McLaughlin for MATH 232 was the hardest class that I have taken at UNC, and I'm usually a great math student. You have to teach yourself all the material because she is so bad at teaching the class. The tests are completely unfair, but she doesn't write the final, so that's the only way to save your grade. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER.

McLaughlin spent a majority of the class solving problems incorrectly and then students would be forced to help her correct her errors. The final exam had no similarity to the midterms and midterms were graded in a manner so that one incorrect question would be deducted 14 pts. Seemingly simple material was taught in a complex manner.

I enjoyed Professor McLaughlin's class; however, her teaching style is heavily centered around what students should have already learned from the textbook. She does not track attendance; however, it's hard to pass if you don't come to class. Sadly, our final exam grade was extremely low and although she promised a curve, it wasn't applied to A & Bs

Try to get into Dr. McLaughlin's section at all costs. She is great at explaining and the class was enjoyable and more passive. Do the homework problems to get used to the math, but the test problems will be much easier. It seems that the final exam has changed from previous years; it was very much easier than how previous students portrayed it.

One of the worst professors I have ever seen at UNC. The lecture style is insane, you have to preread notes for every class which isnt that bad but she explains the concepts so fast that it is impossible to take notes during the class. She goes through the example problems even faster. There is no room to breath so do not fall behind during SS.

Typical bad UNC math professor. My main problem with Mclaughlin is how fast she went through material, and the way she set up her lectures. She would go so quickly, and write important things down in the I-pad laser pointer so it disappeared in 30 seconds. Never explained things. People must just like her as a professor bc you can skip lecture.
