She is very good teacher.
Would not take her. She went off subject and never really knew what she was doing. She was disorganized and horrible. Test were not fair at all..So many people droped her class.. I heard that she was better in Human Sexuality class. For bio wouldnt take
Good teacher! Very understanding and the class is not hard...
I think she is a good teacher but she seemed a little embarassed when it came time to talk about sex or orgasams in our Bio of Human Sex class. Alot of people dropped througout but she ended up making it really easy in the end! Was her first time though!
Excellent professor. She explains clearly, and tells you what to expect on the tests. However, students have to study like a 3 credit class. Very good!
Hands down the most attractive teacher I've ever had! SO sweet and helps you if you need it. Human Sexuality is a VERY hard class and is NOT an easy A. Take another if you are looking for an easier one. Great Teacher, Bad Class.
Definitely the hardest teacher ive ever had..only take this class if you love biology...hard biology...
She is really a hard professor. She thinks that if she explain everything very clearly then people gonna change there major. Hello, I already have my major. She makes this biology class very hard. Her tests are really harder to solve. Please look for another professor.
I dreaded going to her class every Tuesday! she talks and talks so much that it's a waste of time! the work, labs, and tests were extremely easy, but you just have to put up with her lectrues and procedures (even if you have them printed out in front of you). Easy A
Difficult class. Exams also difficult but fair. Very nice & caring lady. Don't like BIO? Don't take!
These negatives reviews are garbage! She is super helpful in class, but does have high standards. If you don’t want to exert any effort, this is not the instructor for you. She knows her science and makes class interesting and fun.
she's an excellent instructor that makes the class alot easier than it could have been and does a really good job of explaining things! the book is absolutely useless. you gotta go to lecture. the tests weren’t easy, but they were super fair!
Very good class that is an easy A if you put just a little effort into it. Test are easy, especially the final that I swear uses exact questions from previous tests. She definitely puts effort into bringing outside info into the class becasue the book stinks. Definitely a late-30's hottie.
She's a good teacher that tries her best to help you understand and make bio interesting. Easy A if you complete all assignments.
She treats this one credit course as a 3 credit course. She is helpful and pretty clear on what she expects outta her students. I got an A, which is not ususal for me in a science class, but I did study. If you go to every class, and I mean EVERY class, your grade could jump up a whole letter. I would take her again.
no one knows what they're talking about...this teacher is soo easy. i suck at science but i got an A in this class. she tells you whats going to be on the test. she does some weird head things but other than that she's good. of course you're going to have to study for the test but i mean it's college it's what you do
she is great! awesome! I will admit at first i was kinda sleepy in her class... but then the class got so interesting and she was fun! she makes sure that everyone understands what shes talking about and if you need help with anything, she is there ready to help you out. dont think another second.. take prof. mason! ;)
Very clear and helpful, always knew what to expect on tests and assignments, made sure everyone knew what she was talking about. Great teacher!
There is A LOT of homework in this class. If you don't have a lot of time to do hw then you should not take this professor. She is nice and will help explain things if you don't understand it. Her test are half short answer half mulitple choice. the short answer she gives you the questions weeks before the test and she will review some of theanswer
Lab portion. Prof is clear, concise, and to the point. Excellent prep for quizzes and exams. Curriculum was changed, so check to make sure it's suitable for you. Not as much human anatomy as I expected, but an excellent course nonetheless. Can't think of a more qualified person to teach it. Challenging, but enjoyable. Nice balance.
Easy class as long as you go, and at least try and pay attention. She gives you half the questions on the test. Her tests are half short answer half multiple choice. Boring class and if you ask her a question she tends to ramble. You HAVE to do the homework. There is homework every class not difficult but time consuming.
This professor assigns an inconsiderate amount of homework all of which is fair game for the tests (6 of them), and the final is cumulative. You can do well in this class if you have no other classes or responsibilities.
Tells exactly what the short answers are on all tests. Gives sample multi choice ?'s Then puts in trick ?'s on tests. Basically lectures only to the test. Lots of HW, but basically a no brainer kind of class.
I had her for Biology Lab only. She's a very nice person and she knows what she's talking about. Her class is really easy as long as you study the print-outs for the quizzes and tests. Easy Class.
Took her for BIO LAB ONLY. Pretty good teacher. Easy quizzes if you study. Easy bonus points if you do her homework. Midterm is lab's 1-6 and final is labs 7-12. Tells you exactly whats going to be on the tests and before quizzes likes to give you answers. Easy course, i reccommend her!
Had her for bio lab too. Very Nice and easy.its true that the quizzes are easy if you study and give bonus points for hmwrk, lab, and tests. and she gives you answers. its also true that the midterm is lab's 1-6 and final is labs 7-12; there all from quizzes. so save 'em! she will state that too. I RECOMMEND!!!
Her homework is very difficult, but the test are easy because you get to study what is on the test ahead of time. The final is straight from her other tests. However, she is not very helpful and teaches in a way that is confusing. If you already like or understand a lot about biology, then you will do fine in her class.
great teacher if you are really interested in bio. She gives homework everyday and her test are very tricky. Grades fairly on papers, but lectures every class. the class is boring, but many people recieved B's and C's
She is a very intelligent woman and knows the subject matter! You will learn a lot in this class. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend it because she covers so much material in class. There is a lot of homework and a lot of memorization required..if you cant memorize and don't like homework DO NOT take this class!
Dont take her if you have a problem with going to class. If you go to class, tests and studying are extremely easy. Home due before every class, can be annoying but is only based on completion. 3 small papers, and gives you short answer ?s before test. Recommended if you can get to class.
I really don't know how is rating this teacher. She has a lot of homework, her test are hard and confusing, she thinks you have known biology all you life. A lot of memorization, her lectures are endles and meaningless, she likes to litsen to her self talking. I wouldn't recomend her class if you dont know anything about biology and want to learn.
Hard class. Lectures are endless with no info that can be comprehended. Subject matter could be interesting if it could be understood, but it can't, because the teacher thinks everyone has the same Biology knowledge that she does. This class and the lack of ability to learn ALL the info given makes it impossible to do well in it.
prof. mason is THE BOMB! she is VERY easy, towards the end of the class (finals) she tries to make you work for your grade, but as long as you do your HOMEWORK you should get anything lower that a B, please take her, especially if you are not good in science. she makes sure you have a good understanding when you leave.
I took Human Bio online, it is a lot of work but I think that no matter what teacher you take biology is going to be alot of work. Tests can be difficult because they are timed. No mid term, gives you unlimited time and 2 tries on the final. I recommend this professor.
Took her Hum Bio online. She requires ALOT! of work but in the end it's completely worth it. Quizes are a little stressful b/c they are timed (very little time mind you) but as long as you did the HW you should fly right thru them. Final was awesome! Broke it into 2 separate tests, 2 tries per test & unlimited time. Great if you like Biology!
Took online. Great teacher, who genuinely wants her students to succeed. A lot of homework, but it contains all the information you need to pass the test. The course is reasonably challenging but won't kill you. I learned a lot. Take it!!
I thought Dr.Mason was one of the best biology teacher's i've ever had. Everything is clear on WebCT before you even start class (which i love). You have to do your hw, and show up to class, if you do both of those things and study there's no reason for you to get under an A. Do yourself a favor and take Mason--you wont regret it!
While I agree with most here; this is a warning. The class says 3 credits but "feels" like a 4 credit. Online students must be diligent or you struggle. DON'T take this if you have a couple harder classes. Good teacher, no surprises on exams, lot of work, class should be 4 credits.
Wow! What can I say,Dr. Mason was amazing. For every test she provides all the long answer questions and answers for you to memorize, and she give you half of the multiple choice, EASY A!! If your a nursing student doing this before Human A + P I recommend taking BSC1010... but Dr. Mason was by far great. no complaints what so ever.
I took this class online and at first it was a little overwhelming with the work load but once you catch on to what's due when then it's not so bad. Weekly quizzes are pretty short, multiple choice, timed-not so bad. She's very helpful, she explains your mistakes and gives you the correct answers so you can study. She gives some extra credit also.
Dr. Mason is amazing! She truly wants her students to succeed! I wish she taught more classed b/c I would definitely take ALL of her others. I definitely recommend taking Biology I with her. The class isn't extremely easy but you get what you put into it!
This was a great class, not "easy", but it was incredibly easy to get an A as long as you did the work. The workload was reasonably high, but not burdensome. Dr. Mason was available any time. She tells you EXACTLY what you need to do, if you do your work, you can't miss. She rewards early work with EC & provides corrected answers to study with.
this is not an easy class but the teacher is great at explaining gives alot of homework that is important to do. very fair at grading and test are pretty easy bcus she gives a study guide. i hate science its super hard for me but with this teacher i learned alot & passed
I am an accounting major and science is usually not my thing, but this class was very interesting.
She's crazy when it comes to tests. There is way too much to cover, even with her study guide. she thinks her class is the only class. lots of hw, like every other day something is due. her lab is worse! 20 pgs per lab! but tests for lab are easy. Would not recommend.
CRAZY WORK!! This is ONLY a two credit class, this lady thinks I have all day to do her work and its a 5 credit course. Has HW due for every chapter 45 questions or more PER WEEK! Plus disscusions, matching, and quizes. Hey lady, I don't plan on being a dam doctor! This is a non-science major! NOT RECOMMENDED!
Let'e just say....This class has as much work as all my 4 classes combined. She is nice but gives way too much work for a 2 credit course. NOT RECOMENDED AT ALL!
lots of work for sure; weekly weekly lab quizzes, homewrks due each week, lots of material to cover for exams; interesting class, Professor provides lots of online information to enhance learning, but you have to have lots of time to review it all. Overall, enjoyed her class and she is super helpful, but it was challenging staying on top of it all
this class was a little crazy. LOTS to study, She gives you all the short answer for her tests but they are still VERY detailed and if you leave one word out she will count it against you, attendence to the lecture class is not required. Lab is simple- just basically following the manual and she gives you the answers to quiz beforehand
I took the combined lab/lecture class. Lab is easy - no complaints. Her lecture class was very time consuming. Lots of HW and studying! She gives you the short answers for all her tests, but you must learn the responses word for word, she takes pts off for any little mistake. Usually tests consists of 8 short answer and about 40 multiple choice
TONS OF WORK! You will go crazy if you don't keep up. Homework, disscussions(sometimes two),quiz due every week. The prof is very nice and helpful, but give WAY to much work. I would not take this class unless you truly have the time and love science.
I think she was a very great teacher; she gave us all the material for the tests. So if you went over all the material and payed attention in class, you would get a good grade on the test. If you are the type of person that's motivated to do well take this class and you will not regret it.However, if you are a slacker than I recommended you don't.
Great class for those who know little of biology to begin with. Set of 25ish questions due almost every class but it REALLY helps, and if you don't need the help you have the option of not doing them and instead allowing your tests to count for more of your grade. DEFINITELY recommend.
Prof. Mason is great. The class simply requires time, if you have that, you won't have a hard time getting a good grade. She leaves absolutely no mystery, you'll be aware of what you need to know ahead of time, and it's up to you to obtain that knowledge.
Prof. Mason is wonderful. She is a sweet lady. She gives you all the information you will ever need to pass the class. Gives you all the answers for test, just study and you will do great. Im glad I took her for biology. I dont think I would have passed any other way. I suck at science.
It's an easy class if you follow along in class and print out out all the study guides. Everything that is on the test is discussed in class. She pretty much gives you all the questions on the test. The class is organized and easy to understand for a science class. I'm horrible in science and I got a B in the class.
HumanBio is one of the most useful courses I have ever taken! There is a lot of work but you will LEARN! There are questions, discussions or short researches, matching questions and quizzes. Some of the homework are really fun! I loved it so much I even thought of changing my major! Take her!
Had to take Biology online do to work, but they make you take the lab portion at the school to get full credit. Text book is required. It's printed out by the school and you do all course work in it. The book is very repetitive and as long as you can show her you grasp the concept she'll let you skip whole pages.Just show up & participate to Pass!!
Did not like this teacher. She was rude and looked at you like you were dumb when you ask questions. The class was very hard for me and hard to understand. I would not recommend anyone take her.
Professor Mason is a really good teacher, she teaches you what you need to know and will give you the short answer questions that are on your tests weeks ahead so that you can prepare a good answer to get full points. She tries her hardest to help students, labs are fun and she is overall a good teacher. I barely studied and got a B.
She repeats everything in her lectures a million times, which I loved, and has many resources on Blackboard. Her MC tests were hard to predict sometimes, but her short answers were a breeze if you studied. If you put in your time, she makes things pretty simple for you.
She has good intentions and wants you to learn but goes about it the wrong way...LECTURES ARE EXTREMELY BORING! (Monotone) At least 3 people fall asleep in my class every time. CRAZY amount of work load. I love biology and pass with A's and this class was extremely difficult for me. Would not take her again and I would NOT recommend her.
she is a very good teacher. understands what she's teaching and can convey it in a way for everyone to understand. i would definitely recommend her. this isn't a class to be lazy in.
She is the greatest! So sweet and so helpful with work. If you do your part, she does hers!
This rating that says 4.1 overall is a lie. She is not helpful or clear. I spent hours doing the homework and got bad grades on it. I read the material and that didn't help at all. The test are super hard. This class' rating should be 2.5 overall tops.
Professor Mason was AWFUL. I only stayed in the class for 2 weeks, I'll be honest but she was the worst. Her lectures were 3 hours long with 5 minute breaks every hour & ALL SHE DID WAS TALK. She could've made it far more interesting. She knows alot about Biology but unless you want to teach yourself then DO NOT TAKE HER.
Such a boring class. She is so monotone and confusing. She talks in circles and confuses what she is saying. DO NOT TAKE HER! Her grading is so tough, if you don't write word for word what was given it will be wrong. Her tests are confusing and assignments are lengthy. Hated this class with a passion.
Yes she gives you the short answer questions for the test, but you're so busy trying to memorize that, you underestimate the multiple choice portion. The post labs are worth a lot and really effected my grade. She doesn't give a study guide and barely any extra credit. She knows her stuff but the information is tough.
Extremely tough. If you are not good at science, try someone else. The tests were hard and she is the worst grader. She is so picky its ridiculous. Lab and lecture are both a lot of work, and do not go hand and hand. Do not underestimate the post labs. They effect your grade a TON!
I enjoyed Professor Mason. Her tests are lengthy a require a lot of work, she is VERY clear on what to study. 60% of the tests are short answer, and she gives you all the answers in class and the day before the exam. The rest is multiple choice, which she has online notes that help a lot with this. Do no plan on passing if you don't attend class!!!
3 tests 3 quizzes. Tests are short answer which she covers in class and multiple choice which comes from the homework and quizzes. Tough grader but if you put in the work you will pass. She is very nice and approachable. I would take her again.
She is a great professor but she is a tough grader and her lectures do get very boring. She provides ppt notes, her "hopefully helpful professor notes" (they really are), and videos to help you better understand the chapters. 3 quizzes & 3 exams-2 parts. She gives you the Q's & A's for one part of exam. The only way you'll fail is if your don't try
Amazing. 3 tests with free response questions and an overall lab test. Gives you the answers to all frqs and multiple choice all you have to do is pay attention in lecture and you'll pass. She's a tough grader, but tells you what she expects. She writes her own notes and they're very helpful in understanding the material. 10/10 highly recommend
If you get a question wrong she will correct you almost harshly, just almost. Lab is no joke. Must attend. Same with lecture. Lots of vocabulary to remember. IMO, if you're a part time student and/or have a job, really consider this class/teacher. Must be textbook-specific with your answers, mainly in tests. Not really enthusiastic about her class.
She is an amazing professor. Yes, her lectures sometimes get boring, but she finds cool ways to demonstrate different models in biology. Lab and lectures are mandatory and she is a very strict grader. She takes lab very seriously and there is a lab midterm and three lecture tests. If you pay attention and put effort into the class not hard to pass.
This class requires a lot of work but she provides you with literally everything you could possibly need to learn. She post really helpful notes online and lets you know exactly what answers she expects for short answers on tests. Very knowledgeable and seems to enjoy her field of study. Loved her!
Shes very strict and she gives plenty homework. This class is very challenging and requires a lot of studying.
Mrs. Mason is a great teacher! I took her over the summer and it was a lot of work but she makes the material somewhat easy to understand. She does Kahoots. Tests are mult choice & LONG short answers. She's clear on what to memorize for the short answers. Do the Learnsmarts and participate and you'll do fine! She's willing to help if needed.
She is the best professor!!!! take her. I recommend you to do a guide with all of the question that she will give to you for the test, and you will be prepared for the test. really it is an easy A; just study all of the questions!!!!
Professor Mason is a well of knowledge. So happy that I had her for Bio. If you read and follow her notes and study guides you are golden. This information is really paying off for A&P.
Be prepared for a ton of reading, studying, memorization, and homework. I took her hybrid class (It was best for my schedule) and it was a lot of work. You'll have to make time for daily homework and studying. She is very smart and is willing to answer emails and questions. But she doesn't allow excuses for missing work. Be prepared for this class!
This class is difficult. One thing that I like that she does is give you a study guide for the tests, but you are so busy trying to memorize the LONG short answer questions that you don't dedicate enough time to study for the multiple choice. She's okay but I also did find myself not asking questions because she made you feel dumb when answering it
By far one of the hardest class I have ever taken. She is a very tough professor. Expects way too much from students. The tests are too overwhelming and impossible to do good on.
This professor is a very tough grader. Expects wayy too much from students. The short answers are super long and take days to memorize. Do not take her! The tests have both short answers and 50 questions of MC. It is impossible to do good if you dont memorize everything. It is a very hard class, dont take her if you have any other classes.
Professor Mason is a great professor to take for Biology. You can tell that she really has a passion for what she teaches. She is a tough grader, but she is just trying to make sure that your information is accurate. Her lectures are really informative, and she makes connections to the real world.
Very good. Provides you with a lot of materials to study and learn from. Lectures aren't too bad but sometimes drawn out for 3 hours. Occasional quizzes. Lab assignments not bad make sure you're thorough. Goes over "short" answers for test. Study matching, posted notes and you'll be fine. Lab tests not bad, can have 1 sided flashcard with answers.
Do not take this professor for Biology, hardest professor I have ever taken.
Worst professor Ive ever met! Ask her a question and she talks to you like youre ignorant when were paying her to teach us! I hated this class!
One of the hardest classes I have taken but not because of the way the class was taught. Dr. Mason does a thorough job of giving you what you need to pass. Goes over the lab questions so you know what she is expecting, & she literally gives you the short answer questions ahead of time. Hard, but show up every time willing to listen & you'll be fine
This class is very difficult! You will have to remember multiple short answer questions she expects for you to remember every detail. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Expect to give 15-20 hours of work in this class. The teacher isn't very reasonable and is not tech savvy by any means so expect issues with the course work. She will require that you print out papers every week( bio teacher that likes wasting paper???).She is very knowledgeable in the subject and if you put forth the effort you will learn a lot.
She gives you exactly what will be on the test, just be sure yr good w/ memorizing short answer q. She's keen on wording and vocab used. MC & SHQ are worth 50/50 for each test. Good lectures. Clear grading criteria. Labs were the trickiest for me since she's very picky about wording, be thorough & consult Bio study center if you need help
Science classes are not easy and require lots of work and studying! But Mrs Mason does a great job providing lots of material to understand the subject. She makes very clear what to expect on the exams, she might come off a little harsh but overall shes helpful. Do your homework on time, show up on time and study her material and youll pass !
She gives students the "short answer questions" but every detail must be exactly how she words them. Labs are mandatory and if you miss more than 1 she is unforgiving. A lot of what I learned in biology was not from her teaching it. This course is HEAVY on memorization/studying so if you are a full time student and or have a job, GOOD LUCK!
Currently taking it online, everything is doable since the textbooks and powerpoint slides/videos have all of the content you need. There are 3 tests with one quiz every week. Homework is due everyday but I highly recommend taking this professor. Your grade will reflect how much you studied!
Get ready to learn for yourself if you choose her as your professor. Everyone previous failed to mention the fact that the "tests" she gives her students consist of 4 modules into 1 single test. And that test will question u on things that were never mentioned in the PowerPoint that she uses from the textbook. No teaching from her at all, just PP
Professor Mason is amazing! I wasnt really sure how I would do in this class since I never really liked Biology. But she definitely changed my perspective on it! Her video lectures are very helpful and shes very organized. You will have plenty of work to do - basically every day - but if you do study and prepare for the tests, youll pass!
She assigns a lot of HW but tbh you get use to it but the TEST & QUIZZES are RIDICULOUS she will give you lets say 20 min to answer 50 questions *To eNsuRe nObOdY cHeaTs its not even enough time to THINK!! The test will be like 99 questions in 120 min like WHAT. Ik biology is a hard course but GEEZ
I wouldn't recommend this class even to my ENEMIES. you will have hw due almost everyday like you have no life outside of class., literally no break. You are expect to take 50 questions exam in like 20min. The ACTIVITIES TO HELP YOU REVIEW FOR TEST 2 that she provided did not help at all!
Look Bio is a hard subject so just keep that in mind. She is a great professor but if you work full-time and or are taking more than 2 classes be careful. I did take it in the summer so it was cramped, you will get 3-4 assignments DAILY. So it is a lot and they are all worth like 3-10 points and are very time-consuming. dont, take it during summer!
Professor Mason is very organized with her lectures & straight to the point. Yes, it is very heavy on assignments. She is quick to respond if you have any questions or concerns. ALL of her quizzes are timed, so it very important for you to keep up and understand what you are learning before testing. Put it the work, study and you will do great.
She was a pretty good teacher though the workload is quite a lot. The lab assignments are graded very specifically for answers that she wants. Overall she is very understanding and gives extensions when needed so I would take her again if I could.
Insane amount of assignments for online mixed class, take about 15 hours a week on top of a 3 hour lab. Very specific on what she wants for responses to labs. Tough grader. does not use proctoru. Class is hard if you work more than part time.
She gives a lot of McGraw-Hill assignments to complete. You can definitely learn things, but I would choose other options for a professor, she can be nice but also not help but make you feel inferior to her and the knowledge you're learning. Instead of communicating and understanding the student on a problem, she doesn't see why they don't get it.
I have always loved science, however this professor made me hate biology this semester... She gives hundreds of assignments per week and they're all hour long textbook assignments. Do NOT take this class if you are not ready for the amount of work. She's also a tough grader and takes points off for silly things.
