Weekly reflection papers (Easy As) and 3 paper abstracts. I didn't read a single article she assigned, and I never listened in class, and still got an A-. If you have taken a lot of high level writing courses, avoid this course if you can - adjusting to her assigned essays can be difficult. She claims she is assigning argumentative essays, but if a large body of your paper isn't analysis of the assigned readings (regardless of relevance to your thesis), your grade will suffer.

This was writing intensive class so we read a few readings each week and 4 essays in total, but they were all easy to read and write for the most part. Dr. Hoppe utilized open class discussion on materials and getting to know your peers. She does grade a bit tough as she is usually looking for an exact response in writing assignments. Extra credit

Hoppe is really a great teacher once you understand what she expects of you. Participation is very heavily graded. There is reading before every class, but she gives good notes based on what students have to say about the reading and just pay attention to what she writes on the board and you'll be fine.

Professor Hoppe is an excellent teacher! Her essays can be a bit tough if you are not great at writing papers, but she gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit which will go toward your essay grades. Throughout the semester we had 1 practice paper and 3 papers. Make sure to do the readings, blogs, and talk in class. She is such a fun teacher!

This professor is kind, but she is unclear in her expectations and a strict grader. She does not have a healthcare or research background. I find lectures to be dry and participation opportunities to be sparse, and it's an important chunk of the grade. I've taken better philosophy professors at Loyola, so please save your time.

This professor has a good personality but is a terrible grader and can't give clear instructions for her assignments. I'm not even sure what she wants half the time. Course material is interesting but we do not spend nearly enough time discussing the readings in class; weekly blog posts, 3 quizzes with lowest dropped, and 4-5 pg papers; super inconsistent grading between assignments or papers and participation/attendance is weighted as well.
