Prof. Dowdy knows her language. Most classes you spend talking to your partner using the vocab you are learning, very helpful. You also have to be able to work hard on your own. She has always been nice and very helpful.

You ppl are NUTS! This is 1 of the best teachers I've ever had in a college course. She was very compassionate, professional and helpful. She was approachable, funny and, genuinely a nice person.

Shes a very good teacher, but she is kind of annoying, she makes you participate a lot in class. if you follow her notes though it is fairly easy. She does not assign home work.

She's awesome--totally passionate about her subject, and ready and willing to help struggling students figure out what they can do to bring up their grade. CRAZY in class, one class I never could fall asleep in. Dowdy is my favorite professor at MCC so far.

Overall nice professor. Be prepared to have perfect attendence in both class and lab or u will pay in the end!!! There are 4 test 2 are easy and midterm and final are hard b/c there are 4pts reading, writing, speaking, and listening!!! And NO I still CAN'T SPEAK SPANISH!!!!!!!

Best teacher I ever had. Strict on rules and attendance, its good though, it keeps you focused. Teaching methods really work so long as you do as she asks. Ended up with an A in both classes, and continued with spanish, although the other spanish teachers never compared. Fluent in Spanish now, and she has always encouraged me. She is very helpful!

Great Teacher! Very visual. Strict attendance policy but you won't want to miss a class. Very helpful (switched out of James Dowdy). Cultural assignment is not difficult - you can cook instead of writing a paper!

I took Dr. Dowdy based on a recommendation from someone else who had previously taken her. I was not disappointed. Although it is true that her policies are strict, she is also fair. Everything is laid out very clearly at the first class so you know exactly what is expected of you. She tells you precisely what will be on tests....no surprises!

She makes you work hard, but it pays off in the end. She is a really great teacher. If you want an easy a, then she isn't for you, but if you're willing to do the work then you are going to be fine.

She wasn't as bad as so many people have made her out to be. I was expecting this total ruthless dictator, but she was funny (LOVES Antonio Banderas & can be kooky @ times), was very clear in what she expected you to study & has review sheets that cover what to expect on her tests. I took her husband for SPN 1120 & I'd say both Dowdy's are great.

Wow... I really don't know why people are giving her bad ratings. She is SUCH a good teacher, and VERY entertaining! Just come to class, and actually STUDY (wow imaging studying in COLLEGE)! Anyone who gave her a bad rating probabaly did becuase they actually had to work. If you want to succeed in life, take her. (And if you want a laugh in class)

She is a great teacher and anyone who says differntly is mad because you actually have to attend and work in her class. She is strict and her attendance policy sucks but I learned so much from her and she is actually pretty funny. I would reccomend her to anyone who actually wants to learn and doesn't mind working hard to do so.

ms dowdy is one of my favorite spanish teachers. she made class fun and i learned alot....but i must say she does have a little bit of an attitude.just be sure to show up to class on time bc she'll put on blast....but i recommend her i got an A in her class.

She is a great teacher (i have over 90 credit hours). If you show up and pay attention and do the work required, there is no reason why you can not pass with a high grade. Her policies are standard and fair and are at a level that should be expected of a comitted college student.

I really enjoyed Dra. Dowdy's class! She is so nice and funny! She is extremely helpful and so eager to help her students learn. I would definately recommend her to anyone!

How does she get any negative feedback? Brilliant professor, extremely passionate, kind and humorous. Selfish? Arrogant??? No way. She treated everyone equally and fairly, and all of us who were in class at the end of the semester loved her. She is strict on attendance - however, you get 4 free absences, and if that's not enough, quit college. ;)

Dr. Dowdy was amazing! She really cares about her students. Cheerful, funny, smart and I found her stories interesting. Excellent professor. Remember, we are in college. I don't understand some of the negative ratings.

I took Dra. Dowdy for SPN1120 and 1121, and passed both with an A. She is a great teacher and shows a lot of energy. Her attendance policy is strict, but she allows 4 absenses. She knows what she is talking about, and makes the class pretty entertaining for an hour. Lots of oral work. (But it's a language class!)

Dr. Dowdy is an awesome spanish teacher. I was scared that I would fail this class, but I am doing great! She is crazy and makes you laugh. She takes to her students like real people & let's you know she is real and has made her share of mistake. She does talk about religion alot, which I don't like, but she doesn't try to push religion on you.

I do not understand the negative comments about her. As long as students come to class prepared, do assignments, and apply themselves, they won't have a problem.

Taking her on-line class. She has been very helpful to me, even with numerous computer problems. Even told me to call her at home if I had any trouble accessing a test. I don't understand why there are all the negative comments, but I don't see her face to face.

Im taking her right now & love her. This is the first spanish class I've taken & I don't find it to be hard at all. If there is anything you don't understand she is happy to explain it to you until you get it. Reviews are the same as the tests and she gives you answers for reviews in class how much easier can it be?? definately taking her again!!

Dr.Elizabeth Dowdy is an extremely devoted and passionate teacher. She tries to develop a personal connection with each and everyone of her students. She is very helpful...just ask. She will be sorely missed by her students when she retires.
