Ms. Bowman is an excellent math teacher; She is fun and is always ready to say something funny or nice when she walks in. Not only does she teach very well, but it is always smiling and happy, and it is just great to be around her and part of her class.
Very informative, enjoyable classes. Almost made calculus fun (if that's possible).
very nice and clear. she tries to help any way she can. but her test are hard and kinda tricky.
Cal B is a hard subject but if anyone can explain it to you, she can. Her test are hard and you better know your stuff if you plan on passing her test. She gives quite a bit of homework so get ready for that too. She's pretty hot for a teacher.

Mrs. Bowman was a great professor for Cal A.
Does a great job teaching the concepts. She gives plenty of homework (15-20 probs per assignment), but in my opinion it makes the tests easier. Mrs. Bowman isn't too easy, but she doesn't make it impossible to make an A. Just be willing to work for it.
She is very helpful. She presents the material in a clear manor.
I had Ms.Bowman for Cal I. She is really nice and willing to help, but do study and do the homework. Effort is required. Even though she's married and got kids, she is pretty nice to look at! :)
Another great semester with Ms. Bowman! This class was at 8:00 in the morning and I have to say that there's not a day I didn't want to go to class. She is so extremely nice and an excellent teacher; she is always smiling and beautiful.
It was her first time teaching linear and she wasnt too sure about a few things. She isnt to hard but she gives a lot of homework and if you have a busy schedule she's not a good teacher to take but other than that she isnt bad.
She makes a lot of mistakes. She also gives a lot of homework. If you take her, go to class. As for me, I will avoid her at any cost. Too much work. And it seems she has favorites. I was not one of them.
A charming, sweet, and absolutely beautiful teacher. After Cal B, this class will seem easy as long as you PAY ATTENTION. However, with a teacher like her, that's not difficult. Be patient with her, since she'll make mistakes every once in a while. But, she makes up for it with her helpful attitude.
This class sucked.
I really hate math, but this lady is pretty funny, just being herself. Plus, as a friend mentioned, "She's a ****!" Definately try to get her, because at least she tries to work with you.
She's very funny and always willing to help you out!! Plus, she doesn't take attendance - something very rare in the Math dept at UAH
I'd like to start off by saying she is extremely hot, which makes coming to class much easier. She gives a lot of homework, but that's the best way to learn math. She's very helpful and does an absolutely wonderful job of teaching the material. I highly recommend her for any class!
Talks too fast, doesn't give you a chance to understand one thing b4 she jumps to the next. Unfair quizes and exams (too in-depth compared to what she's teaching). Will avoid this one at all costs.
Very helpful, you know what to expect on the tests, and definetly fair in grading. Recommend taking her if possible.
She's nice n' all but is a HORRABLE teacher. You will learn nothing from her that isnt listed verbatum in the book. She also give annoying amounts of homework that is REQUIERED, fortunatly her greader is to dum to know when your copying out of the soultions manual. The class is annying because you learn nothing there but are requiered to go.
She is a nice person and I enjoyed being in her class, but her class is pretty hard and she teaches at a fast clip
Great teacher, she talks a little fast but she is very good at explaining the material. Her first couple of tests were way to long but she does give a lot of partial credit.
Very charming and will help you if you ask. An adequite amout of homework, but she will not go over it in class. Great for learning how to go from top of the class in high school to a hard-working, effective student. Not really much for the more advanced classes, but really try to take her as soon as it is possible.
There are two types of calculus teachers-- the "why"'s and the "how-to"'s. Bowman is definitely a "how-to". Recommend her if you're a "how-to" learner! I am!
Mrs. Bowman is a great teacher. She assigns a lot of homework to help you learn. In her lectures, she teaches you how to do problems (goes over many examples). The only thing is her quizzes and tests are not that easy, and that is the majority of your grade. They are not too hard, but tedious and not as easy problems. Recommended as a B+ teacher.
constant use of examples. homework is a bit of a drag. tests have no surprises. very easy to look at!
I really liked Mrs. Bowman's class. She was good to inform the class on grading procedures and office hours. She was also good to tell the class what we needed to know and gave out study guides. Her tests could be a bit lengthy, but usually the questions were previously covered problems and she gave loads of partial credit.
Mrs. Bowman is probably one of the nicest women I've ever met. Her tests are similar to the homework and the homework is simply the odd problems from the book. One thing that I don't like about her is that she does go fast through a few things. She scales grades if necessary and will give you a point if you need it at the end. I recommend her.
Excellent! It was an absolute pleasure to be in her class. She explained things clearly and would go out of her way to help students!
She is the best teacher ever! She really cares about her students doing well. She makes great effort to explain problems to where everyone understands. I recommend Mrs. Bowman!
Best math teacher I've had at UAH yet. Very helpful and fair. Offers lots of bonus points on tests. Pretty hot, and even brings you cookies on test days...that's a teacher who cares.
Great teacher, I just didn't care about calculus 3. If you try you can get an A fairly easy just make sure you do homework and show up every day!!! Also, she is very attractive and just generally nice.
Simply fantastic. She teaches from the book which is sectioned into different topics. Homework is easy because she did an example problem identical in difficulty in class. Take notes. Keep up with homework to study for tests. Tests were fair and she gives loads of partial credit. By far the best professor I have had at UAH.
Pretty nice teacher. However, tests are MUCH harder than homework/quiz problems. This is a pain because the tests are the bulk of your grade. Overall though, not a bad teacher at all
She talks about her kids a lot. Her tests are hard, I never knew how much she would count off for some mistakes, but she explained very well the contents.
Excellent calculus teacher, second only to Lanita Presson. Makes every concept very clear, and her tests are fair. Do all of the homework and study reasonably, and an A is not out of reach to anyone. I couldn't get over the fact that she smiles incessantly, which is such a blessing and an encouraging aspect to the learning environment. I recommend!
By far the best math teacher that I have ever had. She is always is caring and explains everything clearly. She is very funny talking about random things, and is a HUGE Auburn fan. She is great about helping with problems, and her tests are fair, and graded nicely.
Ms. Bowman is a great teacher. She is very concerned about everyone learning the material who wants to. There are many daily grades that help you keep up with the course. I would highly recommend for any calculus course.
Explains everything clearly and gives lots of daily grades.
Don't take Bowman unless you are a) really good at algebra or b) can devote a great deal of time to working out all of the practice problems. I wish she put more effort into making the concepts clear; too many times she said "here's the function, the proof exists if you wanna look it up in the book". She'd make a good highschool teacher.
Mrs. Bowman is the best professor I've ever had. Very helpful, gives an understandable lecture, very neat grading. (and she's very pretty)
She goes through material quickly, but always makes time for questions. Also she is extremely attractive.
One of the best math teachers at UAH. If you're good at math, the class will be very easy, but you'll still learn. If math isn't your strong suit, you'll still be fine. She's incredible ditsy but it doesn't have a negative impact on the class. Basically a high school class except the teacher actually knows the material.
Mrs. Bowman is a wonderful professor and makes calculus so interesting to learn! The material is very difficult but she explains the concepts very well and is extremely fair. She is very friendly and is always available during her office hours if you need help. I am now chasing mathematics as my second major!
SHE IS AMAZING. SHE EXPLAINS EVERYTHING VERY CLEAR. She goes out of her way to help her students. She offers a lot of bonus points. She is definitely the best calculus teacher you can ever pick. Totally recommend her. She gives partial creadit and announces her quizzes and tests in advance. She is also very good looking!!! She's awesome!!!
Great teacher!
She teaches her 230-math for elementary education class like it was a cal b or c class. She does pointless work for this class like "journal entries". It does not teach you anything except how to write a lot of pointless things. I would recommend taking 230 and 231 at calhoun because she teaches both courses.
Cal C was a struggle be she was always willing to help. Better stay on top of it and not slip behind.
Dr. Bowman is a great teacher as long as you want to learn the material. Her quiz questions come from the homework and her test questions come from the chapter review. You can pass this class easily with an A if you put in the effort to do all the homework and the review. She explains everything in great detail. I would recommend her for any class.
I really enjoyed this class. She's sweet and helpful and funny, as well as an excellent teacher.
Best teacher if you need any calculus classes.
Mrs. Bowman doesn't seem to have a firm enough grasp of the material to teach it. She seldom delivers a lecture on the material but instead just copies problems from her notes onto the board. She's friendly and wants to help her students, but ultimately fails to impart any valuable knowledge. Avoid her if you actually want to learn the material.
Great teacher. Not a lot of theory, but plenty of examples in class. This was the harder of the three Calculus courses and she made it a lot easier. I am taking her again for Cal C and feel the same way. She will be happy to explain anything during her office hours and in class, you just have to ask. Also, she is an Auburn fan.
Best math teacher I have EVER had!! Extremely helpful and very sweet!! I wish I had room for another one of her classes in my schedule! Tries to make every one succeed and always makes herself available to help! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend her class to everyone!!
I failed her class. She did not accept doctors notes, athletic excuses and some people include me were not allow to make up quizzes! Attendance is mandatory since she do it for grades. Pretty strict and tough? She has great love for her family.. But was not so nice as I felt
Stop, look no more. You have found a teacher that will actually help you understand the material and cover all the material you will need. She engages your attention, visually, through use of the textbook and the board, and aurally, by explaining all that she is doing. You'll only study as much as you did in high school. (Not much, until finals.)
Talks out loud incoherently. Rushes through lessons. Must get solutions manual. Still learning new material day before final. Online homework doesn't encourage learning, only grading efficiency. I'll never understand why this school finds it purposeful to require attendance. Course lacks reference to useful application of material.
Mrs. Bowman knows her flaws and tries to improve. She definitely wants to help. Calculus II is a notoriously hard course and she did fairly well teaching it. Make sure you do your homework and go over it before quizzes. Also go to every class, you will get bonus points on your final. Just hold on.
Here's the deal. If you do her test reviews, and you comprehend each problem, you will get a straight 100 on her tests. I'm serious. She also was available in her office to help me any time I needed. She's hands down the easiest professor in the math department.
This teacher failed to prepare quality lectures, her knowledge of material was poor, and discouraged reading the book.UAH is a school that requires students to have a solid foundation in math(esp Engineer)and this was not the teacher for the job. I would never recommend this teacher to any student and will be avoiding her as a teacher in the future.
I absolutely LOVE Mrs. Bowman! She is an excellent teacher, a little ditsy, but it makes her more relate-able. She is great at explaining the material and writing steps for the more difficult concepts of Calculus A. If you love math but do not care about the reasoning behind the concepts, you'll love her! And, unfortunately, she is "hot".
Hands down best math teacher I've had. She worked every homework problem by hand and posted answers the day you turned in the work. The same with tests. She had all class material broken up with tons of "homemade" reference sheets. Still had to actually do the work, but she gave me all the tools i needed to succeed. Highly recommend.
Professor Bowman is amazing! I had her for both Cal B and Cal C. I took Cal C over the summer and couldn't have done it without her teaching skills. She makes things simple, works practical examples, and provides solutions to practice exercises and homework. Her tests and grading methods are fair, too.
She does a flipped classroom so you watch all lectures online at home. You do the homework in class the next day so you can ask her questions and work in groups if you want. All quizzes come from the homework, and tests from the practice exercises. Just work all the problems and you're set.
She did a flipped classroom teaching method, which means she posted the lectures on YouTube and we did the homework in class. This was a great idea because homework is when you have all the questions anyway. Not sure if she'll use this method again, but she's a great teacher and super respectable. Two days to take tests. Definitely take her again.
She isn't the best at communication if you don't have the book. she will refer to it often. if you go to class, do the homework (which isn't mandatory), and study, you will have not problems passing.
Bowman is a wonderful professor for any math. Although she no longer does a flipped classroom, she still has lectures and extra help posted online for anyone who needs it. I liked how her tests examined your knowledge of concepts more than long complicated problems. She grades fairly and wants students to succeed. I would recommend her to anyone.
One of the better math professors I have had. She does a good job explaining topics in a math perspective. But she doesn't give many real world (i.e. Physics) examples of applications. We had to rush through the last chapter due to snow days, but apart from the last chapter, she made sure that everyone kept up and understood everything we covered.
best math teacher I've had in college
Mrs Bowman makes calculus easy. She doesn't collect homework, but has weekly quizzes that come straight from her suggested homework assignments. Same for her tests. And she's a pretty easy grader. Her classroom presence is fantastic making class friendly and fun. Best math teacher I've ever had!
Our class was a sort of test for a "collaborative learning" environment. This meant shorter lectures followed by in-class group work. At first I was a little apprehensive about the idea, but after a couple weeks it really seemed to be working out for everyone. Mrs. Bowman is a terrific instructor and makes everything perfectly clear. Take this one!
I LOVE Mrs. Bowman. I took her MA171 (Cal A) class as a freshman, and I seriously be willing to take ALL the Cal classes at UAH if I knew that she would be my teacher. She DEFINITELY knows her stuff. She is always open for questions and the only reason that my helpfulness score is lower is because I didn't need much help. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.
Online HW. My class was 2hrs so we only had 3 tests (MWF class had 4). Presents the material clearly. Posts notes/solutions online. Can talk fast but will repeat stuff if you need her to. She gives 5pts on the final if you have 2 absences, so go to class. Gives generous partial credit and clear feedback. Gives practice tests, but still study.
Possibly the most effective teacher I've ever had. She has her teaching style perfected. She has lots of group work and wanders the class answering questions, and I guarantee you that she will find the best way to explain something. Very organized, consistent, caring, and she's pretty hilarious too.
Usually we had a lecture day followed by a collaborative in class assignment day. Her ability to explain concepts is exceptional. The in class assignments (basically ungraded quizzes) were extremely helpful as a gauge on whether or not I needed more practice and as an easy way to ask questions. She is AWESOME, she made cal B a breeze for me.
She's the BOMB
Great calculus professor. Explained concepts in an easy-to-understand manner. Generous with partial credit. Teaches with examples, so if that's how you learn math then you're good to go. If not, or if you prefer a lot of theory, maybe take someone else. Willing to answer questions and very patient. Would definitely take again.
As long as you study, participate in collaborative learning assignments, and do the homework, you'll pass. Mrs. Bowman is energetic, enthusiastic, and smart in her teaching. I genuinely enjoyed going to class.
Great teacher who didn't care if I slept in class. I would prefer sleeping in my bed, but she grades attendance :(. I already took Cal A, so it was mostly easy. Just know your derivatives and integrals. I don't like mymathlab (the hw). If you are struggling, go to PASS sessions and actually study
Nice person but not very clear at explaining. She doesnt seem to know what shes teaching very well. Makes constant mistakes which is understandable but annoying. Grades tough with little partial credit. Lecture attendance is mandatory but not very helpful.
I LOVE Mrs. Bowman. Shes my favorite teacher ever!!!
Mrs. Bowman provides all the tools you need to be successful in her class. It is a lot of work, but if you actually do the practice problems that she gives you for the test reviews, you will ace the tests because she pulls questions from those problems. I would definitely recommend Mrs. Bowman to anyone.
Mrs. Bowman is a great teacher. If you do the work you will do well in her class. She cares about students' grades and provides everything you need to pass the class.
While Elizabeth Bowman is a kind woman and an adept pedagogue, she is not a mathematician. Her weakness lies in the fact that she doesn't actually teach any mathematics. She gives methods to solve problems but when asked deeper questions she offers no answers regarding theory and presents little information not already present in the text.
Don't take this class over the summer unless you're prepared to work fast and work hard! Professor Bowman provided LOTS of extra study material online and graded fairly/clearly. The MML homework is a pain but exams are based on in-class assignments as well as practice exercises from each chapter. She is strict when it comes to attendance
Pay attention in lecture and do HW to learn material. Practice on practice exercises and especially in class questions and you'll do fine on test. She's not the best at explaining and really skips over some important theory (if you're a math major), but she is very organized and has plenty of practice examples, so you'll be fine if you do the work.
She is honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. She is dedicated to student success and will do her absolute best to make sure you understand. When put in groups, she makes sure that each group has at least one person that understands the material. She gives every opportunity to get help if you need it and earn extra credit.
Super nice person in general. Does her best to break down a very complex subject in to simple terms, so maybe not for those looking for deep understanding of theory, but you learn how to do whats needed. Keep all your In class assignments and practice tests group work, extremely helpful for studying for her tests which are fair and not too bad.
Mrs. Bowman is a great teacher and the time you put in is absolutely reflected in your grade. She is great about partial credit on tests which helps a ton. Go to all of her ICAs and practice tests and study and you'll be set for the tests. Definitely recommend her.
I had Mrs. Bowman for Cal B and Cal C; she's absolutely fantastic. She's more than willing to answer any questions that you have (inside and outside of class), and really truly wants everyone to do well in her class. Use her ICA and practice tests cause they're the key to acing the tests. She even puts smiley faces on your tests. I mean, come on.
She does a great job of teaching the material and making sure you understand the material with in class assignments. She doesn't spend a lot of time on theory, so probably not a good choice for math majors, but great if you just need to know how to do the math. Very personable and accessible outside of class.
Professor Bowman is an amazing teacher. Your grade in the class definitely reflects how much effort you put into that class. The class itself is pretty easy as long as you pay attention and not play games like me in class. The tests are fair as long as you do the ICA's and the practice tests, and there is usually a bonus question on the tests.
Mrs. Bowman is an excellent choice for a professor. I had her for Calc B and any time you had a question, she was more than willing to work with you to get to an answer. Sometimes she lectures a little quickly, but overall she is a wonderful and kind professor.
A great professor for Cal C. Her test were exactly what she taught and gives great partial credit
She really knows her stuff and wants her students to understand. She speaks and writes quickly but records every lecture so if you miss something, you can watch the lecture again online.
She made me enjoy math again. She cares about your understanding and ability to solve problems and WILL HELP YOU GET THERE. If you're good at calculus already she is an easy choice. If you struggle, she will help you back on your feet again. Her class was enjoyable and I have come out with a much better understanding of topics covered.
Bowman is an amazing professor, she is caring and understand, and wants to help students as much as she can to understand the material. If you show up, take notes, or even watch the Panopto videos, you should be able to get through it, but she is also available and very eager to help outside of class too.
I was looking forward to taking her for Cal B. I heard so many great things but that was far from the truth. Her tests are horrible. She grades like it is a 300 or 400 level class. She gives little to no partial credit. She is not very understanding if you have to miss class. It takes her forever to respond to emails. Don't take her!
Mrs. Bowman is the best teacher I've ever had. Her class is insanely organized and from day one you have the full schedule for the semester along with all resources for the semester (notes, review sheets, practice tests, etc.) in Canvas. She gives good partial credit and is overall very lenient. Records all lectures so you can miss class if needed.
Her class was pretty easy and straightforward. She's very good at explaining things in a way that makes sense and doesn't make you feel dumb. Easy to pass if you're doing the work, and she's available for help if you need it. Definitely would recommend taking advantage of the free math tutoring that UAH offers!
She's a sweetheart! Course material was easy for the most part, but she takes the extra time and effort to make sure everyone gets it and no one is lost. I love her and would highly recommend to everyone
Shes a fine teacher. I took online calculus which I expected to be difficult, however she makes it so much harder than it needs to be.1st, you need to show your hands+face on lockdown during tests and its a task to arrange your camera. also, very picky on submissions ex. Send pics of work credit doesnt give you credit if you send out of order
If you have her for the hybrid courses just be aware that you are better off studying the mathlab material instead of her lectures or notes because she no longer makes the tests which where supposed to be great except this time she didnt and the one she gets offline are far harder than the questions she would make.
Mrs. Bowman was great to have for Cal C, although I think her class suffered by being held online, as the lectures were pre-recorded and posted to Panopto. In-class, all we had were quizzes (which were really only for participation) and ICAs. Tons of partial credit on tests. Tons. Love her for that especially.
Elizabeth Bowman taught well, was available during office hours, gave partial credit for all tests, and a lot of homework. The homework is a lot, it helps with the test and the answers are on the assignment to check if you are right (she will take off points if you just right the answer down without the work).
Her lectures were insightful, very prepared, admitted when she was wrong (gave bonus points if you found errors in her recorded lectures). Complete opposite of another prof I had. Her tests were slightly harder than hw and quizzes. She didn't expect you to remember little obscure things from years ago. She helped me just barely pass. (my own fault)
Had her for Cal C, she was able to teach far better than most of my previous lectures. Even though I made a B+, I felt like I learned something in her class. The homework and ICA were fundamental to learning the material, being able to practice was amazing.
Great Professor
She is great at explaining and giving opportunities to learn the material from lecture, group work, home work, and practice tests. I'm not doing good because I suck at math but she is great! Does give partial credit on tests and no supersizes on the tests as long as you study the group work material
I am taking Calculus C with Professor Bowman and I highly recommend. She is very nice and is willing to help you with anything you need. There are roughly 10-14 problems on the exams and you have to solve the problems like you would on homework. There is no multiple choice. You have to put in the effort to do good in her class.
Professor Bowman was great! She didn't try to kill students with homework and she offered bonus points if they discovered errors in her lectures (notes and speaking). Very kind, thoughtful, and (best of all) a great teacher.
This class was very straightforward. Assignments mostly are split into collaborative work, homework, and tests. The collaborative work was always helpful unlike my experience in other classes. Homework can build up quickly. Tests are worth a huge chunk of your grade. Tests never had any curve balls and examples were always seen in class or canvas.
She is so sweet and knows what she's doing. I actually signed up for the section because of another professor but she replaced that professor at the last minute. We did breakout rooms to help each other with class problems and she would come into the chat room to help. Exams were easy if you could do the class examples and homework. Solid choice.
Bowman is a great teacher and her lectures work wonders. Don't buy the book for this course, you don't need her. Her lectures cover everything, and they're really understandable. Just watch them and practice. No lockdown browser or anything.
She was good, I enjoyed her more than my CalA professor. People always say that CalB is the hardest of the Cals, but she made it fairly understandable.
She was a pretty good professor. The lectures were sometimes confusing and the workload for this class got heavy at times, but she graded the exams fairly and was very helpful. Sadly, she's retiring after this semester because of health issues.
Great Cal C professor. She taught my class all the way up to a month before she passed. He passing is a huge loss to the university and all of her students.
She was overall a great professor. In my opinion, she was the best Math professor at UAH.
