Off-topic and hard to follow. Not too interesting as a class either.
she is the worst teacher I have ever had

I didn't understand a single thing from that class
Nice...
worst teacher ever, such a ****
She teaches fast, unclear, and she is always harsh. FIRE HER
looks like a witch
She gives me nightmares!!!!!
Hard class, goes to fast, hard to follow, not very nice.

Everything seems fine til you take the tests, ambiguous answers and about nothing we covered..

Teaches material that is never covered on the tests. Hates answering questions. Cannot relate to students on any level.
You needed to do a lot of reading from the book to do good on the test, but she wasn't that bad. From what my friends who took psy 100 with different teachers tell me, though, I had a much tougher time than them.
Goes over alot, but read the book too. She's very blunt, so don't take things personal. Ok class.
I have her for abnormal Psychology. She teaches well, but is very difficult. She does teach well, giving a lot of examples, and the psychlogs are cake. If you are looking to learn from the class and aren't too concerned with your grade, take this class.
SHE IS A REASON TO DROP A PSY MAJOR. The hardest teacher i have ever had, very unreasonably hard tests. I worked my butt off in the class and am currently retakin it with another teacher and have an A in it.
She is a trial and error teacher. You have to do bad in order to do good at the end of the term. You never have to go to class, she posts everything online. And you can do any extra credit that you want; that gets added to the final grade 1 point = 1 %
I would not take this prof. again at gun point!

hard, very picky on psy logs that write. make sure you know examples of definitions on exams.
Do the extra credit and keep up on h/w and you should be fine. Tests are pretty easy. Not the funnest teacher in the world. I could see her being very hard in a more advanced class than PSY 100.
If you have this professor drop the class immediately, she is very rude, tests are impossible, no matter how hard you study, and she is very stubborn. Never ever take her, it is a living hell, she is a ****.
Not the best prof. Seems to think we should all be experts on the subject, and never gets to the point in lectures. She seems to just ramble on and that's why a lot of stuff doesn't get covered in units.
WAYYY too hard. Tests are impossible to do good. I would study a lot and still do bad. She is too critical on psychlogs and she has her favorites.
Would rather have gotten an enema !!!
This woman is my arch-nemesis.
hard, but just ask for help.
This women is a complete troll! She is way too critical on the psychlogs and her tests are atrocious.
Horrible teacher! Was considering going into psychology but she changed my mind! Really recommend not to take her. I studied and still did bad and shes wayyyyyyyy to critical on the psych logs! Worst class EVER!!!!!!!!
one of the two worst profs I've ever had. she doesn't answer questions well and is mean to her students. people that take her classes usually don't follow with psychology as a major. I don't know who said they like her, I think they got an A for that!
This woman does not help when asked. I have often left her office tearing up becuase she was just so horrible and made me feel like crap. I highly suggest not taking this woman, she will not make you want to continue with Psychology!

WORST TEACHER EVER!!! Don't ever take this class with her! She doesn't know what she is talking about when she is teaching...
This women is out of control. If you write down everything she says and read the chapters you will be lucky to get a C. And good luck doing well on those physchlogs!!
probably the worst prof. i've had my entire three years of college...very unhelpful, very egocentric....have fun with those psychlogs...
just dont do it...by far the worst teacher i have ever had in my life!!! Shes crazy, rude, extremly unhelpful, and can make you feel like an idiot. sorry if you get stuck with her and good luck!
Worst ****ing teacher in the History of Earth. Do not even THINK of taking her. She should be fired, and I think I might start a petition to do so.
I wish i never signed up for the class with her!
Dr. Meadows was very helpful and very clear on what she wanted on her tests. Yes, the psychlogs are very hard, but if you go into her office or hand them in for a rough draft and fix them, you will be ok. extra credit is offered and she has a funny sense of humor.
My class didn't have the psych log, she did this to 'test' if the classes differed in grades and how they liked the class. With just lectures (available online) and tests, I'd say this was an ok class. Tests were hard, and tricky it seems, but she lectures well, shows video's, answers questions and is generally easy to actively listen to.
Basically she is the devil! Hated her and thought her teaching methods were rediculous!
Great teacher!! She gives so much help, such as a study guide, example questions (that are on the test), and web site for practice quizzes. Yes you need to study but the class is interesting and she knows what shes talking about. I almost didn't take her because of her ratings but I am glad I did. Got in A in the class.
THis prof is the worst I have ever had. She makes no sense when she lectures (not to mention annoying), her tests do not have to do with any of the notes that she gives, she is mean, and made this class a horrible experience for me. I mean, I want to major in Psychology, and I still didn't like this class. I would take any one other than her!!!!
Stupidest Class I have ever taken. You don't learn anything. Class averages are low. OBVIOUSLY that shows SOMETHING
She is not a professor of Psychology. She is a researcher, the problem with this major is we have way too many "professors" that really dont even care about teaching. Elizabeth's Psych logs are graded way to heavy considering the lax requirements, and the tests do not reflect the book, or the lectures. If you want a good grade, dont take her.
go to office hours!
Thought I knew what I was doing until I got my exams back. Confusing. She makes you feel like an idiot! No homework or quizzes but pyschlogs are way too hard for what they are worth. Doesn't explain them at all. Final is comprehensive!
OMG horrible professor!! Sooo hard...i got a D and i actually studied ALOT...and also very disrespectful to students
She is as worthless as chewing gum after the flavor is gone. Legitamtely the worst prof I have ever had. She Missed class at least 8 times!!! Not to mention that she brought her kid to class at least 5 times. PsychLogs are greated way to heavy, exams dont reflect material/lecture. if u dont have a phd in psych than plan on a C at best. waist of $
She does not teach, and no she doesn't do research either. She doesn't do anything. She's incredibly disorganized and I don't know how she still has a job.
I can't even express to you how much I hate this professor. No good at all, drop this class ASAP. Her exams are near impossible and good freaking luck with psych logs.
Some people will be god's at writing psychlogs... other will not, even if you score a 33 on the english for the ACT, and get 11/12 on the writing... she will still tell you that english may not be a good subject for you. This lady killed Psychology for me. Don't take her! if you have to... sorry :(
tests and psych logs are hard, but she does offer you the chance to do a draft psych log, and she will give you feedback on how to fix it. i wish i would have dropped this class. i haven't done good on any of my tests, and only one one psych log. she has a rude-type attitude and when you ask a question she stares at you like your an idiot.
Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Worst professor I have ever had. Grades so hard and tests are impossible to pass no matter how much you study.
I really thought that this professor was not at all as bad as the comments on this site made her out to be. She has an entire website dedicated to study guides, psych log directions, and general advice. She tells you exactly what is on the exam and has review sessions. To me, really not all that bad.
She is not at all as bad as the comments make her out to be. She is extremely helpful and makes class interesting. You will have to try, but it's college. I could have gotten an A, but it's my last semester so I slacked off a little bit. The whiny people who gave her bad ratings were probably just too lazy to do well in the class.
Ms. M is pretty helpful. I think people are turned off because she doesn't come off very personable. She is a brilliant teacher though, and she definitely knows what she is talking about. I wouldn't recommend this class for lowerclassmen. She is very particular with grading. All the tools you need to do well are given. Just apply yourself!
She really is a good professor. Her expectations are high but if you study, read the text, and study her power-point lectures, you will do fine. I was a freshmen this year taking her class and I got a B+.
Talks really fast. Good teacher. Just go to office hours.
She is honestly the worse teacher I have ever had! I am a A student but her class is 100% usless. Going to class is a complete waste of time because you dont learn anything! She feels like she is teaching a harvard class and isnt leanyant on anything! you better not make one mistake or you FAIL!! Dont take her I promise you will regret it!
This woman ruined psychology for me. I've taken 4 psych classes and up until this one I passed with A/B's and enjoyed the subject. She is RUDE in a sense that she makes you feel stupid when asking a ?. She acts as though we should already know what she is talking about. Her exams and psychlogs SUCK and are hard to pass! DO NOT TAKE HER!
Im going to major in psychr, last semester i was .05 off from getting a 4.0 WHATEVER YOU DO, do not take this class with this lady. Her exams and lectures really arent THAT bad if you study for a cpl hrs. However, i workd my ass off for the psychlogs she assigns & even turned em in early to be corrected...still barely got a C, ill b lucky wit a B
Dr. Elizabeth Meadows is by far the worst professor I have had so far at CMU. She is snotty and has a real attitude problem. Although she does have a useful website that is very informative, she grades her papers harder than my past english professors, and her tests are ridiculous. Do not take her.
She is really not that bad of a Professor. She is somewhat rude, but on the first day of class she warned us about her personality. It is a difficult class, but you're in college for a reason. If you're looking for a blowoff class then don't take her. Go to class, pay attention, take notes and take advantage of her office hours and you'll be fine.
i am an all a student and this was the only class i have ever failed. she expects u to no everythinggggg from the book and lecture for tests. she grades your psyc logs extremely hard. it is a minimum of a 4 page paper..i would write 8-10 just to try and get all the requirments she wanted. i would never recommend this teacher to anyone.
Let's face it, the class is hard. However, I found it extremely interesting and worth my effort. Dr. Meadows can be sort of aloof and rude at times, but she warned us. She grades fairly and outlines her expectations. If you don't write well you might have issues. Read the book, look over the notes, go to class, and look at her website.
Meadows is a great teacher. She is very intelligent and definitely knows her material! go to class, take the lecture notes, and read the book and you should do fine. She gives you practice questions which are used on the exam and guidelines for the psychlogs to follow. Very interesting class!
Horrible. Just horrible. I never tried so hard for a class in my life and I did terrible. She grades so hard on her Psychology Logs that it makes you think like you are a horrible writer.
She is completely unreasonable, rude, and not helpful. Her tests are super hard and her psych logs are impossible. I have no idea how anyone let her be a counselor with her lack of people skills. She completely wrecked psychology for me. I'm a A or B student and I am fighting to keep a low C. She needs to do research not teach.
Really sub par professor. She claims not to try and trick you on exams, but in reality the exams are very tedious and a tough read. The Psychologs are very annoying and she grades them unfairly with no real structure. Avoid her if you can.
The grade consists of Psychlogs and exams. I am normally a pretty good writer and have always done well in my classes but her grading on Psychlogs are nearly impossible to receive a good grade. I submitted drafts and still did poorly even after making all the corrections. She can be rude and talks quite quickly. Over all just a par teacher.
Wish I would've looked at the reviews before finding out what I was in for.She is intelligent, but isn't an effective teacher.Course consist of Psychlogs/Exams.She is VERY critical grading Logs.Exams are complex. She expects you to teach yourself the material. She is rude.Protect your GPA and stay away from this woman's harsh grading & teaching skills
Elizabeth Meadows is not a terrible professor. Yes, shes very critical on the psychlog papers. But this is college; if we are never corrected then we will never learn. Read the book and actually take in and learn the material. Too many students complain that she is not an adequate professor when they are not willing to put forth the needed effort
Meadows is by far the worst professor I had at CMU. Her class is near impossible to pass, I study hard and do my PsychLogs and I still receive bad grades. She is rude to students and not helpful what so ever. I have not had a professor as bad as her ever at CMU. I do not recommend her or her class!
Elizabeth meadows is the worst professor I have ever had at CMU. I had a 3.6 going into this semester and generally do really well in classes and I ended the semester with a 60%. I even went to her office hours and asked for her help and said based on my scores I wasn't trying hard enough.
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. She was rude and told me there was nothing she could do to help me study more. The class material isn't hard, but her tests are tricky and I don't know how I just scraped by with a C. I would not recommend her. Look for someone else.
Worst teacher I've ever had. All A student my entire life and had a 4.0 gpa until her class. Barely got a B. Does not teach well.
Meadows was an awful professor. To the point where I didn't even go to class and tried teaching myself the material. The material itself is really easy, it is the way she presents it and grades that got a student who gets basically all A's and B's a D in her class. Good luck asking questions too, because she comes off rude and disrespectful, too.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER! She grades insanely hard and gives you no chance to save your grade. She is unclear on what she wants you to write in your essays. Even if you turn it in early and fix all of your mistakes she gives you a bad grade! The lowest grade I have ever received! AND SHE IS RUDE IF YOU ASK FOR HELP!
The class had wonderful content and was very interesting. I made the mistake of not going to a couple lectures and when I didn't go I wouldn't do as well on the tests. She's a very hard grader and has high expectations but you can learn a lot from her if you are willing to put in full effort and never slack off.
I am usually an all A type of student, and I received a B- in this class. The papers she makes you write there is no feedback for and simply gives no points for certain sections often. An extremely hard grader. Exams are very difficult even if you read the textbook and study notes as I did still does not guaranteed you know the info needed.
Really tough tests and grader. I write A papers for the enligh department but for her I could not get anything above B-. You can write everything to her standards and still get really poor grades.
STAY AWAY
HORRIBLE! Do not take her class. Did everything she expected on papers and still get horrible grades. This class ruined my GPA. Tests are very difficult and when you meet with her for help she just basically tells you that she cant help you.
One of the most disrespectful professors I've ever had. She sent my whole class an email at the end of the semester telling us how bad we all did and pretty much saying it's all our fault and not hers. I've always been a good paper writer and got C's on all of hers. Wouldn't recommend.
Although a tough grader, she makes the class interesting. For the final, she takes questions of the prevoius exams so make sure to study from them. Exams were fine.
I would avoid taking this professor. She treats this class like a graduate class. Her tests are focused on if you know the in depth info, not just definitions. If you do have to take her, then I would definitely be proactive and read and take notes on before you talk about the chapters in lecture.
Rude. Disrespectful. Im appalled by how this professor treated me. Im usually an all A and B student, but she was impossible to please. I also took AP psych in high school and got a 5 on the test, but these exams my highest score was a 75% . I went in to get help and got yelled at and she assumed I just wasnt trying or studying but I was.
Dr. Meadows is a strange character. Brilliant, yet self-absorbed. Experienced, yet blunt, and often, plain rude. Organized/systematic, yet perfectionist. This is the hardest class I have taken in my life. She is a BRUTAL grader on papers and her expectations can only be met with 10+ hours of work outside of class per week. Good luck, psych majors.
Prof. Meadows is a very tough grader and her class is a little bit of a challenge. I took PSY 250 online and it moved very quickly. Make sure you get the textbook and read it, otherwise youll struggle.
She's not that bad. Sends pretty extensive weekly emails but they give sound advice. Organized. Ex cred opportunities. She extended a deadline for me even though she said my excuse wasn't valid (& it wasn't). I don't think there's anything wrong with being straightforward. Tough on papers but not unreasonable. I really liked her as an online prof!
I dont know why she gets a bad rep. This class is not a blow off class. If you are a good student that actually tries hard, and reaches out when they need help you will do fine. I learned so much in this class. I would take it over and over again if I could.
Dr. Meadows treats this course like its a 400 level class. She also happens to be very rude, as others have commented on here. Avoid at all costs.
She is VERY rude and passive-aggressive. I asked a question and was told "it's really not that complicated" She acts like she doesn't want to be bothered. If you want to learn, dont waste your time!!
Grades pretty hard, even with trying and make sure I met all questions asked in the assignments or discussion boards, I could never get even a 90%. She kind of rid, basically yelled at me because I didn't have an ID.. i'm not 21, I don't drive because i'm from a big city.. I just don't have one.
Shes nice, but very tough on papers.
Wow is all I can say about this professor. I would like to report her as I opened up about my mental health issues and she completely invalidated my anxiety. I even showed my therapist and she begged me to tell somebody higher up, I just can't see it going anywhere. Besides that she grades super hard and is very rude about assignments! STAY AWAY.
Meadows was alright, she had all of the assignments due at the end of the semester which was nice.
I had Dr. Meadows for PSY 250 Online. I almost didn't take the class because of all the negative comments on here. I stuck with the class and LOVED IT. It was seriously my favorite class at CMU. I'm not sure why she gets a bad rep. She was super responsive, constructive, and thorough. If you're willing to read and try in this class, you'll be fine.
I loved Professor Meadows. Yes, there is quite a bit of reading but you need to read to absorb the material. There are practice quizzes, which help a lot on exams. Studying the practice and actual quizzes are necessary to do good on exams. Sends extensive emails weekly, but they contain important info. Overall, super interesting class!
Prof. gives clear expectations. Heavy textbook use (a self-taught course). Make sure to take the practice quizzes and graded quizzes, as well as memorize the answers and questions. At least 80% of the questions on the exams would be taken from these. Very interesting course, and it isnt too difficult to get an A in. Assignments can be tough.
This class was awful. It was not interesting and the lectures didn't fully describe anything so you didn't understand anything when it came to the exams. Exams and paper were very hard and she grades everything super hard. My least favorite class by far.
Dr. Meadows is very good at what she does, and doesn't tolerate nonsense. She's straight to the point, which not everyone may be able to handle. But she gives plenty of opportunities to improve your grade and earn extra points. She listens to feedback, so if you want a change, tell her. Awesome prof.
This class was not in total difficult however it was frustrating. Directions for paper assignments were unclear and questions within quizzes are difficult to understand and may trip you up. After addressing several concerns within her extra credit assignment she responded by gaslighting and defending herself instead of listening or fixing issues.
She is very nice but she lectures in a room with the lights off and talks the whole time referring back to an outline she created. There is no way to pass and study unless you go because she only posts the content heavy pp from the actual book.
Professor Meadows was not horrible in any way. She cares about her work and students, however I feel as though she doesn't understand how we learn. She scraps everything to use an outline she made herself, and it makes the course extremely difficult.
Avoid if possible. As a Psych Professor I would think she would be understanding of the mental health aspects of things, but she is not. Does not understand how we learn and when I met with her for help I was basically yelled at and talked down to. Rubrics and lecture outlines make no sense grades extremely hard and does not help you in any way
Gives strong lectures that cover all necessary material, if you want to do good attend them. 4 exams were a majority of your grade, each over a manageable amount of material. Final was optional, could be used to replace an exam grade. light course-load. She had a snippy personality as others mentioned, but really is understanding and helpful.
get ready for two chapters a week, each with 80 slides per chapter. Oh, and lockdown quizzes to go along w each chapter. Two big papers to which she gives little to no instruction about, then grades incredibly hard. I am a person who has never had a paper score lower than an 80 and i got a 70 on her papers. take this class w someone else.
I liked Professor Meadows class. She offers a lot of extra credit throughout the class. The class is lecture heavy. All of the exams are online, and the assignments are all due at the same time. Would take again.
Very hard on papers and there is so much wording for the things she wants in your papers that in turn makes no sense. She treats this class as if it's a 400 level course especially with the papers. I also feel as though none of my work was good enough for her and I felt very belittled by her.
The reviews on Dr. Meadows very nearly made me drop this class. I'm thankful I didn't; she provided many opportunities for extra credit as well earning back lost points. She was flexible with due dates when life got in the way. I thoroughly enjoyed the class and Dr. Meadows gets an unfair reputation. I would happily take a class from her again.
I was hesitant to take the class due to all of the negative reviews, however I liked this course a lot! Professor Meadows was very kind and sent out weekly emails regarding each week of class. Exam questions are all pulled from quizzes, and the extra ungraded practice quizzes help a lot. Overall interesting and fun course!
Way too extensive for 8 week class. Very flexible late submission policy with prior notice. The expectations of this class are high and it is hard to achieve them. DO NOT take this class online with other classes. I don't feel as though I've Iearned anything. No answers or guidance on incorrect quiz answers- you have to figure it out on your own.
She is not clear with her instructions, her assignments and emails say two different things.
I would not recommend this course online or in person get ready for two quizzes each week, discussion boards, and an exam or assignment. The chapters are long and the quizzes are fine although on the exam there are questions that she randomly took from the book just to mess you up. Once again don't take her class, although the field is interesting.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!
Do not take this class, either take it in person or pick another instructor
Simply do not take her, get someone else and thank all of these reviews later.
This class can be challenging, but with the right approach it's manageable. The weekly quizzes and assignments require consistent effort, but Unstuck AI and the textbook are great study aids. Overall, an interesting course if you're willing to put in the work.
I was very mixed on my review. On one hand, she was extremely responsive and made sure to weekly let the class know what was due and when it was due. On the other hand, she was a very tough grader. She would take off points on written assignments like she expected us to be graduate level students. Tests weren't hard as long as you do the reading.
By far, this is the WORST professor I have had at CMU. The coursework wasn't necessarily hard, but she graded SO tough. Nothing is ever good enough for her, and she is extremely rude and unhelpful. I only got an A by dedicating all my time to this class and doing every extra credit offered. Horrible class and horrible professor!
She is a tough grader, and not my favorite professor, but she is a nice lady and provides a TON of extra credit (literally over 10% of a grade), and so it might be boring, and you might not get the best grades on papers, you will be able to make it up and get a high grade if you do the extra credit. Make a friend in her class and you will be fine!
Such a tough grader and is not a nice professor, DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
Professor Meadows was fair. This was a pretty intense class as far as amount of work and studying involved, but she does offer many extra credit opportunities was was AWESOME. She is pretty strict on grading, but I do feel that she is VERY precise on what she wants for each assignment, so read, reread and then reread her instructions again.
This class is very intensive and very fast-paced. Work ahead when you can and reread the instructions on assignments and weekly updates. Very tough grader on papers. Exam questions were right out of the textbook, so take lots of notes. She allows one paper front and back of notes for exams but that was never enough space for the notes I wanted.
Very tough grader. lets you have cheat sheets for tests. make sure you read the textbook (i did not and regretted it). Puts grades in early so you're grade drops before assignments are due. Attendance not mandatory but extra examples she gives helps. assignments all due at the end of the semester (schedule them throughout semester or ur cooked.)
Be prepared to get accused of AI. You are not allowed to use google or even a spellcheck. She will grade you like her life depends on it. Even when you submit evidence showing your honesty/work she will not give you credit. Very difficult to work with, doing entirely too much for a level 200 course. Save your academic integrity, take w/ anyone else
This professor is the worst person i've ever met. She deserves nothing but the worst, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. I wish I wouldve went to a different college. Be prepared to be accused non stop of AI and cheating even when you aren't. She should be fired immediately.
Be prepared to be blamed for cheating even when you dont. DO NOT TAKE. Transfer schools
