lots of reading, test are hard, lectures are long, but not borning, extra readings suck, but not a bad or overly hard class
This teacher is sooooooooooo boring...gives facts about history that do not matter....goes into way too much detail....she should just give you the general jist but she doesn't. There is so much reading it is ridiculous. Hard tests impossible A
This class is crazy there is soo much reading atleast a chapter a night. Then she talks forever and there are atleast 5 pages of notes a day. Only two big tests but unfair grader! She will cahnge with suggestions. I hate this class!!
she goes on forever, its awefully boring. gives you pop quizzes, and has a really strange grading scale....
i kinda find her interesting...i dont understand her grading policy, but if ur looking for a history class that is not ALL about wars and is more about the people in American History- i really dontthink its so bad...
Boring class, not too hard, weird grading system. Pop quizzes every once in a while, but easy enough to boost grade, she drops the lowest! Gives nice study guides for mid term and final...not too bad
I think she is kind of interresting. Presents a different take on History. Not the usual boring highschool textbook stuff. I kind of enjoy this class. Tough grader though.
Professor Gray is one of the nicest people on the planet. I love history now that I have learned it from someone who makes it interesting.
The class is really boring, with tons of notes. Her grading scale is weird and she gives a lot of reading, but overall it's not a really hard class. She gives good midterm study guides. If you don't mind reading, and a few pop quizzes, then it's ok.
pretty good class,
Take this class, lots of fun. Nicest lady ever!
She is a nice lady but I have never seen a tougher grader in my life.
she cant grade worth anything. I heard she is easy for other classes just not hist145. Not only that she thinks a 76 is above average. only take her class if you like reading a million pages per night of a text book, documents and three books.
Hard grader! You take a lot of notes in class anf are expected to know everything. Only has two tests and one paper.
Really HARD Grader!! A lot of reading..Reading from Textbook, documents, and on top of that 3 books...Only have a mid-term and a final..She gives pop quizzes..One paper near the end of the semester..Never lets you out early..My advice: DO NOT TAKE HER!!
Good professor. Makes you think. Helps you learn.
Towson is lucky to have her as a professor. She doesn't hand out good grades and wants you to do well by really putting in the effort. Try to get involved in class discussion and your grade will improve.
LIBERAL PROPAGANDA, if you like the military aspects of history dont bother, she teaches the world wars like they were skirmishes in my backyard, the class is based entirely on social issues, she puts a liberal spin on the entire class
Do the readings, she gives eazy pop quizes, you need to show up,very eazy to do good, 2 very short papers, very nice, good presentation.
She's cool and willing to help if you ask her. She is very nice and she doesn't push any of her views on her students. She's not a tough grader at all. I think I bull crapped a lot of quizzes and got A's. I didn't even read two out of the three books.
Very good teacher if you pay attention, dont buy the books they are a waste-honestly dont even read them...take good notes and walk out with at least a B
great teacher, explains things well, two papers, two tests, and a lot of pop quizzes, she makes history interesting and you want to learn. Take the class if you want to learn more.
Very nice lady, and willing to help. Do the work and no reason why you cant get an A or a B!
nice lady. takes attendence. hard grader but if you pay attention, takes notes and study its a very easy B.
Class is about foreign policy from 1900-present. Lots of reading, a several short papers, but absolutly ZERO exams. Always willing to sit down and chat. Highly recommend her for HIST 369 or HIST 484
US Foreign Policy.Great teacher! She is very knowlegable and interesting. wasnt interested at all, but became my favorite class. No tests, 5 2pg reaction pprs,One 4pg ppr as midterm not too hard.lots of discussion required and online posting before every class over reading-MUST DO She uses all texts
She is a decent teacher, she is clear on what she wants, gives pop quizzes, but you can figure out when the'll be, but she can be a tough grader, esp on papers and the midterm. You take a ton of notes-almost 2 notebooks for 1 semester and they are so unnecessary. She likes the class to participate.
She's a nice professor and the class is fairly easy... Nothing to stress out over. But you do takes tons of notes (most info doesn't get used!), read a document or two, skim the textbook for an answer, and take pop quizzes. Participate in lecture! She seems to jot down your name for credit...

Great class! would take her again in a heartbeat. she really knows her stuff and wants you to do well in her class. TAKE HER!!!!!
READ THE CHAPTERS!!!!! It is sooo much harder to go back and read them to prepare for the midterm and final!
I found her to be pompous, condescending, and after reading the comments by my fellow students EXTREMELY over-rated. Her notes are simply to stroke her own ego about being able to use the computer system, Powerpoint and display her dissertation on this subject. I love History, and hate this class.
Yes, she's easy. Yes, she's nice. But as some one else on here said, if you are interested in the military aspect of the US's involvement in the wars, forget it. (She covered WWI in half a 50 minute class!) Overly picky about writing assigments. Pretty lame.
Geesh.. some people are way too harsh on Dr. Gray. She is very approachable. She knows her stuff - and if she doesn't she will look it up for you! She gives a study guide with a lot of info - including the choices for the essays. Take her as long as you don't plan on just sitting there.
Great teacher. Her 2 exams are easy and the 4 papers are not too bad. Although she does not return papers in a timely fashion. So you really do not know how well you are doing into way past the mid term. All in all she is a wonderful teacher and I will defenitely take her again next semester! :)
Dr. Gray is an great teacher. She is very helpful. You have a midterm and a final, Two, 2 page papers, pop quizzes, and small writting assignments. She gives you a study guide for the tests. There is a lot of information but you learn alot. You should definetly take her.
Love her upper level classes! a must take, essay tests if any at all, 2 page reaction papers that aren't too bad (4-5) took her last semester too and came back for more. Take her class!!!
Very good class!Professor gray is the nicest person every. She is very helpful and willing to work with you.Alot of notes but she gives study guides for the midterm and final that tells you what is gunna be on it. 2 papers and short assignments.Highly recommended.
not a super hard class but you have to be interested in the topic...would take her again keep up with internet postings and speak in class and you should do well...final paper is on movie!
Very good teacher and interesting topics discussed. 4 papers to write on each war and an additional paper to write on an outside reading source that u choose the very first day of class. Dont expect to get these papers back into the day you take the final!! Midterm and final were both rather easy due to the study guide she gave out. Attendance!!
I loved this class. Retained everything she taught, didn't really read and got an A. Go to class and speak up, post on the board every now and then, and go over study sheet before test and you'll do fine. Easy A and you will actually learn. I would def. take her again!
As long as you pay attention and listen to what is going on its a pretty easy class...I hate history adn have never done well in it but I learned a lot from her...just make sure you go over the study sheet!
I HATE HISTORY, but her class was a breeze. A lot of note taking, nothing open book, but her lectures are memorable (she uses PowerPoint), I got a B on the midterm and final with out studying.
Lots of reading and discussion. Take home essays for midterm and final with choice of topics put it on the student to pass or fail.
alot of reading, writing and DISCUSSION! 5 reaction papers and a book report. Takes 4ever 2 return anything she grades! nice lady though...will help if u need it! midterm and final
Very easy class... teacher does power point and textbooks. Make sure you read the text and you should be ok. She does give pop quizes so beware.
Nice teacher! Uses power point almost every class period. has a few speakers come in. Keep up w/ the reading as well as blackboard. Dont procrastinate. 5 reaction papers but you can choose which ones you want. Two exams. not bad if you study. gives review sheet Loves class participation
Good teacher. Use's powerpoint everyday. Daily readings with weekly pop quizes. Midterm and final are easy. Two book reports, but you can use sparknotes.
Great Teacher. Very interesting and overall easy if you put some effort into it and do the readings. Beautiful Person!!! :-) Go Dr. Gray!!
She's a very interesting lady. Her classes are fun and she's very nice. Grading is pretty easy, you just need to show up to class for attendance and to get the notes (she uses powerpoint). There's two tests and two papers and she does give popquizzes! There's some reading to do, but she makes class very interesting. Overall, she was great!
yea so its not a lil reading its a**** load of reading, n she expects u to read all of it. you only have 2 big tests but pop quizzies suck and the papers are horrible. shes a boring teacher and she takes attendance everyday! easy teacher in the long run but b expected to do all her work
Lectures were okay, not fascinating, but decent.
Lectures were super organized and easy to follow. Gave all possible ID's for exams. Buy the textbook, but don't bother buying the other books, just get them from the library. Super helpful and friendly, but can be a bit anal during tests, prowling the room looking for cheaters. 2 page papers sound easy, but she is an overly picky grader
Great Class!! Very helpful, gives great lecture notes (all on powerpoint) I have not read any of the book, the textbook is online so just look it up. The other books are ok. The pop quizes are not hard just look for the answers before hand. Midterm and Final are not bad, she gives great study guides. I highly recomend the class!
Such a nice lady! she is willing to help everyone and everyone. there are three books you have to read...the first is the worst...then they get better, but reading them is...optional. One midterm and one Final. A bunch of pop quizes, but as long as you glance over the homework, youre good to go.
Dr. Gray is an amazing teacher. Very helpful and very kind. Had her for both 145 and 146 and will take her for 300. Teaching comes from many souces: lecture notes, textbook and about 3 novels. She has a midterm, final, two short papers and pop quizzes. Remember, THIS IS COLLEGE! U MUST READ AND WRITE TO PASS! Shes reasonable when you consider that!
Wonderful professor, very friendly, understanding, knowledgeable, and open minded. Class is almost always full powerpoint, so just bring a laptop or notebook and copy the main points. Tests were easy, gives a prep sheet with the exact topics and questions. Two papers, both 2 pages, simple. Really nice and not boring to listen to or talk to.
She is a great professor. She's very understandin and will give extensions on papers. She does give "pop" quizzes worth 10 points but they are super easy and based on readings. Plus, she gives you the quiz question the day before.
I really liked Dr. Gray. Only 2 short papers, 2 exams, and pop quiz's once a week based on the reading. Her class should be called slavery prior to the civil war though. That was all we talked about. 2 days on the Revolutionary War and 8 weeks on slavery. She give a great study guide for exams. I would recommend taking her for this course.
Good teacher. One twenty page paper for the final grade, which you work on the entire semester. Grades midterm generously. Have to post comments on nights reading before each class. Very helpful, and highly recommend.
I took her for 145 and 146, as well as 300 later. i made her my adviser after the first class. very nice and helpful. tests are easy, they are just IDs that are given before hand and you only have to answer some of the ones on the test. i hardly study and got b+ and A.also pop quizes but study the questions given beforehand and its easy. take her
first let me say I HATE WRITING, and you need to write a 20 page paper for this class. that being said, i loved it, learned alot, imporved my writing and got an A in this class. plus the paper is only worth 20 percent and the rest is prety easy. the midterm is real easy if you just go to class and she offers extra credit, just like her other classes
Professor Gray is one of my favorite professors- really nice and helpful!2 short papers, mid term and final (with study guides that make them REALLY easy) she does require attendance though and gives pop quizes once a week, w/ the question beforehand. could be a little boring if you don't like history though. EASY gen-ed!
very straightforward, easy, and relatively interesting class. just show up, do a little reading and its an easy A.
Two Easy 2 Page Papers. Easy Mid-Term. Easy Final. Show Up to Class (You Get 3 Unexcused Absences). Pop Quiz Once a Week-Question on BB. Very Nice Lady :)
Very pleasant and lovely person. Enjoyed seeing her.
very knowledgeable and easy to understand. what she emphasized in class was on the test. always readily available to help any troubled student
seems ok, but gives a lot of pop quizzes so you have to read... I just got a 6 and 5/8 on my last one. yeah, i know right
reading previous reviews made me choose to take her class, and let me say i regret it. she rambles on for the entire 50 minutes of class, but she uses powerpoint which is helpful.frequent pop quizzes and entirely open-ended tests.there is so much reading required for this class,if you don't enjoy history i would opt for a different professor
Good teacher, always available to help. Just gotta pay attention and not wait till the last minute to do stuff. Plus, she was super hot. Really bummed I'm not taking another class with her this semester.
I have mixed feelings. Lots of reading & pop quizzes. 2 essays -2 pages long. Study guides for the midterm & final. Gave our class the chance to rewrite our 1st paper & extra credit. On the negative side- if you dont rewrite paper to her standards -10pts! Gives unclear feedback 6 5/8! If you take her focus on significance of events. Says UM a lot!
Uses powerpoint but pretty much only as an outline. She is very helpful and nice though the lectures can be boring. Have 2 papers to do for the whole year and shes very lenient. You only really need the book for the occasional pop quizzes. She gives you the prep questions/quiz questions for each reading too. Definitely recomend
Everyone says that you need the book. I bought it opened it a few times and did well on the quizzes but then realized I could just google the answers which worked just as well. Shes very nice and very helpful. gives you study guides for both midterm and final and have pop quizzes which I did badly on a bunch and still got an A for the class
She seems to know everything about the subject and will answer all of your questions. There are random quizzes. They are easy if you do the readings. She also offers extra credit. She takes attendance each class so you do need to be there.
Very good professor. Does give quizzes but only to tests and two two-page essays. Just do the readings and you should do fine. I would recommend taking her.
She is a great teacher! She is extremely nice and helpful :) She is a hard grader, but she allows rewrites on some of her papers. I would recommend taking her class.
Extremely nice teacher. Grades writing assignments pretty hard, but she does it to help improve your writing. Read what she assigns for each class because she gives written pop quizzes that are the same as the homework questions, so if you read you'll be fine. Ten page paper due at the end of the semester, but in general the class isn't too hard.
Let it be known from the highest mountain to the stormiest seas! I LOVE YOU ELIZABETH KELLY GRAY!!!! She is one of my favorite teachers, so nice, interesting, funny, and HOT!!! I'm not sure how anyone finds her difficult to take, she only wants to improve your writing. TAKE HER, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!
Nice prof. Readings almost every class with a pop quiz now and then but they are the homework questions so its easy. She grades papers harsh...but very helpful and I learned a lot from her! One short paper and she allows a re-write and a ten page paper due at the end of the semester with a 10-15 minute presentation. Overall it's an ok class!
Do yourself a favor and just don't take her
I loved Dr. Gray! She was very nice and helpful. She grades papers harshly but gives u a chance to rewrite some of them. Her topicsreadings were interesting and I enjoyed discussing them. The pop quizzes aren't bad. U know the question beforehand. Some readings were long tho. There's a 20 pg paper at the end scary but if i can do it anyone can.
Very clear about what she wants from you, which is helpful because she is not the easiest grader out there. Her TSEM Is interesting and engaging, and I would reccomend it if you want to learn more about drug history and policy. It's more fun than you think.
She gives pop quizzes. She is a VERY tough grader but she allows rewrites on some assignments. However, she provides detailed and helpful feedback on what you should improve on. You're allowed 2 unexcused absences and after that she lowers your grade. She allows extra credit also. I got an A on the rough draft and final paper but she gave me a B-.
Dr. Gray is awesome! I was pretty nervous for the class, considering I've never written a research paper before. But Dr. Gray is as helpful as she can be, she gives great feedback and as many "hints" as possible. I would suggest buying the books, they aren't expensive at all. She's also very organized, which makes the class easier to follow.
Professor Gray is one of my favorite professors at Towson. There is literally nothing she wouldn't do for her students and she really does want everyone to do well. She like the least intimidating human ever but she is a tough grader but only to help you actually learn
Dr. Gray was a great prof for tsem. She is very clear about what she wants and gives you feedback throughout your project. Readings she gives you (not textbooks) are very interesting. Worth the read. I learned a lot of information about drugs and drug policy. Also liked being able to express and hear other opinions about policies. Great class.
Truly love this professor. She is always quick to respond to emails, she is so helpful. The most helpful professor ever. TAKE HER! She gives pop quizzes but they are super easy if you read the books. There are only 2 books that you need to get. Super interesting drug topics and she makes the class super fun and it makes people want to participate!
Professor Gray was really nice but we did get a TON of readings. The subject was very interesting though and she seemed like she knew a lot about it. Everytime we did an essay she met with us outside of class which was super helpful. Answers emails very fast . Sometimes she's hard to understand when she talks other than that she's fine, easy class.
Dr. Gray is the best!!! She comes to class everyday with energy and wants to see everybody succeed. Participation really matters in this class. There are pop quizzes but they are LITERALLY the exact same questions off blackboard for the assigned readings. She is the most approachable person. Id love to her take her again.
Do the readings every day because those pop quiz grades can make a huge difference, and she will give quite a few. She provides the questions in advance though as guiding questions for the readings. Paper will be easy to do well on because you will have one on one editing meeting with her.
Very helpful and wants you to succeed. There is only one big paper due at the end of the semester with a presentation. She is helpful in guiding you along the whole way though. Recommend if writing isnt your thing because she is helpful. There are mandatory readings each week with occasional pop quizzes but the questions are posted online.
Great Teacher. Can miss class but beware of pop quizzes from night before. Two Papers, Pop Quizzes , No Final
Dr. Gray is a great professor! She is honestly so sweet and her TSEM class was super interesting. It's a lot of reading (you will need the assigned book) for short quizzes, but it's usually pretty interesting material. There's a final 10 pg. paper and presentation but you get to choose your topic. Dr Gray is very helpful through the entire process.
Very many pop quizzes, but if you go to class regularly, you should be fine.
Professor Gray is by far one of the best professors ive had during my first semester at Towson. She DOES give pop quizzes, but you know exactly what the questions are because shell post reading questions on Blackboard. Youll easily get an A as long as you do the readings (which do not take long), and write a decent paper
Professor Gray amazing! Readings are short and pop quizzes are an easy A. There are 2 pretty big writing assignments but she breaks them up and requires students to have a meeting with her where she gives feedback allowing you to only get an A. Lectures are very interesting and you can tell Professor Gray really cares.
Don't take if not interested in history, and be prepared to write a 20-page final paper. She is big on participation and pop quizzes are common. Assigned readings can sometimes be really long. Grade is determined by many things, but grading criteria is very unclear and she grades harshly (but provides some feedback). Lecture-heavy. No extra credit.
I really enjoyed her class. There are random pop quizzes. Her area of History is 19th century American, which I find interesting. The point of History 300 is the 20 page paper. She does a good job at supplying feedback, and there is a gradual process getting this paper completed. I feel that she has made me a better writer.
She is a bit strict, but a good choice for TSEM. She is very helpful with papers and for the pop quizzes, they are based on homework, so if you do the reading for the homework, the pop quizzes will be easy. She is very responsive, will answer emails quickly, and has a lot of openings for office hours. Lectures are very clear and informative.
The most caring and involved professor Ive ever had. The main piece of work for the course is an 18 page paper, but Prof. Gray helps you unconditionally through every step of the way. Daily lectures are really interesting and there are occasional pop quizzes.
Dr. Gray is one of the nicest professors. She makes sure to get back to you as soon as she can. When having individual meetings or if you have something come up, she is flexible and understanding if you need to reschedule. The main portion of credit is an 8-page paper, but she helps you along the way in putting it together. Take her!!
This is one of the best professors i've had. Coursework not hard at all. Need to show up in order to gain participation. Great person in general , if you get her, you're lucky.
Professor Gray was the sweetest professor ive ever had. She was very helpful and always helped with papers to get all points you can.
I love Dr. Gray! She's really sweet and intelligent. She provides all the weekly readings, which are short. There's some quizzes, but easy if you read what's assigned. Large paper as the final but she works with the class throughout the semester on it. Recommend if you like history and research.
Gives lectures about things you will never be tested on. Your grade is basically based on your 10 page paper at the end of the semester and your participation in class.
Dr. Gray is a wonderful and very understanding prof! She is always there to help! gives lectures which you're never even tested on but there are some short 2 question quizzes. she grades generously and there were multiple extra credit opportunities. downside is you have to participate at least once every class for your grade.
TAKE HER CLASS ! Shes extremely kind, always gives feedback on your work, no exams, but you do have multiple quizzes (usually 2 questions about readings, very easy to do well), she grades very generously
Love her! She is fantastic and made TSEM enjoyable. She is accessible and really cares about your overall wellbeing and how you are doing in the class. The class is made up of a few assignments but mainly the cumulative large paper you work on throughout the semester!
I loved professor Gray! She was so caring and wanted everyone to do well. There are pop quizzes and a final 10 page paper. Just put in effort and participate in class.
History 300 is a class where you will write an 18-page paper, but Dr. Gray will always be there for all of her students. The course is very well organized. There will be short readings for each class and may or may not be a quiz. So, make sure you show up. She is a very nice professor and is always available if you will need help.
This was one of my favorite classes I've ever taken and I wish I had taken it earlier in my college career. Prof. Gray is excellent, intelligent, kept things interesting, and I learned a lot about both historical events and writing history papers. Highly recommend her for HIST 300.
Dr. Gray is an unbelievable professor. She genuinely cares about her students and the material is very easy. The pop quizzes are easy to predict (she gives them out about once a week) and the questions are given the night before and they relate to a simple 1-2 page article. Overall an amazing professor and person.
Topic was the U.S. Constitution... boring to begin with but overall very easy class. Would recommend if you want an easy TSEM.
One of Towson's best professors! If you need to take upper level course I highly advise you take them with her. She is very caring and understanding of students and is always available to help students. She gives amazing feedback throughout the semester.
Kindest Prof. ever. She is always willing to help you and make sure that you're on the best direction FOR YOU. She has went out of her way so many times to help me. I would take this class 10 more times. Pop quizzes on readings every 1-2 weeks but you know the questions before hand and she gives you hits in the beginning when they're going to be.
Very very nice, participation matter and it graded. There are weekly quizzes, but you will know the answers and questions ahead of time, so just make sure you read and participate and you'll be fine. TAKE HER it's a easy credit.
