HARD class, AWESOME professor.
VERY HARD!!!!! UNFAIR AT TIMES
Lots of material, tests get progressively more difficult
Extremely organized. Very tough, though. She is a very good lecturer.
Organized, clear lecturer. Everything you need is in her notes and you have to know EVERYTHING in them for the tests.
Very hard class. Liz is very organized. All the test info is in the notes. You just have to memorize all 200 or so pages of it.
Very Very hard class!! Very nice prof gets bad rep just because class is difficult. Always willing to spend time if you don't understand. Besides it's a weed out class...
she's clear, but very demanding
I like the way this class is set up. The notes and info are straight forward. The tests are not too bad; but you really do need to know EVERYTHING in them.
Good prof. She gives you all the info you need for the tests in the notes. You don't even really need your lecture book if you take good notes. Study, study, study for the test. KNOW EVERYTHING!
Very hard! Very unclear! Covers a lot of material be prepared for a challenge! Would reccomend Peggy Ware over her!
Awesome teacher. Always willing to help and explain things as many times as you need her to.
Excellent organization and lecture.Study notes and will do well.Very nice and helpful. Is very serious about class and getting material lectured.Does not mess around.Hard but you will definately learn alot and retain it!
Talk about organization!!!!! Study your notes verbatim and easy 4.0!!
VERY hard class, but VERY good professor. She really knows her stuff. Getting an A is a definate challenge, but it can be done with a TON of studying.
Very good teacher, as a lab teacher more difficult than other teachers.
Very good as an instructor. Knows her stuff! Study your notes.
This class takes a great deal of reading/studying weekly. A LOT of extra credit is given compared to other courses. Very possible to get an A+ with enough effort. Liz is a great professor.
She's very hard, but I learned a great deal from this class. She's clear and tells you what she exspects from you, but make sure you know everything she tells you. If you are going into a medical field she really prepares you.
Great professor! She gives you all of the information you need to know, as long as you study your notes you will do well with the tests! Always willing to help, wants her students to succeed!
HATED THE CLASS!!!!!!!
Great teacher. She knows her stuff and wants to challenge you to do the same. She is tough, but if you study, you'll learn a ton.
Have fun. This class is very difficult. But Liz makes it fun and easy to catch onto. Just don't fall behind.
This class is designed to fail you.
It's a very difficult class, but she's a good teacher
Try to take this class at another school that wants you to do well. UM-Flint and Malinowski work against you to make sure you fail to weed you our of the health program. Teaches the class at graduate level in order to lower your GPA. Is she a knowledgeable teacher.. yes. However if you care about your GPA than this class is not an option.
Liz is a well organized teacher and I liked her a lot. Her lecture exams weren't too bad, but the lab exams were pretty unclear. She does not identify the structures on the models very well during the lab exam. I really liked her as a lecturer, I learned alot, but her lab exams were very difficult and unclear. Also, the lab quizes are hard too.
Very fair, friendly, and helpful. Hard course, tho, so study!
Liz is a great instruction. She teaches what you need to know for the healthcare field. If you want to actually study like real college people do this is the class for you. You will get your moneys worth that is for sure. Learn everything you can because you will need it in the nursing program. Who wants a nurse that just skimmed through!
Teaches a 100 level class like you are a senior in Harvard medical school. Effective lecturer but it is just too much information, and the class seems like it is designed to weed people out instead of teach people. I just really hate her for doing that, and I hope she gets fired. Highly advise to avoid.
Nightmare, Take this class at Mott.
i love how she is a visual teacher
Lectures are mind numblingly boring. Sure there is a ton of information, with little understanding of the material. Again, lots of material, little physiology. Like a foreign language class where you memorize tons of grammar and vocab, without using it.
A Type-A student's best friend. It is a medical weed-out class but if you want to know your material, she gives you as much as you need to know. Lecture is always the same; every class period you fill in more note pages. Skipping class is not recommended; a LOT of info is given. Scary to a beginning freshman, but if you pay attention, she is nice.
I loved her class! I learned so much. This class is not for the weak. She is challenging yet fair. Whiners and wimps should not take this class.
Class averages on tests were around 55% LIZ is the worst teacher I've ever had. She does not know how to teach. I haven't learned one thing in her class. She should not be a teacher for a 100 level class. She is not helpful or friendly. DO NOT TAKE LIZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! take it somewhere else if you want to pass.
How hard is it to memorize info. for tests? Study your notes, maybe make an outline and you'll do just fine. This class is NOTHING compaired to the nursing program, if you can't handle BIO 167, then you probably couldn't handle the nursing program. Of course this is a weed out class...& it has good reason to be.
Great professor. I never fell asleep during her lectures because she wasn't boring (and also because we were constantly writing!). Expect your hand and wrist to get sore because there are a lot of notes. I had no difficulty when I needed to ask a question; she was always polite and helpful. Definitely a tough class, but Liz teaches it well.
Just memorize the binder and you'll do great. STUDY don't procrastinate and never miss a class. for auditory learners like me, recording the class is a great tool to fill in the blanks. gives incredibly spicific test questions. wants you to pass the class and helps you when you ask for it. can be discouraging and overwhelming, but keep your head up
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST TEACHER EVER!!!!!!!! I HATED HER CLASS BECASUE I DIDNT UNDERSTAND A WORD SHE WAS SAYING.
This is the most difficult class I have ever taken. When Liz speaks I really don't understand what she is talking about. She doesn't have a good attitude. She gives us too much information at a time and it's very overwhelming. The class feels like a graduate level class and that's not the case. Take it at a community college!
Great professor... she is very willing to help. It's easy to get an A, because there is lots of extra credit & the exams aren't bad... just study the your notes & you will be fine! It's tough but it will prepare you for the nursing program...
She is fairly easy as long as you study exactly what is on the notes she gives you.
Fantastic! Exceptionally knowledgable.
Worst professor Ive ever had. Liz should retire already and get it over with.
wort teacher Ive ever had she really needs to retire take this class at Mott if you want to get a real education
I am currently in my second time taking A&P I. The first time, i didnt understand anything that was coming out of her mouth. currently i have a b, and i am still struggling. reccomend to take somewhere else unless you like a low gpa. DO NOT TAKE AS FRESHMAN. everything on test is in the book or course packet. know it or you will fail.
Absolutely fabulous teacher. VERY knowledgeable. Incredibly organized. Everything on the test she goes over on her course packet. Don't miss a class, pay attention, and STUDY THE NOTES and there is no reason that you should not pass this class. Plenty of extra credit offered as well. She is always answers my questions and is pretty funny.
She gives you a ton of information (like 8 pages every lecture) and expects you to learn it all in two weeks...I recommend taking this class at a community college...but she is a very nice lady...she always had a good attitude and was always willing to help out during lab
This class is tough, but Liz gives everything you need. Her notes are incredibly organized. You won't understand her in class but review your notes. At the start of a topic she has a page listing everything you should know. Answer everything on it on another sheet. I never got below a 106% on her exams doing this.
Liz was very helpful whenever I had a question. It is a tough class, but I studied approx 20 hours for each exam and got an A on every one.
She picks on students.
Extremely nice lady, with a very organized way of teaching. She is awesome as a lab teacher and would quiz me on all the models whenever I asked, making lab practicals far easier! I nominated her for the golden apple teaching award, and highly recommend her as a teacher.
Excellent instruction and very helpful for students who participate. Unbelievable understanding of all biology and a can do attitude. STUDY and you will do well!
THIS TEACHER IS THE WORST! DONT BELIEVE WHAT THE OTHER PEOPLE SAY.
this class is extremely hard, but you have to remember it's Human Anatomy too.. She is very clear, the help is always there if you need it, and you will have to study more than you ever have before. Keep up on it! You will need to work very hard.
Excellent instructor, very helpful, won't take your B.S. True, this is a 100 level class but she has to teach A&P for students entering all types of programs. Gives you what you need for grad school. If you come to class, study your notes, make note cards, & ask questions you'll succeed. I never got lower than 106% on the exams.
This class was hard, there is a ton of information you need to know. As long as you study you'll do well. I showed up to less than half the lectures, but every lab section and I studied the lecture packet at home on my own. I ended with a B. Study hard and you'll do well. If I hadn't underestimated the first lab practical, I'd have an A.
Liz is very organized. I loved her style of note taking and her pre-made packet really helps. Learn the "objectives" at the beginning of each section and you will do fine on her exams. Lots of study time is involved...LOTS!!! Do not get behind or you will fail.
This teacher was not helpful and did not make anything clear to understand. I absolutely do not recommend her!
Excellent instructor. Very organized and thorough. This class is hard, she makes it understandable. I wish I could have her for 168.
Without a question a "weed out" class. As long as you study, lecture exams aren't bad. Lab exams are ridiculous. Labels on models could be pointing to multiple areas. Extremely unclear. Prof seems to have a chip on its shoulder and seems to be angry at the world. I would highly advise taking this class at a community college. Save your $ and time.
Wonderful teacher, tough subject. I'm in 168 with a different instructor, and trust me, I miss Liz and her teaching style.
By far the most difficult to understand teacher that I have ever had, surprised to see she got such a good rating. I withdrew half way through Anyway, Liz not helpful and her lab exams are so insanely hard you want to cry before doing it. No homework assigned and she's not helpful. She talks nonstop in lectures so you have no chance to understand
I am a student fresh out of high school. She was my very first professor this past Fall. She is very intelligent and her notes/lectures are very well organized. Of course you have to give 100% effort. It is a weed-out class for any one interested in the health field. All you need to do is work hard. I'm a freshman this year and i recieved an A+.
Liz is the most amazing Human Anatomy and Physiology professor I know of. You will be required to study and she does expect you to know all of the details, but you will actually know this information for a great deal of time.
Crazy lab exams all free recall. Very nice person, and helpful if you show interest in learning. Attendance is MANDATORY to pass the class, you miss one class you are so far behind. No homework, not many quizzes and exams so getting good grades on every thing is essential!
Liz will do anything she can to help you be successful in this class. Don't get me wrong this class is a lot of work as well as memorization but if you seek help she will provide 10 fold. Loved this class!
All lecture exams based off of lecture notes. You can get them from other students, but she uses a lot of color coding. She is a nice person, if you ask for help she will have you answer the question for yourself, but help you get there. Lecture exams have 20pts of fill in the blank. Only 4 lecture exams, 2 lab practicals. Very hard class.
This class is hard, especially the lab practicals but Elizabeth is super nice and very friendly! You just have to show her that you are trying and working hard, she does give extra credit on lab activities. Not really any homework but there are lab activities that you need for your grade. Just show up and study a lot and you should be fine!
After taking all upper level classes at UM Flint, I took BIO 167. This class has way too much memorization and work to be a 100 level class. Malinowski's lectures are monotonous and unfortunately not interesting for what could be an extremely intriguing class.
Liz may be dry, but she knows her material inside out. I was so impressed that every time a student brought up a weird, specific bio question she knew the answer. She is very clear on what's on the test--pure lecture notes. YOU DON'T NEED THE TEXTBOOK. But you need to study at least a week before the test to do well, tho' more frequently is better.
DON'T TAKE HER. TAKE ANYONE ELSE. MAKES NO SENSE. YOU TAKE 12 PAGES OF NOTES IN JUST ONE DAY. RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF INFORMATION. DO. NOT. TAKE.
This class was extremely lecture heavy. Exams are hard, but not impossible. Extra credit is given on each exam and assignment. She also prints off her outline of notes, and you have to fill them in during class. This helps so much when it comes to studying. She also tells you everything you need for the exam.
You will take 10+ pages of notes every day and be expected to have everything memorized by the next class, and she goes through the material super fast. There is no way to listen to what she's saying and take notes just as quickly. Her lectures are more like just telling you what to write, not much explanation!
Take about 10-15 pages of notes a day. Lab exams are way too hard. Take Nicole yambrick or Jennifer miller.
Liz was an amazing prof. She played out on day one of the course how hard it was going to be, and you HAVE to put in the time to really learn it; that means going over your notes frequently and studying on weekends. The lab exams are pure memorization. They tell you on day one that if you want to do well in the course, stay the entire time in lab.
This class is very challenging and definitely requires a lot of work. Malinowski is a good teacher but goes fast when drawing/coloring in the lecture notes. Also, when she lectures it feels like she is just reading from the page rather than teaching. The lab exams are very difficult and the in class exams are easy if you actually study.
I really enjoyed taking this class. Her lectures are heavy on notes, but if you study and review you will do just fine. Lab exams are hard and require you to remember lots of information. If you do good on the lecture exams it will carry your grade for the rest of the semester, so you do not have to worry so much about the lab exams. Great teacher!
Malinowski is a horrible professor. She is terribly dull to listen too, could care less about learning the knowledge over short term memorization. She explains the topics way too quick, leaving no time to let it sink in, basically you are fighting to get all of the 12 pages of notes down, per class. Please do not take her :)
Professor Malinowski is a professor that really cares for her students. You have to put in work to pass all classes. Her lecture supplements are study guides and no book work is required! She will work with you during lab and has fun learning techniques. I made quizlets for her class. Look up BIO 167 Malinowski
She isn't understanding when you have issues with technology. All professors I have had up to this point are understanding and will give partial credit if you explain yourself and you are not a repeat offender. Ms. Malinowski however responded to me by saying "I'm sorry but no." I found this unprofessional and rude. I would not recommend her.
300 characters is not enough. She treated the online class like it was in person and that made this class extremely hard. All classes were lecture and each day was about 20 pages of notes. 2 hours of nonstop information. She gave 0 forgiveness with technical problems. Us passing was not her priority considering the average class test grade was 63%.
This has been one of the worst classes and professor Ive taken in undergrad. There was 7 exams each over 60-70 pages. She just reads off her powerpoints and she goes so fast. So not only do you not learn in class you struggle to keep up. I know people who took this class with Miller and it was no where near as hard. TAKE Miller
Absolutely horrendous. I would not recommend this proffesor to my worst enemy. Only 4 tests so you have to do very well on those. Her teaching style is terrible. Lots of material to learn. She does not specify what areas to focus on for exams, you just have to know ALL the information, DO NOT TAKE.
For a lower level anatomy course, this class is absolutely insane. If I could rate this course a zero I would. The professor goes through an abnormal amount of material every meeting. She is monotone and simply reads the notes. The exams are psychotic so be prepared for intense studying. This class seems to set students up for failure. DONT TAKE!!
Really study its a lot in one exam
It is definitely important to go to labs/lectures, she goes over a lot of material and notes and does not give you access to the material if you happen to miss class. She does give the opportunity for extra credit, and she grades on a curve which was honestly my saving grace. She's a good teacher, its just a tough subject to learn in a short time.
I took this class online in Fall 2021. Professor Malinowski has her own material print outs for every chapter and it's expected you complete it as she discusses everything in lab and lecture. She does offer plenty of extra credit on the homework and tests throughout the semester which is helpful. If you put the work in, this class is easy to pass.
