Professor is really relaxed and funny. Attendance is important, but participating is fun and easy. Do the reading!
This was what I thought to be my most dreaded class, but it turned out to become my absolute favorite for this semester! This teacher does not have any quizzes in her class, because she has her homework in the form of a small handful of essays with a large amount of time to complete them! I would highly recommend this instructor to anyone!
Ms. Larakers is understanding and helpful. She teaches you alot but class is fun and never boring. Our work was mostly essays.
Great teacher! About 4 essays ( 2 mini essays included) and a final group presentation. Reading for each class (class discussions) and online homework ( due every 2 wks). With that being said, the reading was mostly essays on pop culture which made the class very interesting. Lectures helped strengthen my writing. A class on pop culture! Must take!
Very helpful teacher. I had her for a 16-week course that, honestly, could've been done in eight weeks. The paper topics weren't hard, and she watered them down to be understood easily. Always had a positive attitude.
Ms. Larakers is a great professor. She clearly explains what she wants and is very fast at responding emails. For the summer course I took online, there were 3 essays which was 75% of the overall grade; the homework was 15% and the connect program was the final 10%. She also gives really good constructive criticism on the essays.
Allot of work! I will never take a online English class gain.
This prof puts more work into her online classes than a lot of other profs do. She has video lectures that tell you how to do everything. She gives really good feedback. Take her class if you want to learn to write a good essay.
I took her FOUR week English class. Very doable HOWEVER, except homework. There were probably 10-15 steps, small homework assignments that will help you with the big projects like the THREE ESSAYS due. I love how Ms. Larakers adds everything up in her course like A+BC MEME QUEEN! LOVE IT!
She's awesome, just make sure to do all of your work. ON TIME
Great teacher! Took the 4 week online class; had a lot going on, so didn't do as well as I should have. She was great though, lectures helped a lot! Class focuses on pop culture (:
Ms. Larakers gives good feedback and cares about the students success. I was 12 years removed from taking an English class and she went over topics in her lectures that someone in English 102 should already know. I appreciated that. She gives you all the knowledge you need to succeed. Her lectures aren't boring and she creates hilarious memes!
I took this in the online 4 week course and although it was a lot of work to do, she broke it down fairly well. Some things she says weren't entirely clear, but she's always willing to help. She comments on everything and tries to interact with you as well. The readings weren't bad and the essays were straightforward. Great professor!
This teacher was one of the best teachers I have EVER had! She was very helpful in answering my questions about everything and anything. I would take this class again, but only with this teacher! If you want a great teacher take her class.
Professor Larakers is amazing. This is not an easy course, but ultimately it was very gratifying. There were times during this course that I questioned my ability to write on the level that was expected of me. That is the beauty of Professor Larakers and this course. She helps you get to where you need to be. Work hard and get a good grade.
Discussions and lectures in class, reading quizzes online. Lectures and discussions are fun, mostly because of her humor. You have to do the reading, but the exams and essays are straightforward and easy if you do the work.
She is an amazing teacher and i highly recommend her as a teacher. I've learned a lot in her class and had an enjoyable experience throughout the jouney
This teacher is amazing. She is very helpful, and her grading material makes things very easy to understand. She accepts late work which is helpful if you have a busy schedule, but you will lose some points turning it in late. Her video lectures are awesome, makes it feel like you're really in class with her even though you're online.
This prof is the best. Prof. Larakers is funny and entertaining, but she teaches you what you need to know to succeed. I took her online course, and it was not easy, but it was worth it because my writing really improved. The memes and pop culture focus kept my interest.
Was a great prof! She does give a lot of work and readings, but most of them are easy. She is very clear on the instructions on anything we have to do, and if we need help she always replies within 10-15 minutes. Always gives good feed back on papers!
Ms larakers is awesome! she is very clear with her teaching and gives great feedback in the essays. There are four essays. With the last one, we watched a movie and did the essay in class as the final exam. i
Professor Larakers is a really great teacher. There is homework due every Sunday at midnight with 4 essays throughout the semester. If you don't slack off you'll pass with an A.
Professor Larakers is a really great teacher. There is homework due every Sunday at midnight with 4 essays throughout the semester. If you don't slack off you'll pass with an A. There is a lot of group work but its usually towards the end of the class.
Really informative class so far. Expect reading (a lot), but the memes are fun and the prof wants you to do good.
Overall outstanding teacher, very clear spoken and has a wacky personality which is great. Not like other teachers who are boring when they speak. Make sure you take notes in her class she explains her lectures very well. Expect homework due every sunday night by midnight.
Mrs. Larakers is funny. If you have another class your taking though, be prepared to struggle. You read roughly 40-65 pages per week. Some are hard to understand while others are fun. There are exams on what you read every week + a quiz on a video lecture. She is great if you don't have other classes. She keeps you very tight scheduled with work.
I always found myself much happier after leaving her class no matter how bad my day was. She's such a great instructor I will be taking her literature Class next semester. I have had a problem with my writing for so long and she seems glad to help and explain in better detail I wish I took her for English 101
Weekly readings, quizzes and discussions. The exams are easy if you use her study guides. The video lectures make the readings easier to understand. I expected to dread this class, but it was fun. she gives extra credit
Wonderful class. But,LOTS OF WORK!!! Not the online class I was expecting. Should've just taken the actual class instead. Very time consuming so don't over do your course load with this class... She loves cat memes; actually memes in general. Her material is relatable and she's very understanding if you have an issue. I'd recommend this class.
I would take her again, but I don't need any more English classes for my major. There are easier professors, I suppose, but I like learning and she really does make it fun. She really likes for us to have fun too and gets really excited.
Just wonderful! Her lectures are very informative, she is quick to respond if you are having troubles, and when she grades essays she gives the best help I have ever seen to keep you from making the same mistakes twice. One of the best professors I've ever had. Wish she taught Literature as well, I would take her again! She really taught and well!
Professor Larakers is the best. Her class is very well organized and should be a model for all online classes. Her lectures are wonderful with a GREAT sense of humor. A lot of work but well worth it. Expect to read and be able to discuss and write about what you have read that week. I can't say enough good things about her. She cares. PERFECTION!
Prof. Larakers is legit. I loved this class, and I learned so much. It's fun and it will make you smarter. MEME QUEEN!
For the first time, I am confident in my writing skills thanks to Larakers. She gives feedback that helps with essays, and will guide you in your research if you ask her after class. She went to the library and helped me check out good sources for my topic, and 102 is easy after her class.
She is an amazing teacher. I took her for English 100 & 102.
She's honestly an amazing professor. I wish I could take more classes with her just for her lectures. There's a lot of reading involved and the unit tests are done online. there's a quiz on the reading due before class and one paper due at the end of the course.
I took the online class. It was easy to follow and I liked how all the work was organized into steps. Professor answered my emails quickly and gave good feedback. There are four papers and weekly homework. Keeping up with the homework really helps your essay grade. She gives extra credit.
I feel I learned a lot. Professor Larakers makes video lectures that you have to watch, and then you'll have homework where you practice your skills. There are 4 essays. The memes make the assignments more fun. Great prof!
Larakers is the best professor! TAKE HER!
Elizabeth is energetic and funny. Even at 8 am she's ready to teach enthusiastically. She's very clear on what she expects and gives good feedback. We hardly ever used the textbook
She has been hands down my favorite professor I've had at CSN and this is my 3rd and final year. She made class fun and would wake everyone up. Never had a more fun and exciting class. Take her for all of your English courses!!
Professor Larakers is an amazing instructor. She is open minded, thoughtful, funny, helpful, and kind. I would definitely take her again, and I actually currently am. She makes you participate and get involved in the classroom. You have to do the work, but other than that, she is the best professor I have had so far!
Interesting class on food and literature. Professor is laid back but will give you points for doing the reading and keeps up with grading in a timely manner.
Awesome prof! I took her for 102, and her lit class is fun and pretty easy.
Great class! I learned a lot, which isn't always the case with English classes. The essays have clear directions, and the homework counts for a lot of your grade. I would take this professor again.
I love Larakers! She is an amazing prof. and really is fun and interesting. The reviews are true, she is great. The lectures and discussions are interactive and easy to follow. You will have to do the reading but its a lit class lol. The readings and quizzes are easy and simple. TAKE HER!!!!
Ms. Larakers is so enthusiastic about what she teaches, it is hard not to be energized while sitting in her class. Lots of variety in the reading. Keep a dictionary handy because vocabulary counts. Short answer quizzes are a favorite. Most work is turned in online. Excellent class.
She is a great teacher that has truly made me a better writer. Four different essays and quite a few weekly assignments.
There was never a dull moment in this class! There is obviously going to be a lot of reading since it is a literature class, but the readings are very interesting and discussions on the readings are interactive. The quizzes and exams are all online. I would take her again if I needed another Eng course. I really recommend this class.
Of the two class days of the week, one is lecture day and the other is group discussion day. Attendance is part of your grade and there is a quiz for every assigned reading. It seems like a lot but the class is fairly easy and the almost daily discussions are very useful. She does the lectures so you can relate to the reading more and understand it
I have had Larakers for two classes now, as have so many other students. She is a great professor who actually cares about her students enough to make even the quietest students participate. She has good political views and isn't afraid to speak her mind in a respectful manner. I recommend her to anyone who needs to take any English classes.
Awesome teacher. Requires you to be open minded to things you are not comfortable with.
Prof. Larakers is an awesome teacher! I would definitely take her for all and any English courses you need. As long as you do the reading, work, and participate, you should get a good grade! Her lectures are fun and she's hilarious. She is always willing to help and answer any questions you have. Make sure to not procrastinate, especially online.
Ms. Larakers is an awesome teacher! The class is not hard at all, as long as you read the material, which is fun to read. She does have 3 exams that are pretty much your whole grade and they consist of the weekly test. So make sure you do a great job with your weekly test (mostly writing), so that you can rely on the previous test for your 3exams.
Very laid back grader when it comes to essays. There is a lot of reading from the text book but what do you expect from an online class?
I look forward to going to this class. Professor Larakers always has good energy, and the lectures are entertaining. Good readings, and just the right amount of work to make sure you're doing the reading. Reading is mandatory.
Awesomeness.
I can't say enough good things about Professor Larakers. She's smart and she cares. Take her!!
I took this professor this semester and her class was always fun, which is weird because English isn't my favorite subject. I'm taking her class for my literature requirement next semester. She will make you think outside the box, and probably have a meme about it.
She was a excellent instructor she gave lots of good feedback. Which i will use in future English classes and if i take her for another eng i will also use the skills she taught me
I took this class by mistake, but I'm glad I did. You have to do the reading, but it's mostly interesting, and Professor Larakers will explain everything. She is hilarious, and I loved all the different outfits she would wear. Discussions in class made the time pass quickly.
Took this for summer! There was lots of reading & writing so get ready! She has lectures online, & while I love that she's so enthusiastic, some of them were SO long! The midterm & final are all short answer & there were 1-3 quizzes a week. Weekly discussions, which are also important. Do your work & you will do great! Even offers EC! Amazing Prof!
I took this professor online. Her video lectures are easy to understand. For her online class there are 4 essays. She gives 3-6 assignments per week for homework but everything she has you do will lead to you writing a better essay. I would recommend taking her.
I loved this lit class. I will admit that I usually enjoy reading, and there is a lot of reading, but what do you expect from a literature class? The professor uses about half lecture and half discussion, and asks thought provoking questions. I would definitely recommend this class.
She was amazing. By far, my best English professor here at CSN. She is funny, makes class enjoyable, and is very clear on what she expects. We read about 4 books, we watched movies after every book, and I did not dread going to class, tbh. We did a food project (which everyone was scared for, but ended up loving) and 3 exams as our MAJOR grades.
3 open book exams taken on canvas. 1 group project (easy). Lots of reading for homework (varying difficulty), 10 point quiz for all readings on canvas, and discussions about reading in class. Grades on participation but just showing up to class will give you full points. Class is either discussion or lecture. All quiz and exams taken on canvas.
Professor Larakers is definitely on of the greatest teachers I've had at CSN. She actually cares about the subject she teaches and creates a very welcoming environment during discussions. There is lots of reading for World Literature II but only about one or two of the assigned readings were long, the rest were easy. I'd definitely take her again!
She is one of the best English professors I ever had! Just can't say enough good things about her, she is caring towards each one of her students. This class in the beginning we do have to read short stories for discussion or a quiz. Wrote 3 papers plus 1 that's just a bibliography for the research essay. Emails are replied within a timely manner.
I only took this class to fulfill my literature requirement, but I ended up loving it. It was fast paced and a lot of reading, but I learned a lot of really practical information about food and where it comes from. I would recommend this course to anyone who needs their lit credit, or to foodies. Prof is great.
Great teacher, can't say enough. Sad she isn't teaching 102. Took this course online. Good amount of work but it's all interesting and useful to help you with your essays. Easy A if you stay on top of the work! Recommend all the way!
This class was definitely a learning experience as she provided amounts of work and lectures. I do appreciate her teaching strategies but feel as though she does give way too much work. I enjoyed what I learned but wish she would simplify the work. You will definitely be doing a lot throughout this course and need to apply all your time to pass.
Such a difficult class. You will need to focus when taking this course and she is a tough grader!!!
I loved this class. If you don't want to read the material, don't sign up for this literature class though. You can find an easier prof, but probably not one that will try harder to interact with you and make the material fun. The class isn't that hard if you keep up with the work.
Great class! All the exams and quizzes are online. We did discussions in class. Professor Larkers is pretty chill, and gave me more time to get work done when I was going through some personal stuff. Take her!!
Great teacher with a lot of video lectures and about 20-50 pages a week to read for quiz. If you read the book each week you will pass the quiz, that easy.
Professor Larakers was by far the best professor I've had at CSN. I learned so much from her. Although I took the class online, you can tell she has an outgoing personality because she makes video lectures. She also answers emails promptly and is kind to students. I am taking another literature class with her next semester.
I just finished Professor Laraker's ENG100 course. Fantastic instructor! She LOVES memes, and attaches them to every assignment. Clear instructions and expectations. She gives excellent feedback that is helpful. Had to write 3 essays. A book is chosen for the class, with quizzes each week. Would definitely take her course again.
Great class. The work is clearly explained and laid out. If you keep up with the reading, do the quizzes, and make time for the exams, it's pretty easy to do well. Would take again.
Unlike some professors, this teacher gives lots of constructive feedback. The readings were interesting and the directions for homework and essays were clear and easy to understand. Would take again.
Shes beyond amazing, I took Professor Larakers for Eng 102, 223 & 231. I don't regret it one bit I learned so much from her & she's there if you ever need help. She makes class fun & the literature she picks is wonderful. If I was still at CSN & she offered other Eng courses I would take it in a heartbeat. Three papers & regular class discussions
You will have four papers, discussions post every week, and have to read a book of her choice. Very good class I feel. She preps you a lot for each and every paper, she posts videos on what for example an intro looks like. And replys very quick to emails, and messages from canvas. Take her class! You will learn a lot.
She does give a lot of homework but the homework is what prepares you to do well on the papers. She required 3 papers and 1 annotated bib. Her lectures are interesting and fun. She replies very quickly!
The single best English teacher I have ever taken in my entire schooling career. She makes the topics very interesting, and I honestly changed my perspective on life because of one of the two classes I took with her. She cares about her students. If you put in effort, you will pass.
So long as you turn in your homework by the end of the week and a good majority of it, too, you'll pass. She's lenient with grades (i.e. late work) and is understanding. She's really nice too.
Do not take this class if you do not have time to read nightly. The professor is nice, accepts late work, and is a fair grader. However, the class will drain you. The books youll read with become more interesting as the semester progresses. But, get ready for constant reading and dumb discussions one after another.
She is the best professor I've had at CSN. She cares about her students, is passionate and knowledgeable about the material, and is super kind. This class legit made me see the world in a different way. I would take her again 100%. Do not take if you don't like thinking.
Great professor but lots of work. I took the 8 week online class, we had about 5 assignments due per week. 3 papers, a few quizzes. Watch the video lectures, they help. She responds to emails quickly. Not a hard grader and everything is laid out for you. She's great but I wouldn't recommend her class, especially if you are taking other classes.
This class was fun, way more fun that I thought it was going to be. There is lots of reading, but I expected that. Professor has a great, easy going personality. 3 exams, a video project, and weekly homework about the readings.
Great class. You have to do the reading, but most of them aren't hard. Discussions are fun and weirdly so are lectures. Take her!
Prof Larakers is amazing! She always gives great feedback, answers emails quickly, and is very well-rounded. There is quite a bit of homework each week but it's fairly easy Read a book throughout semester 3 papers due total (2 you pick what about, the other is on a book you read) ranging 2-5 pages Would totally take again!!
Prof Larakers is AMAZING! I took her online ENG223 Cooking & Culture class. I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but she makes learning fun and interesting. She provides lecture videos with PowerPoints that are very helpful. There is a LOT of reading. I work full-time, so I utilized audio-books. A lot of hwk, but easy to get through.
Great Teacher!!! I took her online and it was super easy. 4 essays total. replies back fast, and easy grader. Best English professor!
Easy assignments and tests as long as you do the reading and take your time for tests. She's one of the best professors I've ever had. I took her in person and she is a big Liberal and has very open convos about social issues. You can only miss a max of 4 classes. One big partner project but many group discussions.
I wish I had more English classes to take with her. If you have the opportunity to select her as your professor do it! You will not regret it. I never once felt like I was bothering her with my questions. She cares about her students and their success. The homework is easy as long as you keep up. Take her course!
I took her class on Stephen King, and I'm glad I did. It was a lot of reading, but all the books great and the discussions made class time go fast. Great professor, not to easy and not too hard. 2 exams and lots of reading quizzes.
Her 223 class is about cultures of cooking, I was skeptical when I selected it but I'm so glad I did. Theres 4 books to read throughout the semester and responses and quizzes each week about them. There are 3 exams total and a food project, where you get to video yourself eating or cooking food from another country. Lots of reading but a fun class!
I highly recommend Professor Larakers. She is knowledgeable, organized and puts effort into making class interesting and relatable. We had very open conversations about all kinds of issues in her class, even touchy subjects but it all felt very welcoming and worthwhile. Lots of reading quizzes, 3 exams, and a creative project.
If you get a chance to take one of her classes, do it. My online class with her was really organized and she clearly cares about her students. Be sure to use the prep materials for exams, and do the reading, and you'll do well.
I still think this professor is better than most others but I think shes overpraised in here. Lots of assignments/lecture and some can be extremely long. Ive noticed that long assignments tend to come when we read anything that is Christianity (which is about 30-40% of class), Odessey, or Medieval times. Light grader on quizzes, heavy on exams.
I liked how organized the class was. Some readings were long, but almost all were interesting. Great profesrror.
Professor Larakers class was enjoyable. I took her cooking & culture class over the summer so it was very assignment heavy but it was doable. Super easy as long as you read the books and do the assignments. 3 exams and a final cooking & culture project alongside with multiple quizzes following the reading. Overall a fun class.
She is a good professor and has a well organized and structured canvas which is impressive considering how garbage most other professors have set up their canvases for online learning. I do feel like she can be redundant and her videos can get pretty boring quickly, there is a lot to watch/read throughout the semester. Overall, average professor.
If you're looking for a super easy A, you won't find that here. What you will find is a professor who cares about your success and one who takes the time to create a well-structured, interesting course. I've taken both her 223's, and both were good, but Stephen King's Universe was my favorite.
Professor Larakers is awesome! I took ENG100 online and she gave great feedback on my writing and really helped me to become a better writer. There are 4 essays and weekly homework. She gives feedback on thesis statements for each essay that helped me get an A.
One of the greatest professors I've ever had. There are some papers that are worth most of your grade, the most being worth 25% of it. She doesn't provide feedback or an option to edit them but there are tutoring services. Do the homework, it takes 10 minutes max and is worth 30% or more of your grade. Theres one book to read and after a 3-5 Q test
I loved her 100 class! She was nice and was very informative. She helped me inprove my writing ability. I love her!
Lots of work! But if you do the work you shouldn't have a problem. She is a very nice teacher and not tough on grading. Read all the book and you'll do just fine.
Professor Larakers helped me so much with English. It's my least favorite subject but with her as my teacher, I was able to understand it and pass! Professor Larakers' lectures were fantastic and made her expectations easy to understand. The assigned book, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, was also awesome! I loved it.
Professor Larakers is honestly one of the greatest professors one can ever have. If you are not ready for some nice aggressive criticism then I don't know what to tell you. What she wants to see from her students is success and effort and she will do everything she can to get you there. She is so welcoming and sweet that you lowkey can feel at home
She's fantastic and clear in the syllabus. Yes, there is a lot of reading, but I managed to do it even with a full-time job and other classes. Just make it a goal to read every night. There are a couple of assignments per week but they're usually easy and quick. Do the work, do your best on the exams, and take the extra credit opportunities.
Prof Elizabeth does require a lot of reading and there are some movies to watch. I managed to get through the reading my downloading the audio books and listening to them while I worked or driving. I enjoyed the Stephen King books so it wasn't a pain to do. Easy quizzes and two 5 paragraph essays for the semester which were also easy to do.
This class had a lot of course work but it's a dual credit course so that was a given. She gives the BEST feedback and gives such fun lectures that make you want to listen and not sleep. I feel like I learned so much from her!
Professor Larakers is great! Class isn't too hard, and her video lectures were really helpful. She's clear about what she expects and gives useful feedback. Class included reading a book, quizzes, homework, and four essays. I wish she taught ENG 102 so I could choose her class again.
The class is entertaining! I will admit, there is a lot of work, but it is about 3-4 assignments due by the end of the week, which gives plenty of time. I enjoyed her lectures very much as she explains the content very well and what we learned is interesting. One weekly discussion which you can easily complete after the readings.
Professor Larakers is awesome. In the beginning she gives alot of assignments due by Sunday, but towards the end of the semester it is less assignments. Professor Larakers is tech savvy so online was fairly easy. Her expectations are clear in the syllabus. If you ever need any help she does respond back in a timely manner.
Ms Larakers was a great teacher and had amazing video lectures. There were lots of reading and writing papers, but you will learn a lot. Absolutely recommend!
Professor is great and gives clear instructions on what's required. If I had any complaints it would be the amount of reading! WAY TOO MUCH for me personally, honestly became really overwhelmed from it but if you like reading this is definitely the class for you.
Professor Laraker's class is easy! I had it online, the only thing I would complain about is the amount of reading I have to do. Them amount of reading per week is crazy. Read 1-10 chapters a week, a 1-2 side story's and possibly a movie. The movies are good i really enjoyed those. Overall easy class just be ready to read A LOT!!!
Great professor. I have had her for three lit classes, and only the Stephen King had a lot of reading. The World Lit was my favorite. Would recommend 100%
Professor Larakes is a wonderful teacher. I really enjoyed her class. She gave me a different perspective of an English class. She is honest & supportive. I will definitely take her class again and recommend her to anyone. I APPRECIATE YOU PROFESSOR!!!
If I could give Professor Larakers a higher score I would. One of my best professors, hands down, and has made me such a better writer. Her class was a decent amount of work, but not anything one couldn't manage. My class was also a 5-credit class, so I am sure that played a significant role in the amount of work. She's a gem.
I really love this professor and the different topics that we studied, but damn is it a lot of homework. This class was far more demanding than the accelerated courses that I was taking. So much so that I had to drop my second 8-week class to keep up.
Professor Larakers was AMAZING! I took her Stephen King class in the Summer, so of course it was VERY fast paced and there was a lot of reading, but IF you know Stephen King's work then you know it's a lot of reading. She made the class SO great! Her lectures she provided the Summer when I took it was so AMAZING! Loved her lectures and feedback.
Professor Larakers was the best professor I have ever taken. I took English 223 (Stephen King) While there was a lot of homework, and reading, it was so worth it. Her lectures were SO interesting, and she is so helpful if you ever have a problem. She inspired me to read more, and helped me to really enjoy it. 5 stars!!
2 essays (500-1000 words). A lot of reading. Discussion every week. Just do your assignments, and you will be fine.
I took her for summer English 213 class, I love how organized the class is on canvas. I also loved how she had every meme on the lectures and some were funny as well. I would highly recommend her for any English class . If I were to take another English class I would most definitely take her again because shes an amazing and awesome professor.
Best. Professor. Ever. I dreaded taking literature, but ended up loving it. She has so much passion for the texts, and gives you a lot of historical information to help you interpret them. Good vibes.
Hands down. The best Prof. I ever had. The lectures and lessons were incredible. The reading is very very easy, but very very long. Like a lot of reading. A lot. of reading. Other than that, they care about their students very much, and will even get in touch with you if you are missing a few assignments to check in. Overall amazing class.
Hands down. The best Prof. I ever had. The lectures and lessons were incredible. The reading is very very easy, but very very long. Like a lot of reading. A lot. of reading. Other than that, they care about their students very much, and will even get in touch with you if you are missing a few assignments to check in.
This class was so much fun, but so so much reading. Everything is clear and easy to understand. She is also a relatively easy grader.
I loved this teacher so much. Her class was incredibly reading heavy, but novel reading was almost all we did. There were also small lectures and short assignments / discussions. The class really took priority of the actual reading material instead of pumping out essays, which was deeply appreciated.
Chill and cool professor, this class is passable so long as you put the work of reading and participating in class. Then the homework and exams will become a breeze so long as you participate the class and read the books. Reading can be kinda heavy, really Odysseus but after that book reading because a lot lighter. Take this professor
Absolutely one of the best teachers I had in CSN so far I am glad I took this class and learned so much from her. She is hilarious, and a great class, and would definitely take it again.
If you do finish the reading material then that's half the battle, there are a few lectures and an international food project assignment but it shoudln't be all that bad. The professer herself is nice and lenient with the grading. There are a few documentaries and movies to watch and take quizzes on but that's pretty much it.
This is hands down my favorite class that I've yet to take, ever! I took her Stephen King course and even though it is a LOT of reading, it was worth it and I loved every assignment. The books are fantastic and so is her teaching style and set up. I would take this class ever semester if I could! So fulfilling.
(ENG 236) 10/10. So sweet and really easy assignments, lots of reading though.
A book and textbook was needed. Great professor. Extra credit was easy and you should do it. She helped me whenever I needed help and her lectures were amazing. 10/10!!
If you lovee reading, this is the class for you. Unlike me It's not my forte but her class is very engaging, and we have a group project that was very fun to work on (you do have to read a book for it as well). I don't want to give spoilers; her class is fun and if you're like me and don't like to read a lot it may not be for you.
I learned more in this class than any other literature class I've taken. You do have to do the reading, but the professor is engaging and knowledgeable and I respect myself for what I've accomplished this semester.
I took her Cooking & Culture class and enjoyed it. There is a fun project, and the books were easy to read. There was reading, but I didn't think it was too much. Overall, 10/10.
Took the Stephen King class. Clear on what you needed to read for that week. Lots of reading! About 100-200 pages each week but worth it. Got to watch some movie adaptions as well. Then a discussion post.
This is a very good class. Professor Larakers shows up to every class prepared for either a detailed lecture or a group discussion day. Great classroom management.
Cooking and Culture literature class was an easy A. I've taken another class with her and this one was way easier. World Lit is good too.
I took Professor Larakers's summer class and absolutely loved it !! I'm not keen on English, but the texts were interesting and the workload was manageable each week. Discussions are due every Sunday and had engaging questions. Professor Larakers had super interesting and funny lectures, which were my favorite part. Extra credit is here too !!
Professor Larakers' ENG223 is reading-heavy but engaging. The assignments are reasonable, and she's a lenient grader. For study prep, unstuckstudy and classic resources like ChatGPT work well.
Professor Larakers was awesome! She is very funny and engages with your class whether it's discussion days or lecture days. Lots of reading but gives you enough time to complete. Definitely recommend taking her.
You Need 3 books that come in 1 set in order to read the stories required by the course. They aren't long but do require weekly reading. This class has a LOT of discussions talking about the stories but thankfully that isn't graded (if you at least participate in the discussions), only the attendance is. One of the most fun classes I've ever had.
I took this class over the summer and enjoyed it. You have to do the reading, but it's spread out over the course so it's not too much at one time. Great lectures, and no groupwork. Professor cares about students, and is quick to respond to emails.
This is one of my favorite courses I have taken so far! There was lots of reading assigned, but the great teacher and fun assignments made up for it. She is not a harsh grader whatsoever, she simply just wants to help students succeed and learn. From her lectures you can tell she is very intelligent and I really admire that. Take her!
