I think she is one of the best professors I've had in a while. She makes a boring subject as entertaining as it can be. All work goes toward final research paper, pretty easy. Take her!!

If you don't pass her class, its because you just didn't show up at all. I took her online and she is more that willing to work with you on extra credit, exam technical difficulty, and assignment explanations. She is very motivating in her announcement postings and encourages you not to give up or slack off. Deadlines pop up quickly, so be ready.

Im so glad I took methods with Gilmore. She didn't bog us down with tons of lithe assignments. There is one main paper that she grades in little stages, so that your final paper has basically been proof read throughout the semester. She also gave reviews for the midterm and final (but they DONT cover it all, so study). Super fast email response

She has a very quirky attitude, I wish I could take her for more CJ classes! Work consisted of 1 research paper (split into 3 diff assignments), and midterm & final which are pretty easy if you study (she gives reviews & powerpoints). I highly recommend her :)

Professor Gilmore is an awesome professor. She makes you think in a way that you haven't before and helps you understand things by giving examples. Her lectures are very laid back as well as the two tests (midterm and final) as well as the research paper. DO YOUR DISCUSSIONS!!!!!!!! Discussions are worth almost half of your entire grade!!!

Took Professor Gilmore for Sex Crimes. Probably my favorite class I have ever taken. She knows so much about this topic. Her lectures are amazing, she is so entertaining and downright funny. Also, she cares so much about her students, she knows everyone's names and makes herself available. This professor loves her job and she's great at it!

Took her for online Victimology. She had 7 discussion boards that were weighted heavily (don't miss them), a midterm, final, and a paper. Even though it was online, I really felt like I was "in class" because she sent out announcements and interacted a lot, which btw were hilarious and fun. Tried to take her again, all classes full. Sign up early!

Took her online for sex crimes. Discussion boards and paper were weighted heavy, but very interesting. She is very student orientated and replies to emails very quickly. Went to register for her classes for the spring, and they were all full, so I guess the secret is out, she's awesome. Take her, she rocks.

Online victimology. Two exams, seven discussion boards, and a big paper. She gives reviews for the exams, the discussion boards are interesting, and she will grade a draft of your paper. She is willing to meet with you or take a phone call whenever help is needed. I really enjoyed her class, went to register for another and they were all full.

Sex crimes online class. Super interesting links and discussion boards. Gives reviews for midterm and final. Big paper at the end. Always responded to all my emails. I loved the wealth of real world information this Professor brought to the class. She worked with sex abuse victims previously. Taking her again in the Spring.

Hybrid Sex Crimes at Northwest campus. By far the best professor out there. Two exams, a big paper, and 7 discussion boards. She gives reviews for exams. I loved this class and learned so much, and I'm not even a CJ major. Professor Gilmore knows so much about this subject. Take her.

This was an online sex crimes class.I learned more in this class than I have in all my other semesters. Most of the tests come straight from the slides and she gives reviews. I recommend reading all the links, even though they aren't usually on the tests because they are super interesting. Responds to e-mails very quickly and is very caring.

Senior Seminar Online. This class was really hard and had lots of writing. At one point i was failing the assignments (writing intensive course). I emailed Professor Gilmore and she spent over an hour on the phone with me explaining how to find articles and how to cite etc. She was kind, never talked down to me, and encouraging. A gem!

Criminal Investigations. Had previously taken this professor online and I enjoyed her class, but she is even better in a face to face. Class is graded heavy on tests, so you have to study, take notes, and show up, but she does give reviews for each exam. Professor worked in a morgue and has crime scene training, which makes class even better.

One of the best professors I've ever had. She has passion for what she teaches and makes her classes very easy to follow. I recommend her to anyone with a passion for Criminal Justice.

If you want to learn about criminal investigations take this class. Professor Gilmore actually went to school for crime scene investigation, and worked in the field. The class is centered around different topics of physical evidence collection and preservation. She even has our class dusting for prints at the end of the semester.

Love Prof. Gilmore. I've had her for 3 classes so far. I'm a senior at uhd and let me tell you, one of the best cj professors at UHD, if not the BEST. (You can quote me on that). She's extremely helpful, and knowledgeable. Her classes fills up really quick, so don't procrastinate. . I have nothing else to say. JUST TAKE HER... Trust me.

I took Professor Gilmore for Criminal Investigations hybrid class. She's nice, funny, and caring. We had six exams including the final and we dusted for fingerprints on the last day of class which was fun. I will take her for sex crimes, juvenile justice system, and senior seminar next semester. Sign up early her classes fill up fast.

One of the best courses I've taken I enjoyed this course mostly because it was based on tests alone, it was simple and straight to the point. The professor was very caring and you can tell she has a true passion for what she teaches, she gave opportunity of extra credit and she also gives us study guides to help with the exams. Criminal Investigations hyrbid. Mostly exams (with a fingerprint practical) for grading. She is laid back if you walk in late, but I recommend being on time because lectures are amazing and really help you ace the tests. Professor has worked in crime scene before, making this the most interesting class I have taken. Taking her again.

Mrs. Gilmore is one of the best teachers at UHD. I took her for criminal Investigation and she loves all her students. She is willing to help any student if they want the help all you must do is ask. If you haven't took her take her you'll love her!

Took this professor for online Senior Seminar. Course had weekly discussion boards or weekly reflections. You need to know how to find articles and use APA correctly!!! No tests in this course, only writing assignments. Topics were interesting. Professor was really good about responding to emails and giving good feedback. Take her.

Took her for 2 of my classes this semester, made an A in both. Best professor, she's hilarious, and really cares for her students and unlike other professors i have taken, she understands the struggles of being a student. Gives good feedback and breaks down assignments in terms of what she wants and how to get it done.

great professor! took criminal investigations and loved it. she checks in weekly. answers all questions quickly. assignments are easy enough. all around great professor.

Professor Gilmore is wonderful, if you pay attention to lectures and do all the assignments and study for your exams you'll do great in her class. She gives great feedback if you need it. Also give you exam reviews before the exam. Her lectures aren't boring.. they are really engaging!

Senior Seminar online class. Class had no exams, but a different writing assignment every week. You have to really know how to find articles and cite in APA format (I had never done either before). I got a C because I failed first few assignments, but I emailed Professor and she was very willing to explain everything. She actually cares. Take her!

Death Investigation Course at the Northwest Campus. I loved this class. You will learn so much!! if you see this class available, jump on it. 4 Reflective Journals, Mid-term and Final. Study the powerpoints and you will pass. To me, it was an Easy A. I've taken 3 classes with Professor Gilmore and loved them all. Sign up Quick!

Death investigations special topics.I drove all the way to the Spring branch because I knew this class would be amazing and I was not disappointed. Typical of assignments given by Gilmore and the tests had reviews. Was harder than expected because there was a lot of terminology,but I still loved it. Best elective I've taken so far super interesting

Online summer Criminal Investigations. Five exams each covering a few chapters, except the last exam - only on death investigating. Two reflection writing assignments. Professor had each week full of links where you could see all the crime scene techniques being used in real life. I loved this class. Mrs. Gilmore knows a lot about this topic. Love!

Criminal Investigations hybrid class. Five unit exams (nothing comprehensive) and two reflective writings. Reviews were given for the exams, they cover about half of the material, so study. This was my favorite CJ class ever. I learned so much. Proff. Gilmore actually has a degree in crime scene and brings a lot to the classroom. Lectures are fun!

Criminal Investigations hybrid. Five reflections and allexams online witha review. I was sad I didnt take this professor before my last semester, bc this was my favorite class ever. Professor G knows so much about this topic and isvery approachable. Side note, I've graduated and she emailed me this semester to check on me after Harvey. She's great!

Online sex crimes. My favorite class ever and my first time taking this professor. The second part of the semester is related to investigating sex crimes, which i have found to be interesting (interviewing suspects and victims, collecting evidence etc). Midterm and final exam(she gives reviews) and weekly writing assignments on interesting topics.

Professor Gilmore is literally the coolest. She motivates me to come to class! When class gets cancelled I literally talk mess about her in my head for a little bit and then I cant wait to go back. She is invested and knowledgeable about the justice system. No need for book, she is the book!

This is my second time taking her and I do not regret it. Very interesting coursework, she gives you everything you need to pass, just do you work and you'll be fine. Very simple and interesting, you have discussions and journals.

Criminal Investigations face to face. This class had unit exams, a final, and several journals. Work is not super easy but I learned so much. Professor G worked in forensics before and she knows so much and can apply the real life scenarios. We had activities too. She is very approachable and genuine. By far my favorite CJ professor.

One word to describe her, "AMAZING". If you take her classes and fail or get a low grade other than an A, you have issues. This professor is incredible when it comes to teaching. No matter how bad you might think it is, she will be there to guide you and make sure one understand. Don't hesitate to take her.

really great online professor. She is a little slow on grading, but not the worst i have had. she is willing to give extensions on assignments so long as you show effort. highly recommend her.

Criminal Investigations online. Professor had to work through issues with Harvey and blackboard constantly going down. She was very flexible with students which was great. Class itself was amazing - basically a crime scene course. There were reflection writings and unit exams with a cumulative final. She gave reviews. Loved her class. Take her!!!!!

Just take her. I've had Professor Gilmore for several classes and she is by far the best professor I have ever had. She's super smart and engaging and assignments and extremely interesting. She's also very fair. Just take her, you won't regret it.

As someone who works in the criminal justice field, I have the utmost respect for Professor Gilmore. She brings a real world knowledge base to the classroom. She's so smart, yet never talks down to students or makes them feel out of place. Her assignments are interesting and tests are fair. I adore Professor Gilmore, she's amazing.

Stats hybrid class. I feel like I hit the lotto getting Prof Gilmore for this class. By far, the hardest class I have ever taken in the CJ program. Three exams, three SPSS assignments, and the SPSS is weighted more than the exams, so there is an opportunity to pull up your grade. She was very fair and met with me several times outside of class.

All the other reviews explain it all. Professor Gilmore is the best. She's smart, kind, and all about her students. By far the most caring and most fair professor I have ever had in all my years of college. She's just amazing.

CJ Stats. Super tough class, three exams (my highest grade was a 72) and three SPSS assignments. I made a B because the SPSS assignments count as more than the exams. Professor Gilmore was fair, helpful, and provided several opportunities for extra credit. She also really understands stats and wants her students to "get it" too. Highly recommend

I took her for two classes this semester, Investigations and Stats. Investigations was fully in person and Stats was a hybrid. She made the work not only EXTREMELY easy to understand with her in-depth lectures, but she also made sure the classes remained light and fun. She was extremely understanding about personal and technical issues. TAKE HER!!!

Child Abuse and Neglect. This class was amazing! We had 6 reflection journals, a final exam, and a poster session. The poster session was great, we made a poster and presented our topic at the Commerce Building which was definitely one of the coolest things I have done as student. Professor Gilmore knows a ton about this subject too and she's great

Senior Seminar online. No exams, writing heavy. Prof. Gilmore made us read different articles each week about a different CJ topic and typically write a reflective journal. You must know how to find articles and cite in APA in order to pass the class. Professor G was great as always, class was interesting, and she is very accessible.

Child abuse & neglect. I just happened to take this class bc it fit my schedule, and had never taken Prof Gilmore before. I am so glad I took this class, I feel like I learned more in this class than I have in any other class! Lectures are amazing! We had six writing journals, a poster, and a final. I'm taking all her classes from now on. TAKE HER

Internship class. Professor Gilmore spent hours with me finding me a great internship and helped me with all the paperwork. Class itself was mostly discussion boards and very straightforward. I'm very glad I got this experience, and have now been offered a job because of it. She's a real gem.

One of the most passionate professors I have taken. Cares about her students and the CJ profession. Very involved and wants her students to succeed. If you are having trouble, all you have to do is ask and she is there to help. Great professor!

Child Abuse and Neglect. Professor Gilmore knows SO SO much about this topic. Her lectures were engaging and I learned a ton. We got to do a professional research poster session which was so amazing. Six reflective journals and a final. Be warned, some of the content is upsetting, but it's a child abuse class, so expect it. She's great!

Child abuse class summer 3. Weekly journals and APA article assignments. One big final. Professor Gilmore gives the best lectures I have ever listened to. Class goes by so quickly. She's smart and funny, and I have learned so much. Went to sign up for her for fall, all of her classes are full. Total bummer. She needs more classes.

Child abuse. By far the best CJ class I have taken, this professor is an expert on this. 4 journals, 4 finding sources assignments, and 1 final (summer). Lectures contained tons of material for people who may chose this a career. Note: Gilmore makes up her own slides and doesn't follow the textbook like most do, so you may not want to buy the book.

First time taking professor Gilmore, by far the class I learned the most in. Lectures are really engaging, she can answer any question student ask, and she presents all sides of child abuse. We had one final, four reflections which were mostly on videos, and four finding sources. Would absolutely take her again.

Child abuse. We had to write four reflection journals and four source searches. There was one big final. The material was sometimes upsetting and even though Professor Gilmore would warn us, be prepared for upsetting content. I wish I would have taken this professor sooner, would have loved to have had more classes with her. She is an expert!

Death Investigations at NW. Let me start by saying I loved this class so much and wish I had waited to take it in the full semester. One reflection journal each week,midterm and final. Content may be upsetting to some people (gorey). Professor worked doing autopsies and knows the field. Science is part of the class. Loved it!

Senior Seminar hybrid. We had to read multiple articles each week and come to class prepared to discuss the content. 10 reflective writing journals throughout the semester. Questions about the content submitted each week. No exams. I loved this class, and the lectures were phenomenal. Topics were sometimes controversial, and Gilmore was amazing!

Child Abuse and Neglect Summer 3. Weekly writing assignments, weekly scholarly searches, and a final. Gilmore is far and away the best in this topic. She is definitely an expert and brings so much to the class. Her lectures were so engaging. I want to work with child victims and I am so grateful for what I learned in this class. TAKE HER!

Senior Seminar online. Every week there was writing, either a reflection or a discussion board, on a different topic. Professor was more than fair, and even gave the class a chance to rewrite an assignment that most of us did poorly on. Really enjoy the content covered and that there were no exams. Professor was good at replying to emails.

Field Training Class. In other words, the opportunity for you to do an internship. As an internship coordinator, she finds the opening where you will grow. I love Dr. Gilmore. She's is caring and for the most part, understands that we are all trying to reach a goal. Like any other professor, she expects that you do work hard the grade

Took her for Senior Seminar online, Death Investigations, and Crime Scene Investigation. Was an amazing professor. She is ALWAYS there to help. Has a great sense of humor. I totally recommend her for classes.

Was so lucky to get Dr. Gilmore for Freshmen Seminar. The class was about study skills, organization, school policy, stuff like that. Seems boring, but she made it great! Learned a bunch about criminal justice jobs, anddifferent classes offered in the program. Can't wait to take her again!

First time taking her for a course - online Senior Seminar. You will write and turn in an assignment every week - but she keeps it fun and interesting related to criminal justice. NO EXAMS AND NO TEXTBOOK TO BUY which was great for me. She really helped me improve my writing. My only complaint is that her classes fill SO FAST. She needs more!

May Mini Sex Crimes. Great set up, all we needed was up and available. Test reviews were provided, as were slides. Grading was fast and professor was very responsive. Would absolutely take her again, especially in a mini.

Child abuse and neglect summer three. Professor is an expert in the content, having worked in this field with children before. Outside course assignments involved watching videos and documentaries. The course had a midterm and final, as well as four writing assignments. Lectures were very engaging and current to emerging issues in criminal justice.

Criminal Investigations. It's a crime scene course. We got to dust for prints, roll prints, and even classify prints. I love her class - wish I had taken her sooner.

Ms. Gilmore was a great teacher (I have taken 3 of her classes I think). She is very enthusiastic, and you can tell she loves to teach. Just put your effort into the class, and you will get a great grade.

I really enjoyed this Sex Crimes class. Professor Gilmore gave good feedback. She even offered extra credit. There were discussions, reflection journals, midterm and final. She always kept the class up to date and reminded us when assignments were due. As long as you do the work you will pass. The work was not very hard.

Child Abuse COurse taken in Summer Three. Two heavy and intensive writing assignments. Lots of reading - be prepared to come to class and discuss all the links in Blackboard, because it is a major component of your grade. Attendance is MANDATORY, or you will not pass. This class was amazing, I learned so much. TAKE HER!

While Dr. Gilmore made it clear the content is tough, be advised the content in this class is the real deal, stomach turning, really upsetting stuff. Weekly discussion boards (you need Netflix), reflective journals, quizes, and self care check ins (yup you need them). I loved every second of this class and left inspired.

Best criminal justice elective I have taken. You learn about all different types of Investigations (so accidents, suicides, natural) and even how remains are autopsied. Learned so much and was glad as a current CJ professional to have this knowledge. Professor was great at getting back and answering questions. Would take her again and again.

I have never been around such an smart professor. Dr. G. knows everything there is to know about Death Investigations, I work in homicide, I was shocked at how much I learned. Dr. G. makes all her slides and lets you have them. Exams are online. She is also incredibly down to earth and clearly loves her students. Would take her again in a heartbeat

Child abuse course that had service learning. It was unfair that our community partner had delays ok our background check, but Dr. Gilmore helped us and made sure we got through. I learned a lot and felt that the modifications were more than fair to everyone. Really liked the lecture on how to interview children with forensic techniques

I took Dr. Gilmore for CJ 4370, Senior Seminar. I was highly impressed with how well she taught a five-week course. The content was professional and explorative. Highly recommend for any of her courses.

Dr. Gilmore's classes are well-planned, and organized, in content necessary for criminal justice professional development. Dr. Gilmore stays involved in the University, hosting many public events for the student class to meet and interact other professionals around Houston. Recommended for any of her courses as they are taught exceptionally well.

I took Dr. Gilmore for three courses- Senior Seminar, and Field Research Experience (1 and 2). This is my third review. Of course, my opinions as stated - an exceptional educator and involves students in the community. Sometimes her overwork shows...sometimes a little late. Take this with a grain of salt because she offers opportunity for all.

Please take this class with Dr. Gilmore! She is AWESOME and passionate about what she does. The tests are HARD! if you study, you'll be ok. she offers study guides. lockdown browser + webcam required. She wants you to succeed!!! also took us to the body farm in college station.
