She is a great professor. Gives good feedback and is willing to help. Test are kind of hard but she curves the grade. It was an easy A for me. Not sure why other students complain, I think she is an awesome professor.

Tax is a difficult subject, but she explains it in an easy to understand way. She is always willing to help students and answer questions.

Professor Catlin (also goes by Lyon) is a great professor. She is new to CSUS. She's funny and caring. Attendance isn't taken per say but if you miss a pop quiz you lose those points and you'll need them. If you're not a good test taker make sure you get full credit on everything else to even out your grade. I took the full period to do her tests.

Professor Lyons is one of the best professors that I have had. Her lectures are interesting and I really enjoy the examples that she gives. I appreciate how she makes time to help her students during office hours and she makes learning enjoyable. Her exams are doable if you keep up with the homework and lectures. She is passionate about her job.

Good class

Overall, there was three exams, two projects, and eight chapters of homework in total. She is detail oriented in which careful attention should be placed when she goes over the PowerPoint for better understanding. The lectures at time can be dull, if you're into tax or not. There's no tricks on the exam as it comes down to your understanding.

If you take her class, you have to show up to class to understand the material. She is a great lecturer and makes Tax very easy to understand. If you miss class, the PowerPoints will not help. 2 parts to a Tax Project, an easy Tax Research Assignment and 3 Exams. I highly recommend taking this professor.

I absolutely loved her and her teaching style. She gives tons of examples in class and goes over how to do every single one of them. She makes tax seem fun and easy to do. I want to go into tax now because of her. There are 3 exams and if you review the homework assignments you'll ace the exams. Theres also 2 tax form projects and a research paper.

The material is not easy, but she will spend the time to work with you until you understand it. Participate during lectures and do the homework as they help a lot to prepare you for the exam.

For 2018-2025 there is a new tax code and even the teacher had to learn some new material but she the way she taught it you would have never guessed. 3 exams all manageable. 10 or so homework quiz. simple tax return project. Book is NOT needed. PPT slides and lectures is MORE than enough for anyone to get an A in the course. EXCELLENT PROFESSOR!

Lyon for ACCY 171 is a solid choice. I used her lecture slides to do the homework and exam review. We had a group tax project, but it wasn't too bad. I didn't use the book too much for the class. I realized that her exam questions are similar to the homework. She's a good option for those who are finance majors too.

Lyon is a great professor for 171. She lectures on the modules each class and the homework/exams are directly related to her slides. The exams could be challenging, but you need to study the HW before taking them. We had a group tax project near the end. She is funny and very smart. She wants you to participate, so raise your hand once in a while.

Her exams are hard, but she offers extra credit for the first two exams. She wants you to do well in her class. She is one of the best professors I've had in over five years at Sac State.

Amazing professor. Best choice for 171 and 172. I took her over a 6 week summer course and she was great. Explained material over and over until every single student understood everything. Hw's are super easy, Exams a little challenging, but this is an Undergrad Accounting Major course, so best expect challenging exams. Overall, recommend 10/10.

Midterm - Fair. 17 Q in 75 min. Final - Hell. 25 Q in 75 min. Grade: LoL Pros: Good, recorded lectures. Cons: Hard to apply right away for hw.

I thought the instructor was great and the class was overall easy. Just do the problem sets by yourself, attend the Zoom session to go over the problem set and have her explain anything you missed, and then you will be good for the quizzes and exams. One 6-8 page paper, but you can choose to do it in a group or individually and it isn't that hard.

She does a great job explaining tax and making it interesting. I wish I could take her ACCY 172 class in spring, but it filled up right away because so many students want to take her.

I have enjoyed this class not like a lot of other ACCY classes where you are overwhelmed with homework. The class is very test heavy and in person but she does allow you to bring notes in which is really helpful. The only down side for me is that she takes down the lecture videos after the module is over and won't even let us keep the slides.

I was scared to take tax 2 cuz tax 1 was hard. Lyon explains the concepts well and the problems she goes over in the lecture videos and during class really prepared me for the midterm. I recommend this class if you can get in. It fills up very fast and now I know why.

I've learned so much in acct 171. It is not an easy class. The class is spent practicing problems so you need to do the reading before class and be prepared or you will be lost. The problems prepare you well for the tests. I tried to register for acct172 but it is already full.

Took Lyon for 171 and 172. Great professor. 172 was even better than 171. I like the hybrid format and lots of chances to ask questions about the problems. 172 only has two exams but I wish it had more like 171.

Easy A if you do the problem sets and pay attention in class

Elizabeth is a great professor. The way she teaches is weird at first but it quickly makes sense why she makes the students attempt the problems first before going over them in class. Textbook is not required at all since everything is in her lectures. Drops 1 Exam including final and drops 3 quizzes out of a total 12. Awesome class and easy.

Prof. Lyon is no joke. She knows tax. Do the readings and problem sets before class and go to class. You will learn a lot in this class if you do. If you don't do that you won't pass. I passed REG thanks to Prof. Lyon.

The teacher herself is good, as she is very knowledgeable when it comes to tax. The course structure, however, is very difficult. The lectures, homework assignments, and quizzes are all slightly different, so it becomes very difficult to succeed if you don't fully understand the tax concepts. The actual workload itself is very minimal.

She is a no nonsense efficient professor. She is to the point and teaches the material you need to know and doesnt waste your time with lots of busy work. If you need help, ask questions or go to office hours. Dont take this class if you dont want to put in the time and work to learn taxes. But if you do want to learn she is great.

She makes this class an easy A. Just show up to every class, take good notes on the concepts and example problems she goes over. Those end up being the ones you see on the homework. The exams have no surprises, problems are just like the homework and lecture problems. It's really hard to actually fail this class.

Hybrid class. you need to watch lecture videos for hybrid days and then in class she reviews from lectures and you work through problems. Straight forward class and she makes it much easier to understand then the textbook.

Professor Lyon is one of my favorite professors. I was in her 171 and 172 classes. The material covered in class is a great introduction to individual and corporate tax. She allows handwritten notes on exams and provides practice questions. My advice is to take great notes, save all lecture material, and do problems repeatedly for an A :)

Easy course. The professor gives unlimited attempts on homework and you can rewatch the lectures over and over if needed. She even gave us the chance to redo quizzes and correct the first exam. i am enjoying the material in this class and i am learning a lot.

im taking 5 other classes and work and this professor still expects me to show up to class for 75 minutes every single week and also to do like one or too hours of hw every week. they also do not let you cheet on tests and turn you into conduct office if you cheet

I can't believe she expects us to watch lecture videos outside of class in a hybrid class. Like she wants us to teach ourselves by watching lectures and then doing practice problems. I don't do it and fail exams because I didn't teach myself. We have to work with numbers and do calculations in a tax class. MC is a much better way to learn tax.

prof gives chance to fix exams for EC and 2 chances on quizzes and exams but dont cheat. Discord is funny students complaining they cheated and failed but she warned she would if you cheat. Attendance is a must and there are lecture videos for one day/week so you can rewatch lecture to study for exam and you do have to answer questions in class

the textbook is hard but her lectures clear it up also we have time for questions each class and she doesn't rush through student questions and checks to make sure you understand before moving on. we have an assignment almost every class to practice some more. if you get paired up with a student that didn't do their hw then that is hard.

She is the worst if you want to just get an A and not learn anything. She makes you watch lecture videos for the hybrid day and the problem sets have unlimited attempts so you can redo them forever. I hate that she made me actually learn the material to pass the class. Don't take her unless you want to learn.

She is the smartest, most educated accounting prof I had at CSUS. Knows a lot about tax and explains it well. Super responsive and helpful with grading feedback. I really enjoyed the excel project from the class. One of the few MSA profs that actually put effort into teaching and helping students learn.
