Really great professor! She really cares about her students doing well and couldn't be more clear about what will be on tests. She gives a lot of extra credit and thoroughly explains everything. Just study and make sure you understand everything and you'll do okay. Take her!!
Wants to see her students succeed. Gives random case studies so you have to come to class in case one is given that day. Complete the case study and you get a 100. 5 tests overall but only the top 4 scores counts. Also gives random pop quizzes some classes but only for extra credit. Very nice teacher, highly recommend.
She was a really awesome professor! She is super nice and understanding. She actually wants to help you and see you succeed. Complete the packets for each lecture and you will be good to go! There are four tests, lots of extra credit, and the final is optional. She tries to make the lectures enjoyable. She is one of my favorite professors.
Very good professor. Makes lectures very interesting, and provides very clear material for every exam. Helpful, accommodating, and gives a decent amount of extra credit
Do the readings because there are some pop quizzes. Seems like she wants all students to succeed. She definitely does not give us any extra credit. Go to all the lectures! You really have to work for the grade. The tests are designed for students to get a B. Do not be afraid to ask questions because she is very willing to help students understand.
Lots of work for the class but if you're willing to put in the time and effort she will help you succeed
An amazing teacher. Very encouraging and knowledgeable, always willing to help. DEFINITELY go to office hours and get to know her. Exams aren't easy, but if you read before each lecture and come to each class prepared, you'll do well. USE THE STUDY MATERIALS SHE PROVIDES ON BLACKBOARD! They'll save your grade! A TON OF INFO, be sure to study.
My favorite teacher of the semester. She really understands the content and explains everything in detail. She understands that many of the students taking this class need at least a B to pass and, she is willing to give as much help as you need. No extra credit is given but, she provides study guides for exams. Study guides get you a B on exams.
She's a great teacher and really knows her stuff. Gives you a lot of online quizzes and homework, but they are easy and major grade boosters. Provides study material online. If you do her study guide and take advantage of her online resources you'll get a good grade on the test. Always available for extra help and holds review sessions!
Dr.O'Hare is great. She is such a nice lady and she wants everyone to do well but you still have to work for it. You better do the readings before lecture and make sure that you actually study. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want to actually do well you better try to go to every class. I absolutely love her. she makes BIO 190 enjoyable
Great teacher, very knowledgeable. BIOL190 is a hard class but she tries to help every student succeed. Posts lectures & study guides on blackboard. 4 exams,a final & various online & in class quizzes. It's a lot of work but if you heed her advice, you'll get a good grade. Go to review sessions and office hours! She also answers emails quickly.
She's so nice and always wants to help out students. she posts all notes online & review questions for tests. as long as you study those and show up to labs you will be fine.
I had to take this class twice the first was with a different professor at a different school and I had to withdraw because the professor was Soo bad but when I got into O'Hare's class I passed with the grade I wanted. She really wants you to do well in the class and will help you but you also have to help yourself. Very good professor
I love O'hare so freaking much. the way she teaches is unbelievable she goes over stuff you don't understand so much until you finally do. I bought the textbook but I barely used and when I did it was only for several HW but u can always go to check it out in the library. Labs r easy. Her tests r so straightforward n she gives u credit for trying:)
love her!!! she gives a little bit of extra credit here and there but nothing major. She tells u when we have "pop quizzes" but other times she doesn't and those may count as extra credit so show to class everyday cuz u never no. she posts all powerpoint on blackboard w so many extra helpful tools and study guides. lectures r heavy but she helps u:)
Awesome professor. took the class the first time with a different professor and I got a 30 percent in the class and had to withdraw. Took he Rand got a 80 percent hard class but she such a good teacher and truly cares and offers tons of help and extra credit.
Really awesome prof. I loved her class!
She was really nice and helpful. The class got difficult at times. But as long as you attend class and study, youll be fine.
O'Hare is very fair. You have to be very careful to meet her specific requirements, but as long as your participate and do all of your work you should do ver well. I have massive respect for this woman. She is young and in touch but also very knowledgable. She is accomodating for specific needs but doesn't put up with any crap.
She is a really great professor! Her lectures are very informative and I learned a lot in her class. Plus, her tests are not too hard if you study what you learn in lecture.
I took this class because of the good reviews but it its very hard to pass the tests. My class average on tests was a 70% more than half of the class did not pass. Quizzes and homework are not worth enough to bring up your grade. She does not give extra credit. I would not reccomend if you are not a naturally strong biology student!!
Great professor. Explains until you understand. Quick responder to emails. Always willing to help. She is very tough at the same time though. Hard tests and tough grader. Sweet person though!
BIO191 is a hard class but with O'Hare you have a lot of opportunities to succeed. She is always willing to help and she gives amazing and in-depth lectures. Get ready to study all the time for this class though.
She is extremely intelligent so her lectures are very good and she helps you understand the material, but her tests are very difficult. Tons of nity-grity questions that mess you up.
I had her for BIOL 191 lab and for lecture and she was amazing! She's really thorough in her lectures and has many worksheets posted on blackboard to help you with studying. Her exams are too bad and she usually offers extra credit questions. Lab attendance was mandatory but lecture had over 100+ kids so she didn't bother with attendance.
Really good teacher, she definitely knows what she's talking about. Her lectures are pretty fast paced and the tests are definitely more on the difficult side if you don't completely understand the information, but she genuinely wants her students to succeed and she gives a decent amount of opportunities for you to. Just be prepared to work hard.
Dr. O'Hare is an amazing teacher. At first, this class can be scary, but don't be scared. Make sure to read the sections assigned BEFORE class and do the study question at the end of the lecture. They help a lot. If it's not making sense, don't be afraid to ask her questions. She seems kind of scary but she's really nice and funny.
Professor O'Hare can be scary at first, but she is amazing. She gives 4 Unit tests throughout the semester and a cumulative final. She also assigns online lecture quizzes and homework quizzes. If you attend the lectures and study on your own you will pass.
You would have to read the lab manual which was quite time consuming and then you had quizzes almost every week. Overall, she is very nice and helpful. She just wants everyone to succeed.
Dr. O'Hare cares about her students and although the course is difficult, she gives you every resource needed to do well. Her powerpoints are organized and easy to use and contain all the info needed for the quizzes and exams; I did not find the textbook to be particularly necessary. Take her, she's the best science professor I've had!
she is very nice & funny. i had her for lab, GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS AND SHE WILL HELP YOU! i went to her office hours about 4 times during the semester and i finished w/ an A-. the class is basically just group projects, presentations & experiments.. she makes it clear what she wants during office hours so follow her directions and you'll pass.
Biology 191 is extremely difficult. I took it with Professer Scoolik at first, and didn't get the grade I needed for the screened major. You need to get a B in order to get to the OT program. This class is super hard. O'Hare is awesome and super sweet! She knows how to teach, but that doesn't change the class difficulty. Study! Study! Study!
Super nice and super easy lab, shes always accessible for questions inside and outside of class. Does make you do group presentations pretty often but it gets you ready for life after college.
Take her if you want to pass! She is amazing. Extremely helpful and will always be there if you have any questions. I had to retake biology and with her I was able to pass this time. Seriously one of the best professors I've ever had. The class can be hard, but if you're a science/health major you have to get it over with. She's a great choice.
Amazing professor! BIOL 191 is a hard class and very content heavy but she is very organized and makes it easy to understand. If you're in health professions definitely take her!
Professor O'Hare is amazing! It's clear that she wants all her students to succeed. Lectures are fast paced, but she tends to explain a topic in many different ways so you can understand it. Extremely organized and gives you a lot of resources to work with. She really knows what she's talking about, so take her if you can!
Professor O'hare provides resources you need to pass the class. She really understands the different ways students learn so she also uploads videos for further explanation on concepts. Super available to help outside of class too. She's great at telling stories to relate bio concepts to real life. HW and worksheets will help you ALOT for tests.
makes sure you understands everything before moving on, gives lots of time outside of class to answer questions
Very good teacher, tells you everything you need to do for lab, just follow directions and ask questions if you are confused, she is blunt, but it is necessary. Do pre-lab work / quizzes, put some effort into presentation and practice it and you will do just fine.
Dr. OHare is AMAZING! Im not a science person at all, but she made the topics very understandable. She knows how to explain hard concepts really well. I recommend coming to EVERY CLASS. Yes powerpoints get uploaded to BB, but its good to be there when she explains. PLS STUDY! Get a study group. I passed with a B, if I can do it so can you
Last semester I had to drop my bio class because I was going to fail. I thought maybe I wasn't meant to take it, but then I decided to take O'Hare and OMG DO. NOT. TAKE. ANYONE. ELSE. Trust me she is amazing at explaining every concept over and over to make sure everyone understands it. Lots of studying and you don't need the textbook. TAKE HER!
You can not miss a single class or you won't pass. This is a tuff class but she is the best BIO teacher. She knows how to connect with the students and if you did not understand something she would be more then willing to reteach it to the whole class. 100% recommend taking her.
This professor is by far one of the best professors you could ever have. She is ridiculously smart and takes pride in knowing this information. She wants all of her students to well. This class is a class you HAVE to keep up within order to get the grade you want. It's difficult, but if you put the time in it is worth it. Dr. O'Hare is the best!!!
took her for BIOL 191- SO HARD. had her for lecture and she goes through the content so fast. failed the first 2 exams and got a 78% on the third. ALOT of application questions. don't take her if you struggle in bio and in big lecture classes. attendance based, no homeoworks, 4 exams, online quizzes (super hard) and a cumulative final exam.
Ohare is one of the best professors I've had. She explains each concept very clearly and makes sure everyone understands. She cares about people's success and is very helpful during office hours. Bio 191 is a tough class, but she makes it easier with her lectures. If you want to succeed make sure to take advantage of office hours and study!
Best bio professor! Took bio last sem w/ a diff professor and O'Hare is SO much better. She explains things very thoroughly, but fast. NEED to study for the exams or you won't pass. Don't need textbook. Takes attendance but not for grade. Offers extra credit. Great at explaining content and answers any questions you ask in class. Super nice too.
OMG! before even taking the final I am telling you, She is one of Towson's best professors, if not the best. If you have to take BIO 191 please take O'hare. She makes learning easy and fun. If you honestly fail this course it has to be because you've taken her class for granted.
O'Hare is the best. Take her for BIOL 191. There is a lot of content covered in each unit but just study and you will get a good grade on the quizzes & exams. Quizzes are all online so study her powerpoints! She is passionate about biology and cares about her students so do not hesitate to ask questions and go to her office hours.
I had O'Hare for bio191 lab and she was very nice and straightforward. She would run through the lectures but still took the time to make class interesting. She explained the concepts to us better than my bio lecture professor did. She was funny in moments when she would make sarcastic comments. O'Hare is probably the best biology professor at TU.
Biology is not easy! This class was difficult, but I was able to pass. It requires a lot of studying and good notes. She goes pretty fast but that's because there is so much information to get through each class. She always encouraged everyone to go to her office hours and seemed willing to help. I also had her for lab and it was easy.
I dropped biology last year but she really helped me understand the material and going to the teachers aid was very very helpful
OHare is the best bio teacher at towson. She gives you what you need to is the class. You can tell she genuinely loves bio, she knows what shes talking about and wants her students to pass. Read the textbook even though you don't have to, it helps better explain info. Also her PowerPoints are detailed and resourceful.
She is a really great professor for lecture and lab. Even when we switched during the pandemic, she made all assignments and due dates as clear as possible and sent reminders. It is a tough class, but if you show up to lectures and heed her advice to take notes before hand you'll do fine. She also offers some extra credit in lab and lecture.
Professor OHare is a wonderful professor. This is generally not an easy class but Professor OHare knows what shes talking about.
Notes and lab compared to level of difficulty on assessments are just not even close. Her review for her assessments was just nowhere near similar. I used this to pick her for my regular Bio and Bio lab and regret it a lot. She really acts like this is your only class.
Doesn't put into consideration you have other classes or a life
Easy class but do not take this class online unless you don't have a job, life or other classes. This professor does not comprehend the concept of time as she believes your entire life should revolve around this class. Worst class I have ever taken. Would not wish this class on my worst enemy. Also the lab portion is just as bad. DO NOT TAKE.
Very good at giving lectures. They may be a bit long and repetitive but the repetition helps you retain the information, which is most likely why she does it. She gives optional work to do so you can test your knowledge and prepare for quizzes. It's nice having a professor do all she can to make sure you are keeping up in the class.
Dr. O'Hare had us watch lectures and then go over the same exact info in class. The repetition can help, however, she expects you to spend 10+ hrs/wk doing work OUTSIDE of class time and it was just too much with 5 other online courses during Covid. Tests and quizzes were difficult. EC is offered but only 2 points each. Only take if you have time.
She is a great professor and knows what she is talking about. The lectures recorded and posted before the live class but it is recommended that you go to class and watch the recording. I didn't even bother buying the book and I found the class pretty easy. There is one quiz a week and the exams are worth a large portion of your grade. TAKE NOTES.
Shes a good professor and really does have the passion to teach. However, I would only recommend her if you dont mind the extra studying. Her exams can be pretty tricky, especially the wording. Overall, shes really nice and her lectures are helpful. You learn a lot, but it takes effort to do well.
Don't take this class with anyone but Dr. O'Hare! She is so sweet and caring. This class is difficult and you have to work hard for your grade but if you have to take it I would recommend taking it with her. You HAVE to study!! You have 5 exams, the final is cumulative, and multiple quizzes. She tries her best and always willing to help.
Dr. O'Hare is an amazing professor! I don't suggest BIO191 with anyone else. She is caring and always willing to answer any questions. She had us watch lecture videos before coming to class and they were beneficiall. YOU HAVE TO STUDY FOR THIS CLASS!! This class is difficult and so are the exams so you have to put in a lot of work. F
This class is difficult. You have 5 exams ( final is cumulative) and multiple quizzes (almost every week). I wouldn't recommend taking this class if you can avoid it. I would suggest taking Dr. O'hare because she is awesome! You have to work hard for your grade. STUDY! The exams and quizzes are hard. Most questions involve applying the info.
A really great professor that is very organized and explain concepts very well. There is 1 meeting a week which is recorded if you don't attend but it greatly helps if you do. However, there is a lot of work that will take 1-1.5 hrs to do so don't wait until the last minute to work on them. Although assignments were heavy, the class was not hard.
Prof Ohare is the best Biology teacher at Towson hands down. She is passionate about what she teaches & always willing to answer questions & help students understand things more. Study for the class, do the reading, and show up!! She gives great lectures providing both visual learning and of course learning in terms of reading. Highly recommend!!
Prof OHare is probably one of the best Biology professors at TU. I took it last year with a different prof and failed terribly. Its not an easy class but she makes sure that you understand the material. Posts lecture videos for you to watch and take notes on. Class participation isnt necessary to pass, as long as you have notes from lecture.
Dr O Hare is an amazing biology teacher. This class is tough if you take this class be prepared to dedicate your time, energy, and mental health towards it. Watch her lectures beforehand and take Detailed notes, if you watch her lectures you will pass. Exams are heavy application problems make sure to study and be able to apply info
Dr. O'Hare was undoubtedly the best professor I have ever had. She provides you with every resource to succeed, and she genuinely wants you to do well. You must put in extra time outside of class, but it is doable. I have learned a ton from her class, and I recommend her to all of my friends. Take O'Hare if you want a great experience in bio!
Dr. O'Hare is the greatest instructor I've ever had. Although the material can be intimidating, she puts so much care and energy into recorded lectures and discussion sessions, and good at making things easy to understand. Most of your grade is determined by the unit exams, so be prepared to study for them. I would recommend her w/o a doubt.
The course I took isn't one of the options. The actual course I took was BIOL 204. It was a huge help overall. Was also a bit intimidating being as though if you got an Unsatisfactory grade on ANY assignment, you fail the course automatically. Don't be afraid to reach out and ask questions, but also READ through all the instructions first.
BIO191L isnt a easy course, but Dr. OHare makes it easier because she puts effort into her lectures, but you HAVE to study because there is an quiz every week and exams every 2 ish weeks. please go to the SI sessions they really do help you do good on the test because its from past students so they give you an idea. overall good teacher
Great prof for an online class. Assignments graded practically immediately with helpful feedback!
Professor O'Hare is tough but fair. Attend all lectures, take detailed notes, study, and you will pass.
Each module consists of the required readings along with the corresponding quiz or classwork activity. The entire course is worth 700 points and you are only graded by quizzes. At times, quiz is questions felt random, but they are open note. If you do the readings and activities, you should easily pass the class.
This professor is good at what she does and knows the content extremely well. However the exams count for so much of the grade, and you must pay attention, take notes, and study to have a chance of doing well. Gives a few extra credits but they are legit like 1-5 points, which doesn't effect much. Overall good professor, but I wouldn't take again.
Dr. O'hare is great, she provides so many resources to be successful and always encourages us to ask questions during her lecture. She also provides many extra credit chances. BIO191 ain't no joke, so be prepared to be challenged. You gotta put in the work for this class, but it's certainly not impossible. Study and take good notes, you'll be fine.
Can't believe Dr. O'Hare has a single bad review. Bio191 could be an easy course but she makes it thorough and impactful, which makes it challenging. And if you're headed into healthcare this is the exact professor you want to start with. She offers an abundance of resources to succeed, andis so easy to talk to. Spaced Repetition and Good Notes.
Dr Ohare's class was difficult. She is very lecture heavy and basically reads from a powerpoint slide. As she does know what she is talking about it is very hard to sit in her class for 75 minutes and read off a powerpoint slide. I was thriving in the class until the tests. They count for a big part of your grade. Overall great professor tough clas
She's a great professor and the BIOL191 course coordinator. The class has a lot of content with hard exams but she gives all the resources you need. She's very accessible through email for questions. Make sure to study or you will fail. Watch the lectures. Form a study group to help review content. If you're a CHP major, you will want to have her.
Bi-weekly online quizzes. 4 Exams. 1 Final. Extra credit provided through the semester. Watch all the lecture videos before class. Take notes from the videos. Review twice a day every day.
I definitely recommend taking BIOL191 with Dr. O'Hare. Her class consisted of online lectures and discussion sessions where she would go over the recorded PowerPoints. She provides so many resources that set her students up for success.
I love her! She's great and very knowledgeable. She provides you with so many resources to get a good grade in her class. If you're scared about taking this course, don't be! She's amazing and will get you prepared for the exams.
Dr. O'Hare was an amazing professor, she is super nice, and you can tell she cares about her students. Homework was encouraged but not graded, and she offers lots of extra credit. Your grade mostly depends on 4 exams but there are online quizzes as well. She expects you to watch recorded ppt lecture before the class where she will go over it again.
This course is difficult and time-consuming. However, Dr. O'Hare is a very helpful and good at her job. During the semester, we were told to watch the lectures before our class discussion which I found to be extremely helpful. There were many resources and extra credit assignments offered. We had a total of 4-unit test and weekly quizzes.
The course is tough overall but O'hare makes it easy to understand. Not only does she review the content in person but she also has video powerpoints that you can go back to if you don't understand something. She also offers a lot of ways to help you like extra homework sheets, extra credit, and SI sessions to help you understand the course.
This class was all online for 5 weeks, you read attached documents and then take a quiz on each sub-module. The beginning mainly consists of different lab techniques and is much harder than the end of the course which is more about ethics. I enjoyed the course even though it was hard at times. I was very close to an A (88%) and she rounded me up!
Dr. O'Hare was an amazing professor. To succeed in this class, I suggest watching the lectures before class and actually taking time to know the information. 4 unit exams and one final with optional homework and many extra credit opportunities. She knows her material well!
Dr. O'Hare knows her stuff! She allowed many extra credit opportunities. She made it easy to memorize and understand information. Listen and take notes on the prerecorded lectures!! You will succeed more if you put in the work before coming to class.
She was clear and specific about how to succeed in this class! Her SI offered lots of tutoring sessions outside of class, she recorded her lectures which makes studying so much easier because you hear the information so many times that you barely need to review for tests if you just take notes and show up. Caring professor who wants you to succeed!
The professor was amazing. Half the class dropped it, but I think she did amazing. If you're willing to put in the work and review all of the resources, you will do well. Discussion and online lectures are super important and the extra credit opportunities are so helpful to understanding of the course and your grade. Best bio prof in my opinion
I took Dr. O'hare for her online lab class (not lecture). The assignments themselves did take up a lot of time but were bearable and you had unlimited attempts to submit prior to the deadline. The quizzes had two attempts with the highest one kept, unit exams only one try but very straight forward if you did the assignments. Take her!
TAKE HER !! Bio 191 is a hard class regardless of the professor but O'hare makes it manageable, gives amazing lectures/ resources, and extra credit. To succeed you have to put in the work so watch every lecture video and take detailed notes, fill out the study questions when in class, utilize her resources, and STUDY. Do this and you'll get an A.
Just watch the recorded lectures before every class, take notes, and pay attention when she reviews the information in class. Go to her office hours and she will literally repeat the entire lecture till you understand. She wants you to succeed but you need to study, just like any science class. She makes a difficult class easy.
i love her DOWN man she was so lovely sweet and understanding, as long as you show up and actually apply yourself you literally cant get less than a 80%, theres so many extra credit opportunities i went up an entire letter grade. its a real college class obviously but its super manageable especially for BIO191. TAKE HER!!
absolutely LOVED Dr. O'Hare PLEASE TAKE HER. She truly wants you to succeed. If you want to get an A, watch the recorded lectures before class. Its time consuming I know but it is so worth it. She is smart and has been doing this a long time. She offers EC that helps you learn so DO IT.
