She is FANTASTIC! Very informative, wonderful sense of humor and extremely challenging. She made the class and the subject very fun.
She was very unclear, disorganized, and never covered the important stuff with emphasis. She seemed unsure of herself, and should stay at the junior high.
Very nice and helpful if you approach her. She does talks to the class like you are her junior high school students but it was not too distracting. The class is difficult and you will have to spend a significant amount of time studying.
I thought she graded fairly she just wanted her students to grasp her ideas. I thought her tests were difficult even if you did a great deal of studying. She made her students work towards their grades.
Class seemed very political! lots of evolution talks. hmm. umm didn't cover very much material in lectures. just a few topics. but if your willing to read all the chapters ,you'll do well on exams.. LABS ARE VERY EASY THOUGH!
Love her excitment! The test questions are somewhat different, tend to be confusing and tricky. READ Chapters and lecture notes! She is fun and easy to talk to about concerns! Always willing to help you!
I think she is very smart, she knows her material. I found that no matter how much i study for her class I can not pass the exams. It was very tough. I am so gald that it is over.
she is a good teacher but none of her materials match her exams. I would not take her as a teacher again. Good luck to anyone who takes her. Just to prepare you, you basically have to teach yourself and it is a class that takes alot of worj to get an A or a B
She is kinda cooky but ok as long as you stay on her good side. Tests are hella hard and no matter how much you study you still wont know all the stuff! Labs are sooo easy though and so is the homework so i guess that makes up for the hard ass tests.
It seems that she plays favorites and she also seems to like to get in other peoples buiness. The class is nothing extrodinary and shes not the best teacher in the world but shes not unbearable either.
McInnes is a great teacher. Her power point lectures pretty much give you the answers on the test. And if you pay attention in lecture, then the test should be a piece of cake.
She is a good professor, you need to attend class and study the book but if you do that then you will do just fine.
I think that she is an amazing biology professor. Any science class requires a certain level of ability to teach yourself the material. She makes the class more entertaining because she has a lot of personality. As long as you actually pay attention and attend class the tests are relatively easy, the study guides are very helpful.
she is a wonderful teacher. if u study her study guide u will do good on the test. i loved her she is very sweet and is willing to help anyone.
She one fo the coolest college professors I have had yet. Her material, labs, and hw are easy. Tests are extremely hard but if you study the book and ask lots of questions you will be ok. She is really knowledgable and not a dull moment in her class. It was a lot of fun and I would recommend everyone to take her classes!
She is a great professor..... Good summer class!
Liz is so awesome! I took her class over the summer and I loved every minute of it! I love how she not only teaches about biology, but at the end of the semester, she teaches about our environment and our impact in it!
Don't take her. Just don't. Nice woman, but her tests are RIDICULOUS! Her study guides basically translate to "STUDY THE WHOLE DAMN BOOK." Just take someone else.
Good class to take but hard! Labs are SUPER easy and fun. Quizzes are easy, homework pretty easy. But the tests!! SUPER HARD!! I struggled with the tests, but still pulled a good grade. She does offer extra credit. Nice teacher too.
Labs super easy, homework easy, quizzes easy. Tests definately a challange. Good teacher, class overall well organized (besides labs).
prof.makes science seem like a joke.Totally unorganized &cares more about being friends w/her students than teaching. She waists@ least 20min of class catching up on girl drama. You can tell she definitely has an insecurity complex and almost acts like she is in high school.Im surprised she even got her degree &even more surprised they let her teac
Nice woman but doesnt belong in the class room. Hardly ever keeps her office hours, and lies about it. She grades on favoritism and gives extra credit assignments to only her favorite students. She will bring her kids to class and waist a whole hour of lecture trying to be cute. i agree with her being a joke.
Please do not take this class unless you need to. She takes forever to hand back assignments and when you ask about them she is rude. a lot of homework, two field trips and a big project. im honestly suprised she gave me an a because she was rude to me. noone ever got an a on a test. i wanted to take genetics but decided not to when i saw her teach
This professor is not very helpful or friendly.Tests are ridiculously hard no one gets an A.Waist class time by not being prepared.Labs are practically a waist of time with simple activities already done in bio. have fun doing the same labs AGAIN! I would not recommend taking this teacher!
This professor is extremely nice! She was always really helpful, she took us on trips to enhance our understanding of the subject. If she sees that you show an interest in the knowledge she has she will teach you anything you want to know. In short, she actually enjoys teaching and is good at making it easy going and relaxing! So take her class!
This class was fairly hard. But it is a college course that is intended to challenge you. I thought this professor was very good. She took the class to nurseries and a botanical garden to help us better understand what we were learning. Her tests were hard but doable if you took the time to study. She is very kind and helpful.I recommend her class!

Liz is the most amazing biology teacher EVER!I loved her bio111 class so much I took 151a & am now taking bio115.She has a passion for teaching that I have not seen in many teachers. She cares about her students & wants them to succeed. You just need to take the time to take notes, study,& ask questions. Put the time in and you will get a good grade!
The summer 08 class was great!
Liz is awesome. She is a great biology teacher. she covers what you need to know and is very fun about it. Liz is more than a teacher she shows she is human too and helps her students as much as she possibly can. I loved her and would reccomend her to anyone and everyone who wants to take this class.
Liz was a great teacher, I had her for online Bio 111.she doesnt like to beat around the bush, very straight up. Made learning fun. I wasnt a hard class I was taking 15 units this semester(summer 2009) so it got kind of difficult. If your a committed student you'll be fine. I recommend this teacher shes AWESOME!
Easy labs, easy quizzes, easy homework assignments. On tests you're pretty much roadkill. Sometimes i'd ask for help, and all i'd get was a "not right now, come back later." but other than that, shes nice and a good teacher.
This was the easiest class I have ever taken, she is extremely straight forward in lectures, the questions on test and quizes are practically word for word from lectures. Very nice and flexible teacher. As long as you go to lab and complete you homework packs and assigments you will pass no problem.
She has great communication with students, the tests match the lectures/homework, and the material is very interesting. A++
I took Liz for her 5 week summer bio111 class she is a great teacher! I really enjoyed her class. The labs were fairly easy but you really need to study for the exams. The homework is definitely not something to put off. I got an A in her class and I really enjoyed taking her class. I would definitely take her again!

Mrs. McInnes is totally awesome I highly recommend you take any course she teaches. PLUS! She puts MJC Earth day together so thats proof you know she is awesome!
She is an awesome teacher. She is very helpful and a really fun teacher. She makes class very interesting! And she is extremely kind! Great teacher.
I would not recommend this teacher for a hybrid course. She doesn't go over any of the material and her tests are extremely hard even if you study. Labs are easy, and so are her online quizzes and homework packets. Nice lady, but wouldn't recommend this hybrid course to no one.
Her hybrid course is really straight forward, however, the tests are REALLY hard! But if you keep up with the other points possible in the class you will be fine. I didn't buy the textbook and got C in my tests but still got an A by the end of the class.
I took her Bio 111 hybrid course. I thought her grading system was very fair, without being too easy. Do the reading, it makes the labs much easier to understand. She expects you to do your work, and if you do, you will pass this class. Tests are hard, but if you study you'll do well. I repeat: keep up on the reading.
I took a hybrid course with Professor McInnes. She is super sweet and knowledgeable about the subject she teaches. If you need help just ask and she will help you. Study hard for the tests, they are a bit tricky.
Hybrid class. Liz is a great teacher. The labs are a lot of fun. Quizzes and discussions are easy. You will need to study for the exams. If you read over her lecture slides and study from the homework pack you'll get an A. I always made a copy of my homework pack before turning it in so I could study from it. She is super helpful.
Took her hybrid class. The labs were really simple and easy, more like drawing what you see in a microscope and answering q's. Quizzes were based on her lectures and the exams were also largely from lectures, book and hw. Allows a note card for the final and one exam was online(open book). I highly recommend her class, especially the hybrid.
Took her botany course this past spring. She definitely expects you to be there and be prepared, and literally anything she says or writes down is fair material for the exams and quizzes. Stay on top of the reading and labs and you will be alright.
When you get to class, she has a clear cut agenda for the day. Once you have completed the tasks for the day you can leave, even with hours left in the class. She is always willing to clarify or explain in depth. Attendance is important in order to complete the labs.
Prof McInnes is very clear on what the class will be doing each day. Once the objective has been completed, then you get to go home (even if it is just an hour later.) I have learned more from her one class then from the last year of classes I have taken. Exams are a bit stressful, luckily there are only 3 exams and 1 finial.
I could tell she enjoys teaching, lectures were funny and interesting. She is fast to give you back your grades, and will give you sample tests to study from. Labs are fun and easy. Homework packs are long, but easy. She will tell you to google the answers you were unable to find from the reading. You'll need to study for tests! (med-difficult)
Took her hybrid class Spring 2015. She is a great teacher! She sets up this class to help you succeed. As long as you do your work and study you will get a good grade. Very helpful lectures and gives practice test (make sure you don't skip those). Would definitely take one of her classes again.
Follow the Modules like it's your religion, go to class like it's your job, and do your homework like your life depends on it and you'll be fine. Liz excitement in her teaching style was contagious. She is clear and thorough. I had an overall great experience!
Approachable, knowledgable, excited about the subject. Keeps lecture interesting (video clips, props, slides, white board). Do your homework & discussion questions & pay attention in class & you won't have to work much extra an A. Downfall: Reads your emails, never responds, grading takes a week, doesn't post grades. I would recommend this class!
Great class and teacher. Highly recommend.
This is an awful class. She recycles the lectures from semester to semester. She takes forever to grade and no rhyme or reason for her grades. Her tests are horrible and some seem to pull material from other places than lecture or reading. She does not answer emails. Don't take this professor.
She is an amazing professor. She's very organized and gives great lectures. She is so clear in whatever she assigns. She wants you succeed. She is always there to help you. Make sure to read the book and learn her lectures well, then you will do great in class. You will learn so much about plants and how to collect and press them.
As any biology class would be, BIO 111 with McInnes was tough. However, she made the lectures interesting. McInnes is insanely smart-- she knows so much about everything, it seems. I took a hybrid course, but the majority of tests were in lab. 1 quiz weekly and homework packet due every few weeks. Hefty course, but very fascinating.
Really great teacher, super science nerd and that's not a bad thing. I really enjoyed her class. Provides every opportunity to pass, take them!
She is such a great and nice professor , very smart lady . she is such a science person and loves her profession to teach . I enjoyed her lectures and labs . i would highly recommend her for any bio class
McInnes will make you work for your grade, but will also appreciate hard work. Expect weekly quizzes, and anything is fair game on the exams. Study hard and often. After this class you will not look at plants the same way. Amazing professor, with a real passion for botany.
Super easy class, she's very helpful as far as learning the material. Show up to the labs and do what you're supposed to and she's an easy A. Absolutely loved her!!
Professor McInnes is a great professor. She is funny and really knows biology and manages to make it not boring. Her assignments are not too difficult, and her classes are an easy B or A. You must make almost all lab meetings because if you don't you miss out on the labs, which are a good portion of your grade. I'd recommend her anytime.
Professor McInnes a is a wonderful professor. She is a walking textbook. She makes the class fun. Her labs are fun and easy. However, her exams are extremely difficult. I took the Hybrid class and those exams where much easier. I would take her again!
GREAT PROF. Very knowledgeable about bio and can talk about it all day. Labs are easy and straight forward. Lectures are online and are videos of her explaining PPTs. 4 exams during semester,2 online, 2 in class. 3 Hw packets and about 10 labs. Quick grader, follows syllabus, and assignments are clear. Review practice and labs b4 in class exams.
exams are built straight from the lectures. Please don't procrastinate studying, even though you just need to know the power points, it can be overwhelming at times. If you have questions, she will give you an excellent response
She is a fun professor with a ton of energy. The labs are always interesting and she is very knowledgeable. The workload wasn't heavy at all but the tests were on the more difficult side. Be sure to study for those.
By far the easiest online class Ive ever taken! Her online lectures are everything you need for the homework and quizzes. You dont even have to read the textbook!
I took her online class. It was easy and fun. She definitely went out of her way to create videos and power points for her students. It made it easier for me to engage in the material because I'm an auditory learner. She does take weeks to grade. The tests are difficult so take good notes.
With this being a hybrid class it was difficult because while we had to do the lectures ourselves and the lab in class the tests were extremely difficult. You have 3 exams and a final (online). I only passed one of the exams with a 70 and my group was the same. The labs you just show up every week and do. BEWARE of the exams. She was fine.
The course itself it fine. Well organized. Easy to follow and understand. Terrible communicator though! Don't expect to get responses to any of your questions, whether they are sent in e-mails, online discussions, nothing!
Her online lectures were just her robotically reading directly off the PowerPoint; thrown-together & hard to follow. This class is just memorizing vocabulary words, yet she cant present/teach the content in a digestible manner. She often LEAVES lab & wastes time/goes off-topic when she's actually present. Shes unorganized & makes a lot of mistakes.
No one I knew in the class got higher than a C on any of the exams. She closes the online module on Fridays so you don't have the weekend to work on it. Her exam questions are very twisted and confusing compared to what is on the study guide.
By far one of the nicest professors at MJC. Shes super easy to talk to and ask questions, exams are very difficult , although she does say this in the beginning of the semester. Beware of lab practicals, those are even harder than exams. Lectures are decent, I suggest recording anything in class anything and everything will be on those exams.
I wouldn't recommend taking PHYSIO-101 with her. She has weekly quizzes, exams were difficult. Doesn't know how to lecture the class, and just reads off her slides. Labs we disorganized! You need to really teach yourself.
Very interesting class and great prof.
Her class was a piece of cake, and I even learned a lot. Get your homework done early in the week so it won't sneak up on you, and do your reading. Easy A.
LOTS OF LABS! Prepare to convert your room/backyard to a wanna be botany lab. Sis reads everything off the lecture slides. Lab practicals and exams are all over the place.. study! Be ready to go on a mission across California to collect plants for your plant collections.
Professor McInnes is the BEST! You have a lecture no more than 30 minutes each week, a 1-2 hour asynchronous lab that she gives you all the materials for, a 30-minute homework assignment, an easy discussion, and a quiz that you really don't even need to study for. I took it as an online class. Easy A. Quick to respond to emails and understanding.
Her class wasnt hard once you did the work it was very easy to have a good grade.
Professor Mc Innes is an awesome professor. Her lectures are sometimes a little unorganized, but STUDY THE LECTURES LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT for the exams. You can read the textbook, but those lectures, especially the powerpoints of the lectures, are more powerful than life itself. There's A LOT of lab work, lots of drawing, but I had fun
Professor McInnes was really sweet. Her class isn't hard and it's a pretty light load for a Bio class. The biggest downfall is her assignments are only worth 5-10 points each, so if you miss some, your grade drops fast. No late assignments. Her tests were a little awkard because they weren't always clear with what she was asking on each question.
Absolutely horrible her lectures are long and she goes off talking about other things not included in exam.. Exams are 100 questions and quiz every week she does not provide any help for exams they are based on 5 or more chapters
I had Professor McInnes for both Biology 115 and Plant Biology 110 in the same semester (online). She's a great professor, if I'm being honest. As long as you pay close attention to the lectures, read the class textbook and the other book, you'll surely get a good grade on the homework and quizzes, and pass her class!
Professor McInnes is caring and wants her students to succeed. Assignments are reasonable: 1 quiz, 1 discussion post, and 1-2 pages of homework worksheets (way easier than it sounds). She is a reasonable grader and when I had stuff going on at home she was flexible and made sure to go out of her way to check on me. Would take a class with her again
This is my second course with this Professor because I mistakenly took Genetics & Evolution when I needed a lab course. She is extremely flexible and will work with you. I got an A in her last class and got a C in this one just because I dropped the ball on so much work. Her assignments are fairly easy if you listen to her lectures!
The only issue with this class was the amount of homework and labs she assigned. If you're only taking one class and have absolutely nothing else going on in your life then you might enjoy this course. It seems that some teachers don't realize that students have other priorities in life and assign an unnecessary amount of work.
The nicest professor ever. She understands that people have lives outside of her class. Passionate about the subject which will make you love it too. Get going on the plant collection asap. Watch lectures, take notes during lab, and do the homework because exams are heavily based on those.
There are 4 exams throughout the entire semester, along with weekly quizzes, which total to over 50% of your grade. Do not fail the exams. Labs are once a week and 3 hrs long, and you cannot miss more than 2 in order to receive credit. Labs are relatively enjoyable, but all labs except the first lab are duo/partner labs. Discussions are interesting
This professor truly cares about her students! She opened up late discussions multiple times for students, even without us needing to ask. She also prepares us well for the tests and provides scantrons for those who need them. It is clear she knows a lot about biology, and she made lectures interesting. Would definitely recommend her class!
This professor is awesome. I took her over this summer term and I had so many complications in my schedule like a trip to Panama, an illness, and everything that happened she gave me more than enough time to get everything in. Expect a very organized class with an awesome professor who will care for and work with you.
She's not bad per se, just very disorganized. Felt like we were unclear in what we were supposed to do half the time for assignments, **DID NOT** post due dates for things due on canvas, spoke about things at the start of semester we never ended up doing, told us she hates emails midway through the semester and has ignored them before.
Prof. McInnes is okay and chill. Weekly quizzes and labs are straightforward. However, be prepared for disorganization: no exam study guides and unclear focus on what we should know (it's upsetting when exams/lab practicals take up most of our grade). Start the plant collection EARLY and expect a climate change presentation.
