If you are hearing impaired, do not take this class. If you fall asleep easily, do not take this class. Tests are just a little too confusing, and so is she. People show up and sign the attendance sheet and leave 2 minutes later.
she is incredibly dry and unhelpful to students. i didn't enjoy or retain a single thing from that class - it was painful.
Physical anthropology - one of my most favorite subjects - was the most useless class of my career as an anthro major. Dull, repetitive - could have read the book. And I've never heard anyone say "repertoire" more often and with less cause.
The worst part of this class is her awful Power Point presentations. She keeps showing the same slides over and over, and they're very poorly organized. I have to completely re-write my notes at home. She doesn't give us enough time to copy them, either.
Worst power point presentations ever!!! She gives them to us online to look at afterwards, but they are still so mixed up it doesn't help. The only reason my friends and I stay awake is to mock and laugh at her lectures.
She doesn't care whether or not her students are learning. You cannot hear her, boring, disorganized. Tries to anticipate your question when you ask and will go into a 20 minute explanation on something unrelated. DO NOT TAKE! I was sorry I did.
The worst class I have ever taken--made my day go downhill! She is extremely boring and gives awful powerpoint presentations that have the same slide in them 20 times!! VERY BORING and tests suck--the review sheets dont help!! DONT TAKE THIS CLASS EVER
She's a nice enough woman, but her class is very boring considering how interesting the subject is. Very dull power point lectures and does not teach well.
Worst professor I've ever had. The tests were horrible and confusing, the was soooo boring, and don't bother talking in class... it's like she tries to make you sound stupid.
I took her class 2 or 3 years ago and it is still the worst class ive had at FSU to date she makes a subject that has a lot of potential to be interesting incredibly boring and the tests are ridiculously confusing
Her lectures are really boring and some of her tests are kinda confusing. I took this class bc it was a science and an x (or a y), so I reccomend taking it if you are still trying to get credits out of the way. But if you want to take an anthropology course to learn more about it, I do not reccomend this one.
i liked this class... i dont know why shes got suh a bad rep, i thought she was a good prof
I took Childhood Around the World with her and it was a very interesting class. She may not be the most interesting person to listen too, but the information is great. We watched movies every other work, then answered some questions on it. We had a take home mid-term and final. I liked her class a lot.
This class will ruin your life.
I really enjoyed Elizabeth Peters. Although I received a B+ which was mostly due to attendance issues(family deaths led to missed classes)I liked her. She seems really enthusiastic about what she's teaching. I had 7 smaller papers to write for the class. If you write your thoughts on what you read for the assignment, you'll receive a fair (GOOD)gra
She makes Apes not fun. Thats how bad she sucks.
If you're not an Anthropology major you probably will not appreciate this class. It was very easy and her lectures were very straightforward. She lets you have all the test questions before the exam and allows you to prepare one essay and bring in note cards for the other two. She's not very nice sometimes. The project was easy and she grades fair.
She doesn't take information from the textbook. I got an A- and I learned mostly off of powerpoints. She's dull and repetitive. She knows the information but doesn't really know how to teach it well.
I never went to class. I didn't read or own the book. Studied what she suggested and still passed. Made a C because I NEVER went to class! The ape learnage did suck. Easily passable.
Childhood around the world is one of the easiest classes ever. She's really repetitive in her powerpoints. Watched movies all semester and had to write about 2 paragraphs answering questions about each movie. Practice exams are in-class and are pretty much handfed info. Easy A.
seriously she is painfully boring. I only made it through the first week of class before i stopped going. Even her powerpoints on blackboard are painful to study/read. She repeats slides and nothing is in order. I never went to class except for tests and made a B.
Pretty boring. Likes to compare humans to apes a little too much and it usually seems like she prefers the apes anyway :) Really easy class though. I took it just so I could get another "w" and the required "x" course out of the way. I got an A by just listening to her lectures and occasionally actually writing stuff down. The movies we had to writ
Attendence will make or break you...I got solid A's on the easy easy tests but ended up with an A- because of two missed classes. Just show up and suffer through the lectures. They can be boring unless you are into anthropology...Study and minimal effort will get you a B
This lady is incredibly informative and interesting, that is if you really sincerely care about academia. Don't take this class unless you are willing to learn, she does not do well for SLACKERS.
All the negative ratings were left by slackers. Was refreshing to have a professor as passionate as her about her subject. Once you get to know her, you see she cares deeply about her students and their progress. Attendance mandatory, but most lectures she just shows documentaries. If you attend class you can easily get an A.
Prof Peters really cares about the subject. Her power points are over the place for she jumps around from slide to slide. Take home essays for test and annotated bibliography with presentation plus comment cards are the grading criteria. She's a really nice lady if you get to know her and will take the time to help you if your having trouble.
such a boring lecturer. but movies were awsome. not such as bad class, very easy to pass, but horrible when having to listen to dr. peters.
Easiest class EVER! Movies plus 7 100-word essays. Lectures are boring but not impossible. SO EASY!!! Prof is scatterbrained and a pushover, and students walk over her, which is rude to students and her.
Wonderful professor. Great use of videos and powerpoints. She's always willing to talk with you, listen, and help if you have any problems. She should have a higher standard for allowing people into her classes, because she ends up getting all the rude ones.
the class is VERY easy. all we did was watch movies which were interesting & then answer questions about them her lectures on the other hand are BORING & she sounds confused! no textbook & all notes are posted on BB. attendance is not mandatory but you can lose points for unexcused absences
This class is EXTREMELY easy, but she has to be the most boring teacher I have ever had in my life. If you are genuinely interested in anthropology, I can imagine it wouldn't be that dull, but if you are taking this class just to get an A, be prepared for her extremely boring lectures.
Class is easy, watch movies and answer questions. 2 exams. Extremely boring though. Some of the movies you can find online so I didn't go to class.
Wayy to obsessed with apes and primates. Movies are interesting, class is awfully boring. 5 movies to watch and answer questions (easy 100s), and 2 tests (missed 1 question on each). Study powerpoints for tests. I suggest hitting up starbucks before this class to stay awake through it though.
Its one of those classes where you understand lectures and assignments but when you study for tests you have no clue what to study. 2 exams 7 homework ass. Almost failed it but fortunately she changed some of my grades and passed me.
This is the most boring class ever. We watched movies almost every class and she was more interested in talking about the directing than the actual movie content. Lectures are very confusing and scattered and powerpoints repeat themselves. Tests are all fill in the blank. If you don't show up to class, you will fail. Boring teacher.
Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about this subject. She is sweet, accommodating, and always gives the opportunity to ask questions in class. As long as you show up, pay attention, and take notes you should have no trouble. Tests are conceptually based, and she does an excellent job of thoroughly covering the material.
Knowledgable professor, clear cut guidelines. Film based and only select readings available online, attendance is counted everyday and helpful. Two great opportunities for extra credit and the class isn't a complete bore. Definitely recommend it as a chill class.
Nice lady, easy class. Attendance is mandatory to a point. You're allowed to miss 3 classes before you get points off for attendance. I must admit to falling asleep during class a few times(took it late in the evening). She can be a little boring, but the subject matter is interesting. People who failed straight up didn't go to class.
Very easy class, maybe a little boring at times. Dr. Peters is very passionate of her material, take her!
She was a very different professor. Just know that when you go to her class it will be pretty boring, she uses the full time, and 90% of the time you talk about chimpanzees. This class was not what I expected and be ready for difficult tests. Her T/F is the worst, its multiple sentences usually. Just don't have high expectations for it.
I was really excited to take this class, but hated it! She is very repetitive always talking about evolution and primates. Nearly everything is based on films, which are boring and that end badly. Talked very little about Children around the World outside of the (fictional) film characters. Not worth taking!
You watch a few films, she lectures some, uses PowerPoint and provides links to required readings. She gives points for attendance which can help your grade. Lecture can seem a little dry, but engage her and she lights up. (Why not have a better class experience?) Films and lectures help to bring forth more awareness and compassion for children.
Course is based on lectures and films showed in class. Attendance is taken daily and helps your grade. An interesting and easy A!
This class was so so so easy. I don't get how people said the tests were hard. I studied the morning of the test (I know..stupid) and I got a 100. Next two tests I go a 98 on both, just by studying the Powerpoints she posts on blackboard. I hate when teachers lectured so it was great coming to a class where pretty much all we ddi was watch movies.
So so easy, but class was intolerable because she's just so boring! Attendance is mandatory too. If you miss more than three classes it's 5 points off of your grade.
Yes, she is somewhat boring, but the class is SO easy. You don't have to go to class because she posts everything online, but if you do go to class you get participation points. She is an easy grader he tests are a joke and if you disagree with an answer on the test you can write that on the test and get extra points. Easy A if you work a little.
Her power points are pretty clear but she lacks a lot of organization. Her class is super easy and the tests (while not easy A's, usually B's) are pretty straight forward. She knows what she's talking about and it's mostly about monkeys and movies played in class. Also, there is extra credit for making study guides!!
always fell asleep but still got an A. can't miss more than 3 class or you'll get points off. tests: just read her powerpoints the day before. she does an extra credit where you make a review sheet for each test and you get 5 points added to it. there are readings but you don't really have to read them. tests are 50 ?s and TF, mostly matching
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This professor is so unorganized in how she presents her information and the information itself hardly ever makes sense. She talks about the same crap all semester and is so incredibly boring that its nearly impossible to pay attention. I took this class because I was told it was an easy A, this class is NOT worth it.
Lecture are long and boring. There's a lot of reading, but I never did it and still got A's on the test- just review the power points. She takes FOREVER to post grades- even Scantron tests and won't post final grades until all grades are finalized Lots of movies. Had potential to be a cool and interesting class but she made it boring. No textbook
I took this class because people said it was an easy A. It isn't. I do not recommend this class or professor. Very annoying.
Really easy class and a sweet lady, but not very clear. Whenever students asked for clarification on an assignment or something being covered in class she never really answered the question. Didn't take much from the class, but its pretty easy if you do the assigned paper and study a little for the tests. Gives points at end based on attendance.
Don't bother asking a question. For example: Maybe you want to know about Darwin and what he attributed to evolution, she will proceed to get a little into the answer but then end up just telling you about "brain power" and how signing up for classes can give you anxiety. Her slides overlap and she is unorganized.
If I could go back, I would not take this class. She repeats herself ALOT in lectures and words things much more difficult then needed. Not to mention, she always seems annoyed when you have a concern or need to talk to her. Also, shes super crazy about tardiness and will point you out if you leave early or are late. I wish I did not take it.
She frequently goes off topic and never really answers questions asked in class. Class is unbearably boring and it's hard to pay attention. All info in powerpoints. Don't buy book. 2 tests, a very long paper, and a final so few opportunities to change grade.
She does not pay attention to her own lecture slides. Gets grades wrong online because she uses student graders and does not give clear instruction. She's a nice woman, but I won't take another class of hers if I don't have to.
Although she is educated in the subject matter she does a poor job of teaching it. Her Power Points are confusing and don't teach the material well. Movies are shown in class and you will be asked questions on the midterm and final. She posts the power points online which is helpful, but again, they're confusing. Not helpful when you ask questions.
I though learning about childhoods around the world would be really interesting, but we almost never talked about it. Most of the time she talks about how we are descendants of monkeys and the differences between monkey babies and human babies. The movies and readings are the only time you hear about childhoods in different cultures.
Thought this would be an easy A. Long pointless paper, lots of movies in class that don't really relate to anything, and she talks about monkeys a LOT..
Horrible class and an even worse professor. You watch so many movies (and she asks random questions on the tests about them, like the name of the director) and she makes generalizations about the childhood in the culture based on fictional movies. Talks about monkeys a lot. Boring class. She doesn't respect her students. Paper is easy.
Attendance is super important in this class! Mrs. Peters is a unique teacher because she really wants to see you do well. Turn in everything at its best quality, even if it is late. Very obsessed with monkeys, so be prepared. Tests are on the powerpoints, didn't take many notes or pay attention in class and I still got an A.
This course itself isn't a poor choice, it had interesting content. However, Dr. Peters was not the right professor to teach this course. She got her phD in primate studies, and spends copious amounts of time comparing human infants to chimps and it's very obvious it has nothing to do with the course & it gets to the point where it annoys everyone.
If you're stressed about never having time to do classwork, this is the class for you. She requires attendance because you can pass with flying colors without showing up a day in your life. You can practically sit there and do homework for other classes, and just go back and look at her powerpoints. Definitely not the best professor, but easy A.
she's so boring and you have to go to class to get credit. she is unclear on topics and even though she uploads her powerpoint theres so much useless information that you don't know what you'll need to know.
This class is HORRIBLY boring only because the professor makes it so. Her powerpoints overlap each other, she repeats herself constantly, and struggles to make a clear point, but then gets mad about her attendance dwindling, despite it being mandatory. Despite this, attendance is 20% of your grade, so you can still get a B if you never show up.
Super easy class, super sweet professor. All you need to do to pass is read over the powerpoints. If you have difficulty understanding them go to class, she makes everything really easy to understand and repeats it all a couple of times. She wants her students to do well
You want to get an easy A? Peters is your gal . With a doctorate in Primates and children, Dr. Peters focuses her anthropology class mainly on monkeys. Anthropology is the study of humans through time and space- a very cultural class; however, Dr. Peters focuses on something a bit different: The study of MONKEYS through time and space.
I was so excited to sign up for this class and learn about children growing up in different cultures but it turned into more of evolution class. Dr. Peters talks way too much about primates and because she created the class, there is nothing anyone can really do to change that. Definitely not what I had hoped it would be.
She was lecture heavy and tended to drone on. I took Childhood Around the World, but it felt more like a child development course. Assigned occasional articles to read, and each class included one or two questions answered on an iClicker for participation. It wasn't too engaging, however, the videos/movie shown were interesting.
Lectures aren't interesting but you need to show up to get the attendance credit. Graded by only attendance, one research paper, and two tests: the midterm and the final. She also does not give out a study guide, but also does not specify what exactly is going to be on these tests, you have to figure that out on your own.
Only one paper and two tests, but attendance is 20% of your grade, so go to class. Extremely easy class to pass, but extremely boring. PowerPoints make 0 sense, and readings are all scholarly articles that nobody actually reads. Just review PowerPoints before tests and write a decent paper and it's an easy A.
Dr. Elizabeth Peters is an extremely intelligent woman who is notably passionate and remarkably knowledgeable about what she does and the information she teaches. She is by far the sweetest professor I have ever had, and she really cares about her students and how well they learn the material. I highly recommend giving this professor a shot!
Really sweet teacher, but boring class. The final and midterm were not too difficult and the one research paper for her anthropology class was simple as long as you put some effort into it.
VERY boring, I got lost in most of her lectures. She has a very monotone voice but she is very passionate about anthropology. She is a biologist anthropologist so expect biology to be on the test. Definitely need to study for this class, her test are not the easiest but I finished the semester with an A-. Just have to study a lot.
Easy A, but very boring.
You don't have to pay for a textbook so that's a plus. But participation makes up 20% of your grade, so definitely can't skip class. Her lectures are really long and boring, and for the most part pointless. We watch movies for at least half of the classes, and I haven't learned anything valuable. Easy A if you show up though.
When Professor Peters wasn't complaining about class attendance or not being able to figure out canvas, she spent the lecture time talking about monkeys or showing movies that had nothing to do with childhood. She makes you write one paper and there are 2 exams. It's difficult to study for these exams, because you learn nothing in this class.
Easy class, but boring professor. Made sitting through the class difficult. Exams are super easy as long as you review the PowerPoints the week of. Fill in the blank with a word bank. She also gives you half credit if you answer a question wrong if you explain why you thought it was that. Every True or False question is TRUE (for the most part).
Nice lady, you can tell she cares about her students, but very, very boring lectures. Tests are easy because she posts all her powerpoints online. She does iClicker attendance every day for credit so you have to show up. Never opened the textbook.
if you study the powerpoints you will get an A on the midterm and final you dont need the book at all
Ms. Peters' lectures were very slow and not interesting. The class is not that hard but the lectures are unbearable. It's an easy A if you actually put a solid amount of effort, but waking up in the morning for that awful class was not fun.
Childhood around the world has nothing to do with childhood. More of a childhood development course. Professor Peters is very knowledgeable about her subject. Class can get very boring though, and iclickers make attendance mandatory. Sitting towards the front is essential to stay awake. eHRAF reports aren't very difficult and the class is okay.
Very nice professor. Cares about her students and keeps you in class the whole time. Easy class and few assignments. Would definitely recommend taking this class with this professor for your gen ed.
very sweet older lady who cares about education and wants for you to get the best out of your class. no need to buy the textbook because she has very detailed power points.
This class is definitely an easy A. Participation is huge in this class. You have to show up to answer easy T/F i-clicker questions and 99.8% of the time they are true. You do not need the book. She posts powerpoint slides every day after class. The exams are WORD for WORD from the powerpoints. Study the powerpoints, show up, and you will pass.
Dr. Peters truly cares about her students, but her lectures are boring. You basically can tune out as long as you answer the clicker questions at the beginning of class (the answer is true 99% of the time) Read the gold and colored text in the power points to study for the midterm and final Minimal effort required on the paper. No Textbook Required
Take this class, coming from a slacker... Its very boring but she is a nice lady. The class is so easy its just iclicker questions (answer is always true), a midterm & final that you can cram just by reviewing her ppts cuz the tests questions are word for word, and one paper which isnt hard at all.
The class was fairly easy, you're only graded on 2 exams and 1 research paper. The exams were doable as long as you review the powerpoints and the research paper was extremely easy. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you don't feel like reading the textbook, just go to class. The lectures were super boring but she gets the information across nicely
Professor solely lectures based on her powerpoints which can be all found on Canvas. Mandatory attendance due to daily iclicker questions which are few points but also are used for attendance too. Very knowledgable but hard to gain interest with her lectures. She very much doesnt like talking and interuptions. No need to get the book.
Peters means well but she is incredibly boring. Her lectures are very monotone and hard to sit through. But, participation is worth 20% of your grade with iClicker quoins (answer is T 95% of the time.) Not a lot of work, a midterm, final and one paper that is annoying to write but graded super easily. Tests are word for word from powerpoint. Easy A
She seems stern and rough at first but you'll come to realize that she doesn't grade stuff, hers TAs do. Midterm and Final are pretty easy if you study the powerpoints. Only tough thing is the Research Paper, but just about everyone gets a 100 if you do it and on time. Easy A with little work. Go to class though because of iclicker questions.
Dr. Peters will lecture the entire time. The class wasn't very difficult, and I actually over-studied for the tests (98 on midterm and 95 on final. the tests are super easy if you just read the highlighted words in the PowerPoints). Seems like a draggy class but the material gets more interesting as the semester goes on. FIY: Her TAs are USELESS.
Boring class but easy A. I did well on the tests by just studying the power-points. As long as you turn in the paper on time you'll get an A. Attendance is required because part of the grade comes from iclicker questions. I would probably take the class again if the material wasn't so boring.
If you want a class to put you to sleep, this is you're golden ticket... 9:30 every morning, better drink a few extra cups of coffee.
Worst class I have ever taken at FSU. She is extremely rude, & frankly you won't learn anything in this class. We talked about monkeys & bones the entire semester. She checks attendance every single class & if she sees someone get up & leave she'll do a second check. Try and avoid this class if possible, and if you can't then bring other work to do
I am a Senior with a 4.0 and wanted a passable class to keep my GPA. I actually enjoy Peters, you can tell she wants her students to do well. Students tend to be disrespectful which is why she seems harsh in response. Two tests, study slides and pay attention you will do great! One big paper, which TAs give feedback. 10/10 would take again.
this class is so boring and she is so rude to her TAs, it's sad to watch. she knows the material which is good. attendance is mandatory because she puts up iclicker questions up every class.
Prof Peters is very boring and isn't the nicest to her students. Attendance is 20% of your grade so it is important to show up. She says her mid term and final is "multiple choice" and it isn't. The tests are answer choices 1-30 each and are very very specific. The paper you have to write is VERY easy and can boost your grade up by a lot!
Her lectures are almost impossible to follow and it's difficult to get help in this class. There 4 grades for this class, attendance being 20%. Don't bother buying the book.
Dr. Peters means well, but don't expect to gain much from her course. Incredibly dull lectures. The textbook is useless - save your money. You have one assignment and it's a paper which she lays out exactly how to write. iClicker questions are True 99% of the time. Study the yellow & blue text on the lecture powerpoints for your exams. Easy A.
You have to show up to class for iclicker attendance and its easy but the exams are fill in the blank and no exam review. Exams are very hard to pass bc no material to study.
Mandatory attendance . Lectures are boring . IClicker questions daily . One paper not hard . Two tests you dont need to pay attention in class but know everything on every slide.
The most boring lady on planet Earth. She genuinely has a talent for being very boring. Study the powerpoints thoroughly for the midterm and final and you will get an A in the class.
I took Peters for both intro to anthro and childhood around the world. Both easy A's. However, the cost of it was my patience with her. Monotone lectures, powerpoint slides that are repeated 4 times, and rants about how students should take school more seriously. Like I said, easy A's but goodness at what cost? Avoid Peters. A's are not worth it!
This woman is a great person, however she can not teach. We spend half of every class waiting for her to figure out how to work the iClickers or calling the tech people to the class room. She is obsessed with monkeys and I just wanted to learn about childhood around the world. She is very sweet, but I can't recommend this class at all.
Elizabeth Peters seems to genuinely care about what she's teaching. I took this class Freshman year and I haven't had a more boring class since. I went to the lectures just to get my iClicker points (for attendance) and messed around on my computer the whole time. Put ANY effort into the research paper, study test Quizlets, and you'll do well.
She is def a knowledgeable prof, but her lectures are unbelievably boring. She takes attendance through iClicker questions every class which can earn you extra points if you get them right. Her tests aren't hard if you study her powerpoints. Don't expect to leave class early though because she will call you out in front of everyone. Def a lil rude
Your grade in this class is determined by attendance, iClicker questions, the midterm, final and one paper. That's it. The material is interesting but the lectures are kind of boring. You can get by without doing the reading as long as you understand the general idea each one covers. A pretty easy A.
One of the most difficult professors I have every had. Attendance is mandatory and she takes Iclicker questions in the beginning and middle to make sure no one leaves class early. We were not allowed to leave to use the restroom and come back unless we had a medical condition (she has no right to know). She does not answer questions. Quizlet & ppt.
Elizabeth Peters is knowledgable about the information she lectures about. The class is SO boring. The downside is that attendance is mandatory and iClicker questions count towards a large percentage of your grade. She doesn't respect students when they ask questions. Very strict on attendance and classroom conduct.
Dr. Peters is one of the nicest ladies you'll ever meet. I'm not sure why her ratings are so bad if her class was so easy. Only thing is that you have to go for the iClicker quizzes.
Took this class online, if you dont show up to the lectures theres no way youre going to pass. The quizzes are based off of the powerpoints and lectures so as long as you show up the class is very easy.
Dr. Peters was honestly a gem, she not only prepares you for her quizzes but will assist you if youre having any issues. Shes very understanding and kind. If you listen to the lectures and go over the PowerPoints you will do just fine in this class. Truly a class I would recommend because it really gets you thinking about how we evolved. 10/10
Not only does this class not teach you about childhood around the world, but the lectures are unbelievably boring and Peters is very rude and straight up disrespectful to her students. Expectations for assignments are unclear. Do not take this course unless you absolutely have to.
Paying attention to the PowerPoints is your best friend. This class is fairly straightforward, relying mostly on the lecture content and less on the textbook (although still useful to have). Good intro class for the major area, but the class itself is pretty dry due to the nature of the material on a platform such as Zoom.
This is a super easy class and Dr. Peters is an amazing professor. If you actively go to class and take notes there's no way to fail, every question is pulled directly from her lectures. She's also very understanding and cares about you and your grade in the class.
In short, she's mean. Complains about everything and is rude when people ask questions she doesn't like. Babbles about how she doesn't like Canvas or how certain things work and wastes time. Her presentations are decently straightforward but bore me to tears. Also, she will not give you a letter grade for the entire semester which is super fun.
This is the most boring class in all of history. Ms. Peters makes it so boring and the material is so uninteresting unless you want to be an anthropology major.
You have to be interested in Anthropology to enjoy her class. The class isnt too difficult, she just doesnt make it interesting. She is truly boring and she rambles on and on in her monotone voice. She over explains things and then gets irritated when people get lost. Overall I wouldnt take this class unless its a prerequisite you need.
Professor Peters is incredibly rude and disrespectful to her students. The lectures are boring and contain so much information it was hard to grasp what was actually important. There are only 4 quizzes (no tests) and one paper so if you don't do well on those you have no chance.
Dr. Peters is a sweet lady but her lectures are extremely boring. Material is easy to learn and understand, and the quizzes are simple as long as you pay attention to the material. However, your grade is weighted on only a few things.
Easy B/C NOT an Easy A. What you put in is what you get. Her lectures are BORING. WE had quizzes that were Honorlocxked & hard if you didn't pay attention in the lecture. They are very descriptive and word for word from her PP(which are long)Time limit not enough for quizzes. Multiple-choice & matching on quizzes. 1 final, 1o page paper (not hard)
She lectures for the entire class and her PowerPoints are the longest thing ever, with the same slides repeated 3 times for no reason. Honorlock quizzes were fairly easy, but the final exam is NOTHING like any of the quizzes. It asks EXTREMELY specific questions with quotes that were not discussed in class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Lectures are long & boring. She is very rude to students who ask questions, and not very clear on what she wants in assignments (so that can be annoying). I took this bc I thought it would be an easy A, it def is not. her powerpoints are formatted weirdly & it is very difficult to take notes off of them and her lectures.
not only is this class more of a childhood development class more than a childhood around the world class, but peters lectures are extremely long and boring. her powerpoints are ridiculously long with my repeated slides that makes taking notes very difficult. in addition, we seem to learn an extreme amount about monkeys which seems odd
Everything about this course was boring! On top of that, shes rude to students and her own TAs. Her teaching style is poor as her lectures just become long rants and rambles but is unable to clear students confusions on the given material. There's a paper at the end, its easy to do as long as you follow the given criteria.
Her class was kinda boring but attendance was not mandatory. If you did show up to class we would watch movies that were interesting. We took quizzes that were not hard but some questions were about the movie so it was best to just show up. She is an easy grader and helps with questions. A very nice lady and I would recommend.
Dr. Peters is not a good teacher at all. She starts and finishes long rants on random topics when she could be teaching such as multiple 15 minute rants about masks or showing up because of tax dollars. She is awful with powerpoint, her presentations jump around in no apparent order and she spends way too little time on each slide to get full notes
I truly can't find a positive about the way she teaches. I have learned more about her stance on masks and politics than I have on the actual material. I can't stand this lady and don't recommend anyone to take this class with her unless you have to.
She is the worst professor I have ever had. She only talks about her views on masks and how we should attend class because of tax payers. She is rude and interrupts students when they are answering or asking a question. I really wish I never took this class but now I'm stuck. Her lectures are awful and she is so boring. Do not take her class!!!
Professor Peters answers each student's question with a defensive manner, she takes students questions as insults on her teaching. She posts powerpoints with 100+ slides per lecture and for the midterm, she gave the powerpoints as our main study material. Therefore, 100+ slides of review for 2 lectures a week for the past 8 weeks... not so helpful.
Very hard teacher to follow. She is very monotone, is not good with the tech, and goes over the last lecture for half the next one. Doesn't do study guides since she posts the lectures. If you can get another teacher, try to.
The absolute most boring and tedious class. Professor Peters rambles on for 45 minutes and then tries to squeeze the 50+ slides of the lecture in the next 30. No study guides, very few things to be graded on, and you don't know your grade until the very end. Mandatory attendance and LOTS of material in each powerpoint. Get ready to suffer.
class is graded by attendance, a paper 25% of final grade, midterm - also 25%, and the final - 30% of ur grade. shes incredibly boring, each lecture consists of about 50 slides. she puts up a slide w a ton of info, you go to write it down, and she goes ta the next slide with like nothing on it and stays on that for like 10 min. dont take this class
I was amazed that a professor could be this openly rude to students and TAs. People ask genuine questions and get scolded. The lectures are long and not super entertaining but the movies are nice. The tests are not difficult if you show up to class and do the reading but an I clicker is used in this course.
Do not take a class with this professor. Her lectures are extremely unorganized and hard to follow. She goes on rude rants anytime someone asks a question. Attendance is taken everyday with annoying iClicker questions. She is a confusing and rude lady. She makes the topics of the class boring and annoying just by the way she teaches them.
Her lectures are very unorganized and hard to follow. I have gone to every single class, paid attention, and taken notes and I couldn't tell you what we're learning. Spends most of her lectures talking about monkeys. Goes on rants about her personal beliefs and it made her class a complete waste of time and money.
She clearly has a love for her class, but theres just a lot of cons to her class that out-way this. She answers questions rudely, goes on random tangents unrelated to class material, and the overall course grade is based on just a few things.
Only thing that will ever help is taking notes in class, but her lectures are terrible so it is very hard to pay attention. Very strict on attendance (gets mad if you go to the bathroom). Not a lot of homework (only one paper), but the content is hard to swallow. Would not recommend as a gen ed.
You can really tell that Dr. Peters has n extensive knowledge of anthropology and that she is passionate about it. She can be a little bit rude sometimes, but it pretty manageable. This class isn't that hard if you attend class, since she does iClicker questions; taking notes is essential. Her exams are mostly fill in the blank, and very easy.
This class is an intro 2000 class but is treated like a 4000. The lecture was very hard to pay attention to as she dragged on and skipped quickly through important slides. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR.
The content of this class alone was difficult but her lectures made me not want to go. They were so boring and montone that I always ended up leaving early. She gives 2 big exams, a midterm and a final, and then a lengthy report which will pretty much make up your grade in the class.
Used her class as an extra hour and a half to get hw done. Lectures are totally useless but you have to go for iClicker or your grade will suffer. Exams were easy, make a quizlet with literally all the information in the powerpoints and youll be fine. The TAs grade the big papers, youll be fine as long as you try.
Attendance is required for iClickers. Her lecture powerpoints are all over the place and go back and forth so you have to either make room on the topic to go back to in case or just revisit the posted slides and make your own notes. A lot of information that isn't hard per say, but you will have to study your notes from the lectures for the exams.
I took this course for a SS credit thinking that I would like it, and immediately regretted it. She is terrible at giving lectures, her lectures are all over the place, and drowns you in so much information that you do not even know what to study for. The course work is overall easy, but can be overwhelming if this is your fist semester in college
This is probably one of the worst teachers i've had. Gives powerpoint with little information and lectures the entire class. The only things you get graded on our attendance, one paper, the midterm, and final. No room to improve grade and she pretty much helps with nothing. Would never take a class with his teacher again.
There were so many problems I had with the class and professor. Lectures were unorganized and nothing was enjoyable about this class. She also had the grades disabled the whole semester so we didn't know what we had and there was nothing we could do to improve it as she only graded attendance, one paper, the midterm, and the final.
There were about 3 assignments and attendance. You had no idea what your grade would be for the entire year. Lectures were boring and you are required to memorize every word said in the lecture. If you do not do well on the midterm or final... GOOD LUCK!
Do Not Take Her Classes!
Lectures are all over the place and do not make sense, i suggest reading the book (which is more work ik), she uses iclickr for attendence so be ready to buy the app! good luck is all i have to say
Going into my senior year, I have come back to write this review about professor Peters who I took during my freshmen fall. She talked in circles during her lectures which made it difficult to take notes. I felt the class itself had a lot of potential to be interesting but the execution was not there. I would never advise someone to take her class.
Lectures can be disorganized, but using unstuckstudy's study tools along with the textbook helps manage the dense content. Attendance is mandatory, so be prepared to use iClickers. Overall, a challenging but manageable class if you put in the work.
This course has little to nothing to do with its title. it's mind numbingly dull and pretty much a waste of time. It is pretty easy unless you stop showing up as attendance is a large portion of your grade. If you're looking for an easy A and have nothing else better to take then this class will give it to you just don't skip too often.
This class has been a complete waste of time with a rude professor who doesn't provide good guidance on work. We had very few assignments that consisted of a midterm, final, and 10 page report. She gives very little information on how to write or structure the report. She's also very rude when students asks questions making the class uncomfortable.
The class itself is easy, but Dr. Peters is a bit rough. She is an older professor with a very soft voice which makes it difficult to hear her lecturing. She also barely takes questions, and when she does, she doesn't really answer them fully. Really easy to get an A, even if you don't read the readings. Just watch the films and show up for class.
Extremely mundane lectures. Peters makes no attempt to engage with or get to know her students. My class has
Professor Peters was awful, her lectures are obscure and she goes on tangents making it difficult to take notes, she rarely takes questions, when she does she's extremely rude in answering them, the class is graded on attendance, 2 tests, and a 10-page paper with vague instructions. Don't take this course for its title, you will be disappointed
