Professor Huffman is the best political science instructor ever. She makes the subject really interesting and her tests are so easy. Study the outline for the test and you should As it. The extra credits are really fun and they count for 5 points towards the exams. There is no research papers!!! Only 5 brief essays about fun topics.TAKE HER !!!!!
She is one of the best teachers i have ever had. She begins promptly, comes prepared and lectures are very organized. She is a wonderfully pleasant teacher and I highly recommend her!!
She's a great teacher. I really enjoyed her class. She keeps things interesting.
Mrs. Huffman is such a great teacher. I wouldn't want to take anyone else! The class is very informative and fun. Her lectures are not boring and you will learn a lot. She always answers questions very clearly. Sometimes there were some great class discussion. Take her! You will not regret it!
OMGAH! best teacher ever! I took like three political science classes and either failed them or dropped it. Huffman is the greatest. She has three exams and three papers (five page). take lots of notes because her exams are based on it. I didnt buy the book because her tests are based on NOTES. very good professor! the BEST! take her :).
Overall, she's an easy teacher and very helpful.
Dr. Huffman gov class was the best government class I have take. She is an excellent professor and is willing to work with you if you are having problems. She's really nice, but don't sleep on her exams; If it's on the syllabus, it's testable material. Overall a really great teacher. Highly recommended!
Great teacher. Very nice and she wants you to understand the material. She is open to discussion and any questions. I would take her again. 2 essays and 3 test. No quizzes. Your grade is passed upon what you produce in those areas. Take her!
Dr Huffman is the BEST professor ever. She teaches on what exactly will be on the exam. She has a study guide for each exam. Her lectures are fun and enjoyable. I looooe her class. She is very smart and helpful. We had 2 5page papers (easy) and 3 exams. Dr Huffman is also willing to work with her students if an emergency comes up. I recommend her!
I love her! I loved her class. She is the best ever! 3 exams, 2 papers, 1 group paper! The best ever, better than Morales and every Poliscience teacher at CRC!
prof huffman is the best!!! the class is composed of 2 papers, 1 group paper, 3 exams (the 3rd is the final),she takes attendance daily, but if u show up & take notes u will pass!!!
<3 this professor. i'm a science major and has zero interest in political science but she is definitely the best of the best! class is not difficult if you ATTEND LECTURE. she is sooo passionate about her topic!!! love this teacher and would take her class again in a heart beat!!! 3 tests no final, 3rd test is final, do her extra credit!!!
She's really engaged in the lectures! That's a good thing to have since good lecture notes will basically cover the tests (which vary in MC, fill-in, short/long essay) and are a great substitute for the relatively useless textbook. Essays are informative and had boring subjects, but this was an engaging class! Highly recommended!
Shes very helpful....i didn't like politics prior to coming to this class...but her lectures are so interesting. She's very passionate about what shes teaching.....I recommend her to evryone.....3 exams, one paper, and one group work..attend her classes and youll b fine......
Go to class and start your paper a week or two before the due date, READ the sections and youll be good
The subject's boring, but the she makes it interesting. Her tests are straightforward. Attend her lectures, then you're fine. I don't think u need O'connor book though to get a good great in this class. Her lectures all come into the test.
Basically do as she says! Go to every class and understand the material inside and out: READ the textbook and go over your notes and you'll do fine. She clearly goes over what'll be on the exam beforehand and she's easy to approach for questions. Take her class! She's very passionate about the subject matter and she is extremely HOT!
She was awesome, I think she is a great teacher. Made me wanna be a political science major to be honest. Would take her again, definitely. Super nice, enthusiastic, and fun. Grades tough, make sure you know what she wants!
She's pretty unorganized as a prof. comes late regularly, takes 2-4 weeks to return exams. Lectures are extremely boring. Doesn't do much review or help if you're lost, basically lectures and class is over the rest of it is on you if you want to learn it.
She's great. She gives you a study guide that will get you an A on the test if you fulfill it. She lectures the whole time so you have to be there and pay attention. Her exams aren't too hard. She'd super nice too.
Easy A if you take good notes & go to class. She gives a general study guide but most of the test answers are directly from her lectures. She's very kind and helpful. She's very prompt in replying to your emails -her preferred form of communication outside of class. Most of the class is lecture but she also gets the class to discuss current events
3 tests, multi choice/short anser/essay. 1 research 10 pg paper. 1 group assignment. If you even skip ONE of these assignments you will fail the class. Her lectures are very fast, so if you miss something make sure to interrupt her to have her repeat herself. Overall good teacher.
Professor Huffman is very helpful. She will help you as long as you approach her and she can provide the time you want. I thought I was one of the average students but after the semester, it turns out I am one of the top three students. You will love the course bec of her. PS. Don?t forget to address her as Professor or Doctor. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Huffman is fantastic and she really knows her stuff. Lectures can get a little dry, but still, very fun. One big research paper and 3 exams. The exams can get very difficult unless you take notes. My first exam I didn't take notes and failed. My second exam, I took notes and got a B. It's that simple. I would recommend her.
Dr.Huffman is a energetic teacher, who loves drinkin soda, Must come to every class, Take note is mandatory if you want to pass the test, start research paper Early n will guide you through the paper. Since the class i have gotten more invovled in politics andgain alot of knowledge
She's a decent professor. She's helpful. Her lectures are pretty clear. Start early on research papers tho. She's a really good professor. Be sure attend every class, and take good notes as the exams are based on her lectures
Amazing teacher. She is really involved and makes the class interesting. She says from the beginning it isn't an easy class, but she has a knack for presenting the information in a way you can understand and remember for exams. nice lady who cares about seeing her students succeed.
I highly recommend her if you want to take Polisci. She's very nice and helpful at her office hours. Her exams aren't hard. The first one i didnt do well but the last two exams are super easy. With every other class you have to study. Gives extra credit and a 10 pg paper isnt that bad. She grades easy so i dont mind
Great Professor! She is very passionate for the subject and attendance is a must! Grades aren't given, their earned. There are 3 exams throughout the semester and one paper. You learn a lot in this class, however, she does move quickly through the lecture. Overall, I recommend her !
Loved the class.
She was by far the most amazing professor I've had. She gave great analogies to the material that made it easy to learn, and she was really into the subject she taught. She understood that our class was difficult (8 week course) and took it into account on our lectures. If I wasn't moving, I'd definitely take her again for another course.
Nice professor. Class moves by fast, so keep your game up and you will definitely pass this class.
To be honest, the teacher was very nice and she was clear about the way of her exams. however, i wasn't well prepared in my first exam and i failed. but i kept the class, and worked a bit harder and i ended having a B. Take her, she's nice but u have to be on the top of everything.
You just need to show up and take good notes, she explains the entire book, all the philsophers, everything to you! Make sure you write down the little things she says about them for future paper, and exam tests because she likes it when you throw it back to her and give your opinion. Great teacher! Love her!
She's a really good teacher and really easy to listen to. Even if you're not a politcial junkie she can make the class really interesting. I'd definitely take her again.
Awesome class!! She's very clear on what she wants, so if you attend class and take notes you'll be fine. Test are based on the lectures, so i repeat, go to class!! Overall great prof and I love her southern accent lol.
I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR! She's so nice! Her tests consist of her lectures and you honestly don't need to read the book. You just need to do the study guide and put in about 3 hours of studying before the exams. I got A's on her last 2 tests and a B- on her first one because I didn't study much. STUDY THE MYPOLISCILAB TESTS! Love her!
she is a great professor! She teaches very well and is very understandable. She made a boring subject like politics actually cool to listen to. I recommend to everyone to take her. If you do bad in her class then its totally your fault! Easy class
Three words: She is amazing. Such a great teacher with such a great heart.
She truly teaches to engage her students and makes the material easy to learn. She provides extra credit and is flexible with make-up work/tests. Communication is KEY. You will love her class! Very easy :)
Great teacher. Class is pure lecture with an essay and project due later in the term. She made political science interesting to learn and she is very helpful when your struggling. Overall she is easier than other poll sic teachers at crc too.
I hate Gov with a passion, But this teacher is amazing. She was clear, I never paid attention in Gov until I got in her class. My only problem is the essay, its a little difficult. (10 pg) And her test were hard for me. They were 1/2 multiple choice 1/2 essay! and one test was fill in the blank. Study the study guide with depth and until perfection
Professor Huffman is an amazing teacher! She takes a ridiculously hard subject like political science and makes it interesting and easy to learn. If you want to get a good grade in this class you need to show up and pay attention. She is enthusiastic and will teach you everything you need to know to pass the class. Take Professor Huffman!
She's a hard grader, doesn't provide much feedback if you're trying to improve test scores. Very unorganized, she doesn't use d2l or update grades till the last week. Passed with a B when my percentile was nearly an A, her work ethic sucked the life out of me. Be prepared if you take her.
Professor Huffman is one of the best Professors I've ever taken a class with. Very passionate about subject, always helpful and ready to answer questions. Tests are not bad, pay attention to lectures and study a bit to do well. The research essay takes time and effort but she'll help you out if you need help. Overall great class. Highly recommend.
she grades super hard and the tests consist of multiple essays on questions the essays have too be 3 pages long a piece
I have never been interested in anything relating to politics, but Prof. Huffman made my experience more than manageable. In fact, great! She's a VERY good professor. Exams are based on her lectures, that's why attendance is a must. She knows very well what she's talking about. Once you know what she wants you to write on the essays, you're good.
She is a must take if you want a online class. She is very clear and her tests are so easy. You can use your books on tests and quizzes which make them even more easier. Although you have to put a lot of work it should be an easy A or B if you try.
Best Professor I ever had she is always very clear and is always sure to be fair. The only way you won't pass the class is if you don't put the effort. Expect to work a but because this is college but the work is not over extensive . I would high recommend her she is literally the best professor I have ever had. She doesn't teach she inspires!
Her class is composed of 3 tests, 1 research paper, and a group assignment. DO NOT take the first test lightly, it's the hardest one and will reflect on your overall grade. The 2nd and 3rd test are easier but you still have to study. Start the research paper early and ask for help. If u study 2 days prior 2 tests, u can ace it. She's also helpful
One of the best professors I have ever had at any Colleges I've attended, she takes her time outside of class during office hours to talk to you and help you. Its a really hard class but she is really helpful. I am terrible at this subject and shes the one who help me get through this class with a passing grade.
She's such a great teacher! Her lectures are more like stories. Make sure to keep up with your readings, check D2L for any links she may have posted on there because you WILL need them for the exams. There is a research paper you need to do. Ask, and she will help you! Use the study guides for exams! They're very helpful! Don't miss class!
I took Professor Huffman for both Intro to Government and Political Theory. I plan to take her again next semester for Political Economy. She is amazing. She will help you in any way she can, whether it is with class work or personal issues. Very approachable. She has 3 Test. 2 midterms and one final, all in a different format. 1010
I took International Political Economics with Dr. Huffman in the fall of 2014 and this semester I'm taking Introduction to Political Theory with her. She's fantastic! She knows exactly what she's talking about and you will learn everything you wanted to learn in these classes. What more there is to say? She makes political science fun.
Expect to need to go to class, if you skip you will not pass. Tests are based on lecture and reading. Three exams and one ten page term paper. She will help you if you ask. Do NOT expect her class to be a piece of cake. Use the test study guides she provides and read the online articles! Extra Credit is offered.
Her exams consist of essays, and she also requires a 10 page essay about policies. Oh and p.s., you better get all those 10 pages in, otherwise she will pass you with a D. It happened to me, and I was very upset. I thought I was the only one, but apparently more than half her students were receiving poor grades. She expects way too much!
Dr. Huffman is the best! Despite the fact this class was 3 hours long & started at 5:30pm, it always felt like time flew by, b/c her lectures are amazing-well thought out, interesting, relevant. No homework, 75% of grade is 3 exams & 1 essay, lots of E/C. Expects college level work, but makes expectations very clear. You can learn a lot from her!
She relates her lectures to things students are interested which is nice and you have to go to class in order to take notes because her lectures are on the exam as well as things in the textbook. Do the study guides for the exams, everything on them are on the exams. Study for the exams and do the term paper and you're good.
I had an "ok" experience with professor. She can be nice to some students, but for some she will call them out and make the room feel uncomfortable. I know that teachers do not like distractions, but some measures taken did not make the class feel enjoyable. She doesn't use PowerPoints, so you must show up to class to take notes. Critical for exam
She is very well organized, her lectures are interesting, and she clearly knows what she is teaching, but she is a tough grader. She has extremely high expectations for writing in class exam essays and the 10 page research essay.
Very good lecturer, she made me interested t 7:30am. 4 exams (final not accumulative). the 1st one is the hardest and they all get easier after that. 1 10 page paper (she gives you a good outline). She offered a total of 50 extra credit points (half an exam) and reopened the online quizzes for a day at the end of the semester. Best Am Gov professor
I LOVE THIS WOMAN. At first, I thought she was intimidating, but I learned to love her because she truly enjoys what she does and cares about students who are willing to work. I would recommend going to her office hours, dedicating a decent amount of time for studying, and writing the study guide over and over until it sticks. You will love her!
Very hard class, especially since it is only a GE. Currently taking it online and thinking about dropping. 3 essay + 4 short answer/fill in the blank on first exam in a matter of 2 hours. Weekly discussions that require textbook use and sources. She does offer extra credit, but it is limited to how many you can do. I will never take her again.
I hate government and Huffman made me hate it even more. I can't believe this class is so tough-I never expected government to be easy, but didn't think it would be this difficult either. She doesn't give feedback, test are hard, and the essay is even harder. The whole class is having a difficult doing well!
Professor Huffman is very knowledgeable of her field, but don't expect to comprehend everything she's talking about if you have not taken a Polys class before this one. As an English major, I got a 75 on her research paper. She is difficult, but she is do-able. I highly advise to voice record her sessions since she does go through material quickly.
You show up to every class the exams are ok; 80% class average on all exams. Her lectures are planned out to make taking notes easy. 10 page gov paper she gives months before it's due have enough time to ask for help not supposed to be an "English" written paper. This class isn't supposed to be an easy A but she does make it a very much possible A
Huffman was a cool professor! You have to show up to class to get credit for attendance, and she does not have notes online. She is very enthusiastic about political science, and you can tell that she loves her job. She cares about students, and she is not a hard grader. You can get 10 points of extra credit for each test.
Professor Huffman is amazing! She really wants to make sure you pass. She highly encourages using her office hours, DO IT! She is extremely helpful. She assigns a lengthy term paper but utilizes the entire semester to work on sections of the paper. The best thing you can do is listen to her advice and just do the work how she says to!
Her online class was not too demanding, due to it being online it highly depends on how responsible you are. Online hw assignments and reading quizzes, video quizzes, a research paper, and 3 big exams(worth many points). Also requires purchase of Revel online program and offers extra credit too!
Professor Huffman is an amazing teacher and she has a passion for political science. This class was very enjoyable overall but a lot of work! There are three exams, two were essay based with some fill in the blank and the last was all multiple choice so you need to study! There is also a long term paper. Do-able to get an A if you study.
Huffman is a great teacher who is passionate about what she teaches. Very knowledgeable and likes when students think critically and ask questions. 3 tests, take good notes and study them well before hand. She has study sessions in Fridays sometimes before the test - take advantage of them. Overall great professor and hope to take her again.
LOVED her class. Amazing enthusiasm, great lectures and super easy to understand. Lots of quizzes and tests. Super great!!
Prof Huffman is amazing. She is very straightforward. Show up to class, do the work, and you'll be sure to pass. Her lectures are engaging and can be pretty funny. She is great with feedback and is always open to help out her students.
Definitely my favorite class this semester. Huffman is direct, easy to understand, and manages the class well. Three exams, weekly quizzes, a research paper, and a group paper. Two of the exams include writing an essay. You have to attend class and study for the exams. Lectures are interesting, funny, and somewhat impartial.
Really easy class if you pay attention to her lectures. 2 exams and 1 final. 1 research paper around 10-12 pages which is 20% of your grade. All quizzes online. Also offers a lot of extra credit upto a letter grade on each exam. Overall really easy class and not hard to get an A. The book isn't really needed.
Prof Huffman is able to take a "boring" subject and make it interesting. This class fulfills a GE requirement for me, but I am actually glad I took it. I know so much more about why the political landscape is the way it is, today. She has so much energy!
Loved this class so much! Polisci is usually a subject that is dry, but Prof Huffman spices it up with current topics in how she presents all of her concepts. The class was very talkative in terms of discussing politics in a nonpartisan way, and how she facilitated the discussions makes me want to take her again; too bad im transferring.
Professor Huffman was a fantastic professor for POLS301! She's very passionate with her lectures and explains everything in great detail. Often has office hours immediately after lecture is finished. Exams are essays/multiple choice exams. Textbook is required for assignments on Canvas. Overall, one of the best profs I've had so far!
Professor Huffman is amazing and I really enjoyed the online course. There are weekly readings and quizzes that get tedious but they cover everything in the exams. There are weekly journals and quizzes on articles and videos as part of the homework. Exams can be challenging but an easy A if you do the readings. There is also one research paper.
Love love looooove Dr. Huffman! I took her for her online POLS301 class and she was amazing! The structure of the class was simple with either weekly readings and/or videos to watch along with a quiz to test your comprehension. There was three exams and one research paper. Her feedback was tremendously helpful and she always kept it positive.
Why did I only read the positive reviews? This class is HARD! Most of the time, I don't understand what she is talking about. She's very particular with certain students. Expects ALOT from essays and exams are CRAZYHARD. She expects you to fully comprehend everything. Memorizing won't do you any good in this class. Believe me when I say its hard!
extra credit and study guide is provided for each exam. but study guide does not help prepare for exam. Majority of the exam questions are based on current events which is not on the study guide. I studied the study guide and still was not prepared for the exam. really hard exam and class. only for those greatly devoted into politics.
I like her so far this semester, she gives a grade extra advantages for each exam, assigned essay over a month in advance, and drops a quiz. I don't see how I can drop bellow an A or high B in this class. She even started watching a show I recommended to her! She is passionate for her subject and seems understanding with students.
Sooooooo much work. My grad-school friends were even surprised by the mass amount of homework expected from her class every week. She is wonderful with responding to emails, very kind and understanding. However, I have put my all into this class and worked far more hours than any other class I have taken and ended up with a C. HARDEST CLASS EVER.
Professor Huffman is amazing. I took her because I wanted to do the CSU grad requirement of POLS and HIST, but ended up changing my major! Tests are straight forward with clear study guides, but if you show up to clsss and take notes, youll do just fine. You also can get up to 10% extra credit on each test! Quizzes are all online and easy.
Took this class as a requirement and ended up loving it. It may have been because my other classes were super boring, but this class ended up being my favorite. Huffman gives awesome lectures, but there is a lot of note taking. Tests are pretty tame and has some quizzes online. Gives all the recommended study material for you to pass.
One of my favorite classes/profs I've taken, her lectures are genuinely interesting and entertaining! Make sure to pay attention and take notes, as most of the tests are based on lecture. If you take advantage of all extra credit opportunities it boosts your grade by 5.5% (they are easy to do!), also the study guides are very helpful for tests.
She is perfect if you don't know anything about politics. I was not aware of anything before going to her class , but learned a lot from her. Explained everything in easy words , gives examples so you can easily understand her lectures. Recording lectures also helps if your speed is slow in taking notes. Amazing professor !
She is a very tough grader, I try my best and formulate my papers exceptionally well and still gives me a B on every writing assignment. The tests were never like the study sheets she gives us!!! Way off! Only gives 10 points worth of extra credit. Im blessed I even passed her class. Good luck to you if you choose this class
Professor Huffman is very passionate when it comes to teaching political science, I enjoyed coming to her class! There were three exams in total, 1 research paper, weekly online quizzes, and then a group paper. Her exams are pretty straightforward, just make sure to go over the study guide. She is a tough grader when it comes to essays.
DO NOT TAKE POLS 301 ONLINE. The worst mistake I have ever made at CRC. Super hard for no reason and so much work and totally not worth the headache. She responds yes, but is pretty rude. I think this class is very different in person and just avoid this class online with her at all costs.
I had her online and she's friendly. There is a lot of homework - reading quizzes on Revel, article/video quizzes, and current events. If you get ahead it will be okay and have good writing skills. Tests are writing based and study guide is only slightly helpful - do the extra credit, know the main things, and read the articles. Overall good prof.
She's passionate & thorough. Homework includes Revel readings/quizzes, video/article quiz & news brief which is due weekly. Revel costs $70. She gives study guides 4 exams & final. Exams r essays. Final is 50 ?'s multiple choice. Extra credit is available. There's a research paper, which u can opt out of 4 news brief. Do urself a favor & take her.
Incredible tough grader, a lot of work for no reason. Her exam questions are very simple and broad questions then you get points knocked off for not writing enough, and not giving enough evidence. She needs to understand that majority of people taking this class is for GE requirement and not majoring in POLS. Never taking again!
Weekly online readings, quizzes, briefs, and her exams are ridiculous. It a GE class and she treats it like you have a Ph.D. in Political Science. There is a long paper which can be opted out for more briefs, probably the only good thing about the class. Exams consists are essay questions, which must be detailed in order to pass. GOOD LUCK!
Dr. Huffman can probably make any subject interesting. We had one final research paper, one group paper, and three exams; also, weekly quizzes and plenty of extra credit. Exciting class, you won't ever look at politics the same way.
In the middle of the semester when this was switched to online because of COVID-19; sad to miss out on her great lectures, but her online content was very interesting too. She assigns essay exams and grades a bit tough, but there is extra credit. The reading is required and difficult, so get ready! Reading guides are handy. Definitely recommend!
Getting an A in her class doable, but you do have to put in effort. This means paying attention to her lectures because she just writes the outline of the lecture on the board and then she just speaks. Study everything on the study guides, do the extra credit (easy), a book can increase your chances of getting a higher grade!! She's a gem!
She has been the worst online teacher ever. She doesn't give any feedback on the assignments but yet expects you to work hard. She's a nice person but she can't teach online.
She was definitely not a bad teacher but there is at least 6 sections per chapter that are due every Sunday. My issue is that her exams are VERY long and have A LOT of reading (mainly articles, some PowerPoints, some videos).
weekly 1-2 pg current events write-ups, national debt discussions, and chapter homework. group paper based on discussions, not too hard. extra credit offered on every test. 3 unit exams with one acting as the final. uses pearson revel
Her chapter outlines and lectures are very informative. The material was pretty difficult but her lectures contain everything you need to know. She's very knowledgable and she's wonderful to talk to. If you're interested in political science or philosophy then this class will be a great resource for you.
Okay professor. You buy a revel program at the beginning of the semester to do assignments every week. We had a discussion, news report, and usually 1 revel chapter & quiz to do every week. Exams were pretty challenging and there was a lot to study but she gave study guides to help. Good thing about the class was you can go at your own pace.
This teacher is super sweet and you can tell she truly cares about you and what you turn in. Gives some of the best feedback. Make sure you write a lot to show all your knowledge and you will get points for that on assignments. Lots of papers... I usually wrote about 14 pages each exam but it is pretty straight forward if you reference the lectures
There are 11-13 chapters total in the revel textbook (>$80). Every week, within those chapters are section quizzes and chapter quiz. Also every week is a article or video quiz. On top of that a brief on current events, 1-2 pages. There are also discussions every week about the national deficit. Final group paper and 3 exams, can earn extra credit.
Professor Huffman was decent. The work can be a lot in the beginning but as move along the course there's less work. Used Revel ($80) where we read chapters and took untimed chapter quizzes. Had untimed quizzes about articles and videos she assigned. Two attempts for each quiz and drop 2 lowest score. 2 exam and final. Multiple choice, short answer
Professor Huffman is a tough grader, but if you a hardworking student you have nothing to worry about. This course has a clear layout, so everything becomes a routine. Take advantage of the extra credit on every exam. Good Luck!
Hates giving out 100% for writing assignments. Have to pay 70$ for the online book/quiz program. Deleted students assignments. Completely un-selfaware political bias. I'm not conservative at all but she claimed the class was non-partisain then stuffs it full of liberal articles and a biased trump obsessed textbook.
Does not respond to her email. Program for the textbook is expensive and annoying to use. Has spelling and grammar errors all through her course yet is a tough grader on any written assignment.
I took her back in fall 2021, it was okay, it was a tad excessive on grading, was a little picky. Understandably all classes get hwk, I had full time work and full time school; so the class work and studying was just harder to keep up with especially with the grading standards for online. Wouldn't recommend if this is not your major house.
POLS 382: Professor Huffman is a tough grader, however she is willing to meet during office hours to help understand any confusion. She offers extra credit every now and then. 4 exams (heavily graded), Weekly homework and final project.
Dr. Elizabeth Huffman is one of the greatest Professors
This class was asynchronous. Everything had clear instructions on what she wanted you to do for each assignment. There was an essay (6 page minimum) about a senate race, readings, discussions, and a group paper at the end. It was fairly easy but hard if you procrastinate.
Only one main paper throughout the semester, weekly group discussions, gives good feedback on grades and has extra credit options to help your grade. I would definitely take again
Chapter reading every week w/ Pearson quizzes. Text book is about $70. Weekly group discussions and 1 group paper based on those discussions. 1 research paper. Prof gives a lot of time and heads up to complete both. Exams have 1 week period to complete. You can pace yourself by deadlines or do early (except exams). 2 extra credit assig on each exam
I enjoyed Professor Huffman's class. There's a lot of reading. A chapter has 30+ pages and you have to take 4-5 small quizzes and a review quiz. Her exams are timed, but are open book. She offers lots of extra credit per exam, so it's impossible to fail.
I've only taken her POLS 382 class (Stats for Social Science). She isn't a good math teacher in which she will explain why Stats matter and how it relates to the real world; But she is not great at explaining the math problem itself. Many times I find myself teaching myself how to do the math. Overall a good teacher and she is very understanding.
Her class is easy but she is super though grader. I just took her class because I had to, other than that I would never take this class. She is a very though grader.
I took her class because I needed the credit. She is one of the worst professors I have ever had. She is a very tough credit. A lot of students dropped her class. Not all students will stay in class. She be as tough as she could be to make the students either drop the class or fail her class. She gives to much assignments and expect you to know all
I had to take her class. I would never take her class again in my life. I think that if you guys don't want a harsh teacher who grades tough then don't take her class.
Late and tough grader with no clear feedback. Got 8/10 on discussions with no feedback while completing all the steps on time. Your grade basically is made up of the 3 exams, 1 individual paper, and 1 group paper. Do not take unless you have no other choice. Will place all responsibility on you and does not consider your life outside of class.
I see a lot of bad ratings for this course but my experience was great. Elizabeth would always provide feedback if needed, grade each assignment quickly, and provide us with so much extra credit I would be shocked if anyone failed this course. The only complaint I have is that she is very conservative with her grading, it's hard to get full credit.
She was pretty chill. A lot of homework, discussions, and the exams were interesting, but as long as you study and do the work, you're sure to pass. She had 1 major research essay that I could not turn in, so if I had done that, I would have gotten an A. She is in touch with current times and would have been happy to be a student of hers in-person.
Professor Huffman's class can be challenging, but if you stay on top of the work, you'll succeed. The weekly discussions and research paper can be manageable with unstuck study and good time management. Overall, a worthwhile course.
Very solid and pretty funny. Class was a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Weekly homework assignments that can last anywhere from 1-2 hours and relatively easy tests that may or may not require homework participation. Would recommend
The sheer amount of work you have to do each week is what makes this class so hard. Readings, discussion posts, quizzes, writing essays, exams &textbook assignments. She's also a very strict grader. At most I would get 9/10 on discussion posts. You have to pay for an expensive textbook. Don't take this class unless you are ready to suffer.
I had a very hard time in GOVT class. The professor is very tough on grading and assigns a lot of work. There are so many assignments that it's difficult to keep up with everything, especially if you're taking 12 units. With 3 extra credits, I got an A. The class was not fun at all. I do NOT recommend.
