This class is miserable! After the class failed the third test she gave extra credit. The material is hard in general, but I feel like any other teacher could do a better job explaining. Attendance is taken every day, but is not counted toward your grade. I did all the quizzes and homework and still had a hard time. Take a different teacher.
very hard class
Prof. Miller definitely knows what she talks about. Theres no getting around it, accounting is going to be a difficult, time consuming class that is hard to teach and harder to learn. I feel that she teaches well, has reasonable expectations, and will help you when needed. Her tests are just really hard.
Just a really hard class in general. Miller is a good teacher, go to class. The tests are pretty hard though, you pretty much have to know every detail of everything to get an A on the test.
Very hard. Stay on top of it an you may get a D.
She is a great teacher, but this is just a HARD class, so shes doing the best she can. You have to put a lot of outside effort into studying so that you will understand the material to a tee before the test. Very fair. Attendance not required. I would recommend her!
Good teacher. Really hard class though. If you read the book and do the homework when she tells you to its not too bad.
She may smile once or twice the entire semester, but besides that, she's a good teacher. She's very clear with the material, and will help you. The tests are hard, you're definitely going to have to work hard if you want an A. Do the homework problems over and over. I'd take her again.
Very good teacher, but she takes it way to seriously. She may smile once or twice a semester. I would take her again for a graduate level class.
She is a good teacher, but she takes it too serously. She takes attendance at the end of class. Class is pretty hard though
This class is a hard class, but I would take it again. Her test are what makes the class hard so be prepared to study a few hours a week. Great and helpful teacher.
Miller is really not as bad as people make her out to be..she does smile/laugh & tell stories. First test was the hardest for me, & she takes attendance at the end of class. I received a hard earned A. She's not too hard or easy, & it is necessary to read the book!
Read the book and study and you can make an A. I didn't do enough of either and made a B.
Her first semester teaching the class. I literally made a 100. Two tests, both online, one being the final. You can take them at home, open book. The only time you need the book is when you are taking the tests. otherwise just go to class.
I enjoyed her class. She went over the same concepts two days in a row, so if you miss a day, you aren't behind. She provides homework relevant to the tests and quizzes on blackboard just for practice.
Let's be real, accounting is not a hard subject, and Miller makes it simple to understand. Read the book and do all the practice problems she gives you and you'll have an A.
This class was very easy! Mrs. Miller explains everything so well and does a ton of examples. She does not demand that much, so I don't know why you can make less than an A. Go to class, do some of the practice hw, skim the chapters, and you'll be fine on the tests! Don't waste your time studying for days for the tests, they're straight forward
Nice lady, hard class. Take someone else.
Take her if given the option! She's really nice and helpful... her tests were 25 MC and easy.
This class was one of the hardest classes i've taken at Auburn. I did fine on the first two tests but made a 40 on the third. GO TO CLASS. There is no way to teach this stuff to yourself. Reading the book helps for concept questions, but most of the test is solving problems. Tests were hard and always had tricky answers. great lady, hard class
cool prof. used youtube tutor for help. youtube "webster academy accounting".
Great teacher. Very clear in explaining a very difficult subject. The best practice for tests in the practice homework in each chapter. Does take a while to grasp each concept, but he is always up for helping students. Go to class. She takes attendance at the end of each class to stay the full time. Go to GTA hours to see missed questions on tests
Difficult class and dificult teacher. However, she is really nice and will help you if you make the effort. GO TO CLASS AND DO THE HOMEWORK!
Mrs. Miller is a great teacher. Mandatory attendance and quite a bit of homework. However, the homework really helps and the test are basically like the homework. I have an A but worked for it. Test are easy if you do the homework.
Miller was very straightforward and had high expectations for her students. Very good teacher!
Miller is great at explaining the concepts, and a very fair grader. Class is heavily based on the textbook -- read it and know it.
Miller is fantastic. She is great at explaining a subject that a majority of students despise. The class is a bit difficult and you will have to pay attention, but with a bit of work you should do fine. Read the book, work along with her as she does examples, and listen! She says specific things to pay attention to and those will be on the test.
Mrs. Miller is one of the best teachers I have had at Auburn. If you go to class (which you want to do in case you are a borderline grade at the end) and do the homework from the book you will do good on the tests. The online quizzes really don't help at all so don't worry too much about them. The 3rd test was the hardest for sure.. TAKE HER!
I have a feeling Financial Accounting is hard no matter who you take.. she didn't do a bad job of explaining it's just difficult material.
Class is pretty difficult. I think she makes test too hard and typically have tricky answers. Don't let the sound of multiple choice fool you! Class is mandatory and very boring.
Best teacher you can get for such a dreary subject. She's so easy to talk to, and completely reasonable. She will teach you what you need to know, but you gotta work for it. So glad to have had her as a professor. Test 2 and on aren't easy, but she will do what she can to make sure you know whats up.
If accounting isn't your major, you're not going to love this class, but Miller makes it doable. She's really helpful and makes sure to explain all the material thoroughly. That said, her tests are tricky. Make sure you do ALL the practice homework and really understand it. ACCT's not my thing, but Miller's great and I made an A. TAKE HER!
I have no interest in accounting or math, so this class was so boring. the homework is easy and the tests are not bad. I rarely used the book. You can miss 9 classes unexcused during the semester, after that you fail. Hard as an 8am but she is nice.
I really liked her. She loves what she teaches and goes slow so we understand. Homework is harder than test questions and notes. Tests are a little difficult. She's very laid back. Take her!
I thought the class was a pretty easy and manageable. Homework due periodically that helps your grade.. Do a ton of practice problems before the test and you'll do fine! Does a great job explaining a hard subject and is easily approachable to ask questions. I advise to take her!
A very nice lady. Works everything from the books. Study the homework given and you are golden. Tests are pretty difficult, like 8 out of 10.
She is very fair and nice. Definitely have to keep up with homework and the book and study for tests. Especially tests 3 and 4.
Nice lady, tough material. Just 4 tests and 5 or so homework assignments that count for hardly anything. She explains everything to the best of her ability, you just have to work pretty hard for an A. It's possible
Class was extremely boring but she was a great teacher for the course. She explains everything well and if you take notes and study the slides, an A isn't too difficult to get. The tests are hard but its all more or less stuff she went over in class so pay attention. In short: boring, but thorough and fair
While this class is not the easiest or most fun in nature, Mrs. Miller does a great job teaching it. She is very clear and willing to help you. The tests can be very tricky, but if she realizes the class average is low, she will offer extra credit opportunities. Going to class and reading the book will get you a B, but an A takes extra studying.
Mrs. Miller is great! She's very good at explaining the material, but you have to pay attention. Let your mind wander for a few minutes and you'll end up spending half an hour trying to figure out what she was talking about. Go to every class, pay attention, take good notes and do all of the practice problems and quizzes! I LOVED her class.
This class is hard, but she makes it interesting and as enjoyable as it can be. She doesn't joke that often, but she does have a sense of humor and will try to be accommodating to her students. Do every piece of bonus work you can, and do all the homework even though a lot of it isn't graded. That's the only way you can get an A in this class.
Mrs Miller is super cool. She'll scare you at first, but I swear she has a sense of humor. You just have to get into the material and attend classes, if you sit towards the front she'll probably remember your name and be pretty helpful when the exams come up. Take her, I would again!
You get 8 absences for the class but you won't pass if you miss more than 3 or 4 days. She's very good at lecturing and she gives out a few graded homeworks and lots of optional homeworks. She also posts online questions - those help the most when studying for tests. Tests are extremely hard and only 25 questions, so be ready to study.
I don't think I understood a single thing all semester. She knows what she's doing but not very good at explaining and she's intimidating to talk to outside of class for help.
She's a really nice lady, but the class itself is tough. She is very thorough and tries to make the material bearable but you have to work hard to get an A.
The thing will Millers class is that the material is VERY dry. Unless you find and develop an interest for accounting then you won't do well. I struggled to stay awake in each class because it was so boring. Tests are hard but if you know how to do the problems in the book then you should do well. The final is impossible.
Her class is very interesting but her tests are awful! I did all the examples in the book and studied for days before her tests and still couldn't figure her tests out. The concept will make complete sense in class, but come the test, it's about 10x more difficult. Know your definitions, she'll use them and it'll at least be some points...
This class is extremely difficult. If you understand the material and know how to work the problems you may still only get D's on her tests.
Miller is pretty nice, but this class gets harder as time goes on. Not only do you have to read and do all of the homework problems, you have to understand the concepts to do well. Tests are all MC, which is pretty tricky. Definitely do homework and read, you should be fine.
Mrs. Miller was a great professor. She explained everything very well. Not a lot of homework, but the tests were very challenging. The questions were worded in ways that made you unsure about topics you thought you knew. As a whole though she makes an unexciting subject pretty interesting and prepares you well for higher level courses.
Miller is a nice lady. She has a sense of humor and knows what she's talking about when it comes to accounting, but is very difficult to understand. I studied for days in advance before her tests and got mainly C's and low B's. She makes you work for your grade and tests are tough.
Miller knows what she is talking about. She is an excellent teacher, and prepares students for future accounting classes. Her tests are tough, but I made A's and B's on all of them. Go to class and use the book to study, and you will do fine.
She knows her subject well and explains the material very well however the course itself can be very tough. Material can get confusing at time. Study partners or a tutor is highly recommended. Tests cover only 1-2 chapters but go into great detail. DO ALL THE PRACTICE HOMEWORK. She wants you to actually learn not just memorize. DO NOT TAKE 8 AM!!!!
This class is not bad if you pay attention and do the hw. Miller is good at explaining the material, although the class is pretty dry. She looks like a strict principal, or librarian.
up to 8 absences allowed, more than that is automatic F. hard class, everything relies on the beginning material and the first test, so do well early. will give some extra credit at the end of the semester, which will be a homework assignment that adds points back to tests.
Hard as heck!!!!! Test are crazy HARD!!! Don't be fooled by her 1st day I'm not that tough... She is HARD, test are HARD!!!! Get out while you can!!!!!
Miller made accounting so clear. Go to class, pay attention, and you will will do fine. She makes it clear what will be on her tests and what you will need to know. She assigns one homework assignment per test, and it is usually going over the toughest main concept that will be on the test. Recommend her.
Mrs. Miller is a great teacher. If you read the slides/book before you come to class and do the practice homework 3 or 4 times before the test, you will be golden. Your grade is going to show by how much effort you put in. Practicing problems is essential.
Very difficult. She tends to be very heavy on the calculations in class but the exams barely have any calculation questions. You need to study to do well. Be extra careful with the second exam, it will throw you off.
Miller is a very intelligent professor, and her lectures are informative, but the class was hard. If you want an A you have to work for it, and always take advantage of bonus points if she gives them!
Ms. Miller is an awesome teacher. She really explains the material well but she does go really fast. If you don't read the powerpoints before class you will be totally lost. I highly recommend her you just need to put in the time for practice problems and reading before class. I got an A which was really hard but possible. Start off well.
TAKE HER! most clear and thoughtful acct teacher at auburn. tests are from homework problems if you do them! go get help early if you need it, she is more than willing to help and her GTA is AWESOME!
Mrs. Miller goes extremely fast. If youre like me and dont put much time into homework outside of class you will seriously struggle. I am a straight A student with minimal effort but i cam out with a C in this class.
She is terrible. Class average was a 55-60% by the second test. She moves incredibly fast and going to her office for help was basically useless. Her questions are designed to trick you. She told the class not to worry about Petty Cash Fund and that it wouldn't be on the test but for maybe one problem. Petty Cash turned out to be 20% of that test.
She is tough, moves pretty quick and expects you to do the work. However, she is also reasonable, clear, and helpful if you ask for it. You EARN this grade.
Miller is a great teacher who really knows her stuff. Unfortunately the tests are multiple choice and her lectures do not prepare you for the tests. Read the book, and make sure you know each section because the content in this course builds on itself. Hard class, heard there was an easier teacher
She is an excellent teacher who is very good at teaching difficult content. Everything on the tests is covered on the power points and practice homework. She even works practice problems in class to make sure that students really understand what she just taught. As long as you pay attention in class and study, you should do well.
I LOVE Mrs. Miller. She is very clear on her expectations and good at explaining the content. If you show up to class, do the practice homework, and pay attention, there is no reason for you not to get an A. That being said, if you do not do the practice homework at least once, you will not pass. It's not mandatory, but do it.
hardest class i've taken at Auburn. just don't do it.....
Absolutely awful teacher and mean personality. Take someone else for accounting
I took Mrs. Miller for Acct 2110 and I really liked her. She's very straight forward and doesn't throw any surprises. As the semester went on, she loosened up and got friendlier in class. DO THE PRACTICE HOMEWORK! I could have done way better on tests if I had studied harder and actually had done the unassigned homework.
A class that is already hard she makes incredibly painful. Sadly if you a business student you have very little choice, but to take her class. If you don't have to take this class stay far far away.
I took it in a minimester, so we had to read a chapter a night and go to class every day for an hour and a half so it was just a lot of material in a short amount of time. The stuff you learn isn't necessarily hard, it's just a lot and you have to know it all if you want to make a good grade. The textbook is very necessary.
She does not teach. She simply works examples full of abbreviations she makes up and does not give you time to figure out what any of it means. You have to teach yourself all of the material. Do not take this teacher. If you have to wait an extra semester to take accounting to get another teacher, do it.
Miller makes this class way more difficult then it needs to be. I knew all the material inside and out and practiced the optional homework two times each and read all the chapters, but she makes the tests confusing and they are all multiple choice so if you mess up one tiny calculation you miss the whole thing. Take the other teacher! Trust me
The class was pretty difficult. I made a 100 on all of the homeworks, but it felt like the tests were intentionally trying to trip people up. The tests were really hard, but she implied that it was the students' faults that the test average was a 60 or below. The only saving grace for this class is a perfect attendance is 10 points on the final.
Lectures are not interesting, but you have to pay attention to do well on the exams. The practice homework helps tremendously. She moves quickly, so reading the chapter beforehand helps.
I really enjoyed Financial Accounting with Miller. Make sure to read the book before class and work the practice homework several times before the test. This is definitely a weed out course for accounting. She tells funny stories. You get 10 bonus points on the final if you don't have any excused absences. You have to put in the time to do well!
She is very good and definitely tries her hardest to teach the information and help you out. If you go to every class she will give you extra points and after a bad test she may even round your grade up if you do the homework.
I enjoyed this class but the tests are pretty tricky. She is fairly helpful during office hours. I would highly recommend looking over your test after you take it to see how she tests. Go to every class to get extra credit
The material of this class isn't too bad, but she makes the tests really tricky. If you don't read the chapters or do the unassigned homework then you probably won't pass. Lectures are pretty boring and just a bunch of examples, but if you pay close attention, then it isn't too bad.
She makes the tests harder than the problems in the book that she gives you to study. Its like she's trying to weed out the business majors. She also makes test 3 impossible and the grades are never good every year but she never changes it lol
It is very easy to get confused/behind in this class because it is very fast paced. If you stop paying attention for 5 minutes you will probably be lost. Attend all lectures because you'll get 10 bonus points on your final & trust me, you'll need it. The assigned homework helps boost grade. If you don't do the practice homework you'll prob fail
Miller is a great teacher. Her class is extremely difficult, and you earn your grade in this class. Do the practice homework periodically, because if you leave it until the night before the test, you can't finish it. And if you don't do the practice problems, you won't do well on the test. Tests are tricky, but she's really nice!!
This is a hard class, but she is a good teacher and manages her time well. Do the practice problems, go to the TA's office hours, and find a tutor if you need one. This is not the class to get behind on, if you go into it with a good work ethic it will pay off. You definitely earn your grade in this class.
Mrs Miller has good intentions, but if you don't tend to like un-personable teachers I would avoid taking her. There is a lot of material to cover and she doesn't really give "real world" examples to help understand it. You go and she works problems and slides from the book but doesn't go out of her way to elaborate on things. Tough teacher.
Good teacher; tests are just like the problems she works in class; easy A if you go to class and pay attention
If you care about your GPA, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I was told to wait a semester to avoid taking this professor, but I did so well in previous accounting courses that I thought I would be fine. NO! Wait a semester if you have to. She knows her exams are impossible, but doesn't change them. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR!!
This class was one of the hardest I've ever taken, especially if you're not great at accounting. She moves extremely fast during the lectures, the tests are hard and once you get behind it's hard to catch up again. She is very un-personable and hard to approach. The tests are only 25 MC questions and covers lots of material. Do not take her class.
She's a really effective teacher. It's accounting, so it will be difficult. She once told me the best way to ace her class is to spend 30-45 minutes a day reading the material and working problems. The more you look at the material, the better you'll know it and the better you'll do. Her advice has proven right for every ACCT class I've taken since
She's straightforward, her examples are helpful. However, this class is already very difficult and she has no pity. She didn't give any kind of study guide for the final, and it seems that she purged her Canvas page of answers keys for previous homeworks and class PowerPoints before finals. Don't take Miller. Spare your GPA.
Professor Miller's class is tough and her lectures can be boring at time, but she really is a nice person. She understands her class is tough and offers a lot of extra credit and she is accessible after class. If you go to class and study you should be able to make a good grade
Mrs, Miller is a very nice lady. However when it comes to accounting her test are very wordy and can often times trick you. I have never used a whole notebook in a college class until this one. I attended every single class and NO extra credit was given. THIS CLASS IS SO HARD!!! Do not take it..
When it comes to lecture Mrs. Miller reads straight off the slideshow which is posted to canvas. Then she will work problems out of the book. Often times, she will fly through the problem so fast you cant even get it written down much less comprehend how to complete the problem. Heavy 25 mc test!
Professor Miller is not a good teacher. She reads straight off of the powerpoint and does problems in class that are not like the ones on the test. She makes the tests way harder than they need to be. Everyone does bad on the 3rd test and she never changes it. Avoid her class if you can, if you can't read the book it's the only thing that may help.
Do ALL the homework she assigns at the end of the chapter. Read the chapter. She is tough but i made an a.
Go to class and do ALL of the practice homework. It's quite difficult to do well if you try to teach yourself this and don't practice it. But with some effort and consistency you'll be fine. I got an A on each exam.
Professor Miller's class is very difficult, but she is also a very good teacher. If you go to class, pay attention, and take notes on every problem she works you will do well in her class. She is a very nice person but she is straight to the point and focuses on the material of the class. Tests ARE very difficult and there is not any extra credit.
The most difficult class I've taken at Auburn University. I never missed a lecture and followed along during each class, and felt I had a thorough understanding of the material, but got stuck trying to work out every question on the test in the time allotted. Absurdly hard tests+no help with homework. Will be taking w/a different prof next semester
You earn your grade. Read the textbook, pay attention in class, and do the practice hw. Stop paying attention for 5 min and you will be lost. She works a lot of practice problems. Tests are difficult, but she makes it so where the test average is about a 60 with extra credit after the test or a curve. Nice lady but this class harder than necessary.
Took this class Sophomore year and it was a blast. Mrs. Miller is a fantastic teacher, but rushes through problems she explains in class. If you don't come to class nor you use the textbook, YOU WILL FAIL. Very lenient on homework and usually scales one test out of the year. If you want to do good, make sure to do all the hw she assigns and study.
This class is ridiculously hard. I went to peer tutors, SI multiple times, missed class a handful of times. Felt super confident about the first two tests & made a 76 and a 36. She doesn't describe the material in-depth or well at all. Best thing about her is she responds to emails super fast - that's it. Oh if you miss class 8 times, she fails you
If you want a professor that is straightforward and will tell you what you need to know, take Miller. If you want to get an A in this class, it's going to require work outside of class (reading the book/notes, doing practice and assigned hw) but if you commit 30 mins-1hr a night, you can do it. Great professor, just don't expect any handouts.
Lectures are sometimes long & boring! Save yourself & don't take this class!! Even going to SI & study hours doesn't really help. Class isn't that hard just take A MUCH BETTER PROFESSOR!!! IF THIS IS YOUR LAST OPTION STILL DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She literally made fun of the failing averages of her classes.
Hardest class i have ever taken
Mrs. Miller is a great lecturer she explains everything really well. however, if you don't pay attention you will fail. All tests are multiple choice but the questions are difficult. Not much homework but she does give some extra credit. She wants her students to succeed but she is not gonna give away grades.
I took this class under the assumption that I would probably end up dropping after reading the terrible reviews on here. However, I ended up loving Mrs. Miller! If you do the work for this course, are willing to study hard, and pay attention in class you will do just fine. Don't skip class!! You will miss a ton!
This was the HARDEST class I have ever taken in college. 11/10 would NOT recommend this class. The homework is not bad, but the Test are just made really difficult.
If you like numbers you will be fine. Easy class for numbers people. Really enjoyed the structure too. 5 tests, 5 homeworks, and 1 extra credit. Easy pass, and if you really prepare for tests, an A is not out of the picture.
You want to take this class with her? You better come to class EVERY lecture! Also you better be prepared to read. Her tests are tough and shell try to trick you on the questions. Do the problems after every chapter, theyll help prepare you for the test. SI did not help me much but some said it did them.
She purposely tries to trick students on tests, horrible lectures and lots of work required to get a good grade. She does not have her students in her best interest and the lectures are bland.
She is a hard teacher. You have to read the textbook and do the practice problems to pass. Attend SI if you can. I appreciated how hard she was because she really made you learn the material, this is not a class you can just sail through. It is hard and requires work every day.
She always made her homework super easy and her tests ridiculously hard which was just annoying. She takes material that should be fairly easy and tricks you with all of the trick questions on the tests. Not to mention her lectures are very boring. Loved the material, really hated the class.
Professor Miller teaches this class in a large lecture hall and references the textbook often. All of her example problems came directly out of the textbook, hence why I think she wasn't a teacher as much as she was a reader.
Mrs. Miller is a fantastic professor, but you need to put in some work in order for you to see it. Make sure you read the chapter before class so when she talks about it in lecture, you can understand it better. It's also beneficial to do practice problems to make sure you can do it well. MAKE SURE TO PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS.
She is fair and definitely cares about covering the material so you understand it. However, you HAVE to read the textbook & attend to pass! She takes attendance every class! Homework & extra credit can help you, but you need to go to her GA's SI sessions, class & read read READ!!! Also, after most tests, she gives the class's average for that test.
she seems like she would rather be doing anything else than teaching. honestly dont know if you could call it teaching. she reads off the slides and references the book. not much help.
One of the greatest professor I've met in Auburn. She is full of passionate and you can learn a lot of useful knowledge in her class. You do not need to do so much homework and if you do some pre-work it will be easy to get A. Some people may say it's hard to get A that's because they didn't prepare before class and didn't listen in class.
Dr. Miller is great. She doesn't require attendance, however it really helps as she goes over all the problems in the book. The grade is made up of 4 tests (and a final) and some homework assignments. Depending on the test averages she sometimes also offers extra credit, but don't rely on that. You definitely need to read the book before class too.
Dr. Miller is such a great professor! The class is based on 4 tests and a final, which is not cumulative, and homework. And sometimes, she will give extra credit homework. Attendance is not required, but she knows who is there and who is not, and she says it definitely reflects in their grade. Go to class, pay attention, and do the homework!
Miller makes it very hard to pass this class, she lectures the entire 75 minutes. Makes homework due at very weird times. Test are super hard. She expects you to know everything and never slows down to help. WOULD not recommend.
Every test of the class is super difficult and the lot of homework....
I would rather transfer to The University of Alabama and live inside of Bryant Denny Stadium than spend more than 3 and a half minutes in this woman's lecture. Are you thinking about possibly being sick for more than 24 hours this semester?? Think again, you probably have a test in accounting that day. Don't do it man. you'll thank me later.
I liked Mrs. Miller, however she is very stern... you can tell by the first day of class. She will lecture T H E W H O L E C L A S S - however if you just keep up and put distractions away it isn't too bad. Sometimes on homework she will count it as extra credit towards your last test.
Hands down the WORST professor I've had at Auburn. Lectures the whole time and teaches as if you are already supposed to be an expert in Accounting. Does not explain clearly AT ALL. You could study every homework or textbook page but the questions on the test are asked in a completely different manner then what is stated in her classes. DO NOT TAKE
If you take Mrs. Miller, you will need to give most of your time to this class. She lectures the entire time, but if you stay focused and take notes it makes sense. She definitely doesn't mess around, there's a test about every two weeks. Overall, her tests are very fair based on what she taught and are straightforward if you studied a ton.
Honestly shocked there is a single positive review on here. Hardest class I've ever taken. Ever. Her lectures are more confusing than helpful, and her test averages range from a 60-70. One was a 43. I'm a mostly A student, and I have never studied so hard for a class to still make bad grades. I even got tutoring. Whatever you do, take someone else.
Might be the worst teacher at Auburn University. Understand all of the material and study for hours upon hours? Odds are it doesn't matter. I am in engineering with a business minor and without a doubt the worst/hardest class I have had. The material itself isn't bad, just this teacher. Take someone else.
She is very clear on how your grade is calculated, and nothing in this class is a surprise. No matter who you have you shouldn't expect to receive an A if you're not going to do the work. On the first day of class she tells you how to succeed, and if you do those things an A or B is not out of reach. Hard subject, not a hard/bad teacher.
The exams are very difficult, also a lot of homework to do, not recommended.
Ms. Miller is a good professor. She is very stern and not very friendly, but she teaches the material well. So many people find this class to be hard, but if you put in the work and really study, you should make an A, no problem. There are homework assignments, but a lot of times, she'll use them as extra credit on tests. I would take her again.
This is a hard class no doubt but Ms. Miller really cares about the subject and wants you to succeed if you're willing to put in the work. Expect chapter homework and studying for tests a solid 3-4 days before at minimum. Her notes in class are slightly confusing but once you read the chapter it will start to make sense. Also, the tests aren't easy
Elizabeth Miller is above and beyond my least favorite teacher that I have ever had. Accounting is a hard class, and Miller does not make it any easier. I would highly recommend taking any other teacher for ACCT 2110. She makes her tests far too difficult, and her lectures are boring and mostly unhelpful.
Mrs. Miller covers everything in lecture so do not skip and write everything she says even if it's not on the slide. Mrs. Miller is great but you must put in the extra work outside class. Textbook is online and the site has lot of practice problems and tests that help a lot. Much of the multiple choice questions on the tests came from here.
Homework is super easy. Gives bonus for the first two tests and the final just for doing the homework. Tests are pretty difficult, but I do think anyone could get an A in this class. Definitely need to go to every class, take good notes (especially on anything she writes on the board), and study hard for the tests.
This is the hardest class Ive taken already 40 days in. Miller doesnt make it any better. She does not teach, but simply does problems, not explaining the why behind anything she does. First two test averages were 65.5 and 47.8. She has not mentioned scaling at all yet. She is just an awful teacher, and on top of that, the class is insane.
Absolute worst professor I have ever taken. AVOID HER.
The absolute worst teacher I have had at Auburn. Just made a 60 on my last test and was 12 points above the average. Very challenging class and she does not even teach in class. She will pull up a powerpoint slide and be on it for 5 seconds until she goes to the next one. Does not even explain the problems she works out. Stay away from this lady.
She does not teach well. Everyone who ever has her complains. I only took her because all of the other accounting classes were full. She reads from a PowerPoint, and writes down what is already on it, as if it is something you cannot do yourself. She is very monotone. I have been to every class, and still have done poorly on the exams.
Read the chapter before class, pay attention in class and do the practice problems in book and you'll be fine. Hard subject but she is not a terrible teacher
This Accounting class is extremely hard but Miller is a great professor. All the claims about her are unfair. Miller explains everything clearly through doing examples. I recommend reading definitions in powerpoint before going to class, then concentrate on how she solves the examples. For students who are good at math, you will like this class.
She is a great professor, who often gets a bad rep, but your effort outside of class will determine your grade. The book is very helpful in fully understanding the concepts. It all comes down to how bad do you want to excel in her class. I got a B, but an A is not impossible given you put in the effort.
Miller gets a bad rep. She cares about how you do in her class and wants you to excel. You HAVE to go to class and follow along with her example problems. Also do the exercises she assigns. Her tests are challenging and you have to prepare for them in order to do really well on them. Her class is for sure not an easy A but possible if you study!
Skip class? won't pass, go to class won't pass. GET OUT!
The class averages for the first two tests were in the 50s if that says anything about her teaching.
Financial accounting in general is just hard it makes it even worse when you have a professor who does not teach or explain very well. Tests are very confusing so even if you have an understanding of the topics the wording and questions make things much worse.
I have had all A's thus far in my college experience. However, Miller has changed this. She lacks passion for the content and is not a good teacher, putting it nicely. It would be easier to resurrect dinosaurs than it would be to succeed on her tests. The tests are extremely tricky and poorly worded. Every test average was near failing. AVOID.
Truly the worst professor that I've had.
Worst professor at Auburn. We have taken four tests this semester and not a single test had a passing average for the class. Avoid her at all costs.
Mrs. Miller is the best professor I have had at Auburn so far. Those who say otherwise, frankly, will not do any better in other classes. She gives you everything you need for the test and she even gives extra credit if the class average is low. She sets you up to succeed but it's up to you to study and do well. Ignore negative reviews, take her!
The professor is able to accurately communicate how to solve problems that come up involving the material. The main issue is that most of the lectures are problem based while the test are concept based. There is never a clear direction to study for the test, hence the low scores. The averages on every test was in the 50s even with bonus points.
Challenging course, but an A is possible if you pay attention to the examples in class and DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS. She also offered around 30-40 points in extra credit on exams. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you need to be in class to see her work problems and explain concepts. Great professor, would take again
On the 1st day of class Prof Miller told us everything we need to do to succeed, read the text book, do the practice problems, and come to class. Do these things and youll be fine. Her tests are difficult, but if you really read the textbook youll have no trouble. She actually makes you work for your grade.. its horrible, right?!
I hated Miller. Her tests are very hard. I ended up with a D and I've never gotten below a B before. Take another teacher if you have the chance.
Miller gets a bad rep but is actually very fair and gives you the information necessary to succeed. Definitely DO THE EXERCISES, study the slide shows, and pay attention in lectures because the tests can be difficult but the information is there. She gave 50 test bonus points total which was very helpful. Study and youll be fine.
You can show up to every class, take good notes, do well on the homework/practice exercises, read the textbook and notes and still fail the tests. The lectures are very dry. Take the class in the afternoon and make sure to drink coffee beforehand or you will fall asleep. Take another professor if you can.
Homework is nothing at all like tests. She does not explain what she is doing at all during her lectures. Take another professor. Miller is an awful teacher and does not prepare students for the tests whatsoever.
The tests are all multiple choice and doesn't reflect what she teaches in class whatsoever... Homework is easy and follows the lectures and is usually fill in the blank, etc. (as most accounting tests are). Tests are confusing; even if you know the material down to the nail, you will still be stumped on all of the tests and likely be disappointed.
This professor was extremely unprofessional, even with COVID19. She refused to alter expectations after moving to online. Her tests were unclear and were not similar to the homework at all. She gives monotone lectures that, even when attending all lectures and taking notes, dont help prepare for the tests at all. TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR
I have NO idea how she has a favorable rating. She does not make a genuine attempt to actually teach the curriculum and instead rambles incoherently through lectures so don't count on actually learning anything. She takes pride in her bad reputation, and will fail as much of the class as she can without getting herself in trouble with the school.
Miller is not caring, not approachable, and not exciting. She wants nothing more than to teach accounting in all its glory. Most people make a D or and F on every test, but if you do the homework you will get a few points back. Avoid her if you can, but if you have to take her, study very well and expect a C.
Taken as remote online learning during summer minimester. Tests are very specific but all straight from lectures/power points/practice examples. Do the homework (adds bonus points to curve test grades). Grade: 3 tests & non-cumulative final plus homework grades. All-Access material. Slow talker (played all lectures on 2xSpeed and still followed.
For an online class it wasnt the best. We never once spoke to her in-person actually unless u scheduled a zoom office hour meeting. She uploads all the lectures prerecorded, making for a flexible schedule but u have to be diligent about the work. Exams were very hard and not always super applicable to lectures, averages on all exams in the 60s
Professor Miller is easily one of the worst professors I have had at Auburn. Her tests are extremely difficult with class averages of around 50%. Even though her class average was a failing grade, she made no attempt to re-evaluate her teaching or offer any help to students. If you plan on spending 50 hours a week on this class, you'll do alright.
She is someone you want to avoid, you can do everything to study but GOD FORBID she puts the material on the test that you studied. It is extremely difficult just to pass let alone make an A. She glorifies her teaching and does NOT care about you.
Online lectures are awful and unclear. Class averages for test were under 50%, homework was nothing like test material, all around bad teacher.
Mrs. Miller is lecture heavy (meaning 2 hour long recorded lectures on only a few concepts), unsympathetic, and overall a bad teacher. The homework and recorded lectures do not correlate to the exams. All exams this semester have been failing averages, yet she does not care one bit.
Shes not as hard as anyone says she is. As long as you pay attention during lecture. do the homework, and study the lectures, an A is definitely attainable. Especially if you get the extra credit points from homework.
she gives out one lecture per chapter, don't watch these lectures they will leave you more confused. Your best chance is to read the book cover to cover and get outside tutoring help. The average was always in the 50's and instead of changing her teaching style she sent our class an email telling us where we went wrong.
Took this as an online class thinking it shouldn't be too bad because it was only fundamentals of accounting. Was very wrong about the difficulty. Homeworks are math based, tests are all conceptual with similarly worded answers. Wants you to study 3 hours a day every day (no I'm not exaggerating). Doesn't curve. Good luck.
Don't take her. Exams are nothing like the homework. Expects you to study 4 hours a day. Average on all the tests are 50s and she doesn't curve.
Avoid this professor at all costs. Her lectures are horrible because she speaks very slow and is not good at explaining things. Her exams are extremely difficult and are worth a good percentage of your grade. If you get stuck with this professor you are much better off dropping the class and taking it at southern union.
Hardest class Ive taken at auburn BY FAR. You have to study 24/7 to get an A in this class and even then Ive struggled. The book really helps and she recommends reading each chapter 4 times. We got a 15 point curve on every test so thats the only reason we passed. Not as bad as everyone says bc most dont put in the work but def not a star prof.
Lectures make you far more confused than if you were to just read the book. Average test scores were 50s and 60s. Basically, if you want an A you need to read the textbook and hire a tutor. She's a terrible teacher and her feedback is telling you to read the textbook 7 times over and watching her excruciatingly boring lectures 3 times over.
Avoid this lady at all costs. Shes the straight up devil. Makes the class much harder than it needs to be. Required studying to get an A is about 4 hours a day. Even then the people with As were still struggling with the material.
I'm sure Mrs. Miller is a nice person but she is a terrible professor. Her lectures are quite confusing and she talks extremely slow. You will be better off just reading the book. The tests are not terrible but they are not on the material covered in the homework. The class average was always a D or F on tests but she gives bonus points on them.
shes terrible. boring lectures, hard tests, class average was 50-60 on every test
Only take this course if you plan to major in accounting. Two tips: 1) Read the book front to back at least once. If you do not fully understand the concepts, her word problems will bite you. 2) Practice the problems in class as a foundation to practice problems in textbook. HW's don't really help. No study guide. If you don't wanna study, drop now
Professor Millers online accounting class has the worst structure of any online class Ive taken. She gives absolutely no information about what the tests will cover, and they don't cover anything on the homework you do. Im sure she would be a fine professor in a classroom environment, but gd the online environment of this class is abysmal.
Miller is the WORST teacher at Auburn. Her Intro to Accounting class was recorded from 2 years ago and isn't accessible outside of class. Her test are extremely hard even after doing EVERYTHING she says to do. I beg you to choose another teacher because you will not get a good grade in this class even after studying 3 hours a day.
When I took this class is was online asynchronous. The lectures are long and the tests are hard. She does give extra credit on tests (10-15 points) if you complete the homework. I don't personally recommend her, but if you have to take her class I recommend getting a tutor.
Ms Miller is a nice person, but her lectures and homework are pointless. The only way to do 'okay' in her class is to read the textbook. Her class averages were around a 40-60% and it was honestly so hard. It should've been a lot easier, and this is coming from a girl with a 3.5 GPA in Engineering and I still got a C. Do not take her
Avoid this at all costs. This teacher completely disregarded the necessity of knowing t-accounts and regular journal entries before diving into her heinous lectures. All information goes completely over students heads, her notes are sloppy and handwriting is less than a 5 year olds. If you have never taken accounting, TAKE SOMEBODY ELSE.
Engineering student taking class for minor. Not a hard class. Prepared for exams a few days before exam. Read the chapters (important). Watch the lectures to solidify understanding. Do homework. Skim the book, slides, and study questions on Cengage the day before the exam. Didn't do suggested problems. 15 bonus pts/exam. Didn't hear from her much.
She gives you everything you need to pass. Just watch the lectures at 2x, read the book, make vocab flashcards, and do the practice. I didn't put as much effort into reviewing, so I didn't make an A. Otherwise, it was a simple, straightforward class.
By far the worst professor Ive had at Auburn. Posts long and boring lectures and the homework was nothing like the exams. The average score on every exam was a D. Didnt do anything live whether it be in person or Zoom and the lecture videos were from almost a year ago. Avoid her at all costs.
If you are lazy and just want to be handed a good grade, like most of the other reviewers of this professor, you won't do well in this class. You have to watch the lectures, do the practice problems, and read the book. It is a lot of work for an introductory class, but Mrs. Miller is very generous with extra credit if the class average is low.
She's not a bad professor but the book helps clarify a lot of concepts she covers. I would read the textbook and only look at her lectures for the examples she gives and how to solve them. Homework is due the day before tests. they count as extra credit added onto your test grade and you can take the homework an unlimited amount of times.
If you are able to, totally skip this class. Professor Miller requires you to pay $15 per test and schedule it 3 days in advance. The tests have nothing to do with the homework and lectures. This class is a waste of time and degrading towards your GPA. This is literally the worst class I've ever taken in my whole life. Skip on Professor Miller.
She's not a bad professor, but this class will be difficult. I worked 3 times as hard in this class compared to my others to earn the grade I did. READ. THE. TEXTBOOK. It helps with the concepts she covers in class. Start studying extremely early, and you'll have to dedicate time every day to this class. If you put in the effort an A is possible
The big question in college is simple: whats on the test?. With this class, the answer to that question is akin to a crap shoot in Las Vegas. She uploads years old lecture videos on Canvas, which are monotonous and drone on for hours in a robotic, unenthused tone that is damn near impossible to listen to. Steer clear, y'all.
You will hear from her maybe 5 times throughout the semester if you are lucky. Her lectures are useless. Only graded on homework and the 4ish tests but none of it matches with what you do for HW. You have to pay $15 to take each test on ProctorU Live. Our online class has 200+ people in it and every class test average is a 50%. DO. NOT. TAKE.
Given the poor selection of accounting professors for this class, Miller might be better than the other options but this class is still rough. After the curve, I made 90-97s on all of the exams except exam 2, which I made a 62 on because I was out of town at a funeral.I emailed her after the fact asking for some form of accommodation and was denied
I took her online and I emailed her multiple times about questions I had and NEVER got a response. She is so unhelpful and the worst professor ive never had. All she does is reuse the same lecture videos she made years ago.
Do not take this course with this teacher. She does not prepare you well for tests at all. The homework assignments and notes she gives in class are completely different from the tests and it makes it nearly impossible to be successful.
Tbh she knows what she's talking about but is not nearly good enough of a professor to give out tests that difficult. Unless you are a gifted student, expect to spend 3-4 hrs a day reviewing/studying. I had to dropout of this class, but took it with another prof and got a B or something. Anyways, only take her if you are smarter than 90% of all ppl
This class was hard but if you study you will be fine. she gives 20 bonus points on each test for just doing the homework which is due anyway. so super easy to get points if needed. the teacher is also great about tutoring as well and has a great grad assistant to help. I personally loved this class.
Painfully boring. She gives a ton of extra credit but so incredibly boring.
As long as you go to class and take notes you will be fine. She is a good lecturer. Make sure to read the book as you study for the test and utilize the practice problems in the book. Only grades are 2 easy homework assignments before each test and 4 tests. No cumulative final.
This class is not as hard as everyone makes it out to be. If you go to class and pay attention you are bound to at least pass the exams. Studying and doing more practice will give you a higher grade. She gives up to 25 extra credit points on exams if you do the homework so it's not that hard to maintain a good grade. The final is noncumulative.
There are 4 exams and you get 25 point extra credit for every exam when you finish the homework. The lecture is very boring. I don't think lecture is important. Just study the PowerPoint, read textbook, and do extra practices. Exams were hard, but some questions are directly from PowerPoint.
What you put into this class, you will get back out. It's accounting so it is not going to be a walk in the park. But if you watch the lectures, take good notes, and focus on studying the terminology and effects of different scenarios, then you'll be good. The homework is an easy 100% every time and she gave lots of extra credit too.
Awesome teacher if you have had trouble with accounting before, she is nice and willing to help. Accounting makes sense to some others not so much. She offers enough extra credit if you earn it to get you through.
I took this class online as a mini mester and Mrs. Miller was a great teacher. The lectures can be a bit boring, but her selected practice problems were extremely helpful. She gives a lot of extra credit as well, 25 point bonus points for doing the homework. Overall, I enjoyed this class and felt like the material was important and very useful.
She messed up the first test
Do not take this online class. the homework wasn't bad, but the tests were awful. they were super hard, and were nothing like the homeworks or lectures. she does not prepare you well for the tests, and they are weighted very largely.
Get ready to learn 100% on your own. She gives the bare minimum. I have spent HOURS trying to understand the material from the book. Her 'lectures' are nothing but PowerPoints that have some of the criteria from the book. Then, when I finally begin to understand the criteria, I am faced with an exam that is nothing like the homework she gives.
Her test questions are very hard, you must understand every words meaning and how they are used, her test are mainly focused on how Assets, Liability, and Stockholders Equity increase or decrease based on a something happening. Be ready to study a lot if you take her, I recommend to not sign up for any of her courses.
Class is a breeze
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! She has office hours by appointment but also cancels them so you have no access to them. Her exams are extremely hard and the homework is nothing like the exams. She gives extra credit which is nice, but still not enough for how bad we all do on the exams.
I did not enjoy this class, but that is not the fault of the professor. I just don't like accounting. She presents the material well and is willing to help students if they ask her. She does not require students to be there, but you need to attend class to make a decent grade. She gives extra credit for every test and the homework is not bad.
the lectures she posted online were so confusing. she abbreviates everything which makes it even harder to understand especially in an online class. the homeworks are easy 100's with unlimited attempts to get it right, but tests were hard. 1 homework assignment is extra credit for every test so that helps bc you know you will get those extra points
Dr. Miller was great in my opinion. Her lectures are pretty long and boring, but her lecture videos and exercise videos are basically the exams. And she gives 25 extra bonus points on each exam by just completing the homework, which is due anyways. I got a 46 on one exam and finished with an A. Put in the work and youll do fine.
I personally really liked her class. As an English major, I felt that her teaching explained a (kinda boring) mathematical business subject really well and I got through the class with a 102 without a whole lot of effort besides just showing up and listening. Also, most of the time, homework is given as LOTS of extra credit. Highly recommend her!
I love this woman with my whole heart. Her class is kinda boring, but she gave us infinite attempts on the homework and it prepares you really well for her tests. I would absolutely recommend taking her if you can
Although accounting is a hard class in itself, she makes it even harder with her confusing lectures and little indication as to how to study. As someone who has never taken accounting I was not familiar with the terminology and she uses way too many acronyms for words. Would never take her again.
I liked prof. Miller! Her lecture slides come straight from the textbook but she does a lot of practice in class. It can be confusing at first but I felt like it got easier. She provides practice problems with the answers, and the HW has infinite attempts. The tests are only 30 questions so if you miss a bunch it's easy to get a bad grade
Don't go into this class expecting it to be a pushover. There's a lot to memorize and a lot you have to practice.
While people tend to think this class is boring, Mrs. Miller tries to make it interesting and really cares about what she is teaching. She gives plenty of extra credit and the tests are straight forward and easy.
I have yet to ever have someone teach me material with such arrogance like she does. Her teaching makes sense to only herself and never to the rest of the classroom. Most students quit going to lectures and have to self teach the class. She doesn't know how to explain what she will write down in problems to make the process understandable.Dont take
This is the worst class I have ever taken. She is not a good teacher, period. You have to teach yourself the course, especially for homework. The slides she uses in class are completely different to the homework, and the homework is completely different to the tests. It's a joke how many people rate her 5/5, DO NOT TAKE HER.
You pretty much have to teach the material to yourself. The tests are absolutely nothing like the homework. She does not post any practice exams or practice questions to help prepare for the tests. The lectures she posts are very long and boring. She does give a lot of bonus points for doing the homework though.
This class was the WORST! You could not pass unless you read all material including txtbk, and even then you will likely fail the tests. Nothing helps you prepare for the tests, no study guide, homework questions, or txtbk questions help. Test aren't even on the financial statements or any math, for an ACCOUNTING test. DO NOT TAKE!!!
She does not teach you much. I taught myself how to do 90% of the content. You might as swell just teach yourself accounting. The average on the exams was usually between 62% and 65%.
I would not recommend this Professor unless you are prepared to teach yourself. Showing up to class almost made the concepts more difficult due to her chaotic teaching style of having one problem extremely unorganized making a simple problem hard to follow. Tests are unlike the homework (very easy and straightforward)Test averages were very low!!!!
I took the online version of this class and I really did not know what I was getting myself into. Although the tests are hard, the homework was manageable and she gives tons of extra credit that go towards the tests for completing the homework. If you take good notes from the video lectures that she sends out, that should be enough to earn you an A
This class seems easy from the start but once you take the first test it is the opposite. The average of the tests is mid 60's every time but she gives extra credit opportunities for each test. This extra credit opportunity is the only thing that helped me get an A in this class. I would recommend trying to take this class in person.
Miller was a great professor. She was very organized and her teaching style was pretty good too. If you pay attention in class and take note of everything she writes on the board, then the class isn't that hard. Tests were kind of hard but she gave us 10-20 bonus points on each test so it cancels that out.
Miller does a decent job of covering the material as her slides are straight from the book. She goes over everything that is on the test but doesn't always explain it well enough for it to click immediately. Even though the class is kind of hard, she gives a lot of extra credit to help your grade.
Class is lecture-based and tests are hard but she gives about 25 points of extra credit on almost every test. She isn't super nice or willing to help you with what you missed though and tests are confusing. Tests are concept-based, not always math-based, and not anything like the homework. Overall a hard class for non majors
I liked her, but this class was hard. she is very accessible outside of class and willing to help. YOU CANNOT MISS CLASS. the problems she does on the whiteboard are the test. the homeworks help your grade and she does EC but the tests are hard and are hard to come back from if you do poorly on one. overall i did like her!
I had her for financial and had the worst time. made a really hard worked for B. Very different story for Managerial. She's not the best teacher in the world, but the class is much easier
Absolutely horrible professor. Never missed a class, spent hours studying each week, and had a tutor just to fail every exam and get a C in the class. She was rude to me when I went to her office hours. Tests are hard and make no sense. She teaches this class as if any of the students have prior experience with accounting. Avoid at all costs.
Absolutely AWFUL professor. Her lectures were pretty long and very boring and monotonous and she talks so slowly. Her exams are NOTHING like the homework and have little from the lectures. It really is a miracle I finished with a B because for most of the semester I thought I was going to have to drop.
Awful. Accounting is already a difficult subject to introduce students to, and Miller teaches as if we already know the majority of accounting definitions/terms. Her recorded lectures are usually an hour long, but prepare to sit at your computer for two to three hours rewatching sections in hopes of making sense of whatever we should be learning.
Do not take Miller under ANY circumstance. Not even if she is the last option. I wish I would've taken this at a community college or even transferred to Bama to take this class. She is a horrible teacher and her lectures make you more confused than you already are. stay away, I am not kidding. You have been warned.
Long unhelpful lectures. None of her lectures prepared your for exams or homework.
Be careful with this teacher. I went to every class and ended with a high B. Getting an A requires the gift of Accounting.
Professor Millers lectures are long and boring. She adds things on the exam that she did not go over in class. She chooses the easiest example problems to use and gives herself information that is not stated in the problem to make them easier for her, while she chooses homework problems that look nothing like what was covered in class. DO not take!
Anyone who says this class is too hard is just not putting in the effort. It is not an easy class and you have to watch lecture videos and do homework but its doable. You can't just study the night before and expect an A. I studied 3-4 days in advance and made A's and B's on all the exams. The homework helps your grade and she gives extra credit.
Thank gosh my mom is an Accountant, so she was able to teach me everything about accounting that Dr. Miller failed to do. Her recorded lectures do not explain the homework well (Thank gosh for Chegg) and her exams do not cover anything we covered in class. Get to know an accountant before taking her class, or just don't take it at all.
Not the best. For a fundamental level class it was pretty hard. Test averages always seemed to be around the 60's. Really focus on the accounting equation and you might do well.
I would not wish this class on my worst enemy. I poured my heart and soul into it- Hired six different tutors, went to every class, studied dayssss in advance. I got an F on every test. No class has ever made me feel so incompetent. If you want to remain mentally stable DO NOT take this class. This professor is the worst option too she's so boring
Class is extremely confusing. The textbook, HW assignments, lectures, and exams are ALL different and have ZERO correlation with each other. If this class is not required for your major DO NOT take. Mrs Miller is very kind, but the class is not.
Mrs.Miller is the best accounting teacher I have ever had throughout my time at auburn. She lectures every class and gives good examples. If you go to her classes and listen to her you will understand the material. She also offers extra credit homework assignments that boost your grade so much and also help you study for the tests. Highly Recommend
If you can take Prof. Miller online, do it. You have to put in the work for this class, but I loved how Prof. Miller teaches. This class has made me add an accounting minor because I love it so much. It is super interesting. She gives TONS of extra credit for each exam. It was super helpful taking it online to watch the lectures at your own time.
I really don't get why everyone complains about her. She has given my class tremendous amounts of extra credit if you do the homework, literally 25 points. Take online if you can, it's nice to be able to pause and go back. Do the homework, go and see her, and you'll be fine. I'm bad at accounting and I finished with an A.
She is nice but for me the class was crazy difficult. 5 exams and the only practice you'll have for them is one 5 question homework assignment before each one. I get 100s on the homework thinking I'll pass the test, and then end up getting a 60 on the test. The class average for exams is consistently in the 60s, but she does offer extra credit.
Just not a good teacher, plain and simple.
Online class is just videos of her in person lectures. I watched all the lectures a few days before the exam on 1.5x speed and got an A on all the exams. She had our HW give us extra credit for exams and the HW you can redo till you get 100%. The exams only have a question or 2 with actual math, so the class is very concept heavy but still easy
Her tests are very difficult but gives you 20 bonus points on almost every exam which is why I ended with a good grade. Without the bonus points, it would be tough to earn a good grade in the class. She talks very fast in class and it is hard to understand. If you miss one class you will be very behind and confused.
Mrs. Miller is an extremely kind and caring person. Her lectures can be difficult at times, mainly because she is so experienced in accounting that she expects everyone to easily understand. While the lectures can be tough, if you study hard you will most likely be rewarded with a high grade.
Mrs. Miller is a really good professor that knows her stuff. The material is not crazy hard but can be difficult at times. The tests are pretty straight forward. She works out examples after finishing the lectures which definitely help. Homework consist of a video quiz, assignment, and an extra credit smartbook which all can be redone to get a 100.
This class is simple if you try even a little. Lectures are boring and the homeworks are not really like the tests. However, the material is easy to learn if you give a little effort.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. Her exams do not correlate with her lectures what so ever. Its always a guessing game. The cengage homework is long and pointless because none of the problems are every on the exam.
Her homework and exams are two very different things. She will try and trick you on exams. My mom's an accountant and was confused on what she was teaching. She uses the wrong definitions on some things. She's not helpful when you need help. Online is terrible because of the audio and just the way she teaches.
Very hard class and even harder tests. If you show up to class and study often, you will do well in the class. She's a really nice professor and gives TONS of extra credit.
I'm not normally one to write bad reviews, but she is one of the worst professors I've ever had. I went to every class, did the homework, and studied and still struggled so much in this class. The only reason I could get an A is because she offered extra credit on tests for doing the (mandatory) homework that is full of stuff she didn't teach us.
Dr. Miller is really nice, but she talks a bit slow which makes it a little hard to pay attention sometimes. If you stick it out and take good notes you'll be fine. There are 6 homework assignments per unit, 2 of which are extra credit. Do the extra credit, they aren't huge grade boosters but they're great test prep questions.
She is one of my favorite professors I've had. She's extremely intelligent and knows what she's talking about. She provides problems from the textbook that mimic the test questions. The class is hard, but she is not a bad option at all
If you do not want your GPA to drop do not take this class! She teaches her lectures like everyone is an accounting major, and when trying to study for the exams her notes don't line up with the homework. She does give bonus points for doing homework, however that is because the class average for her exams are so low. Worst class I have taken at AU
She is not a good lecturer, but only does lectures. The content that is taught in class and shown on the homework is nothing like the exams. Her lectures and homework is almost all math and the exams have barely any. The one good thing is that she adds back a lot of points to her test, but she has to because the average is usually a 60.
You won't succeed if you don't read. I took this class online, and I didn't find the lecture videos particularly helpful in my quest for knowledge. I found accounting difficult to understand and wouldn't recommend taking it online or with Miller if you have the choice. The class average on exams was in the 60-68 range. Prepare to teach yourself.
Go to class and review after class and you'll succeed. Exams are very difficult but there's a lot of bonus on every exam from the homework. If you don't go to class or take it seriously, you'll get a C. Professor Miller is easy to communicate with, take advantage of her office hours after exams and go over them with her.
Professor Miller is very good at explaining the material. Her lectures are a little boring, but very thorough. I highly recommend taking her for Accounting.
Gave a ton of extra credit. Lectures can be a bit boring but it's accounting. Tests aren't hard if you understand the material.
Worst teacher to possibly take. I understand that 2110 is a wead-out class but for the class average to be nothing above a 69 (the first and easiest test) ALL SEMESTER is kind of wild. Every class she would complain that students were not studying enough. She gives bonus points on tests I would assume so she doesn't lose her job. DONT TAKE!!!
Professor Miller, was outstanding! She took her time going over each concept several times over several days to ensure you understood it. Additionally, she only includes material that she covers in class on her test. For each chapter, she provides a small bonus for one additional assignment which helps you study for the test.
I will never understand the dislike for Prof. Miller. She is clear, concise, and direct. Lectures could be better but she is not the demon everyone makes her out to be. She is approachable and will help you after class, has many office hours, and responds to emails incredibly thoroughly. Yes it's hard, but that's the nature of the course.
If you go through the negative reviews on here, they are mostly from people who took her classes online. In person, she is great. Does not beat around the bush or distract you with irrelevant material. Reviews lectures at the end of each chapter and goes through practice questions. Shes not a prof to write home about but she's nowhere near awful.
Tough but fair. She won't give you any leeway that the business world won't give you. Great at explaining hard concepts in real world terms. Personally I highly recommend. But like her or not- she's a legend here at Auburn.
I'm not one to normally rate professors, but if you aren't an accounting major like myself, GOOD LUCK! I feel like I have to teach myself the entire class, there's no tutors for this specific course too, and she barely responds to my emails. The test are RIDICULOUSLY HARD and I feel like I can NEVER keep up with her.
Likes to give extra credit to only certain classes. Class is a complete joke. Gave class before mine 90 total points of extra credit while in mine there was a total of 20 when the class averages were low 60's high 50's. Take if you want to tank your GPA.
The biggest running joke at Auburn. Nobody can pass anything, but she gives bonus, so oh well. Pour your heart out and get a 65. So then, you just stop caring, take the low grade, and get the bonus. As long as my grade is somewhat fine, im done caring about this joke of a class
Please do not take her. For a business class taken by nonbusiness majors- this is way too difficult. She does not help the online class at all. If you have to take her, take her in person maybe she's more fair to them.
Mrs. Miller is a very nice lady who provides office hour appointments outside of class, however, she is an awful teacher. I have never done so badly on exams. There were a total of 4 exams, and I scored lower on each one. She finally started offering extra credit on the last 2 exams for completing HW, although the HW didn't even match the exams.
Worst teacher for accounting. Goes way too fast through lectures and doesn't give enough time to learn and practice each chapter.
She's so nice but oh my god the exams are impossible. For the averages to never be above a 65 is insane. Luckily she curves but this class has turned into a total nonsensical joke.
Not an easy class at all and to get a grade you have to put in a lot of work-- she gives a lot of resources (exercises, reading, hw, SI). Attendance isn't mandatory, but she goes through the concepts and walks through problems step by step in class. It is, however, fast-paced-- you have to WORK to keep up. exam averages very low.
Don't take if possible
I thought her lectures were very clear and thorough. If you pay attention and take notes, you will be able to understand the material. Some of the material is difficult, but not impossible.
She's a pretty easy grader when it comes to homework and discussions, read and study and should do fine on exams. Discussions are 1 question and extra points, do them, they help! Not a hard class.
Send help.
If you do bad in this class it is your fault. Tests are 30 multiple choice questions, which you have an hour and fifteen minutes to take which is plenty of time, I always end up going through the exam two or three times. Tests have both calculations and definitions. Some definitions are not covered in lecture and you will need to read the book.
Avoid taking the online class at all costs. Dr. Miller consistently makes tests that have nothing to do with the homework or lectures, and simply does not care when every test has an average score of 60. Stay far far away
Stay away from online classes at all costs! Exams are nothing like the homework. No matter how much I studied, I always failed the exams. She does not care if the majority of the class is failing. Beware!
Her class is extremely straightforward. 2 lectures a week, 3 unlimited attempt homeworks due every 3 weeks, and 4 exams. People seemed to despise her in the groupme bc they made bad grades but I genuinely dont get why. Watch the lectures, take 1 page of notes/chapter, do the hw on time and study the day of the test. Tests arent EASY but NOT hard.
I met with her multiple times, and she never gave me feedback that could help on tests. The final time I met with her before finals week she stood me up and I had to leave after waiting half an hour. Tests are all the grades and homework is very miniscule. Tests are nothing like he and grades always avg F-D
This class is definitely difficult, and you need to study. Exams are challenging, but if you keep up with the work, go to class, and review the SI notes you should end with a B in the class. Attendance is not mandatory, but seeing her in class problems is the only way you will do well. Not very much HW, and the assigned HW is helpful.
Definitely take this class in person and not online. Her online lectures didn't help with studying for tests.
Took it as a five week course. The BEST (and one of the only) ways to succeed is to take your PPTX slides, paste the headers into ChatGPT, and have it generate you a quiz! They are similar to her exams. Rinse and Repeat. You will pass with flying colors if you stay on top of your work. However it's not an easy A or B. Occasional curves, though.
Not an easy class, but if you put in the work its not hard to get an A or B. Grades are based on 12 homeworks and 4 tests, you have unlimted attempts to get 100% on the homework so its an easy grade boost, and if you get 100% on the homework she uses that to curve some exams. The homework has nothing to do with the tests though.
She is super caring and wants you do to well and is very understanding. This class was a summer minimester class so you have to stay on top of things and definitely watch the lectures. Definitely recommend.
Exams were impossible and class average was always terrible. Avoid if you can.
Points based class but majority of points are the tests - which are insanely hard. If you're not a business major, take a different class.
Do not take this class online. the tests are impossible and the homework has nothing to do with the tests. she isnt helpful.
its not worth the time. you will not learn anything from her and her test are no where close to how her lectures are.
Dr. Miller was pretty solid. Online accounting was interesting, and I think it's a subject that comes easier to me, but I know that many others struggle with it. I just struggled with timing, but that was completely a me thing. Dr. Miller offers chances to add up to 12 points to some exams, and I found TA office hours very helpful.
Dr. Miller's class is extremely challenging and mostly self-taught. The highest exam average was a 69. Lecture videos didn't help much, and no study guide was given until the final. Tests were very difficult and not related to homework. 12.5 bonus points were given on a few tests. Use the textbook, practice problems, and expect to teach yourself.
