Online class- if you like writing, this is your class. It was fun, interesting, and easy. The teacher is very fair and provides a great deal of specific feedback to ensure impovement and how to earn an "A" in her class.
Very easy online class. You have one assignment due every Sunday, which are like a paragraph or two long. You don't have to get a book either which is always a plus.
Easiest "class" I have ever taken! She doesn't even read over assignments just gives you full credit as long as you submit it by the deadline! I didn't even do my work and I still got an A just because I turned in a link!
Her online class is GREAT! You have an assignment due every sunday at midnight. This class is basically researching a particlur culture or person, getting information and answering all the questions she gives you, which are standard every time. She's also very good with giving feedback, comments, and letting you know how to get an A in the class!
A very interesting class and teacher. Liz is very helpful and understanding. The class material is interesting and rotate every three weeks so you always know exactly what is due. Grading is very fair, but I wish she would post grades in a more timely fashion so that students can make adjustments for next assignments.
Elizabeth was such an easy going teacher. Even though this was an online class, her responses to my assignments were so positive and helpful. She doesn't expect a lot from you. Just read the stories and do your summaries, and the final essay, which was incredibly easy. And she grades well too. If you need a pre-req for Humanities, take Liz!
this class is easy just read the book and answer questions that are standard each time. i like the fact that its online. however she is such a flake when it comes to grading. she takes forever.
this class is easy. if you dont mind never knowing your grade! she is extremly lazy when it comes to grading. she still hasnt given grades for like week 10 and the web site is now unavailable. in my opinion online classes should give you grades before the site closes. take if you like feeling like you dont exist
Really Easy... I put forth no effort and got an A... I emailed her for 6 weeks of class for a question and she never answered. I even tried after class was over, and she never respond and still hasn't. Easy class just dont ask questions
Intdis 4 easy online, make a web page once a week, grades aren't posted as they should be, would be nice to get feedback before the next assignment so improvements could be made, guess she is busy doing something else. Final should be open now but isn't, weird, ......
Cares about what we learn, wants us to think using Freire ideas. I loved that I could use my final essay for college letter. Gave great advice on how to write this essay. She was nice even though I asked a lot of questions.
Her entire online class was poorly designed, consisting of instructions to google various subjects and post what you find on a website. I learned more about html and I didn't learn a single thing from her. Feedback is late in coming, or nonexistent, and she grades you down for things she didn't specify. Easy class, no text books, but disappointing.
Interesting assignments and great about calling me back. I called her a few times on the phone this semester and she always call me back (it was my first online class). She is so patient!
human 7 online great class to be in. all about california, very interactive with all of the other students. she kicks ass as well. very helpful and can get a hold of when needed
She's friendly and helpful. I learned a lot about California and freire. Thank you, Liz !
interesting way of teaching, great subject, i learned a lot
I am majoring in this program and really enjoyed her style of teaching.
Very very very easy class, i think i missed a whole 1/4 of a point in the whole class. She is very unorganized though and doesnt give good individual feedback. A frustrating online class, but one of the top 3 easiest class in my life.
I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT THIS TEACHER FOR AN ONLINE CLASS AND SHE DOES NOT EMAIL ME BACK OR CALL, I HAVE USED THE EMAIL AND PHONE NUMBER LISTED ON HER PROFILE. I HAVE HAD TO DROP THE CLASS DUE TO DEADLINES FOR DROPPING WITHOUT AN "W" SHE IS NOT THE KIND OF TEACHER THAT SHOULD BE TEACHING, SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HER STUDENTS ACADEMICS.
Getting class work from the internet was cool. I like the assignments!
We use a blogging website so we can see everyone's work. This was great! Thanks for calling me back when I had questions!
She never e-mails you back and never reads your e-mails in the first place. This class is super easy and yet hard to call it a college class at all. The final mentions quesitons to things that she never covered. The information was good - teacher was easy - just don't try and contact her
For a online class this teacher never emails you back. I have sent her over 10 emails over the semester with different questions and I think she has only responded to 1. Also she is always behind on her grading. Makes it hard when you are unsure if you are completing an assigment correctly. The class was easy and informational.
Enjoyed the online class so very much. Used blogs and lots of online research. Went in with very little interest. Finished with much more
Liz teaches a great concept and through online research projects, makes the class very interesting. Took the class as a requirement, but enjoyed it very much Liz did email back when I needed her to
really like her online content, and it took some getting used to, but liked her blog that she had you start for the class. however, absolutely terrible at getting back to you. i had trouble setting up the blog and had to figure it out for myself. 3.27 GPA student and had to go to the dean to get my grade.do not take her.
she NEVER responds. I have emailed her so many times and she never writes back, no wonder she only teaches online. How annoying. She never gave me the correct point totals and said I missed the timeline which is by midnight and that was complete BS. EASY A but aggravating teacher.
I enjoyed this online class. The projects we did were fun and simple. However, she seems unorganized and not prepared. She grades your assignments weeks after you submit them. There are many technical errors with this online class. Overall, the class was simple and fun, no textbook, and you make a blog which is cool. I recommend this class!
i took this class online, DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. she is highly unorganized, never gets back to students on time and it seems like the entire class is run by YOU. Feels like I could take this class without a teacher. Horrible at getting grades back on time, sometimes over a month. Hard to contact, easy A thought.
Ms. Guerrini teaches a great class. Learned a great deal. The only complaint was the time it takes to get grades back. Great class other than that. Take this class it was fun and interesting too.
NOT recommended! Unless you like a very unorganized, late in grading, rarely answers emails if ever and gives no specific feedback to assist you. She is also stuck on teaching about Freire for both her INTDIS4 class and HUMAN7, he is great Brazilian educator, but I imagine there are more out there to learn about. If you value your sanity, BEWARE!
Do not take this teacher's online class if you care about earning an A. LiZ Guerrini is very scatter-brained. Her web page is not organized. Worse yet, she grades extreamly slow and leaves no feedback, therefore, there is no way to improve before the next assignment is due. Her grading is inconsistant even if your work is the same quality each week
Ms. Guerrini is scattered and unhelpful. Grades assignments VERY late, doesn't provide individual feedback, has a goofy and non-standard homework submit site that doesn't work right or calculate right, she assigned a video to watch that had a broken link that she didn't fix until the night before assignment was due! COMPLETELY inflexible. AVOID!!
First of all I must say that she is unorganized and does not help you at all. The class is easy, but the website is hard to navagate. She will not respond to any emails. The class is run by you. The final was barely on anything we learned. Easy class
I LOVED this class. I think it is great that we can see each others work and that we learned about cultures i didnt know about before.
I recommend fewer readings. she had us read quite a bit with a lot of work but I got an A.
This was one of my favorite classes this year. It's different because we turn in work that we all get to see then she posts the lecture based on what we turned in. I think she wants to see what we think first then she gives the lecture. I learned so much!
This teacher is horrible. The work load is more writing and reading that I have done in english 1a/1b/ and philosophy 3 COMBINED! She does not respond to any questions,is 4 weeks behind grading the material, & just promotes her deaf son and the hispanic culture. This class was a complete waste of time!! Run away from her!!! And I got an A. Terrible!
We learned about California and American cultures. We explored stereotypes and contributions of many groups of people. I never thought of these things before but I learned quite a bit from this class.
My favorite assignment was an essay about My California. She read my draft 3 different times. So helpful. Thanks!
I liked this class because you can tell she likes teaching it. The books and YouTube videos made it do interesting.
I learned so much from this class but it is a lot of reading in a summer semester. I would probably take it in a spring or fall semester because 6 weeks makes it harder otherwise I loved this class.
This was a great class, especially for online! Imagine a GE course that encourages you to watch videos and research the web...this is it. She assigns the right amount of work, uses an intuitive web site, and was very responsive in questions and timely grading.
I like the things we read this semester. It was a completely different topic than her intdis class which I loved. I recommend both classes especially if you're trying to do GE requirements online.
What an absolutely dreadful online course. Cites wikipedia, and loads of youtube clips. I could do that on my own time, thanks. Easy, easy course. Want to learn something about Latin American culture? Go directly there and skip this shallow, uninformative class.
We read 100 Years of Solitude, Love in the Time of Cholera, pedogogy of the oppressed and saw films we rented. She recommended netflix for the movies. It was the first time I heard about the books we read and the films we watched. I was surprised how much I liked it.
My aunt has cp and is in a wheelchair so it was so great to see a class that taught us about contributions from all people. We are all diverse and we all connect. I loved this class.
A great class on things I didn't know before and can totally use out of class, too.
This class will make you laugh and cry. I learned about humanities in a new way. Keep the tissue handy during some of the films.
We read Paulo Freire's work, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and watched foregn films about latin america. I don't think I would of done this on my own so it was good to take a class since it's interesting information.
This instructor has created a curriculum that allows students to write one sentence answers to complex issues. She has dumbed down the content. On top of that she did not respond to work submitted for seven weeks! I hated this class even though I am so interested in the content.
Easiest class I've taken at the JC. If you want to actually learn about stuff, wouldn't recommend but if you need an easy A transferable class, this is the one. I took it online, coursework was easy, exams weren't timed (I'd just look up the answers) and I pulled off an easy A. She's really nice too, was totally a hassle-free class.
This was a very nicely layed out class. She uses Moodle which is great since the CIS classes use this and I'm a CIS major.
Thank you for teaching about Deaf culture, deafness, blindness, accessibility along with accomplishments by these people who outperform 'typical' people. I enjoyed learning about the works of Homer, Helen Keller, Richard Pimentel. This class is very inspiring. Thanks again.
I took both intdis4 and human7 online this summer so that I could finish up and graduate. The prof set up weekly phone calls for me to help me understand the films and books better since I need extra help. She was also good about sharing her experiences with these areas. I came out with a better understanding of how to look at art, film, music
This teacher does not respond to e-mails, does not answer questions that have been asked of her and uses quizzes that ask questions about the previous semester without any attempt to fix it. Quizzes also feature things that are not mentioned in "class." Very unclear about assignments. Only 4 wks in and I know she's the worst teacher I've ever had.
I scheduled an appointment for every week this semester to make sure I stay on track and understand the assignments since I have had a traumatic brain injury from my motorcycle accident. She has been so helpful and I like the way she organized the class. She has also always emailed me back everytime I sent her an email.
I feel like I learned nothing from the class. Two paragraphs of notes for the entire semester, she uses wikipedia for most everything else. We watched a lot of movies and answered the same questions about them all. Very difficult to get ahold of, didn't answer my emails.
my email was going to her spam folder so once i called her and gave her a different email it stopped going there. i had a yahoo email. i liked this class a lot and she was easy to get a hold of with phone, text and email (once mine was fixed)
Online class frustrating due to lack of instructor participation and online availability. Class assignments are rather vague at times. I enjoy watching the films and reading the texts, which are great tools for learning the material. However the lack of instruction is disappointing for me.
First this is an online class, it's pretty easy. The BAD thing is she is very unorganized. She will NOT allow you to do your homework early and she has not even changed the dates from last semester so you CANNOT even do your homework when you planned it because its still closed from last semester. :/
This class starts off philosophical and it's interesting, Each week is good and the class gets better and better each week. I am now a fan of Temple Grandin thanks to this class.
I'm lovin the format of this class! We watch films about people with disabilities. We talk about these on a forum and do realted assignments. I'm learning so much!
I have to admit I was not a fan of this class when it started since the first month is all theory. But once we started applying the theories to class real stuff I changed my opinion about the class. I recommend it.
I like the class and the professor. She's been teaching this class while also battling breast cancer. It's hard not to be inspired.
the class is very informative. I enjoyed all the reading and the way the material is presented it was really easy for meto understand what the professor is teachig.
The beginning of the class is boring because you are just learning theory. After that it gets more fun because you watch movies and such and apply the theories. The moodle website is easy to navigate and use as well. I would recommend it.
This class has opened my eyes by seeing and learning so much about disabilities, criticisms, theories, there's love sadness courage so many feelings. I need online classes and moodle made the website so organized and the teacher was clear on what she wanted.
I thought this class was boring for the first few weeks but we watch a lot of movies and the activities the teacher has us complete are eye opening and interesting, I would recommend this online class for fun or definitely for GE requirements.
This class has become one of my favorites. I have gotten more out of this class than ever thought possible. The subjects that we have discussed have been very interesting and you see things from a different perspective. Would recommend this class.
I took this class online and it was very easy. The reading was interesting and very easy to follow. As long as you do your work you will most likely get an A. Only to exams all semester mid-term and final. Take GOOD notes if you want to pass the exams.
I'm taking this class now and after a month I am passionate about the topics we are learning that I had no idea existed before this class. The format is easy to follow and she her feedback on each student which we see is impressive! Thank you, Mrs Guerrini!
I took this class online not knowing what to expect, I really wish I would have been in a classroom setting because the conversation would have been very interesting. I really loved the content of what we studied and am very glad that I took Elizabeth's class. She is very good at getting back to you in a timely manner and has good responses.
The films and books she chose for this class are ones I'd recommend to anyone outside this class. She should teach all the nursing students.
I am just finishing up this online class now. It has been really helpful and easy. The topics are really interesting and I would recommend this class to anyone. Some of the things she does are unclear but easy enough to figure out. You do need the books she assigns!
alawyas helpful
Inspiring class.
The reading was hard at first but she gave us lots of examples so that it made more sense. I really liked the book by the end and I loved the second book even better.
some of the books and films and lectures made me cry. I never knew of these stories or thheories. great information.
Can't believe she just went through cancer and still taught this class. She showed meaningful films and readings. A fair amount of tests and writing. I think this class was great.
The participatioion is online through moodle so you have to participate every week which means there's reading, writing and participation every week but it's interesting and I like that I can see what everyone else is thinking. She loves neuroscience so there's a lot of this through stories.
I just got my midterm grade and I aced it! I wished I took this class for a grade instead of creditno credit. She makes the things that are hard to understand in the reading easy to understand because she uses lots of real life examples. The rest of the class has the same structure so I think I'll ace the class even though it won't show.
I never took an online class before, but I'm glad I did. Mrs. Guerrini requires a lot of reading and writing, critical thinking and analysis. This course is definitely worth taking but you have to have the time to commit to the assignments. It is a fairly easy class if you do what is expected, and everything is clearly laid out weeks in advanced.
You will learn what humanities means. I almost dropped this class for an other Human course. I'm glad I couldn't get into the other course. The class uses a variety of teaching tools ( Films, Books, Lectures, Music, and Videos ). I would take a class from Liz Guerrini again
I had a rough start to the semester due to some personal issues. The instructor worked with me to get caught up, and she was very easy to communicate with any questions or concerns. Great class and I highly recommended this teacher, she's awesome! Class books were affordable.
She gets back to you when you text her and gives good feedback in the texts and on the assignments. I like how she made the class feel like everyone participates and matters. It feels hard at first but then the examples make it easier to understand.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class. It was very enlightening and enjoyable. Professor Guerrini is very concerned about the success of her students.
I found the material to be really interesting and found the class easy to follow. I enjoyed the diversity of the topics and classmates responses.
I learned both theoretical information as well as practical information from Professor Guerrini and her class. I liked the assignments because she uses stories to help explain how these apply to humanities. I would take another class taught by her.
After taking this class, I feel like I have a direction now in college in my degree program and in my work. Thank you Professor Guerrini for making this class enlightening.
I glad I took her class, it made me realized that we humans need more empathy. You don't need to purchase any books, other than the movies I had to purchase through Amazon or find through Netflix for free, if you have a subscription. I enjoyed this class, heavy reading and writing. Your normal quizzes and weekly on-line discussions.
This class was a joke. I took it online, and I don't think she read a single one of my posts. She made the class more about her than the subject. Be prepared to BS your way through the class.
Professor Guerini gave kind feedback on my assignments. I learned a lot in this class.
I am thankful I had Professor Guerrini for my first class back in college after a ten year career path change. She answered my text questions. She got back to me quickly. The content is engaging.
I really enjoyed the interactions with my classmates and the stories we learned. Some of the topics are harder emotionally than others for me.
Liz is amazing. She summarizes weekly discussions and gives good feedback. I have changed my major because she is so inspiring. weekly post discussions and very few quizzes. She will respond back quickly if there is any issues with the online class. gives you 2 chances for your exams.
You know what is expected. 1 weekly post usually 3-5 paragraphs long. She gives you enough to write about in her weekly prompt so it is not hard. You have to write about the readings or videos that she has assigned and relate to it. There are 4 quizzes, one paper, midterm exam and final(discussion post). Comm if you are struggling, shes flexible
Elizabeth is the most compassionate, supportive, and thoughtful professor I've ever had throughout college. She really wants to see you succeed, and she always wants to be fair to everyone. Although I've only taken her online, she's had such a huge impact on the way I think. Take her and just put in the work, it's a super easy A.
Elizabeth is a very passionate person in this field and I felt that I actually took away a lot from this class. You only have 2 test, with the rest being weekly discussions. The work load was pretty light and it was pretty easy to obtain an A. As someone who took this for GE requirement, I found the class easy, rewarding, and learned a lot.
Elizabeth is a caring person that is passionate about Humanities. However, she is very slow at grading assignments and does not give feedback. She is also slow at responding to emails and canvas messages, but she does allow text messages. The material is interesting and opened my mind to other viewpoints.
Im grateful to have a caring professor when our community experienced its second fire in two years. I lost my home in our last fire and to have another fire again during the semester is scary. Our professor not only gave great assignments but was caring and worked with us to stay on track. I texted her often and she was quick to get back to me.
Same assignment every week but on a new topic. She is unclear and disorganized in terms of what she wants these assignments are on. Lectures are 300 slide PP's with no context or useful information. If you're looking for easy GE, this is it. I wanted to put a bullet in my leg after week 7 just to change things up in my life. In other words, BORING.
I took this class during covid so it was a great option while I was home from my college.
I am so pleased with Professor Guerrini and they way she taught this class during a pandemic. Online classes are usually a huge struggle for me but the way that Professor Guerrini had this class structured worked amazingly for me. I learned so much in this class and I genuinely would recommend taking her class if you struggle with online classes!!!
Professor Guerrini is a great teacher who adjusted her class to online really well. Replies very fast to students and doesnt give out too many assignments. I was able to learn a lot from her class and I highly recommend taking one of her classes if you have the chance.
She was exactly what I needed during covid. I almost gave up but she kept working with me and she gave me hope that I could finish the class and do well. I would take her again.
Writing is hard for me in my classes. I was able to write my opinions which made it easier for me. I really like the film studies way of learning. I like the stories we read about or saw. Some are really sad but I like how they all end up as heroes. I liked this class. I see the application she talks about.
Professor Guerrini was extremely kind and easy to talk to outside of class. Whenever I texted her a question, she would respond in a timely manner. Her grading is straight forward and her assignments are not difficult. Just do your work on time, and you will be fine. I had no problems with her, would totally recommend her class!
Professor Guerrini has a neat way of showing us how we are all really heroes and we can help each other like allies throughout humanity versus the villains or enemies. She did a great job of using the stories to show us this side of humanity. I'd recommend the class.
I took this humanities class as an undergraduate requirement to graduate from Sonoma State University. I only needed this one class so I didn't want to pay the full tuition on my campus and instead I paid the jc tuition price which was much better for my budget since I lost my job during covid. The class was unexpectedly pleasant and interesting.
I learned a lot this summer. Thank you!
Professor Guerrini was a great choice for Humanities. Weekly assignments consisted of a discussion board and a quiz, though they got monotonous after a couple weeks, it was extremely easy and made it manageable to work fulltime while taking. Do not email her because you probably won't get a response. She is extremely knowledgeable at this subject.
I really enjoyed the course and would recommend it.
I'm a nursing student and appreciated her approach of incorporating the sciences with the social sciences. She made the topics interesting and useful especially in my field.
I enjoyed this semester the topics were very useful for me as a nursing student. We studied many different disabililites that I never imagined existed. The film studies approach worked with this topic and made it relatable. I'd take the class again.
I couldn't have asked for a better covid experience. A heartwarming class thank you.
Thank you for this class, Professor Guerrini. It was a good experience.
I liked what you taught us. The assignments of my classmates were also gave me a lot of knowledge. I liked the discussion format where we were able to see classmates assignments. I think the way you structured the class made this possible.
She is so accessible outside of class. Every time I texted her a question about an assignment or a grade she texted me back. I liked the assignments. I would recommend the class.
I think it is neat how she goes by Liz. She is caring and she cares about the topics that come up in her class. I learned a lot about medical conditions that make me think of our humanity.
I did not know was to expect with humanities and still not sure if I totally know what humanities really is. This class taught me a lot about disorders and the brain though. You can tell professor Guerrini is just a really unique person ad is super passionate about what she teaches.
I would definitely recommend this professor and take her next class. She made hard, boring material seem fun and easy. She also made the content relevant to us. Every module was related back to us. I really loved this class!
Interesting class and unique way of starting with our interests and then going to the topic of the week which was ancient yet somehow related. I learned a lot this semester.
This was a great class. She made it interesting and I now am interested in the literature and culture of many of the places we studied. Thanks to this class I just booked a trip to New Zealand for December when I graduate to learn more about the Maori culture. I'm so excited thank you!
This was for sure the easiest class I have ever taken. The class consists of a single (long) discussion post once a week, and that's it! Work consisted of researching topics or watching movies. This is the perfect class to add to your schedule if you have a lot on your plate but still need more credits. She made the work interesting and relatable.
Professor Guerrini has traveled a lot and you can tell she likes teaching about the world. I enjoyed the lesson on Oceana and studies that showed that people from Taiwan left and traveled the oceans and even Americas.
HUMAN 26!! a great class if you're looking for an easy A to fulfill your humanities credits. The course primarily involves watching films. The instructor is flexible with deadlines and often grants extensions. There's just one discussion assignment per week, making the workload very manageable, and she's a lenient grader!
Professor Guerrini is very kind, caring and passionate about her work. This is the easiest class I have ever taken and I found it informative at the same time. It incorporates lots of music, some movie watching and a few lectures. Extremely manageable workload.
HUMAN26 was a great class. She does a great job of creating an online class with a manageable workload that is also engaging. I feel like I learned a lot and was never unmotivated to complete my classwork. Overall, Guerrini does a great job of creating an effective online class. There were no Zoom meetings, no textbooks, perfect for an online class
Professor Guerrini made this class a safe place for everyone to share and we all came from very diverse backgrounds and ages. She made hard information seem easy with her examples. For example, when we studied the Maori culture, she made this topic very exciting. She loves what she teaches and it shows. I'm so grateful I had her as our teacher.
Professor Guerrini makes this class engaging with her passion for the subject. The manageable workload and helpful lectures make it easy to learn. unstuck ai was great for preparing for the exams.
There were no lectures, only one assignment a week which was very fun to do. We only had to create brochures about the weeks topic and relate it to the weeks reading that she would put into the assignment description. At first it might be confusing but it got simple. Every assignment was similar, quick and easy to do.
