She's great! But extremely hard grader! She really makes you work for your grade, but with all this work, you become a much better writer. Don't expect to get higher than a B on her papers.
She's a great professor but really makes you work for your grades. She expects english majors to be great writers and grades critically which is helpful. Receiving a B or higher is considered very good on papers. Enjoyed her as a professor.
Great class- very interesting lectures. She's supser helpful outside of class if u take the time to ask questions, but she is a tough grader. English majors have to work on their writing skills to get a decent grade on her papers.
Extremely fair and intelligent. She runs her class with respect. If you give it, you shall receive.
I loved her and her class. Try to get her if you can for brit lit, shes much better than the other brit lit profs
i liked her alot. her lectures were cool and she's one smart cookie..her TA graded my paper too hard but from what I've heard so does she. Regardless, she teaches well and is really cool...
Very helpful, very nice woman. I'd like to have her again!
Will help based around her schedule. Hard grader.
Extremely good and challenging teacher. Very thought-provoking, great discussions and lectures. Keep up with the reading, or you're dead! Assignments and final are VERY challenging. Best English teaching I've ever had.
I LOVE this prof! Very energetic & lively, never bored. Tho she tends to have an outline of her lectures, she also races thru them rahter quickly. Will tests you each lecture to see if u did the reading and to check attendance tho!
I took Children's Lit to have fun. I didn't know Peter Pan has to do with Freud or any other s***. This class has ruined my appreciation for children's literature and i don't care what anyone has to say. It's amazing how much you can overanalyze...
Shes a really good teacher who seems to know what she's talking about though she tends to overanalyze the hell out of everything. the class was really interesting but try to get the right TAs.. your grade is based almost entirely on who you get!!!
Pretty easy class if you are at all interested in the true meanings of children's books. She does put up notes, but refuses to let anyone copy them, she says that they are for "her own edification". She's pretty hot though. Enjoyable class.
Lectures for this class were mandatory, when they really shouldn't have been. Learned more with TA than her, but she was good anyway.
Very enthusiastic and passionate about analyzing literature! I enjoyed her lectures and learned a lot from them. Great class as long as you're a fast writer or can glean the important info from her lectures.
She is very enthusiastic about what she teaches, and explains it with much clarity; however, the material is usually very unorganizely taught, the quizzes and papers although might seem like easy assignments that should reflect on the material they don't.
A diamond in the thick rough. She shows a genuine love for material, and has an excellent grasp on most angles. Very personable, and dedicated....which is very rare here at SUNY Bing. I highly recommend her.
#1cant hear wat she says bc she refuses to wear a mic she has a very unclear voice #2TA's dont know how to grade #3we cant write papers about how WE feel on the texts instead we have to get **** articles which are impossible to find
Class was fun in the beginning but after a month we had to begin reading about 1 book every 2 weeks and it killed me. Fun class aside from the reading but easy to BS the majority of it without reading (but not all). Great, friendly lady.We got along :-)
Great class. Very clear and helpful with questions. very laid back. papers are a kick in the****, but the class is really fun.
Great professor, knows exactly what she's talking about and 100% of the quizes is from the lectures. TA's are no help and writing papers is annoying, because you have to analize some article on the book that's impossible to find.
Great teacher. Really funny. Always has a crazy story. Great sense of humor. Love her.
Great class. Papers are a little hard, but overall, pretty fun.
Do not take this class. Prof. doesn't explain assignments, nor does she respond to emails or go to her office hours. Class usually becomes a gab-fest about the professor's children and/or high school. Also, she doesn't have tenure. And won't get it any time soon.
One of the best prof's in the English Department. Her class goes fast and she is really kind and helpful. She also loves chatting with students and thats nice too. Yay Signorotti!! :)
She's the best, she makes the class so much fun, it was the only class I genuinely loved to go to... she took the time to learn things about all her students... graded essays a little hard but gets easier as the year goes on... i recomend this class to anyone
bad teacher, avoid unless you just want the gen eds
she's a good person, but the class is boring. not exactly her fault, though. i would suggest the course, especially for the gen-ed, but don't expect anything spectacular from it. it's enjoyable to go to, and a piece of cake to do well in if you put in the effort.
In addition to being extremely sexy, she is also very articulate, and very precise. She tells you exactly what you need to know, and if you don't do well in this class, then it's your own fault. She's really easy to work with, and very helpful when giving feedback. Professor Signorotti rocks!!!
I had her several years ago for Brit Lit II. My main complaint about her is that she would lay down specific rules (i.e. no advance proofreading of our essays) and then break those rules for certain students.

Professor Signorotti is extremely good. She's tough, but fair. You earn what you get. It's not hard to do well in her class. Do the work and you'll be fine. (Besides, she's extremely attractive, and always well-dressed.) I find her to be an excellent female role-model.
She is one of the most knowledgable professors I had at Bing. She always knew her topic and I never had any reason to doubt a thing she said. It was great to watch others argue with her and have their arguments fall apart in a snap.

Very likable person, she seems understanding of issues that arise. she doesn't check her email often, but she does want to see the student succeed so she chats in or after classes to make sure students understand assignments and material.
She was a pretty nice teacher, and the class was easy enough and interesting
Very understanding, intelligent and passionate as well as knowledgable of literature.
You do not need to go to lecture. Theres 4 papers which compromise 80% of your grade and your TAs grade your paper. Get a relationship with your TA and your set. Signorotti is reasonable though and shows movies towards the end because she knows everyones burnt out.
Shes a great teacher, sometimes to much work tho
SO Difficult!!
She's a great professor, although alot of work she makes the workload easy. She's very nice and an excellent professor. But be prepared to get tough grades.
Don't need to go to lectures unless you have a paper due. She offers a lot of paper ideas and advice. Make sure you do well on papers n keep up on journals. The class is otherwise very easy.
She is an excellent professor. In lecture, she points out different themes and ideas that you can write on a paper. She is easy to approach and open to ideas.
Anyone that does not take this class is STUPID. Profesor Signorotti is the best english professor ever. She makes the class fun and is not that hard of a grader. If you work hard and pay attention, then there is no way you can't get at least a B+ or A. So definately take it, plus it gives you an easy HJ.
I took her 100 level Children's lit. class, but her smaller, more personable class was amazing. What other teacher brings in baked cookies, tells stories of her escape from Nigeria, and offers to party with you? She also worked to get our stories the most exposure; we were planning to go to a grade school to read our stories, but couldn't due to ti
You have to do your work and she will reward you for your commitment, but it is hard work. P.S. She is a terrific speaker! Simply stop in at one of her classes.
Brit lit is a lot of work (and boring). Children's lit is easy and interesting. She's nice and helpful but a strict grader. Make sure to ask questions or she will not go into details.
Children's Literature was great, i really loved the class. The teacher was ok, i really didn't have any opinions either way, but the class overall was really interesting.
she's really nice and provides an interesting approach to analyzing the books
Professor Signorotti, seems very interested in helping the students to learn material that very few of us are interested in; however, since this class is required we are forced to take it. Overall, she tries to see if we understand the material and does her best to make the material clear and presentable.
very good at explaining, if you didnt read something she'd explain it as if youve read it 100 times. just make sure you keep up w/readings and work really hard on the papers bc theres only 2 and a final, all 1/3 of your grade. i read about half of the required readings for the class, but just reviewed like crazy before the final and worked hard on
not an easy A as you think! she's a very strict grader. she's nice and helpful though. but then again, her discussions aren't that exciting.. sounds like they're fabricated subjective discussions. but then again, that's english!
I went to class about 4 times (to hand in the very very difficult 2 page papers, graded by incompetent TAs who didn't have a very good handle on the English language (ahhhh irony))...and I got an A. Take this class if you'd like to sleep late, get upper level credit, and boost your GPA. Nice person, average teaching skill.
if i went to lecture 4 times then that's a lot. it all depends on the TA you're assigned to. go to discussions and spend a decent amount of time on the papers and you'll be fine. lecture is boring, but some of the stories are interesting. it's an easy A
Dead, white, male poets are the majority of the course. She tries to make them comprehensible, but its still fairly boring. Not an easy A. Cover a lot of material rather quickly.
Absolutely amazing professor. Do the reading. Go to lecture. You will learn.
Not an easy A, but you should get in the B range if you do decent work. Instructs the TAs to grade hard on the 4 papers we had. Books are very easy and quick to read, but can be boring and completely different from Disney. Relates everything to Freud and sexuality. When attendances goes down, attend lecture, b/c she will take attendance.
awesome teacher
Great teacher, knowledable and approachable but, can sometimes zoom through class leaving you with illegible notes which are not really needed as there are no midterms or finals. Basically, get a good TA, know how to write a simple thesis paper and read the fun and flimsy fairy tales and your guaranteed an A/A-
Very good prof, cares about what we're studying which makes it more interesting. Was always very helpful and fair to me. Bit sorry I bought the texts, because although you HAVE to do the reading, most of the assignments are classic enough that they can be found online for free. I did every reading assignment but maybe opened the actual book twice.
Took this class as a distance learning. Posting wasn't strictly enforced, so you could get away with reading half the assignments. Only one short paper per week on one topic. easy
She obviously knows her stuff (especially about Freudian and Jungian interpretations of just about anything read). I never went to her office hours. She has a LOT of notes. WRITE FAST. You don't really need to go to lecture. TA is the one to impress for grades. Go to his/her office hours. SHOW INTEREST and improve.
Signorotti is one of the best professors at Bing. She is extremely smart, funny, and her class is very entertaining. Her knowledge of the material is fantastic, and she is a very fair and caring instructor. Highly recommended, take a class with her if you can!
Prof. Signorotti is one of the best professors I have had here. She's eloquent and extremely smart and makes the lectures very interesting. The essays are straightforward and easy if you go to lectures. She basically gives you everything you need in class so definitely go! Plus, it would be a shame to miss anything she has to say. She is so wise!
Professor Signorotti is absolutely amazing! Had her for Children's Lit last semester. She's beyond helpful and very intelligent. She's concise with her expectations and if you follow them you'll do well. Only thing I'd say is that she was a really harsh grader. She grades as if the class is like 400 leveled. Not an easy A, but it's AN AMAZING CLASS
Prof. Signorotti is amazing! she has such passion for her work that you can't help but get inspired. Her classes are crystal clear and interesting, every single one. It does matter which TA you get but if you utilize Prof. Signorotti the TA will notice. Use the writing center and don't go in thinking you know everything there is about fairy-tales.
Prof. Signorotti is, by far, the best teacher I have come across in Bing. She is chiefly concerned with helping her students understand every part of the material. ENG 380P is Children's Lit but more in depth and without the annoying TA's. This is an amazing class. If you have the chance, take it immediately.
This is my favorite class in Binghamton. Learn a lot, she is passionate, funny, hot, and very helpful. Going to lectures is very enjoyable. She explains critical thinking and things not explained when reading these texts for the first time. The best professor, take this if you can!!!!
I frwaking love this teacher...what!!! take this class is you can shes the best teacher ever... all u have to do is write 3 essays and read books based on childrens literature.... like peter pan, alice in wonderland, coraline.. like what more can u ask for in this class... i love it... take if you can gauranteed A....
I had her for Children Literature. She definitely knows her material. Goes in pretty deep for fairy tales. Attendance not mandatory but sometimes she does "name quizzes". Buying each fairy tale book was annoying, could probably find for free online. Descent amount of reading. Grading wasn't as easy as I thought it'd be. Nice class all in all.
I've had her for two classes so far and love her. The lectures are entertaining, the books are interesting. She bases her syllabus off of what students think and need, and is willing to modify it if need be. She's not the easiest grader on campus, but is fair. Her classes have a lot of reading, so be prepared keep up with numerous books and papers.
LOVE HER! I've had two classes with her and she's super funny and so nice. She gets input from the class for the books she should use the following semester. You won't be dissappointed! I'm not an english major but she is my favorite teacher so far (I'm a Junior) 3 page essays for about every book, very approachable.
LOVE HER! I've had two classes with her and she's super funny and so nice. She gets input from the class for the books she should use the following semester. You won't be dissappointed! Grades fairly. 3 page essays for about every book, very approachable.
she is so smart and so passionate about what she teaches. she's really down to earth and i love her lectures, but it really matters what TA you have for the class. I didn't get any help or tips from my TA did't know what to do for essays and quizzes and ended up with a B. not an easy A class. read read read and hope you have a good TA
One of the most interesting and passionate teacher in Binghamton University. Your grade is 100% on your TA.
Took Adolescent Lit with her, amazing teacher. I hate to re-state what everyone else said, but it's true; she is my favorite teacher at Binghamton. Interesting discussions (even if they get a little off track some times), very helpful, very approachable. Grading based on quizzes, essays, and attendance. No TA for this class.
Professor Signorotti is one of the best professors I have ever had! Her lectures are so much fun to go to and she values her students opinions just as much as her own! She really has a passion for what she teaches. I have taken two classes with her now and wish I could take more! She's an incredible professor... one of the best.
I don't love her as much as the other raters do, but she is very nice and down to earth. Class occasionally got boring because she has so many notes, but going back and re-reading children's books was fun. Your grade is based on response papers, 2 outlines and 2 essays and depends on your TA.
Fantastic professor. Really helps you understand children's literature in a new way. Very interesting lectures that are well worth attending. My favorite class of the semester.
The English department at Bing is really top notch. Signorotti is clearly incredibly passionate about teaching and loves the topic of children's literature. She helps students make abstract connections in fairy tales and makes your childhood stories really relevant to our age group. I highly recommend this class and the TAs are really helpful too.
Nicest woman ever. So cool and down to earth. Makes you think about fairytales no way you ever have. Could talk to her for hours. Ta's determine your grade..they can be horrible so make sure you get friendly with the professor.
Seriously one of the most charismatic, nice, and fun professors I've ever had. She obviously loves what she's talking about, and she's extremely funny and willing to listen to students' ideas. The tests are a bit challenging but if you go to lecture you should be in good shape. Lots of interesting insight to seemingly simple children's stories.
Signorotti was one of the best teachers I have ever had. All of the points that she makes are very clear and informative. She brings humor into all of her lectures and is very charismatic. I'll be taking as many more classes with her as she has to offer!
While this professor definitely knows what she's talking about, I have become increasingly frustrated with her. She informs us of things at the last minute, and when a handful of people complained, decided to punish the entire class like we're in kindergarten. She has changed quiz and due dates, but instead of emailing everyone, says it in class.
It's a difficult class if you're not a good writer. Also the lectures are quite boring. However the professor is very nice and helpful and the TA's were pretty good too. Lastly there is a lot of reading to do.
I REALLY wanted to like this class, but my TA killed it. Honestly, they should do better screening or something for them. If you like children's literature, you should really give professor Signorotti a chance. She's really passionate about the subject. Roll the dice for a good TA (they do ALL the grading)
I thought she was a fairly good professor. Taking notes can be helpful, especially if you can not figure out a topic for a paper or you need help studying for an exam. I found the class to be a bit difficult because writing analytical papers is tough for me. If you need an H or W gen ed and you're willing to write a bit, I'd recommend this class.
She does mean well but beware if you are looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. I encourage all potential students to look through the required semiotics textbook before the add/drop deadline. The essays and quiz revolve around the semiotics textbook. You have been warned.
Shes great! So lively, so passionate about the subject. She has so much to say, and each lecture leaves you with so many new ideas. This was possibly one of the best classes I have taken at Bing. Sad to see the semester end. She loves students, so visit her office hours.
Incredible Professor, it is clear from her lectures that she is passionate about the subject. Definitely take a class with her at some point in your college career.
Not an easy A like everyone assumes. If you don't align with her beliefs then you will not get a good grade because she basically takes fairytales and children's books and translates them into what she thinks they mean.
I have taken both of her classes and if you find a text that is too intellectual it's more of an indication of where YOU are not her teaching. I found her classes intriguing and stimulating and educational. If you feel like you need the easy A than maybe community college is what you are looking for.
Signorotti is awesome! She's such an interesting lecturer, and I actually looked forward to listening to her speak. She's really open to everyone's opinion, and doesn't pretend to know something she doesn't. She's nice and open to talk to you and makes an effort to get to know people, which is rare in such a big lecture.
Very clear about expectations from students regarding participation, deadlines, and essay writing requirements. After being out of school for a couple years, Prof. Signorotti was instrumental in making me aware of what was missing in my writing, and always provided thorough and helpful feedback to my essays, making me a better student/essay writer.
all gradings from TA, but just a couple fo 5 page essays. books are interesting and not boring, she's insanely nice and approachable, took another one of her classes after
Prof S is a great teacher. She makes english topics that to me as a science major are usually very boring and makes them very interesting. The downside is that the semiotics book is very hard to understand and we are expected to read a lot of books very quickly. However, I could just bs the essays and get As. One of the best classes ive taken here
The most amazing professor ever, this is the way to teach a class people!!! Other professor's should study her technique, seriously.Thank you for a great semester!
I love her so much. Have taken two classes with her and would take a million more. if you take the time to get to know her, she'll be your bff. She's awesome and I want to be her when I grow up.
Great teacher and very interesting topics. take the chance to get to know her and introduce yourself because she wants you to succeed
I would highly recommend her. She makes the topics interesting and makes you want to come to class. A couple papers and a couple tests throughout the course, not hard if you do most of the readings. GREAT professor.
This was my second class taken with Signorotti, and I loved it. She makes difficult material much easier to grasp, and her class is generally very interesting. Can't wait to take another class with her!
Professor Signorotti is bubbly and super chic. Although she chooses some awesome books for Adolescent Literature, I would be wary of the Semiotics book. It is super dense and can be a nightmare to read. Yet, if you put in the work, you should get a decent grade. Still, she tries to make the Semiotics material as clear as possible. Love her!
This class had too many high expectations with a topic that wasn't even clear to the professor. The Semiotics book was too confusing and she graded harshly when you didn't understand it correctly. I think she needs to get rid of that semiotics book because it's not fair to those it doesn't click with right away or at all.
Professor Signorotti is a wonderful, amazing professor who makes the topic interesting and understandable with terrific lectures. She let's all the students express their interpretations of the texts freely and the lectures always stimulate great discussion. She is always willing to help the students and is an A+++++ teacher!!!
Loved her Adolescent Lit class! It's definitely not an easy A type of course, but the readings were cool and her lectures were interesting and funny. Daily short writing responses (like a sentence or two) so go to class. Has optional film days 4-5 times a semester. MUST read for class. Semiotics text is tough. Two tests and two 5 pg. papers.
I really take my hat off to professor Signorotti. Teaching an arcane, abstract concept like semiotics through popular literature awakened amazing lectures fueled by observations and revelations about the texts. Very interesting class and learning about semiotics influenced my own writing as well. I highly recommend this class! Awesome professor!!!!
Amazing teacher. One of the reasons I decided to double major in English was because of this course. Her lectures kept my attention. The textbook is difficult, so definitely show up on the days she discusses it and read her notes. Grade consists of two 5 page papers and 2 quizzes. Looking forward to taking more courses with her
Signorotti is a great professor. She's very engaging in lecture, super passionate about what she teaches, and is upbeat and fun. I would recommend her in a heartbeat. The only thing I didn't like was the heavy psychoanalytical approach she took throughout the whole class, I though it was a bit too much. Grade is based on two papers and 2 quizes
I love professor Signorotti! She combines her love of Semiotics to the text of Adolescent literature so well that you don't even realize that you're learning! If you're engaged and actually interested in the material then you'll do really well! She believes in helping her students understand and wants them to be prepared! Highly recommend her!
Professor Signorotti is by far the best professor I've had at Binghamton. If you do the readings and come to class you will do well. She is a fascinating person who clearly has an incredible amount of knowledge to contribute to her students. Don't miss out on taking all of her classes!
Professor Signorotti is the best professor I've ever had. Her lectures make the impossible text of Semiotics bearable, and she also has a great sense of humor. I had some personal problems going on during the semester, and she was glad to work things out for me and I cannot thank her more for her help and support. Recommend all her classes!
I took Children's Literature and am currently taking Adolescent Literature. I actually think Adolescent Literature is more interesting and I'm also doing better in this class. I got an A- in Children's Lit and currently have an A in Adolescent Lit. The Semiotics book is long but not difficult to understand.
Absolutely loved her! She is a great lecturer and really funny. Semiotics is the worst but she teaches it in a way that makes sense.
Best professor at BU! She is not only really funny but she is also enthusiastic and well informed in children's literature. As long as you show up to lecture and keep up with the readings (about one story per week) then you will most likely get an A.
She is definitely one, if not the best professor I've had so far. She is always full of energy and funny despite the subject. Semiotics was boring, but the young adult books were great. I actually had fun preparing for a final on The Hunger Games. Go to office hours b/c she is so nice + helpful. You can easily tell she cares a lot about herstudents
Professor Signorotti is a great professor. As someone who is not an English major, I enjoyed this class so much more than I thought I would. You definitely have to read but all the texts are meant for children, so nothing is really hard to get through. Would definitely take one of her classes again.
Dr. Signorotti is a fantastic and well respected professor in Binghamton, and for great reason! She comes to class prepared, and goes full throttle the entire lecture to hammer in the themes of novels. Children's Literature is based upon 2 papers, and 2 quizzes, all four of which are easy if you read, and most readings can be found free online.
professor was always ready to teach and was very relatable to students. go to her office hours for help on your papers/quizzes. the semiotics book was very tedious so make sure you go to class when she discusses it.
Professor Signorotti is a fantastic teacher and person. The Semiotics material is inherently confusing, but she presents it in an extremely intelligent and clear way. Once you get a hang of Semiotics, it will change the way you look at the world forever. As she says, "It's the theory of life." Would recommend taking any class with her.
I do not understand the fuss with her being so popular. Everything is completely TA graded, and totally subjective. I took two different classes of hers during one semester, and got an A- in the one, and a C+ in the other. It all depends on your TA. I honestly found her annoying to listen to as well. I don't recommend her.
Professor Signorotti is awesome and does all of her own grading. She gives great feedback, and has high expectations for her students. She wants to see everyone improve, and she's always willing to make time outside of class if you need help. She definitely helped me improve my analytical skills, which has helped me in other classes.
Professor Signorotti has to be one of my favorites! She really just wants you to pass her class so she really is not a stickler in Children's Literature. I would suggest reading but in all honesty you can just show up to class and pass the quizzes no problem. I know some people didnt read at all but it just makes the papers easier to write.
She's funny, full of energy, and always happy to help. She's open to different ideas and happy to engage in discussions with students. She's a great help on essays, and she really tries to make sure everyone gets an A. I am graduating this semester, but I am auditing her YA Dystopian class next semester cause I enjoy her teaching so much! Love her!
I had never done a mandatory reading for class before, because I like to do things on my own schedule. Her adolescent lit class was the first time I ever read for a class because of how engaging and entertaining she was during class. It wasn't her talking at you about the content, it was like genuine a conversation that you would have a friend.
interesting lectures. Has 2 quizzes and two 5 page papers in a semester. She doesn't give essay prompts which may be confusing but also lets you be liberal with your writing. For essays, you just need to be analytic and write in her voice to get a high grade. Overall easy class and you don't need to read cause she explains key points the next day
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. This class was so interesting and she honestly made it even more fun. I can't wait to take another class with her because she is so down to earth and genuinely cares. she actually wants her students to learn, not to just get a grade. 12/10 recommend to everyone, regardless of their major
LOVE THIS PROFESSOR. The class and the curriculum are interesting. Professor Signorotti is funny and personable. Assignments aren't too tough if you come to every class and do the required reading. I'd recommend the class to anyone looking to pursue a degree in English literature.
One of the most caring teachers I've had at Binghamton University. She engages with students outside of the class and inside, and reading children's literature is also fantastic with her. She's funny, super easy to talk to and theres only 2 quizzes and 2 papers.
Children's lit is one of the easiest classes I've taken at Binghamton. She's very caring and wants to see everyone do well. If you put effort into all the assignments it's a rather easy A. Read the books for the quizzes, since they are pretty specific. However, I didn't read for either of my essays and got high 90s on both. She takes attendance!
children's lit is by far the easiest class at binghamton with prof signorotti. 2 papers and 2 in class quizzes for which she provides the questions and allows an index card of information reading is not required as she gives extensive in class notes, she takes attendeance every day in lecture though
One of the best professors at Binghamton. You will not find a more caring, sweet, funny, intelligent or passionate professor in the English department. I've taken several of her classes and I enjoyed each one of them. Professor S is the best. Take a class with her, you will not regret it.
Be prepared to read. She is really open minded to opinions and has opened my mind as well. She is funny and can get deep about life, which I really like.
Taken her for several classes. Great professor and fun subject matter.
