we have any questions. I felt I learned a lot from her.
Prof. Bauer is super caring, organized, and fair with her tests. You take 4 tests throughout semester and can drop your lowest one. Material is straight from her lectures (super easy) and TAs are super accessible over email/after class. Easiest stat class by far. 4 tests (or 3 if you wanna skip 1) , 4 homeworks, 1 final
Professor Bauer was a very good professor and I would recommend taking her class. She also always stays after class to answer any questions students may have. Reading the textbook or at least doing the suggested homework assignments will help you understand the material a lot better.
An amazing professor for statistics. It is a hard subject, but she was able to explain it in simple words and was accessible outside the class by office hours or the appointment. Definitely take her and no one else if you actually want to learn.
Professor Bauer is an amazing professor. However, this is not a class that you can get an easy A. The class is packed with statistic materials and the lecture will go over these concepts in very fast pace. So be prepared work for an A.
She is honestly very respectful and a very kind professor. The course is intense but she definitely does make it better. She will not let you retake an exam except for dire circumstances and only drops the lowest exam score. Other than that there is barely any homework assigned and exams are a big part of the grade.
Prof. Bauer is an AMAZING professor. The content/class is super fast paced and a little difficult, but it is obvious that she knows what she is teaching inside and out and she is always available to answer any questions even in a class with 100+ students. You can tell she really cares about what she does.
Poll everywhere questions in each lecture. 4 midterms and a final. 4 SPSS assignments. Lecture attendance graded through pollev. Recitation attendance is 3% of the grade. I had to take this class because it's required as a psychology major. But the professor is very nice and understanding. The TAs are helpful. Take this for quantitative reasoning.
Incredible! Everything you want in a professor. The class is difficult but if you pay attention in class, go to recitation, review the practice problems, and overall care about doing well, you will do fine! The lectures can be long, but Prof Bauer lets the class go early to be nice! She understands it's a lot of material and wants to help! Take it!
Professor Bauer is one of the best stats professors at NYU, and she has many experiences and years of teaching in this field. I recommend doing the textbook problems to help prepare for the assessments and taking advantage of her office hours. She explains concepts very clearly, which helped me understand the material better.
Professor Bauer is amazing. She is very clear in her lectures and she makes sure everyone understands so you definitely want to go. The textbook is a great resource but her lectures mostly cover the material. There are 4 quizzes (allowed one cheat sheet) and 4 SPSS assignments. You really just have to study and do practice problems.
I don't think you can find a professor that teaches stats better than professor Bauer.
I'm bad at math. This course material is hard but they make it easy to get an A. I didn't go to lecture and didn't pay attention in recitation. All I did was rewatch lectures before exams/the final. You get a cheat sheet you can bring for exams, write down example problems on this sheet so you know exactly how to do computations on exams. HW is easy.
Professor Bauer was born to teach this course. She makes everything so clear, she is funny, she has energy, and she cares about her students. I never thought I would say that behavioral statistics was my favorite class, but because of Professor Bauer, it was.
Professor Bauer is incredible. She answers questions patiently, clearly, and without judgement. She goes at a brisk speed but always makes sure the class is with her. Some She poses lots of questions for the class to actively engage in the lecture and examples as well. During the lectures, even her cadence led towards student comprehension.
Professor Bauer is one of the best professors I have ever met. I wasn't confident at my statistics, but she taught the class very clearly and gave us a lot of resources to practice and understand the lecture content, and I am very grateful to her for teaching this class so well, so that this class was not that difficult for me.
Very structured course and clear for the concepts. You can tell this is a very well-developed class from all the perspectives. And now I am taking the advanced level stat course, I have to come back to check her recordings!
Bauer is great but PLS do not take this if u dont have to. It is ridiculously hard with an absurd workload. Isn't Bauer's fault she does everything she can to help, but if youre bad at math this class will derail your life. Impossible and endless tests and assignments. You have been warned.
Prof. Bauer is the kindest but the class is VERY difficult if u r not good at math. I'm APUG major and I wish I chose Basic Stats instead. Not the prof's fault but fast paced: 1 chapter/lecture; 5 tests including final, 74% of your grade. No practice exams. MC extremely difficult, computations were okay since there's cheatsheet. I had to find tutor
Professor Bauer is an excellent teacher and she will answer any single question you have. However, this course is very heavy & the tests are way too long to finish in the time given which is annoying. They're also a huge chunk of your final grade, so good luck with that.
Overall a great professor, able to explain very difficult mathematical concepts in very simple terms. If you do well in the first 3 exams you do not have to take the final. The SPSS assignments were a bit annoying, but mostly because of TAs. Attend the lecture and you will be fine.
The class was alright, it's what you can expect from a math class. Bauer is a good teacher, but its just very difficult to keep track of all the content. The class is very exam heavy, and they're not easy, but not impossible. SPSS is annoying because TAs grade them. She's really nice, the class is just fast paced.
One of the easiest classes @ NYU. attend lectures & make a good cheat sheet. ur funny if u think i retained info; make sure u understand things for exams & make a solid cheat sheet w/ EVERYTHING. spss is annoying, but satisfying & easy. All her questions are exactly like recitation examples & lectures, it's never anything out of pocket. GREAT prof!
Professor Bauer is a wonderful professor who is always willing to answer questions and go over concepts. The textbook can also be helpful in solidifying the concepts that she teaches. I'd recommend making comprehensive cheat sheets for exams and using recitation worksheets and slides to complete SPSS assignments. Practice problems are also helpful.
Available outside office hours. Will walk through the problem step by step and understands if you're not really a math person. Very kind professor.
Professor Bauer teaches concepts in a very clear and easy-to-understand way. Go to lectures because the material is pretty much identical to what you'll get on the exams.
Professor Bauer is super kind and helpful. Her lectures are clear and informative, and she makes it very clear what we need to know for exams. I would definitely recommend taking this class!
Nice professor. 1 extra credit by participating in one research through SONA. Not much homework, only 4 spss assignments through a semester, but they take a big part of final grade, 20%. 4 midterm and final, the lowest score will be dropped, include final. But if you are satisfied with your first four exams, you can miss the final exam.
Professor Bauer is an exceptional statistics instructor. Her clear explanations, engaging teaching style, and dedication to student success make learning statistics an enjoyable experience. She is approachable, always willing to help, and provide valuable insights that simplify complex concepts.
Love Bauer. She is such a clear, a precise lecturer. She loves to teach and always willing to answer questions. Her exams very much so reflect the practice problems she gives. Easy to excel in this class! Love her!
Professor Bauer was great, she just wasn't always the most organized. Her class would've been a lot easier if she clearly mapped out examples for exams. Your lowest exam grade gets dropped.
Professor Bauer explains topics in a way that makes them easier to understand. There were 4 HW assignments spanned throughout the semester. Tests aren't too bad, and you get a cheat sheet. I'm not good at math, but I found this class reasonable!
What made me successful in Prof Bauer's class was going to her office hours regularly. Even if I had the smallest question I still went and she answered every question with patience. Try to take notes in class even if it is a bunch of incoherent sentences because she says key phrases that may be on the exam.
Her lectures are really clear with lots of examples. You get a cheat sheet for exams, and if you do well on first four exams you do not have to take final. Pay attention to lectures and redo examples she presents, and you will do well.
she was really good, just make sure you stay on top of the information. classes start to move QUICK so take good notes--- the stuff she says in class is really useful. personally i wouldn't bother skipping this class because if you miss one, you HAVE to catch up on your own. she was really good tho!
The lectures can be fast, but she always posts the lecture slides and the zoom recordings. In terms of grading, there are 4 exams and a final, but you can drop the lowest score including the final. Overall, she is a great professor.
Professor Bauer is amazing and caring! She is very patient in terms of questions, and has a nice grading policy. There are 4 tests, but the lowest can be dropped and the final is optional if you are satisfied with your test grades. She also posts everything on Brightspace. Definitely recommend for requirement fulfillment!
I was part of the horrible at math, fearing this class crowd. But you will do well in this class if you read, take notes, & do the textbook questions, go to TA whenever you do not understand something (even the smallest things), and attend her lectures. It is a piece of cake because you get front & back sheet of notes, and she gives u every formula
Prof.Bauer is a really really good professor! Take her class! She prepares amazing lectures for everyone! She's patient with students' questions, and she's encouraging!!!!!!!!!
Sweet lady. Class is very manageable and even if you don't go to the lectures (I never do) all the exams are only on like 6 recorded lectures so just watch those in your available time. She also lets you skip final if you do good on the first four exams. Overall, a nice intro stats class that isn't too stress inducing. Homework is pretty chill too.
She is so sweet and genuinely cares about her students. Even though it is a lecture based class, student asks questions and there are discussions. 5 exams, but one can be dropped. Tests are really easy if you watch the lectures, but if you can't go everything is posted on brightspace including the lectures. Love her so much.
Love Bauer! One of the best classes I've taken at NYU. Stats gets super confusing but she tries to break it down and make it as easy as possible for you to do well. Cheat sheets allowed on the exam, 5 exams including a final, but you don't have to take the final if you do well on the first 4. Avoid taking the final at all costs - it's cumulative!
Professor Bauer is great - very patient and explains concepts clearly. The workload is manageable if you stay on top of the material. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for practice problems and study prep. Definitely recommend this class for requirement fulfillment.
Professor Bauer does her best to make Stats interesting and understandable. Her lectures can be dense, but she does a great job at breaking down the concepts. Tests are exactly what you expect and SPSS assignments have clear instructions and are straight forward.
Professor Bauer is amazing. Her exams clearly reflect the material/examples from class, and nothing is out of left field. She is super fair, and offers a drop if you don't do well on an exam. If you find stats boring, you will still respect and appreciate her. Would definitely recommend the class.
Professor Bauer is such a great professor who really cares about students grades. This class is very easy as long as you stay on track & go to office hours for any questions you have. Class is both in person and on zoom, but i suggest going in person so you can build a relationship with the professor.
3/4ths of your grade is compiled of 5 exams, with your lowest grade dropped. I highly recommend studying for the first four exams because those focus on several chapters, and then you won't have to take the final that is cumulative. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I recommend going in person because you learn a lot better.
Her teaching is great, attend her lectures and the tests should be fine.
If you study well, then an A is easy, but if you study ok then A- shouldn't be hard to get. Lectures are heavy most of the time and throws a lot of information in a short amount of time. Looking back at the recordings is what helped the most. I didn't understand half of the concepts, but the math is more of what your graded on.
Bauer is a great professor. I hate math, but I had to take this class for credit, and she made it surprisingly okay. She records lectures, and you can attend them online if you want, but I would recommend going in person. It's basically all tests and statistical computing assignments. You're good if you pay attention and go to class.
Professor Bauer is a very kind and caring professor. This class was quite tough though. We reviewed new information every single week and never had the chance to review past topics. Quizzes were also on topics that we had covered a few weeks previous, so you really need to make sure that you review and understand everything.
The lectures were interesting and made a hard topic easy to learn. Professor Bauer is so nice and funny would 100% take again.
she gives clear, helpful lectures and so many resources online to help you ace exams. You can literally bring a cheat sheet to exams. As long as you do practice questions and pay attention/take good notes in lectures, there's no reason to not get an A (unless you skipped classes and didn't do work like me but even I still got a B...)
Bauer is a good professor and makes herself very accessible. However, PSYCH-UA 10 is incredibly boring. I did not pay attention in lecture, but still did well on exams as you are allowed a double sided cheat sheet, and the prof gives you the topics for it. I copied straight from her notes for my cheat sheet and got consistent 90s.
The class was pretty difficult, but Bauer made it easy to comprehend and learn. 74 percent of your grade is exams but she drops one and you can bring a cheat sheet to every one. She also records all of her lectures which makes it really easy to review when it comes to studying for exams! Two thumbs up for Bauer.
Prof Bauer gives really amazing stats lectures even for non psych majors. She is caring and accessible outside of class. This course is challenging but hard work will definately pay.
Very easy to do well if you put in the effort. Lectures are easy to understand with plenty of examples, and you get to use a page of notes on the exams.
Dr. Bauer is such a good professor. Her lectures are so straightforward. She goes over the content so well, anyone rarely has to ask questions. I will say, the tests are the main part of your grade, but if you go to the lectures and pay attention, it's pretty easy. She also lets you bring a cheat sheet to each test. Overall, she's amazing.
Genuinely thought I would hate stats but Professor Bauer made it such a fun and manageable class. She records lectures, lets you bring a double-sided cheat sheet, has 1 point of extra credit, a ton of office hours, and lets you drop an exam. Honestly if you study there is no reason not to get 100s or at least 90s in everything.
She was awesome and made stats really easy to comprehend. 10/10!!!
she explains stats so beautifully and she allows a cheat sheet for every exam and she drops ur lowest one so if u score high on all ur exams u dont have to tale the final. she takes time to answer any questions in class. I promise you I would have passed all my math courses if she taught them. You are blessed if u have her as a professor
she's deleting her reviews BE WARNED
One of the best professors that I have had at NYU! Lectures are easy to follow and the professor is always ready to answer questions. You can tell that she has a great deal of knowledge about statistics. The professor allows a large cheat sheet with front and back for each exam too!
I came to this class with zero knowledge of math or stats. Her lectures can be quite rushed and unclear at times, and I highly recommend getting help from a tutor if you struggle within the first 2 weeks. The cheat sheets are a tremendous positive. Highly recommend taking this class! I can't believe that I can say that I enjoy statistics now lol
She's great! I'm not the greatest with math or stats but she's very accessible outside of class and really wants you to succeed (office hours 3x a week!).
prof bauer explains important stats concepts so clearly and very straightforward. lecture moves at a relatively fast pace to cover all the material, but w/ the practice we do in class, spss hw, and the cheat sheets, the exams really aren't too bad at all. do well on the first 4 exams (which is super manageable) and you don't have to take the final!
Professor Bauer records her lectures and teaches in an extremely clear manner. Even though this course is test heavy, most of the questions are straight out of the lecture slides. An easy math course to fulfill the quantitative requirement.
For those of you who are saying she's the bomb- bro- stop exaggerating! Okayy!? She's aight. Her TA's do everything; the middle 2 tests/4 can be done by a Pre-Ker, she lets you have a cheat sheet, and you can ace the homework because it;s done virtually through a quasi-coding program for Stats called SPSS lmao. Her-nice BUT Class- ruined my health!
Prof Bauer made stats easy to understand. Her lectures move fast, but I'm not the greatest at math and found the course to be manageable. Her tests are fair, and she drops one, even though they're a large portion of your grade. I found the MCQ to be the trickiest part of the exams, but having a cheat sheet helped with those questions.
