Elizabeth Henkel is an excellent professor. She is very clear on the assignments and has a great sense of humor. Any student taking English at CCSN should definitely try to get her as a teacher.

Ms Henkel was the best professor I ever had. She made us write all the time, but I learned a lot about writing because of it. I know that I am doing much better in my other classes because of her. Plus she is really really funny! Definitely take her class if you can.

Prof Henkel is a great teacher! She is more into creative writing which is so much more fun and better then other Eng 095's. I know because I dropped someone elses 095 class, where they focuse more on HS eng. I love her class! Totally interesting! She is very fair. Will be taking her 101 class next sem. for sure!!

One of the best teachers i have ever had. I am confident ANYONE COULD GET AN "A" if: you show up, take good notes, do your essays, pay attention and PARTICIPATE!!!! always looked forward to his class. She is way cool, easygoing, and smart.

She is excellent. I totally loved this class. She is funny and interesting. I learned more from her than from all of the High School English teachers combined. Always available to help and takes the time to explain everything in one on one conferences so that we really feel like she cares. Seemed mean on day 1--but ended up being totally awesome!

Prof. Henkel was an absolute wonderful instructor. She comes prepared to class and is always wanting you to do your best. I would recommend her to anyone. Mrs Henkel is a really great teacher. I took her this summer, and she was really nice and a VERY EASY grader (but she wont admit it). If you write OKAY she will give you an "A" for effort. This class was a easy A,just hand in your work ontime.

I LOVED her! She helped me overcome my fear of English since I hated it in highschool. She stayed after class to help and said she would come in early if I needed it. 2 sems. later, I showed her an essay for another class and she helped me with it. She is a great teacher for online. Do the reading and assignments on time it would be an easy A. She had a baby during the semster so trying to contact her took a little longer for a responce. But I would reccomend her to anyone looking for an english class.

She gives step by step directions for using an online course and will help with ANYTHING you need. I took other online classes that were impossible to navigate. This one was great. I even learned a lot. She is so nice. Definitely take her class if you need english. I just wish coulda met took it at the school.

Henkel is the BEST! She's incredibly helpful and is very clear about everything she explains. There's homework every week but it isn't very hard- it's pretty much only there to get your grade up. No tests, just a few papers that she helps you through every step of the way. DEFINITELY a good class to take, she loves english & cares for her students

Loved the class I thought that I would not be able to keep up, but I did it was somewhat hard, but if you put everything that you have in it you will succeed. One of the best English teachers I ever had. I recommened her. I even managed to make an A in her class.

I took her online summer class. It seems like a lot at first but it think it's cause its a condenced class. She is very nice and helpful but very demanding. It's like you better not mess up on her instructions or you will get a ZERO on your assignment. But what can you expect; its college. I got an A. and I learned alot.

Summer online class was a piece of cake. Online class setup is really clear and simple to follow. Only three major essays, two minnor ones, ten required discussion posts, two quizzes, and plenty of extra credit. Just follow her instructions and make sure that you do not miss anything, because she will give you a zero score if you miss it.

I really liked her and thought she was very helpful. She even met me during the summer for help. None of my other teachers did that. She doesn't take late work, tho, so you have to do eveything on time. She answered all of my emails and posts. I had to work hard for an A but i would take any class she teaches.

Took online and was my first online class. Her directions were easy to follow and she was very helpful, answered all of my questions right away. I am trying to take her 102 too. She's a very nice person and great teacher.

Although she may be a good professor if you do not follow EXACTLY as her instructins state. You will get a zero, that means no grade at all with no explanation or proper guidance for what couldve been a very good paper w/1 or 2 errors. She spoke very poorly of students who made errors. She was a very good professor. Very nice and cares a lot about the subject. She was very strict about what she expected on the reports but clearly laid out what was expected. If you follow the directions you will receive a good grade. (I passed the class with an A). She responded to emails and answered any questions I had.

I took this over the summer in 4 weeks and it was LOT of work, but Professor Henkel was so great. I hate literature but her class was actually interesting and she was really nice about helping me when I didn't understand something I read. Definitly take this class if you can. Plus there are no essays.

Attend class and follow rules and deadlines and you will not only do well in her class, but you will learn a lot of valuable information too. She cares about student's education, and will even memorize everyone's names. She is an MLA Nazi, so make sure you pay attention to MLA rules! Get ready to do a lot of work, but learn a lot in return.

I took this class online. This instructor effectively laid out the assignments and readings. I learned what she was teaching very well. She focuses more on the history and the feelings of eras rather than massive reading assignments. I feel that she has done a great job.

I had her for English 101 and it was great.First off she helped us out by not making us buy expensive textbooks, only 2 small books that costed about a total of $50. The only homework we really had where essays every other week. It was awesome that we didn't have to come to class on the day the essays were due. Highly recommended! Easy A !

Taking this class online for summer. Would not recommend her, esp if you work. I'm a straight A student this is the worst teacher I've ever had. She is very anal about everything, and make one small mistake on your essay and you will get an F for the entire thing. She gives too much extra work on top of the weekly essays. She's crazy. AVOID HER!

Professor Henkel is very helpful. I would take her again if I ever take an English class in the future. She's very thorough about what she wants and she grades fairly. You will have to work hard to get an A but it's doable.

If you did not get an A in this class it is because of you and not because of the class itself. It is very easy, 3 essays, 2 quizzes, and a bunch of discussion posts. There is assigned reading but that's not graded and really not required. I received an A+ I turned in the work, read the notes, corrected the mistakes and it was a cake walk.

She was so helpful and funny this summer. I've been out of school for 10 years and she made me feel comfortable and walked me through the steps. She is a really nice person and a great teacher. I was never good at English until I took this class. Now I know I can write in my other classes too. I loved her! Take her class if you get a chance.

I took this class online. The first day when I read my syllabus, I was terrified because it seemed like a lot of work. I immediately looked up when the latest date was to drop the class. I stuck with the class and ended up learning so much. Even time management skills! She ended up being extremely helpful and a great teacher.

I actually enjoyed the class. It was a lot of work including the discussion boards and reading but there were only 3 big essays. I learned a lot in this class.

If you did well in high school English you can do well in this class. Difficulty is in learning the citation process but even that is pretty straightforward and not rigorously enforced. Went online but in that context she seemed nice and was helpful.

I really enjoyed this class/professor. She promptly responds to emails and gives great feedback regarding discussions/writing. Must have the textbook. Material isn't always easy, but it's interesting. She appreciates students who actually put in an effort, which is understandable. 1 discussion every week, quiz every other week, midterm and final.

Eventually you'll love the class and professor. She really teaches you how to write! Not all professor can do that.

Ooof. This was her first semester teaching Midwestern literature and it was a mess. Revised our schedule four or five times and couldn't keep the class on topic during discussion. Class was easy and all quizzes/exams were open note/open book. It sounds like she may be better in planned classes but she was NOT very well prepared for the one I took.

The easiest class I've ever had. Must read a book the entire time, but it's an interesting book. All you have to do is read 1-2 pages of a poem or whatever she chooses and discuss it in class, sometimes they are boring but it won't take more than 5 min to read. She gets side tracked but overall an easy A. I'm taking her again next semester.

I took English 98, 101,102 and Lit 232 with professor Henkel. There are twelve discussion board posts, four quizzes, midterm and a final exam in ENG 232. Quizzes, and exams are super easy. You will pass this class. Henkel is one of my favorite professors. Take her !

I loved this class! The reading was short and it was all interesting. I learned a lot about reading and understanding difficult stories. She answers emails right away and is helpful with assignments from other classes too. I would definitely take her class again! No textbook, so it's really cheap. Just had to buy a novel. Read and go to class.

Professor Henkel was great. Every assignment was planned out through the semester. It was an easy A. Sparknotes were enough for the assignments. Just one discussion post and 2 comments every week. They were not graded at all harshly.

I had fun in this class every week. It was a 3 hour class, but it flew by because she was funny and everyone had lots to say about the stories. We learned stuff about American history that my high school teachers never mentioned. So cool! I would definitely take her class again! I wish she taught my actual History class!

One of the best classes I took online. Lots of reading to do and discussion posts giving feedback from what you read. Quizzes are fairly easy along with the midterm and the final. Offers extra credit where you have to type up an essay. Only negative I have is she'll take forever to grade your discussion posts, midterm and final.

The online class is fairly simple. You'll have a weekly reading assignment that you will post your thoughts/synopsis on and share with the class. Every 3 weeks you'll have a quiz on that sections reading. Midterm, and final. If you do the readings, you'll have no problem. Professor is very nice & helpful. You'll learn a lot from these readings!

I took this class online and it's probably the easiest class I've taken. You read a decent amount of pages, but it's completely doable over 6 weeks. I would actually like to know if she teaches other classes because it was enjoyable. Take her I couldn't imagine taking another professor for this course!

Mrs. Henkel is a great professor. She is very organized and sets student's expectations from the beginning. She follows the syllabus through out the semester and grades fairly. The amount of homework is reasonable for the time of the semester and it is based on the assigned homework. I will most definitely take her again.

This is an essay course. I took it during the summer. We had assignments due every other day. The quizzes were easy as long as you read the material. There is a lot of reading some of it is boring and some of it I enjoyed.

I took this professor for a 6 week class in the summer of 2016. The assignments were easy and I got As on all of the quizzes and full points on discussions. You do have to read, but some of the stories are interesting. I ended up with a 98% in the class. I definitely recommend this professor.

Easy A! The readings were easy and most took less than 45 minutes to read. Weekly 200 word discussion along with two 80 word student responses. 4-5 easy ten question quizzes. NO PAPERS! There was a midterm and final that were super easy. She even offers an extra credit paper. My Canvas was acting up and she was always flexible about it! Great class

She is such a great professor & I learned a lot in her class. Comparing myself from the beginning of the semester to the end, definitely saw results. Great class discussions. She gave 3 essays during the semester along with a couple of quizzes. Flexible & offers extra credit. She is also very interesting to listen to, very smart. Good feedback

I took her 6 week summer course along with 3 other classes and this class was manageable. 22 graded assignments: 15 discussion posts (12 pertaining to the course packet, 3 pertaining to the book Destiny of the Republic), 4 quizzes (no final exam), 2 reading responses (minimum of 500 words), and participation grade.

There is a lot of reading since it's an English class, but as long as you at least try then it's a pretty easy class. She's clear on her grading and what she wants and she even gives an extra credit assignment at the end. And the textbook is definitely used but it's pretty cheap to rent so that's not really a problem.

This class is really easy. She is super nice and her class is just lectures about papers. There are some group work and attendance is mandatory. However, only did couple of papers the semester besides showing up to class. Very nice and helpful.

Took this class online which was super easy as long as you do what is requested. Typically, one discussion question per week plus one homework assignment or test. Three major essays that are only about two pages long and three timed essays. At the end of the course she gives extra credit and is always willing to help or give feedback.

LOVE HER! She was so helpful and understanding. Very easy grader! She honestly cares about each student and will try as hard as she can to help. If you aren't good at english, i would HIGHLY suggest that you take this class. Fun assignments, interesting discussions, and lots of group interaction. What I really liked about the class was the fact that I only had to log in once a week to complete a discussion post about the reading that was assigned that week. There are 4 quizzes, a mid-term, and a final exam. I would recommend that you get familiar with the readings to do good on the quizzes and exams. I could've received an A, but got lazy.

Shes truly the best I wish I could have her for all my English classes throughout college. Shes super nice and cares about all her students . When she is out sick her husband subs for her and hes amazing and funny as well their great people. Easy class. Weekly discussions. You can skim the readings (which are usually 10 pages or less). Be sure to meet the word count and include quote/page number and you'll be fine. Quizzes are super easy. Take this class.

Class was always active so it was never boring. She always is clear and explains everything and makes sure everyone understands. She works with her students and makes sure they succeed . I took her for both 98 and 101 and I don't regret it at all.

We had weekly discussions with a quiz due every sunday, a midterm, and a Final, and she even offers extra credit if you have +70%+, I didn't take this opportunity and I kinda regret it. I took her English 223-Literature of the American Midwest. Weekly discussion boards regarding the lectures & reading packet she supplies. We concurrently read a book & had to apply both the short stories & book together in our posts. She gives good feedback & outlines her grading process clearly. She was a great professor! She is the sweetest person ever. Has very few live lectures which you do not have to attend and records them for you. Very few papers and gives you weeks to complete them. Please take this professor she is amazing.

Easy weekly discussion posts and short passages. Directions are clear and straightforward. Even if you do the minimum, you'll get full credit for following directions. Also had to read a book, but the chapter due dates are well paced and the quizzes for it are very easy. Super caring teacher and her feedback was always kind!

She was super awesome and as long as you put in the effort in the work, you got a great grade. Yes there is a bit of reading but really not that bad for an English class. She also set it up so pretty much all of our assignments were discussion board posts and the quiz/ tests were answered with your own thoughts on the story. Very enjoyable class.

Overall it was a good class. A lot of reading for the summer semester but enjoyable. The summer semester is so compressed that there are 3 mandatory discussions a week, 2 essays throughout the semester. The professor requires for your essays to be analyzed by a tutor or a Canvas app, and will deduct points if you don't have notes from either.

Reading assignments are provided with the exception of one. If you do the reading for the quizzes and discussions, you will get an A. Essay assignments are short and easy. Also provides extra credit options.

She's such a gem, class was online due to COVID and she was there whenever we needed questions answered. Discussion posts were made relevant and she graded very clearly. She really cared about us passing the course. Essays weren't too difficult, and it wasn't super reading heavy either. She's awesome!

Professor Henkel was an amazing teacher! 1-2 discussion posts a week, along with a few quizzes and timed essays here and there. She gives you the topics for the essays in extra credit live sessions and grades very easily. Provides great feedback but responds 2-3 days after emailing. The reading material for this class was really interesting. There's weekly discussions, a few easy quizzes, two writing assignments that are around 600 words, midterm, and a final. Everything is open book/notes. If you follow the instructions and complete your assignments you'll get an A. I only needed one day a week to complete everything.

Professor Henkel, is an good teacher and I took her my first time college of 2021! She is the best out all my college teacher pick her.

You do need this book because you need quotes from it so while its expensive its something you just gotta do. If you really cant get access to the book there are some poems online and you might be able to read it with a friend. Don't forget to respond to people and the quizzes are easier than you think so just don't sweat it.

Has a great sense of humor. Easy to talk to. Has a lot of great stories and connections. One of the professors that make it enjoyable to learn. Gives out extra credit. Very passionate.

Wow, I am so grateful i had the opportunity to be in professor Henkels class. Not only was she was a great english professor who outlined her assignments clearly and followed her syllabus exactly, but she was extremely caring of all her students as she often gave us resources to aid the school offers and was very accommodating. I took this class fall of semster 2021 which is an good class! Three essays!

Summer online course. Grading consists of weekly discussion posts on stories we are reading, weekly reading quiz, 1 essay, final exam. Very easy class if you use correct grammar in your discussion posts & meet length, you will get full points. Stories are not too bad except the old English ones. Lots of reading but assignments are not bad at all.

My time spent in this class was engaging. Prof. Henkel is a professor I can truly say cares, she is supportive in and outside of the classroom. She encourages diverse discussion and isn't strict with her classroom expectations as long as it's constructive. She displays a strong alliance with marginalized groups and respects pronouns thoroughly.

Professor Henkel was my favorite this semester and I looked forward to her assignments each week. While there is a little bit of busy work every couple of weeks, she has lots of easy, engaging, and simple assignments that take literal minutes to complete. Her class was a breath of relaxing, fresh air. Take her if you can!

The class was super easy, all it was is writing in discussion posts. You get 1 discussion post a week, majority of it is making a thesis or submitting websites for research to a discussion post. Discusions posts can be done in under 10 minutes. only 4 essays, all the same topic and the final exam is just all the essays summarised in 1

Professor Henkel's ENG100 class is a great option. With 3 essays, quizzes, and a final exam, the workload is manageable. I found Unstuckstudy and the free textbook helpful for acing this class. Definitely recommend taking it!

Wonderful class! If you're into literature there are some that are actually very interesting to read, but others are dreadfully long. There wasn't anything too difficult, just make sure you turn in your work on time.

Fun and outgoing teacher. Attendance is very important do not miss any classes. She definitely leans on the left side if you get what I mean , which is not a problem, but I prefer politics to stay at home. However kind teacher and always willing to help.

Hands down most amazing professor i've ever had. First day of class she says she's a safe zone and she truly means it. Literally provides snacks and squishes every class and will tell you abt all the CSN events. The last day she gave everyone personalized notes on how far theyllgo in life.. literally walked out crying. couldn't recommend her enough

I highly recommend taking this professor!! This class I cannot recommend enough, she is very caring and sweet. She offers good extra credit opportunities and also is not that tough of a grader. Not too many assignments either I believe around 3 essays and she's super lenient on topics, she just wants you to try your best. Take this class!!

Prof. Henkel was one of the best professors that I have had the privilege to take it was an easy class and there is some discussion post, but the workload is really manageable, and extra credit if you get help from a tutor. but even if the essay isn't as good she doesn't believe in bad grades she also gives great feedback.

Very lenient and understanding professor. No exams, just discussion posts (which are very straightforward). Readings are very manageable and subject matter ranges in time and place. Henkel is accessible and always ready to help.

Professor Henkel is very kind and caring. The work was easy as long as you put effort into it and you got extra credit if you ran your papers through a tutor before submitting. She also let us choose our paper topics and encouraged us to write what we cared about. Definitely would take her again!

She was a great English professor. She explains everything clearly and uses a lot of good examples.

Lectures are easy to understand and gives useful feedback.
