Academic elitist, who does not relate well with students. Classes are so structured and organized, that you begin to think you're being trained, not taught. Not conducive to learning, just sleeping.

Don't bother going to class, just read the textbook. She's patronizing (unintentionally, to be fair), boring, and the overheads are impossible to read anyway.

Kindness seems a little forced at times, and she doesn't relate well to students one-on-one. However, she's very smart, knows the subject material extremely well, and uses interesting examples to illustrate course material.

I went to class first semester and read the text--by 2nd semester I relied solely on the textbook's website because most of the multiple choice questions on the tests are from there.

forced niceness, underneath she is a dragon, you just have to see through it. She talks about her kids more than anything. She has a tendency to make the tests excedingly difficult if she thinks students did too well(even a B!) on the 1st one.

Had this prof before. Agree with the above comments. Smug and thinks she's something special. Only shows genuine warmth for students who also think she's something special. Knowledgeable, but does not appreciate students who also have knowledge during class discussion.

I find her course interesting and I find her a likeable person to be around. However, I do not think researchers in this field know what they are talking about and the course goes in too much detail (Dr. Bowering adressed this herself about the book, I may say) but still the detail is hard and totally unnecessary in many places

I find her nice but she puts on a bit of an act which is kind of annoying. I like the course but I hate the chapter on touch because from what Ive seen the writer doesnt know what hes talking about. They should eliminate that section entirely from the course because it is so stupid. The auditory section, however, was well covered.

Dr. Bowering is not a nice person at all. She's fake, patronizing, and self-centred. She doesn't care about her students, only about her own reputation. The only reason she ever won the teaching award is because she passes the nomination sheet around her auditorium-sized classes. I definitely do NOT recommend taking her classes if you can avoid it.

I do not enjoy her teaching methods whatsoever. She always has us in groups "discussing" bull. Also, she barely teaches throughout the year. Students are required to present each clas son a topic in the book. Essentially, the students are teaching, not her. Marking is too hard. Unclear directions.

YOu guys are crazy. I like Dr. Bowering. The only thing i didnt like was how she graded my test. that pissed me off. Other than that, shes nice, easy to chat with, and provides for a good class with interesting lectures, style, and not bad tests. Take another course with her, shes the type that you have to take a few courses wih to get the flow

Professor Bowering is completely out of touch with the relationship between in class work and exams. I read teh book, took thorough notes, attended every class and still struggled in her class. She was not at all helpful and I agree with students comments above: She is helpful only to those students whose beliefs mirror her own. She is arrogant

Makes information interesting. Uses multiple choice test examinations, which are extremely challenging. Too much grade percentage put on examinations. Overall, I have had worse professors.

Need to study lots and apply the information for diffucult multiple choice. Felt like I could never quite prepare enough. She knows her stuff and has interesting lectures. There is lots of material to learn and would not recommend doing as a distance course unless by itself. Very fussy marker on assignments, but great teacher.

Tricky class, tests require mostly application, so you really need to be solid in your definitions and concepts. If you want to play a drinking game,count the # time she refers to her PhD, you'll be in AA by semester's end. Don't expect any leniency based on compassion or illness.

I have had Dr. Bowering for 3 classes, and each has been worse than the last. She is extremely vague in her expectations for tests and assignments, and then gives you a poor grade if you didn't do exactly what she wanted. Nothing is ever good enough, and feedback is poor. One to avoid if possible.

Love her! She gives great examples to help understand the material and you can tell she loves her job. I took this course through distance and found it easier to take notes that way. There is a LOT of material - study hard and you'll do fine. Her exams were fair as she gives both multiple choice and long-answer questions.

Distance Dev: I have an A- average but got the lowest mark ever, C. Met with her & was told that was one of the higher marks: no one gets an A! Don't be fooled by her tone...she supper dumbs down her lecture and then marks you down for things not outlined in assignments. I think you have to be a mind reader to do well, & then expect only a B.

GOOD POINTS: She tried to keep classes interesting with speakers, presentations, & feedback from students, her pre-test questions were helpful in preparing for exams.... Took the distance class that was taped in 2007. Our textbook was from 2010 and it didn't match up to the classes at all. The exams didn't match either the classes or the textbook. She was also incredibly difficult to get a hold of. Took her literally weeks to answer emails even when the major assignment was due.

Took her class by distance. She was impossible to reach and took ages to reply. Tests did not match up to material in class, and questions often seemed random, even though I studied hard. Would not recommend her classes if you like your GPA.

Hard marker compared to other Psy profs. Exams definitely applied & more difficult. She uses terms that we may have just read once, or MC will give definition & answer will be 5 variations of spelling for the term. You memorize for the exam then forget it all. I retained very little of what I studied. Be prepared for your GPA to be lowered too.

This professor uses OLD videos, which are unhelpful for her midterms and understanding the info. Exams are tough, but not because the material is difficult to understand. In the videos she does not make it clear what info is important & does not explain key topics in depth. Her syllabus does not line up with what she expects of the students.

Tests are all multiple choice and some surprise questions. Goes over powerpoints a lot and does not go into detail. Reading is required to understand what is going on and doing the homework helps as well. Make sure you write down things she says that will be on the test.

I had a great time with this prof. Found her to be very helpful and understanding as long as you talked to her. She was supportive of me and offered helpful suggestions for assignments. Wrote 1 paper and 4 short quizzes, pretty easy to get along with this class. Would take another course with her for sure. Have heard not so good with distance class

Horrible prof. Not there when needed, horrible communication. not very clear when lecturing. always talks about childrenfamily. Can never really answer a question when you ask it. All of your assignments will be graded by her grad students, so she never knows how you actually did, can never answer questions about your assignments. just horrible.

If you have this prof, then good luck.. I had a very bad experience with her. She has slides but they are only a couple lines, she goes into a lot of details in the lectures. You never have enough time to copy the important things because she flips through her slides very very quickly. A tape recorder might actually do you a lot better with her.

Dr. Bowering is a great professor who really made the transition from highschool to university very easy. Going to her class was my favourite part of the day. Dr. Bowering knows how to relate to young adults coming out of highschool and does such a great job at showing how much she cares for her students. I hope I can take another class with her!

Very vague in her lectures. This is by far the worst class ive taken in my 2 years at the Mount, as well i received the lowest grades on tests than i ever have. Her test questions are confusing, and her slides are not very helpful, if you happen to miss class. Her way of teaching dosent work well with me at all. And she talk waaaaay to slow.

I liked her a lot. Some people found her tests hard, but her questions focused on applying material, not spitting back facts. That's literally the point of university. I found her lectures interesting, the slides were useful and she was approachable and easy to talk to. I loved her class! I'd recommend her if you're serious about psych.

She was never very clear in her lectures, and at times would spend an entire lecture on a small topic, and then gloss over a key concept in a few minutes. Very inconsistent, and powerpoint ate unorganized.

If you are someone who doesn't test well based on just multiple choice you won't want this prof. Lectures are boring and hard to sit through. If you need to keep a specific GPA switch out of this class, it is definitely a GPA dropper. I did the next section of PSYC with another prof and revived two letter grades higher & I enjoyed lecture way more.

Professor Bowering is extremely knowledgeable in her field and is an amazing resource but she doesn't have a good understanding of the amount of homework/reading materials that are reasonable in a first year course. The discussion posts and final exam questions were all essay style based. In my final exam I submitted (for 5 question) 2500 words.

Prof. Bowering was extremely fair in her assessments - maybe too fair. There were 4 tests (Entirely MC) and she dropped the lowest mark which is quite the accommodation to set intro students up to succeed. MC questions are set up so you must understand the material and apply it - not just memorize, which is not the purpose of education anyways.

She is an okay teacher, but her slides can be disorganized which makes them really hard to understand. Using her slides for studying are not helpful most of the time. Also, her tests are all multiple choice which is unfair because not everyone is good with multiple choice.

Elizabeth is overall an okay professor. Her question wordings are difficult in the exams so you have to fully grasp the lectures to do well on the test. Just taking notes and concentrating on the class won't help, you have to take an extra step. Lectures are kind of boring but can survive. She gave 3 bonus points for participating in a research.

She tries to make her class 1st- year -uni friendly, but as I'm a 4th year taking an intro class, I found that her lectures were a bit slow paced. Also, I found it hard concentrating sometimes because she does talk a lot

Dr. Bowering makes the transition of coming into university much easier. 3 midterms and she drops the worst one. All multiple choice. She includes learning activities that also help with the transition. As long as you complete the activities and put effort into answering the questions, you'll do very well. Read the textbook.

A good professor. Friendly, approachable, and prioritizes her students learning above all. Engages the class and provides detailed and adequate (no textbook necessary) slideshowsall of which are available online (helpful to any students that miss a lecture here and there.) She's an alright prof. Better than some psychology profs at the mount, if you're in first year I would take her, nothing wrong.. just can be boring lectures. She's friendly and sweet, but kind of a tough grader if you find psychology challenging, if not I think you'll be just fine in her class.

Dr. Elizabeth is an okay prof, her tests arent hard but you need to work in order to understand things. Id say that its very easy to drift off in her classes but if you can pay attention and understand what shes saying, you most definitely will have an A by the end of the term. I didn't enjoy this class and teacher unfortunately. Her PowerPoints don't prepare you for your tests as much as you think they would. The way she asks questions on exams are so complicated and feels like they're meant to trick you. She also gives you 45 seconds to answer each questions - was rough. She's a fair grader for papers but hard on exams
