Expect to do a decent amout of work in this class. Very nice professor, very clear and helpful. EXTREMELY generous grader.
Very funny, very enthusiastic, knows her stuff. Despite alot of presentations her classes are insightful and fun. Good teacher to know.
The most interesting class i've ever took
She's funny, and actually makes you understand and kind of go through an experience. Very helpful for the future. No txtbk. Just articles. Take-Home MidTerm -harder, a lot of writing, but its ok its takehome. 3-4 papers to write. Take her!
NO TEXTBOOK, BUT DON'T BE FOOLED, A LOT OF WORK. NOT CLEAR ON WHAT SHE WANTS BECAUSE SHE WANTS A LOT OF STUFF IN ONE ASSIGMENT. INTERESTING MATERIAL... BUT NOT EASY.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED HER! She is an amazing teacher. If you are interested in the class, she's the perfect teacher. You will have work to do but she's a fair grader. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!
Great Professor, a lot of reading and writing material. You learn a lot and its very motivating. You will enjoy this class. No Textbook but a lot of work.
This professor is very good, she will have you do quite a few assignments but she is a fair grader and will try to help you get the best possible grade in the class...I high recommend her.
Incredible professor!! You leave her class with a profound understanding of the class focus. She expects lots of work from you but its all worth it. She is respectful very very knowledgeable and a no nonsence woman. I highly recommend her clases. I took 3
Most work I've done in the past 3 years I've been at Baruch, esp the 20 page paper over the spring break. I had so much work to do I had to struggle to keep up in my other classes. Be prepared...
she is very interesting and motivating. although there are quite a few assignments, it is well worth it
Can anyone please post how does she grade - how many exams, how many papers and so on. Thank you!
WOW!I never had a professor like this before! She is the "authentic" professor. Definitely one of the best!
very tough professor but definately one of the best. i've never hard to do this much work with any other professor but it was worth it. 2 exams each worth 30 and 1 paper worth 30 and 10 for group project. if you fail one exam don't worry too much about it you can still come out with a very nice grade, just have to miss out on a bit of sleep.
Nice professor. At first I thought she, as a feminist, was going to discriminate against men, but I was wrong. Very cool teacher, pretty easy tests. One thing you have to do in order to get a good grade on a TOUGH research paper: do what she tells you to. Make sure you understand what excactly what she wants you to write about. Take her!!! A+++
She is an amazing profesor!! iI learned a lot in her course on Disabling Conditions, she truly has a passion for this feild, therefor knows a lot about it. She is always available for help and is concerned in how you are doing in her course. She is very down to earth, sets a very comfortable class setting and it was a pleasure being in her course.
This professor gives a ridiculous amount of work I could hardly concentrate on my other courses.A pretty though research paper and very unclear about what she wants exactly no reviews for exams!only good thing she is a fair grader be very prepared!!
Shes hands down the best psych teacher ive ever had! It was an easy A. She did give alot of work, but it was very easy & we had alot of time to do it. She gave us a chance to increase our grades and all.she would stay after class to help us. Plus, shes the deputy chair of the psych department,so u can complaint to her a/b other psych professors.
Very highly recommended. she is one of a rare kind of educators that really wants students to understand the material. It's not all about grades (if you will work you will get a good grade)
1st class teacher, She exemplifies everything teacher should be b/c u actually learn alot and get a good grade. Plus she's a genuinely nice person - the class is never boring
An amazing profesor!! I learned a lot in her course on Disabling Conditions. Has a passion for the feild & knows a lot about it. Is always available for help and is concerned in how you are doing in her course. Very down to earth, sets a very comfortable class setting and it was a pleasure being in her course. I'd take another 1 of her courses 100%
the best prof out there. have to do some work, have to read the material, but its all for the personal benefit. the lectures are mind-opening. unlike many other profs, she makes you think. paper, two tests, and presentation. take her!!!!!
very hard ask for too much work do not take her
She's one of the coolest prof in Baruch. She asks for a lot of work but that work is not so hard. She's an easy grader too. I had fun in her class and learned a lot. Greatly recommended!
she's a really nice prof! easy grader, despite quite a lot of work required! i just liked her teaching techniques a lot, and she really made the classes interesting =]
she is the best prof. i ever had. the class is sooooooo much fun, very interesting and never boring. the over all class is not that hard.
for the 1st time i can use "enjoy" to describe a class.Dr.reis is the best prof in Baruch.she brings the topic to life,so much to learn.lots of work, but study all the handout, and do the work.u'll be fine.
Her class is a real eye opener. I took her for intersession and I can honestly say I LOVEDD her class! It was a 9AM class but everyone was awake and alert because the topics are so interesting. TAKE her and you will not be disappointed. Read the textbook and write a few papers and you'll do fine.
workload heavy but an easy grader. lots of discussion, group work, papers, presentation. interesting lecture. very understanding toward student!!
she's great
Great professor, great class, great class. Take it! She bake us brownies!! Take it for the brownies!!
She is the best Professor I had at Baruch, so far. She is helpful, willing to go the extra mile with you. She is fun, brings snacks to class sometimes...Just Wonderful..Also great grader.
Nice and cool. As people said she baked brownies and the last 3 or 4 weeks you sit around every class listening to people talk about a mental illness that he/she picked and speak once. I was very worried about it but if you pick a common illness it'll be easy. So you have a fun almost work-free last month. But before that there's A LOT of work.
How do 3 essays and 1 report that is 10 pages sound? Midterm & final are short essays as well. Highly recommand to take her if you love to write. You can learn alot from that. She's very helpful and clear in the subject matter.
She was really helpful to me. After I bombed the first test and got a 13 she was so piss at me. But after I talked to her and told her my problems she was very understanding. She told me I had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)from my experience in Iraq! After that she helped me out a lot. Although you have to do some work, it's all good.
After the first test, which was the hardest of my LIFE, I dropped the class. It was all long answers, 20+ questions, you had to REALLY memorize the textbook, DSM, her notes, lecture and then you'll still mess up.
She is great! Not a boring moment in her class, she actually knows how to teach this material, but u have to work hard. It's not an easy A class, so the people that complain about Prof. Reis is b/c they're lazy. Don't bother taking the class if you're not willing to do the work...
VERY difficult exams. They're all essay/short answer. She says you don't need to memorize the DMS's but if you don't, you're basically hopeless. Interesting class, though. Take her if you have great attention to detail. Otherwise, move on.
MUST NOT TAKE HER. SHE WOULD EVEN GIVE YOU A D IF YOU WERE GRADUATING. SHE TOLD ME THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER I'LL BE FINE BUT AFTER THE FINAL GRADE CAME IN, I HAD AN F. SHE DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT AND BECAUSE OF THAT MY GRADUATION WAS DELAYED. SHE DOESN'T CARE OF COURSE AND DOESN'T OPERATE. HER EXAMS ARE HARDDD
Lot of work in her class, DO not register for her if you can't give at least 20 hours study per week to this class. She'll screw you off and you won't even realize. she is a double standard. makes u feel good about your grade and performance and at the end straight F or D. so becareful. i studied about 25 hrs per week and got a B-so BEWAREEE
so bad...i took her even after reading these nasty comments thinking she migt be good but god bless her...two words, avoid her
She is a goog professor, but she gives too much work in the psychology class. I drop the class at the begin of the semester.
BEWARE: This class is more USA Feminism than it is actual physiology/thought process of women. This course is intended for those actually interested in Psy. If you ARE, you will find Dr. Reis very knowledgeable, entertaining, and worthwhile. One of my favorite classes this semester.
She is a good prof as other people said, but gives too much work, and you don't have time for other classes.I dropped her class at the begin of the class bc I can't handle too much work. If you like alot of work, then take her.
Avoid at all costs. She seems very down to earth but don't be fooled! She messed up my GPA after telling me that I would do fine (I'm a Psych major)... Her exams are ridiculously difficult and after she tells you to not study certain things (DSM's), she'll still put them on the exams. I really wish I didn't rely on the ratings on here. AVOID!
don't take her, shes so preoccupied with being organized that she ends up making the class disorganized
You will have to work for the A, but its attainable. Her tests are short answer with no multiple choice which makes them tough. But if you doo all the hw and 1 project you dont even have to ace the tests to get a A. She doesnt count them heavily which is nice, Take her!
Elizabeth Reis is one of the best professors I have had. She really cares about your education. She will guide you step by step for your presentation. She is extremely down to earth.
The midterm was tough! short and long essays, no multiple choice questions, you have to diagnose people, you have to memorize the DSM IV for all disorders because you dont know which one will be in the exam. The Research paper was difficult, I guess if you are a psyche major, and don't have to work, take her, if not, don't take her.
Professor Reis is difficult to understand at first, but once the material is explained, there is no reason why someone shouldn't get an A in her class. I wouldn't suggest for you to take her if you're just trying to fill an elective credit. If you don't understand something, then ask her, that's why she's a professor.
Look, Professor Reis is a great lady but her exams are just too difficult. The other psych 1001 professors at baruch give you multiple choice tests, whereas Reis' tests are all fill-ins that will run you 15 pages (including front and back) in a blue book to complete a test. It's just not worth it for an intro psych course. And I have a 4.0
Very enthusiastic professor but I think she focused a bit too much on women and not enough on men. Class wasn't hard but she gives a lot of work.
Very passionate about her profession a little dry at times. Plenty of manageable work. Very helpful with the material and accommodating to complicated schedules
Very passionate and knowledgeable but a little bit too opinionated for my taste. She wasn't terribly clear about what she wanted in assignments or exams, her tests are not multiple choice, and her subjective grading was kind of annoying. But she is lovely! So I'm torn!
I had to take her for 2 or 3 classes. HAD TO. I will never forget her, as I seriously think something is wrong with her. I had to work, work, and work even harder--not that I don't understand the requirements, this is college, but she is overboard. I would never take her class again. Be warned. She has been at Baruch about 25 years- Enough!
She is a great professor, passionate about what she does and makes it easier to come to her if we have any problems. At first she seems intimidating but she is not, she is will listen to your problems when you need someone to help you. Take her, she will actually learn something that is useful.
She is really cool. When you first get into her class you think wow so much work, but in reality it is very simple. 5 assignmets (1-1.5 pg) A presentation on sexuality. A women paper/presentation, and two test ( not multiple choice). I barely did any work in her class and managed to maintain a B or higher on everything. Take her she is great :)
She's an interesting professor, keeps the class entertained. A bit intimidating at first because of the work load. Her syllabus can be a little more organized because students had no idea what was going on in class at times. About 5 assignments, relatively easy. 3 exams, 1 presentation. Tries hard to help you with the material. Nice lady overall.
i just think that she overloads students with so much print outs. I ended with a full binder, i think she should just make her own book. She is not that bad you just really need to work really hard. I got an A.
passionate, gives a good deal amount of work. very chill and cool to make you laugh. interesting class overall
She usually grades assignments in a timely manner, and will personally explain anything you don't understand. She'll tell you that you need one of the later editions of the book but you can get an older edition for a few dollars online. The information is mostly the same so don't waste your money. Overall, good class.
Prof. Reis is a spunky and nice woman, however my main qualms with her are that, often, she did not explain the material very articulately. My classmates and I found ourselves very confused as to exactly what she was asking of us in class. That was the one thing that really irked me, but her exams were fair: txtbk and note based.
Liz is a diamond in the ruff. She is so extremely helpful and truly teaches her class. Every student has left her class having learned a tremendous amount of material. She cares about your success and wants you to be a professional at what you do. Her syllabus and instructions are a mess, but if you ask questions - she will clarify greatly.
She's a fair grader. All exams/extra credit are essay. Attendance isn't mandatory. Also one group presentation. Easy A if you can function at a college level in writing and presentation.
Taken Dr. Reis for Gender and Life Exp and had positive experiences with both. She truly cares about her students. See her during office hours if you are ever confused about an assignment and play close attention during lecture. She will never test on something she didnt mention in lecture.
AWESOME. SHE CARES AND YOU LEARN
Love! I took her class last summer as a non-degree student. Although it was at night she definitely kept you engaged and moving, especially since half the class was group style. Made some cool friends too. :) Going to take 3056 with her this summer!
Grades are based on assignments and 3 exams. Her exams are not necessarily the easiest, most of the material come from the textbook so make sure you study. The assignments are nothing you can't handle. She's also very helpful and funny!
Loved her! She's one of my favorite prof at Baruch. She's funny when she talks and keeps the class entertained, met a lot of new friends. She's very easy to approach, her workload wasn't bad, exam was easy as long as you paid attention and read the text. She's very friendly, and understanding. Definitely take her, easy A :)
Attendance is required, textbook is required. Although I didn't receive the best grade, she is a good professor. Just make sure you read the textbook, all her test questions come from the textbook and her handouts.
If Psy is your passion or/and you are considering to go for Mental Health Counseling - Dr. Reis is your professor!! She is truly AMAZING. Crystal clear, interesting, engaging and VERY knowledgeable. If I could take her for all my Psy classes, I would.
I LOVE HER. shes GREAT! But pay attention in class because all her exams are off class notes and the notes she has on blackboard!
Excellent professor. She cares about her students and how well they understand the topic. She is very enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. I took her during winter and the work load was a bit tough because of the essays and short response tests. Pay attention in class and read the textbook and it should be a well deserved easy A.
unorganized and unclear -one girl had to make her own version of the syllabus because of all the changes
Liz is an amazing professor! She really cares about her students. Her tests are all short answers and based on slides she posts on Blackboard and the textbook. She can be a bit unclear at times but she's always happy to help you & clarify anything. She's a fair grader & really into group work. Got an A in her class. Take her & you'll learn a lot.
Professor Reis is amazing. Very helpful, easy exams (if you study), and truly loves to teach. She is the best professor at Baruch and you wont regret taking her!
Dr. Reis, is a very nice lady. BUT! Shes extremely confusing, not clear at all and she can get rude if you ask her to clarify. At one point i was so confused and discouraged i was considering dropping the class despite getting an A+ on my first test and paper. Syllabus was constantly changed and unprofessional at times.
I absolutely love Professor Reis, she is extremely intelligent, clear, and engaging. I was NEVER bored! I highly recommend anyone to take her. She is the reason I decided to minor in Psychology. She believes giving a heavy work load is NOT useful for students, she does not think that helps you learn. You will not regret taking her. & Take notes.
Interesting class. She knows her stuff. She strays off the syllabus sometimes and can be a bit off putting (emails with lots of exclamation points and all caps, sometimes unclear feedback), but she means well. Group project at the end of the semester. I came out of the class enlightened on the subject.
Took her over the summer, class was completely online. Easiest class I've taken at baruch, no exams or final exam only a final paper and simple assignments due once a week. Super sweet lady and really wants you to do well! She responds over email quickly. Just follow her instructions and you will get an A - definitely a must take if you can.
She is probably my favorite professor ever at Baruch! She genuinely cares about her students as well as the subject matter. Very accessible outside of class and gives a lot of help during office hours. She makes sure you know what you need to for the exams and papers. Btw, she's a Lebron fan. Use it to your advantage haha.
I love her. You need to study to understand, not remember. Very important. She's helpful. Exams are not cumulative to the next. Drops lowest grade, I didn't need to take the final even. Lovely, adorable, brilliant, kind woman.
She is knowledgeable but just doesn't know how to teach. Extremely disorganized, even her blackboard assignments were misplaced (current class looking at material from 2016 class). She can also be condescending towards those who express uncertainty at the material being taught....
Class structure was confusing at first, but you understand better as the class goes on. As long as you do all the assignments on time and don't slack, you'll have an idea of your grade halfway through the semester. Group project is ok, she grades individually not group, so no worries about lazy groupmates. She's nice but can be strict.
Very lecture heavy course, and I won't lie I skipped a few times but made sure I showed up for all the tests. But that said, she doesn't really cover everything you need to know. You NEED to read the textbook too. Drops your lowest test score in the end. You get what you worked for.
4 multiple choice exams (no final exam). Lowest test score dropped. 5 credits of research studies required. The professor tends to jump around between topics; a bit disorganized. The exams are heavily based on the textbook. Her personal notes aren't too insight for the tests. The first 2 exams had 80+ questions, the second 2 exams had 50 questions.
4 exams, lowest is dropped. I messed up on the first exam because I did what she told us, which was to focus on the class notes and didn't focus on the textbook. For the next exams I didn't study the class notes at all, only the textbook chapters and I aced them. Just study the textbook. Test questions are very easy if you read the book.
I enjoyed her class. 4 tests (she drops lowest score) no final. Her tests are mostly based on her power points. I didn't even buy the book. She is cool, her classes aren't boring and there's no final. Tests aren't cumulative, the first two are the hardest. 3 chapters each and the last 2 are the easiest, 2 chapters each. Take notes you will do fine.
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR AN ONLINE CLASS. She is as vague as a professor can be. Only allows you to email her one specified day throughout the entire week. If you didn't email her during that day, she won't get back to you . Even if you do ask questions, she still may not answer. Three assignments, all papers with VAGUE questions. AVOID if you can!!!!!!
Decided to take this professor for an online class and I regret it. There's a lot of textbook reading involved but that's a given as it is an online class. Her assignments are very vague which make them difficult, it was tough to figure out what she wanted for the final paper. She was only accessible once a week which didn't help either.
I took her for an online course. The aissbgments are a lot of work. A lot of reading a lot of writing but it's not difficult. She's only available once a week which is annoying. But if you follow her directions and hand everything on time you'll be fine. She's very strict on following directions. But overall I'd actually take a class with her again
DO NOT take any of her online courses. She is beyond vague. She leaves you guessing at what you have to do. You can only contact once a week with questions and even her answers to those questions are vague. If you need clarity about her answers you have to wait another entire week to ask again. Please avoid.
She is pretty vague with instructions and it's a lot of guess work. You can only ask questions once a week on blackboard and she takes a long time to reply to emails. 4 assignments completely based off of the textbook. It take's some time to do but she gives you an ample amount of time to complete.
Overall she's a good professor. Her lectures are entertaining and interesting. The only thing is that she can be disorganized sometimes you won't really know what she wants until the midterm, once you understand the structure of the 1st exam the final will be a piece of cake. Just follow her instructions if lost talk to her she's very friendly.
If you want to mess up your GPA this is the professor you take. Seriously. The ratings here warn you she's not a good professor so you're taking her class at your own risk. From my own experience, she was incredibly rude and her assignments were unclear and incredibly vague. She doesn't care about her students.
4 exams in total and you can drop the lowest one or pass the last exam if you are satisfied with the grades. MC questions and some of them can be tricky. Attendance not required.
As others have said, her online courses are as vague as they can get. the way she writes her assignments is extremely unprofessional and you're always unsure of what she wants. doesn't help that she's only available once a week. avoid if possible
The grading system she has is terrible. her paper grades are totally unfair and doesn't respond to emails. Avoid worse teacher i have taken at Baruch College. GPA killer ill tell you from before you take.
Didn't learn anything from the lecture time. You should read the textbook and understand the definitions. Barley went. She is nice and knows her stuff, but she sometimes can go on a tangent about something that has nothing to do with the test.
3 assignments (25/40/35). Took it b/c online so convenient. Unorganized and untimely. Grades stuff late and feedback is unclear. Uploads 4 different documents to clarify what she wants for 1 assignment. Relatively easy to b/s. Papers written were half assed and still did well. Format super important, be meticulous. No curves. Got 92.5 A- smh :c
Reis is very rude and it is evident in her emails & bb announcements. This 1000 lvl class was too much work. No exams but a lot of tedious work including a 10page paper, making multiple choice questions for 2 chapters (w/explanations), ppt presentation, video watching + more. Avoid at all costs. She is disorganized, ill mannered, & unprofessional.
Shes not TERRIBLE, but shes not great either. She can be vague with what she wants so make sure you ask her questions as shes willing to answer them. She only answers emails once a week, but sometimes will go outside of that. You need to have good time management for this class. Put effort into the work and you'll do good.
DR. Reis was a great professor. I took her online for abnormal psychology. I feel like I learned so much from her teaching style as opposed to sitting in the classroom, having tests and cramming the night before. You can tell from her emails she does care. Time management is key, and actually reading the text book. I really enjoyed her class!
Assignments are a mess. Have to read them 100 times to understand what she wants from you. 4 huge assignments for semester, which is ok, but she's a tough grader. No proper feedback, you get what you get, without a chance to fix it or make up for it.
Nice lady but an awful professor. She knows her stuff but can't teach. Her lessons are out of order & exclude things, she starts teaching in the middle of the material and then has to go back and teach the beginning/basic stuff. Her lectures are a wreck, her BlackBoard is abhorrent, nothing is orderly or neat. Tests are way harder than her lessons.
Professor Reis is very knowledgeable and passionate about psychology, and she wants everyone to pass. No homework assignments, 4 MC tests, no final. The tests are easy if you study the PowerPoints she posts on BlackBoard and pay attention in class. Her lectures are disorganized, but got better on when she started using lecture outlines (USE THEM).
She's terrible. Honestly worst professor ever. Gives only ONE DAY out of 7 days for a FULLY ONLINE class to ask questions. And even then she doesn't answer on the given day. She's terrible. She's vague and repetitive and even in her "clarifications" she doesn't really clarify anything. She treats you as if you're dumb if you need her to clarify.
She's incredibly rude and unprofessional which is shown through her "clarifications" and she's very confusing. She said "to do slides on microsoft word" and in her clarifications, she's condescending and treats you as if you're stupid. If you're a fully online professor please clarify you want us to do it on powerpoint. not slides on word. terrible
Online course consists of 4 projects. Projects takes about 3-4 hours of work + 2-3 hours of reading, manage your time well. Professor in practically unreachable via email. Project guidelines tend to be vague, do your best to interpret and you'll do fine
Professor Reis is strict but very fair. I don't know why everyone's complaining because I found her assignments pretty clear, everything we've basically done in previous psych and philosophy courses. She didn't ask anything that a Baruch student can't handle. She is a real professor - intelligent and competent. Just do your best job!
I enjoyed this class; the material was interesting and you learn a lot; assignments are not easy but definitely doable. Prof. Reis is a fair grader; she is caring and friendly! I would recommend taking this professor; just do what's asked of you and you will do just fine!
Took her winter class. Her directions are pretty unclear so i strongly suggest you email her on Wednesdays abt questions you have so you're on the same page. I didn't do this and she told me i failed assignment two but she gave me a chance to redo it (nice of her) Honestly you should just email her before Wed and she will help you get the A.
3 assignments. You have to read the book. Her instructions are vague and she's only available once per week by email. I was able to complete the assignments without emailing her so its not too difficult. She's not a tough grader. I wrote my final paper on the wrong chapter smh but she accepted it and didn't take points off.
She is very disorganized and has a lot of typos. Especially her articles are mostly 20 pages of all CAPS, which makes it so annoying to read.
Shes fine. Her PSY 1001 at baruch will have 4 tests with 3 of them graded. she will drop your lower test scores. You dont even have to show up to lectures. Textbook is the key. just study the book because all the test materials is there. she just explains the book material in her own way in her lectures. Sona system is annoying though but you do it
Try to avoid this professor for her online PSY 4012 class. She is very disorganized , not there to help and instructions are very unclear. Don't get me wrong she seems like a nice lady, but if you can, avoid the stress and headache.
FYI, there's ONE textbook, and it is OLD and OFFENSIVE. Uses the n word, refers to people as "retarded", talks about Nazis a LOT, dismissive of queer identities. It's so bad. But the class is really easy. You know at the start what all the assignments and due dates are, no need to even listen to lectures. No exams, no participation grade.
Reis is a decent professor. For my semester, it was an asynchronous class and all we had to do for the entire semester was 5 short written assignments answering questions about articles and discussion posts on BB. Her assignments have clear grading but some of the questions are a little vague. But she allows us to email her for clarifications
3 Assignments. No exams. But instructions are super vague and unclear. You can only email her on before Wednesday for clarification but even after emailing her it was still confusing. She is nice, just instructions are the worst.
I would say she is a kind professor. She's only available through phone (texting) on certain days however. The grades are made up of ONLY four exams and the lowest one will be dropped. You are also required to complete some SONA research. Overall, easy class if you took time to take notes from both her recorded lectures and the (required) textbook.
Amazing professor. I took her in the summer, so there was a lot of reading and assignments to complete, but they were doable. She doesn't overwhelm you with work and makes sure to help you in every way she can. She allowed me to redo an assignment because I did it incorrectly. She's so sweet I recommend her!!
TAKE HER!!! Amazing psych professor. Took her in the summer and she gave clear instructions on what she wanted. Easy A. She doesn't grade harsh at all
Professor Reis is rude. Emphasis on rude. She'll drop your whole government name in an email to a whole class. Very disorganized way of submitting assignments. Refuses to use blackboard and never posts grades on there. Do not take her. I am sure there are other professors who teach the same course that are much better. I regret taking her class.
The class overall was okay but she isnt very descriptive on what to do for certain assignments.
There is no textbook use in this class and most of the work comes from weekly assignments. She is very strict on lateness and does not accept any late work. The assignments aren't that clear and you can barely understand what she is asking for.
Sorry but some students I have come across are so slow, they will read a syllabus and still ask a question with the answer in front of their faces. Her assignments are not vague, they are straight forward and simple enough. Put in some effort and you will get an A. I loved her, she gave good feedback and I aced the class.
She is a great professor! She makes mistakes at times but is willing to make corrections when you notify her. There are 5 not too difficult assignments and posts with no exams. For those who think she is rude, first think about your attitude towards her and if you gave her respect. I had her for PSY 1001 and 3055 and I can say she was never rude.
Very nice professor. Attendance isn't mandatory, four exams, no final, lowest grade dropped. Lectures were chaotic and disorganized, but the tests were multiple choice and straightforward. There is a textbook but it wasn't mandatory, no hw.
Book assigned is the 9th Edition. PP and tests go off of the 5th Edition. Pass the first 3 exams with an A and the last test isn't mandatory. You could take the last three weeks off to focus on other classes. A lot of BB announcements though more focus toward chapters for each of the 4 exams.
The work was never clear. She also called people out in her class emails. Helped some classmates yet I somehow got a lower grade. Gives word docs with instructions and gives short clips basically rereading whats on the doc . Only plus side is only consists of 5 assignments (it takes a lot of time so do not leave it for last minute).
Skip this professor if you're looking for better grades!
Very picky and the instructions aren't always clear. She calls people out in emails sent to the entire class. Can be confusing and doesn't always give clear responses when you ask questions. She favors those who email often with questions. You won't fail this class but I wouldn't take her unless it's a last resort.
Lectures were all over the place and she used a lot of different pdfs instead of one. But, the exams were easy if you read the textbook. She was very nice and wanted to help, so communication helps.
She's very very picky and posted materials on bb very disorganized. It's an intro psych, but she made it not easy and annoying, so it's harder to get an A. I wouldn't recommend her. Plz try u best to ignore her if you can!!!!!!!
Avoid her as much as you can. She is a terrible prof and doesn't care about students.
Get Ready to READDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUMMER COURSE, NO FINALS, JUST THREE ASSIGNMENTS, THREE DISCUSSION POSTS, AND PEACE OUT!
I took this woman because she had a 4/5. Do not let that fool you. The work she assigns is awful and lengthy. This is an intro to psychology class but it sure doesn't feel like it. just looking at the work I have assigned for the week makes me want to cry. You will be miserable please avoid. on top of all tasks she assigns you have to do discussion
I was fooled by the rating of 4/5, only if I read those comments would I have never taken her. Tough grader with an intro class, assigned 4 HWs as it was a summer short session, yet each of them being lengthy and unclear. Instructions were all over the place; also tried to "argue" and defend it through texts, then was asked to stop messaging her
I THINK SHE'S OK IF YOU TALK TO HER NICELY, BUT SHE'S NOT CLEAR WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS. MATERIAL ISN'T HARD IF YOU READ THE BOOK, BUT STILL, TOO MUCH WORK...
I ignored when people said she was tough because I'm good at following directions of tough professors. However, I should have listened. She gives incredibly long strict criteria, yet it's very difficult to follow. Expects you to do everything to a t, yet her directions are full of grammar mistakes. Wants you to ask for help, but is rude if you do.
Rude professor. Unclear instructions.
If you're looking for an easy A-sync class this is not it. The workload is very tough despite there only being 5 assignments. Expect to dedicated 4-5 hours on each one. She is very hard to reach via email and she will address you personally in emails sent to the entire class. With that being said if you put effort in you will get a good grade
Professor Reiss, Was a terrible teacher. She doesn't grade well and doesn't care for her students. She will hurt your grade and enjoy doing it. DO NOT TAKE HER!
One word this professor is okay. Her class is based on four exams all worth BIG portions of your grade and mandatory sona research credits. Although she drops the lowest grade for like one exam it doesn't do anything for your grade. This is a intro class but feels like a upper level class because her class is only focused on exams that do no good.
I wouldn't recommend this professor. Very tough grader with little grace.
