Talks a lot about nothing. Don't bother printing out the power points for class because all she does is show them, read some of it, and flip to the next one. She's a horrible at explaining and you still won't get it. Expect to teach yourself! Test:HARD!

do not take harris!! ridiculusly hard test!!
Should not be a teacher! I learned more in the SI sessions then I ever did in class. All she does is giggle and zip through powerpoint slides. I loved Biology until I took her class. Just run!
She is a nice lady, but her tests are hard. She is more than willing to help you and if you go to the lectures and pay attention, its not all bad. I'd take her class again, because I feel like I am learning a WHOLE lot, even though it it hard!
OK teacher. Expect to teach yourself. Tests are Unnecessarily hard. She is passible though if get C's on tests and an A in lab. ppl that have taken ap bio in hs are having a hard time. I have to give it to her about being nice. She is approachable. Study and go to lectures they kinda help
Though she is hard, I think it's worth it. If you REALLY want to know your material, take her class. She forces you to learn everything. It's all a matter of working for it. She's not a teacher who makes it easy to get a good grade, but it's possible.
Lectures are almost unneccesary to attend, just read the textbook and show up for tests. Make sure to get a good grade in lab, though. Her tests are pretty hard.
It isnt an easy class if you dont pay attention in lectures and read the book. She is a little coocoo in the head to me, but will help you out if approached. First 2 tests are HARD but the last 2 werent as detailed. Make sure you get the details in the text for the tests!
Its hard to make yourself go to class b/c she only reads directly from power point slides you have a copy of...test are really hard SI sessions help if you go to them..plus you get extra credit....make sure you do good in the lab.that will probably be the only thing to save you from failing
I SHOULDN'T HAVE TAKEN HER. COULDN'T CHECK THE STATUS OF THE TEACHER BECAUSE UNDER UCF'S SCHEDULE SEARCH, FOR THE PROFESSOR, IT SAID TBA. FIRST DAY OF CLASS I KNEW I WAS HEADED DOWN THE CLIFF!
Exams are way to hard! The stuff she goes over in class and has on her notes are so BASIC and CLEAR...but then when it comes down to exams its so SPECIFIC and HARD! The exams dont correspond with what she goes over at all. You will have to overwork yourself in this class. Even AP Bio was easier!
Lectures are the basic overview from the chapter. Her test however are the fine details from the book. Don't take her class unless you like teaching yourself.
Her lectures were pointless, her voice is annoying, and her condescending tone was not necessary. Her tests were so focused on minute details from the book. I recommend attending as many SI and SARC sessions as possible because you have to teach YOURSELF. GET ANOTHER PROFESSOR!
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!! You will FAIL 50% of my class did!
WOW this class was so hard! She is a really nice person, but just insane when it comes to making up test questions.
Tough class, but definetly passable. She is extremely helpful and willing to work with you. Read the book, it really does make a difference when it comes to tests. overall a good teacher
not very helpful, when u thibk u know something you don't. dont take her you will have a better chance with another teacher

this class was hard. i thought i knew what she was talking about but then when the test came around id always get a c. I did good only because she offered so much extra credit
Lets put it this way...i was a bio major and now im not...she is horrible.
In this team taught class, everyone seems to hate her, but I think she's awesome. She's really passionate about her stuff, and her notes are lighthearted and fun.
this woman is a waste of space.
She is not as bad as everyone makes her out to seem. Her voice is pretty annoying and she is passionate about plants, but if you pay attention and take notes, an A is not out of the question. I don't know why everyone hates her so much?!
Great at lecturing and helping you understand concepts. Her tests are the complete opposite of what you think they would be. Writes questions so hard that if you don't know tiny details about groups of things you will miss the entire question. Weeded me out... was a bio major, not anymore!

Of the 3 prof. she is the worst! She nags more about ppl online then actually teaching the material. Her tests are so detailed its hard to understand what they are asking. I studied hours for this class and will probably have to retake it!
WORST CLASS EVER THEY FAILED AS MANY AS THEY COULD! class average was an F, raised it to a D so they didn't "fail" everyone, but we all have to retake it.Ive talked to the dean numerous times, this is the WORST CLASS at UCF, all my siblings went to ucf, none had this many probs with a class as this
I have given her a nickname: Brunhilda. Because she is as dumb as a rock and intimidated by students even though she couls be a female gladiator. Avoid her at all cost. She has this weird love for fungi.
Harris sucks. The first couple of class she was ok, only because the material wasnt all that dificult. Her labs were harder and her lectures confusing. Dont take her if you dont have to. She doesnt respect students' concerns for their grades and gets mad instead of helpful if you email her with concerns, criticism and/or suggestions.
Pitiful. C'mon if you're a professor atleast do you job. She is so hard because she doesn't teach properly. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY do do do not not recommend.... seriously i don't . i won't be sorry for u if u take her
BARELY got a C, my previous GPA= 4.0 with 112 credits!!! Most difficult, frustrating experience I ever had. Made me feel like a failure. Horrible teaching method, tests not from mateterial, slides were NOT given. I studied 2 days straight, owned material and then FAILED test after test, no matter what I did. NO MORE THAN 30 Bs per test out of >300!
She is a horrible teacher and just another powerpoint teacher in which that info is nonrelevenat to what is going to be on the test.. recommend another i got C, made all A's and B's B4.

This is my 2nd time having her and I think she's a good teacher. I got a C in Bio 1 and that's after not going to any of the classes except test dates. Labs are easy to get at least an 80 in. If you go to class then you get lots of opportunities to get extra points. And she always answers her emails!
Very good teacher. Powerpoints were a help but read the chapters to learn the material. Except for exam1, all exams have material from previous exams, so always review the older chapters. She'll make the class entertaining. The class is a breeze.
Decent lecturer, easy to follow powerpoints. She's a nazi about notetaking though and her "style" is HORRIBLE and time consuming. Tests aren't bad but the final is HARD AS HELL and has nothing to do with anything you worked on all semester.
Insane w/ her "Note-taking"
Simply the worst teacher i have ever had in 3 years of attending UCF. Tests were not from the material given in class....practically memorized the book and still failed almost every test. She is unfeeling and unfair. Gave a test the day after thanksgiving break, and the final 1 week later. Gave no information about what to expect on any test.
Horrible teacher. Treats students like we are 4th graders. Tries to change your note-taking format. Tests are way harder than necessary, and she does not seem like she cares if her students succeed or not. She wants to get her lectures finished, and checks out after that.
this psycho needs to find a new job. you have to memorize the book and her lectures just to get a half way descent grade. then in the middle of the test 3 material there was a teacher switch and no curve on any tests. stupid note taking method that made it worse and actually took points off for not taking them just right. Total B*tch.
Wow-horrible class. I only had her for the second 1/2 of the semester (thank GOD)! All she cares about are her notes and finishing her lecture. The material isn't that hard, if you try. She's just evil about calling people out--"what are you doing...are you looking at your cell phone...what-am I boring you!?!" And i'm in a lecture class of 300 ppl!
THIS IS THE WORST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD. I GOT A's IN ALL MY SCIENCE CLASSES, BUT HER WAY OF TEACHING IS INSANE. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER. IF YOU ARE M&M YOU DON'T NEED TO TAKE IT ANYWAY. SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH, SHE DOES NOT LET YOU HAVE THE POWERPOINTS, SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN HERSELF. DO NOT TAKE HER
She is a very good orator and have great notes, the problem is you have to write down everything and she doesn't give you enough time nor is it uploaded onto her site. She's anal about her way of note-taking but it actually does help. You have to know everything to do well on the exam, the final exam is ridiculously hard. May God be with you.
This teacher is ghastly. She may understand what she is talking about, but she doesn't really care if her students do. She doesn't go over anything more than once in an organized manor. She picks on individual students. Her tests were ridiculous! Biology in general is not that difficult, but she makes it WAY too hard.
Hardest teacher I've ever had. Memorize whole book to do good on test and final is hardest test in the world. She doesn't give enough time for you to copy all of her notes!!! wow just wow hard
Really hard professor. In matter of fact, we had a sub teacher today and was a better i thought. He communicated efficently with the students and actually gave us time to take down notes. Harris suck, and she doesn't give enough time to take notes. I think there should be a professor change of the sub(forget his name) muchbetter than harris
Her manner of notetaking that she required takes twice as long at home to complete as does the lecture, for each and every lecture. So if you need home time to study for this and other classes then wait out on another teacher. There is tons tons tons of memorization of scientific names of animals and organisms, plus all the details on that being.
Not what I expected, I had to work extra hard in this class and BSC2010 seemed like a breeze to me. She makes you take specific style of notes, checks them every so often. Attend class, she'll take attendance checks too, in class quizzes. Take notes by hand, 1 lab report, material isn't too hard but exams are tricky. study a lot to get an A.
Ok, honestly...shes ok but she needs to realize that people in her class have things to do besides biology, like working full time. She makes it difficult with all of the info she expects you to know & loves specifics, doesn't tend to question on the basic idea. Some test questions pretty tricky, even when you KNOW the material. TA's are awesome.
This class is downright hard. She expects you to study for this class like its your only one. Gives quizzes(i thought that was for lab) does notebook checks(childish). Basically she is tough and she needs to realize that she is teaching extremely hard and be less harsh. Test are ok if you study 5+ literally a week to do good. This is what i do.
This crazy beyotch expects everyone to eat breathe and sleep bio. Tests are almost completely from the book and it's useless taking notes, but she grades you on that too. Ridiculous pop quizzes, dumb way of taking notes, and she doesn't care about you. At all. I had all As and Bs in sciences but bombed the 1st two tests and had to drop- AVOID!!!
She does not give extra credit and you have to work for your grade. However she gives a lot of point oppurtunities that are very easy. Her tests are mostly from the book but they are not that hard. I have gotten B's on very test without a problem. A little work is all this class needs to do well, I don't see what the problem with her is.
I'm sorry to say that she deserves the sad face. Everything's fair game...even things in the book that she doesn't talk about in class. Unless you have an amazing memory or have ungodly amounts of time to study, don't have your heart too set on getting an A. I outlined every chapter with a combo of lecture notes and book notes, and got Bs.
MEMORIZATION. Thats it. If you can memorize huge amounts of information you will do fine, if you cant you will fail. Face it there are some of us that can memorize there are some of us who can do math. This class gets a SNORELAX rating too.
This teacher wants to think that all you want to do is study and learn bio. She's not really bad, as the class is hard. The 4 tests are hard to pass, you have to read every chapter and still the mc questions are tricky. If you have good study habits you might do well, otherwise your in for a long semester. Oh p.s. LAB=hell.
Oh god where do I begin. All I have to say is dont vote to take the 100 question final vs. the 50. Seriously. She makes you take notes a certain way, go to class, you'll get points for just attendance and stupid quizzes, note checks. Tests are hard, make flash cards, make study guides, just memorize the whole god damn book actually.
You definitely have to work in this class, but doing well in lab, on class quizzes and attendance/note checks you'll be able to do okay. I got a B in the class and had C's on all my exams. Stay on track, make study guides for her exams and go to her office hours. And DON'T let her intimidate you
you can tell this lady enjoys making tests extremely difficult with no regard for how much hard work is put in. as a student about to graduate, my opinion is she doesnt belong teaching.
For 1 class period she strung toilet paper across the room to show how old the world is. Just read and study the text because she will not slow down her slides in class. Her tests are pulled out of thin air they look nothing like her slides. 1 day I was 2 min late and she gave me a 0 on a pop quiz!
This lady is pyscho!!! She makes you takes notes a certain way. Gives you extra credit for doing it her way. Dont recommend unless you absolutely have to take it. Her Tests are hard and what she goes over in class inst really on the test.
I can't remeber the suffix of the class but it was Bio 2. I got a B in the class and studied by butt off. Her tests are very difficult you should take advantage of the study guides that are online. Must take notes fast because she doesn't provide the slides online. Also makes you take notes a certain way and won't allow highlighted notes.
She's a nice lady, but I would only recommend taking this class if you love to read every chapter in the book and study 24/7. Her tests are REALLY hard and she isn't helpful AT ALL in class. Steer clear of her!
She blows through her slides and doesn't offer them online so you have to pay attention and write everything down. her test come from both notes and the book so you "have to know everything"... you have to read her test questions twice b.c they dont always make sense, sometimes there are more than one right answers so you have to pick the "best"one
I took it during the summer. Just make sure you actually read before each lecture. Then read again before the test. Take all of her notes, and study both for the tests. Also, during the test ASK QUESTIONS!!! It helps!!
Summer B, 2006: Tough tests - Ask her questions during test b/c she words her questions bad sometimes. She was kinda strict, very helpful at office hours, gave a lot of extra credit, and tests her students well. Review your tests @ office hours. If you want to learn Biology well, take her.
Do not take this class unless you seriously love biology and have nothing better to do than study it. If you take this class, you might as well just memorize your entire book and all your notes because "everything is fair game." She gives a lot of extra credit, but she doesn't help you out at all for tests and doesn't really review.
Dr. Harris is just awful. She knows she words her tests HORRIBLY, the answers are very subjective, I've actually gone to her office hours and have argued some questions before to get points- this shows her answers are NOT cut and dry like they should be. You won't learn much because the stress from this class will make you hate the material.
Her tests are tough! The questions are ackward and the answers are so clear. She basically just reads her slide shows in class and goes over. Taken GOOD notes and study REAL hard. Go to every class cuz sometimes she gives random extra credit.
Extremely Hard Tests. If you want a good grade, plan on going to every lecture, going so SARC, and studding a lot!
Takes the best 4 of 5 tests which are really hard plus a mandatory final. Gives extra credit in class and for going to SI/SARC sessions as well as for taking notes HER way. Do well in the lab and it will help your final grade a lot.
Probably the hardest class I've ever taken. If your in this class you should try to switch to Thomas, she does less chapters then Harris and her tests are a lot easier, yet they are worth the same credit hours.
i failed all of my classes just get an A in this class bc all i did was study for bio and that still didnt work...i failed them all....im jk, but the reviews for this lady are horrible. take thomas, you learn AND you get an A very easily. i got F's and D's on my bio tests in high school...HELLLO A's with Thomas!!
At first I did not enjoy writing the notes her way, but they ended up benefiting me in the long run. This class was difficult but manageable. If I could take it again with her I would.
STAY AWAY!! this professor is crazy. listing to her lectures are horrible!!! tests are very hard and sarc don't help either.
Listening to Harris is just like reading the text book. She gives no relevant examples and also does not show any enthusiasm while you are taking notes at 100 mph AND trying to listen to her talk about something different all while trying to stay awake.. its a good snooz and a bad professor.. for the love of god stay away
I don't think Dr.Harris is as bad as everyone is making her out to be. Yes you do have to study and the notes are a lot. if you study the practice tests at the end of each chapter she puts some of those questions on the test. An A is hard to get in the summer semester, but a B is easy. this is a biology class for science majors so get used to it.
Her tests aren't that bad. It's easy to get a B, but extremely difficult to get an A. The SI leader was good and tried to help us, but the prof.'s tests were too unpredictable. SARC is good too. They also need to choose their TA's wisely. Lecture is really boring!!!
The only thing I looked forward to in this course was writing the student evaluation. Even though this is Bio I, she taught it like a grad level course focusing primarily on microbiology and genetics. If you read the textbook and attend the S.I. sessions you will do well.... as for Dr. Harris, she is completely useless.
I took this class over summer, and it was my life. She didn't drop any test grades and tests are very unpredictable. I learned so much in her class! She seemed really excited to teach us and she was really nice. She really favors botany so be ready for intense lectures on photosynthesis. Definetly only a class for science majors to take.
Double standard questions galore...
Not only lives up to her reputation, but relishes it. If you want a grade that is reflective of your efforts, take someone else. Harris goes to great lengths to give you tests that she admittedly will under-prepare you for. Class is made up exclusively of scantron tests, containing nothing but horribly worded, arcanely nuanced questions.
not good, not bad...average..classic botonist...
Pretty easy class. Just read the book in order to do well--this rule applies to any biology course really. Mrs. Harris was a pretty good teacher too and had fair tests. I am expecting an A in the course. Many extra credit opportunities. 20 points total EC and tests were worth 50. She's a cutie!
Had Dr. Harris for plant anatomy. She was so amazing! Really made the course interesting and relatable to the world. Not that hard either, tests were pretty easy. Just memorize the notes and you can get a B or B+, sometimes an A on the tests. Lab practicals are harder though, study for those. Labs cushion your grade so much. Got an A!
I learned so much in this class, and I really enjoyed it. Dr. Harris makes everthing clear and made class fun.
Contrary to some reviews, I think Dr. Harris does a good job teaching those who are not so great at Biology. This is my retake course and I'm actually understanding most of the material. I'm not great on attendance or studying, but when I do pay attention, I get what she's saying. She can't possibly be a hard teacher because I'm following just fine
I took this class in honors and loved the professor. She went over anything you needed help with and explained the concepts pretty thoroughly. Biology is a challenging subject but if you just read the book before the lectures and study before the tests you will be fine. There are many extra credit opportunities so I would always come to class.
She's awesome! She's very good with her lectures and is fair in her exams. Do what you're expected - read the textbook - and you'll be fine. The labs with her were fun, too.
Dr. Harris is great. I don't understand her low ratings. She is super helpful, always willing to give advice and guidance. She is really easy to talk to and her labs actually help you understand the material. Don't hesitate to take this class! She is amazing! She offered some extra credit, but most of the grades come from tests, so study!
She makes the material seem really easy during class, and the labs are fun but the tests are impossibly hard. She says to just read the textbook but she tests on the littlest most obscure details. I got Cs and Ds after studying for hours but I got a B in the class cause she had to curve a lot.
She's pretty good at explaining and lab was fun. Her exams can be challenging, I recommend taking notes in class then taking your own notes while reading the book. Mastering Biology was super helpful, those Bioflix vids definitely helped a lot.
I took her class honors. I was worried i might receive a B because her tests are challenging, but she gives so many extra credit opportunities that it evens everything out. She just wants you to do the work and learn some. She's a good professor and I recommend her
This class was stressful and difficult. Harris is really nice and helpful during office hours and gives tons of extra credit, but I failed almost every test even though I studied for hours. However, my final grade was a B because of the extra credit. There is a lot of work involved too. Only recommend this class if you've taken AP or IB Biology.
Had her for Honors Biology. Nothing blatantly negative. She is an interesting person and knows her stuff. I felt the course was over simplified - great if you're not a bio related major, somewhat boring otherwise. The Lab portion of the course is amazing though. Overall course is relatively easy, just read the book and pay attention in lectures.
I took this course Honors during my first semester at UCF. During the first exams, I underestimated the material because honestly her lectures consist of outlines of the chapter and that's it. She's pretty useless as an instructor but studying the book (exams aren't made by her) and turning in the extra credit is vital for an A.
I absolutely cannot understand why Dr. Harris has received such low ratings. She is one of the kindest professors at UCF and really wants her students to succeed. The lectures are basic outlines of the chapter material, but if you simply read through the chapter before the test you can get an A. The labs are absolutely amazing though!!!
Dr. Harris knows all of the material and can definitely help you if you're confused (because her powerpoints aren't very detailed.) The class is a combination of tests, in class work, papers, labs, etc which is nice. Definitely read, study and highlight the book to understand the material for the tests! I loved the class.
Dr. Harris definitely knows what she's talking about and will answer any questions during class. Study time outside of class is necessary to get an A, but the coursework is relatively easy. She's also very entertaining.
Good teacher, very nice. VERY SLOW. Undetailed powerpoints. No extra credit (RMP told me otherwise>:|). Tests are hard. Have to read each chapter before test. (4 chapter test=read one each night 4 days prior=golden!)Office hours help. Lab report was HARD, presentation easy, genetics easy, and DNA TEST wasn't too bad. Masteringbio= helpful visuals!
If you put in the work it's possible to get a good grade. You must read the book as the lectures are not detailed. She is very helpful in her office hours, and she is approachable. There is no extra credit, but many easy assignments make up 40% of the grade.
Her class is awful. Her lectures are absolutely pointless because her powerpoints are not detailed whatsoever. You have to teach yourself everything by reading the textbook. I only had her because of a scheduling mess up by UCF, not by choice, and I would advise everyone NOT to take biology with her.
She's a great teacher who is very passionate about her subject and lightens up lectures with personal anecdotes. You definitely need to read the textbook if you want A's on the tests.
Dr. Harris gives amazing lectures . As long as you pay attention in class, you should pass. She gives exams every few chapters and the final is cumulative but not too bad. I would just get the PDF, didn't use the actual book much. There are a few group projects but nothing more than a PowerPoint. One of my favorite classes for sure.
Professor is very passionate about debate, she walked us step by step out of our comfortableness when it came to public speaking. I learnt more about critically thinking in this class than I have in all of my English classes combined. Professor grades fair and is very funny, take this class if you are in college to learn rather than just for paper.
Dr. Harris is very passionate about what she does. I like her style of teaching, take notes because she won't give you her power points. You have to work hard but it is worth it! Exams are critical thinking style so you have to study. Keying is hard but you get better. Cool as a person and gives you chances to recover points.
The difference between an A student and a B student in Dr. Harris's class are those who read the book and those who do not. She will test you on material that is covered in the book because you are a college student and this is expected. She does not give you her notes because writing, listening, and taking your own notes facilitates learning.
Fairly great professor. Tests are average in difficulty, but no curve. Tests counted for 40% of the total grade, with the other 60% being assorted assignments and attendance (which boosted up the grade easily). There are 3 group projects towards the end, which can be tedious at times. The honors lab was amazing though. Would recommend.
She won't help unless you READ THE BOOK and put effort into the class. If you do, you'll be fine. Otherwise expect to struggle a bit.
Dr. Harris is an excellent biology professor. She lectures well, is engaging, and her lab section is informative and interesting. You will have to study for her tests, but they're definitely do-able with proper effort. All tests, including the final, are multiple choice.
The grading of this class is very fair- there are many opportunities to get a good grade, whether you're a bad test taker, not the best with writing lab reports, etc. Dr. Harris is a stickler for detail, but you really appreciate it in the end. Her lectures are very helpful and follow the textbook well. This class is a good intro experience.
Dr. Harris is a caring lady, but don't expect to excel in her class if you don't read.
This class requires you to work, but it was also the only class that I actually learned something in. If you care enough to get the grade you want, it's definitely attainable. Just make sure you read the textbook and do the homework and mini quizzes (in lab) correctly because they do add up. Also pay attention to details.
The information she provides in the lectures is rarely if ever useful. She is not helpful if you ask for advice regarding studying. The tests are incredibly difficult and specific. They cover everything from the book and the lecture. Also the powerpoints are not uploaded to webcourses so take notes and pictures!
Dr. Harris is extremely knowledgable about her subject and you can tell she is passionate about it. Her lectures are easy to understand, however she may power through a bit fast so be sure to take pictures of lengthy slides in particular (she does not post them online.) Overall this class was super interesting and you learn so much by the end.
The lectures is the only way you'll see the powerpoint of notes. The labs are mandatory and at the beginning of class there's a quiz of the reading about the lab, she'll ask 2 random questions, even what is the Latin name of a bacteria... The lab practical is very difficult, remember the organisms, their functions, group name, their labeled parts.
I loved this professor. She was always super nice, tests were really easy to me. Read the material, do the homework and go to lectures.
Dr. Harris was a tough lecturer but it was clear that she was very passionate about the subject. If you are a bad test taker, you can STILL pass this class. I averaged a 69 on tests and ended up with a B in the class because of all the extra credit she offers. DO NOT SKIP CLASS and DO ALL THE HOMEWORK. :)
Doesn't care about you, your life, or your grade. Lets the book and lab work do all the teaching.
Prof Harris is a wacky, fun and sweet person. Unfortunately, Her class wasn't the best to deal with. Pros and Cons: Her tests are almost impossible and her feedback consists of: study right before you go to bed and study some more. Labs are repetitive and tiring but They're an easy grade. Homework is easy and she makes it short. GET THE ATLAS!
She was really sweet. Her tests are extremely detailed. Homework every week through online textbook. Attendance is mandatory, but she doesn't post lectures so you have to go anyways. Small assignments to take pictures around campus every week. She gives lots of extra credit for attendance, bumped me from B to A without ever getting an A on a test!
Her exams were pretty difficult, but she's a really good lecturer and a really fun and helpful person in general. She also gives some pretty good extra credit. I took her class during covid, so i don't know if this is usually the case, but i didn't find the textbook very helpful. Usually all the stuff you need is in her lectures.
She is super nice and is always available to help students.
Shes a great teacher, clearly passionate. Lectures are a must to watch, the homework is based off that and the book but not super hard. Tests are based on homework and lectures but not too tough. Quizzes are usually very easy and consist of taking pictures of environments around you and answering a few questions relevant to it.
Dr. Harris is the absolute sweetest -- take a class of hers if you get the chance to. If you don't make it to every class, it's not a big deal since everything is posted online. Her lectures can be a bit lengthy, but nothing crazy. Interesting class, too!
Nice professor and cares for students but this class and lab were pretty difficult. Her tests are hard and she expects 2 essays with every test to be written with her specific criteria. She is a picky grader and will take off points for minute details. Only take this class if you NEED it.
Dr. Harris is the best, she is very knowledgable when it comes to botany and she is super passionate about what she teaches!
Attendance is a must. Also prepare to study a lot for her exams.
This professor is sweet and clearly cares about her profession... but OH MY GOD this class is insane. You have six VERY difficult in-person exams with none dropped! I am a biology major in my third year with a 3.75 GPA and can safely say I have never taken a course that requires so much memorization. If you take this class, good luck!
Dr. Harris is a great professor, but a bit on the tougher side for exams. The exams themselves cover a wide variety of info from nomenclature to one-off facts about the plant mentioned only once. Aside from that her "get outside" assignments are some of the most fun I've had doing homework and the lectures never fail to be intriguing.
She is a kind woman but the exams are not easy. 6 exams total (none dropped) and the 40 questions are based on memorization. They have obscure questions that are super specific, so you kinda need to read everything in the textbook. There are assignments to cushion your grade luckily. She is clearly passionate about plants, which I like.
I currently have a B, even if you don't get great scores on the test she has a lot of other assignments and easy points that help keep it up.
Dr Harris is very passionate about plants, which makes the lectures very enjoyable. Her tests are harder than you would expect, but studying the material makes them doable. Make note cards! Attendance is mandatory if you want the extra credit point in the beginning of class, and the 5 point quiz at the end of every lecture.
She's sweet, and her lectures can be fun. She has 5 exams (no drops) & the final, all in person. The exams are not easy, some have super specific questions. She gives AMAZING extra credit for attendance. I got B's on all exams except one (A) and ended with a 96. Tons of assignments and each lecture has a quiz on TopHat at the end, so pay attention.
Dr. Harris is a fantastic professor. The classes are definitely lecture heavy, but any and all information you need for the class is within those lectures. Very informational class and overall great experience.
Dr. Harris's BOT3015 class is demanding but rewarding. The exams require extensive memorization, but the engaging lectures and fun outside assignments make it worthwhile. Utilizing Unstuck study and other study tools can be helpful for exam prep.
