she keeps class fun with her quirky personality. quizes are all vocabulary and very easy. homework sucks but she usually takes class time out to help. tests arent too bad either, and her lab tests follow the prelabs. overall i liked her.
Chem itself it hard. Must be willing to work hard.Homework is extremly difficlut. I went into her office hours many times. Test have been different every semester depending if she has time to write her own test... She is very smart and knows what she is doing. Just dont get on her bad side. She can sometimes make you feel dumb if you ask a question
Don't bother asking her a question unless you've read the assigned chapters, including everything you're supposed to remember from 1411. Otherwise, prepare to feel stupid when she answers. She cancels her office hours a lot and only allows one person at a time in there, so get there early. Teaches well, tests are hard. Homework is hard as well.
She teaches from slides and pretty much just reads them word for word. She seems cool at first, but her personality is very annoying and I started to hate the class. She assigns about 14 hours of online homework per test, and the questions on the tests are rarely reviewed or talked about in class.
At first you will think she is nice and great but you will soon find out she isn't
Great prof very easy on the eyes!!
I would recommend her - she can be a little frustrating at first because sometimes when you ask her a question it can seem like shes looking down on you & it makes you feel stupid, but I dont think she realizes shes doing it. The OWL h/w can be a little much but I found it helped me out a lot, and if you just keep up w/ the labs you'll be golden :D
Dr. Bell is a great teacher. She does seem sometimes to be sarcastic or rude, but she is really nice and I dont think it is intentional. He lectures are not too long, but very helpful. The test are hard and you are meant to fail, but even failing terrible you make a C. So do your labs and do ok on test and your fine. GREAT TEACHER!
Lectures and explains things pretty good, but otherwise terrible. Talks down to you when you ask questions. Doesn't write the homework or the tests, and gets them from separate sources, so you're completely unprepared for the tests. They are ridiculous, as is the amount of online homework that she gives. This is the 1st class I'm happy with a C in.
GREAT PROF! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great Professor. Answers your questions and uses spare class time going over the homework. You will need that time because homework is long and hard and tests are just the same. if you do all the homework, labs and worksheets and fail the tests, you will get at least a C
Her class is fairly easy. Her tests are have but homework, labs and bonus assignments help alot towards your grade. I made a low grade for not doing any homework and she encourages question asking during lectures. Uses extra time in class for homework which is very helpful since it is alot of homework.
She was a awesome teacher! Her test are hard, and the homework questions are hard, but she gives so much extra credit it makes up for it. She is very nice and will sit down with you before a test and answer questions. If you do bad on test, it is okay because there is extra credit. i HIGHLY recommend taking her she's awesome!
she was okay. if you ask a question she says, "you should know this by now" she is tough when it comes to labs.
I loved Dr. Bell! She was so nice and silly! Super helpful with everything, even things not dealing with chemistry. She is strict on late work, but it is not hard AT ALL. Take her, one of the best teachers I have had at Blinn! I will miss her as my teacher!
She is a good professor in her own right, she cares a lot about her students. However she can be a bit bipolar and rather cold at times. She does offer more extra credit that most teachers and is very fair.
The is very helpful with her students and wants you to succeed. She can be hard if you fall behind or slack off but it's up to you to stay atop of things. No curves on her test but they are fairly easy. A lot of extra credit that overtime adds up to over 25 points out of her 1,000 point scale so DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. Easy B but you must work for A
She uses the textbook as her powerpoints and her tests are not difficult if you learn what she teaches in class. KNOW THE VOCAB. She knows what she's talking about, and will do nearly anything to help you learn. If you visit her outside of class, she will do whatever it takes to help. If you don't like chemistry, or even if you do, TAKE HER!
She is an awesome professor who genuinely cares about her students and their success. She is also extremely funny, helpful and gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. I would reccommend her to everyone!
Not a bad prof. She definitely cares, but can be patronizing at times (She admits this, and says it isn't purposeful). There is a ton of extra credit available. Tests aren't terrible, but you must know the material. Overall, I would recommend her.
She was okay, tends to make students feel dumb but somehow I received an A in the class. Extra credit is crazy helpful
At first it seems like the class will be difficult (makes you get textbook, code for online HW, a clicker, lab manual) but as the year goes on those things help you in the class. She is very smart and is good at explaining. Does tons of things to help you pass! If you don't miss a single class/or tardy she gives you extra credit at end of year
This class is definitely challenging but if you show up and study you shouldn't have a problem. The exams are pretty hard but she gives you old exams to study ad basically every question on the exam is on some of the old exams. Very strict but very helpful. Love almost every minute of this class. Sometimes she made me wanna pull my hair out though
She has great ways of getting you to memorize concepts. However I found her to be really rude. I came to the test after throwing up badly the night before. I went to tell her and she proceeded to tell me to stand far away from her and if I had to run to the bathroom I couldn't. And that I could leave and spend $ on a drs note. Really insensitive.
Honestly I didn't like her at all. It was extremely difficult to keep up in her class, especially if you work a part-time job. She requires several hours of homework. I barely passed with a C. If you're good at chem you won't have a problem. If you're new to it, find a different instructor.
Shes probably the best prof. Ive ever had. If you are a lazy bone head andor dont care about school, dont take her. she will not like you and you will not like her. I promise it will be messy. But to any of you hard working chumps that are reading this, get in there, cinch your belt and extra hole tighter, and take ms. Bells class.
Here's the deal, Dr. Bell was an awesome teacher. She kept class interesting for a subject that many find difficult and boring. The course is tough but she is there for you all the time. Go to her office hours and she will be more than willing to help. There is a lot of homework but manageable. In summary: Tough class with a great teacher.
In Dr. Bell's words, "Chemistry is tough," & it's not for everyone. If you're ready to work for your grade, then this is the class for you. She's always willing to help if you have questions. The frustrating part of this course is that the online homework, reviews, & lab activities are not as easy as the work you do in class. NO CURVES. Decent prof
Mrs. Bell was always there for every student, unfortunately many of them never came. Go to office hours prepared with questions, go over the online practice exams, do all the homework and most importantly make sure you understand how to do every problem from everything, and you will never fail a test. Also use the clicker polls to study!
I thought Bell's classes were the most organized and systematic classes I've had in a long time. She had a professional yet friendly attitude (if you didn't waste her time) and an array of funny moments. She loves her job and it shows. Caution: You will be memorizing lots of formulas, and will have to know why and how they work.
Dr. Bell is a wonderfully enthusiastic professor and I enjoy her class. She gave 3 exams this semester, offers some extra credit, does not curve, and drops a few minor assignments and about 3 labs. You would have to work pretty hard to get an A. The tests are tough so really make sure you're prepared for them.
shes a pretty bad teacher no doubt about it
Dr. Bell does not care about her students. She could not care less about how well her students do. She is also very sarcastic in a mean way towards some of her students. The class was made terrible with lots of online homework. In addition, her test reviews are absolutely nothing like the test. I would never take Dr. Bell again in my life.
I am pretty decent at chemistry, but this is the hardest chemistry course I've taken. Her tests are extremely hard, and she doesnt curve. She is also not very lenient in her class room policies, and just makes the class as hard as possible.
Sarcastic thick lady who gives reviews that are nothing compared to the exams. She has the most sarcastic attitude which is really annoying at times. She kinda thick tho. Also weird at times. Nah, but for real fam, dont do it. She a mean bean.
She is a enthusiastic/sarcastic teacher, which is why many students didn't like her. Strict on rules for lab days, doesn't curve, but drops many grades. You'll learn the material through lecture days, online hw, or by searching online. This class gets harder as the semester goes by. I liked the way she taught and you just have to push through.
You'll do the homework online & learn the lesson before class starts, so class is for review of the material you learned for homework. You'll teach yourself online with the textbook. If you learn better by having homework after the lecture, don't take her. She's available outside of class. Previous post are correct about her sarcasm and being rude
Coming from someone that didn't really like Dr. Bell as a person, some of these reviews are inaccurate. Dr. Bell is extremely organized and is very up front from the beginning. If you do the online homework and take good notes, this class is a given B. Just follow her rules. She is pretty sarcastic, though. Also, she definitely does curve tests.
I did not enjoy this class. Mrs Bell was sarcastic & harsh. Her class seemed rushed and she had what felt like 50 clicker questions a day for a grade, while we were learning what she was teaching. I went to her office so she could re-explain something to me and she treated me like i was dumb and made me feel awful. overwhelming amount of homework
Dr. Bell is a wonderful professor. Her teaching style is set up so that you actually learn the material. Yes, there's a lot of homework and readings but it is designed to help you. All the negative comments about her are from students who didn't put in the work. She has an awesome teaching style and if you come to class prepared, you'll do great.
Professor Bell is great. She is engaging with her students and wants to answer questions. As long as you pay attention in class and do what she tells you to do, there's no reason to make below a B. She does offer some extra credit throughout the course.
Dr. Bell is one of the best teachers at Blinn and probably the best science teacher Ive ever had. She gives a lot of homework; however, she gives quite a bit of extra credit. The class goes by very fast; however, she will be always there to help you. The tests are hard, but if you study the clicker questions and the practice exams, easy B.
She isnt a pleasant person to be around, never hated a person before i met her.
Dr. Bell is a very well educated teacher. She has everything planned out for the whole semester. You are expected to read, do quizzes, pre-labs, labs, homework, and then the test. She is always there to help however. She is always in her office, and you can even text her before 8pm. It was probably one of the most difficult, yet rewarding classes.
I really do not like this woman. She is an extremely unhelpful teacher and I honestly think she gets pleasure from giving out horrible grades. I have never received a D for a grade until this class, and now I have to retake the course this summer. I do not recommend her at all
Dr. Bell is the GOAT. She gives a lot of homework, but it is tailored to help you for the test. Her tests are a difficult, but study the practice exams and they are very doable. I wish she taught all my science classes.
Dr. Bell is a phenomenal teacher. In this class, there is a direct relationship between the amount of work you put and your grade. She extremely helpful and is super nice during office hours. DO THE PRACTICE TESTS! She doesn't curve, but her tests are fair and she gives a lot of extra credit. She gives a lot of work, but it pays off at the end.
Dr. Bell is a great teacher, as she teaches she does clicker question to make sure we are learning the material. She has a lot of office hours and even gives a phone number to text her if you have questions bc she is that willing to help. Given she can be sarcastic, funny, rude, and can make you feel dumb. just put in the effort and youll be fine
Dr. Bell is honest about her policy from day one. She tells you the class will require work and expects you to do it. If you do your homework and spend time studying her old material you can pass no problem.
I have no idea what these kids are going on about, saying she nice? oh nah my people she not nice, not cold. Test are different from reviews (probably done on purpose). very sarcastic. Lot of homework which is good for practice, but not for her exams.
Her lectures are easy to follow and interactive. She is probably the most sarcastic person on Earth and it comes off very rude. With that being said, she cares that you learn the material, so don't be discouraged to ask her for help. The exams aren't too hard; definitely review the old ones she provides. She says she doesn't curve, but she does.
DO NOT TAKE HER! She is extremely mean and disrespectful. This was my worst teacher ever. She only gives extra credit because the averages on all her tests are below 60% so many people drop. She said "I love questions and I am here to help" but whenever I asked her a question the second day of class she lost it and said nothing but horrible things.
Dr. Bell is a phenomenal and very inspiring teacher. All the bad reviews are from the students who did not put in the work. She is super helpful and will even give a phone number to ask questions. She is best science teacher at Blinn.
Hardest class I've ever taken. ( I've taken Bio, A&P 1 and 2, & Microbiology and this tops them all). Absolutely excellent professor. Her tests are the hardest ones I have ever seen. Used iClickers every day in class. She is very accessible, ready to answer any questions, gives a TON of extra credit. Incredibly strict & sarcastic.
She is very clear at the beginning of the semester about her policy and the work you have to put in for this course, she seems very tough at the begin but as you get into the semester , she is a very kind and caring person. She even has a number for you to ask her questions out of class, she replies fast or you can go to her office (She has snacks)
I personally loved having Professor Bell as my General Chem. 1 professor. She is incredibly helpful and insightful. She is a bit sarcastic but I didn't mind it. However, if you aren't willing to put in the effort you won't pass, SIMPLE AS THAT.
its a hard class because its a hard subject but she really tries to help you as much as she can. she makes all her lectures available to print out before class so you can listen to her. and she also give lots of different grades through out the semester so you dont fail a class and youre screwed.
Prof. Bell while she is extremely intelligent and knows chemistry well she can not teach. She is very sarcastic and also very rude. Dont try to ask questions because they wont be answered. Personally I love chemistry and believed I would do well but her test have nothing to do with lecture or homework. Good luck yall.
I took her because her rating seemed to be really good, but it's a lie. She knows chemistry pretty well, but if you have a question she won't help you at all. She wants you to fail because she thinks if you fail you are learning which isn't how it works for everybody . She also makes her test harder than the stuff you've been learning.
Do your homework and take good notes of the lectures and you will be solid.
An absolutely exceptional prof. Chem is hard so your grade will be a reflection of how much work you put in to the class, but she provides you with all the resources you need. Can come off as rude, but is really just sarcastic. However, beware of online assignment deadlines. She is very much a 'mom' type professor. Love her!
Dr. Bell is the sweetest person and the most caring professor. She loves to help her students and wants them to succeed. Chem is not my strong subject but she was always able to answer my questions and be patient with me. She made going to lab a great experience and I loved having her as my professor!
I had her blended class, so I can't speak for how her normal classes are I would never recommend anyone take her blended chem 2 . She was always available for questions, but we had to teach ourselves nearly all material--the online lectures she recorded were extremely lacking. Dont do online chemistry--EVER
Struggled through chemistry in high school and honestly one of the best science class experiences I have had in college. Lectures are clear and lots of examples done make studying easy. Tests really do make you work for it but studying the notes/in class examples/practice tests will get you at least a B.
I don't have enough characters to describe how much I love this lady. She is by far the most caring and genuine professor I have ever had. Its such a tough class but she really does truly want everyone to succeed. Ask questions, tell her when you're struggling, and build a relationship with her. She will never fail anyone that tries their hardest.
Not a good online professor, avoid this class in the online format! Very short lectures that do not go in-depth. Does not curve at all, test averages are in the low C range.
her test averages are in the low F range, not the low C range
A very unfair online professor. Her lectures just aren't there and she expects you to teach yourself. Very hard tests because youtube just doesn't teach in-depth enough.
You couldnt pay me to go through this class again. 1. Rude prof 2. Lectures dont help on test 3. Everyone in my class dropped but 1 or 2 people 4. You teach yourself so be prepared
Probably one of the worst online professors I've ever had. Not able to teach the material well enough for you to pass the tests.
Dr. Bell is seriously the most caring Professor I have had in my college career. She is super accessible through Microsoft Teams, like she will get back to you in like 10-20 minutes max. Offers tons of extra credit. Makes Chemistry as easy to understand as possible. Uses cute memes that boost morale. Truly, a gem.
I took her all online class and she wasn't clear on due dates at all so when I thought I was done with my assignments for the week I didn't go on my laptop because i thought i was done and then i went to look that next week after dealing with family stuff and she dropped me.
I dont understand how she has any positive ratings. I got a question that said how can an atom gain a - charge I answered by losing a proton or gaining an electron. She gave me no credit. When asked she agreed with me, but still refused to give me credit. She also berated me in a lab and apologized the next day. Shes crazy stay away.
She's a pretty solid choice, but you would have to work for an A. Do the practice exams and OWLs and you'll be fine.
Bell is a solid choice in my opinion. She's pretty funny and her lectures aren't really boring. There is a heavy amount of homework, if you want to succeed you MUST do all of it. Do not half ass the OWL hw, can make difference btw A and B. To do well on tests really study the old practice exams she gives you. She's WAYY better than my AP Chem prof.
Does not curve or give extra credit, use the practice tests to learn for the tests (very similar and some questions are the same), do all of the OWL homework, go to class because of the class participation questions which will help grade, and very easy to access outside class. If you yawn you may be asked to stand in the back of the room
Dr. Bell is a great chem prof! She has a lot of content on eCampus like lecture videos and practice quizzes that are useful for test prep. You can easily message her on Teams whenever and she will respond as soon as possible (like 4 am kind of early). There is a lot of hw and lecture content, but if you put in the effort, you will surely pass.
She's an ok teacher meaning you will learn from most of her lectures and lessons but sometimes she honestly just gives off bad vibes. Like she can be mean for no reason sometimes just because someone made an honest mistake. :/. I wasn't really on her bad side either and I still felt pressure from her.
I hated this class. She is very rude to some of her students for no reason. She will do one example in class and expect you to know exactly how to do it by yourself. Her exams are extremely difficult and not based on her lectures. I'd recommended literally anyone but her.
Her tests were curated from the lectures so much so that she had the lecture # above each question on the test. She accepted feedback on her assignments and even changed or added more hints to help us understand. She really cares and still helps me even when I'm no longer her student. She also dropped a test grade so don't believe the negative reviews
Honestly not a bad chem professor, she's just a bad person in general. Sure, her tests, homework, and classwork are extremely hard, but what's really aggravating about her class was her condescending, patronizing, and sometimes blatantly rude tone of voice. If you are brave enough to ask questions, she will answer them as if you are a child.
Chemistry is a tough class, I got a 73 in high school but she made it so bearable. Her organization skills are amazing she makes a calendar for you each week and suggests an order to complete things to get the most out of it. She truly cares about her students and gives out extra credit.
everything she says is so condesending. she comes off super sweet but she has a very mean side. there's an insane amount of homework every week. a lot of the time the links for assignments she posts are wrong, and shes a pain to get a hold of outside of class. get ready to drown in chemisty and refrain from dropping it everyday.
Extremely Rude. You will not learn from her lectures but her instead intense OWL homework along with the intense Mastery section. Labs are easy. Did and understood all the homework that was assigned but when it came to the test it looked completely different. Avoid if you don't want your mental health drained.
This professor was nice up front but our class was afraid to ask questions because her demeanor was unpredictable and caused undo anxiety among students.
Very tough grader and comes off super rude. She tries to have a nice side to her, but she is very sarcastic and passive aggressive. Was not prepared for the final. She does care about your mental health though. Tests were extremely hard. Asking questions is hard because she will judge and will call on you to answer some you don't know.
just drop
Dr. Bell is a great teacher and person, her lectures are very informational and she is open to all questions, but each unit has their set of tedious OWL homework's. Labs are easy and she provides unit review exam modules to assist in reviewing for the test which help a lot, this class is made easier if you commit the time and show up to class.
Her lectures are interactive and there are lecture videos to take notes on before the actual lecture so that you get the most out of learning. Grading is strict but fair, and she gives good feedback on your work. She is very accessible outside of class, which allows you to ask her questions online when you need help. I highly recommend this class.
not only is the class already difficult, but there is an outrageous amount of owl assignments. honestly, the worst part about this course is sitting in lecture, she is rude, and condescending, and tries so hard to be funny and every time it comes out rude, no one asked questions because of fear she would just say something flat out rude in return.
Dr. Bell's teaching style is very effective and while there is a lot of homework, it helps you understand the material. Tests are not that bad if you do the practice tests, some questions even reappear on the test. There are a lot of grades and a few are dropped so even if you do mid on tests, you can save your grade. Doesn't round/curve.
Dr. Bell is a very very very good teacher. There is a lot of work in this class, but it helps you understand and digest the material very well. She can be snarky at times, but when you talk to her she is very caring. The amount of work in the class that is a free 100 can help boost grades and help you prepare for the exams.
She was better than my last chem prof and I believe she is probably the best choice when it comes to chem at Blinn. Put in effort and you will pass. Tests are only 40% of your grade. Lab reports are so easy. Not that much owl hw compared to other profs. Could've gotten a B if I would've passed a test.
Prof Bell is a good teacher as long as you pay attention. You get out of this class what you put in so if you stay on top of your assignments and study for tests you'll definitely succeed. Labs and post labs are fairly easy and graded pretty fairly.
Was overall funny and kind. There is a lot of work outside of class and in class as well, but it is all very clearly laid out and easily accessible. If you ever have a question she will very quickly respond to you on teams. Overall the class is hard, but the teacher is willing to help you.
She genuinely wants you to succeed in the class. There's a heavy workload in the class, but she provides tons of resources to help you get through it. She also provides tons of supplemental information when it comes to learning and is always open to questions (in and out of class). Take her if you want to LEARN chemistry!
Dr. Bell was a great professor overall although there was more homework than one would want it was very helpful when preparing for lecture the next day. She is very caring and wants to help you. The labs are very easy and she gives lots of extra credit just make sure you show up for class.
The class has a decent amount of work, but Dr. Bell's lectures and feedback make it worthwhile. Utilize the OWL assignments, practice tests, and study tools like unstuck ai to succeed. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding course with a helpful professor.
So much homework. It did help a little, but if you are taking a lot of classes, I would not take this class as it does have a heavy work load. Attendance is somewhat required? Still unsure, but it is heavily frowned upon by her and skipping a lecture puts you behind a bunch. She's a funny person and very sweet and provides plenty of study materials
Don't Let the 3.3 fool you! She's a compassionate teacher, people say she might come off in a wrong way when you ask for help but she wants you to put in the effort.(ask the right questions) Her class involves clear and energetic lectures with past pdfs exams that guarantee you an A! She is transparent from the start, do your work and you'll pas
I have really bad anxiety + insomnia, so I barely attended class @7:45am, but I kept up with every lecture and assignment she provided online. She is very helpful & truly wants you too succeed, there's a LOT of homework but if you do the work & go to class you will do well. I definitely could of gotten a better grade if I had actually gone to class
I have always been bad at chemistry and was really nervous to take this class at first. I ended up failing the first test because I did not study well enough but after that test I did great on every single one. She gives so many good study materials like previous exams and quizes to help practice which really relped. Ended with an A in the class!
Very nice and helpful, very friendly. Lots of homework.
