For World Lit, the lectures felt kind of boring and redundant to me. Lots of high level reading that can be hard to keep up with but if you can get through it the class is pretty interesting. I enjoyed discussion sections too and I didn't find the grading too harsh but it depends on your TA.

RG as a professor is great. But if you have Mustafa as your TA I would suggest dropping the class immediately. He will not show up to office hours and will try to fail you. If you receive anything less 100 on the first assignment, drop the class bc the TA will grade worse on the next assignment.

Dr. RG is such a sweetheart! Her office hours are always so helpful when it comes to discussing readings, developing arguments for the assignments, or just chatting in general. Her grading is clear but it depends on your TA. My TA (Hamna) is amazing and she is very helpful! but again, the experience you get out of this class depends on your TA.

This class was super easy, but you have to get good grades on everything because there is only like 7 assignments. Attendance is a really big part of the grade and discussion is mandatory. She is super nice and interesting to listen to. Readings can sometimes get confusing but stay on top of everything and you will pass the course.

I love her so much. Extremely passionate about the material. No quizzes or tests, just small writing assignments and a video project. Readings are interesting, and you can skim them and still do well. Discussion sections are fun, you just talk about the reading and your opinions. Highly recommend for english/literature requirement!

Excluding the attendance grade, there were only 4 assignments. At the start of the semester that intimidated me, but trust that as long as you put effort into each assignment (as well as turn them in on time) you'll be okay! Discussion sections were terribly boring, but that's entirely on the TA. Definitely recommend Dr. RG for World Literature!!!

Great class. Only 4 assignments and attendance. Lectures were kinda interesting. My TA was very sweet and tried their best to make discussions engaging. Don't summarize for assignments in this class, always include every thought you have regarding the reading, even if it's silly. Analysis is really important to get full credit.

Dr. Richmond Garza made this course feel anything but required or chore-like. It's a fairly easy UGS with plenty of readings but you'll be fine with just sparknotes. The course content was enjoyable, interesting, and all of the above!

If you liked AP Lit in High School you'll like this class. It really is oriented over reading a decent amount of books, and 3 assignments, and as long as you try your best on them, you'll pass the class with an A most likely. Make sure to go to the discussion section and build a good relationship with TA's, since they're the graders after all

Not a hard UGS, but more work than other UGSs. LOTS of reading (just skim), weekly reading entries, and a few papers/projects. Project/paper expectations are not clear, so talk with your TA to make sure you got everything (TAs grade everything). Lectures were chill (mostly opinion-based instapolls).

Easy class but the few assignments take a lot of time, every point is a point towards your grade, make sure to do all the instapolls, I never went and only did 50% and lost out on an A due to attendance. Also the teacher and material is pretty cool but as a stem major I didn't really have time to read the extensive catalog. Harder than average UGS.

Dr. Richmond-Garza was an amazing lecturer who taught in an engaging way and seemed to actually be passionate about her class. If you show up to lectures and discussions, participate, and actually try on her assignments, you should get an A. She is a very solid pick if you're looking to get a UGS.

In UGS 303 Modernity and the Art of Uncanny the TA will either make or break you in this class. My TA was Thomas Rushin and my FIG peers could agree he was a very strict grader and extremely blunt. Dr. Richmond-Garza, however, was very sweet and understanding. Each lecture there are graded instapolls to answer but no tests or quizzes. SCARY MOVIES!

Absolutely incredible professor to have. It's a very fun class, though make time for doing a lot of reading, or at least looking at summaries to keep up on the material. Reach out to the TAs or Dr. RG themself if you have any questions, they're always happy to help.

Dr. RG's lectures are very interesting/engaging & she covers a lot of interesting topics! The one thing that I'd note is that we're required to read a lot for hw & you'll have to write two large papers (1 has 13 prompts and the other has 10) & you have to write 100 words per prompt (1000-1300 words total). The plus side is there's no midterm/final!

Dr. RG is super knowledgeable and passionate. The class is extremely reading-heavy, but the passages are often interesting and relevant to the course, obvi. The lectures are an hour and a half long, which can be grueling, but Dr. RG's visuals/audio examples can wake you up. Overall, she's super compassionate and truly loves what she does!

Professor RG was great. You can tell she's really passionate about her subject and the lectures were always interesting and engaging. There's no midterm or final, only 100-word entries for each reading, one paper, and final project. The readings often felt really heavy. Overall great class, if you keep up with everything it's an easy A.
