very tough! but helpful..wants her students to do well. teaches straight from the text. detailed tests and quizzes. must study!!
sooo nice, but incredibly hard. MUST study. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT..extra credit can pull you up a grade. also, come to all the labs. her lab class is MUCH easier than her lecture class.
She is a great teacher. She's nice, helpful, interesting, and very knowlegeable. You do have to study hard for her tests to get an A, and her T/F questions are tough. But definitely DO the extra credit!!
She is an extremely approachable teacher who really wants to see her students succeed and is always there to talk or listen, but you have to put in the time and work because lectures are sometimes hard to follow, extremely in depth, and she talks fast! Hours of out of the classroom time is needed for studying to get anything near and A on exams.
extremely difficult, never met someone who could talk so fast at 8am,
Extremely, extremely, extremely difficult. She's a very intelligent woman, but she forgets that most of her students are Nursing majors who have other things to read. Expects you to know absolutely everything out of the book, and won't give extra credit out anymore because of the new grading policy, so it's a tough class to pass. :-(
People complain about her, but really theyre just not serious enough about nursing or they like having a scapegoat.she challenges you, and knows so much about the field.she will ALWAYS help you. focus on the book, and take notes in lecture on out of book material that she recommends you know.
Dr. Kozak was absolutely wonderful. She really loves her job and is passionate about the human body. She knows so much and is always willing to help. I would definitely take her again. It is not impossible to get an A in her class and if you work hard, it will pay off. Don't be afraid to ask for help!
Don't take unless serious about nursing. Hours of studying are required for quizzes and tests.Tests and quizzes are entirely out of book and she expects you to know everything.A kind and smart person who truly wants all her students to do well. Take another A&P teacher if you arent willing to work hard and devote most of your studies to this class.
Dr. Kozak is a wonderful teacher! She is so knowledgeable and her love for teaching is very evident in her classes. The tests and quizzes can be hard at times but after all it is anatomy. Make sure to read the book and take notes in lecture on information that is not in the book. She is ALWAYS willing for help, you just have to ask. Overall great!
Talks way too fast and using a recorder is not allowed. It is not very fair. Shows diagrams that are not even in the book, which you are responsible for. I would not recommend her as a teacher.
Kozak is tough, but a great teacher. She knows so much and may at first be intimidating but is always there if you need help. Always take notes on what she says rather than focusing only on the powerpoints. Quizzes and tests are challenging...just take the time to study the material in depth. Having Kozak will be beneficial for nursing majors!!
Not only is Dr. Kozak drop dead gorgeous, Extremely beautiful etc, she is a wonderful instructor! She is extremely talented and knows her stuff, one of the best instructors at Lewis, would rate as number 2 of the entire school. I wish I could live up too her! Def. would recommend!!
woowww! so dr.k she is the fastest talking lady u will ever meet. Even though she tells u to ask questions its still so difficult to understand her. I use a tape recorder...even though its against her policy. OO well, atleast you can pause her
No use in repeating the positive comments as I agree to most of them. All I can add is: I miss her so so much. If you have her now or will next semester please enjoy every class. All the best to you.
Awesome teacher! She's hard, but if you study, you'll be fine. I'd take her if you could. Best Anatomy teacher at Lewis!
Really great teacher. Extremely helpful. She talks kinda fast. Take notes on what she SAYS rather than relying on the book. Relates class matter to real life/clinicals. Funny and entertaining.
Hard class. Be ready to study ALOT! Knows what she is talking about. Talks fast. Make sure you attend class and takes notes on what she says!!!
avoid at all cost if you have never failed before. ive never failed a class before and i am not a slacker. her classes are harder than any of my nursing classes.
I would never recommend this instructor. She is extremely nice, very well spoken, and knows her stuff. However for how much I studied for her class, I deserved to have at least passed the class. When half the class is always failing, and even straight A students are worried about passing, you know there is a problem. She needs new exams.
She is one of the best teachers I have every had, and I highly recommend her. I think the biggest problem people have is with note taking, because if you take notes on what she says and realize the ppts are in the book, she's a managable teacher. I learned so much from her, and I wish she taught more.
Kozak was a great teacher overall, I very much enjoyed being in her class. Although it was very difficult class and her tests were hard, looking back now I can honestly say I learned a lot and feel better off for future nursing classes. She also has awesome stories. I recommend her. Make sure to get a tape recorder!
I don't recommend her. Her tests are very hard and off the top of her head. She talks fast and clicks to the next slide before you have a chance to finish writing down the notes. There's no homework. Your grade will equal what you get on the tests. Sounds great, however, her tests are very hard. In this case, I wish I had homework to boost my grade
The class is very hard and she does talk fast, but she is the anatomy teacher you want. I learned so much from her and it actually sticks in my head. she is there for help whenever you need it because of her "motherly" instincts. tape recorders are allowed and i suggest you get one. by far the best teacher i have had a lewis shes so nice to <3 her
She is VERY smart and know exactly what she is talking about. She challenges you to do better. I would take her again if given the option.
Study hard and you will do fine, I promise. Had her for anatomy I, II, and patho & Im still in nursing. It takes time getting used to her pace but it is manageable. Dismiss all rumors heard about her!! Yes, she talks fast, but just record the lecture and fill in anything you missed. It's tough but you really know your stuff after a course with her!
She's definitely one of my favorite teachers. Very informative. Funny. But she does make you work hard, its for your own good if you want to be a nurse. Her class is definitely a "weeding out" class, meaning a lot of people fail out. SO WORK HARD, that's all she asks. To pass: read the book, rewrite notes, study EVERYDAY including weekends.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Worst teacher... loves to fail. Says she is willing to help but says you don't work hard enough. Kozak doesn't care about her students. Worst teacher I've ever had. Highest grade anyone got on her tests was a 95. Doesn't curve.
Kozak is awesome! I was worried about taking the class with her at first but she really cares about each of her students no matter if you are failing or getting an A. She makes you think a lot. I honestly think people who complain about her are the people who don't have a good work ethic and just want everything handed to them. She's awesome!
Test is unrelated to the lecture or her power point. Impossible to get an A no matter how hard you try...
Everyone complains about Professor Kozak, but I didn't think it was that bad. She does talk fast so taking notes can be tough, however, if you fail it is your own fault for not studying. The final is super easy, test can be hard if you don't study and review A+P.
If you want to do well in the nursing program I highly recommend taking her. She prepares you for the classes you will be taking in the future and is a fantastic intelligent teacher. she knows her stuff!
She is hard but she knows her stuff.
Disappointing. Does not use objective test questions. Will not post PPTs. Not an organized course at all. She is good at talking, gives entertaining lectures but that's it.
Dr. Kozak's class is requires a lot of time and effort. All quizzes are fill in and no word bank and tests are more application then memorization. I actually dropped out of nursing after this class. Kozak is really understanding and generally cares about her students though and is willing to talk to you about anything that might be troubling you.
So disorganizedunprofessional. can't believe how much $tuition for a class wout standardsobjectives. No rationales for exam qa. Being tested on HER interpretation hierarchy of material. Won't find it in text book. Patho is supposed to be about WHY. She rattles off a bunch of WHATs to memorize. Goodbye Lewis Nursing Withdrawing after finals
She's a great teacher. Hard as hell but a great teacher. Hardest class and teacher I've ever taken but she makes you feel like you're smart and actually learning
Easily the toughest of the 3 professors available to take for Anatomy. Her tests her a lot of application-type problems. If you want to succeed in this class, it's very possible but you have to put a lot of work and studying into it. It's a tough class but Dr. Kozak is always available and willing to help you whenif you need it.
Hardest teacher I've ever had. Doesn't care that half of the class is failing. All quizzes are fill in the blank or essay. Tests are all multiple choice but that doesn't really matter because they're impossible anyway. If you can avoid taking her, do it.
She is an amazing professor. She makes everything make sense but you do have to study a lot in order to get a good grade.
Dr. Kozak really knows what she is talking about. Her lectures are very interesting. This was the hardest class that I have ever taken. I am a straight A student, but this class challenged me. Dr. Kozak was always available to talk and really wanted her students to succeed. I learned more from this class than any other class.
I took Dr. Kozak for A+P 1 my freshman year. I was initially overwhelmed by the material and I had to come up with new study patterns. I managed to squeak by with a 79% C after working very hard. It is not impossible to do well in her class, just know you will have to put in your best work. She has very interesting stories and you will learn a TON!
Dr. Kozak is by far one of the hardest professors I have had. That being said, I did walk out of her class with better study techniques and I did learn my material. This is a class that you do have to take time to study for but it will be worth your time. Dr. Kozak does care about her students and wants you to pass but she also wants you to learn.
Dr. Kozak is very knowledgeable and gives very interesting lectures, but be prepared to work. If you're not a hard worker, do not take this class. She does not spoon feed you anything, but she cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I would definitely recommend recording her lectures to make note taking easier. Best teacher ever
I took her for A&P 1, I'm a Nursing major. She WILL NOT BABY YOU. YOU MUST WORK FOR THE GRADE YOU WANT. I passed her class with an A- because I worked VERY hard & studied everyday. Record & listen to her lectures more than once to understand the material. Take notes! I've learned SO MUCH from her. Cant wait to take her again for A&P 2 & Pathology.
This class was terrible and unorganized would not recommend this to anyone ever
Really bad experience in this class
I had Dr. Kozak for AP 1&2. Her lectures were informative and always gave a real life example for each subject we learned. She will always help and answer your questionsThis class DOES require you to sit down and study at least 1-2 hours each day, which helped on quizzes/exams. I learned a lot in this class and it taught me how to study properly.
Awful awful awful. Very disorganized and would ask students to come in early because she isn't on time with lecture. She didn't follow the syllabus because she was always behind and the test dates were pushed back. If you're in nursing she will try to weed you out if not doing well. Terrible example of a teacher. DO NOT TAKE
There will be a lot of homework and studying, you may hate this class but you will learn a lot of information that is useful. I had her for A&P 1 and 2 so I know that it can be difficult but she will make sure you are knowledgeable when you leave that class.
The hardest teacher you will take. Do not recommend her! Took for Anatomy and Physiology 1 for Nursing and it was the worst decision. If you would like to pass nursing, you have to get 16/20 on quizzes. Half of the class is failing and she doesn't care and tells you to study MORE: 15+ hours a week. The amount I studied did not matter. Save yourself
Dr. Kozak is extremely knowledgeable, however this course is made way too difficult by her for a first semester nursing class. I have always done well in my science courses before this course. The tests do not really coincide with her lectures.
Her anatomy class is really hard so you have to study but her lectures are amazing. She is really funny and I learned and retained so much. I dont have her for anatomy 2 because it doesnt fit with my schedule but I wish I could and Im definitely taking her for pathophysiology.
Dr. Kozak will make you a better student, but don't be discouraged if you receive a C. Your success is dependent on taking meticulous notes in lecture and reading the textbook. Dr. Kozak gives quizzes, usually twice weekly. They are fill in the blank but are much herder than you'd think. She is tough but you learn more than you ever have before.
Patho is one of the hardest classes I have ever taken but kozak really knew how to teach the material in a way that I could understand it and explain it to to others. The tests were hard but if you study everyday for 2 hours you should be fine. Listen to her recordings. She is caring towards her students and is approachable.
She is a hard teacher but a good one. She is very smart and expects alot from her students. I took her nursing A&P 1 and am signing up for her class second semester. You will be ahead of the students in the other classes. I came in with no background A&P knowledge and everyone warned me about her but she really is an amazing teacher
Her tests are off of her lectures. Purposely puts trick questions. Reads off the powerpoint during lecture, and will not give students powerpoints, claims that is "spoon feeding". Runs out of time during lecture and rushes through material. Gave 2 points of extra credit the entire semester. The list goes on. Avoid at all costs.
Dr. Kozak was the toughest teacher I have ever had. I put countless hours into studying for her class & still didn't pass. Don't take that the wrong way, though: Kozak's one of the best profs I've had. She does a great job & you learn A LOT, but the tests are nearly impossible to pass. 14 of 24 kids failed. Might be smart to go a different route.
I mean shes a decent teacher, lecturer for sure, but it almost seems as if she wants her students to fail. She claims that anatomy isnt easy as her way out of saying I guess I didnt do my job as a professor do yourself a favor and dont even think about taking her class.
Dont take her. Dont take her. Dont take her. Dont take her. She can careless about you. Wants you to fail her course because she doesnt believe in having a life. Does not cut anyone slack. All quizzes and test based and they are hard. even if you study for hours. fill in the blank quizzes dont take her.
Over half of the class failed. Her tests are ridiculously difficult, even if you study for hours on end. Even though majority of the class was failing, she only offered 2 points of extra credit for the entire semester. Avoid this professor at all costs, this class will make you miserable
Dr Kozak is a great professor and cares about her students, but her exams are TOUGH! Be ready to read the book cause her lectures alone won't cut it. A lot of what's on the lecture are not on the exam. Her class forces you to actually learn about Patho.
Dr. Kozak is a great teacher and really knows what she is talking about. She gives entertaining lectures and cares about her students. Don't get me wrong, her class is difficult and her exams are hard. You have to dedicate a lot of time outside of class to do well in this class. I would take another class by her. You will learn a lot by taking her.
Exams are hard. Questions are not straightforward and meant to trick you. Does not share powerpoints. Be prepared to take lots of notes and record the lectures so you can listen again in case you missed something while you were furiously trying to jot down everything she said. Best of luck if you decide to take her. You will need it.
At least 1-2 quizzes every week, doesn't put them in the grade book until end of semester. SUPER hard tests, questions aren't clear. Lectures pretty much every day. There was one test that she said you need to study for more than 5 DAYS to do well..
Flies through note slides without giving us a chance to write them down. Lecture heavy. fill in the blank quizzes. Bashes classroom for not studying enough. Just please avoid taking her if you can.
Extremely hard class, avoid her if you can. Lectures and flies through powerpoints, you will not retain any information she is talking about because of how quickly she goes through everything. 1-2 very hard quizzes every single week, tests are difficult to understand.
Professor Kozak is a very tough professor. She makes you work hard and think in a way you never thought was possible. This class is not easy. You must study daily to even have a chance of passing. Her tests are extremely challenging and just memorizing information will not work for her class. However, overall she did make me a better student.
I took Kozak and got the BARE MINIMUM grade to pass.. ngl she knows her stuff and is VERY knowledgable but often gives too much information and expects you to "know and remember everything that every comes out of her mouth" People say it is good to take her to prepare yourself for patho, I am taking the other prof next semester. GOOD LUCK CHARLIE.
This class is impossible. Quizzes are all fill in the blank and written answers, tests are hard. No extra points cumulative grades are only from quizzes and tests. Lecture heavy talks fast, and does not give you powerpoint. She tells you to expect a C at the highest. Do not take this professor if you want to pass.
Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! She does not TEACH you anything. You basically have to self teach yourself all the material, and Patho is already one of the hardest subjects to take. Take a professor that would like to see their students succeed, not struggle.
Dr. Kozak is the hardest teacher I have ever had, yet the best teacher I ever had. She demands the most of her students. Leaving her class I know more than any other student who took the same class with other professors and I learned how to study and learn in a classroom. You will either love her or hate her. She lowered my GPA but I know my stuff.
I took dr. Kozak for a&p 1 and 2 and pathophysiology. If you are a nursing major TAKE HER. she will prepare you so much for nursing. she really makes you learn her material and it will help you so much in the nursing program & clinical. its hard but record, redo your notes and put in the time and you will be fine. anyone who says other didn't try.
A really tough teacher for already a really tough class. You will need to study almost every day for an hour, but you will know your stuff and how to study. I recommend taking her but get prepared to work.
I took Dr. Kozak for Intro to Human Bio. She is a very nice lady but a very tough teacher. Her lectures are insightful and informative, but you MUST study daily in order to pass the quizzes and exams. She makes you work for it. Pay attention in class, take good notes, get extra help, and you should be fine. She's hard, but cares about everyone.
DO. NOT. TAKE!!!! She has fill in the blank quizzes every Friday and you only get 15 minutes to do them. Tests are impossible since she just reads off the powerpoint slides from the book publisher. Lectures are HEAVY. Doesn't actually teach anything. Exams are so hard considering OVER half the exam she does not cover. AVOID AT ALL COST POSSIBLE!!!
Dont listen to anything this lady says. Shes extremely rude and doesnt give you correct information. Make sure to read the textbook, and find a different lecturer on YouTube that follows the textbook. You can do it, just focus on knowing and understanding the information without listening to her. You dont need her. You just need to take her exa
DO NOT TAKE KOZAK. DO NOT. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. SHE WILL MAKE YOU HATE YOUR EXISTENCE. Nobody likes her. The people who do probably get paid. Give any of your nursing professors your patho exam and i can GUARENTEE you they wont be able to answer any of the questions on the exam. Dont go in and talk to her either, shes not helpful
I wouldnt even call her a teacher. Shes horrible.
Lectures are confusing! She explains things wrong & 5 minutes later, while on another topic, corrects herself. Teaches at highschool level, but tests at a doctorate level. Does not follow book. If you aren't early to her class- then you're late. expect her to lecture beyond the time class ends. Not very approachable & has unrealistic expectations.
This was the hardest class ive ever taken. You basically have to teach yourself and the information is complicated. she tells stories rather than teaching the information. Quizzes are fill in the blank with no word bank off of 40 pages chapters. Tests are hard and I studied so much but still did bad. Her teaching style just wasnt for me.
if you need this credit, TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE. her material is useful and informative yes, but she needs to CHANGE old teachings habits bc students are failing her course and all she does is calls students stupid and barely puts effort in to help. many students have attempted to contact the dean on biology and nothing has been done for change.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Worst professor ever! does not care about passing students, more than half the class is failing yet nothing is being done. Got mad at our class and made us leave without reviewing the other chapter for the exam next week. She needs to be fired. Tests are IMPOSSIBLE even nursing professors wouldnt be able to answer them correctly.
Just avoid. Not a good teacher. Take someone different if you can or better yet, go to a different school. Lectures were confusing and there was too much backtracking on her part. Tests didnt reflect the lectures either.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! She is a good teacher and knows her stuff but she expects for everyone to be like her! I Studied every day and even weekends! It was so hard to pass this class! I tried to talk to her and she did not help! The test and quizzes are very hard and she wants you to record her. Do not take this class with her! DO NOT take it!!!!!!!!
Kozak gets a bad rep for patho because it is a very difficult class. You need to work extra hard- studying every single day to pass, buts it's doable and you will learn so much in her class if you put the work in
To say the least, absolutely worst professor at Lewis. She fails atleast 80% of her students every single semester and does not feel guilty for it at all. Lewis also does nothing about it either! I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING HER AT ALL. Honestly if she's your only option, just transfer at that point. You can put so much time into patho and do bad. GL!
I took patho with Kozak and it was awful. she didn't teach the material and expected you to know it at the deepest level when her lectures at best were surface level. She never responded to the emails I sent. Her exams covered nothing of what was taught in class. She is awful in my opinion. The book was awful and no help it was super confusing. GL
Dr. Kozak does not care about helping her students to pass. She acts in a very controlling and power hungry manner. Its almost like she wants her students to fail. Doesnt teach, no homework, no extra credit, doesnt give out her notes, quizzes and exams are made extremely difficult when they dont need to be. In other words.. run! Shes awful.
Get ready to breathe, eat, and live A&P. Quizzes/Exams have to be studied at least for a few days in advance and are difficult. She is a tough grader as well, must know tiny details. Anything Dr, Kozak talks about during the lecture expect to be quizzed on it.
Her exams are impossible. She gives her students no powerpoints and when she lectures it is extremely unorganized and confusing. You have to record her and listen to her all over again and take notes. You have to go over the material a million times because she expects you to learn it to her level. Avoid her! she will make your life MISERABLE.
She is clearly very intelligent, but she can't teach patho very well. The way she presents the info is so disorganized and all over the place. Even though I spend 40+ hrs/week studying, I still barely passed. She expects you to know the info as well as she does despite JUST starting nursing courses. Half my class dropped bc of this professor.
I took Kozak for A&P and it was extremely hard. I felt like I was drowning. Her teaching style is different from other teachers. Expect to give more than 100% to pass.
Definition of "I tried to scream but my head was underwater". Will ruin your mental health. All I ever wanted to be was a nurse & she completely ruined it for me. I passed her anatomy + lab (barely) but that was because I taught myself. I switched majors because she's honestly the devil of the nursing program. Before her, I was an A student- Now...
Her quizzes and tests are very hard and contain a ton of information. But her lectures are so interesting. She knows a lot and is very intelligent. I barley passed her class, but I learned so much and she is a lot more interesting than the other A&P teachers I've had. If you take her, your going to study more than you ever have.
I was very scared taking Dr.Kozak for Anatomy 1 after reading these reviews but honestly she is not bad at all. Anatomy is not supposed to be easy you have to put in the time and effort to pass (there is no easy way out) especially if you plan to go into the health field. Dr.Kozak wants you to learn and understand Anatomy. I really liked her.
Worst professer you will ever take. I had a mental breakdown every single week from her class. You have to study minimum 3 hours every day just to barely pass her tests. Gives no homework but that means all points come from the tests which are HARD! Prepare to work so hard in this class. She was one of the reasons why I transferred.
If you are going into the health field take Dr. Kozak! I was skeptical at first after reading her reviews but she is so intelligent and tells a lot of her clinical experience in lecture. She makes you work hard but it is definitely not impossible and you will learn SO much from her. She cares a lot about her students and I am so glad I took her!
She is nice and knows her stuff very well but if you don't want to eat, sleep, and breathe this subject or it is not related to your major then I recommend kindly skipping over this professor.
she is tough but so smart and pushes you to work harder. she is great at teaching especially if you are going into this field. you learn so much.
In lab, she expects you to know something automatically. Will spend most of her time with one group and leave the rest of us hanging. just gave us a list of structures and that was it. some activities were also irrelevant to what we were going over.
She does NOT lecture on anything in lab and you basically have to find all the structures on your own and hope that's what's on the practical. The way the practical is set up is so weird and stressful. She pins the structures on a real pig and its 5 stations and everyone just waits in line. Take Pifer, hers are online practicals and clearer.
I took Dr. Kozak for A&P 1 and 2 and she was amazing! Despite all the things you'll read on here, she really wants you to learn and benefit from her class and is super nice. You will have to study everyday and put the work in for the grade you want, but if your going into the health care field I highly recommend taking her!
Dr. Kozak is an amazing professor that truly wants her students to learn beyond her class. She may come off tough but you will learn so much in her class! Put in the time and effort and you will be just fine! People that say otherwise just weren't motivated enough. No homework but study everyday! It is not as bad as people on here write!
Dr. Kozak did not teach in lab at all, she relied on you to self teach. This could've worked for some students but personally it wasn't the best for me. There were times where you could come into the lab after class but she was not specific on when it was open and said to just sign up with her assistant. Her practicals were on actual models.
In terms of A&P Lab 1, Kozak was a fine instructor. A lot of the work was her telling us the information that we need to learn in class and then letting us individually learn the material. However, in some demonstrations, such as dissection or reflex, she would demonstrate how to properly do the lab. She does grade tough, but it is necessary.
She prepares you for your nursing classes; I had her for A&P labs 1 & 2. Yes, the tests are hard, but she gives you a list of everything that is on it; you have the answers, you need to memorize them. I wish she did more instruction and demo tho, instead of saying "who learns better: the person driving or the passenger?" when you ask for help.
Kozak is most definitely tough on her students, but she cares about what she teaches. Make sure to listen to what she says in lectures and not what is on the power point. You will do fine if you put in the time and effort.
Dr. Kozak was amazing! She was unlike what most people said on here. I took gen bio and there was no bio majors in my class so she went kinda easy. She included fun experiments for most of the units that helped better connect students and with the topics. She was clear with her expectations and rules. Dont let the reviews scare you!
